2023.06.02 00:03 nicolo013 Bio course suggestions for FA23
Hi!
I am a EAP Reciprocity student from Padua, Italy, and I'll spend next fall at UCSD! The last few days have been a little intense trying to make sense of WebReg and pre-authorisation requests, but I'm still extremely excited about this opportunity!
So far, I have enrolled in BIEB 146 and BICD 140, two courses that I'm required to take by home university (Biotechnology major). As for the other two courses I need to choose (I am required to complete 15 or more units) I was hoping you could help me choose between:
BIEB 152 - Meyer; BIPN 102 - Reyes Gonzalez; BGGN 213 - Grant (BIMM 143 is full already but I am very interested in bioinfo).
BIEB 152 and BIPN 102 final is on the same day (BIPN 102 also has two midterms), while BBGN 213 final is on the same day as BIEB 146.
Last but not least, do you think 4 courses will be doable? I have good time management skills but I'm still concerned

2023.05.28 01:07 miusace Will pay for a spot in BIMM 121 with Elizabeth Pickett or Katherine Petrie.
I have been given horrible enrollment times w23 and sp23 as a senior with 150+ units (Literally the same day Junior appointments start). Unable to enroll in BIMM 121 or even get off the shortest waitlists when I wasn't being teacher specific. After all I've been through I'm trying not to deal with Pirino per her RMP reviews and will pay anything to take the class with the other two prof.
My appointment time isn't as bad as before.. its tonight and Prof Pickett and Petrie both have full classes f23 is my final quarter at UCSD and Katherine is teaching w24 if you still wanted to take her and have priority. I'm willing to pay anything that you think is reasonable for a spot in their class just DM me.
Was thinking of quickly meeting up (I'm available at anytime able to meet you anywhere on campus or in SD) to do the exchange where I'll pay you we just open webreg next to eachother you drop I refresh and add. If you had a different idea of doing the exchange let me know I'm open to anything that sounds secure.

2023.04.15 08:56 Kitchen-Substance-63 Webreg Bug Question
I just enrolled a course which I haven't taken the prerequisite, which I believe is a webreg bug. Does any meet this situation before? Will I be kicked out of this class or be punished later if UCSD find me to do this?

2023.03.02 23:03 Amicabl Why couldn't they pause enrollment if WebReg was only working for some?
I just had to sit for over 40 minutes doing nothing but refreshing WebReg over and over knowing that according to UCSD_ITS, other people had been successfully enrolling for the previous hour. Thankfully, I made it into my classes but just barely.
This all could have been avoided if enrollment was paused during the technical issues and enrollment times were deferred. Maybe there are some logistics that would have made pushing enrollment times too difficult but the extreme stress of knowing I could do nothing while my classes continued to fill up just fucked up my whole day.

2023.02.23 03:03 AdoryVo An alternative tool for exporting WebReg as a calendar
| Hi all, hope your class enrollments have been going well! First off, I would like to recognize and commend the great WebReg tool designed by the UCSD Rocket Dev Team that was shared yesterday! Please check out their project and deliver your kudos for their hard work. With a bit of unlucky timing though, I finished a similar project around 2 days ago - a tool that will let you quickly export your WebReg schedule into a calendar file by clicking a bookmark in your bookmarks bar. From there, you can import the file into your calendar app of choice like Google Calendar. WebReg imported into Google Calendar However, I do not want in any way to take away from the use or value of their tool as it still entirely functional and well-designed. That being said, I still want to share my project for anyone who might find it useful as an alternative! If you're interested about the technical differences: One main difference between our projects is that theirs uses OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to read text from an image of your schedule while mine uses web scraping to directly read & parse the text on the WebReg webpage. Both of our projects abstain from persistently storing any of the information read in though, if you had any concerns about privacy. The instructions can be found here: https://adoryvo.github.io/calendarize-webreg/+ the source code here: https://github.com/AdoryVo/calendarize-webreg/blob/main/calendarize.js Hope some of you can find this useful! Any feedback would also be appreciated. submitted by AdoryVo to UCSD [link] [comments] |

2023.02.12 01:37 course-grapher-ucsd Make course planning easier with GrAPE, the course grapher for UCSD students!
| I created a website that helps with course planning by visualizing prerequisites as graphs - check it out here! https://coursegrapher.app Home page When I first started trying to plan out my courses at UCSD a couple years ago, I found it pretty hard to keep track of which ones I had to take and in what order. I then had the idea of drawing out courses visually to better understand their relationships. That idea led to this project, named GrAPE (inspired by the CAPEs we all know and love). Descriptions from every course in the official catalog are available on this website, and if it has prerequisites or is a prerequisite for other courses, then you can see it clearly and easily. For example, here's the prerequisite graph for CSE 127: Graph for CSE 127 You can interact with the graphs too in order to explore them further! GrAPE works on desktop and mobile browsers, and I plan to update it regularly as the catalog gets revised each quarter. Please note that the information presented in GrAPE may not be 100% accurate, and you should definitely check it against Webreg, your department website, etc. Hope y'all find it helpful, and good luck with enrollment! submitted by course-grapher-ucsd to UCSD [link] [comments] |

2023.01.09 05:33 Kavhow Read this before posting about missing Canvas courses
If you enrolled in a class more than a few days ago, check the
All Courses page. Your missing class will be there. If you check on desktop, it'll even have a Published column. If it says No, that just means the professor is still working on it and hasn't pressed publish yet. If it's not published by the first lecture and the course is in person, just show up to class. Some professors won't get Canvas all set up until after that. If it's a remote class, maybe shoot the prof an email a bit before the lecture if they haven't reached out but overall just be patient. It's entirely the professor's choice on when to publish it if you see it listed as unpublished.
If you just added a course on Webreg recently (like last 48 hours) and don't see it on the All Courses page nor the dashboard, it's fine. Just wait a day or two and you'll be added automatically and it will show up on All Courses.
When in doubt email the professor but overall just be patient.

2022.09.27 21:05 asmrosey I'm waitlisted in a class but not pre-authorized
I'm waitlisted in a course and the major department just sent me an email saying to drop the class and re-enroll but I had just moved up on the waitlist line. I viewed the course # on webreg but it still appears that there are no available seats. What should I do?
The email reads: " You have been pre-authorized to enroll in the course listed below. This approval does not imply enrollment action. It is your responsibility to enroll in the course via WebReg at act.ucsd.edu/webreg2. If you are already waitlisted, you will need to drop yourself from the waitlist, and then re-attempt to enroll in the class. "

2022.09.01 20:56 Ok_Vanilla_8176 Chamber Orchestra Auditions?
I'm planning on joining chamber orchestra fall quarter, but there doesn't seem to be any information on how things are going to work. It says
here that more information is in the audition section of advising, but I don't see anything useful there. There is information for auditions on
this page, but it looks out of date since it lists a different instructor. I also notice that nobody has signed up for the course on webreg.
Does anyone know what's going on?

2022.07.11 22:29 Kavhow Incoming Student Enrollment Megathread
Hello everyone! This thread is to help incoming students select classes, professors, etc, so if you are an incoming student planning your schedule please post your questions here. Incoming student enrollment begins on
August 17th, with incoming transfers first then incoming first year students after. Enrollment times are randomized your first quarter at UCSD and you will enroll using the two pass system. Effectively, this means you'll have two enrollment times listed, the first one which allows you to have a total of 11.5 units (two 4 unit classes, usually) and the second which allows up to a total of 19.5 units (so that you'll normally be enrolled in four 4 unit classes in total). This will allow you to select two classes you're really needing and prioritize them above your second two classes.
Things to keep in mind:
- Most departments are saving seats for incoming students in common classes for transfers and freshman! If you see 0 seats available in a class, don't panic. Instead, try searching Google for something like "UCSD course updates". You'll often find a page with more details about saved seats. If you don't find one, still don't panic. Just keep an eye on your email and make a few alternate plans just in case. There's still a very good chance there will be at least SOME seats saved.
- Don't enroll in too many hard classes! I recommend enrolling in 4 classes (normally 16 units) with the idea being you can drop one of your classes later if it becomes too much or you make a mistake. Keep in mind you can drop classes without a W or any indications you were ever enrolled until the end of week 4 of the quarter! Take advantage of this (but preferably drop before the end of week 2 so people off the waitlist can take your spot). Do keep in mind some lab classes have earlier deadlines than week 4, some as early as the 2nd class section.
- For most waitlists, follow the 10% rule! Roughly 10% of a class section will drop, meaning if the class has 30 people in each section and you're 2nd on the waitlist, you have a good chance of getting into the class. This does NOT apply to writing classes (amongst other classes as well), as students rarely drop these classes.
- Make your own 4 year plan and don't be afraid to change it/leave some things generic for now. Base it on the 4 year plans from your department (either on their website or plans.ucsd.edu but feel free to adjust.
- You can enroll in basically any class as long as you meet the pre-requisites listed on the catalog, but keep in mind the number of classes you need to graudate!
Some helpful tools and info:
- Tritonlink Tools: This website lists like EVERY tool you'll need with a description. You can access it right from the Tritonlink homepage. This is much easier than trying to use the dropdowns on the webpages.
- Webreg: Pronounced "Webreg", this is the tool you will actually use to enroll. Also a great way to browse the schedule of classes. You can use the dropdown next to "My Schedule" to create more schedules so you can plan multiple options. You'll want to have your courses planned before your enrollment time preferably with some backup options before enrollment begins so all you need to do is press the "Enroll" button. This is also where you view your appointment time.
- Your major department's website! Usually, you will have major plans, course info, etc on here.
- Your college's website! Tons of details on GE requirements here.
- UCSD Course Catalog: Course names, numbers, descriptions, and prereqs all easily viewable here. Get familiar with the courses you'll need to take.
- Old Maps/New Maps: Old Maps is accessible on Webreg by pressing a class' building name on Webreg, but is missing some newer buildings. New Maps is more up to date, but you'll need to search it manually. If you don't see a lecture hall listed on Old Maps, check New Maps. If you still don't see it, Google something like "UCSD reddit" and look for a recent post asking about it.
- 4 Year Plans: Find 4 year plans here. These really should be a starting point at most, definitely make your own and do extra research, but it can help give a bit of an idea of what's going on.
- Degree Audit: Degree Audit provides a list of all your requirements and shows how you meet or don't meet them. This is good as a way to double check things, but do not rely on it! It is not always accurate (in which case you would need to contact VAC to have them correct it) and it provides no context behind what each requirement entails. As well, as incoming students your college and AP credit from other institutions may not be processed yet, making your Degree Audit out of date.
- CAPE: UCSD's official professor and course evaluation tool. Preferable to RateMyProfessor as it has real data. I would be suspicious of any data from Winter 2020 to Spring 2021 because of how COVID changed some classes. If you ask "What professor is best for X?" we'll probably refer to CAPE and maybe some anecdotal info.
- RateMyProfessor: RMP is less reliable than CAPE, but it can still provide some useful insights. Take it with a grain of salt though.
- EASy: The Enrollment Authorization System allows you to submit requests to bypass prereqs. An option, but it would probably be best to discuss with VAC first if you plan on using this your first quarter.
- Google: Cool tool to find the answers to almost everything! But seriously, this is a great way to find what you're looking for. It's faster to google for an answer than ask in this subreddit most likely.

2022.06.01 01:31 Hatshepsut_4 UCSD, could you please change the view book list function on webreg back to what it was before
I can't even see the textbooks I need for summer or fall because the only term option rn is Spring 2022.
Also the functionality is trash and now we have to click 5 drop down lists per course instead of just getting a nice clean list. The alternative is to log in, navigate to account overview, go to curriculum, then click on the drop down list where the only term available is Spring 2022 anyways. Who even fucking authorized this in the first place?
Sorry mods, delete if not allowed

2022.03.03 01:58 XxJezuesxX Will I get CSE 20 in SP22?
So I am taking CSE 11 from a community college. For UCSD to see that I am eligible for CSE 20, I have to post my final grades of CSE 11 on EASy. That means I can enroll at the beginning of SP22 (not sure exactly when).
Is the course trendy? Looking at the available seats on webreg I think I might get it, but I want ot double check. Will I get a spot for CSE 20 if I enroll at the beginning of SP22 (Maybe week 1 of SP22)
