I’m halfway through season 2 and so far I do not like Ki at all. The worst offense was yelling “murderer” at Ward after he killed Gavin. Does she really think that’s going to do anything and make him stop murdering people? She got them caught and then stepped on JJs hand coming down the ladder. Whether you say the camera broke due to the rushing or the fall, she caused both. She is entirely the reason they lost their evidence. She also tries so hard to be “not like the other girls” I hate it. Does everyone here hate her? Does her character ever get redeemed?

2023.06.05 14:13 SLEG48 None of the ROTI girls really liked each other ☠️

For context, one thing I missed from Gen 1 was that there was a lot of camaraderie and friendship between the girls. Leshawna and Gwen, Beth and Lindsay, Bridgette and Courtney, Gwen and Courtney, Katie and Sadie. Even Heather had a genuine friendship with Leshawna in Action.
And the more strategic, less fuzzy alliances between the girls were very prevalent too. Like the short-lived alliances between the Island girls during the merge, Izzy with Heather and Lindsay, and Heather-Beth-Lindsay pre-merge.
So you can see how it was pretty jarring when Revenge of the Island debuted with a pre-existing minority and deficit of girls (only 6 in the cast). And by Episode 5, we’re down to half of the girls (3/6) not even halfway through the season, with only 2 girls surviving past the midway point of Episode 7.
Aside from numbers, the nature of the relationships themselves were all either neutral or most commonly, downright negative. I’ll outline all the girls’ relationships with the other girls:
  1. Staci literally had no friendships or even positive interactions with anyone, let alone girls, because she was made to be an annoying first boot. Not much to say about her, but it’s not the best start since we only have 5 girls left.
  2. Dakota had no positive interactions either. She was annoyed by Staci, creeped out by Dawn, and had no interactions with the Maggot girls aside from Zoey, which was only an ultimately failed attempt of Dakota to make Zoey her ally since she was the only one she wouldn’t be “embarrassed to be seen with in public.” After becoming Dakotazoid, Zoey is scared of her and votes her off too. Ironically enough, each of the several times Dakota is brought back into the show, she forges no true bond with not a single girl. Talk about a Toxic Waste of Potential.
  3. Dawn creeped out all the girls and had no positive girl relationships or many interactions. Aside from that conversation on the beach with Zoey where she reassured her that Mike likes her (immediately after which Zoey gossips about her creepiness in a confessional), Dawn is also a non-entity.
  4. Anne-Maria had no interactions with any Toxic Rat girls. Her only interactions were with her Maggot teammates Zoey and Jo, and they were both fully negative. Anne-Maria and Zoey have a rivalry over Mike’s heart, and Anne-Maria is portrayed as the unlikable “other woman”. She insults Zoey every episode she is in. And she also has spats with Jo frequently over girliness vs. tomboys. They insult each other every episode too.
  5. Jo has no Toxic Rat girl interactions, and her only interactions were with Anne-Maria (again, fully negative and filled with bickering) and Zoey. Zoey is an interesting case. Jo once encouraged her to channel her anger into the challenge in Episode 5, but by the merge, she fully downplays and degrades Zoey and mocks her girliness, reducing her to “Apology Breath”. Aside from this, they have no good relationship.
  6. And as our season’s leading lady, you would think Zoey would establish at least one good, long-lasting friendship or even enemy relationship with a contestant. But no. Zoey is annoyed by Staci, freaked out by Dawn, and scared of Dakotazoid: these three relationships/interactions only last one episode (conveniently when it’s the girl’s elimination episode). She has that petty competition over Mike with Anne-Maria, which ends as predictably and shallowly as expected (Anne-Maria just up and quits after she serves her plot purpose of getting in between Zoke rather than, IDK, developing as something other than “the other woman”?) And Zoey’s interactions with Jo are never positive and shallow. Not a single relationship or rivalry at the merge. You would think the writers would want to do something with the only two girls in the merge…
So, I conclude that a combination of two things led to ROTI’s lack of sisterhood: squandered potential with the girls (getting out 3/6 of them less than halfway through the season and only merging 2 girls) + subpar writing of the girls and their relationships when compared to the boys.
To close out, here’s a list of all the male relationships that Sam, a pre-merge boot, developed in his 6 episodes. You all can compare this with the girls and draw what conclusions you’d like:
  1. Brick and Sam have a friendship. Brick respects Sam’s kindness and always trying his best, even honorably saluting him after his elimination.
  2. B and Sam have a short friendship and positive interactions. Sam admires and is impressed with B’s resourcefulness, creativity, and intellect.
  3. Lightning and Sam have neutral interactions, but respect one another. Lightning initially underestimated Sam as useless, but he impressed the jock and solidified his place on “Team Man” (what the Toxic Rats were called after all the girls were quickly booted) after showing his fast reflexes (swiping something without setting off a cheese trap) and speed (running up the ramp to save Lindsay).
  4. His most negative male relationship is Scott. The two dislike each other: Scott ridicules Sam’s lack of athleticism and Sam dislikes Scott’s insults. The two still manage to avoid the level of vitriol that Zoey and Anne-Maria (escalates to shoving) or Anne-Maria and Jo exhibit.
TLDR: This entire analysis serves to explain why I think, for lack of a different phrase, none of the ROTI girls really liked each other.

Hi Everyone,
Apologies as this is a long read,
I'm looking for some advice on my finances and wondering if there's anywhere I could improve on / missing anything that could really help me.
Bit of Background:Me (26M) and my partner (25F) are DINK renting an apartment, which we are definitely here for the next 2 years (1st May 2025 is when our current lease ends).
Currently, I earn 36k PA and she is on 28k (Rising to 30k by year-end). Both wfh jobs. She has some expenses in which we're paying off the flat so her savings atm are being built from scratch.
We both have student loans to repay (Welsh gov helps a bunch with this however). I pay around £58 amonth back currently. My take home after NI, TAX etc is £2,276.36. I put £100 into my pension so far in which my employer covers any contribs up to 5%.
My accounts:I have 2 accounts: one for direct debits, where I get paid, everyday use etc. This one usually has 4-5k sitting in there, its a Halifax account I've had since I was 16. The other is a First Direct savings account where I've put a max of £3600 in (7% AER when it matures) and another account with £7400 - so my total savings at the moment is £10k
Expenses and debts:My partner is clear of any debts. She had £7K loan a few years ago which has been settled a couple of years back, and she has a small amount credit card to help her score. Myself, I've deliberately over years accrued some credit debt, paid majority off, balanced transferred to a bank which offers better etc to build my credit score. Sitting pretty strong at 822 on ClearScore currently.
With our flat expenses, us sharing a car, pet insurance, food etc - core outgoings are around £741.49 a month each. My personal expenses (subscriptions that are essential - not like netflix!!), haircut, Credit card DD's, phone insurance, groceries etc - comes to about £233.26 a month. Personally, leftover a month I have around £1300. I put £300 into that First Direct savings account as that's the max they allow me to get the 7% interest on. Even after that, I should have around £900 / month.
Current Credit Card is an MBNA account with a £4400 limit (0% for 20 months), in which I've utulised £1700 MTD (well below 50%) - we also have an Ikea loan for a sofa which has £650 remaining. When we moved in we deferred around half of the purchases to credit card / BNPL services. I also have paypal credit with a limit of £1200, in which there is £150 that's owed back, so barely anything in the grand scheme.
Overall, I'd like to think my/our financial situation is pretty good - and should improve with our earning potential growing in our respective jobs. We have discussed that in 2 years, we will start exploring the idea of getting a home together, as we'd love our dog to have a garden and start a family there. Given that our careers have not long started and the housing market isn't great right now, we're not in a rush to get on the ladder (I'm aware time in the market usually is better that timing the market). Reality is that we're happy with our situation and believe we can save pretty well and have what we need currently. We live in a lovely coastal spot and we had a really good deal that we locked in with our landlady for 2 years. Realistcally, I'd like to have around around 30k personally when we're looking for a home. There may be some inheritance both sides should the worst happen to grandparents which we don't consider and would rather them around, of course! We're not relying on it. Should we not meet these loose targets in 2 years than that's okay, as long as we've strengthened our financial position year on year.
Question is:
Me personally, what could I do with my money that can improve anything? Is there something I can be done about where my savings is going or how much I am saving where I could improve? I know, I could probably put £500 in savings, which is something I'm considering but would like to pay for some things first.

  1. Inventory+Loot Filter: give me a little more space to pick up all the stuff, which you need in order to get your mats and gold. Or make gems go automatically into storage, they just clutter your inventory too much, when you actually pick them up. Also there exists no loot filter, just some options for configuring the sound of loot drops at different rarities?
  2. Stat-Sheet 1: I understand not everybody does need to see every stat, but right now I have no idea which stats contribute where and if they even appear in my stat sheet. e.g. Rogue has some skill, which lowers damage of poisoned enemies by 15%. This doesnt show in the stat sheet, whereas on items you can get the same stat, which shows. This happens for many more stats too and with all those damage multipliers it gets really confusing. You basically need to do your own Excel spreadsheed next to the game to remember all your stuff.
  3. Stat-Sheet 2: Then more importantly how do all the damage stats interact? Which damage is useful to have, does it even matter as long as you can fulfill all the conditions for your damage type -> e.g. +% dmg on crowd controlled enemy vs +% dmg on slowed enemy. Why would you ever want some conditional damage types when you can roll +all dmg% on everything. Probably because of different maximum rolls of the damage, but not very clear. Also how are all the damages added? Is it Addition of all +%dmg or are some damage types weighted higher than others, how do I get that info.
  4. Stat-Sheet 3 + Enchanting: I would like to be able to find out which stats can appear on which items, at the very least as info before rerolling at the enchanter. Pretty sure Diablo 3 could do that and it really is helpful + enchanting here is much more expensive and punishing as you need the Helltide materials. It would be very helpful to have another tab when pressing TAB ingame, something like a Codex/Help Library, where stats are listed and/or explained, what they do etc. -> would take that instead of the shop tab!
  5. Upgrading: there seem to be 'hidden' thresholds on Item Power which upgrade stat rolls on your items positively or negatively when overcoming them. e.g. 725+ Item Power had much higher stats on my sword than before getting over that value with upgrades. Why are those thresholds hidden and I had to find them on some obscure website, where they are only listed up to 725+. My Items are getting in the 800 ranges now, are there maybe more thresholds, which would improve them significantly by upgrading at the blacksmith?
  6. Items: It seems there are Normal, Sacred and Ancient items of all rarities. Why would you even bother with anything below Ancient after you reach that point in game (World Tier 4). The stats are just better and it feels really weird getting swamped with any drops of lower item type (Normal and Sacred) when you basically do not want to use them except for recycling.
  7. Attack Value + Profile: what does the Attack Value even say? People can do 100M dmg crits with 6k Attack Value at LVL100, while my profile says 6,5k at LVL65 and I dont crit for that much. When inspecting people in the game, why can you not see their Attack Value and Defense and HP at least, when the game wants to sell me those values as some kind of important stat (the real stat-sheet is literally hidden away). Ok you can at least check the gear of other people, but other than that? Seems to be a feature to show off your cosmetics rather than help you compare.
  8. Helltide: Monster density varies greatly and the crafting mats seem to only drop from the Helltide chests in small quantities, but most importantly you cannot always do Helltide. I really wanted to get those Helltide mats, which you NEED for enchanting and upgrading gear on the highest level and I just didnt have Helltide on my map during my Game Session. I really would like to play the game when I want to and not when some internal randomizer decides I am allowed to.
  9. Legion-Event: why would you want to do this event, does it give benefits I dont know of? It doesnt drop the Helltide exclusive crafting material.
  10. Map: It would be nice to be able to make notes on the map. You are literally swamped with hundreds of dungeons and cellars and whatnot, it would be really helpful to be able to mark the good dungeons for your Nightmare runs. e.g. Animus vs Stone carry stuff.
I am pretty sure this game was tested extensively and I am not sure, why some of those very basic things were overlooked or decided against. Namely not being able to see which stats can be rolled on items, how my stats interact and that Helltides are timed events which can actually disappear and you are not allowed to farm materials you need for progression.

A little background, I’m 21, currently a senior in college getting my CS degree but have been working full-time (in defense) pretty much the whole time. So I essentially have 2 years of full-stack engineering experience, was part of the first Netflix backend engineering pathways program, and should have my degree next spring. I really truly like the place that I’m at, but I can’t help but think that there may be something else out there for me eventually. For those that have seen many industries throughout their career, what has been the driver for you?
I’m a little torn thinking about where I should try to steer my career, I’ve met lots of highly successful folks in defense and the commercial space and being someone who values financial freedom I’m torn as to whether I should just chase the ladder and money or really push towards problems that I would really enjoy working on and solving in defense or industry (e.g. autonomous vehicles/UAVs or rockets or something).

How to participate

In the spirit of this community, only people who shared their tune on our subreddit will be considered for the winners podium. Tunes must be posted before the challenge closes, in a post of its own. If it isn't posted I'll move to the next person in line for the position.
For most challenges, the easiest way is to join our in-game club, that way your best time is automatically uploaded to the club leaderboard, unless your fastest lap ever isn't with a car that respects this week restrictions. You'll find a link to join at the bottom of this post. Because of game restrictions, some challenges will require to manually submit a time under this post or in a dedicated channel on our Discord server. If so it will be specified in the challenge description. Of course dirty lap times with a (!) won't qualify you.
If your best time isn't uploaded to the leaderboard, either because you were faster in another car or aren't in our club, we won't be able to validate your lap time.
If that happens, you'll have to upload video proof of your time as a comment under this post

I grew up playing rpgs. My dad introduced me to diablo 2 when i was four, and it's one of my earliest memories. My entire childhood i spent roaming the app store, steam, you name it, hunting for the right RPG. The problem was, no matter how many games i tried, they never ticked all the right boxes. My standards had grown immeasurably high. I don't know how to describe it, but in my head, there was a sensation of the "perfect rpg" which I knew could exist. The fact that I couldn't play it would gnaw away at me.
Then I went to college and majored in computer science. And I started dabbling in unity. At first it was really hard, but then I got the hang of it. I started making more games, and realized I had a knack for game design. I made a multiplayer first person shooter, which pit 4 players against each other in an arena (quake-style deathmatch), and my friends were hooked - we played non-stop for hours.
I then realized that I had the technical skills to make a real game. And not just any game: the rpg.
But I didn't jump right into it. I had never tried to sit down and articulate what the so-called "perfect rpg" in my brain was. Like I said, it was more of a sensation than a reason. So, i created a blank word document, and started writing down any thought that came to mind.
That was 2 years ago. Today, that document is over 200 pages long. I have spent large portions of time doing nothing except think intently about the most minute details of a game that does not yet exist.
What's weird, though, is how this has changed my perspective on life. I've never been this engrossed about anything. IK this sounds cringe, but it feels like my destiny. Not in any holy pre-determined kind of way, but in the sense that I've chosen this path for myself, and how it's the most significant thing that I will ever do. I feel slightly estranged from other people when I realize that they do not, in fact, have an equivalent in their life. But yeah I'm really excited about it and I'd thought I'd share this with you.

2023.06.05 12:45 Zwets High level characters, Heavy armor, and Hitpoints?

This is a question about melee characters fighting multiple encounters with creatures of CR17 or higher.
While building for AC is a great way to improve survivability as a melee character when you have less than 3 digits of hp, there presumably is a point where a Hide-Armor of Bludgeoning Resistance would be preferabele over a Full Plate +3 even with a dex of 10.
I as a DM have 2 players playing high AC melees. One is an armorer artificer, with 14 con. The other a sword and board rangefighter, that has the Shield spell and 18 con. The difference in HP between the artificer and the ranger is already causing a noticeable difference in turns spent on the floor for the artificer. Especially since Armorer has an actual taunt mechanic on every hit, this will only get worse for them going forwards.
Both are effectively half-casters that rely on melee attacks so this isn't about martial vs. caster (even though artificers seem like casters)

I would like to create a general house rule that solves not just my current issue, but that I could carry forwards into a next campaign.

With the goal to somehow give a non AC survivabily benefit that scales with level based on armor type, to help tanky characters remain tanky even when AC matters less.

Giving a smaller bonus to the ranger for their medium armor and shield, and a bigger bonus to the artificer for their heavy armor and shield.
I'm thinking holding a shield gives +1 (temp) max hp per level (of the class that granted you shield proficiency), and full plate gives +4 (temp) max hp per level (of the class that granted you proficiency), while half-plate gives 2.5 (rounding after totaling) Where the temp part means that if you equip/unequip the item your HP reverts, like the Aid and Heroes Feast spells.
Is this a good idea/bad idea? Aside from it being a dick move towards monks, is there any major problems I missed about his rule?
I think it could be an interesting way to change how my players look at dipping 1 cleric level to be a wizard in heavy armor, or about how AC from Mage Armor, Shield and Bladesong actually impacts survivability.

I’m finalizing my new character. She works as an automatic and wants to be a race car driver. I’m wither going with Extortionist or Osiris.
As an Extortionist she would repair vehicles and persuade/bribe people into giving her blood in exchange for her services. This gives me a freebie in Potence and I do need that lol.
Osiris could work too but her following isn’t that big and she’s not necessarily after fame/attention from others. Osiris would give me easier access to blood and probably less suspicious then bribe people for doing repairs.

  1. Tone Down Trinket Bonus: As it stands, all DPS classes are currently benefitting from a 25% trinket bonus. This needs to be cut down to a more balanced 20%.
  2. Boost Healers’ MMR: Looking at the stats, the top DPS in SS currently holds an MMR of 2466, while the top healer is lagging behind at 2367. This needs to be reversed - we should make it more achievable for healers to rack up higher ratings compared to DPS, possibly encouraging more players to take on the healer role.
  3. Balance All Healers: At present, the MW Monk is hogging the limelight in high ratings, making up 50% of all healers. This video 7 even states that without a MW Monk, you’re pretty much out of luck in solo shuffle. To combat this, all healers should be balanced to the same competitive level as the MW Monk.
  4. Scrap the MMR Cap: The current MMR cap in WoW simply isn’t working. Instead, we should look to DOTA 2’s recent MMR system and tailor it to WoW’s needs. Key features of DOTA 2’s system include:
Incentivize Participation with a PvP Trading Post: To maintain player interest, a PvP equivalent of The Trading Post could be introduced, where players can exchange Rating for elite versions of PvP sets from old expansions, elite enchants, mounts, and recolored versions of old gladiator mounts. To unlock these items, players need to maintain a high rating and play a certain number of games in the current PvP Trading Post month.
I want to explain my ideas a bit more detailed:
  1. Access to Recolored Gladiator Mounts: If you’re set on a recolored version of an old gladiator mount, you’ve got to put in the work. To get one, you’ll need to hit a 2400 rating in the current PvP Trading Post and play at least 50 games above that rating, similar to the criteria for a typical gladiator.
  2. Purchase with PvP Rating: Here’s a twist – what if we could buy all these flashy cosmetics with PvP Rating? Imagine you’re sitting on a 2400 CR and you’ve got your sights set on a recolored TBC Glad, but you’re also hankering for the S3 Legion Elite. To snag both, you’ll have to play more games to earn more CR. The good news is, your MMR won’t be affected, so there’s no risk of a drastic drop(by this I mean you wont play against lower tier players since your games will be based just on MMR). However, to keep things fair, we’d cap the CR gains at a maximum of 30 CR per win(this forces ladder activity). And if you lose, you’ll either stay steady or lose just a smidge, until your MMR aligns with your CR.
  3. Season End Protocol: Let’s shake things up a bit near the end of the season. About a month, or maybe 1.5 months, before the season wraps up, we’ll disable the trading post. This would let the top players duke it out for R1 and accelerate the pace of climbing CR to match your MMR level.
Here’s how the new system will work:
  1. Initial Calibration: Players will be put into a brief calibration phase, initially seeded by their previous rank. Unlike before, the calibration phase won’t be tied to a fixed number of matches. Instead, a player is considered calibrated when their Rank Confidence exceeds a specific threshold.
  2. Variable MMR Gain/Loss: Matches will no longer provide fixed MMR gains or losses. Instead, these values will fluctuate based on several factors, such as the Ranks and Rank Confidence of the participants. To avoid extreme outcomes, we will cap the gain/loss per match.
  3. Rank Confidence Deterioration: If a player doesn’t engage in matches for a certain period, their Rank Confidence will slowly decrease. This change ensures that skill evaluations remain current and that players who return from a break won’t struggle with inflated or outdated MMR values.
These changes aim to provide a smoother and more representative matchmaking experience, particularly for players returning from breaks(this will also fix the issue we have with people who achieved 3k rating in SL S2 compared to people who achieved 3k in DF S1(its just an example)). The Glicko algorithm, with its focus on Rank Confidence, should allow a more accurate and dynamic response to shifts in player skill levels.
