A technical writing position 'fell' into my lap as I was pivoting from teaching. I want to do well, any advice?
2023.06.04 00:32 throwawaybtwway A technical writing position 'fell' into my lap as I was pivoting from teaching. I want to do well, any advice?
I have been job searching for a while to get out of teaching. My uncle is an engineer at a big tech company and he told me that they are hiring technical writers for his department. He is going to talk to his boss and suggest me for the role. I am nervous because it's a big change from teaching. With teaching I do a lot of writing, but it's obviously different. I also don't have perfect grammar. Despite that, I am good at explaining complex ideas to a wide audience, I love technology, and I have been a math teacher, so I am good at dealing with dry subjects.
I want do well for the interview and also be competent if I am selected for the role. Does anyone have any advice? Suggestions? What would you like to see someone coming into this role have?

2023.06.04 00:32 PokingDogSnouts 32 [M4F] New Jersey/New York — Where have all the flowers gone?
I'd like to find somebody thoughtful, someone who isn't superficial. Somebody who appreciates the rich vastness of our shared multicultural past, and freely follows her curiosity in exploring it. Somebody who is trying her best to adhere to the guidance of her inner moral compass, and isn't so easily fooled by the distractions and illusions of the world.
One such illusion, that must immediately be mentioned (this is important, because it's led to a break for me, in the past): religion. Religion is man-made, and not of any higher authority. The Bible and the Quran all permit slavery—in addition to countless other horrid and divisive ideas—while claiming to be eternal wisdom, and that is indefensible. I still like to believe in the idea of some permeating higher morality, that imbues us with our general sense for justice, fairness, and empathy...but, I know that without outright proof, even my holding of such a notion can be deemed a flight of fancy, a residual remnant of a system so entrenched. However, it seems to me that life is often more than just what's on the surface. Um, but now, then—back to the person I wish to know...
I'd also love it if she were artistic. Singing, sketching, painting, writing, composing, creating. Someone who is trying to nurture their talents and passions. I know it can be difficult...
As for me, well... I adore music. Mostly voices from the past (the 1960s would have to be my favorite), because I find them to be humbler and more from the heart, at least in popular music. I’ll just give an example of something I’ve looked into, and this is nowhere near representative of my wider taste, but if you go back to early 1920s country music... (Here's an aside: a lot of what people think of as "country" today is a long cry from what the genre is actually like, historically. If you are into folk music—Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan—it is indelibly linked to "country", and if you'd like a popular example of a song that originated within the genre, look no further than the universally recognized "You Are My Sunshine", from 1939!)
Anyway. If you go back to that early period, where undiscovered niches of music were still sought out and first put to tape... a lot of those artists had no idea about anything to do with recording—no ego, no attempt to sound "cool". What came through instead was a bare expression of the life that had been lived—the inner beauty of their own personhood, and I love hearing that. It's so honest. A vulnerable and piercing expression.
So if you're into history or the beautiful music of decades (and centuries) past, if you have any aspirations for creating as a method of changing the world for the better, if you'd like to play games and watch movies together, if you'd like an accountability partner—or all of the above...please message me. I don't mind the chat function, either—in fact, it's probably easier. Also, to get this out of the way:
this is what I look like.
I love beautiful things. Nature, music that tugs at your heartstrings or is so honest you're enraptured, experiences that heal. More specifically, here are some of my current interests:
- music (singing/playing an instrument/the Beach Boys are my favorite group—I also love Maybelle Carter, Cass Elliot, Pink Floyd, Lana Del Rey, The Cranberries, Sixpence None The Richer, loads of video game music, The Smiths, The Beatles, The Who, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Harry Nilsson, Joni Mitchell, The Righteous Brothers, Judy Garland, Sam Cooke, Frank Churchill, Marty O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori... Here’s a brief go at the Beatles’ “Julia”.) And, if you liked that—a more recent one…
- drawing—here are a few I've done.
- video games (any era from Atari—I like exploring the history and evolution—to the Switch and PS4) [Currently playing, or starting: The Binding of Isaac, Catherine]
- Disney, especially the Golden Age and Renaissance—Pinocchio (my favorite movie ever), Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Aladdin, The Lion King, Tarzan. I love how handmade the early films look. And yet, how no expense was spared in creating these most precious and moving works of art.
- films/series/books I've enjoyed lately: The Sound of Magic, The Little Prince, Matilda, Love Hard, The Fundamentals of Caring, This Beautiful Fantastic, Donnie Darko, Alamut by Vladimir Bartol (this book was a key inspiration for the first Assassin's Creed), The Trial of the Chicago 7, Medici: The Magnificent, Pollyanna by Eleanor Porter, Judy
To close... I suppose I should say I've been afflicted with long-COVID for over two years. It'd be very nice to keep each other company, especially if we share any of the interests up above—we could watch favorite films, have shared listening sessions on Spotify, and it'd be a godsend to find somebody up to play on PS4 and Switch!
Donkey Kong Country 2 and
3 on the secret hard modes, maybe? Or sculpting our own world from scratch in
Minecraft? Or maybe we could act out
Ocarina of Time's storyline using all the options available on
Smash Ultimate!
I'd really like to know an intelligent person with a unique identity...who puts forth effort—though at the same time, no pressure on reaching out. If you are this type of person, but can currently only muster up a few words because, hey! Life is tough, and grueling, and we don't always have a ready-made letter in us to flip out of our pockets—don't be scared away by my tower of words. I absolutely know, firsthand, what it's like to
want to communicate, yet not currently have the energy or the mindpower for it. Life can really sink you... I promise I will not judge. Please send me a chat message, if you're at all interested in chatting.

2023.06.04 00:32 freshmonarch Trying to figure out the post game rewards system
After many many games I am trying to narrow down how the post game rewards are calculated. Obviously I can confirm if you win you get more. Past that however it get's tricky.
I've had games where I steamroll my opponent, 6 prizes taken. That's like between 135 to 155.
Just had a game where I was playing Mew and opponent was Lost Box. Long game, they took 5 prizes from me, I got 5 as well. Then on the last turn they conceded. That awarded me 125.
So I'm pretty sure I can also confirm that conceding, whether you win or lose is actually a losing proposition. You should always just let your opponent finish you off.
Start a game and instantly concede is 0.
Start a game and pass your first turn, then concede. That is 10.
Do nothing and let your opponent set up, just put basics on your bench and let your opponent take 6 prizes. That awards you 40.
I've also been experimenting in that space. There have been times when just attaching an energy and doing an attack each turn and nothing else. That can get you 55.
The highest I've ever seen is 175 but I can't remember the game state that got me there. I'm guessing it was a game where I took all 6 prizes and opponent didn't concede and they got 1 of my Mew VMAX getting them 3 prizes.
I believe I have had plenty of games where a loss still awarded me with more than 100 points, so the real takeaway is it's almost never correct to concede a game that is about to be over anyways.
Does anyone know if you get rewards for challenging friends? If so maybe someone can help me experiment and we can map this out.

2023.06.04 00:32 AdventureOfStayPuft The criteria narrows: I have 3 days of helpful education from SBCGaming and I have a budget ($250)
Thanks to everyone for all of the feedback/suggestions so far! This is by far the most helpful, kind & patient group of folks I’ve experience on Reddit! So refreshing!
I finally mustered the courage to ask the wife for a budget and it came back at $250. I’m the kind of buyer who buys the best car (for my needs), phone, computer etc and then contently uses it until it is nearly functionally obsolete or no longer useful.
So I’ve decided to get the best handheld I can for $250 (give or take a little).
My other criteria:
- I would really like for it to fit in my pocket. It’s possible that I would waive this criteria for a very compelling larger option, but the reality is that I’ll use it a lot more if it’s easy to carry around.
- while I’m an engineer and am theoretically technically savvy, I want the things I regularly use to work without much tinkering. I’m way more of an iPhone/Toyota guy than a kit phone/kit car kinda engineer. So yeah, I know I’ll have to set it up, and I’ll enjoy that, but I want it to be pretty easy to use on a regular basis.
- and since I’m probably going to buy this and not look at any others for the next several years (or until my kid wants one or steals mine) I’d like it to be as “powerful” as possible in terms of the games it can easily play. I’ll probably avoid games that are on the “bleeding edge” of the devices capability and stick to one’s that work well. But more is better than less since I’ll probably use this for years.
Initially I was thinking about a budget of $100 so I don’t really know what I should be looking at in this price range. Suggestions/trade offs are appreciated!
So far I have watched the Retro Game Corps review for the RG405M and it looks pretty good. I’m not sure how much the in-line triggers will bother me vs the stacked buttons in gameplay, but the in-line seems nice for the pockets… or only for the slimness, but it seems like in-line would be less likely to break going in and out of the pocket. But I have very limited experience playing games in the past 40 years so I have no idea how many will require two triggers on each side.
My questions are:
- what devices should I research in this space and what are your personal trade-offs/experiences with them
- What other costs should I consider? Like what size memory chip should I get and how much will it cost? What else will I need that costs $$? (A case?)
Thanks again for all of your help! It’s been baptism by firehose!

2023.06.04 00:31 tt_emrah for the good, the bad, and the ugly...
disclaimer: this will probably be a long one in my standards, and i wouldn't be able to read through it myself if someone else wrote it, but i really felt i had to.
i spent 3 nights in rome for the sevilla match, and watched the game at the olimpico. and i found out really beautiful things i had no idea about.
i've been a huge fan of this team since 2002, from far away. it actually started as me selecting it as a gaming team, then got carried over to real life day after day.in the earlier half of my life in my home country, i've been a die-hard galatasaray fan. even the team selection i mentioned above came from the colour similarity (just after the infamous match, i know...).where i'm coming from, football is fight, of the men. it's "when men go to war". it's filled with aggression and way too much ambition. whereas in time i realized that i'm in it mostly for the passion instead, despite galatasaray being a trophy hunter when i followed them closely. every fan wants their team to win, but this is about what you see around you when they don't.
in the meantime, i moved abroad to different countries throughout years, and the galatasaray fandom faded away significantly, if not completely (in the end, it's my roots). maybe because i never really liked living in that country. and after a long overlapping period of both teams, i think as roma fandom took over. i became a person who wears a team jersey or sweatshirt of kappa or diadora every-single-day. no exaggeration here, my wife hates it.
but i never realized the mentality difference between 2 fan groups all this time. i came to rome only once before (circumstances didn't allow for more), ~12 years ago. but i was fresh out of university back then, and hadn't lived aboard at all, so my observation skills were much poorer.
this week i landed and walked around rome with a 2002-03 red kappa champions league shirt (not the exact same shirt for 3 days, no worries), similar to what i wear anywhere. and the city literally embraced me with much love. from the subway employees to waiters seeing me only passing by when serving their customers, >60 year old grandmas, middle school girl student groups, men in suits, airport employees, you name it... shouting "daje roma", showing their fists, trying to speak to me in english (i need to learn italian, after 2 previously failed attempts), wishing good luck or sharing the heartbreak afterwards... basically showing their love and emotions to me fully, just because i love what they love, and i love the relatively older parts of it (re: the jersey).
native people of rome love their city and their team just the same way: like their child, and identity. only now i really get to understand what "una citta, una squadra" really means.and they are very closely tied to their history. it makes them somewhat tired, but also accepting things for what they are, humble people who are down to earth.
then i went to the olimpico on wednesday. the whole fucking city was there. it was families (large and small), couples, groups of friends, toddlers with ~20 year old jerseys on them, 60 year old ladies, loners like me... ok ok, i also saw the curva sud group over the bridge, but i'm talking about the majority here, you get what i mean. at first i thought "maybe the real hardcore group went to budapest and i'm with the sunday league fans here", but man i was wrong. all those different people turned into a single huge voice during the match. it was like a parent who came to watch their kid, and shouting their heart out in the process, and proud to stand there at the end, no matter what the result is. towards the end i messaged my wife "i don't think we have enough breath left in us to survive this", and we actually fell short because of, well, everything over the last few months with the referee as a cherry on top at the end. then all i saw in the silence of a whole stadium of people, also when walking back into the city altogether, was disappointment in the situation and heartbreak. not shouting, swearing, etc... yeah, "la roma non si discute, si ama". that's when i realized, i put my passion in the right place all along. i just didn't know it was an unintentional but very lucky turnout.
recently mourinho said (paraphrasing) "the people of this city live and breathe football, i just want to make them happy as much as i can". he's also a very emotional and passionate man, which is blinding him way too many times. i think he's able to empathise with the natives very easily. that's also why most of the fans love him so much, not only for the glory.
anyway, what i've been trying to say is, my dear native romans, just know that you have a very beautiful relationship with your city and team there, overflowing with love no matter what, and you should rightfully be very proud of it.and thank you for sharing that love with an outsider unconditionally. i know i will never be able to feel like you do for this team because of the simple fact that i wasn't born and raised there, but believe me i'm as close to it as one can get. i soaked the love in the air up as much as i could, and the jerseys i wear every day mean even more to me now.
we will always be here, for the good, the bad, and the ugly... forza roma, sempre!

2023.06.04 00:31 Slow-Complaint-3273 How to Unionize Your Spa/Studio
There are two strategies for organizing a union: “quiet as mice”, or “big and loud”.
“Quiet as mice” is a good way to build union support within your team before management can discourage anyone from unionizing. Even under the most friendly of managers, talk of unionization is rarely well-received. If you think you can keep your plans completely under the rug until you’re ready to petition, this is a good way of getting coworkers’ input and buy-in with less fear of retaliation.
If you go “big and loud”, that makes it harder for management to claim that they didn't know you were unionizing. Even in at-will states, you cannot legally fire someone for organizing for collective bargaining. If you are a good employee with no infractions on your record, and they suddenly terminate you when you just happened to be discussing unionizing with your coworkers; that doesn't look good for them if a complaint is filed with the NLRB (National Labor Relations Board).
- Discuss with your teammates whether your studio would benefit from a union and whether they are willing to fight for one. Unionizing isn’t always easy to accomplish. There are risks, despite laws protecting collective bargaining activities. Organizers have been fired, and corporate entities have been known to retaliate against employees and stores that tried to unionize. These actions violate NLRB rules, and employees can report them to the agency. But getting reinstated after wrongful termination can take a long time. Employees at unionizing spas may also be forced to attend mandatory meetings led by “labor-management” consultants. These consultants will try to convince employees to reject unionizing efforts. Managers might also suspend annual reviews, raises, or bonuses claiming that the unionizing efforts are disrupting administration. These tactics also violate NLRB rules, but companies usually need to be reported before the retaliations will stop.
- Decide what changes you want to see in your studio. These will be your demands that you bring to the negotiation table after you unionize. These can include whatever you need to be your best at your workplace: increased wages, better benefits packages, more control over your schedules and breaks, nicer uniforms - anything you feel will improve your work environment. Think big, and list everything. Then prioritize with your team which items are your deal breakers and which ones you can compromise on.
- Petition the NLRB for approval to form a collective bargaining unit. At least 30% of your team must sign an election petition to submit to the NLRB asking to hold a union election. When your petition is approved, you will need 50% +1 workers to vote Yes in the election to form a union. If your election wins, your management team will be required to set dates for negotiation. During these meetings, your union and your managers will bargain over your demands until a contract is decided on. This contract will guide how your studio will work together for a set period of time.
You don't have to unionize all massage therapists in your city or in the company you work for. A micro-union, or micro-unit, is a union of 2 or more people who work at a "shared community of interest" - a group of employees who work at the same location with a similar job description and similar educational or training background. If other studios decide to unionize, they will be able to form their own micro-unions as well.

2023.06.04 00:31 ThrowRAGarlic Leave my 27F boyfriend 27M of a decade for the betterment of his life
My boyfriend and I have been together since we were 17. I was his first everything. Before our relationship, I'd experienced a plethora of domestic and severe sexual abuse. When we first got together, we were very intimate. Since confronting my trauma around 2 years into our relationship, our intimacy and sex life has only declined. I feel awful. His love language is physical touch, but I don't know that I'm able to give him that ever again. Most of the time, any physical contact makes me queasy. It's rare at this point that I even want a hug. Our relationship is near perfect in every aspect except sexually. It breaks my soul that I cannot provide him with what he needs. I've been in therapy for about a year, but I'm not sure my sex drive will ever recover, at least to the point that would satisfy him.. how much longer can I make him wait. I feel like a horrible partner.. He never pressures me, but we've had a multitude of conversations about this, and I'm well aware of how it affects him. Neither of Us WANT to break up, but I know he deserves more. I'm so lost. I feel like it'd be selfish to stay, but I'm not sure how you're supposed to leave someone who's you're everything. What are your thoughts?

2023.06.04 00:31 redditor_1122 Is there a discord server for people who are still taking covid seriously?
I started getting into discord recently, and I realized how good it is for text and voice communication as well as video calls; so I was wondering if there is one for people who want to meet and talk with others who are still taking covid precautions. I know we have places like this subreddit, and there are some facebook groups, but I was hoping for something more interactive. I don’t really talk to my irl friends anymore or hang out with them because they stopped caring about covid. It would be nice to be able to talk with like-minded people consistently. If there isn’t a discord server, is there anything similar you would recommend? I’ve been severely lonely these past few years, and I would really like to make friends who have similar perspectives and values.

2023.06.04 00:30 needhelpforfriend__ Muslim guy here, dating a Hindu girl. We are quite serious and love each other. But the current situation and mindset of the country is really alarming.
I'm 24, born into a very religious yet supportive family. I met my girlfriend a year ago, we fell in love, now we plan to get married and have a family of our own.
Our families however... would never approve. My mom wants a praying, believing daughter in law. Her family wants get her married in the same caste, same place, same kundli, and are quite afraid of muslims and along with some of my old friends, and colleagues, believe or just afraid of the 'incidents' they hear about.
So, in this situation, I am asking this subreddit, what do I do? How do I make this work? We both know we'll have to leave our families and live on our own together, which we can fortunately afford thanks to our jobs.
But I don't want her to lose her family, her tradition. I know we can't have everything but... is there any way?
Any good advice is appreciated.
Also, I'm open to any questions. Thanks in advance.

2023.06.04 00:30 Polyphemus117 Despite his powerful connections, one of the most prominent gang bosses in New England simply disappeared without a trace. What happened to Danny Walsh?
As the Roaring Twenties drew to a close, it was obvious to the American public that the “noble experiment” of Prohibition was a complete failure. Despite the promises of religious leaders and lawmakers, the total ban on the manufacture and sale of all alcoholic beverages had led to an increase in crime and violence throughout the United States. A lucrative black market for illicit alcohol had created a climate that allowed organized criminal syndicates to flourish. Public sentiment was turning against Prohibition, and more and more voices called for its repeal. The shrewder gangsters realized that Prohibition would soon no longer be the law of the land and they would need to find alternate sources of income. As the more prescient mobsters made plans to go into alternate ventures such as gambling, sex work, narcotics, or labor racketeering, it was clear there would not be enough business to go around. Competition would have to be eliminated. The long established partnerships between Italian, Jewish, and Irish gangs began to fray. The former two, in many cases, conspired together against the Irish mob. Irish immigrants had arrived in the US earlier and possessed the advantage of already speaking English on arrival. Irish gangsters enjoyed exclusive connections with politicians and law enforcement officials- connections that the Italian and Jewish gangsters knew they would need for themselves once the country went “wet” again.
Accordingly, from the years 1928 to 1933, there was a wholesale massacre of top-ranked Irish mobsters and bootleggers all over the United States. In St. Paul, MN, “Dapper” Danny Hogan started his car and was blown to pieces by dynamite planted by his Jewish counterparts. In New Orleans, the Italian mob gunned down Bill Bailey in a drive-by shooting. In Brooklyn, Charles “Vannie” Higgins was shot and killed in front of his 7 year old daughter. Similar stories were happening in many major cities throughout the United States.
Rumrunning in Providence, RI, was largely done by Danny Walsh. Born to Irish immigrants in 1893, Walsh was a true underworld success story. When Prohibition became the law of the land in 1920, he was a lowly clerk in a hardware store. Fast forward only five years, and Walsh was a multimillionaire with multiple country estates and luxury apartments in Providence. Walsh had assembled a fleet of boats and airplanes that supplied the thirsty Rhode Islanders with liquor under cover of darkness. His fortune grew further when he became involved in the lucrative world of horse racing. Even the stock market crash of 1929 hardly slowed down the bootlegging business. Despite a few minor brushes with the law- including a much-publicized 1929 incident when the Coast Guard killed three of his men- Walsh seemed largely untouchable. Like many gangsters of this period, he was something of a public figure, the local press often reporting on the exploits of his gang.
Walsh consolidated his power by making connections with the elite of the both the upper crust and the underbelly. His friends in Boston included both the notorious mob boss Charles “King” Solomon and a fellow Irish-American powerbroker by the name of Joseph P. Kennedy- though you may be more familiar with his children and grandchildren. Known as a gangster who preferred to settle disputes with a handshake rather than a tommy gun, Walsh was reportedly respected and well-liked even among his fellow criminal kingpins.
Someone clearly felt otherwise.
On January 24, 1933, King Solomon was shot dead in the men's room of a Boston nightclub he owned. With Solomon dead, Walsh no longer had the protection offered by his alliance with a larger outfit. This may have been a contributing factor to what happened next.
On February 2, 1933, Danny Walsh met six associates at the Bank Cafe in Pawtuxet Village, RI for a business dinner. These six men saw him off as he got into his car to drive home. They were the last people to ever see Danny Walsh.
For several days there was no leads for any of Walsh's family, business partners, or underworld partners to follow. Finally, an anonymous note was delivered to Walsh's brother Joseph- a ransom demand for $40,000 to be delivered to the Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston. While the idea of kidnapping a mob boss for ransom might seem laughable today, the “snatch racket” was hardly uncommon at the time, especially as the Depression forced more and more people into financial desperation. Criminal operations usually considered it more pragmatic to simply pay the ransom and recover their operatives rather than lose whatever talents or skills they possessed, which would cost them more money in the long run. Joseph and a few of Walsh's most trusted lieutenants complied with the demand, bringing $40,000 in cash to Boston and handing it around a hotel room door to a man they could not see. They returned to Providence and awaited word of Danny's release.
Word never came. It became increasingly clear that Danny Walsh had vanished without a trace and was never coming back.Rumors spiraled in the press, the underworld, and even in an inconclusive federal investigation. There were reports of Italian men being spotted in the act of digging a large hole on one of Walsh's properties and sprinkling lime into it, but nothing came of further investigation. Some newspaper articles at the time gave lurid accounts of Walsh being stood in a tub of cement until it hardened around his feet and then hurled into the ocean- the first appearance of the “concrete shoes” trope that appears so often in gangster fiction. These, too, were dismissed as fabrication.
The disappearance of Danny Walsh has entered Rhode Island folklore. As recently as 2017, unidentified remains found in the area have been seriously investigated as possibly being his corpse. This practice will no doubt continue until a definite ID is made.
What became of Danny Walsh? In light of the wider wave of murders targeting Irish racketeers, it seems probable he was murdered. But who is responsible? Where are his remains? Was the unidentified man who collected a ransom at the Copley Plaza Hotel the real culprit or simply an opportunistic scam artist? It seems probable that anyone with firsthand knowledge of this crime is long dead. Perhaps one day acorpse will be found that will answer at least one question, but until then this remains unsolved. Danny Walsh is doubtlessly but one of many victims of violent crime from the “noble experiment” of Prohibition.
If you're interested in learning more about the story of Danny Walsh, here's a few good articles.

2023.06.04 00:30 No_Net7509 My bf of 4 years left me out of the blue
I met my now ex when I was 16 and he was 19. He was my first love, my first relationship, my first everything. He had dated before me but nothing as serious as our relationship. I’ll be honest, when we met we took the relationship quite fast. We started dating the same month we met. Neither of us ever regretted that though, we still took the time to get to know each other and respected each other. It only took a few weeks for us to start saying we loved each other, and after a few months we saw each other almost every day. We did everything together, absolutely everything. I even went with him and his family on trips. We were both included in each others families and felt so welcome. He was everything I had ever wanted, and he told me the same. We both said we felt like soulmates and wanted to be together forever by our third year. I was never so sure about something in my life. Of course we had little hiccups along the way but we never fought or said hurtful things to each other. We would both cry if we felt like we may have hurt the others feelings. We saw communication as the most important part of our relationship. So, when he gave me a promise ring for Christmas, I thought that was it. I thought he for sure wanted to marry me and loved me just as much as I loved him. I was so excited for our future together. Well, fast forward five months, he calls me the day after I hung out with him and his friends and says we’re done. He’s breaking up with me and there’s nothing I can do to fix it. He eventually drove to my house and gave me a reason. He just didn’t feel like doing it anymore. He wanted to be alone and do nothing. He didn’t feel like fixing anything or trying. He wanted to be lazy, hang out with his friends and play video games. I’ll say, we’ve had some problems like that in our relationship before. He would be lazy about certain things, but never when it came to me. He treated me like a princess. He always gave me the time of day no matter how busy he was. So when he told me this, I felt blindsided. After four years you simply don’t love me anymore? I saw him a few times after the breakup, and every time he would cry. I gave him the ring and a necklace he gave me when we first started dating. He fell to the floor crying. But he still didn’t want to be with me. It made me so confused. I tried my best not to text him but it was hard. I just wanted a way to understand how this happened. He said he had been thinking about it for a few months. That hurt me even more, because he told me he loved me more than anything every single day. How was I supposed to know? He wouldn’t tell me why he never brought this up. About a week after that, a friend texted me and said they saw him in public with another girl. I texted him so angry, feeling so hurt and betrayed. He said he was just trying to be there for her, she’s just a coworker going through a hard time. But you can’t be there for me? When you’ve known me for four years? After that, he was very cold towards me. He said he never loved me, wished he ghosted me and never cared. This whole time he was out partying with his friends. Eventually, he agreed to give me my stuff back. So I went to his house a few days ago. We talked for hours. We both cried. He told me he wished we could try again but he just doesn’t want to. That broke my heart all over again. He told me I was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, he loved the way I looked at him, and I had the most perfect smile. He asked to hug me and hold my hand. He looked at me lovingly. It almost felt like we hadn’t broken up. Then when I was leaving, he kissed me. I said goodbye to his family and he walked me out, but before I left he kissed me again. Why do all this if he has no feelings for me? How did he fall out of love with me if he says I was the perfect girlfriend? I’m struggling so much. All I want is to be with him and he doesn’t want me. He said he still wanted to be friends and he added me back on all social media. Idk how to be friends with someone I’m in love with. I guess I’m posting this to ask, why? Why is he abandoning our relationship after four years?

| Found me a pair of Rockdeep Wu tang kicks. Never heard of “Rockdeep” before after some research I read he was the ultimate scammer and took a lot of peoples money. He disappeared and I ran into these. Don’t really care much for Rockdeep but I had to cop these. They fit well but a little tight to get into. submitted by Gplock to Sneakers [link] [comments] |

2023.06.04 00:30 Androdion Fire Retal Commando - help with endgame min-maxing
So, my Fire Retal Commando finally came to be. I know I know, I could be playing a Fire Shieldbreaker or a Physical Commando, both of which would be more effective than this one. Still, after playing a Physical Retal Warlord I really didn't want to be playing in a similar way again, so this is what came to be.
Current form, with MI placeholder pants and shoulders for resists and relevant suffixes.
The idea is to get more relevant pants and shoulders, probably Anasteria's Leggings and Fabius' Shoulderguard for skill points in Ulzuin's Wrath/Field Command and Fighting Spirit/Grenado. Initially I wanted to use Serenity but Ulzuin's Pyroclasm is just too cool, plus I really need all the flat Fire retal I can get. Weapon and helmet grant RDatA to Forcewave and Cannister Bomb, amulet and gloves bring 100% Fire conversion on Grenado and Forcewave, and the rings convert part of the flat Cold and Lightning retal damage to Fire. So all in all this has been really fun, albeit a bit slow compared to my Warlord, as was to be expected. But the fact is that stacking several sources of RDatA makes if strangely effective, furthermore with all the flat Physical retal being fully converted on Forcewave and Grenado.
I'm also happy with how the Devo map turned out, it's very balanced. The point in Haverstman's Scythe is to get better Energy regen, as is the Arcane Spark component on the amulet. Turns out that having both Vindictive Flame and Counter Strike can be very energy intensive, so that more or less evens it out. I'd prefer to have full HS, but then it'd break my Devo map. Maybe I could get a couple of Dreeg's Foresight augments as well.
Question now is, am I blindsided in any way with my options? Is there anything that could make the build more effective? Am I missing something obvious? Are my current and future itemisation choices good choices? And in terms of attributes, do I keep the Cunning dump for more OA or is a Spirit dump a better option for added damage and energy regen? Do take your pick at my build and let me know what you think of it.

2023.06.04 00:30 One_Investigator_331 Another birth control my body hates
So, back story: I had the skyla iud for five years (two years longer than I was supposed to, but I had a lot of anxiety about getting it out and it was honestly still working). I got it out, went without birth control and used condoms and then had a planned pregnancy about 5 or 6 months later. I am one and done and as soon as I was able to, got the Mirena with plans of my husband getting snipped.
Well, about a year after getting the Mirena, it traveled and got stuck in my uterus. Cool. I can never have an IUD again. I also have ADHD and cannot trust myself to take my pills at the same time every day, had severe depression with Depo shots, and now the Nexplanon has given me what feels like morning sickness for a week straight at all times of the day. It has also killed my libido, had my period last nearly a month, and my hormones are worse than when I was pregnant.
My husband was scheduled to snipped in September, but has severe lower spine issues that effect his lower regions and his neurologist recommended against messing with the area.
All I want is to not have to worry about getting pregnant again. I’m very serious about my decision on being one and done. So, here’s to getting my tubes tied ASAP.

2023.06.04 00:30 Crofucije PSA You can play this game on PC with 8GB of memory just fine.
I have a Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8300H CPU @ 2.30GHz with 8GB RAM ... should be well below the minimum requirements.
My graphics card is the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti ... ok, but far from anything gamers use nowadays.
Playing on a laptop, low settings, monitor resolution is 1920x1080 but game resolution is at 66%, no upscaling. FPS limited to 30 to resolve overheating issues.
It's not the smoothest of the experiences, but it's painless with minimal stuttering during combat ... and still visually impressive. Considering minimum requirements state 16GB RAM, I'm beyond pleased with my experience.

2023.06.04 00:30 Paintlopedia Why does my rat push himself under the other rat's chin?
Maybe this is a bad way to describe it, but it looks like my youngest rat (7-9 months) will walk up to my older rat (1 year and 5 months) and push his head under the older rattie. It's kinda cute, but it's not behavior I've seen before. It almost looks like he wants their affection or attention. (Think how Disney animals cuddle, like when the male puts his chin on the females head, that's the picture I'm trying to paint.)
They're all males, and get along pretty well, there's never any blood and hardly ever even a scratch. I guess I'm just curious to see if anyone else has seen this, and/or knows an explanation.
Thank you!
