2023.06.07 09:32 FMSskinandhair Best Scar Removal Treatment In Hyderabad

Scars
Scars are formed when body tries to heal deeper or penetrating injuries by formation of thick tissue than normal skin. It is a natural process of healing to repair the damage done to the skin. Newly formed scars are red or light pink in colour with slight itching. As the scar matures, there is more deposition of collagen and fibrous tissue giving them white colour.

TYPES OF SCARS

Different types of scars are seen depending on multiple factors like size, depth and thickness.

TREATMENT:

Depending on the type of scar, treatment varies. Oral antihistamines if there’s itching. Intralesional Steroid with triamcinolone is given in keloid. Other procedures done are surgical removal, skin grafts, excision, or laser.

Balance Changes
Boomerang Monkey
This part has to be included along with the Lych Soul rework with Paragons which is finally making it in this update after necessary delays. As Boomerang Paragon’s knockback hits so many times so quickly, we need to make it more reasonable when applied to targets that aren’t immediately destroyed.
Bomb Shooter
MOAB Assassin fills a useful role of a pure long cooldown ‘single target assassination’ in the game, but when compared to something like First Strike it feels a little lacking that it is unable to carry damage through MOAB Layers
Tack Shooter
Blade Shooter has always struggled to find much value without MK or as a step to Maelstrom, so to give it build value on its own we feel like this should be a part of the base value on the upgrade.
Ice Monkey
Lowest tiers of ice monkey are far too effective for their cost against ceramics, with this scaling well all the way to round 100, we feel like ice duration against ceramics needs to be reduced to counter this but for now this reduction will only apply until T3.
Glue Gunner
The Bloon Solver’s rework has been very popular, however, we’d like to have a better lead up into the new mechanics by introducing this earlier at the tier 4 now.
Sniper Monkey
This will allow Cripple MOAB to take out regular MOAB layers in one shot until round 100; for such a slow attacking single target tower we feel this will help top path flex, even if mostly for show.
Monkey Buccaneer
Reworking Grape Shot crosspathing as it gains far too much crosspath value by T2 but then is lacking in purpose at higher tiers, double shot will only work as one extra grape however Destroyer will now apply its full attack rate buff to the grapes and Flagship will equip aspects of Grape Shot on the mini planes.
Monkey Ace
Spectre is shifting a little of the ceramic bonus around into basic all damage at the cost of reduced pierce, which should make up for lack of single target damage while also making the pierce crosspath more necessary when being used for cleanup focus.
Heli Pilot
Even with the map-range advantage, rotors are weak compared to any other constant AoE circle like this. Chinook feels like it’s near a place we are happy with now, however we want another tiny nudge on cost while keeping cash generation value the same. Pushing some higher values on the last Comanche Commander changes as the missile attack is effectively such a small portion of the tower’s total damage late game.
Mortar Monkey
As the Rapid Reload crosspath has actually fallen behind in value compared to Burny Stuff for top path Mortars we want to try a slight stun duration increase as this buffs the base path with a larger benefit to Rapid Reload mortars as a stalling option. Mortar consistency is lacking at x3x making it tough to spend on even though x4x is fairly good, so some of the T4 rate is shifting down to help out with this. As the camo property has grown quite weak and currently Signal Flare is considered the best decamo tool, we want to push back slightly on its cost and by reducing the blast radius of the decamo area while emphasizing crosspathing for effectiveness there.
Super Monkey
As Engineer sentries do this already, newly spawned Mini Avatars from temples will now by default match the target priority of the temple.
Ninja Monkey
We’re changing the Ninja Monkey Paragon’s focus as a fighter against camo, as we feel like a greater strength and tactical value against camo will be the full reveal of all camos rather than all camo removal.
Alchemist
Alchemist Transforming Tonic is in a weird spot with the transformation unable to attack through walls when the base alchemist is able to. Also with this, including a QoL fix for the T5 that currently prevents transformed towers from functioning with target priority.
Druid
While the tornado doesn't do anything to MOABs, it still spends itself on them which wastes a relatively long cooldown, so addressing this flaw. Avatar of wrath doubles the base attack speed before any scaling is applied, but this hasn’t ever applied to the 205 Lightning, so taking care of that as well. Housekeeping - even deep in the forest, it does actually make life better.
Spike Factory
We’ve heard the feedback, so Spiked Mines get a tweak to get more mines exploding but with less pierce on each, to overall increase quality of life in more frequent use but less wasted pierce. This will help out with some of the problems it has scaling into late game super ceramics.
Monkey Village
A minor QoL for cheap Monkeyopolis creation, we included a small base amount of cash production to the generation formula.
Engineer
The 005 crosspath fix in the last update left XXXL Trap slower than previously even if crosspathed to 205, so we are increasing that base 005 slightly to match up the 205 crosspath again so that it isn’t any slower than before.
Beast Handler
As our newest tower to be added to BTD6, we went over feedback for every path and made a large number of adjustments addressing a variety of points.
Gwendolin
Removing the stacking aspect of Gwendolin’s burn damage over time, but increasing the damage as she levels up so that it actually scales up in power now.
Adora
While they are complicated individuals, Adora can now fully appreciate the sacrifice of the newest Monkeys in the struggle against the Bloons.
Admiral Brickell
We aren’t happy with strats that start looking like exploits with frequent sell-replace loops.
Psi
Psi’s stalling out of the end of round is an odd mix of useful / annoying / out of control, so we are for now capping this to a 3 seconds of overtime stalling. Psi’s Psychic Blast ability also has weirdly low pierce for a long cooldown ability with no damage, we are increasing the base pierce greatly but it no longer increases in pierce at Lv7 since the extra pulse brings more pierce anyway.
Event / Boss / Relic / Knowledge
Looking Forward
Five months of 2023 done and dusted, which feels to us like it has zoomed by, perhaps because the Auckland office where the BTD6 team is based has only just reopened after the severe flooding at the end of January. All of Update 36 and the majority of Update 37 were completed while again working from home, but we’re very excited to have the office repairs done, the flood wall almost finished, and the ability to work shoulder to shoulder again on fun new things for the monkeyverse! Here’s the latest gaze into the crystal ball:

2023.06.07 08:57 hatebonelessbiryani Body repair and maintenance feels so exhausting.

Hi friends, I would really love your thoughts here. I have PCOS and I'm trying to lose weight. I'm working with an orthodontist on my teeth overjet and crowding, for which I am also scheduled for wisdom teeth removal. I'm also working with an ophthalmologist for my eye issues and getting custom lenses for a scar beside my iris, a dermatologist for my sunspots and various skin concerns. I'm preparing to get fat transfer to breasts, a rhino, surgery for a benign tumor, trying to figure out how to alleviate my hair loss, getting laser for UNMANAGEABLE body hair and keratosis pilaris. This is to name a few things. I'm constantly fatigued because of my obesity, insulin resistance and PCOS issues so being on top of all this feels super hard, not to mention unfamiliar, daunting and challenging as someone who never cared about herself for 4-5 years because of crippling depression. I have no one to share this journey with either - I live alone and I'm single, which adds a bit of loneliness to the mix too. Any tips to navigate the fatigue, fears and emotional toll? I really want this year to be a repair year.

2023.06.07 08:34 Skinclinicindelhi Revolutionizing Medical Treatment: The Rise of HIFU Treatment

High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is a cutting-edge technology used in the treatment of various medical conditions, including cancer and cosmetic enhancements. HIFU treatment has gained significant popularity in Delhi over the last few years, and many medical centers now offer HIFU treatment in the city. This article aims to provide a comprehensive guide to HIFU treatment and the cost of HIFU treatment in Delhi.
How does HIFU work?
HIFU treatment uses high-frequency sound waves to target and destroy cancer cells or to tighten the skin. The treatment does not require any incisions, and there is no downtime required. HIFU treatment in Delhi is performed by a qualified medical professional who uses a special device to deliver high-frequency sound waves to the targeted area. These sound waves create heat, which destroys the targeted cells.
Benefits and cost of HIFU
One of the main benefits of HIFU treatment is that it is a non-invasive procedure. Unlike traditional surgery, HIFU treatment does not leave any scars. The patients can return home on the same day as the procedure, eliminating the need for an overnight hospital stay. This makes the treatment much more convenient for patients who may have busy schedules.
The cost of HIFU treatment in Delhi can vary depending on several factors, including the area being treated, the extent of the treatment, and the medical center where the treatment is performed. It is essential to keep in mind that the cost of HIFU treatment may not be covered by insurance, so patients should check with their insurance provider before undergoing the treatment.
In conclusion, HIFU treatment in Delhi is a safe and effective option for patients looking for a non-invasive procedure to treat various medical conditions. It is especially beneficial for patients who are looking for a convenient and less invasive treatment option. As with any medical treatment, patients should consult with a qualified medical professional before undergoing HIFU treatment to ensure that it is the right option for their specific needs.

Only weeks after approving revamped guidelines that allow gay men to donate blood without previously-required screening for AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases largely prevalent in the LGBT community, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention sounded the alarm for a potential outbreak of monkeypox.
https://headlineusa.com/bidens-fda-flips-on-gay-blood-donations/
In an ominous assessment issued late last month, the CDC warned that an “uptick in mpox cases in Chicago that began in mid-April underscores the risk of renewed mpox outbreaks, which we judge is substantial across the United States.”
https://www.cdc.gov/poxvirus/mpox/cases-data/risk-assessment/may-2023.html
Mpox, the preferred moniker since monkeypox was cancelled as racist by Biden regime leftists, has remained relatively rare in the general population while persisting to cause concern for LGBT communities where transmission rates are highest.
https://www.ctinsider.com/news/article/Is-monkeypox-racist-Officials-call-for-17338727.php
The concern gained added urgency last month with the looming onslaught of so-called Pride Month parades, festivals and protests.
“CDC continues to assess that the risk of resurgent mpox outbreaks is substantial in the United States,” the agency wrote in its May update. “The risk of outbreaks could further increase as people gather this spring and summer for festivals and other events with high potential for skin-to-skin contact or increased sexual activity.”
Adding to the potential crisis, the CDC also acknowledged that it was exploring a theory that the monkeypox virus “may have evolved mutations to evade the two-dose Jynneos vaccines that were rolled out last year to protect against it,” CBS News reported.
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/cdc-mpox-cases-summer-resurgence/
The possible mutations were detected “in a cluster of cases” around Los Angeles, which officials said indicated that drug-resistant monkeypox could be transmitted person-to-person in at least “rare cases.”
Those cases could spread rapidly in a tidal wave of LGBT Pride events scheduled across the country, including large cities that are hotspots for LGBT activists.
“Cases of mpox in San Francisco remain low, however, we remain watchful, as several new cases have recently been reported in other parts of the country,” San Francisco Health official Dr. Susan Philip said in statement released by the agency “in advance of the summer season and Pride Celebrations.”
https://sf.gov/news/san-francisco-encourages-mpox-vaccinations-advance-summer-season-and-pride-celebrations
“We want to make sure that everyone can enjoy a happy and healthy Pride,” Philip said.
In response to the monkeypox cluster outbreak in Chicago, the Biden administration is weighing a recommendation for more mpox vaccine boosters. A shift in strategy might be needed, said the regime’s national monkeypox response deputy coordinator, Dr. Demetre Daskalakis, reportedly seen in April spreading the Biden doctrine in Las Vegas at the 2023 Biomedical HIV Prevention Summit.
https://preview.redd.it/99icqqzc7j4b1.png?width=749&format=png&auto=webp&s=c99d1c9aec59100776b4bdfcc481cc8d473c397a
https://twitter.com/bennyjohnson/status/1567861469974331392
We’ve already, really immediately after seeing the Chicago cluster, convened folks within the U.S. government to discuss what the data is that we have and if there needs to be any change,” Daskalakis said last month.

Phish

Phish, Thursday 06/07/2012 (11 years ago) DCU Center, Worcester, MA, USA
Gap Chart, Tour: 2012 Early Summer Tour
Set 1 : Buried Alive > Runaway Jim > Torn and Frayed , Funky Bitch , The Moma Dance > Rift , Nothing , Ocelot , Beauty of a Broken Heart , Possum , Rocky Top
Set 2 : Carini -> Taste > Ghost > Boogie On Reggae Woman > If I Could , Quinn the Eskimo (The Mighty Quinn) > Harry Hood > Cavern > Buried Alive Reprise
Encore : Loving Cup
Jamchart Notes:
Possum - Unusual jam which breaks into very un-"Possum"-like sections at 6:00 and again at 7:00. Not typical at all, but very exploratory for "Possum."
Carini - Deploying an array of instruments and effects, including the theremin and bass effects, the band uses these tools to create a lush, densely textured and largely upbeat jam which -> to "Taste."
Taste - -> in from a excellent "Carini." Page is great in this version, which is also features Trey playing both a "Norwegian Wood" tease early in his solo, as well as the "NICU" riff signaling the concluding section. > to a strong "Ghost."
Boogie On Reggae Woman - Segues out of "Ghost" and includes some serious hose from Trey and reaches several satisfying peaks. Drops back into a funk groove for the last minute and the jam fades away into "If I Could".
If I Could - > in from a powerful "Boogie On." Heartfelt and thoughtfully executed version adds a graceful ending to an impressive string of improvisational music.
Show Notes:
Runaway Jim included a Buried Alive tease, Possum included a Beauty of a Broken Heart tease and Taste included a Norwegian Wood tease (all from Trey). If I Could was last played on November 21, 2009 (102 shows).

Gap Chart, Tour: 2011 Early Summer Tour
Set 1 : Llama , The Moma Dance > Possum , Cities , Instant Karma! , David Bowie , Rhymes 1 , Divided Sky , Stealing Time From the Faulty Plan
Set 2 : Back on the Train > Rock and Roll > The Mango Song , Bug , Pebbles and Marbles , Halley's Comet > Meatstick > Run Like an Antelope
Encore : Suzy Greenberg
1 Phish debut.
Jamchart Notes:
Divided Sky - Determined to make up for some serious flubs in the 5/31/11 version, Trey in this instance introduces some very cool and very different staccato playing during the jam section.
Rock and Roll - Another excellent version with an extended jam that at various times is rhythmic, melodic, spacious, and powerful. Segue to "Mango Song" continues to draw praise from fans.
Show Notes:
This show marked the Phish debut of Rhymes. Antelope contained Meatstick, Bug, and Divided Sky teases. Suzy also contained Meatstick teases. After Bug, the crowd chanted "Let's Go Bruins" prompting the band to play in rhythm with the crowd's clapping. During the "Rye Rye Rocco" segment of Antelope, Trey introduced Fish as "Ladies and Gentlemen, on cymbal, Jon Fishman!" after he had missed the band's unified stop in the song.

Phish, Sunday 06/07/2009 (14 years ago) Susquehanna Bank Center, Camden, NJ, USA
Gap Chart, Tour: 2009 Early Summer Tour
Set 1 : Chalk Dust Torture , Fee , Wolfman's Brother , Guyute , My Sweet One , 46 Days , The Lizards , The Wedge , Strange Design , Tube , First Tube
Set 2 : Sand , Suzy Greenberg , Limb By Limb , The Horse > Silent in the Morning , Sugar Shack 1 , Character Zero > Tweezer
Encore : Joy 1 , Bouncing Around the Room , Run Like an Antelope > Tweezer Reprise
1 Debut.
Jamchart Notes:
Fee - Like 7/5/98, a vocal flub leads to an extended outro jam that quickly moves beyond the norm. Page's ambient effects and Trey's use of the whammy pedal combine to create a jam reminiscent of the late '90's sound.
Sand - One of the first great jams of 3.0. This version contains an old-school groove which goes "type 2" via a funk jam and an uplifting conclusion by way of a repetitive, descending riff from Trey.
Tweezer - The "Camden Tweezer." Old school, repetitive, amazing groove. Like a '92-'94 version.
Show Notes:
After forgetting the lyrics to Fee, Trey remarked that "We knew this one backstage." This show marked the debuts of Sugar Shack and Joy. Before the extended encore, Trey asked, "You guys in a rush to go anywhere?" He then talked about how much they had enjoyed the northeast run and that they wanted to play a few more songs before heading south (though he was careful to note that they love the south, too).

Phish, Wednesday 06/07/1995 (28 years ago) BSU Pavilion, Boise, ID, USA
Gap Chart, Tour: 1995 Summer Tour
Set 1 : Possum , Weigh , Taste 1 , Strange Design , Stash , If I Could > Scent of a Mule , The Wedge , Funky Bitch , Slave to the Traffic Light
Set 2 : Ha Ha Ha > Maze , Spock's Brain , Theme From the Bottom , Hold Your Head Up > Lonesome Cowboy Bill 2 > Hold Your Head Up , Acoustic Army 1 , Sample in a Jar , Harry Hood , Suzy Greenberg
Encore : While My Guitar Gently Weeps
1 Debut. 2 Fish on trombone.
Jamchart Notes:
Possum - Several sections have a bleak and desolate tone, especially from 4:30 - 5:45, but the foreboding sentiment returns later.
Taste - Debut. Jam section features the same spiraling Trey and Page musicianship, but the lyrics, vocalist, and ending would remain a work in progress for another year. "The Fog That Surrounds" and "Taste That Surrounds" are both very similar (related) songs performed in 1995 as the band tinkered with the format for "Taste." See the song history for "Taste" on this site for more information.
The Wedge - "The Wedge" reemerges to close a 135 show gap. Notable principally for the now-familiar Fish-driven intro, this compact version also features cool and confident play from Trey.
Theme From the Bottom - Jam section has an unusual, repeated descending chord progression. At 8:20, it morphs into a creepy, nerve-rattling jam, returning to "Theme" proper at 9:55. The quality versions from 6/25/95 and 7/1/95 have a similar descending chord structure.

2023.06.07 07:10 StrikingCourage3768 What is Underarm Rejuvenation?

Your underarms should generally be of the same skin as the rest of your body but sometimes those are of a darker tone. While dark underarms are not a cause for concern, they are definitely a cause for embarrassment for a lot of people, especially for people who love to wear sleeveless and tank tops.
The darkening of the skin happens due to a condition called acanthosis nigricans which basically causes the skin to thicken and become dark on folds all over the body. The most common areas that become dark are the underarms, back of the neck, groin, elbows, and knees.
The pigment cells on your skin are known as melanocytes which are responsible for causing the darkening of the skin. AN can be genetic but sometimes hair removal can cause it. Repeated shaving or plucking can stimulate the production of excess melanocytes which can cause the underarm to darken.
There are many reasons that can cause the darkening of underarms some of the causes are diseases like obesity, diabetes, hormone imbalances, and side effects of medications. But darkened underarms are not a permanent condition. You can get rid of them with specific treatments and wear the tank top you always wanted to flaunt.
One of the common causes of pigmented underarms is the constant waxing and shaving which causes the skin to produce more melanocytes. You can solve that problem immediately by choosing an alternative for hair removal. Get permanent laser hair reduction, no more waxing, and shaving. Laser hair reduction saves money and does not cause any pain or darkening of the skin
Chemical peels like retinol can work on the darkened skin and remove the topmost layer of the skin giving way to the new skin underneath which will be brighter and smoother. This typically takes time and a few sessions to see results and it also depends on the individual’s skin and how pigmented their skin is.
Laser treatments and dermabrasion can help in the resurfacing of the skin which removes the dead skin cells from the topmost layer of the skin and helps in the regeneration of new brighter and smoother skin.

2023.06.07 06:28 Zagaroth [No Need For A Core?] - CH 089: Mushrooms

Cover Art <<Previous Start Next >>
Early the next morning, as the sun was just cresting the horizon, Bellona was putting the last of her gear onto a merchant wagon. With the change in plans for several routes that came with the news of the new dungeon came an opportunity to start the first part of her route with some company. For the first leg, she’d be accompanying a caravan, then going by horse alone for the second leg, before going on foot for the last leg. It made her logistics easier, she didn’t have to worry about feed for the horse for most of it.
The champion of Amirume went over her mental checklist one more time as she adjusted the position of her stuff, making everything as neat as possible. All her heavy armor was in the chest, until she was setting out on the last leg there was little reason to wear more than a chain shirt. There was little chance of danger on the main roads, so her axe she’d keep at her side and her shield on the horse. Even when traveling solo, it would be easier on the beast to distribute the weight of her armor rather than have her entire armored mass centered on its back.
For the last leg, when the horse would be left behind, she’d wear her full kit. If you were going to be carrying the weight anyway, there was no better distribution than to wear it. That would also be the section where she’d be traveling up mountain paths, and she didn’t look forward to it. She’d worn her armor for days while moving and fighting across relatively flat land before, but days of going up a mountain in armor were going to be quite different. Fortunately, it was early summer, so the mountains wouldn’t be too cold on her way up.
.
After Moriko had reached the monastery, Mordecai and Kazue had turned their attention back inward, for it was time to build. As usual, Kazue went first. With her plans finalized, the walls of the cavern on the fifth floor shifted and formed tiers, enabling ever-higher placement of mushroom buildings, and larger structures that could spread their weight on supports of multiple heights.
This was a large village of artisans, crafters, farmers, athletes, entertainers, writers, philosophers, and similar professions. She expanded on her tokens idea, to pass through the gate required five tokens, but the laganthros were free to hand tokens to one, some, all, or none of a party’s members as they saw fit, and the tokens would attune themselves to those who they were presented to. She also borrowed from Mordecai’s double-door concept: the first door could be opened by anyone who had five tokens, the second door would open only if the first door was closed and everyone inside the corridor had five tokens, and the first door also can’t be opened unless the second door is closed.
In addition to the more straightforward challenges she’d been thinking of previously, she had developed some slightly more complicated quests. Many professions use heat, so a challenge could start with “My fire drake wandered off and I can’t find him!”, leading to tracking down the drake, then figuring out the sub-challenge (it might be somewhere hard to access, or be distracted by a love interest, or maybe it found a shiny to large for it to carry but won’t let it go and hisses at any one who gets close, etc), solving the issue, and then they might still need to persuade the drake to come home.
There were many variations of ‘I need a thing’ that could be made into challenges, and the first obstacle was unstated: The inhabitants could pick the challenge, and could make it harder. If they didn’t like you, it would probably be long and involved, and wind up getting dirty, wet, and cold. So being at least reasonably polite made everything much easier. It wasn’t terribly likely that this would be an issue by the time someone got this far, but Kazue had decided that she was going to include variability in all her future challenges that made things easier for people who were being nice.
Now, people needed proper settings for them to venture into, so she spun off side caves of differing layouts and environments; some were jagged rifts that required navigating a lot of vertical terrain, some were wide with one or more streams or small ponds, others saw a return of crystal outcroppings, and a few were mildly caustic with acidic, alkaline, or salty environments. Nothing too dangerous of course, unless one was exceptionally foolish.
With many of the available challenges being at least partly physical, she started arranging for appropriate rewards as well. Mordecai had made sure she now knew how to craft some of the common physical enchantment items and how to alter their form and fine-tune their secondary abilities. A belt that could let someone carry more weight, boots that made you a little faster or made your steps quieter, a cape that could keep you warm or could help you blend into the background, and many other possibilities.
Not that she neglected the mental side either: glasses that could help decipher an unknown language, a pen that always wrote smoothly and without smearing and with unlimited ink of your choice, crafting tools that enhanced the product you made, and several other items of specialized use were all available rewards. She wanted the rewards here to be more focused on helping people better their skills, rather than rewarding them with direct knowledge as the library did.
Of course, sometimes people would be coming through who knew more than anyone in the dungeon did on a topic. Their challenge would be to teach, and rewards would generally be in raw materials unless there was other information they wanted.
She did have to be careful just how generous she was though. From dawn to dawn, there was a limit to how much the dungeon could create that could be claimed as loot, and they could only ‘stockpile’ for values that had already been won or that they already owed as part of a trade agreement. Their inhabitants were not so limited, but only if they worked with ‘real’ materials rather than ones created directly through dungeon mana, and it took a fair amount of time and effort to craft even a minor enchanted item the proper way. So unless there was a good cause, the items the inhabitants crafted were their own to use or to trade as they saw fit.
When Kazue was done she looked over the town to make sure she was satisfied with her work. There were towering mushroom spires, thick-walled squat mushroom buildings, long buildings made from many mushrooms grown together, and every other combination that had been asked for that she could make work. A lot of them were ‘dummies’ at the moment with no roads to reach them or doors to enter them, but she’d change that as the population grew. She even had a few unoccupied buildings growing from the ceiling, which were left available to be claimed by any inhabitants that could make their way to them. A little challenge and reward set up for her own people, figuring out how to make flying magic items or systems.
Creating the lighting had been one of her favorite parts. There had been a few concepts she’d considered, such as just making every mushroom and fungal surface glow slightly to create a very even and ‘sourceless’ lighting, but in the end, she went for something a bit more flavorful. The underside of the mushroom caps glowed to illuminate the area around their base while large glowing ‘spores’ floated overhead to cast a dimmer radiance to the general area, and all the paths were marked with tiny little puffballs that would collapse in a sudden burst of glowing dust spores if disturbed, most likely coating whoever messed with them and leaving a glowing residue that would smear the more you tried to rub it off.
All of the fungal-based light was in a soft blue/green color, but in addition to the ‘natural’ lighting, the inhabitants had access to fire and normal light spells, making the interior of the buildings look warm and inviting against the backdrop of perpetual twilight outside. Overall she rather enjoyed the contrast of slightly spooky exterior lighting and warm, inviting interior lighting.
.
They’d had plenty of time to build up lots of energy since Kazue’s mother had come through, so technically Mordecai could have built up his side at the same time. But he felt it was best to wait until she finished in case there were any surprises. The upside-down houses on the ceiling had not been in their original ideas for example, though in this case, they didn’t cost a significant amount more. They did, however, give him an idea to add later.
For now he focused on his original plan. At the entrance to the fifth floor, visitors would find themselves entering a wide campsite. There was no equipment, but the space was obviously cleared with a small, 2-foot tall ‘fence’ of piled stones and a fire pit in the center. There was also a plaque that read:
This area is neutral territory for the two warring factions beyond, but animals and monsters do not know such distinctions. Proceed at your own time and in your own way, there is no one path or one method to success.
Combat challenges were fun and straightforward, but even the library was only a warm-up. Beyond the cleared campsite stretched a dimly lit mushroom and fungus forest that gave away nothing of what lay in wait for brave adventurers to face. Or at least would, when he was done.
Mordecai started with the terrain. The campsite was going to be slightly disadvantageous in that it was at the bottom of a shallow depression. All ways out were uphill, making it impossible to see most of the cavern from here even without the addition of a forest. From there he varied the terrain, creating twisting valleys, solo and clumped hills, the occasional small ravine, and very few areas of simple, flat land. If one tried hard enough, one could even find thin trails running along the walls of the cavern, but those were carefully placed and angled to be difficult to spot from below. Once done with the layout, he created a few springs to become the heads of several streams that eventually combined into a river that flowed into the boss chamber at the end of the cavern.
Back toward the entrance, he also introduced a small, natural ‘alcove’ with three waterfalls coming down along the inner curve of the wall into a small pool, which in turn started its own stream. These three waterfalls were connected back to the warren’s water network, making them part of the ecology of the dungeon. It was also time to add a layer of complexity: rather than just having exclusive pathways for different water uses, he started using nature’s filters of rock, soil, and sand to keep most of the impurities flowing into the sewers, and then let water seepage work its way into various underground ponds, which in turn became the sources for further streams. He made sure the paths alternated going into airless pockets and into caverns that were half-air and had light sources embedded in the ceiling to let photosynthesis take place. All natural purification. This was the source of the water for these three waterfalls and introduced the preexisting biome into this floor.
Now he looked at his entire catalog of available mosses, lichens, and fungi to select the best ground cover options, then he carpeted the entire floor in a mixture of this ‘grass’. Not entirely unaltered, Mordecai did fortify them to make them more resistant to being walked on and generally tougher, but for the most part he left them alone in their design. He was also doing a wild-seeding mix, to let them all compete and find their preferred environments. And there were plenty available, every single visitor had brought in various spores and tiny seeds that most humanoids never realized were clinging to them and shedding from their skin at all times.
He’d also been very considerate of Kazue’s origins. While she knew how to zoom in on material structures, he’d carefully avoided showing her how that technique could be used to examine all the tiny critters that lived on people all the time. Mordecai had found out a long time ago that most people did not want to know about them. It did however provide a source for the next layer of this floor’s ecology, filling all the undergrowth with tiny creatures invisible to most people. Once Mordecai was satisfied that everything had reached a self-sustaining state, it was time for the ‘trees’ of this forest.

2023.06.07 05:56 Weary_Bodybuilder541 My Grandfather's Lilacs [Sensitive Content: Body Horror]

Has anyone else had a forgotten memory surface after smelling something? For me, the smell of lilacs in the summer drags up an odd recollection indeed. The year is 2002, and the sweet smell of lilacs surrounded me as the summer breeze dance among the purple-white flowers above me, their tendrils dancing in the wind. I’m lying on my back in the scratchy grass near my grandfather’s old, but well maintained barn—painted a rust red. The sun is slowly making its way beyond the horizon, leaving the sky a mix of darkness and shades of red, orange, and purple. Strands of clouds float far above, driven like cattle by the winds at higher altitudes. It’s peaceful. I spent almost every summer in high school out on the farm with my grandfather, a gruff, green thumbed and silver tongued old man with smile wrinkles as deep as a desert dune. A perfect memory of a nice summer day, no?
Something always feels odd about it, though. The grass is scratchy, but in a searching way. The lilacs hanging from the boughs above me dance in strange rhythms, moving in wind I cannot feel. And my grandfather stands just out of eyesight, staring intently at the sun as it dips slowly out of sight.
My grandfather recently passed away, at the exceedingly ripe old age of 109, though he hated talking about his age. Living through all of that he did—two world wars, the end of segregation, all the twists and turnings of a century of human civilization. A monument of a man, and a well regarded member of his little slice of society. In the latter half of his life, he began growing and tending to the lilac trees I mentioned earlier. They were a bit different from other lilacs, although I couldn’t really tell why—they looked the same, felt the same, smelt mostly the same (a bit of spice to them, if that makes sense), but cuttings would always would wilt quickly when they were far from him. He always said that they were just accustomed to his presence, and so grew wistful and melancholy in his absence.
All this to explain my surprise when I received a small potted lilac sapling in the mail, deposited carefully on my doorstep. The sapling smelled of summer days long past, with a small handwritten note from my grandfather, the words shaky from the crumbling control he held over his hands:
“Grandson,
I entrust this child of my grove to you. The lilacs always enjoyed your presence among them, and you seem to have inherited my green thumb.
Don’t be afraid of them.
Love,
Grandpa”
I don’t know when he had the time to write the note or send it, as his death was sudden—he was found leaning against one of his lilac trees, the oldest of the grove, with a smile on his face and sightless eyes. At least it seemed he had passed without pain, which is really all anyone can hope for. I was a bit confused about the “don’t be afraid of them” part, but maybe he meant it to assuage my fear of killing the tiny tree, the last gift he gave me.
I truly loved my grandfather. He filled a hole the absence of my dad left in me, a bitter wound that served to make me lash out at my peers and those close to me. He was always gentle, though gruff, and I still remember him telling me, “Grandson, your father wasn’t a bad man. Misguided, yes. Xenophobic, certainly. Bad? No. Don’t let his absence taint your life.” It was the advice I needed at the time, and I was able to get my emotional ducks in a row by the time I finished high school (well, maybe a few years after, but he set me on the right path.)
And so, after I received the sapling, my life slowly returned to the routine it had before he died. It grew slowly, agonizingly, imperceptibly slowly. I was worried at times it was dying, because progress was so slow.
It wasn’t until I cut myself while pruning a dead leaf, spraying the soil with my blood, that the sapling started really growing.
The growth coincided with the dreams.
I kept the sapling in my room, on my windowsill next to several succulents and a pitcher plant a friend had gotten me from an exotic plant dealer. It had no flowers, but smelled faintly of the lilacs it would hopefully one day come to bear. The night I had nicked myself, I went to bed following my usual routine—I’m going to run through it here just in case someone can point something that could have lead to the dream I had:
First, I brushed my teeth (with toothpaste, mint). Next, I took two melatonin pills, and my antidepressants. Lastly, I took a big drink of water, looked in the mirror, and said, “Lilac Lilac you’re the best, you are better than the rest”
Just joking about the last part, but really what I normally do last is say goodnight to my plants. After wishing each of them goodnight and cracking the window to let air circulate, I hopped into bed and wrapped myself in my weighted blanket. I’ve gotten my bedtime routine down to a fine science and so I was asleep less than 30 minutes later.
I woke up, and my grandfather was crouched next to my bed, peeking over the side and staring me in my just-opened eyes. His mouth was out of my line of sight, but I could see his cheeks move as he said, “gr and son” in that cadence over and over again, all the while staring into my eyes like he was searching for something.
Needless to say, I tried to move or say something, to tell him I loved him one last time, even though clearly this was a dream, but shortly after opening my eyes I felt them drooping and “fell asleep” again shortly after—falling asleep in a dream is a super weird feeling.
When I woke up for real the next morning, the lilac sapling had cracked its pot, pale roots intermingling with the potsherds clinging to the dirt. It had grown overnight, and had maybe gotten a half head taller. Weird way to describe a plant growing, I know, but it feels right. Of course, I was ecstatic that it had finally grown, and that I wasn’t slowly killing this last connection I had with my grandfather. I called out of work and transferred the sapling to a larger pot which would serve as a home until it grew large enough to go in my backyard, HOA be damned (what’s with all the weird rules on what I can do with my property!?).
I still have dreams along the same vein as that first one, though my grandfathers vocabulary and grammar has been improving—he tells me stories that he told me when he was alive, and I wake up feeling rested and happy. But if that was always the case, I probably wouldn’t be posting here, would I?
I’ve been having another dream recently, as the lilac sapling—now a fledgling tree—grows larger, and it frightens me. It’s a continuation of the memory I talked about in the beginning. I get up from the ground, an imprint of my body in the grass, and my grandfather tells me to head inside to bed, that he’ll be in a bit later as he has “some work to do in the grove”. I head inside the farmhouse, and get ready for bed, sneaking a sip of the mead my grandfather brewed from the lilac trees, and go to sleep. Usually, I don’t wake up, but something wakes me this time. I go check on my grandfather, expecting to hear his jet-engine snoring, but it’s silent. I get worried, and open his door, seeing his bed empty and unslept in. I go back to my room, and try to go back to sleep, but images of him hurt after falling from a ladder or some other accident with nobody to check on him fill my mind. I grab my flashlight, and head to the side door in the darkness, moving smoothly through the house I have memorized like the back of my hand. It’s very dark outside at night, so far from any city, and the silence is cut only by the soft drone of bugs in the distance. The moon beams down at me, providing just enough light to send my imagination into overdrive, farm equipment becoming monsters waiting to eviscerate me in the cold night. Every crunch of gravel beneath my feet is an affront, my flashlight a beacon screaming “I’m here, and I’m tasty” to any creatures in the night. But I press on, driven by the thought my grandfather could be in trouble—after all, why would he still be out?
Once I reach the grass, it gets a bit easier. The faint smell of the lilac grove moves towards me in the wind, and I feel a bit braver. I pass the barn, and reach the outer ring of lilacs, my flashlight passing over the waving flowers. It feels almost…rude to keep it on the trees, like talking in the middle of a sermon, so I turn it to the ground, illuminating the pale roots of the lilac trees, and walk towards the center of the grove. My eyes slowly adjust now that I have to use them to look in front of me as I creep forwards, feeling nervous at the prospect of finding my grandfather. What if he’s dead? What if he’s out here to get some privacy? I don’t know what old people do. My flashlight flickers, and I think I can see my grandfather standing ahead of me, looking up at the branches of the lilac tree. I raise the flashlight up, and call out for him, only to see his face peeled back in ragged pieces, his eyes unseeing on flaps of skin as his exposed skull, full of lilac flowers, extends thin white tendrils with pulsing purple veins into the oldest tree above. I see the tendrils coming from the tree, intermingling with those coming from him, and I scream as his neck slowly swivels but his head doesn’t turn at the same rate, the tendrils writhing together like snakes in a pit and his face starts knitting itself back together like sewing patches onto a jacket—starting to hide the lilacs and the lilacs are him and the lilacs are everywhere and their spice fills my nose and I’m on the ground—
And my grandfather stands over me, a sad smile on his face, and purple darkness finds me in the lilac grove my grandfather grew.
Then, I wake up, and I feel strange, smelling the strong scent of his lilacs. I’ve been seeing lilac flowers blooming in the corners of my vision, and sometimes it looks like something is moving beneath my floorboards, but I chalk that up to how tired I’ve been recently.
The reason I’m telling all of you this is that I tried to move my bed recently, and when I was able to shift it (with great effort), I saw pale white roots entering the posts from my floor. I’m starting to get very, very worried.
Is this going to affect my security deposit?

2023.06.07 05:39 Username01007 When we Fought: Nightmares Pt. 3: A Darktide Inspired Short Story

Lightning crashed onto the now empty no-man's land.
Candorick peeked above the trenches. Nobody in sight.
The battle in this area was approaching its fiftieth day, and the space inbetween fortifications made that clear. Craters filled the destroyed land, burned out remains of Leman Russes were scattered throughout, and the corpses of dead heretics and loyalists almost formed another layer of ground. The land was dark and gray, and the pouring rain didn't help the aesthetic.
Being Whiteshields, the gun he was handed was a hand-me-down standard pattern lasgun, probably belonging to someone whose corpse was scavenged for anything useful. His still had a little bit of human on it when it was handed to him.
Candorick felt a sense of impending doom. Suppose being in the trenches always gave you a feeling of death, but this felt different than before.
Candorick’s Whiteshield company had been placed in the frontlines after a failed push resulted in the death of a majority of the regiment assigned to the trench.
Most of the other Whiteshields were younger than him, some were as young as twelve, who had just been given a gun and told to fight. Candorick was one of the older ones of the group, being sixteen. The only other sixteen year old was Merok, who helped man the squad’s lascannon.
Candorick looked above the trenches one more time. He just couldn’t shake the feeling something was coming.
“Everything ok there Candorick?” Merok asked.
“Yeah… yeah, I just can't shake this feeling that something is going to happen.” Candorick replied.
Rain poured into the trenches, creating a layer of water up to Candorick’s knees.
“I’m sure we’re fine.” Merok said.
“If anything does attack, that’s why I’ve got this lascannon right?” Merok slapped the barrel of the gun.
Merok turned to the other Whiteshield, a 14 year old kid, manning the lascannon.
“Stocks doing good?” Merok asked.
“Yep, everything is in order, charge packs match up with how many we had yesterday, and all parts are in top shape.” The kid responded, saluting to Merok.
“Good. Listen, Candorick, we’ll be fine, they would be foolish to attack in this rai…” Merok stopped as the sound of a massive amount of footsteps echoed from the no-man’s land.
“BATTLE STATIONS EVERYONE!” the squad leader said as everyone along the trench prepared their guns to fire.
Candorick looked down the lenses of his recon binoculars. A massive charge of heretics was coming at them rapidly.
“KILL EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM!” The squad leader said as every soldier began to fire their lasguns at the heretics. Merok began to fire his lascannon repeatedly at the few armored targets coming with the charge, ending them almost immediately. When no vehicles were around, they fired at the charging infantry, killing multiple with each individual shot.
Candorick fired upon the approaching enemy as well. Eventually, one of them struck one of the incoming heretics. That was the first time Candorick had killed someone. He watched as they clutched their chest and fell to the ground, letting out a scream as they hit the muddy land. They clutched their chest for a bit, before going limp.
Before then, he had never really thought about his first kill. It was just seen as something minimal, a stepping stone of sorts on his way to becoming a veteran guardsmen. But to see it with his own eyes, it was different. He thought of all the things that person must have lived through. They grew up, they loved, they suffered.
And all of that ended when Candorick put that laser into their chest. In training, he had always been told that the heretics “weren’t human” and “they deserve the emperor’s mercy”, but what else would react like that? He looked along the line of charging heretics. He could almost see the look in their eyes. Fear, anger, sadness, he could see every emotion in every one of them. If they weren’t human, why did they act so much like them?
But Candorick didn’t have time to think about that right now. This was not a battle of morals. It was a battle of life or death, and he had to live. For his family, for his homeland, for the Imperium.
Bullets and lasgun fire flew by him. The heretics had hid in some of the craters, and had begun to fire at the trenches. Candorick ducked down. A Whiteshield beside him didn’t duck down fast enough, and a bullet had gone straight into his head. He fell to the ground, dying instantly. He looked at the other Whiteshields. They were scared, and you they had begun to tremble at the thought of death. Candorick peaked his gun above the trench, and fired his lasgun at one of the heretics that had peaked from cover, hitting him right in the eye, sending him falling back onto the land. Merok was still firing the Lascannon from the relative safety of the sandbags surrounding him, and many heretics had fallen to his lascannon fire.
The kid who had been helping Merok load charge packs into the cannon suddenly got his foot stuck in the mud below the cannon and fell backwards, leaving him out in the open. A heretic fired a single shot at the now not in cover soldier, causing his head to explode into tiny pieces of gore. Merok got down, crouching firmly below the sandbags, as to get closer into cover. He waved his hands at Candorick.
“GET OVER HERE I NEED YOU MANNING THE CANNON!” Merok yelled over the sounds of bullets firing and other screaming from loyalist and heretic forces. “I KNOW YOU’VE THE BEST AIM HERE, AND I AM THE ONLY ONE LEFT HE KNOWS HOW TO LOAD THIS THING, JUST GET OVER HERE!” Merok gestured to Candorick to get onto the lascannon.
Candorick ran over the lascannon protected by a plethora of sandbags in the trench, which until recently, had been firing on the heretics.
“GET ON THE CANNON AND START FIRING AT THEM, I’LL LOAD THE CHARGE PACKS WHILE YOU FIRE AT THE HERETICS!”
Candorick took aim onto the cannon, aiming it at a large group of heretics hiding behind a burned out Leman Russ. He pulled the trigger, and a bright white ray of light sped out. It pierced right through the damaged armor and struck one of the heretics, sending him flying back. With Candorick pinning the heretics down, the other Whiteshields got out from cover and began to fire onto the heretics, killing even more. Eventually, the heretics' morale broke, and they began to retreat back away from the battle.
Why would they do that? Sending an army of heretics with little armored support into a fully prepared and mostly organized defense is suicide! Candorick pulled his recon binoculars and looked back out at the lines. The pouring rain made it hard to see, but eventually, he saw several massive black figures charging towards them. Candorick zoomed in. Massive men fully clad in twisted, black armor were charging at them.
Space Marines.
Candorick looked at the supply of charge packs for the lascannon. Only one remained.
That’s why they charged. They knew the soldiers here weren’t as well trained as those on other spots, and that they would use all their ammunition with reckless abandon at the approaching heretics. And now, they had no weapons strong enough to pierce through the space marines armor. They had this all planned from the beginning. Candorick pulled out his binoculars again and looked at the incoming space marines. Four of them were charging at the line. He had only two shots left, one still loaded in the cannon, and the other still waiting to be used. He could only hope that the other lascannons along the line had more ammo then he did, because if not, it would be a massacre.
Candorick looked at the other lascannon fortifications. None of them had any left besides one on the far edge of the defensive fortifications. He pulled out his binoculars again and looked at them.
“RUNNNN!” A voice screamed from behind him. A Whiteshield behind him holding binoculars turned around and began to sprint away. This sent panic throughout the entire line. Whiteshields began to sprint away from various parts as the commissars assigned to the regiment began to fire their lasguns into the retreating soldiers to no avail. The entire line was dissolving as the marines were getting closer and closer to the trenches. Candorick looked back at the lascannon that still had ammo left. The soldiers overseeing it had begun to run away.
“MEROK STAY HERE I AM GOING TO GET MORE CHARGE PACKS!” Candorick yelled over all the screams of fear to Merok.
Candorick knew to stand a chance they needed to use the lascannons. The only way he could save this battle is if he grabbed the excess ammo left at the far-away lascannon and distributed the others.
So he ran. He ran as fast as he could to the other edge of the line. He heard the sounds of the last few shots from the lascannons that still had ammo left, before the sound of the cannons firing stopped.
As the Space Marines got closer, more and more of the Whiteshields began to retreat. Candorick looked at the lascannon teams as he passed by their fortifications. Around half of them had left; the other half was looking everywhere for any ammunition they could find, digging around through the mud, looking to see if any ammo had sunk below, away from view. Candorick reached the abandoned lascannon.
He pulled out some rope from his pack and started to tie as many charge packs as he could to himself. 5 on his back, 2 on both sides of his body, another 5 on the front of his body to counterbalance.
Candorick tried to start running, but his knees buckled under the weight of the large cartridges. He was starting to hear the sounds of power armor as he struggled to stand.
“Come on, just stand…” Candorick put all of his power into standing up. A brave Whiteshield stood on top of the trenches and tried to fire onto the approaching marines, but before he could even aim through his scopes, a bolter round came rocketing through the air, turning the top half of the man into a splash of blood, covering Candorick. He had to stand, he had to. Candorick felt a surge of adrenaline as he was able to stand up. He started to run. He just needed to make it to the next lascannon to drop off the ammunition. The sound of the hydraulics of the marines power armor was getting closer. Heavy bolter sounds rang through the trenches as soldier after soldier was turned into piles of gore. His legs weakened as they pushed through mud and water and blood. He was so close, he could just taste it. He pulled himself onto the closest lascannon platform.
“Ammunition…” Candorick cried, collapsing to the ground, fainting from exhaustion.
He awoke to the screams of a soldier. Candorick looked up. One of the space marines held the screaming soldier up in the air. He grabbed the soldier with one hand around his head and the other along his legs. The space marine began to pull on the man. His legs began to stretch and contort as he neck skin stretched until he tore himself down the middle, the space marine, now holding two separate halves of a man, discarded his remains to the side. Candorick looked around. A dead space marine perched himself on top of the lascannon he had delivered the ammunition to. He appeared to have died from a point blank shot into his chest, vaporizing his armor and leaving a massive hole to the other side. Candorick dragged himself up to look into the no-man’s land. Another space marine laid dead out in the field, his head blown clean off by the lascannon. Candorick looked down the line. Another dead space marine laid in the trenches. He appeared to have fallen to hundreds of lasgun shots all over his body.
Only one space marine remained alive. Although he looked wounded. He too had taken many lasgun shots, and what appears to be a missed lascannon cracked open his helmet, leaving a clear view of his twisted, warped face.
“STAY AWAY!” a 13 year-old Whiteshield screamed. He appeared to have been spotted by the space marine. He stood behind a corner of the trench, firing his lasgun at the marine. The space marine slowly walked towards him. He intended to make every one of the soldiers that killed his brothers pay.
Candorick wouldn’t let them take another life. He wouldn’t. Candorick looked out into the sea of corpses and mud of no man’s land. A bright blue light glowed in the center of a crater. It wasn’t far. Candorick tried to stand up, but his legs failed him. He began to crawl towards the light, putting all of his might. One final time. He was almost there. The space marine approached the soldier, firing bolter rounds at the trench he was using for cover, piercing through the ground and wooden walls of the fortification, just barely missing him. Candorick reached the center of the crater. It was a plasma gun. Candorick picked it up with two hands, placing it on his chest, and aiming it at the space marine.
Candorick took a deep breath.
“One shot, One kill.”
Keating stood in front of the infirmary.
Candorick had not woken up in two days.
Bogra stood right next to him.
“Is boss gonna be ok?”
Keating turned to Bogra.
“I don’t know."

Toxic Rats: Geoff, Scott, Trent, Sammy, Sierra
Mutant Maggots: Anne Maria, Katie, Molly, Scarlett, Dave, DJ
Episode 06: Runaway Model
"Previously, on Total Drama Revenge of the Island!" Chris opened over a stock shot of Wawanakwa, the capstone theme starting up in the background. "The campers got deep," the recap montage opened with Sierra and Molly sinking to the lake bed in their antique diving suits, the former quickly getting held back by Fang, "in an underwater scavenger hunt."
"Sierra quickly got under her team's skin as soon as she came back," Sammy was shown upset with Sierra for taking a picture of her, "and Anne Maria and Geoff began to develop feelings for each other," the two were shown having a conversation with each other in the morning.
"In the end, Leshawna was tossed for swiping everybody's stuff," Sammy was shown tossing out everyone's belongings from the bag, "even though it was really Scott. Sneaky," the host added over Scott admitting his role in the confessional.
"It's now Team Maggot versus Team Rat," the host said, the Maggots' logo appearing on-screen against a radiant golden background. The logo rotated around into the Rats' logo, and a five-way split-screen of the Rats' remaining members rose up from the background – Trent in the upper left against a brownish-red backdrop; Geoff in the upper right against dark blue; Sierra in the middle top against orange; Sammy in the bottom left against turquoise; and Scott in the bottom right against yellow. "Will the Rats man up before they're a man down? Let's hope not," Chris said as the scene cut to him standing at the end of the dock with Chef. "There's nothing more entertaining than a man down."
As if on cue, the wood under Chef started to creak and crack, breaking away and sending Chef plunging into the lake with a startled scream. Chris laughed. "More where that came from, right now, on Total! Drama! Revenge of the Island!"

The sun was already high in the sky as the episode opened, and a loon cried out in the distance as the camera panned down onto DJ and Dave looking rather distressed outside the communal bathroom. The normal guy knocked on the door and asked "Is it our turn next?"
"Keep your panties on!" Anne Maria called out as the camera cut to the inside of the bathroom. The mirror on the back wall was too cracked and smudged to use, the trash can was grimy, and the strip of fly paper hanging in the corner was in need of a change, but nevertheless, Molly, Anne Maria, Katie, and Scarlett were still gathered along the countertop – Scarlett was sitting on the far left, Molly was plucking her unibrows, Katie was happily filing her nails, and Anne Maria was spraying her hair.
"Anne Maria?" Molly said. "Could I borrow some lipstick from you? I forgot it back at the cabin."
"You can help yourself, but don't go touching my hair spray," Anne Maria answered. She finished spraying her hair, and flicked it to show how bulletproof it was as it briefly shined. "Now that is how you do hair!"
"I prefer having a natural appearance," Scarlett clarified. "I'm mostly just here to wash my face and brush my teeth."
They later saw that Katie had pulled out a bag containing a makeup kit.
"What's that bag for?" Molly asked the influencer while brushing her hair.
"This is my portable makeup kit," Katie said. "If I need to get myself ready in the morning, this'll do the job in five minutes max."
"Do you carry that around with you at all times?" Anne Maria looked at the bag.
"Only when I'm traveling to places," Katie answered as she put on her lipstick. "I've done a lot of makeup tutorials with this thing, and they've skyrocketed my channel up to one million views."
"That's interesting to hear," Scarlett rolled her eyes. "Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be taking my leave."
Katie watched Scarlett and Anne Maria go, and turned to Molly. "By the way, you can borrow my lipstick too if you want."
Confessional: Katie
"Chris still has a hold of my tablet," Katie confessed. "I'm sure my subscribers are wondering why I'm inactive, but some of them will probably understand that I'm competing on a TV show."
Confessional: Molly
"Katie's been a lot more helpful to us with her device taken away, and now she wants to help me with fashion," Molly explained. "If that means she's not mad at me anymore, I'll take what I can get."
Confessional Ends
The scene flashed to the girls' side of the Rat cabin as Sammy said "I can't believe what happened last episode." The shot cut inside to show her sitting in her bunk bed. "Not only did people's belongings get taken, but Leshawna was pinned for it."
Sierra was using her phone until she heard Sammy. "What makes you so sure it wasn't Leshawna if the bag was under her bed?" the blogger emphasized.
"Someone else could've slipped it under there, and Leshawna's too respectful to touch our things!" Sammy enforced.
"I'll have to think about that more," Sierra said. "You know, this is the most I've ever heard you say."
"What do you mean?" Sammy asked.
"You're mostly silent, and also nervous most of the time," Sierra claimed.
"I just prefer keeping to myself," Sammy said. "I'm introverted."
"Have you managed to have any friends in your life?" Sierra wondered.
"I do, but I only have five friends," Sammy responded while holding her arm. "We make up the cheerleading team back home, and they really love and care about me, but they tend to forget about my own opinions."
"Have you ever told them it bothers you?" Sierra asked again.
"Not really. I don't want them to hate me," Sammy said sadly.
"I never had many friends, so I don't know how to help you there, but if you want to let them know something is wrong, just do it," Sierra shrugged. "I'm sure it can't hurt."
Confessional: Sammy
"Sierra may have a point. She's eccentric, but she definitely can be smart." Sammy admits. "My friends can drag me into activities I'm not interested in, although cheerleading is something I like to do."
Confessional Ends
The whining ring as the scene cut to a shot of one of the island's loudspeakers heralded a broadcast from Chris. "Iiiit's challenge time!" he began. "Campers~! Meet me on the other side of the island~!" he announced in an almost sing-song voice.
\
The footage immediately skipped ahead to the two teams already nearly assembled on two sets of low bleachers in a clearing lined with a handful of stage and spotlights. The five Rats were seated on the stands to the right of the camera, while DJ was just now filing in with his teammates on the left.
"Yo Katie," DJ greeted the girl. "Your hair is looking fantastic today.
"It's all thanks to this makeup kit," Katie showed her bag as DJ took his seat next to her. "It's really helpful for your looks."
The perspective inverted to reveal that the two teams had gathered before a large stage and runway, complete with a short catwalk and a large curtained-off backstage area. Chef was already waiting in the pink dress he'd worn to ceremonies back in season two, and Chris shortly joined him by way of descending from above with his jetpack. The host was wearing a sharp gray suit and fashionable glasses with tinted lens, but more noticeable were the changes to his hair – it was now pure white and long enough for him to sport a short ponytail.
Chef walked up as he landed and took the jetpack of his back, then walked away as Chris spread his arms and smiled. "Welcome to your challenge," he opened. "The Weird and Wild Fashion Spectacular!" He took a paper fan out of his breast pocket and waved it a bit as he spread his arms even wider.
"We're doing a fashion challenge? Awesome!" Molly cheered.
"Fashion? Now you're talkin'!" Anne Maria sprayed her hair about while complimenting Chris.
"You won't be walking the catwalk," Chris started to fan himself, "no-no-no-no. No amount of fashion can help you people."
"You don't say?" Dave mumbled to himself.
"Here's how it's gonna work," Chris continued. "Each team gets a wardrobe of clothes," the camera cut to a dresser, clothes rack, and several pieces of luggage on the side of the stage, "a make-up kit, and ten minutes to dress and make up a model." Chef held up an hourglass and glared mutely at the camera. "Which, you'll send down the runway," the shot zoomed in on the host's fan as he walked his fingers across it, "to be judged by myself, Chef, and today's Total Drama classic competitor, Lindsay!"
One of the suitcases on the side of the stage popped open, revealing the former contestant. "Yay! Don't you just love my new, special fashion boots?" Lindsay asked the campers, raising a leg to show off blue boots different from her regular brown ones.
"Wait, we get to dress an actual model!" Trent got excited.
"Uh-huh," Chris said, scraping some white powder off his shoulder with his fan. "Right after you catch one."
"Catch a model?" Geoff wondered. "Why would one even come to this island?"
"Did I say human models?" Chris corrected, fanning himself again as he walked across the stage. "Don't think so! No, your models are in there!" He thrust his finger off to the right, forcing Lindsay to duck under his arm. The camera quick-panned to the woods just as an earth-shattering roar shook the area.
"They're wild! They're mutated!" Chris told the campers, the camera moving behind his back. "And like me, they despise teenagers." The five Rats were shown looking shocked and concerned.
"Okay fashionistas," the host said in a campy accent, "go!" He blew his airhorn again, and the campers ran off.
\
The footage flashed ahead to a trail in the woods, Sierra and Geoff searching behind a rock and Sammy looking at a bush in the background while DJ walked by in the foreground. The camera panned to the right and stopped on Anne Maria and Scarlett, who were warily looking upwards.
Something croaked above them and the shot cut to a small frog, seemingly normal aside from an eye stalk on the top of its head, sitting on a branch. With a grunt of effort, Molly pounced on it from the right, and smiled when she opened her hands and saw she'd caught it. Unfortunately for her, the mutant frog produced an odd noise and flash of light, blinking out of sight but quickly reappearing on top of the confused young woman's head. With another noise and flash of light it disappeared, this time bringing Molly with it, and they blinked back into existence in mid-air a few yards away. Molly screamed as she started to fall, and the mutant frog teleported away to presumed safety before its failed assailant landed with a crash on the forest floor.
\
In another part of the forest, Trent was looking around absentmindedly while approaching what appeared to be a gigantic turtle shell, a short and spiky tail poking out of one end. The boy tapped the tail with his foot, but gasped when the tail suddenly wrapped around his leg and pulled him inside the shell. The beast inside growled and stood up, its stout legs and turtle head popping out of the shell's holes...along with Trent. With another growl, the mutant punched him away, and he landed in a heap with a pained groan.
\
The camera cut next to what appeared to be an ordinary beaver sitting perfectly still just at the edge of a bush. Dave rose, grinning from another bush in the background, then pounced upon it. His jubilation quickly faded into confusion as the unmoving beaver was somehow lifted up by its tail, taking Dave with it.
The shot cut outward to reveal the beaver has no more than a lure of a large bipedal anglerfish-like monster, which promptly roared. Katie, who was standing nearby, promptly ran away, and was soon followed by Dave and the angler mutant.
\
Another flash moved the focus to a close-up of a slice of pepperoni pizza, lying on the ground in the middle of a loop of rope that led off to the left. "Pizza? What's this doing here?" Scott said, the camera zooming out to show him looking down at it. He looked up and tilted his head, and the shot cut over to none other than Fang not quite hidden behind a tree, an axe in one hand and the anchored rope of his snare trap in the other.
Scott knew what was going to happen, but decided to have a little fun. "Too bad there's pepperoni on it, otherwise I'd totally eat that," he said loud enough for the shark to hear as he walked off.
Fang palmed his face and walked over to the slice and started picking the toppings off of it. Meanwhile, Scott used his shark tooth to cut the rope of the snare.
The effect was instant. Fang was hoisted up in the air by his wrist, and Scott came over to where the pizza was. "Oh perfect! No pepperoni!!" He picked up the pizza and ate it as he left, the shark growling at him as he was hung up.
\
The scene cut abruptly to a massive mutant brawl between a massive two-headed rabbit, two spiny woolly beavers, and a hairless squirrel zapping them with its eye-lasers from a nearby branch. The camera panned left as a giant hermit crab scuttled up and snapped its claws, with Trent, Sammy, and Geoff watching from behind a bush in the background with wide eyes.
"So which one do we use?" Geoff asked.
"Uh, maybe we should find something that can't eat us," Sammy replied.
A whine signaled the loudspeaker turning on once again, and soon enough Chris's announcement rang through the air. "Five minutes, people!"
"Hey, Rats!" Sierra quickly followed, directing her teammates' attention to their right. "Why don't we use that rat?" he asked, the shot cutting to a close-up of a small rat happily chewing on a leaf atop a fallen log. A large hairless rat jumped onto the log, quickly stuffed the rat into its mouth, then chittered and looked around.
"It'd be easy to catch and dress. It just needs a little more domestication," Trent proudly said.
"That's a good plan," Scott supported with a grin.
"Stand back," Geoff told everybody and went towards the rat's direction. "I have an idea for the fashion style."
\
"Don't give up yet! There's gotta be something on this island we can catch!" Molly told her teammates, the Maggots now hunkering down behind a bush.
"How about that critter?" DJ looked over the bush, and the shot cut to none other than Sasquatchanakwa walking into a cave, oblivious to the teens watching him.
"How are we gonna get him out of that cave?" Dave asked.
Scarlett smirked. "I've conducted a plan, but I need a bag for this," she told her teammates.
\
The Maggots were back on the stage watching Scarlett seated near Katie's makeup bag. She folded a few clothes together, squirted it with glue, and shook the bag together.
"This is what I call a "Detonating Duffel Bag," Scarlett talked about her creation. "It can and will dress any target within its sixty foot blast radius! With a mix of glue and clothes it'll be unremarkably simple to just launch the bag at the animal."
Confessional: Anne Maria
"I like her way of thinking," Anne Maria told the camera, "even if I don't understand what she's saying half the time."
Confessional Ends
Katie picked up her bag and looked at what was inside. "Puffy sweater vests? Plaid skirts? High knee socks? It seems you just put together an outfit that resembles yourself, Scarlett."
"Katie has a point," Dave told the brainiac. "You clearly made the outfit something you yourself would like instead of what everyone would like."
Scarlett was annoyed. "So what else should we use instead?"
"How about we compare our fashion styles and see what we'll all agree on," Katie suggested.
"That can work," DJ nodded. "To our cabins!"
\
The scene immediately flashed away to the Rats where their own rat has been dressed by Geoff.
"This rat looks ready to party and have fun!" Geoff described his choice as the rat was wearing a black collared shirt, a brown cap, a black chain necklace, and gray sneakers.
The rat expressed its dislike of the party style by ripping the clothes into shreds.
"Seems the rat isn't a big fan of the choice of fashion," Scott said.
A sudden ringing got the team's attention, and Chris announced "Three minutes remaining!" over an unseen loudspeaker.
"If you guys don't mind, I'll take a crack at it," Sammy offered.
\
The scene cut back to the Maggot cabin, where the team were inside the girls' side of the cabin.
"So these are what we normally wear," Katie said as she presented a row of clothes on the bunk bed. From left-to-right, it showed clothes belonging to Scarlett, Anne Maria, DJ, Dave, Molly, and Katie.
"That's correct," Anne Maria agreed, "but why are our clothes all lined up?"
"You know how some teams normally can't agree on anything, right?" Katie started her conversation.
"You're right about that," Molly said.
"So what if instead of arguing, we just combine our fashion styles into one big burrito?" Katie said extravagantly.
"A fashion mesh? That's a weird way to go, but I don't want to argue right now," Dave told them.
"If I had my sewing kit, I'd whip up a line of clothing suited to fit our animal, but since we're running out of time, let's just try to stuff all our clothes into the bag," Molly suggested.
"I'll add some dye colors inside just to make our colors clash," Katie said.
"I'll assist as well, but let's make sure to actually fold our clothes," Dave emphasized.
"Agreed," Scarlett said. "We want to make our outfit mash look as clean and fresh as possible."
"Now that we have a plan, let's get right to it," Molly encouraged the team.
Confessional: Dave
"I don't like to give away my clothes, but once I realized that I only have to give two pairs, I went along with the plan," Dave admitted.
Confessional Ends
The scene flashed back to the Rats, the camera positioned close to Sammy's face but focused on her four teammates behind her. The camera zoomed out as they watched her tighten a piece of cloth over their rat model.
"That should be about it," Sammy said. "Me and my friends tend to design clothes during our sleepovers."
"It's not bad, Sammy," Geoff started to say.
"I think you did a wonderful job," Trent critiqued.
Another ringing got their attention, and they looked up towards an unseen loudspeaker as Chris announced "One minute!"
"It's good enough," Scott declared. "Let's get back to Chris."
\
The scene flashed back to the Maggots hiding behind a rock near Sasquatchanakwa's cave.
"This DDD is ready for action," DJ held up the bag.
"What does it stand for exactly?" Anne Maria asked him.
"Detonating Duffel Bag," DJ made it more clear before tossing the bag over to Katie. "Go long!"
Katie ran towards the cave with the bag in hand as the scene cut to the inside. Sasquatchanakwa was sitting in a wooden armchair, drinking a can of soda and watching some jaunty-themed show on an old television set when Katie's bag landed in his lap. With a curious grunt he looked at the bag.
That's when the explosion happened, and when it did, the yeti let out a frightening roar, scaring the Maggots.
"That doesn't sound good!" Katie panicked.
Confessional: Katie
"I don't know if running away from Sasquatchanakwa is worse than hurting him," Katie said. "I'm not the fastest runner, but I'm not going to die."
Confessional Ends
The scene cut to a spotlight as it turned on; then a couple stage lights turning on as well; then a mutant squirrel hopping up next to a book-reading bear which lowered its book to reveal its three eyes, both animals looking at something curiously; then the stage and catwalk, Chris front and center with Chef and Lindsay – the former in sort of rapper-ish outfit with a red tracksuit and hat, earphones, and gold chains – sitting at the judge's table.
"It's freaky forest fashion time!" the host announced. "Rat-istas," he turned and pointed his fan backstage, "show me somethin' fierce." The five Rats walked out on stage, Geoff, Trent, and Sierra on the left with Sammy and Scott on the right.
"Chef, drop that needle!" Chris commanded next, the shot cutting to a close-up of a record turntable as the needle was dropped onto the spinning disc and a trendy tune began to play. The camera zoomed out, and Chef gave the host and campers a thumbs-up.
"This small rodent is wearing a fresh, popstar fashion style like no one else's," Sierra began smoothly, motioning to the gap between her and Sammy as their model reluctantly scurried out on all fours but continued down the runway on its hind legs. It was wearing a pink wig and a purple dress with white stripes. The camera followed it as it walked along looking both nervous and awkward, Sierra continuing her piece all the while. "Her pink hair matches well with her diva attitude and her dress screams fame." She finished with a grimace.
"A bit typical and overly glamorous," Chris said as the rat reached the end of the catwalk. "I give it an 8.5," the host announced as he held up a placard with his score.
The Rats shouted cheers of victory.
Chef held up an 8.0.
Lindsay held up a 1.8 to the uproar of the Rats. She realized her mistake and flipped her placard upside down, showing an 8.1. "Oops."
"Okay," Chris said tersely, looking back towards the catwalk. "Show me what you've got, Maggots!" he called out, the trendy music resuming as the shot cut back to the stage, showing it utterly empty. The camera zoomed in and the music kept playing, but for several more seconds there was still no movement backstage. "...Maggots?" Chris called out again and finally Katie ran out screaming at the top of her lungs.
"As you can see, the yeti is wearing a mix of several different styles based upon us," Katie said as her team quickly ran out to join her.
All six looked towards the backstage curtain, and the furious sasquatch growled and chased after them. His outfit consisted of several different styles – white sneakers resembling Katie's, long white socks resembling Scarlett's, pants resembling Anne Maria's, a blue and yellow collared shirt resembling Dave's, glasses resembling Molly's, and a hat resembling DJ's.
"The outfit consists of a variety of garments applied forcefully to random parts of his body," Katie said, cringing in terror as her team's model quickly tossed Scarlett, Dave, and Molly away again while DJ and Anne Maria quickly got off the stage. The ape-man grabbed her after she finished.
The music stopped, and Sasquatchanakwa finally noticed the three judges just as the first one spoke up. "That thing is huge," Lindsay gasped at the sight of the model before her, "but the outfit had too many themes. Maybe stick to just one next time."
"I agree with Lindsay," Chris admitted, fanning himself again. "It hardly complements the Yeti's husky physique."
Confessional: Katie
"Going with Scarlett's first idea for the yeti would have been boring," Katie groaned in disappointment, "but at least the yeti probably wouldn't have gotten as mad right now."
Confessional Ends
Still holding Katie, Sasquatchanakwa saw what he was wearing. Angry at the 6-way outfit put on him, he threw Katie away, took off the hat and glasses, kicked off the shoes and socks, and ripped off the pants and shirt.
"Chris is right. The team are too different-" Lindsay tried to say, but was cut off when the yeti suddenly reached forward and grabbed her by the head, yanking her out of her seat. The shot zoomed out as an engine whirred to life, revealing that Sasquatchanakwa had also commandeered Chris's jetpack. With the captive dumb princess in his arms, he took off into the air.
"Hey, he took my jetpack!" Chris quickly protested. The shot cut back to the ape-man and dumb blonde as Lindsay screamed, and Saquatchanakwa flew off to the foggy and ominous crags of Boney Island.
"Uh-huh...," Chris said blankly, still fanning himself. "Will Lindsay survive?" he asked the camera, lifting up his shades. "And am I legally liable if she doesn't? Find out, after the break."
