2023.06.03 14:25 Parey_ Theorycrafting : One culture run with a new world culture ?
I had a very stupid idea : for pride month, I wanted to do a Ge one culture. (get it ? Ge, gay... Yeah)
I know that it's Tapuia's primary culture, but I'm not sure if the colonizers culture convert these days. Here is what I had in mind :
- start as Oirat
- do the standard moves, like the bank of China, expansion in all directions, etc. Maybe bird for good starting Merc generals with a few siege pips ?
- convert to Catholic and make everyone in the HRE a tributary to get elected emperor, then lambda revoking
- use the same method that lambda used for his WC speedruns, where he would do a total war, then conquer thousands of OE, raze everything, add everything to HRE, release as vassal, but without things like truce breaks
- move my capital to the new world, conquer Tapuia and switch culture
- get religious ideas and force convert all of my HRE vassals (I guess the best religion to do it is Catholic, but not certain)
- once I have a "stable" WC, form the HRE. Ideally before 1600.
I'm not certain as to how many bonuses I need to stack up for this. I will obviously get +40% from influence and religious + the policy, and then is it enough that razing will both get me Diplo points and reduce dev ? I have not found many national idea sets that add a culture conversion cost reduction, at least not with formables or reformables. From what I've understood, you also get bonuses from adjacent provinces already having the culture you desire, so it might be more useful to do the conversions by layers, where you first convert a province, then all of its neighbors, then their neighbors, etc, but not sure about that.
I would gladly take any of your inputs.

2023.06.03 14:23 Jas_99 Secure Trust Bank easy access 3.85%... opinions?
As the title says secure trust bank now offering an easy access account at 3.85%, however need to have at least £1000 in the account and minimum deposits of £1000 each time from a nominated account.
Does anyone know much about them I've never personally heard of them but from their website they're fscs protected?
I personally don't use Chip as although their interest rates are amazing it's the open banking that puts me off, but of course, that's my own opinion on that.
Just wondering if there's anything I might've missed about secure trust bank or any caveats?

2023.06.03 14:21 DenCooper89 What's the difference between fiat and cryptocurrencies?
Fiat currency and cryptocurrencies are two distinct forms of currency with fundamental differences:
- Centralization: Fiat currencies are issued and regulated by central banks and governments, such as the US dollar or Euro. Central authorities have control over the supply and value of fiat currencies. In contrast, cryptocurrencies are decentralized and operate on a technology called blockchain. They are not controlled by any central authority, but rather by a network of computers and participants.
- Physical vs. Digital: Fiat currencies exist in physical form as banknotes and coins, making them tangible and widely accepted for transactions. Cryptocurrencies, on the other hand, exist only in digital form. They are stored in digital wallets and primarily used for online transactions, although some cryptocurrencies have physical representations in the form of hardware wallets or tokens.
- Legal Status: Fiat currencies are generally considered legal tender, meaning they must be accepted as a form of payment within a country's jurisdiction. Cryptocurrencies, however, do not have legal tender status in most countries and their acceptance for transactions varies. Some countries have embraced cryptocurrencies and established regulations, while others have imposed restrictions or outright bans.
- Transaction Transparency: Fiat currency transactions typically occur through centralized financial institutions, such as banks, which can track and verify transactions. Cryptocurrency transactions, on the other hand, are recorded on a public ledger called the blockchain, allowing for transparent and traceable transactions. However, while the transactions are transparent, the identities of the parties involved can be pseudonymous, providing a degree of privacy.
- Monetary Policy: Central banks can influence fiat currencies through monetary policies such as interest rates and money supply adjustments. Cryptocurrencies, being decentralized, are not subject to traditional monetary policies. Instead, their value is influenced by market supply and demand dynamics.
- Cross-Border Transactions: Cryptocurrencies facilitate fast and borderless transactions, as they are not bound by geographical limitations or traditional banking systems. Fiat currencies, although capable of cross-border transactions, often involve intermediaries and may encounter delays and fees.
It's important to note that the value and volatility of cryptocurrencies can be significantly different from fiat currencies. While fiat currencies are generally more stable, cryptocurrencies can experience substantial price fluctuations. Understanding these differences is crucial for individuals seeking to engage with either fiat or cryptocurrencies for financial transactions or investments.

2023.06.03 14:14 TopPomegranate4432 Penfold – free £25 contribution when you deposit or transfer £25 pension
Penfold is an award-winning low-cost pension provider that is offering a free £25 bonus pension contribution when you 1) set up a pension and deposit £25 OR 2) transfer in a pension held elsewhere.
The £25 free bonus is made up of £20 directly from Penfold and the remaining £5 from HMRC.
How to get your free £25 pension contribution with Penfold: - Sign up to Penfold via my referral link here
- Click on Personal Pension, then complete sign-up: choose your plan and risk level – you can change the plan at any time from your account dashboard (I personally went for the Standard plan and chose Risk Level 4 as I’m in it for the long-term, but you can choose Risk Level 1 for the lowest possible risk if you’d like a more conservative approach)
- Make a one-off payment via bank transfer (I paid £26, just to be on the safe side) or set up a Direct Debit (you can always cancel it when your bonus lands) or transfer across an existing pension (free to transfer over).
- Your bonus will be added to your pension within 7 working days
As mentioned, I'll be keeping this pension for the long-term so you can rest assured that we'll both get our bonuses whatever the timeframe :)
That's it, enjoy - and thank you if you use my link!
NOTE - Penfold's annual fees are: 0.75% for savings up to £100k (about £0.19 per year if you just have £25 in the pension) and 0.4% on any amount over £100k.

2023.06.03 14:14 bvandepol Stop calling it hacks please
The last 10 posts I've read contain comments that Twitter accounts and wallets have been 'hacked'.
Dear people, these are not hacks!
There is a very big difference between a hack and being compromised. Another word for 'compromised,' in my opinion, is 'careless' or, in a less subtle way, simply stupid.
A hack is the (partial or complete) acquisition of a complete website, database, service, or platform by exploiting technical vulnerabilities in a system or security.
A 'hacked' account or wallet does not exist, at least not in the context in which many people use the word hack.
In 99% of cases, it is simply user stupidity.
- Using a easily guessable password
- Sharing your password with others
- Writing down your password
- Using the same password everywhere
- Voluntarily giving away your password (scam)
- Not using MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) MOST IMPORTANT ONE
These are all examples of what exactly is not a hack, but rather carelessness.
If you lose your wallet, including your bank card and PIN, do you call it a bank robbery?
No, everyone would tell you it's your own fault and that you should have been more careful with your belongings.
And that's exactly what it is, regardless of how unpleasant the situation may be.
If your bank is robbed and you can no longer access your money, you are insured up to a certain amount for your deposits.
Big difference.
Twitter as a whole can be hacked, there is no doubt about that, but an individual account simply cannot.
What I want to achieve with this post, first and foremost, is that the word hack should be used in the correct context. It is a
very powerful term that can cause a lot of confusion and unrest if used incorrectly. Preferably, use the word 'compromised.'
Secondly, I want to say: be careful with your credentials and don't blame others if you lose them. You have not been hacked. You were careless and negligent.
Last, but not least: Stay safe!

2023.06.03 14:13 sinchan19 Fake managers, directors and vps in data science. These rates have spoiled everything.
Data science is a new field, but most people above manager level positions claim they have 15-20 years of experience. Unless they have worked at places like Google, yahoo, banks, insurance companies, the rest of them are fake. Actually most of them are fake people who have no knowledge about data science. Most of them have switched to data science after doing some useless certifications and due to their networks (bootlicking). Most of them have either worked on basic statistics or are from software engineer and shout ai ml for every trivial problem in current times. The only way they can survive is by keeping the wheel moving. So they push their teams to work on garbage projects to showcase their importance to higher management. In the end most of those projects fail, data scientists are blamed and managers/directors/vps get the credit for new initiatives. This leads to higher dissatisfaction and attrition among data scientists and in turn loss of trust from management in data science. These middle men are responsible for chaos in the whole industry.

2023.06.03 14:10 kemmeta US National Currency charter numbers?
In perusing eBay I've found The American National Bank of Austin, whose charter number is 4322, and The First National Bank of Austin, charter # 4308. I'm curious what other charter numbers exist for Austin, TX banks or other small TX towns, but if there's such a list, it's whereabouts are unknown to me.

2023.06.03 14:09 Dallal_no1 I filed a lost item report for my phone, and found the phone on my own. Do I need to go back to the police station and tell them I have found it.
So I lost the phone in an auto in Noida while going to a bank, when I came out I realised that I didn't have it. So I went and filed a lost article report in the nearest thana, they did it via 'UP COP' app on my phone. The report was registered, I knew nothing will happen but maybe I can claim something so I did it. After that I tracked my phone via "find my phone" went to the auto drivers house and took it from him, didn't say anything to him just asked for the phone back and got out.

I am just curious whether ordinary Russian’s oversea assets are frozen or seized. I mean non political affiliated people, and business people that are not too successful. Asset less than 1000000$? Are your oversea bank account frozen or seized?
I heard in Chinese website that all Russian’s oversea property are seized and waiting to be determined.

2023.06.03 14:08 Competitive-Damage84 10% payment to parents
| Has anyone ever played pokemon silver? If you havent, a small feature included was sending 10% of your earned cash back home. However this is banked, and can be reclaimed by visiting home. Im of an optimistic notion that this might be the case here. Mainly because after comparing it to "Starter home" text, the phrasing could very well imply it. If this 10% deduction was something owed, then the starter home trait would say something like "you own a house, but x% of your earnings are automatically deducted and sent to galbank due to a 50k mortgage." Given that a mortgage implies needing to meet payments on time, as opposed to them taking it when available, suggests the debt/obligation is different to that of your parents of course. Which would make sense as a missed payment could lead to being hunted by bounty hunters if its something owed. Could be a somewhat intricate finance system, well more intricate than im used to seeing in games (im not good with finance at all irl) submitted by Competitive-Damage84 to Starfield [link] [comments] |
2023.06.03 14:05 Plane_Inevitable8387 Skilled worker visa maintenance funds
Hello, I am currently in the UK as a T4 student visa for less than a year, and I am applying for a skilled worker visa under health and care visa within the country. The sponsor does not show proof of maintenance, and unfortunately I missed that and currently I need to show this to the home office.
I am really worried as I do not have the funds for 28 days, as my funds are controlled by my parents and my allowance is only enough per month. I plan to show my parents bank statement which have enough funds for the period along a signed letter to say that they would support me before I get my first paycheck.
I’m really blaming myself for not noticing the maintenance funds requirement and I appreciate any advice given.
