2023.06.06 18:40 Flying_Saucer_Attack R/Mealprep Will Be Joining The Subreddit Blackout June 12th-14th
This subreddit will be joining in on the June 12th-14th protest of Reddit's API changes that will essentially kill all 3rd party Reddit apps.
What's going on? A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
What's the plan? On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.

2023.06.06 18:15 Shota_inRealLife Is there a non awkward way to say this? Should I just not say it at all?
Okay so, I have some friends, and at one point I was going to lunch with them everyday, but I kinda stopped suddenly because the social interaction involved with that was making me REALLY nervous, And I started kinda showing up again, sometimes And obviously they've been doing friendgroup stuff without me, duh, I just want them to know that it's not like I'm not interested in hanging out with them, I just get overwhelmed sometimes,
So I mainly just wanted to apologize to them for being in and out of their lunchtimes without explanation, and for not really making an effort to hang out with them more,
But I'm wondering if I apologize, if that would make things awkward ? They seem ok with it, they haven't said anything about my absences, they don't seem to be all that attached to me, so maybe I can get away with not saying anything about it? Id kinda hate to admit that I find social interactions overwhelming sometimes, I want to seem cool ok, I don't want them to think I CARE more than they do, But at the same time I feel bad for not really hanging out with them, because they've planned an after graduation party without telling me about it at all, And I wonder if theyve stopped seeing me as their friend, and moreso as just someone who stops by every once in a while. Its not like I'm upset I wasn't invited, I can see why they wouldn't invite me,
But this event has just has shown me that I haven't been a good friend to them.
What should I do? Should I say sorry or should I just, I don't know. Should I, instead of apologizing, just remain wordless, and then prove to them over time, with my actions, that I do want to be their friend? Maybe apologizing would be awkward. I don't plan to really hang out with them until after my exams... But by then school is pretty much over and since they probably don't think I like them that much, they probably won't want to hang out with me or even maintain contact as we move to university.
Maybe I should just keep doing what I've been doing, swinging by whenever I feel like it, and just forget them and make new friends in university. I don't know. Maybe I'm making a mountain out of a molehill.
I mean I asked them if they were going to have a grad party today, which is the day before the party is actually happening Which is late as fuck, but they gave me the address and information.
Maybe I can make things right by just, being there with them more from now on ? It feels like too little too late. They don't seem bothered but y'know, I'm bothered by my lack of presence with these people I consider my friends.

2023.06.06 18:08 ACleverForgery As a player, how talk to my DM about dissatisfaction with a world that is too forgiving?
A little vent about my most recent game.
My DM seems to be going easy on us, and I don’t know how to tell him that for me, it makes the world feel more real and role play/mechanics more satisfying when NPCs aren’t always forgiving and obliging.
Our party was outside of town when we got word that our barbarian’s NPC love interest had been kidnapped and taken to a noble’s manor in a violent altercation that left bystanders severely wounded. We hurried back to town, and broke into the manor to rescue her. Most of us wanted it to be a stealth mission. I came in the front door as a scout, lookout and distraction (bard asking about auditioning for an upcoming festival, and then asking to use the washroom upstairs), but the barbarian couldn’t wait - she killed two guards and left the lady of the house tied up and unconscious. The fairy ranger cast Charm Person on the nobleman, and the druid panicked and summoned a swarm that caused lots of chaos and property destruction.
Turns out it had all been a misunderstanding - the NPC had been safe the whole time! The man who kidnapped her isn’t evil, he’s basically a sad self-sacrificing puppy who only wants to have a scary reputation so that he doesn’t actually have to hurt anyone!
The NPC and her “kidnapper” emerged from another room, saw the chaos and convinced the nobleman (who had broken out of the charm and was furious at being mind-controlled) to let us go. So ultimately some NPCs saved us from other NPCs/the consequences of our actions. It certainly was a relief not to have the nobleman call down a squadron of guards on us, sure, and it was the end of the session anyway. I wasn’t bothered yet.
In the morning, then nobleman sent us an invitation to meet with him. We already had plans for the day, and when we asked to delay the meeting, we were told “sure, tomorrow is fine too”. Maybe the DM wanted to give us some breathing room after the chaos? It felt like meeting with the nobleman was important to get around to, but not urgent at all.
The NEXT day (so, a good 36 hours after invading the mansion), we arrived for brunch with the nobleman. I prepared an eloquent apology before the session, using my in-character knowledge of his pride and sense of duty to the town, his violent tendencies (we had found a prisoner in a closet, whipped within an inch of his life), the importance of maintaining the “all is well” facade, etc. As the bard and party Face, I am already pretty charismatic, but I cast Enhance Ability on myself to be extra persuasive.
The DM never asked for a single persuasion roll.
And it wasn’t like I got “wow, that was great, you don’t even have to roll for that” kind of feedback. The nobleman didn’t act proud or violent or delusional like we’d been told he was by every other NPC in town. He seemed like an exhausted parent, like as long as we weren’t outright rude to him and acknowledged that what we did was wrong, he would have let us off the hook. He even mentioned he knew we had met with a rival noble house after the altercation in his home, but that didn’t seem to bother him. He barely seemed angry and made no real demands of us - letting us choose between community service and time in the stocks as punishment. And when we said we had been planning to leave town to help some local merchants, he said, “sure, that counts as community service. “
After the session, it took me a few days to realize why I felt kind of deflated after that session. I felt superfluous.
I don’t know if this is anything worth bringing up to the DM, and if so, how I should do it.
He knows I’ve run this adventure as a DM before, and I want to be clear that this has nothing to do with “your version of the characters is wrong”.
How do I say “when NPCs save us, or don’t make us earn our victories, it can feel like the work I’ve put into my character is wasted” and “do the nicer-than-expected versions of all these NPCs mean something in-game? Is this a sign that this noble is actually a flawed yet ultimately good and trustworthy guy? Or do you as a DM just not like role playing bad people but our characters should still be afraid of them? Informed evil, vs visibly evil?”
K this is long, thanks for getting this far. Thoughts welcome, just be nice to me, please.

Memory transcription subject: Tassak, Arxur Paleontologist
Date [standardized human time]: July 15, 2165
I nervously clicked my claws against the wooden table as I waited for the rest of the invitees to arrive. The UN had brought me to the senate building privately so as to not cause panic, and I was grateful. I only hoped that the people whom I was going to be working with wouldn’t freak out at my appearance.
The war against the Federation and the subjugation of the Arxur by the Dominion had ended shortly after my birth, but the effects of the past few centuries of conflict could not be eliminated in such a short amount of time. Societal ideals have to be rewritten over long stretches of time by strong people with strong will, and there simply hasn’t been enough time to do so. As a result, though it has been many years since the last battle against the Arxur, it was still uncommon to see any outside of the space they already inhabited, and still VERY common to see hatred and fear of us among Fed species. It has always been my ultimate goal to show those who fear us just how similar we are, that is why I sacrificed everything to attend the Meiers Institute of Knowledge.
On the Arxur’s side of the societal coin, it was social suicide to interact with “prey” species willingly. [Oh how I hate that word.] Most of the elders of our society could not get over their hatred of the Federation species, despite the fact that they were under just as much, if not MORE subjugation than we were. When I made the decision to go and learn at MIK, I was shunned from all social groups at home. Not that there even were many, most Arxur rarely interacted with each other if they could help it.
MIK was a chance for me to experience new ideas and try new things. For once, I wasn’t discriminated against because I had front-facing eyes and scary teeth, and I learned just how much I loved socializing with like-minded people. I was finally allowed to let my love for knowledge flourish in a way that other Arxur would never have condoned. I graduated some time later with several degrees and a doctorate in paleontology.
Though to some, the idea of digging up bones and putting them together like a puzzle seemed macabre, it felt liberating to me. I felt like I truly understood the value of life and death. I could look at the cracked tooth of an ancient ancestor of the Arxur or the fossilized chitin of one of the Tilfish’s predecessors and identify a pattern, showing the divergent evolution they underwent to achieve their current form. I could see the similarities all life inherently had. Sometimes the similarities between us were shocking, and occasionally it was kind-of scary, but that only made me more passionate about my work.
I assume that is why the UN decided to send me a job offer 3 weeks ago. When I received it I was ECSTATIC at the prospect. The UN government sending ME, a small-time nobody Arxur paleontologist, an invitation to work with them? If I could tell my past self what I would be up to now, I would almost certainly scoff at myself. Even as I boarded my UN funded private ship to Aafa I was subconsciously wondering if it was some elaborate prank. My thoughts were interrupted as I heard footsteps from the other side of the door. This is it, I’m about to meet my partners, please don’t run away screaming.
A human, a venlil, and a gojid stood in the doorway staring at me. The gojid seemed slightly fearful but hid it well, the human and venlil however just seemed confused. [Okay, okay, they didn’t scream at me. That’s a good start.] The three, along with their escort, settled into chairs at the table I sat at, looking at me expectantly. I straightened my posture and prepared myself mentally to greet them. “H-hi, my name is Tassak. Are you the other three invitees?” The human sitting across from me spoke. “Yes. I hope I don’t offend by saying this but I wasn’t expecting an Arxur invitee.” He raised an eyebrow as he ended his sentence. He quickly started talking again, probably to try and explain his reasoning. “Sorry, I-I mean, don’t the Arxur frown upon interacting with “prey” species?” The venlil and gojid looked at me as I thought of a response. “Yes, they do. I had to cut a lot of ties to get into this profession. Let’s get introductions out of the way please.” “Alright, my name is James. I’m 31 years old. I was born on Earth and now live on Venlil prime. I went to MIK to become a historian. My diet is mainly coffee but occasionally I drink coffee as a treat.” The man smiled as he awaited our amusement, but it never came. James’ smirk faded and he coughed into his hand before continuing. “I was invited along with my friend Lemva, she’s the venlil next to me, and Cayek, he’s the gojid to your right.”
I exhaled quietly, James seemed friendly enough. “My name is Tassak, as I said before. I’m 29. I got a doctorate in paleontology at the Meiers Institute of Knowledge, along with some other degrees. I hail from Wriss I currently live on Earth.” As I finished my statement, I couldn’t help but criticize the way I spoke. [Why did I talk so rigidly, ughhh! My first impressions are going terribly!] James spoke up. “Wait, did we all come from MIK? Weird coincidence huh?” I could tell he was trying to ease the tension in the room. “I thought I would’ve noticed a giant lizard guy walking around campus.” Wait, did he call me a guy? “Uh, I’m a girl, actually.” I spoke timidly. The man before me became as red as a fresh cut of steak. His embarrassment was plainly visible, which I found amusing, it lessened my anxiety slightly.
The venlil that James had referred to as Lemva spoke up, changing the subject. “Weelll… Anyhow, my name is Lemva as James told you. I’m 30 years old. I’m an archaeologist and got my doctorate from MIK. My current home is on Earth but I’ve lived a little bit of everywhere. Me and James have been friends for a long time, we met in the institute’s history club.” Everyone focused their attention onto Cayek as Lemva’s introduction concluded. It took several seconds for him to compose himself. I could tell that my presence was uncomfortable for him, and him being seated closest to me of the three people probably exacerbated that feeling. I didn’t blame him for his fear, but it still stung a little. He gulped and started talking.
“My name is Cayek. I’m a 41 year old linguist who also went to MIK for my doctorate. I was born on the Cradle, was taken in at a young age by the UN after it got bombed, and was offered a home in one of the cities constructed by the Cradle Re-colonization Project, where I now live.” The man stopped talking and I thought he was done, but he straightened his posture and started speaking again. “I just want to get this out of the way before it causes trouble later down the line.” He spoke with a sigh. “I was born in a… you could call it a “hostile” household. My family raised me during a time when hate against… “people who were different” was acceptable. My upbringing cemented a couple habits into me that I’ve been trying to chip away at, so to speak, ever since I saw the sheer good that mankind is capable of. I’ve been attempting to be more open to new ideas ever since. Hell, I even took the anti-cure and tried some-” He gulped. “-non-herbivore cuisine, to get some perspective. So if I accidentally say or do something offensive to you please tell me, I truly want to leave that part of me behind.” As he ended his speech, he slouched and let out a breath he had been holding in. I was surprised by his honesty.
James and Lemva both processed the information. I responded first. “Thank you. You have no idea how much anxiety dropped off my shoulders just now. I was worried you’d all run away at first sight of me or treat me like some bloodthirsty beast. I very much appreciate the effort you’re putting into reforming.” James spoke after me. “I appreciate it too. After all these riots it’s such a breath of fresh air to meet a person that won’t cry if I look at them.” In the past 10 minutes, this man had crammed in jokes at any time he could. I think I’m gonna like him. I could tell that the joke came from a place of sadness though, I could see the sadness in his eyes.
James started to look impatient, he tapped his fingers on the table in a rhythmic pattern while he checked his holopad for the time. “I thought we were here for a job offer. How long is this gon-” The sound of the heavy wooden door opening filled the room, as a small group of well-dressed men and women filed in through the doorway. As my eyes scanned over each person who entered, my heart skipped a beat and I jolted upward to attempt a human salute as I spotted President Zhao at the tail-end of the group. [What the fuck? Why is he meeting with us?] The other three followed my gaze and stood to salute as well. In his surprise, James nearly fell over. My three partners were as equally dumbstruck as I by the sudden appearance of the head of the government.
President Zhao took on a small amused smirk as he witnessed James straighten himself out. “At ease. You may take a seat.” We did as he commanded. “Welcome to the Capitol. It’s good to see that you all accepted your invitations. I can see from your confused expressions that you probably want some answers, so let’s get started.” As Zhao took a seat at the head of the table, one of the men who had accompanied him lifted a briefcase from his side and placed it delicately on the table. The man inputted a code into a small keypad and the briefcase unlocked with a click. Inside was a holo-projector, which the man placed on the center of the table. “Before we begin, our four guests will need to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement, the information spoken of in this meeting must never leave this room.” Another of the officials, a small woman in a black dress, passed four holopads to us, which we promptly wrote our signatures into. The holopads were collected and Zhao spoke. “Excellent. You’re probably all curious about the reason we invited you specifically for this opportunity, why all the security measures and guards, why we’re trying to keep this under such tight wraps.” The holo-projector on the table switched on and briefly displayed the Coalition logo, before transitioning to a hologram of Talsk, the Farsul homeworld. “As you know, for hundreds of years the Federation had been keeping archives filled with classified knowledge and confiscated or outright stolen items. On the nineteenth of june, approximately four weeks ago, after extensive search efforts, we found the motherlode. The Federation had kept many archives but this one was special. It wasn’t a library, it was a tomb. Buried under several kilometers of rock and deep ocean, the Federation sealed away items and information that, if released, could possibly threaten their hold over the galaxy.”
The holo-projector transitioned to a diagram depicting the archive, there was no entrance-way and no exit, just kilometers of water and stone between it and the surface. The hologram zoomed in on the archive, showing a more detailed view of the gargantuan structure. It consisted of several levels, each with a number of chambers housing items or information. At the very bottom of the structure, one chamber stood out among the rest. 10 meter thick walls of an ultra-hard titanium alloy encased a small cell filled with toxic gas. Suspended in the middle of the chamber by hundreds of metal rods was a vacuum-sealed prism of diamond. Finally, inside the prism was a small metal cube along with a holopad.
I felt a chill down my spine as I studied the intricate carvings etched upon the surface of the artifact. I could tell that the carvings were of some language, but it did not match any that I could think of. “Within the records, this artifact was designated as Class-Hydrogen1. The Federation’s information classification system is far too complex to discuss in full, but in summary, the more important something is, the closer to 1 the atomic number of the element it is assigned will be. The classification is then proceeded by a 1 or 2, 1 signifies dangerous information and 2 signifies dangerous materials. For example, in this same archive we discovered an experimental and dangerous singularity generator with a classification of Fluorine2, which has an atomic number of 9.”
“To put into perspective how scary the idea of a Class-Hydrogen designation is, the second highest classification object on record is a self-powered anti-grav receptacle of strange matter. Strange matter will turn any other matter it touches into more strange matter, I shouldn’t have to explain why that is incredibly dangerous. The receptacle was classified as a Carbon2. There are 4 classifications between Hydrogen and Carbon and none of them are being used.” My blood ran cold as I listened. What power could this artifact possibly hold? The question in my mind was quickly replaced by another. Why are WE the ones being told this? Before the window of opportunity ended, I opened my mouth to speak.
“Permission to speak, sir?” Zhao looked at me and nodded. “I still have a question, and I’m sure my partners do too, but why us? Why did you choose to tell us this instead of someone more qualified?” “I’m glad you reminded me.” I heard the clacking of a keyboard as one of the men beside the President switched the holo-projector to a different tab. A close-up of the cube appeared, showing the four sides of the object.
The first side depicts a bipedal creature covered in spikes turning their back on two similar figures cloaked in blood and flames. The creature holds a defiant posture. Flames trail behind them, turning to embers, then to smoke, and then fading entirely.
The second side depicts a small fluffy figure being chased by a dark version of themselves across a variety of settings and locations.
The third side depicts a large being covered in scales bound in chains kneeling on an altar, their arms being stretched to two different sides. On one side a crowd of identical creatures and on the other side a crowd composed of different figures of varying shapes and sizes, both sides pointing weapons at the central figure.
The final scene depicts a man screaming in anger and sorrow pointing a dagger toward a small creature with bloodied hands. Tears stream down his face. A man and woman lie dead in the background.
A gojid, a venlil, an arxur, and a human.

Why does this matter to us and where do we stand? Speaking for myself as a long time reddit user, mod and developer, this is just the latest of a series of actions that have been slowly killing what used to make this place better and different from the others social media platforms. Our subreddit is very niche and although we are not the smallest we are also not the biggest compared to others.
However due to the nature of this subreddit we have for long benefited from a series of services and bots that use directly or indirectly the reddit api. And this is exactly one of the things that have made this place special and enjoyable to so many, for now we are in the "safe" and the main features of our dear -Firekeeper-, -Melina and others should not be affected, furthermore at best the future is uncertain, the Admins have said that our capabilities should still continue just as they are, but between they saying these things and they keeping their words well that's just for another day.
I hope you guys can understand and join us.
May the Sun shine for another day \`[T] /

Thank you for your patience in the matter, -Mod Team /SummonSign && /BeyondTheFog footnote:

2023.06.06 17:13 Ridicolousrat Wow ChatGPT helps with applications
Graduated undergrad with a philosophy and history degree last month and been struggling in the job market looking for a position while I make long term plans for long school. I felt confident after meeting with my schools career center that I had a strong resume and custom fit cover letters for the sort of positions I was looking for (administrative assistants for the most part).
I had an internship on my belt with demonstrated success in a lot of skills, a great transcript with relevant extracurricular, and even a fair bit of customer service experience in retail assisting customer service roles. Granted I'm a new grad but I thought it wouldn't be too bad finding a job.
I got demolished instantly during applications. Almost every place would reject me incredibly fast and I didn't really understand why. After doing some research I'm fairly sure I knew what was happening.
My resume wasn't making it past the dumb AI filter they use to screen candidates. Seriously if you don't mirror back exactly the skills for the position you're applying to with some metric they just filter you out. It's super particular with the language too! Even small differences like using the words client and customer differently is enough to throw the whole damn thing off.
After reading a bit more about the process I was kinda shocked how helpful ChatGPT was. I had always kinda ignored it as a student because I thought it was dumb as hell. Then I looked at the success statistics of people using it in resumes and I knew I was stupid not to use it.
It wasn't helpful without very specific instructions and role prompting but asking it to identify the three most important responsibilities for a position with relevant language, tailor my resume to specific postings, help me quantify impact (especially with that internship being my best experience), and just do general editing. Combined with a few slick templates designed to be eye catching and targeted phone calls with recruiters the ATS software has started letting me through!
I'm not posting this to repeat what everyone else has said but after trying it for a bit I'm really hopeful that this will make a huge difference. The last three weeks have been frankly depressing seeing a lot of near-immediate rejections from positions I felt qualified for and being concerned about my ability to find a half-decent wage. I'm really hopeful that now I can land a couple solid interviews and prepare extensively to land a job. Maybe it will work out after all.

2023.06.06 16:54 mehmagix What's worse than mold? Losing third party apps because of Reddit's API changes.
This subreddit will be joining in on the June 12th-14th protest of Reddit's API changes that will essentially kill all 3rd party Reddit apps. Read more below!
Kombucha is in the top 1% largest reddit communities. We have a voice (and lots of pellicles) and the mod team has decided that we will use that voice.
I am
Kombucha's most active mod and I exclusively moderate + contribute to this sub using Apollo, an iOS third party app. Apollo's moderation features are far better than the official reddit app's - losing Apollo would add a ton of friction to what is currently a pretty easy job (keep being awesome,
Kombucha).

2023.06.06 16:51 THROWRA_Hamburg My GF (28F) keeps Un-Inviting me (33M) to her Friends Weddings
We've been dating seriously for a few months, so I never expected to be invited to some of these weddings. There are about six of them this year. I am going to one that seems very tame (traditional). There are two that are extravagant (destination, long weekends, $$). One international and another is domestic that no one lives/ is from.
Early on, she said I should travel and meet her in the country after the wedding. Make a trip out of it. Didn't hesitate with a "Yes". After we were official, the couple told her I was invited. She told me but said she didn't think I should go. “It wasn't worth it” for me was her main reason... So, I said fine, but I’m still good meeting up after. Which she flipped on and said it would be a quick trip just for the wedding. Again, “wasn't worth it” for me. Over a month a half it would come up and I would reinforce my desire to go. She would say something new like, I don't know anyone, too much money, she might not even go anymore. Well, now I got an invite to MY best friend’s wedding and it's the day after. So, I do the right thing and tell her immediately that I can't go no matter what now. TBH I wanted to let it drag on a little to see her final decision knowing this new evidence would impact hers, but I didn't. I said I can't go to the wedding, and she said she wasn't going either but why can't I. I told her it was so and so’s wedding the next day. A week later she said she changed her mind and was going to the wedding now. That we me could meet up after (knowing I can’t).
The second wedding is domestic but still kind of a destination, she said to me in the car that so and so invited me to their wedding. I said that's great and blocked it off in the calendar. This was a couple months ago, so while the first one is being discussed, this one got forgotten. It is later on as well, so save the dates haven't been sent out.. When she told me she was ultimately going to the first one, I brought up this one. I said “while we're on the subject what's the dates for” wedding number 2. And she looked at me and said "Well, I mean... IF I get a plus one..." with half an eye roll almost to say how dare I assume. It's like she forgets she told me they invited me. So, I clammed up because it felt like I was about to get round two of 2 months of stress.
Last night she called me and said she just got off the phone with the bride and she doesn't think she's getting a plus one. I didn't engage because I’ve been very careful about what I say lately. She said how disappointed she was and how excited she was to make a vacation with me out of it. And I just kind of agreed and said how surprised I was given the hundreds of invites and endless funds that a good friend would have their SO’s invitation taken back. None the less I spelt on it.
Here is how I feel:
The one wedding I am going to is with all friends that are engaged, long term, or married. Even some of her family will be there. So, when I used the word “tame”, it’s because it won’t be a drunken, drug filled rave. I have my shit together and can handle the pressure of meeting family/friends for the first time. I feel like I am going to this wedding to show off the stable, well put together guy.
These other two weddings are a bit diff… Party favors will be common. Alcohol WILL be consumed heavily. There are a lot of “outgoing” single, open-minded people. She is a free spirit kind of girl and loves attention. I get the feeling she doesn’t want me at these so she can do her own thing whatever that is. There’s a saying, “you don’t bring sand to the beach.” I feel like I am the sand. I don’t know if she would cheat on me. I don’t think so and I don’t she has, but I do think that she feels like she would have more fun without me. I almost would rather her lie and tell me I never was invited. Ignorance is bliss kind of thing. It hurts to be categorized as one type when I am willing and able to turn up and want to as well.
I haven’t said anything, but I think I am going to suggest we don’t assume any conclusions. We plan for me to go to wedding number 2, and if she doesn’t get a plus one, whatever. It’s just one night alone in otherwise a great couple’s vacation. Thoughts?
TL:DR – My GF told me I was invited to two weddings and then has slowing dissuaded me from going or informed me of my un-invitation, and I trying not to think ulterior motives.

On June 12th,
many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy.
What can you do as a user?
- Complain. Message the mods of /reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on /reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
- Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join the coordinated mod effort at /ModCoord.
- Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
- Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible.

2023.06.06 16:08 MediumStomach1988 I feel silly praying about this.
I've been wresting rather to ask for prayer but the word does say we can pray about anything.
I was invited to a friend's birthday party but I don't feel exactly comfortable traveling to the area. It's in a very rural part of my state and I'm very nervous about possibly going this Saturday. I've prayed about it but now that it's this weekend..I'm unsure as what I should do. I don't want to let fear from the enemy hold me back from going and trusting God will be with me but God also gives us discernment and the part of the state is very rural and in a poc so it makes me nervous.
Again. I know this may seem like a silly thing to pray about but I'm trying to bring all my worries to The Lord.

However, as a writing sub we'd like to see user input on whether we should participate in the 48 hour blackout. Many of us are for it, but in the end we mod this sub for you. The poll will be posted below to determine how our userbase feels about this action, and will be up for three days. Your participation would be greatly appreciated.
