I’ve tried disabling cookies, turning off JavaScript, using a VPN (Tunnelbear), using incognito, and several other options that have logged me out of all my accounts and almost broke Safari.
Most of them successfully stopped that “Subscirbe now!“ pop-up from coming up, but the site refuses to load the rest of the article. As far as I can tell the site attatches something to the device itself the first time you visit them and, once you run out of free articles, that’s it forever. It only loads the first 2 paragraphs and won’t give you the rest until you log in for a paid account.
Seriously, these assholes want $35 per month to read a bunch of articles about the economy.

2023.06.05 15:31 HonestRef How I rank the 4 movies and Why

  1. Temple Of Doom: This is definitely my least favourite. Don't get me wrong it has some great scenes such as the opening segment, good villians, mine cart chase and the climax on the bridge is one of the best in the series. Indy is absolutely ripped in this movie which is great. But this movie seems to get a free pass for all the crazy shit it has in it when compared to Crystal Skull.
All three members surviving a plane crash in an inflatable raft is arguably worse than some of the scenes in Crystal Skull. The dining scenes are painful to watch and Willie Scott is definitely the worst side character in the series, constantly screeching and screaming. The character is so annoying it makes it borderline unwatchable. I even think Short Round is an overrated character. People want to see a spinoff with an adult version of Short Round? I for one am glad that none of the characters in this movie returned in any sequels.
The movie is also very static in comparison to the other movies which is something else I didn't like. The other movies felt like more of an adventure with Indy travelling the world in exotic locations. The maguffin is the least interesting in the series. In conclusion I think this movie is viewed through rose tinted glasses and with a lot of nostalgia.
  1. Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull: The hate this movie has got throughout the years is something that will always continue to baffle me. Yes this movie has many flaws. Bad CGI, the bad CGI animals that are shoehorned into the movie at any given opportunity. Someone involved in this movie had an obsession with CGI gophers and they add absolutely nothing of value to the movie. Some of the dialogue is not great either and the movie has pacing issues.
However I think this is a solid entry in the franchise. I love how they introduce the character after so many years. Harrison looks great in this movie. I think the first hour or so of this movie is up there with the best. The motorcycle chase, the diner fight and graveyard scenes are all classic Indy. I think the level of abuse mutt got too is unwarranted. Personally I much prefer Mutt to Indys sidekicks in Temple.
The movie falters a bit when they go to the Amazon. The pace of the movie slows. The villians are probably the worst in the series in this movie. The Soviets were perfect choice as villians but they should have made them more threatening. Overall the movie definitely has flaws but it didn't deserve anywhere near the levels of hate it generated. The ending with Indy marrying Marion is great.
  1. Raiders Of The Lost Ark: It was very close between this movie and Last Crusade. Both are definitely the best in the series and a cut above the others. I wouldn't argue with anyone that says this movie is best. It's such an iconic movie. Has a character ever been introduced in such an iconic fashion before? The movie just flows really well. Its a proper adventure with Indy travelling to iconic locations.
The villains in this movie are great too. It has some of the best chases and action of the franchise. A very interesting Maguffin. It introduces indys best sidekicks from Marion, Marcus and Sallah. I am glad that these characters were the ones that returned in sequels. Marion is Indys best love interest.I honestly can't think of anything negative to say about this movie. It's truly one of the best if not the best Indy movie.
  1. The Last Crusade: Personally this movie just edged Raiders as my favourite. I love everything about this movie. Another proper adventure with some of the best locations seen in an Indy movie, Venice, Austria, Germany and Jordan. The maguffin is great and the returning characters Sallah and Marcus are more fleshed out. I think Elsa is also an interesting character and gives Marion a run for her money.
But it's the chemistry between Harrison Ford and Sean Connery that makes this movie. You can tell the two had a blast making this movie. Sean Connery even said around the time Crystal Skull was being made that he'd only cone out of retirement for an indiana jones movie. However they only offered him a small cameo at the end which is a great shame.
Like Raiders the movie flows very well and I think it has the best action and chase scenes of the franchise. The tank scene is truly epic. This movie has the best ending of the franchise with the characters riding off into the sunset. Again like Raiders I can't find anything bad about this movie. My one minor criticism is the opening with young Indy is not as exciting as the open of the other movies but Indy battling for the cross of coronado on the ship makes up for it. Definitely one of the best Indy movies.

2023.06.05 15:19 AMETSFAN England's New Order Cromwell's Commonwealth

England's New Order Cromwell's Commonwealth
After the death of Queen Elizabeth I in 1603, James VI of Scotland ascended to the thrones of England and Ireland, becoming James I of both realms. After James's death, his second son Charles took over as Charles I of England, Scotland, and Ireland. King Charles quickly tried to assert royal prerogatives but faced opposition from various factions in England and Scotland. Charles dealt with various financial, religious, and foriegn issues. A failed attempt to capture Spanish land in the New World, combined with lackluster finances, due to outdated methods of revenue collecting, left England in a financially unstable state. Charles attempted to have Parliament approve taxation to fill the Royal coffers but quickly ran into trouble with the independently-minded Parliament. Thus, the King dissolved Parliament and ran the country solely from Royal Prerogative. To deal with the aforementioned financial issues, Charles implemented various tax schemes to raise revenue and keep the nation afloat. Although the revenue raised was sufficient, Charles’s barely legal programs were widely hated. Nonetheless, most of the nation was fervently loyal to the King, meaning he would be able to keep up Personal Rule, as Charles’s reign was called, as long as expenses did not increase. However, Charles’s religious policies would begin the destruction of his tenuous grasp.

King Charles I of England, Scotland, and Ireland
Despite the deposition of Mary, Queen of Scots by Presbyterian nobles, in favor of her young son James, the House of Stuart remained apprehensive of radicals in the reformation, with James VI/I and Charles I both supporting the “High-Church Anglicans” (who believed in greater Church authority & were more compatible to Catholics), at the expense of Presbyterians in Scotland and Protestant “Dissents” (such as Puritans) in England. While James declined to attempt to impose his brand of Anglicanism upon the Scots, Charles took a different approach. Egged on by his chief religious advisor, Archbishop of Canterbury William Laud, Charles attempted to impose The Book of Common Prayer, the prayer book for the Anglican Church in England, on the Scottish Church. However, the Scots would fiercely resist any incursions upon their Presbyterianism, while some of Charles’s English subjects would oppose his attempts to enforce, what they saw as, crypto-Catholicism. Thus, the Scottish would rise in rebellion, with the sole goal of protecting the Presbyterian Church. While England undoubtedly had a greater fighting capacity in a vacuum, various factors ranging from internal apathy to Scottish determination would see Charles’s forces fall to a humiliating defeat, ending attempts at religious uniformity. Under the terms of the Treaty of Ripon, which ended the war, England had to pay minor reparations to Scotland for the trouble. But, Charles’s thinly-stretched revenue structure would collapse, as he would have no choice but to call a Parliament to raise the necessary revenue.

Archbishop of Canterbury William Laud, Charles's chief religious advisor & hardline High-Church Anglican
But, calling the new Parliament would raise its issues. Many Radicals and Puritans in the Parliament would strongly oppose the King’s actions. With various complaints about the religious, financial, and political changes ushered in by Charles’s Personal Rule, those most hostile to the King would issue the Grand Remonstrance, which listed their issues with the King. As tensions continued rising to the surface, a rebellion in Ireland would blow up the situation. While both the Parliament and the King wanted to send troops to suppress the rebellion, neither was willing to let the other take reign of the Army. This culminated in King Charles sending in troops to arrest 5 MPs who he had particular contempt for. However, all 5 were tipped off, allowing them to escape, embarrassing Charles. With Parliament ardently against him, Charles I had no choice but to escape, setting off the English Civil War.

Painting of Charles I's storming into Parliament & seeking the arrest of 5 MPs.
The First English Civil War would see the Scots and English Parliamentarians (with their ranks filled by political & religious radicals, Protestant Dissenters, most merchants, and those in the gentry who opposed the King’s taxes) ally to fight Royalists. Although the Scots and Parliamentarians would be fragmented at first, their combined force (along with the creation of the New Model Army) gave them the upper hand, particularly at the Battles of Marston Moor & Naseby, the latter of which proved to be a decisive defeat. After the capture of the King, there were debates about what to do with the King, and the new political system of the Three Kingdoms, with a consensus to keep the King around with moderate political reforms, while ignoring many social reforms.

Painting of the Battle of Marston Moor, the first big victory for the Parliamentarian Forces.
However, the settlement was not enough for Charles. Reversing his prior religious policies and personal scruples, Charles settled into an alliance with the Scots, starting the Second English Civil War, with an alliance of Royalists, Scots, and those within England disaffected from the Parliamentarian cause. Although it seemed that the Parliamentary cause was under threat, the supreme generalships of Oliver Cromwell and his deputy John Lambert would carry the day at the Battle of Preston, ending the 2nd English Civil War.

General John Lambert, who would rise through the New Model Army ranks and Cromwell's esteem during the 2nd Civil War
While the defeat of the Scots secured Parliament’s victory and enshrined Parliamentary rule over the 3 realms, the issue of what to do with the King would dominate political discussion. Parliament was willing to keep the King around, continuing negotiations on the Treaty of Newport with the King, despite his continued reluctance to compromise away any of his powers. However, the New Model Army would have no tolerance for any settlement. Hardened by years of conflict, and outraged at the King’s continued plotting and schemes, the New Model Army was firmly convinced that the King had to go. Thus, with the assumed permission of the Commander of the New Model Army Thomas Fairfax, and his deputy Cromwell, Colonel Thomas Pride forcibly expelled members of Parliament, whom the New Model Army found objectionable, thus ensuring that the monarchy would be abolished.

Colonel Thomas Pride's Purge of Parliament paved the way for the abolition of Monarchy in Britain.
But, this did not settle the question of what to do with the King. While the Army Grandees (leaders) opposed, at least at first, trying the King, growing radical sentiment fueled support for a trial of Charles I. But, the King’s continued refusal to compromise under any circumstances led most of the Army leaders, most importantly Oliver Cromwell, to support putting the King on trial. Although this was opposed by Fairfax and other old Parliamentarians, the New Model Army largely got on board with the idea. Their puppet Parliament, now called the Rump (meaning smaller offshoot) Parliament, which while still being an extension of the Long Parliament that dated back to after the Bishops’ Wars, did as the Army said. Thus, Parliament established a “High Court of Justice” to try the King, and, despite the Court’s unpopularity, the High Court decided to execute the King for abusing his mandate. While Fairfax refused to sign the death warrant, Cromwell and his allies, such as Henry Ireton, Edmund Ludlow, and Thomas Harrison all signed the warrant, while John Lambert was a supporter. This reflected the new reality that while Fairfax was still the leader, Cromwell was becoming the political voice of the Army. Thus, as King Charles’s reign came to a definitive end, the former 3 Kingdoms of England, Scotland, and Ireland would begin a new course - one without the King…

General Oliver Cromwell was quickly becoming the dominant force of the New Model Army and has been thrust into a position of power after Pride's Purge & the Execution of Charles.
Explanation of the Series -
Alright so, as you can probably see, the series will start soon after the death of King Charles. While Charles the 2nd was still running around France and Spain, for the sake of simplicity, we'll only have events from the point of view of the Commonwealth. The series will have something of an end-state, stopping when either some force in the Commonwealth or King Charles II secures power after the death of Cromwell. Obviously, this first post was for background, to help set the stage for the series. The next post will start off with the Levellers and it will go up until someone takes over for good. Not every post will have a poll to it, as some will obviously be lore posts, (ie a military decision or dissolving a parliament), but most of them will be polls. The questions posed for the poll are going to be from someone's perspective, usually either a person like Cromwell or an institution like the New Model Army. Since a series hasn't been done like this, to my knowledge, I'm excited to see where this goes. Please let me know if you want to be pinged for the series.

2023.06.05 15:11 autotldr Saudi Arabia warns Snapchat users that ‘insulting’ regime is a criminal offense

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 73%. (I'm a bot)
Saudi state media issued an explicit warning that it is a criminal offense to "Insult" authorities using social media apps such as Snapchat, the California-based messaging app whose chief executive recently forged a new "Cooperation" deal with the kingdom's culture ministry.
Saudi court documents examined by the Guardian suggest that at least one Saudi Snapchat user, Manahel al-Otaibi, was arrested late last year after posting a picture privately on Snapchat that showed her not wearing an abaya, leading to charges that she was dressed indecently.
In another case, Saudi Snapchat influencer Mansour Al-Raqiba, who has more than 2 million followers, was arrested in May 2022 in connection to his social media posts in which he suggested he had previously criticised Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's Vision 2030 economic plan for the kingdom and had been blackmailed as a result.
In another recent case, Snapchat influencer Rahaf Al-Qahtani's was reportedly arrested after posting comments that were deemed offensive to the people of the Maldives, allegedly running afoul of a Saudi law that prohibits individuals from damaging Saudi relations with its allies.
Some Saudi dissidents have privately expressed concerns about the privacy of Snapchat content in the kingdom.
Saudi director of the Freedom Initiative, which advocates for the rights of detainees in the Middle East and north Africa, said he believed the Biden administration's lack of attention to the issue helps explain the worsening human rights situation in Saudi Arabia, including "Unprecedented level of executions and arrest of people over social media use".

2023.06.05 15:02 randomwellwisher The Man Reimagining Disney Classics for Today’s World

The Man Reimagining Disney Classics for Today’s World
Profile on Sean Bailey, president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production
Concerning Johnny and Pirates:
Restarting the five-film “Pirates of the Caribbean” series is another priority, although nothing official has been announced. “We think we have a really good, exciting story that honors the films that have come before but also has something new to say,” Mr. Bailey said. Will the franchise’s problematic star, Johnny Depp, return as Captain Jack Sparrow? “Noncommittal at this point,” Mr. Bailey said, seemingly inching the door open.
Entire text:
By Brooks Barnes
June 4, 2023
For more than a decade, Sean Bailey has run Disney’s animated film “reimagining” factory with quiet efficiency and superhero-sized results. His live-action “Aladdin” collected $1.1 billion at the box office, while a photorealistic “The Lion King” took in $1.7 billion. A live-action “Beauty and the Beast” delivered $1.3 billion.
Disney likes the cash. The company also views Mr. Bailey’s remake operation as crucial to remaining relevant. Disney’s animated classics are treasured by fans, but most showcase ideas from another era, especially when it comes to gender roles: Be pretty, girls, and things might work out.
The reimaginings, as Mr. Bailey refers to his remakes, find ways to make Disney stories less retrograde. His heroines are empowered, and his casting emphasizes diversity. A live-action “Snow White,” set for release next year, stars the Latina actress Rachel Zegler as the princess known as “the fairest of them all.” Yara Shahidi played Tinker Bell in the recent “Peter Pan and Wendy,” making her the first Black woman to portray the character onscreen.
“We want to reflect the world as it exists,” Mr. Bailey said.
But that worldview — and business strategy — has increasingly put Disney and Mr. Bailey, a low-profile and self-effacing executive, in the middle of a very loud, very unpolite cultural fight. For every person who applauds Disney, there seems to be a counterpart who complains about being force-fed “wokeness.”
Many companies are finding themselves in this vise — Target, Anheuser-Busch, Nike — but Disney, which has a powerful impact on children as they are forming life beliefs, has been uniquely challenged. In this hyperpartisan moment, both sides of the political divide have been pounding on Disney to stand with them, with movies that come from Mr. Bailey’s corner of the Magic Kingdom as prime examples.
Consider his remake of “The Little Mermaid,” which arrived in theaters two weeks ago and cost an estimated $375 million to make and market. The new version scuttles problematic lyrics from the 1989 original. (“It’s she who holds her tongue who gets a man.”) In the biggest change, Halle Bailey, who is Black, plays Ariel, the mermaid. Disney has long depicted the character as white, including at its theme parks.
Support for Ms. Bailey, notably from people of color and film critics, has been offset by a torrent of racist commentary on social media and movie fan sites. Others have blasted “The Little Mermaid” for failing to acknowledge the horrors of slavery in the Caribbean. A few L.G.B.T.Q. people have criticized Disney for hiring a straight male makeup artist for the villainous Ursula, whose look in the animated film was inspired by a drag queen.
Disney has long regarded these kinds of social media storms as tempests in teapots: trending today, replaced by a new complaint tomorrow. In 2017, for instance, a theater in Alabama refused to play the live-action “Beauty and the Beast” because it contained a three-second glimpse of two men dancing in each other’s arms. It became a global news story. Ultimately, the fracas seemed to have no impact on ticket sales.
The upshot? Disney hoped “The Little Mermaid” would generate as much as $1 billion worldwide, with the furor evaporating once the film arrived in theaters. Feedback scores from test screenings were strong, as were early reviews. “Alan Menken just told me that he thinks this one is better than the animated film,” Robert A. Iger, Disney’s chief executive, said at the film’s premiere last month, referring to the Oscar-winning composer.
Instead, “The Little Mermaid” will top out closer to $600 million, box office analysts said on Sunday, largely because the film faltered overseas, where it was “review bombed,” with online trolls flooding movie sites with racist one-star reviews. The film has done well in North America, outperforming “Aladdin” and receiving an A grade from ticket buyers in CinemaScore exit polls, although attendance by white moviegoers has been soft in some parts of the United States, according to analysts. Support from Black and Latino audiences have made up the slack.
Mr. Bailey declined to comment on the racist responses to the film. “While the international opening was softer than we would have liked, the film is playing exceptionally well which we believe sets us up for a very long run,” he said on Saturday.
Mr. Bailey, 53, has survived box office shoals that were far worse, including misfires like “The Lone Ranger.” The less said about his live-action “Mulan,” the better. But Disney has always supported him. “I’ve taken some big swings and had some big misses,” Mr. Bailey said. “I’m grateful that the leadership of the company understands that is part of any creative business.”

2023.06.05 14:43 draigon01 Sudden Disappearance of skin textures?

So I have a modded play through going and it’s all been working perfectly fine for a long while now (level 43 save) but all of a sudden I’ve noticed that all NPCs and my character have missing skin textures/meshes. If I remove clothing and armor there’s nothing there. Except heads.
My question is what could cause this? Bearing in mind, I haven’t changed the mod load order in any way, in fact. Once I had my stable load order working I turned the Xbox offline and haven’t re-connected it since. So the modded load order was working perfectly fine with no bugs, and even though nothing has changed with the load order at all, this bug has occurred and I can’t seem to get rid of it.
Any thoughts on how and why this might have happened and if it’s fixable at all?
Here is my load order. The game runs perfectly smooth, level 40 character without a single crash after multiple long play sessions. And suddenly all bodies have now disappeared!

2023.06.05 13:56 Snudwoner With Fervor and Bayonets Only - Chapter 4: Push-Back

Kayles, Soldier of the United Kingdom, Subject of His Majesty, King George V
Date: [Standardized Human Time] June 29, 1915
Hot balls of lead death send splinters flying as I ducked into a dugout. Miles was close behind, clutching his helmet with his free hand. He had used all of his grenades in blowing apart the barbed wire, so we only had rifles at our disposal. Even though he towered well above my eye level, I still could see the fear in his visage.
Shouts in German rounded the corner, and Miles looked at me wordlessly. Run!, his eyes seemed to say. His fleeing deeper into the tunnel system confirmed my position.
My paws pattered on the dirt floor, as gunfire sounded from outside.
”Miles!” I hissed, determined not to make any noise. No reply
Fuck! I lost that blasted human again. Now, here I was, in a pitch-black German bunker.
I stepped forward, my paw pads shifting the dust on the floorboards like bread dough on a floured cutting board. Thankfully, I appeared to be totally alone in this tunnel complex, given that the soldiers pursuing us weren’t in earshot. My ears were still ringing faintly, however, and I couldn’t be sure if I was truly alone.
The next few minutes consisted of me bumping into bunk beds as I stumbled my way through the dugout, no source of light except for one dim lantern left in the corner by its operator. I stepped over and grabbed the brass loop tightly in my forepaw, and lifted it off the hook, granting me a light source.
The next few minutes attempting to navigate the tunnels were uneventful, as the sounds of battle filtered in from outside. Eventually, the dim glow from the lantern was replaced by daylight as I found an exit. Immediately, I was greeted by a pair of German soldiers frantically operating a machine gun.
The cylinder of death was chattering away as it chewed through its ammunition, the belt being held aloft by the soldier that wasn’t operating the weapon. I raised my rifle, and I fired.
The machine gunner’s head jerked to the side as crimson gushed from his neck, the fiend falling to the ground as his comrade wheeled, dropping the ammunition belt and rushing to unholster his sidearm. I fired again after ratcheting the bolt, and that was two down. The machine gun stood silent. Where were all the other Germans?
Gunfire nearby alerted to the potential whereabouts of the absent soldiers. Hefting my stolen rifle, I grabbed an ammunition clip from my satchel, and racked it into my rifle. Combat awaited!
But wait, what was that? Is that… cheering? Why would cheering erupt in the middle of a battle?
My confusion grew as I turned, startled at several English soldiers storming around a corner.
“WE DROVE THEM OUT!” One of the Terrans shouted deafeningly. Next to him stood a familiar spiky form, acting just as excited and eager; a Gojid.
I knew that the Gojid species was in short supply on Earth, but seeing one on the frontlines of this damned hell was definitely strange. The spiky fella seemed to be completely in tune with the humans. It was likely his parents raised him next to the omnivores.
He introduced himself as Bratip, and I fell into this squad, now representing three separate species. From what they told me, the Germans had dedicated a large portion of this line to attacking our position, and when we countered, their meager defenses collapsed. It explained the lack of Germans I saw in the dugout.
As the smoke from the fires of war drifted over the horizon, I pondered the fate of that Miles kid, and my friend, Barlek.
First Previous
Hey guys, Snudwoner here. I’m sorry if this chapter doesn’t exactly keep up with the action of the past two, but I’ve been busy with end-of-school exams and whatnot, and I really needed to finish up the current battle, and get ready to transition the story to another point.
But, we now have confirmation that Terran Gojid exist on Earth in this AU, and the English forces have pushed back the German Line! Stay tuned!

2023.06.05 13:54 Mara_S0v Elena Guerrera - Warrior's Spirit

"I don't do interviews."
Name: Elena Sofía Guerrera Date of Birth: March 13th
Age: 16 Gender: Female (She/HeHers)
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual Nationality: American (Immigrant from Mexico)
Race: Latina (Mexican) Fatal Flaw: Distrust
Demigod Conundrums: ADHD Hometown: Morelia, Michoacán, MX
Elena's first name was given to her by her father for reasons unknown. Her mother offered her the middle name Sofía, which means wisdom in ancient greek. Finally, her surname Guerrera means warrior in Spanish.

Family Member Age Description/Title Relationship
Father: Paolo Guerrera 22 (Deceased) Elena doesn't know anything about her father. She was three years old when he died. Too young to know him, but always old enough to miss him. Elena never knew her father and always wishes she had.
Mother: Athena Oplophóros Wisdom never ages, only matures. The goddess of wisdom in a form known for being an armed, strategic warrior. 'Mom' was a name that has always been foreign to Elena. She believes that her mother died during childbirth, leaving Elena's father to raise the girl on her own. She holds no ill will, only the wish that she could have met her if only for a moment.
Caregiver: Tia Rosa 47 (Deceased) A Nun who worked at the orphanage Elena grew up in. Died when Elena turned 14 The closest thing to a mother that Elena ever had. They had a running joke that Elena was Rosa's favorite at the orphanage. She always gave Elena extra cookies at dinner.
Caregiver: Tia Esmerelda 43 (Status: Unknown) A Nun who worked as a teacher at the orphanage Elena grew up in. A stern, strong woman. Her beautiful features were hardened due to years of continued work. She taught Elena everything she could until the fateful day that Elena left Mexico.
"bonita no gana peleas" (Pretty doesn't win fights.)

Here (Art found on pinterest, orginal artist unknown) 5'7 The ever-sought-after hourglass figure graces Elena's body. She is lean and toned due to years of fighting on her own. I don't think I can ask that and make it out alive... Thick and dark brown. Cut short and jagged by her own swords. Piercing Green Unlike her siblings, Elena does not possess her mother's grey eyes. Her eyes only turn grey when her powers activate. Double piercings on both ears. Her right nostril is pierced as well.
Godrent Minor:
Godrent Major:
Blunt, cold, and guarded. All words that can be used to describe this hardened daughter of Athena. The once kind, crafty, bright young girl that roamed the halls of the cathedral which she was raised in has been lost along the long road travelled between Mexico and New York. On the surface, Elena is very calm, but apathetic. She does not offer her sympathy easily, if at all. Most who approach her are met with blunt rejection. If she chooses to stay in an interaction, her responses will be short and to the point. Her defensive social she’ll is almost as strong as her battle defenses. If you want to see the layers beneath, you’ll have to break through her hard social defense.
[To be revealed]
A girl cursing violently and rapidly in spanish was walking down Half-Blood Hill. Quite honestly, she looked homeless. Her hair was choppy, as if someone had just taken a sword to it she had and her clothes were dirty, as if they hadn’t been washed in gods know how long they hadn’t.
The right arm of her black long-sleeve shirt had been cut off and tied around what looked like the remnant of a bleeding gash along her lateral bicep. Her blue jeans had plenty of rips, but not the fashionable kind. These rips were the kind that came from a long, grueling journey. But… it seems like that journey has finally come to an end.
Welcome to Camp Half-Blood, Elena.

2023.06.05 12:29 TimothyFerguson1 My bath is more dangerous than the English.

Last playthrough: rags to riches, Meath
Founding character dies in battle. His son becomes High King of Ireland and the Isles. Dies of old age.
His 24 year old daughter takes over. At 26 she slips coming out of the bath and gets Incapable. Lasts 40 years.
Her son takes over in his 20s. Three years into his reign, slips in the bath. Incapable for 20 years
His son takes over, but the vassals are too restless and do him over.
Sure, the dynasty fights off the English, the Norse and the Scots, but basic sanitary precautions did them over.
People say James VI was a weirdo for not bathing and instead just pressing his fingertips on a wet sponge, but he had two kingdoms to run, so maybe he knew about how dangerous this bathing thing was

2023.06.05 12:25 juicetheviking More interesting drive pedals for a strat?

Looking for some advice.. I’m running a very good sounding but cookie cutter rig and I’m trying to break out. I have a custom shop strat going through a deluxe reverb. Warm audio centavo, ts808 and a real Marshall bluesbreaker. I most play on cover bands but I’m tired of sounding like John Mayer lmao. Any advice on some practical yet not cookie cutter driver pedals to throw in the mix? I typically like 3 gain stages, one always on, a light boost and then something more aggressive for leads. I’d love to hear your ideas!

2023.06.05 12:11 TheGeekyZoologist Jurassic World: The Hegemony of Biosyn (Dominion rewrite) - Important notes, Prologue and Act I

Since we're nearing the one year anniversary of JWD release, I thought it was a good opportunity to share with you the ideas I had for a rewrite of the film. I grouped them in a detailed pitch which I will present this week in a series of five posts. Today's post is about the story's prologue and first act. Tomorrow's will about the second act and so on... This detailed pitch is divided scene by scene and is accompanied by a few notes. It's basically similar to something that someone would present in a pre-production meeting.
However, before you start reading that series of post, I'll suggest that first you check the foreword on this page (https://archiveofourown.org/works/47647999/chapters/120097705) and secondly that you carefully read the paragraph below, as it's about the connection between that JWD rewrite and my previous rewrites (don't worry, you don't have to read the entirety of my stories before this series of posts, just the information below).

Important notes on my AU:

1) For those who didn't read my previous stories
- The stories told in this AU have a darker tone and are more adult than those of the films. Thus don't be surprised by some character actions or events. If they were films, they would be unsuitable for children under 12 in Europe (and the limit would be probably higher in North America). Thus, I would say that the Read at your own risk rule applies here for the younger users of this subreddit. I'm not trying to be edgy or whatever. I'm just an adult writing from an adult perspective. Nothing more and nothing less.
- By the late 2010's and early 2020's, there is still a considerable population of de-extinct dinosaurs and pterosaurs in the Five Deaths. An UN-backed paramilitary organization, the Grey Guard, protects the archipelago and had troops on Nublar up until the fall of Jurassic World.
- The Jurassic World park had feathered dinosaurs and Owen's Achillobator quartet were among those.
- The Fall of Jurassic World happened in 2017 and the Lockwood estate incident in 2019. The Indominus' rampage and the Sibo's eruption happened at the same time while the Costa Rican incident which preceded that of the Lockwood estate happened in the mainland and not on Nublar. Those two incidents are told in Jurassic World: The Red Queen, my FK rewrite (and which we'll abbreviate as TRQ).
- Roberta and the mosasaur died after the Fall of Jurassic World. Thus, they are not in TRQ and The Hegemony of Biosyn. In those stories, Roberta's role is mainly filled by Acrocanthosaurus.
- Claire and Owen aren't exactly identical to their versions from the official film canon. In terms of look, Owen is closer to Jason Momoa than Chris Pratt and Claire, while still being a fair-skinned redhead, is a bit taller and more intimidating-looking than BDH.
- In this AU, Claire is a far more morally ambiguous character than Trevorrow's version. She's more outspoken, and has a the end justifies the means mindset. For a time, she had serious PTSD from the Fall of Jurassic World, during which she was mauled by the Indominus (which clawed her face and bit off one of her arms). She also didn't create the DPG in this AU (someone else did).

2) Spoilers of the end of The Red Queen necessary to better understand the context and plot of The Hegemony of Biosyn.
- The Dinosaur outbreak which resulted from the Lockwood estate incident is less severe than in Trevorrow's version. Dozens of dinosaurs still escaped into the Californian wilderness but by the beginning of The Hegemony of Biosyn, they hadn't the time to establish considerable wild populations (except perhaps for the smaller species) while the dinosaur alert is mostly restricted to western North America. Broad strokes, there is no "Dinosaurs are everywhere on Earth. We're in deep shit! You're wondering how? Shut up, it's magic!" at the start of this Dominion rewrite but more sporadic incidents here and there and only beginnings of biological invasions in some areas. Moreover, TRQ's epilogue insists more on the propagation of de-extinction technology.
- At the end of TRQ, Claire and Owen are hired as field agents by the World De-extinction Monitoring Centre (WDMC), a UN agency.
- Maisie isn't adopted by Claire and Owen. In TRQ, she even has limited interactions with them (she gets involved in the incident only when the Indoraptor enters her room) and Owen isn't her saviour in that story. After the incident, she stayed at the manor with the Lockwood estate employees and just before his death, Lockwood entrusted her to Wu.
- In the late 2010's, InGen's biggest rivals were Biosyn and Grendel. At the end of TRQ, a collapsing InGen is bought by Biosyn and Wu hired by the latter's R&D department.
- Wu and Claire became sworn enemies when she became park director of Jurassic World (this relation worsened during the park's fall following some revelations) and while she left him alone at the end of TRQ, she told him she'll show no mercy if he has a share of responsibility in another disaster.
3) Notable differences between The Hegemony of Biosyn and Colin Trevorrow's Dominion.
- Grant, Malcolm and Sattler are absent. I preferred to leave those characters in peace rather than mistreat them (and even after I finished THOB's detailed summary, I don't see how I could have integrated them in a pertinent way, and there is already many... many characters).
- Most of the fan-service towards the first Jurassic Park was flushed down in the toilets.
- Barry Sembène is absent too. Not only the reasons of his inclusion in Dominion's story didn't conviced them (how what seemed to be just an animal wrangler ends up being now a secret services agent?) but in this alternative universe, him and Owen had started to fall out during the fall of Jurassic World and at the beginning of The Red Queen, we learn that he went back to France. I originally intented to make him one of the main characters of a spin-off set in France (and after the events depicted in The Hegemony of Biosyn) and we would have saw him again only then (wishing to leave dinosaurs behind him, he took a zookeeper position in some zoo in Ile de France, where he works with birds of prey. But a crisis in another part of the country force another of the protagonists (a gendarme) to recruit him due to his experience in InGen's IBRIS program). Thus, the role he's having in Trevorrow's Dominion is given to other characters in The Hegemony of Biosyn.
- Some characters have a different fate.
- A longer story, sometimes similar to that of a political thriller.
- Additional characters and subplots. A hypothetical casting for the original characters is available on the Archive of Our Own page linked above.

Without further ado, let's dive in the story.

The prologue is set in mid-2022, in a village of the Austrian Alps, near the Italian border. On the village's outskirts, a man is awakened in the middle of the night by the panicked bleating of his goats. After checking them, he is attacked and killed by a mysterious small predator while one of the goats, a black billy, runs away. Nothing is seen of the predator during that sequence but the two-toed tracks it leaves in the ground.

ACT I: The chessboard and the pawns

After the prologue in Austria, we move to North America and more precisely an Oregon wood where an Acrocanthosaurus (a species introduced in TRQ) is being chased by a Fish and Wildlife Service helicopter. It's basically the drive-in scene from Trevorrow's version except that Roberta is replaced by the Acrocanthosaurus.
News Montage
Soon, the drive-in incident is in the news and we have a news montage with the world situation three years after the Lockwood estate incident. We learn that:
- De-extinction technology is mastered by various organizations across the globe.
- Incidents involving loose de-extinct animals occur from time to time. The controversial Grey Guard, an UN-backed paramilitary organization based in the Five Deaths, has been solicited by various nations to help their authorities deal with those incidents. The USA are however among the nations who refuse to let them intervene on their soil and instead, the US government use the CIA's Dangerous Species Division (which recruited several former InGen employees like Doctor Kajal Dua).
- Mantah Corp fell during those three years while Grendel was considerably weakened after some deadly incidents in Cameroon and southern India (one of their consequence is the outbreak of a dinosaur-related encephalitis in Cameroon, quite similar to one which occurred in Costa Rica in the late 2010s), leaving Biosyn as the number one in the field of genetic engineering.
- All of its biggest rivals now out of the equation, Biosyn has a hegemony and is thriving more than ever despite heavy criticism by some people who bring out the corporation's past controversies (like a certain rabies vaccine test in Chile). In a conference scene, Zoe Murdoch, Biosyn's vice president presents their newest creations, which includes variants from species already introduced in the series (She compares InGen's tyrannosaur, original trilogy's Raptor, Triceratops, Compsognathus and Quetzalcoatlus to Biosyn's. The raptor is feathered, the rex and trike are more in line with modern scientific depictions, the Compy is feathered and docile enough to be sold as a pet, while the quetzal is more pleasant looking than InGen's flying abominations which massacred people during the Fall of Jurassic World). The report also precise that Biosyn created tailored and more docile dinosaurs and use the example of the pack of featherless raptors they made foloaned to motion picture company Europacorp for one of their action films, showing footage of featherless and boxy-headed raptors jumping from roof to roof during a film shooting, where they were handled as easily as trained big cats or even dogs (This use is possible partly because de-extinct creatures have less rights than modern animals).
- Biosyn is also contracted by several governments, including the US, to capture the loose dinosaurs. To their sanctuary and research facility in the Dolomites valley of Auronzo, they sent some of the escapees from Lockwood's estate and their offspring, the animals which escaped Grendel's facilities in Cameroon and India (A group of Nasutoceratops and a 2010's style Spinosaurus are seen during that part of the report), and others... The close ties between Biosyn and the US government are also mentioned (in addition to providing help to the FWS agents, Biosyn has also several important contracts with the government and some people within the Agriculture department and the Food and Drug Administration are former Biosyn employees).
- However, there are some rumours that the Cameroon and Indian incidents were actually triggered by Biosyn and incriminating proofs were brought before the US congress but the investigation commission, led by Senator Christine West, rejected them.
San Francisco
Shortly after this testimony, Guillaume Vuillier, the World De-extinction Monitoring Centre's general director, is seen in the agency's headquarters in San Francisco. Since the US government doesn't seem to be willing to act against Biosyn, he's afraid that the WDMC and its allies have to deal with Biosyn's case alone. After some incidents in the Alps along the border between Italy and Austria involving creatures they presume to be raptors due to the nature of the tracks found, the UN and the Italian and Austrian governments have imposed an inspection on Biosyn's Sanctuary in Auronzo Valley. Vuillier and others suspect that the attacks' perpetrators indeed came from the Sanctuary.
The Inspection
Vuillier travels to Venice, where he meets with Dougal Benett, one of his European field agents, and the rest of the inspection group, which includes Mario Viscontini, head of the AISI (Italy's internal intelligence agency), and Giovanni Pazzi, Minister of the Interior. The inspection group then heads to its rendez-vous point with Biosyn, meets Murdoch and Ramsay (both usually work at Biosyn's HQ in Cupertino, California), and then embark on a Biosyn helicopter which takes them to the Dolomites and the Citadel, Biosyn's research facility (Though it's not as pretty as the building from Trevorrow's vision and a little bit more austere-looking, it's still impressive) which overlooks the Sanctuary.
The group inspect the facility, with head of security Lucrezia Pellegrino explaining how the dinosaurs can't leave the valley (through control chips and invisible fence systems), and even get to meet Dodgson, who made sure to hide anything controversial and have everything look in order. Thus, the inspection group doesn't find anything suspicious and returns to Venice. But the WDMC employees and Viscontini weren't fooled by Biosyn's "Everyone is beautiful. Everyone is nice" presentation, Vuillier points out the Sanctuary's flaws (too small to let a huge number of animals roam it freely, climate is not ideal enough for dinosaurs...) and are aware that controversial, if not illegal research must be conducted in the Citadel's secret wings (as it's way more isolated and hard to access than Cupertino's HQ).
Dodgson is aware of their distrust and both he and Vuillier start moving their pawns on the chessboard.
In the CIA's DSD headquarters in San Francisco, the division's leader Isaac Gibbon (and perhaps senator West. I'm not yet sure if I include her in this scene or not. She could be visiting the division about funding matters or something like this) attends a presentation made by one of his agents, Jessica Bigelow. The presentation's topic is Claire Dearing and after summarizing her life (with a few saucy anecdotes and pictures from Claire's youth and early years at JW), Bigelow shows how the fallen park director fascinate some people, especially online, and how she managed to put a part of the public opinion on her side in the recent years after being treated like a pariah in the couple of years that followed the fall of Isla Nublar (Being positively depicted in the DPG documentary Franklin Webb made back in 2019; occasionally making vlogs; appearing on Stephen Colbert's show without her mask and answering his questions with honesty and self-derision...). The CIA agents say that she's the WDMC's most surprising and promising element alongside her fiancé Owen Grady. Both are nicknamed Vuillier's Wolves by them as they, especially Claire, are tend to be ruthless with those who oppose them, especially in unofficial and borderline illegal missions Vuillier give them, consisting in spying and/or sabotaging nefarious de-extinction related organizations. Bigelow also mention that it's highly probable she's also The Ghost of Nublar, a mysterious figure who challenged the Indominus during the Invasion of Burroughs, when Isla Nublar fell.
The ranch
One night, somewhere in the western US (could be Nevada like in Trevorrow's version), a trio of people is seen breaking out in a ranch-like facility. Once they're in its heart, the group split up, with one of its members heading towards another building. The two others, revealed to be Zia Rodriguez and Franklin Webb from the Dinosaur Protection Group (which is led by Zia, as the organisation's founder resigned at the end of TRQ) enters a warehouse which contains rows of cages with baby ceratopsians. While Zia and Franklin film the evidences of the animals' mistreatment, we return to their mysterious companion, whose face is concealed by a balaclava. However, an attentive viewer can recognize her green eyes and her prosthetic hand: It's Claire, who's on an unofficial mission for the WDMC. After avoiding or neutralizing some guards, she breaks out in the facility's offices. There, she discovers documents which might contain indicate a connexion between the illegal dinosaur exploitation and Biosyn (who could be selling embryos, eggs or juveniles to those exploiters before denouncing or sabotaging them years later, being paid by the government for capturing the dinosaurs and finally sending them to their Sanctuary). After this infiltration segment, ensues an action scene where our protagonists have to escape the facility aboard a vehicle stolen by Claire. During this scene, she seriously injures or even kill one guard, something she doesn't care much about at the moment but which will have some consequences.
The following morning, Claire phones Peggy Zubiri (Guillaume Vuillier's assistant, who sometimes act as a "Mission control" person for Claire and her colleagues) to tell her that she has the evidences they were looking for. The former director of Jurassic World then has a discussion with the two DPG members in which Zia laments that despite all her organization's actions, it seems that things aren't evolving in the good direction for de-extinct animals and that the morale within the DPG is at its lowest. They then departs for San Francisco, where Claire has to give Peggy the documents she found before returning to her and Owen's cabin.
The wranglers and the thieves
We then cut to Owen, who's in the middle of a WDMC-US FWS joint operation somewhere in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, where they have to capture some dinosaurs (candidates could be Dryosauruses or juvenile Gallimimuses and Hadrosaurs, as wrangling adults on horseback is quite unrealistic to be honest). However, as they are leading the captured dinosaur(s) back to their base camp, our group has an encounter with Rainn Delacourt and his men. It plays out like in the extended version of Trevorrow's film, with Owen and his companions being forced to give the animal(s) to Rainn. However, just as Rainn's team are taking the dinosaur(s) away, Owen tells one of the FWS agents that this situation is only temporary, as Rainn will soon get a surprise...
In Orick, Maisie Lockwood exits the estate to go biking in the area. A scene where she encounters some dinosaurs like in the film might be included here. O'Hara (the old lady who participate to her kidnapping in Trevorrow's film) is seen watching her. She returns to the manor just before the evening. The place is not as vibrant as before (it's almost a ghost manor. As it's the autumn, the place would even look ominous), with only a handful of employees remaining, including Theo Lomas, the man who saved her from the Indoraptor three years ago and who now works as the estate's guard. Officially, Henry Wu became Maisie's foster father when Benjamin died but the geneticist, who was assimilated by Biosyn when it bought InGen at the end of TRQ, now lives in the Dolomites facility and his visits to Orick are rare. Thus, Theo became Maisie's true foster father in addition to being the closest thing to a friend for her. He expresses his worries about her long excursions outside but as she's started to become a rebellious teenager, things are tense.
Vuillier's interview
We cut to an interview of Guillaume Vuillier on the French television set just a few days after the Dolomites Inspection. At first, the journalist ask questions about the inspection of Biosyn's complex and the incidents in the Alps before addressing the rumour which says that the masked individual who recently attacked illegal dinosaur breeders might be a WDMC agent, Claire Dearing to be precise (as the colleagues of the deceased guard(s) claimed the attacker was a woman with a prosthetic arm). The journalist brings out another case where Claire made veiled threats to a suspect while on an official mission (with said suspect declaring she almost acted like a Gestapo member or something like this), and as Claire is Vuillier's subordinate, the journalist ask if he intent to sanction her. Annoyed, Vuillier retorts that she acted on legitimate defence and that those people had the choice to cooperate but didn't. Having noticed strange in the journalist's attitude, he suspect that the French government (Due to certain events in TRQ I won't name to not spoil you, the latter has Vuillier and the couple in their radar) paid them and tried to discredit him through that topic. The interview makes some buzz, enough to attract the attention of Odegaard, Vuillier's boss and the leader of the UN environment programme (the character is mentioned but never seen).
Sightings map
We get several little family scenes with Claire, Owen and Sigurd, their four-year old son. One of those scenes shows Owen briefly looking at a map he pinned in their office, depicting California and the neighbouring states. On it, he put Blue's sightings. The last of those was in Yosemite area, where the Raptor Whisperer searched the Achillobator earlier in the autumn but to no avail.
In the meantime, we learn that Rainn was arrested after the authorities followed the tracking chip Owen put in the animal the poacher stole. With the animal seized by the FWS and him heavily compromised on a judicial standpoint, Rainn is raging.
Just after his return to San Francisco, Vuillier receives a video call from Lester Nyamu, a friend and colleague from the UN environment programme's HQ in Nairobi. After that interview in the French media, Nyamu tells Vuillier that Odegaard fears the bad publicity Claire might give to the WDMC and wants to send him to the US at the end of the winter and have him follow Claire in her missions, acting as an inspector. His inspection will decide if they can keep Claire as a field agent or not.
While on an official field mission, Claire is contacted by Vuillier, who tells her about the current controversy. He announces he is forced to send her back home and have her do teleworking and not participate to any field mission, official or not, until further notice.
Resonating Chamber
Stuck at home, Claire takes interest in raptors' behaviour and reads not only her fiancé's IBRIS stuff but also whatever the WDMC has on the topic, including reports from the scientists stationed in the Five Deaths and the testimonies and notes of Alan Grant and Billy Brennan. After watching a video where a group of WDMC scientists and grey guards stops a raptor attack on Sorna by using a resonating chamber identical to the one Brennan made back in 2001, she remembers Owen commissioned a similar one for Achillobators and finds it. She then start learning to use it.
The Palaeontologist
As Auronzo Valley has received its first snow falls, we are introduced to Biosyn Sanctuary's resident palaeontologist, the Scotsman Rod Drummond. Dodgson asked him to act as a tour guide for two teenage girls, the daughters of an investor with which he is negotiating, but they are not interested in the slightest about what's he is saying and are on their phones even though there's dinosaurs outside (a group of Stygimoloch is seen foraging in the snow). Short-tempered (the character is a bit like the lovechild of Gordon Ramsay and Westworld's Lee Sizemore), Drummond grab one of the phones and smash it against the nearest wall. The girls protest but Drummond gives a long rant in which he almost reveal the Sanctuary's true purpose, something he's really uncomfortable with. When they return, Dodgson ask the girls if they're okay (he has a soft spot for children) and yells at Rod but the palaeontologist ignores him and storms off to his office. Some minutes later, he receives the visit from the girls' father, Nathan Quinn. The investor apologies for his daughters' behaviours and tell Rod that he accepted Dodgson's offer in exchange of a seat in the board of directors.
Bailed out
Rainn is bailed out by a mysterious ally and once free, he plans his vengeance upon Owen. He receives a phone call from an unknown woman and first presumes it's her who bailed him out but it isn't the case. She tells him that she has a mission for him, consisting in capturing a particular dinosaur, a blue Achillobator. Having been told about the relationship Owen had with this animal, Rainn accept the mission, claiming he'll succeed where other poachers failed.
There is a time jump to the middle of the winter, just after the New Year. Claire and Owen recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of their meeting and the Raptor Whisperer is in their office, once again studying Blue's moves on the map, trying to discern a pattern or a trajectory. He ends up realizing that she's heading right towards the area where they live. As if to confirm his guess, there is a shot which shows an Achillobator in the snowy woods.
A few days later, Sigurd, Claire's and Owen's son, is playing in the snow when a young Achillobator with blue feathers steps out of the nearby woods. It's about to pounce on the child when its mother, none other than Blue, calls it back, recognizing the boy from the Orick incident (she nearly devoured him during it but changed her mind at the last second when she recognized Owen's smell on him). Owen rushes to grab his son and Blue stands before her young. Claire steps out of the cabin and while walking towards her fiancé and their child, she uses the resonating chamber. At first, it seems to calm Blue but the raptor then decides to retreat into the woods with her young. The family go back inside the cabin and the couple have a talk about what just happened and debate about what they should do with the two Achillobators as they can't be left in the wild, both for their own safety and that of the local animals and people. One of them think about telling the Fish and Wildlife Service but the other retorts that the FWS is likely to send Blue and her young in their complex in Pennsylvania, where the captured de-extinct animals are usually given to Biosyn and flown to Europe, and that they're not sure if Auronzo Valley's sanctuary is truly safe for them. An alternative is suggested, consisting in capturing them without telling anyone but a few trusted people and then bringing them to the local Wildlife Park Owen worked for between JW's fall and the 2019 incidents. This would only be a temporary solution (if Blue kills locals, they're afraid that the park will be targeted) while Claire would negotiate with Vuillier and one of her friends, Lord Francis Clayton, a British aristocrat who owns one of England's largest zoos and wanted to buy Blue during the 2019 auction InGen held at Lockwood estate (a legal one, unlike the one organized by Mills at the same moment). The couple indeed thinks that the two raptors will be safer in the United Kingdom than in the US, where Biosyn's influence is much stronger. During that scene, Owen also gives a name to Blue's young: Victoria, after Victoria Beckham (in TRQ, it's revealed that he originally wanted to name the raptor squad after the Spice Girls). (Thus, bye bye Beta)
The couple starts planning and organizing the capture operation, even asking the help of Zia as they need a veterinarian, but the news of two hunters mysteriously disappearing in the area reminds them of the situation's urgency. And hearing about this, Rainn Delacourt soon arrives in the area.
Wu's call
Wu calls Maisie, telling her he has something important to show her and he invites her and Theo to the Dolomites. As it's about her mother Charlotte, Maisie accepts.
Tragedy in the Sierra Nevada
Zia, Franklin and one or two other DPG members, along with a couple of people from the before mentioned wildlife park and one of the FWS agent from the wrangling scene, arrive at Owen's cabin, ready to offer their help in Blue's and Victoria's capture. The couple and their allies set off.
But Rainn and his men finds the raptors first and lure Victoria into a trap. Blue tries to free her and kills all those standing in her way but Rainn mortally wounds her and leaves with Victoria before Owen can stop him. During the skirmish, one of the DPG members and the FWS agent are also wounded and Claire and Franklin are forced to drive them to the nearest clinic while Owen, Zia and the others search for Blue. When they find her, they realize she's in agony and Zia tells Owen that this time, she can't save the Achillobator. With great difficulty, Owen takes the decision of putting an end to Blue's suffering. She is buried in a secret location deep in the woods and just before he, Zia and their colleagues departs, Franklin tells Claire that this failed mission was the final straw and that he'll leave the DPG and consider a job offer he recently received, arguing that when amateurs try to make things right, innocents gets hurt and that they should let those kind of issues to competent authorities.
Claire then informs Vuillier about the incident.
Leaving Orick
O'Hara, the Biosyn employee dispatched at Orick, picks up Maisie and Theo at the manor and they leave the estate.

End of Act I.
See you tomorrow for Act II.

How to Solve Multiple-Account Association? Share the Solution Professional Cross-Border Sellers are Using
With the rapid growth of the Internet, more and more users are becoming more conscious of their online privacy, however, there are many ways for websites to track you without your knowledge. So, whether you want to avoid this for personal reasons or need to grow your business with multiple different identities, using MuLogin Antidetect Browser can solve this set of problems for you.

Using only proxy IPs or V.P.N. is far from hiding your real fingerprints
On the Internet, there are many ways for websites to track any user online. For example, cookies, store information about your devices, and preferences, and can follow you across multiple sites to record your online activity or send targeted ads based on your online preferences. As you know, IP is another important browser fingerprint identifier, and websites can know where you are based on your IP address.
Changing cookies and IP addresses is easy. You can delete cookies or use a different browser profile, and a V.P.N or proxy server can provide you with a new IP address. Even better is the fact that websites are slowly disappearing from getting your cookies from third parties, which limits the ability of websites to understand your browsing habits. However, for marketers who need to manage multiple social media or e-commerce accounts, this is not enough. The ultimate reason for this is browser fingerprinting.
Browser fingerprinting includes the device's IP address, hardware, and software parameters. It can be collected through JavaScript and other technologies (such as HTML5canvas fingerprinting) to create unique profiles. There are many privacy measures you can take (such as using an ad blocker or using a less mainstream, more private browser) to hide your browser fingerprint, but this will only make it easier to distinguish you from other users, and using a mainstream browser is the best option for not being noticed by websites.

What pain points MuLogin Antidetect Browser can solve
MuLogin Antidetect Browser embodies two main keywords: management and anti-association.
Management: refers to the ability to batch manage multi-platform network accounts, support cookie import/export, account password-free login, multi-person sharing, and collaboration.
Anti-association: refers to the independent separation of each browser configuration environment, each browser file cookies, local storage and other cache files will be completely isolated, and browser configuration files cannot leak information between each other, to prevent the network account from being associated due to the same browser fingerprint.
The main groups currently using this software: are affiliate marketing, cross-border e-commerce users; webmasters managing ad placement, social media marketing and web information crawler users, etc.

What is MuLogin Antidetect Browser and how is it different from a regular web browser?
MuLogin Antidetect Browser has the same internal structure as regular Chrome or Firefox. You can use MuLogin to create utterly separate browser profiles. By creating a browser profile with MuLogin Antidetect Browser, your digital fingerprint will be completely disguised, and the site will recognize that a different person is accessing it from another device. The browser environment is completely independent, and information cannot be leaked between each browser profile.
MuLogin Antidetect Browser is not the only tool to protect the privacy of your digital identity. However, operating MuLogin is easier and more hands-on than running multiple different devices or virtual operating systems. You can also share profiles with others, which is very convenient for users, and businesses that manage multiple accounts.

How MuLogin Antidetect Browser Works
Browser profiles are created in MuLogin, each profile will not have the same digital fingerprint and the browsing environment is 100% completely independent. You can create profiles by clicking on the randomly get profile, or you can manually set and modify them according to your needs, such as user-agent, operating system, IP address, graphics card, fonts, plugins, media devices, battery capacity, Bluetooth, etc. The fingerprint of the profile created is different from the fingerprint of your real device.

MuLogin Antidetect Browser Main Uses
For personal privacy reasons, many people use anti-association browsers to protect their privacy and themselves from being tracked by websites. More users use MuLogin primarily to grow their online business - users can register, log in, and manage accounts on multiple platforms without being associated. The main uses are in the following areas:
Affiliate marketing
Using multiple advertising accounts to place marketing and increase placement flow in bulk operations to spread the risk.
Create multiple independent commerce accounts in e-commerce platforms to increase revenue and reduce the risk of online retailing.
Social Media Marketing
Create and manage an unlimited number of profiles through MuLogin, log in and manage multiple social media accounts at the same time, and set up your own access rights for each team member to avoid the risk of account bans due to different devices, environments, etc., thus effectively ensuring account security and improving team efficiency.
Ad Verification
Validate the target market selection and placement of ads by simulating users, different devices, and geographic locations to eliminate misleading ad creatives and broken links.
Retail Price Matching
Based on a visitor's geographic location, device, and browser history, retailers algorithmically adjust the prices of their products. Compare prices with a real visitor to avoid account blocking or scamming.
Ad Spying
Reverse engineer the user targeting of the original ad campaign by analyzing which social media accounts have placed which ads.
Web Crawler
Replaces several devices or virtual machines with virtual browser profiles that take up fewer resources. Provide call interfaces to ready-made fingerprint browsers for rapid development and use.
Brand Protection
Check for blocked resources in different areas to monitor and prevent anyone from illegally exploiting your brand.
Run Selenium tests in a LIVE environment to see how your site works with various traffic analysis and filtering system settings. See how your site's content is performing based on the specifics of your visitors.

MuLogin Antidetect Browser is a powerful tool for improving anonymity and managing multiple online identities and is a great choice for many marketers doing business. Visit the official website to learn more, and new users can enjoy a free trial!

2023.06.05 10:22 overlydel Genuinely going so crazy over what movie this was for years now that i bothered to make a Reddit account

So it’s starts out, animated, in the main characters dudes tinkeworkshop and he’s working on like this racing device for the kingdoms race, the race itself is going uphill and winds up to the top, there’s a princess character disguising herself so she can participate in the race and cue bad guys in the race trying to foil the MC and other competitors, anyway towards the top at the end of the race there’s suddenly this wormhole thing in the sky that sucks in ten MC, princess, and I think there was that typical supportive male friend of the MC that got sucked up as well. Anyway they get shot out of the television, turns out they’re animated characters of a kids show of whatever, when they got shot out they’re like proportional to Barbie dolls, I feel like the “real” world they got shot out into was also animated and not real actors but I’m not entirely sure. I think they got caught in a kind of late night diner place briefly and then they have to escape out into the open and then there was a scene where they’re on shelves and trying on dolls clothes, the villain and the cause of the dimensional hole was also a character from a different tv show that’s like a mad scientist and he figured out that there were other worlds, the tv shows, and wanted to control them or something
