2021.10.04 22:10 goondling Debit card glitch
So I (26m) was at Lost Lands. A huge dubstep music festival in Ohio 2 weekends ago. I was at main stage when I asked my buddy if he wanted to go spend a ridiculous amount of money on a PBR beer with me. He agreed and we walked to the beer tent together.
When I ordered a beer the bartender asked to see my wristband to prove I was of age. I had a wristband from yesterday and I guess that wasn't good enough so I needed to get today's wristband. Luckily, the wristband guy had just been walking past me.
I handed the guy my ID and while he was checking it I turned and handed my debit card to the man selling beer who turned away to grab the beer. The guy gives me my wristband and the other comes back with my beer and says how much I owe. I told him I just gave him my card and his face showed stress instantly so he went around looking for it. He came back a couple times and said he was certain I did not give him my card. My friend that came with me said that he watched me give him my card.
After a couple minutes he came back and asked me to please look back in my wallet and pockets. The card was sitting in its spot in my wallet...
The dude got pissed and started mocking me and saying that I was a huge asshole. I apologized and said that I had no intention of being an asshole. I never even once raised my voice at the dude but I was firm with my stance that I had already given him my card. We grabbed our beers and had a kick ass rest of the weekend!
Disclaimer: it was a very intense weekend with a lot of booze and drugs, though this particular day I did not partake in any hallucinogens but a few bumps of blow throughout the day/evening definitely happened.

2021.09.11 01:19 AlfAlferson This Week in Indie Wrestling
9/3-9/9
Hello friends, I wanted to start doing something to talk about the independents and get some discussion going. I watch almost nothing but indie wrestling. I watch PPV’s for the tv companies, and maybe catch an episode here and there if there's something that interests me. But I love the independents and want to share this with you all. I want to give somewhat of a guide to upcoming shows, standout matches, and some wrestlers to look out for. I started my look into the indies in 2017 with Gamechanger Wrestling, so I will warn there will be a bit of bias towards that company, but I do enjoy all the indies. I won’t go over some of the ‘big’ matches and names too much, I want to kind of tap into the underbelly of the indies and give a spotlight to those lesser known, although nothing is off limits. Full disclosure, I do not watch every indie show, frankly there is too much out there to really watch for one person, but I will try and watch as much as I can and try and bring to you something to digest and maybe go check out for yourself.
First and foremost, please for the love of all that is good, subscribe to independentwrestling.tv. IWTV is the biggest gateway to indie wrestling. There is more than one person can reasonably consume. Frequent live shows, nearly every weekend has a show or two. If you don’t know where to begin, here is your starting point.
I will start with the plethora of shows last weekend in Chicago(kinda), Illinois. Piggybacking off of AEW’s All Out, GCW, Freelance, and BLP had a stellar weekend of independent wrestling.
On Freelance No Place Like Home, This show delivered some pretty solid stuff, such as Nick Gage and Danhausen teaming up to take on Frank the Clown and GPA, but the highlight for me was Shane Mercer taking on Craig Mitchell in a no DQ match, which just went on to prove how much of a physical abomination Shane Mercer is. If you watch only one match it would be this.
3 Cups Stuffed had the conclusion of the long rivalry between Jimmy Lloyd and G-raver after LLoyd almost ended Ravers career at the same show(2 Cups stuffed). “The End”. Frankly this match was a letdown compared to the others, but they redid the spot that hurt G-raver and safely(well as safe as you can get with glass). I’d be remiss not to mention Effy vs Jake Something, an absolute sleeper match.I have two matches that are really “must see” off this show, Alex Shelley lost his BLP midwest title to Tom Lawlor in probably the match of the night. And there was a lucha 4 way tag match with some incredible, breathtaking spots. I can’t decide which is more worth watching.
BLP Ground Control to Filthy Tom was also a fantastic show, Kylie Ray finally wrestled Killer Kelly, Tom Lawlor and Daniel Garcia fought over the Midwest title, Josh Bishop murdering Trevor Outlaw, Lee Moriarity vs Laredo Kid, Kevin Blackwood vs Janai Kai, Danhausen, Danhausen, Danhausen, and Danhausen vs Warhorse, Dan the Dad, Effy, and a mystery partner(Danhausen) in an amazing comedy match. But I would like to put the spotlight on Jake Something vs Stallion Rodgers(fka Curt Stallion). Jake something is a guy I’ve seen some of, but this weekend really sold me on him. Holy shit this dude is special. I have not seen Stallion before, but he really impressed here and at 3 Cup stuffed. This is my must watch match.
GCW Art of Wargames was insane, the end to Nick Gage vs 44OH, a 2 year rivalry(one of the best indie rivalries in recent memory). I would say the war games match is the must watch, but that would be too easy. Tony Deppen forced Allie Katch to wrestle a more straight style as opposed to her usual hardcore outings in GCW. There was a 2 ring PBR ladder scramble fuckfest. Besides Shane Mercer killing Yoya and Jake Lander, Ninja Mack hit an incredible flipping powerbomb off the top of a massive ladder to Dante Leon to win. Some crazy spots, worth checking out. Jon Moxley defeated Matt Cardona to win the GCW title and laid out a challenge to Nick Gage. The match that sticks out the most for me was Janai Kai vs Billie Starks. Unannounced and a rematch of their match at
JCW Opening Day . These girls killed it to open the show, Janai getting cut open and looking like a demon all bloody, Billie put Janai away after a tombstone in 8 minutes. They stepped it up from their previous match and delivered in strides. Hope to see these two continue fighting.
GCW Presents Effy’s Big Gay Brunch was a great way to end the weekend, supporting queer charities in Chicago, Pollo Del Mar was an incredible and hialrious host for this event. Edith Surreal made her return to the ring after an injury that put her out for a few months and put away Veda Scott showing she has no ring rust and can still hang. Jake Atlas returned to the indies to take on Effy, delivering a great contest. My highlight is SGC(Matthew Justice and Mance Warner) vs MV Young and Billie Dixon. A crazy tag team brawl, with Dixon “getting the straight beat out of him” and ending his “Straight Bill” gimmick. It was wild, all over the place, and the guys beat the piss out of each other.
Limitless Wrestling brought to us their annual tournament the Vacationland Cup, 8 men in singles matches to start, moving on to a final 4 way elimination match to win the tournament. Two former winners enter the tournament, JT Dunn and Anthony Greene(fka August Gray in NXT). My standout match was the 4 way tag featuring Sea Stars vs Charles Mason and Ava Everett vs MSP vs Prestigious. Playing in to stories set earlier in the show, and having some fun crazy action.
Upcoming this weekend we have a huge lineup
9/10
7:30 PM EDT AIW presents Sunny Days, match to lookout for Gringo Loko vs Alex Zayne vs Chase Oliver vs Matt Cross. Zayne coming back to the indies, he has something to prove, lots of flippy boys bound to impress.
9PM EDT Freelance Wrestling, match to look out for, Craige Mitchell vs Blair Onxy vs Acid Jaz vs Trevor Outlaw vs Alfonzo Gonzales vs Devon Monroe. Not too familiar with the Freelance roster outside of their show last weekend. Scrambles tend to always be fun and a great way to feature lots of talent.
10PM West Coast Pro presents I Hate you With a Passion. In my opinion, this is a top two contender for what could be the best show of the weekend. Match to watch out for, AJ Gray vs Alexander Hammerstone vs AJ Gray for the West Coast Pro Heavyweight Title. Two hardhitting guys, should be a standout match this weekend.
9/11
6:30 EDT Pro Wrestling Magic live for the first time on IWTV. Match to look out for, Pro Wrestling Magic Womens Championship Jordan Blade defends against Lady Frost. Two great wrestlers, bound to put on a great match. Lady Frost has been breaking out a bit more, but should be an absolute blast. Also check out Erica Leigh, a fantastic talent.
7:00 EDT Paradigm Pro Wrestling and Ohio Wrestling Alliance team up to present Heavy Hitters 3. A tournament of some of the toughest in the business. My other choice for potential show of the weekend. Paradigm specializes in using a modified UWFI ruleset, along with the occasional deathmatch and many regular wrestling matches. Match to watch out for Josh Bishop vs Jake Something. Two big dudes who will hurt each other real good. Should be intense and heavy hitting
8:00 EDT No Peace Underground presents Gauntlet of Death. First of two deathmatch shows this weekend. NPU takes place(typically) in the Sound Bar in Orlando, Florida on a stage, specializing in no ring deathmatches.Gauntlet of Death typically has some crazy setup to send it off, and a sight to see. Match to watch out for, Mickie Knuckles vs AJ Gray. Gray having quite the weekend, two tough opponents, he will be put to the test.
9/12
4:00 EDT AWR presents Rotten to the Core 2. The second half of the deathmatch portion of the weekend, and the final stream of the weekend. This show features ECW legend Rhino in a doors match challenging for the championship. Match to watch out for, I’m between two, but I have to go with Carpet Strip Fuckery Death Match Josh Crane vs Remington Rhor. Carpet strips are brutal, and Josh Crane impressed in a great deathmatch against Hoodfoot a few months ago.
Thank you all for reading, I hope you can checkout some or all of the shows this weekend, and I hope you too can enjoy indie wrestling.
Edit: Kylie not kay Lee. Always mix their names up in my head

2021.07.30 11:23 toon3c PRB 10K Charity Event (not a road race, 10k beers!)
Come join us on Saturday July 31, 2021 for a one-of-a-kind charity event. The
Parker Lee Foundation is hosting the PBR10k-The Tribute, our annual event. The event features 3 live bands, cornhole and beer pong tournaments, food from
Outsliders Ohio, and, as the name implies, plenty of cold Pabst Blue Ribbon beer (as well as samplings of other PBR products).
Most importantly, due to our amazing
sponsors, all expenses have been covered, which means ALL proceeds go directly to a wonderful local charity
Directions for Youth & Families.
We kick off at 2 PM at the the Shamrock Club, 60 W. Castle Rd., Columbus 43207. Weather forecast could not be better for a day full of food, fun, refreshments and live entertainment. You can purchase
tickets in advance or buy them at the event (but advance is easier).
Tell them Reddit sent you!

2021.07.20 21:10 siouxu My comprehensive native's guide to a Colorado Rockies game
Greetings fellow natives. Now that the "All" "Star" "Game" we rightfully stole from Atlanta is over, we can share tips and tricks on how to best enjoy our world class baseball team without pesky trashplants looking for advice.
First, be sure to wear whatever other baseball teams apparel you have or the city you were formally native to. You need to let these donkey pokes know how much better Chicago is than Denver and that's why you live here. Remember these people are but just simple, uncivilized, toothless mountain folk and YOU are what makes Denver great.
I exclusively buy the standing room only rooftop ticket soley because they include a beverage credit. Then I usually pregame at Swankys, Great Divide and that one distillery with goofy shit on the walls on an empty stomach. Only in that order. I then show up around the third or fourth inning after pregaming, drink a few $17 Summer Shandy's and start looking for seat sections to squat in. BUT BE SURE TO DERIDE THE CONCESSION STAFF FOR NOT CARRYING 1) GOOSE ISLAND 2) YUENGLING OR 3) THAT AWESOME CRUSHABLE EYE PEE AYYY YOU GOT "BACK HOME". Let's face it, you're top dog but you gotta let people know that.
With any luck, the Rockies haven't blown whatever lead at this point so I'll continue crushing beers until the 7th inning stretch at which point I'll ride my buzz out for the next inning to watch the bullpen fuck everything up. If things are jiving well I might harass the bullpen from the overhang in center field. More than likely at this point I've realized I can't hold my liquor and begin searching for a rocky dog or the native favorite, rocky mountain oysters. My stumble takes me to the concourse on the first or third base side. An usher has usually noticed my extreme intoxication by now while I use one hand to hold myself up on the condiment cart while shoving a footlong tube of meat into my mouth with the other. I'm politely asked to leave which I happily oblige because the score is 8-3 visiting team and they're not even serving Coors Banquet anymore. I swim upstream through all the fellow Cubs/Dodgers/SF/Yankees fans towards the right field exit. Be sure to high five and exclaim "Let's goooo [trashplant team name]" as loudly as possible. Again, you gotta flex how much better you are than them.
There's an alley behind the Church of Scientology that works great to vomit in. Now, that I'm feeling better after expelling my stomach I can feel myself getting tired so I need to keep putting oil in the engine. I'll head over to Herbs or there's this other shitty bar I can't remember the name of but if you keep your game ticket, they'll give you a free PBR. Free beer, yo. I might chat up a few fellow natives about growing up in Ohio and I'll stick around for maybe two more beers before I realize how much better I am than everyone in the bar. The next few hours get kinda hazy but usually alternate in 1) getting kicked out of either The Gin Mill, Retro Room (scorpion shots ftw), View House or Star Bar and then 2) trying to order food at Ians Pizza, Biker Jim's (fried Mac n cheese is dope) or Marquis Pizza. Sometimes nothing beats a rattlesnake taco from Los chingones, but that's a bit of a walk and you'll encounter hobos. I'll usually then pass out in confluence park amongst fellow native campers.
That's just me but everyone has their own tips n tricks. Namaste.
Pro tip: There's a line of purple seats up top that signify you're at a mile high. If the rooftop isn't your choice, I'd sit here and make getting "high" jokes and saying you hardly feel the altitude.

2020.09.13 03:35 Thespacecatt13 Any suggestions?
What’s up. I’m 24 from Kentucky now living in central Ohio. I drink PBR currently as I have since I was a kid at my grandpa’s. I’ve tried other beers but there’s just not one that’s been “right” you know? So... I’m kinda looking for something a bit stronger, not a stout though, I tried one of those chocolate rogues and ew. I like Stella Artois, it’s just a little more earthy than I’m looking for (it kinda tastes like weed). I’m looking for something a little more caramel if you get my vibe. I drank knob creek or makers from 21 to 24 but am switching to beer because I got me one pregnant during the quarantine and she’s not into the idea of me drinking liquor so often.

2020.08.08 13:35 youto2 House Party 8/03/20 - Part One
We open our scene, as we get a panning shot of the Knoxville Civic Auditorium! The top deck may be taped off, but that does not mean we do not have an excited crowd on hand, as we see many cups of beer flowing, as they chant- Crowd: W-I-R! W-I-R! W-I-R!
We then pan over to our commentary table, where we see Paisner and Woodbridge with wide smiles, looking hype for tonights action! Paisner: Hello everyone! And welcome to another edition of House Party, coming to you live from Knoxville, Tennessee! I’m Allen Paisner-
Woodbridge: And i’m Mark Woodbridge!
Paisner: And we got another exciting show in store for tonight! Seeing action such as the debut of the most hot, and the most ready new tag team on the block, as Hot’N’Ready take on Red Army, who certainly are not happy after Ivanov’s loss to Buster last week! We got classic big v small action in Oona Slash vs Hugo Ironblood! A battle of the yet to be defeated, vs the yet to win, as Seth Blackheart coming off of two consecutive victories in his first matches, faces the 0-3 Jim Baker looking to prove himself! We will see the in-ring return of Klutch as he faces off against the devient that is Big Larry, plus add potential Balandran revenge to the mix? That’s a hot kettle right there! And in our main event, leader of The Horde and #1 Contender to the Independent Championship, Tony Stevens, fights the eccentric Dexter Flux who just…..kind of took one of the jackets The Horde produced after Stephen Romero didn’t really want it. But enough talk now! Into the action!
We cut to Javier, stationed in the center of the ring Javier: The following contest is scheduled for one fall-
Crowd: ONE FALL!!
Javier: And…
Javier pauses and looks at Paisner. He mouths an “I’m sorry” and continues Javier: Is sponsored by Ballsweat 2.0, More Balls, Less Sweat!
The crowd boos. Woodbridge: Looks like Ballsweat 2.0 isn’t over.
Paisner: Under my legal console, I can’t answer either way, Mark.
Woodbridge: I can, Allen. As much as I don’t like Klutch, Balandran has an asskicking coming, and he’ll get his, you watch.
Limp Bizkit’s My Generation plays over the PA as Big Larry comes barreling out of the curtain, getting a small hometown pop Javier: From Knoxville, Tennessee, weighing in at 250 pounds, BIG...LLLLLLLARRY!
Woodbridge: Big Larry wanting to go big tonight, Allen!
Paisner: Well, Big Larry has the home field advantage tonight, but with his opponent, I doubt that’ll help his chances.
Woodbridge: Either way, we’re gonna have a HOSS FIGHT TONIGHT! WOO!
Woodbridge downs a PBR as Big Larry steps over the top rope. He does a taunt to the crowd getting a mixed reaction, then waves them off like they’re below him. He goes into his corner as his music slowly fades out. Javier: And his opponent.
The bass and drums from “Huka Blues” by Harry and the Slashtones plays over the PA as the crowd erupts. Paisner: He’s back!
Klutch enters the arena as the saxophone enters the song. The crowd cheers as Javier continues his introduction Javier: From Wherever He May Roam, weighing 295 pounds, KLUTCH!
Crowd: WELCOME BACK! WELCOME BACK!
Woodbridge: Klutch, a man who drank old Crystal Pepsi, put on a mask in an insane asylum, dropped acid for a solid month, ran a religious cult, and finally, has a heart of iron, is looking absolutely great here!
Paisner: But you gotta ask the question, hell, I gotta ask the question: Will he be ready in time? Balandran is a fresher, younger, and definitely more fit than The Man of a Thousand Gimmicks.
Woodbridge: This man is a former Independer Champion, a former Tag Team Champion, and on top of that, he’s dangerous and has the guts. And that may be enough.
Paiser: As he enters the ring here, he must put Balandran on the back burner, and worry about the man in front of him, Big Larry.
Klutch enters the ring, and looks down Big Larry. They meet face to face as the music fades out. Woodbridge: HOSS FIGHT! HOSS FIGHT!
Harry Undersach somehow pushes them apart, and looks at Larry, who signals he’s ready, then at Klutch who does the same. Undersach then signals for the bell. DING DING DING Both Big Larry and Klutch charge each other, locking up. Big Larry overpowers Klutch, pushing him into his corner. Klutch holds up his arms, acknowledging Larry’s strength. Larry does a muscle man pose toward Klutch, laughing at him in the process. Crowd: BOOOO!
Klutch then motions for him to lock up again, Larry obliging. They move around a bit, Larry pushing Klutch into the ropes, signaling Undersach to start the count. Larry breaks the lockup, moving back slowly. Klutch then moves towards his corner again, catching his breath Woodbridge: Both of these men feeling each other out here, clearly there is some brute strength being shown by Big Larry.
Paisner: Klutch has been known to show strength, but he’s also never been eye to eye with a man like Big Larry!
Klutch motions for one more lock up. Big Larry charges in, only to be greeted by a swift kick to the gut, then an uppercut to Larry’s jaw, shooting Larry back to an upright position. Crowd: OHHHHH!
Klutch runs against the ropes, giving Larry a huge lariat, sending Larry down to the ground, getting the crowd hyped. Klutch then runs the ropes again, dropping a big elbow on the heart of Big Larry, going for the pin ONE Quick kickout by Larry. Klutch gets back to his feet, followed closely by Larry. They lock up again, only Klutch is able to get a side headlock on him. Larry pushes Klutch off of him, sending Klutch to the ropes. Klutch ricochets off of the ropes, setting up for a lariat, which Larry dodges. Klutch bounces off the opposite side, which Larry sets up for a clothesline, which Klutch ducks under. One more bounce and Klutch finally greets Larry with a huge right hand, sending Larry into the ropes. Crowd: OHHHHH!
Using the momentum, Larry bounces off the ropes and delivers a right of his own. Klutch, also feeling the momentum, bounces off of the ropes and delivers a hard lariat, causing both men to collapse. Klutch quickly goes for the pin. ONE Not even close. Larry kicks out. Klutch gets to a kneeling position, frustrated. Woodbridge: Both men are trying as hard as they can to knock the other out. Klutch, thus far keeping up, but what can he do to put Big Larry away?
Paisner: Well punches seem to not be doing the trick. Klutch has got to try something else.
Klutch, back to a standing position, gives Larry, who is back on his knees, a swift kick to the back. Klutch gives another kick, this time targeting the kidneys. Crowd: OHHHHH!
Woodbridge: We’re seeing some old school Klutch here. He is using his brute force to focus on the back. If Big Larry can’t lift, he can’t win.
Klutch then targets Big Larry’s right leg, giving another swift kick. Klutch backs off a bit to hype up the crowd. The crowd pops as Klutch turns his attention to Big Larry, who is now getting back up. Klutch goes to grab him, but is met with a big punch to the gut, followed by another punch to the gut. Crowd: OHHH!
Larry gets back to his feet, and throws a right at Klutch. Klutch runs his hand by his mouth, then looks at his mouth, then at Larry. They both then charge at each other, throwing rights back and forth. Crowd: FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!
Woodbridge: This isn’t even a wrestling match anymore, this is a literal brawl!
Paisner: Klutch, not used to being in the position he’s in, is throwing everything he has at Larry! It’s a fist fight, and we expected nothing less!
Klutch then throws a huge right in the midst of the punches, and knocks back Larry. Larry comes back, but is then greeted by a huge kick to the midsection. He runs the ropes, then meets Larry with a knee lift, followed by a huge forearm smash. Larry goes down, and Klutch looks around, crazed look in his eye. The crowd jumps up with excitement. Crowd: YAY!
Paisner: AND I THINK IT’S TIME!
Woodbridge: That familiar look in his eye! He’s wanting that piledriver!
Crowd: BOOOO!
Woodbridge: Now what the hell is this?!
From the curtain comes Bernardo, Austin Balandran’s trusted servant. In his hand is a silver platter with a kendo stick. Klutch looks out to the entrance, confused as to what’s going on. The camera then shoots over to a different angle, showing Austin Balandran right behind Klutch with a steel chair. Paisner: Klutch needs to turn around here! Klutch!
However, too little too late. Balandran smashes Klutch with a huge thunderous shot to the back with the chair. DING DING DING Javier: Here is your win..OH SHIT...
Balandran gives that signature cocky smile, assuming he’s finally found the way to tear down Klutch. Klutch, clinching his fists, turns around and sees Balandran’s smile go from wide to non-existent. Balandran goes for another hit, but is met with a swift kick to the gut. Crowd: YAAAAAY!
Balandran drops the chair, giving Klutch the opportunity to grab the weapon, doing so rather quickly. Klutch grabs the chair and gives Balandran a smack over the back, sending tremors throughout Balandran’s body. Crowd: OHHHHH!
Balandran quickly rolls out, not wanting any more punishment. Klutch motions for him to come back in. Meanwhile, Bernardo reaches ringside and enters the ring. He grabs the kendo stick and drops the silver platter. He tries to muster up courage as Klutch still has his attention on Balandran. As Bernardo finally gets the nerve, he goes for the swing...only to have Klutch turn around at the last second. He stops in his tracks, having the sheer look of horror on his face. The crowd gets excited, wanting Klutch to destroy Bernardo Crowd: FUCK HIM UP! FUCK HIM UP!
Paisner: YES! GET HIM! YES!
Woodbridge: Remember the lawsuit?
Paisner: FUCK THE LAWSUIT! PILE DRIVE HIS ASS!
Bernardo drops the kendo stick, and tries to run away, but Klutch grabs him by the hair, and walks him around in the ring. Balandran, who has by now escaped to the entrance, watches in horror as his servant is being punished for his crimes. Klutch, now looking at Balandran again, points at him with his free hand. He then kicks Bernardo in the gut, and places his head in between his legs. Klutch mouths some inaudible words, and picks Bernardo up. Woodbridge: DIAL THE CLOCK! UNINSTALL WINDOWS!
Klutch piledrives Bernardo, tossing him to the side. He continues to sit on the mat, still locking eyes with Balandran. Crowd: OHHHHHH!
Paisner: Y2KLUTCH! AND IF KLUTCH HAS HIS WAY, HE’LL PILEDRIVE BALANDRAN STRAIGHT TO HELL!
Woodbridge: ALLEN!
Paisner: I’m sorry. This whole situation has me stressed out. But damn it, I hope, nay I pray, that Klutch can pull off the big one!
Klutch’s music starts back up. He looks around him, and gets back up, hamming it up to the crowd again, getting them excited again. Crowd: YAAAAY! KLUTCH! KLUTCH! KLUTCH!
Paisner: Folks we’ll be right back!
The lights then cut off for a moment, as ringside crew clean anything around ringside and in the ring itself, before they come back up, as we see Javier, calming himself down from the previous ordeal, getting ready for more announcing. Javier: The following is a tag team match set for one fall with a 30 minute time limit! Introducing first….
The Sacred War by Red Army Choir blasts throughout the venue, as Ernesto Vargas and Viktor Ivanov step out onto the entranceway, looking like not particularly happy men. As they march their way down to the ring. Javier: From St. Petersburg, Russia and Buenos Aries, Argentina respectively, weighing in at a combined 412 pounds, Viktor Ivanov, Ernesto Vargas, THE RED ARMY!
Crowd: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Ivanov and Vargas make their way down, Ivanov ignoring all around him, and Vargas jawing with the crowd, as they step into the ring, awaiting their opponents. This fuckin’ shit begins to play…..as for a good 40 seconds, well after the song kicks in we see nobody come out from behind the curtain, as we look inside the ring and see a deeply impatient looking duo in Vargas and Ivanov, wondering what in the hell is going on. As FINALLY we see Hot’N’Ready out on the entranceway, as we see Damian Pakachio and Ryan Drillian come out from the curtain. With the forever alone rage comic face airbrushed onto both of their tights. As they RUSH down to the ring, sliding into the ring, as before their music even stops, they try and spear both of The Red Army! Damian getting a successful one on Vargas, as Ivanov manages to hold Drillian back, looking more offended and annoyed at what they’re trying to pull than surprised, as he tosses Drillian off of him, then grabs Damian off Vargas and tosses him through the ropes, Vargas rolling out of the ring hurt from the spear. As a very deeply confused Mia calls for the bell seeing just Drillian and Ivanov in the ring. DING DING DING Ivanov heads over to Drilliann, and begins to just pound on Drillians’s back! Forcing him down to the mat, before laying in stomps to his back, and grabbing him to toss him across the ring with a bul-plex! Drillian landing roughly on his back, as Ivanov looks all business. Ivanov grabs Drillian, and tosses him into a corner, where he lays into him with a vicious knife edge chop! Reddening Drillian’s chest, then another! And another! And another! Sinking Drillian halfway down in the corner, as Ivanov heads off to the opposite corner, and rushes at Drillian, but Drillian manages to counter!.......by grabbing Ivanov’s nose! Drillian laughs at what he accomplished, as Ivanov looks thrown off by what just happened to him, before pushing Drillian off, but this gives Drillian the opportunity to toss out one cheeky little job to the face of Ivanov, more to pester him than hurt him, before retreating to the ropes, tying himself in them, and repeatedly calling for Mia to enforce a break everytime Ivanov tries to get close to him. Eventually, Ivanov has enough of this shit, as he rushes Drillian anyways, and boots him out of the ring! Mia reprimands him for this, but is not strong enough ground for a DQ, so we continue going, as we see Vargas recover from the spear he took earlier, and pop into their tag corner, and Damian slide into the ring to take Drillian’s place, as Ivanov goes to tag Vargas in. Vargas and Damian face off from each other, as the two approach each other, before Vargas goes to use his speed to slip behind Damian! Getting a quick go-behind in order to lift and drop Damian face first on the ground, before jumping up into a double foot stomp on the back of Damian! Damian grunting out in pain! Vargas then grabs Damian, and lifts him up, tossing him into a corner where he rushes, and clocks Damian in the head with a high knee! Stunning Damian, as Vargas whips him into the opposite corner and does it again! Then back into the original! Then back into the opposite! Then back into the original! Then back into the opposite, then back into the original, as he finally lets up, and Damian loopily stumble out the corner, former slowly falling in a tree falling like fashion onto his back. Vargas smirks at his work, as he stays against the ropes, and signals for Damian to make his way back up. After a good few moments, Damian begins to stir, first doing so weakly, but eventually pushing himself all the way to his feet, albeit without great balance on his feet, as Vargas then rolls towards him, then springs up for his “Justicia” rolling thunder DDT!........but Damian ducks his head under, and does so at the precise height for Vargas to land his nuts right on top of Damian’s head! Resulting in a low blow as Vargas falls to the mat clutching at his crotch! Mia goes to threaten Damian, but Damian insists that was 1000 percent unintentional, that this was a cade of Vargas just happening to land on his crotch rather than a low blow, and Mia being unable to prove him wrong, lets the match continue. Damian, sensing an opportunity, walks over to Vargas laying on the mat, as he looks out to the crowd, and hypes them up with a mix of removing his elbow pad and further theatrics, before beginning to repeatedly run the ropes to build up for his “Shitposter’s Gambit” People’s Elbow!....but then we see he just…..keeps running….and running….and running….and running….and running….and running, to the point where Vargas completely recovers sits up, sees what Damian is doing, and just stares in complete befuddlement, as Damian ignores the fact that Vargas has sat up and just…..keeps running. As Damian continues to run, eventually Vargas decides he has enough, and goes to stand up, but right as he does so, Damian stops on his next run back, kicks Vargas in the chest to floor him again, before dropping the elbow on Vargas! A major grin forming on Damian’s face, as Vargas pops up, looking a mix of surprised and deeply offended at what Damian just pulled on him. He rushes at Damian in anger, but Damian sidesteps him, and shadow boxes the air to taunt Vargas, Vargas rushes at Damian again, but unfortunately for him the process is repeated. Vargas then rushes again, but strikes to try and account for the sidestep…...so Damian simply rolls away predicting this adjustment, and does a sort of ta-da! pose at Vargas to further taunt him. Vargas looks deeply angered, as in this state, he charges Damian again, but Damian twirls himself behind Vargas, and slaps him in the back of the head, and for the briefest moment, has a satisfied smirk on his face…...but that is quickly erased by Vargas in his anger mule kicking him in the nuts, dropping Damian to the ground holding at his crotch, as Mia calls for the bell! DING DING DING Hot N Ready win by DQ in 4 minutes and 43 seconds, but this does not do them much good, as Vargas repeatedly stomps on the body of Damian, before just pressing his boot into Damian’s throat! We see a recovered Drillian rush into the ring to try and save his partner, but Ivanov rushes into the ring with a chair, and wails Drillian in the back with it before he can do anything to save Damian! Ivanov forcefully throws down the chair on Drillian’s back. As we then see both members of Red Army pick up the respective member of Hot’N’Ready they’re dealing with, Ivanov grabbing Drillian in a gutwrench, Vargas lifting Damian up from behind, as they synchronize their finishers on them! Ivanov drilling Drillian into the mat with his Karelin Lift, lifting the gutwrench high then dropping it into a piledriver on the top of Drillian’s head, and Vargas also spiking Damian as well, performing a standing version of his “Salvador Rojo” poison rana! The crowd tosses trash into the ring at the post-match attack by Red Army, who just look down at Hot’N’Ready with disgust, before leaving the ring, as ringside and medical crew rush into the ring to carry out the nearly unconscious members of Hot’N’Ready. We happen upon Chad Hammocks, who is stalking around through halls peeking through doors with a microphone in hand and Cameraman Chuck in tow. Hammocks finally peeks through a cracked door to see Stephen Romero and Buster Bravado, who are talking with eachother as Hammocks turns to Cameraman Chuck and lifts up a finger to his mouth to shush him. Hammocks cracks the door a bit further.
Buster: Hey man, all I’m saying is, and I don’t think it’s
that controversial, but all I’m saying is, Martin Luther King Jr. was a conniving no good suck-up coon. That’s all I’m saying.
Romero: Its… just, why is
this the hill you die on. Jeez. I mean, even Malcolm X-
Buster: AHEM. His
name is El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz. Come on now.
Romero: Y-yea, sure. Well, even he wouldn’t go as far as to say all that.
Buster: I don’t think you know the first thing about what that beautiful man had to say, but. No worries, that’s why you’ve got me around to educate! It’s a beautiful thing, we share, this big, black, beautiful thing of ours. Solidarity, that is.
Romero: Yea, speaking of solidarity, we did a good job handling The Vanguard last week didn’t we! With you taking on Ivanov in the ring while I took care of the rest of those goons.
Buster whips out his black power pick and begins running it through his afro.
Buster: Of course, I did do most of the work there. I mean, I had it handled like the black part of a knife, but, you did good with the edges, y’know.
Romero turns to Buster with a skeptical glare.
Romero: You do know I saved you the match, right? Like, had I not grabbed Vargas he would’ve broken up the count-
Buster: Nah, I had him down for the three anyways! I think you’re just tryna take credit for my amazing feat of Black Supremacy!
Romero: Come on, dude. You weren’t winning that match if I hadn’t evened the playing field! You’re kidding yourself right now!
Buster: You are
trippin right now. I had that match WON! I could’ve taken all those crackers on by myself, there was no need for a brotha like you to steal my thunda! My Black Lightning!
Romero: I saved your ass, don’t get me wrong, you won the match! But the way you yapped off like you did it all on your own… Dunno about Black Lightning, I’m thinkin maybe Black Thunder suits you better since we have to hear all that noise all the damn time?
Buster: Yea? Keep mouthing off to your equal, or I’ll show you a lot more than noi-
Romero looks over at the now wide open door and Hammocks and Cameraman Chuck freeze in their tracks looking like they’ve been caught with their hands in the cookie jar.
Hammocks: Uhh. uhhhhhhhhhh. Uh. fuggin, uhhhhhh. Heyy, this isn’t Sparky’s room, my bad!
Romero: Sparky isn’t even in the company?
Hammocks: SHIT uh, oh damn look is that Yakub behind yall?!?
Buster turns around swiftly, turning his head left and right, and Romero just maintains eye contact with Chad who slinks backwards out of the room and leaves Romero and Buster to their own.
Buster: Wait, but where’d he see Yakub- Fuck, THAT LYING WHITE DEVIL!!
Romero: Listen, Buster, we can’t let these petty quarrels get out of hand. I respect the hell out of ya, but I can only look out for you so much-
The door now creaks back open, but instead of the meek backstage duo, the intimidating figures of Ernesto Vargas and Viktor Ivanov fill the doorframe. Looking like they just finished cleaning up from the previous match, with towels wrapped around themselves. Vargas letting out a smug laugh accompanied by a shit-eating grin while Ivanov looks on without expression.
Vargas: Ay, Che,
Que quilombo this “Black Solidarity”!
Es un desastre!
Vargas lets out another cocky giggle as Buster takes a step forward in a defensive gesture.
Buster: Y’all came back for another can of Pitch Black Ass Whoopin?
Vargas: Take it easy, fellas. We aren’t here to beat some sense into those heads of yours, as fun as that would be. It’s entertaining enough for me to watch you two
burros try to figure out which is the head and which is the tail. Speaking of, it seems pretty clear which one is more committed to a fight from who stepped forward first, eh?
Romero now steps forward, and it becomes clear how much the man towers over everyone else in the room as he steps past Buster to stand face to face with Vargas.
Romero: We may not always see eye to eye- literally and figuratively- but I will toss you across this room like a ragdoll if you question my commitment to our solidarity again.
Vargas still manages to hold an obnoxious grin on his face despite being dwarfed by the man looking down at him.
Vargas: Your friend over there may have managed to beat mine over here, but I guarantee you your kind of solidarity is no match for ours.
Romero: Next week then. 2 on 2. Me and Buster versus you two.
Ivanov speaks up from next to Vargas.
Ivanov: See you.
The Red Army retreats out of the room as Buster now steps up next to Romero.
Buster: Hey.. I know we’ve gotten close as of late but.. We’ve never tagged before, are you sure this is the best ide-
Romero: No more questioning if we can. We go out there and we do.
Romero leaves the room now, leaving alone a Buster Braggadocio who looks more shook than usual at the prospects of what he has now been faced with.
We come back to the ring, where we see Javier in the middle, ready to announce Javier: The following is a singles match set for one fall, with a 30 minute time limit! Introducing first..
Forboding chords come through, before exploding into hard guitar as The Devil by Blue Stahli plays Seth Blackheart out from behind the curtains. A deep red light coming down on him, as he has a devilishly smug look planted on his face.
Javier: Introducing first, from Columbus, Ohio, weighing in at 223 pounds, SETH BLACKHEART!
Crowd: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Paisner: Down to the ring, one deeply, dangerous man. Striking fear into his opponents with his presentations and promos, then taking their heads off with a vicious punt kick. Two down, Jericho Styles, and a former champion in Ikbal Rizwan, and now one more person in his way, Jim Baker.
Woodbridge: And he’s very confident coming into this, quickly besting another new face on the block, then a very successful veteran, he feels as if there’s little reason to worry about a man with zero wins like Baker, and doesn’t seem terribly receptive on Baker’s attempts at recruitment. He’s earned that confidence tonight, but he has to be careful not to get consumed by it, because that’s even when a demon forged by the fires of hell can get burned.
Blackheart continues to make his way down to the ring, looking around at the crowd with a sense of superiority written on his face, as he makes his way to the ring apron, steps in between the ropes into the ring, and awaits his opponent.
A chugging instrumental comes through the speakers, as we see Jim Baker pop out onto the entranceway. A focused look on his face, as he shadow boxes at the top of the ramp.
Javier: And introducing next, from Cinicinatti, Ohio. Weighing in at 245 pounds, Jim Baker!
Crowd: MIXED RECEPTIONS Paisner: And now, a man looking for his first taste of glory. Looking to show the high expectations set for him as a former star in many other promotions are ones he can live up to, and looking to protect his security in the profession, lest he take another loss and get left by the wayside due to underperformance.
Woodbridge: Not to mention, if he wants to convince Blackheart to join him and Stevens….then what better way to show his worth than with a victory right?
Baker does a bit more boxing, before walking down to the ring, eyes focused on it, as he drowns out the crowd around him, he makes it to the apron, as he rolls into the ring, staring down Blackheart from across it. Mia then signals to both wrestlers to see if they’re ready, and getting 2 nods, calls for the bell!
DING DING DING The bell sounds, as the two wrestlers begin to approach one another, inching towards the other, before suddenly as they’re about halfway to each other, Baker bursts at Blackheart! Getting a single leg takedown on him, as he just begins to pound away on him with repeated forearm shots to the skull!
Crowd: OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Blackheart begins to black, and goes to quickly squirm his way out of the situation, getting to his feet, as Baker continues to charge at him, before Blackheart mule kicks him in the gut to double him over, then drops to a knee to land an upper throat thrust to Baker! Causing Baker to back off, holding at his neck!
Crowd: BOOOOOOOOOOO!
Blackheart cracks a smirk at getting Baker off of him, before he steps back to hit the ropes and rush back at Baker! But Baker bounces back, and leaps up to take Blackheart down in a Lou Thesz press! Taking Blackheart back to the ground, as this time he rains down closed fist punches onto his head! Blackheart tries to squirm out again, but Baker prevents it this time, by goozling Blackheart by his throat in a chokehold to hold him down to the mat! Mia comes over to count Baker off, Baker continuing to choke and rain down punches on Blackheart until he finally breaks and steps off at the 4 count!
Paisner: Baker taking it right to Blackheart! This man wants a victory at all costs!
Woodbridge: He’s gotta be careful if he’s gonna fight aggressive though, Blackheart is not only fantastic at slowing down the pace and throwing people off their rhythm, but also great at exploiting people’s passions to work against them….such as desperately wanting their first victory in WiR..
Mia keeps Baker backed off from Blackheart until Blackheart begins to stir, whereupon she lets the action continue, as Baker rushes over to grab Blackheart, and whip him into a corner! Whereupon Baker charges, then socks Blackheart in the face with a running forearm smash! Rocking Blackheart as he stumbles out the corner, as Baker quickly moves to Blackheart’s side, grabbing him and dropping him on his neck and shoulders with a belly-to-back suplex!
Crowd: OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Baker goes into the cover!
1! 2! No! Blackheart out at 2!
Baker continues right on Blackheart, standing up and laying in a few stomps to Blackheart to keep him hurt, before picking him, and whipping him into the ropes. But instead of letting Blackheart bounce off, Baker instead rushes at Blackheart right as he whips him, and clocks Blackheart with a high knee right as he hits the ropes! Leaving Blackheart stunned against them! Baker then runs off to the opposite set of ropes, and comes back to clock Blackheart with another high knee! This one forcing Blackheart off the ropes as he stumbles towards the center, nearly falling off balance, as Baker then runs the ropes to deliver a third high knee!.........but at the last moment, Blackheart catches the knee, and transitions it into a full grip on the leg, then twists it around for a dragon screw leg whip! Sending Baker’s leg hard into the mat, as he writhes around in pain, while Blackheart lays on the mat from all he just took!
Crowd: OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Paisner: Blackheart cutting Baker off with a destructive dragon whip to the leg! Taking away all of Baker’s work, and making it harder to get future work in with the pain coursing through that leg!
Baker holds tightly at his leg, as Blackheart begins to stir, shaking himself off and trying to get his head straight, as he forces himself back to his feet. Blackheart makes his way up, and walks over to Baker, grabbing Baker up with a handful of hair and tossing him into a corner. Where upon doing so, he whacks Baker in the face with a hard palm strike! Stunning Baker, as he alternates to hit him with the other palm! Baker sinking a bit in the corner from the impact, as Blackheart grabs him by the chin to re-set him in the corner, as he lays in another vicious palm strike to Baker! This one instantly sinking Baker halfway down in the corner!
Crowd: OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Blackheart then stretches out a leg, as he places it on top of Baker’s throat! Choking Baker out in the corner! Baker tries to grab Blackheart’s leg to pry him off with bruteforce, but Blackheart just pushes his boot in harder, and continues to choke Baker out until the 4 count!
Crowd: BOOOOOOOOO!
Blackheart releases his boot from Baker’s neck, as Baker drops completely in the corner, falling to a seated position as he desperately tries to get air back into his body. Blackheart then grabs Baker up from his seated position in the corner, as he begins striking at him again! This time pelting with closed fist punches to the face that Mia reprimands him for, but Blackheart brushes off. Blackheart then switches up to deliver a rough uppercut to the chin of Baker! Stunning him in place, ensuring Blackheart an opportunity to rush off to the opposite corner!
Paisner: Blackheart taking solid control after the dragon whip! Looking to tear Baker apart bit by bit!
Blackheart eyes Baker from across the ring with malicious intent, as he then charges out the corner at Baker! But before Blackheart can attack, Baker gets a foot up! Going to boot the charging Blackheart in the face, but Blackheart has a response to the attempted counter! Managing to stop himself and grab Baker’s outstretched leg, before lifting his own to kick the back of Baker’s leg! Baker groans in pain, as he bends down clutching at his leg, giving Blackheart the opening to grab Baker’s head, and spike him into the mat with a snap DDT! Baker’s head PLANTED into the ground!
Crowd: OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Paisner: Blackheart with counters for counters! Always a man who seems one step ahead of his opponents! Blackheart into a cover!
1! 2! No! Kickout from Baker!
As Baker kicks out, Blackheart crawls off of him, and begins to signal for Baker to get to his feet, as Blackheart slowly rises up himself! Baker lays on the mat for a good few moments, before we see him stir and begin to push himself up to his feet. Baker slowly pushes his way up, nearly falling back down a few times from how loopy the DDT made him, but eventually makes his way up, as Blackheart quickly grabs him and sets his head between his legs! Then going to lift him up for a piledriver! But as he does so, we see Baker manage to fight back, kicking his legs and struggling until Blackheart is forced to set him down! Blackhear then tries to lift Baker up again, but Baker drops to a knee to prevent this! Blackheart tries to brute force through this, but Baker shifting his center of gravity successfully stops this! Blackheart then swings his arms to club Baker in the back! Trying to break him back down! Eventually pounding him down towards the mat enough, to where he feels comfortable re-grabbing him to set his head between his legs once more, but suddenly, Baker grabs both of Blackheart’s legs, and trips him down onto the mat! Keeping hold of both of the legs!
Crowd: WOAHHHHHHHHHH!
Paisner: Baker reversing the piledriver! Now has grasp of both of Blackheart's legs, and if last week is any indication, we know exactly what he could be going for!
Baker fights to try and turn Blackheart over, as Blackheart fights back himself, trying to scoot his way back towards the ropes, but just as it seems he’s right about to reach out to them, Baker lifts one of his legs, and plants a stomp right into the middle of Blackheart’s chest! Pushing all the air out of Blackheart’s body, as he clutches at his chest, as the distraction from the pain gives Baker his chance to drag Blackheart back into the middle of the ring, as he continues to try and turn him over! But Blackheart now fights back! Struggling against them, repeatedly preventing Baker from turning him over onto his front! Eventually, Blackheart begins to push his legs and kick at Baker’s face! Pelting him with kicks until Baker is forced to let go! Baker takes a moment holding at his face, before quickly trying to rush back in and flip Blackheart over before he can resist, but Blackheart sends another kick until Baker’s face to keep him back! Baker stumbles back for a moment, before attempting to come back, and lay in another stomp to Blackheart’s chest, but Blackheart catches the boot! And uses it to trip Baker up, Baker now on his back, as Blackheart gets to his feet, the leg still in his grasp, before he somersaults over to deliver a rough leg snap to Baker!
Crowd: OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Baker yells out in pain, as he sits up clutching at his leg, as Blackheart sees this, and takes the moment to run the ropes, and comes back with a penalty kick, but instead of aiming at the chest, he aims for the head as he sends Baker’s body flat on the mat!
Crowd: OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Paisner: JESUS! What a vicious kick from Blackheart! Taking Baker’s head off! Into the cover!
1! 2! No! Kickout from Baker!
Baker’s eyes stare out wide into the distance, as Blackheart sits on the mat for a moment, taking a good second to catch his breath and stretch out some of the pain coursing through his body. Blackheart then begins to push himself up to his feet, sweat dripping off of him, his breathing heavy, as he grabs Baker up by his hair, and brings him to his feet. Blackheart, with Baker’s hair still clutched firmly in his hands, then lays in a forearm shot to the face of Baker! Decking Baker to the mat!
Crowd: OHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Baker stares up at the lights with a thousand yard stare, as Blackheart grabs him by the hair yet again, bringing him up, before decking him once more with a stiff forearm! Baker dropping to the mat yet again!
Crowd: OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
After Baker is dropped this time, we see him try and push himself up, but only being able to do so very slowly because of the pain he’s being put through, giving Blackheart ample time to grab him by the hair once more, bring him up yet again, and deck him to the mat with a third forearm shot!
Crowd: OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Paisner: Blackheart just unleashing destruction on Baker right now! Looking to pummel him into submission!
Baker hits the mat, but we see him fight to push through, this time stronger than before, as he grabs hold of Blackheart’s gear and begins to pull himself up by it. Gritting his teeth through the pain! Blackheart looks angered that Baker is still moving, and so grabs his hair again, and tosses back another forearm, this one followed through with malice behind it! Flooring Baker again…...who we see begin to quickly rise up! A look of determination on his face as he grabs Blackheart’s gear to pull himself up!
Crowd: WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Blackheart looks took aback by this, not even able to react to grab the hair of Baker, who he tosses another forearm shot right at! Decking him once more….but Baker quickly rises up, and tosses out his own hard forearm! Flooring Blackheart to the mat, as Baker then collapses to the ground!
Crowd: WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Paisner: BAKER! Taking these shots from Blackheart but rising up to deliver his own! By god this man wants this win!
Woodbridge: This is what I say a lot about wrestling, a man’s character does not reflect his passions, even if they have a habit of beating up hippies, that does not mean they don’t care in the same way technicos do!

2019.02.18 16:08 apachebearpizzachief Old punk bar... need ID!
I used to live in small town Ohio and when I was about 16 I would come see punk shows (I think on High Street?) at this one “venue”. I put quotes because it was just in a basement and they let me buy PBR. The things that I remember were that there was a shitty pool table, a shitty bar, in a basement, only served PBR and there was ALWAYS a really drunk old fat guy who would sing the Batman theme song (Batman, whoo whoo whoo. Batman, whoo whoo whoo!) before bands would play their set. I am almost POSITIVE that it doesn’t exist today, but I was just curious if anyone else knew of this place? Thanks in advance!

2018.11.13 01:20 noodsie Recap & Photos: September 8 island wedding in Ohio (also an attempt at budget)
Okay I wrote this all out and it’s REALLY LONG, so TL;DR: My husband and I got married on an island in Lake Erie and the weather effed up our plans. We had to fly in guests at the last second and move the ceremony location day-of. But it ended up great.
Hi Weddit! It’s been a while since we got married, but I know I owed it to you to do a recap and post photos. In case you don’t know my username, I got married in September on a little island in Lake Erie, Ohio. We had some terrible weather that weekend, catching the edge of a hurricane, and the high winds messed up a lot of our plans. The ended up shutting down the ferry on the morning of our wedding at around 8am. We had to charter some flights on to the island for our guests and vendors, and many people ended up choosing not to come because there was no guarantee anyone could fly off the island on Sunday (the boats were not going to begin running again until Monday morning). Ultimately our wedding numbers dwindled from 137 yes’s to 99 attendees. While the planes were able to fly on Sunday, most people ended up staying till Monday, and we just continued the party. Despite the multitude of challenges (I’ll get to the details below!), we had an amazing day, and we wouldn’t change a thing about it.
SO!
Here are the photos—I tried to include a lot of detail shots, including the venue, cake, food, clothes, etc. https://imgur.com/a/UFbxe21 My photographer is Lauren Rachelle Photography, so all credit to those photos go to her!!!
While I would love to give you a detailed budget of our wedding, I have to say that I’m not entirely sure. I could guess, but at the end of the day, and the circumstances that happened (paying for fights, extra tips for vendors, handling the money during the reception, etc), it really got away from us. I will provide $ details when possible. I’m going to tell the wedding story first and then below you’ll find the details (with some prices) of each thing. Hopefully I didn’t forget anything!
Our wedding happened on Kelleys Island, which is the largest American island in Lake Erie. It’s small, and rural, especially compared to busier South Bass Island, where Put-In-Bay is located. Kelleys has an active quarry, several abandoned quarries, a state park, a small downtown area with a few bars and restaurants, a small airstrip, and that’s about it. We chose to hold our wedding there because it is an important location to both of us. My aunt and uncle live on the island (and in FL now), so I grew up visiting. My husband and his father used to camp, boat, and fish on the island. We love it—the quiet, the nature.
THE WEDDING:
We arrived on the island Sunday, so we had had a week of gorgeous, 85-degree days. The weather shifted Thursday, but we were still optimistic that it would be okay. On Friday morning, word started spreading that the weather was looking very bad. We were catching the edge of hurricane Gordon, and the wind was going to pick up the whole day. I started getting calls from friends, and was just devastated. We pushed onward, finishing decorations, and arrangements. Rumors that the ferry may stop running continued into Friday afternoon. Our bridal party made it by 4pm, when the rehearsal was due to begin, and they said the crossing wasn’t too bad, but the ferry people were talking. We practiced the ceremony twice by the lake, despite the winds picking up big time. By the time everyone arrived at the rental house for dinner (perch fry!), the wind was very high, and everyone hung out on the sheltered side of the house for the rest of the evening. Kind of a bummer because we picked a house that had an amazing lakefront area with a treehouse and lots of seating. We had dinner with family and then invited anyone who was on the island over for drinks. Tons of people showed and it was AMAZINGLY fun, until the rumors of the boat not running were confirmed. Immediately the night turned into us texting people, finding out who wasn’t here yet, who was en route, and making new plans. We needed to fly out several family members, friends who had flow across the country and were spending the night in Detroit, and my photography and bartender. One of the groomsmen and his wife were on plane patrol, and I had a bridesmaid who was the point person for my photographer. We went to bed pretty stressed, but high on the emotion, and pretty drunk hah.
Husband and I woke up Saturday and the waves were crashing over the break wall where the ceremony was supposed to take place. We started walking around with two of our bridal party, figuring out where we could move the ceremony. At 10am, I left them to get my hair begun, and basically told them wherever was fine. Those friends fucking HANDLED IT, and worked out a new spot with the people who lived nearby, using someone’s gravel driveway that ran between the pine trees as an aisle of sorts. They dealt with the DJ/sound, and got the chairs all set up. The plan all along was for the groomsmen to move chairs to the reception venue post ceremony, so that wasn’t too big of a problem. The wind was crazy all morning where we were, but it was more tolerable when you go towards the middle of the island, away from the eastern shore. Still breezy! But not sustained 30mph or more.
At this point I know there are planes scheduled but I don’t know who is on them. I left my phone in my room on purpose, and just started getting ready. Another bridesmaid who is talented with her camera took a few getting ready shots, and I have all the girls open their gifts. I started getting my makeup on and my photographer walked right in! She grabbed her camera and got to work, and at that point I sort of just let go of all the stress I was carrying. It was all in motion at that point. We planned to do a first look and all our bridal party photos before the ceremony, so we went to the abandoned limestone quarry, which is now hiking trails. I wasn’t nervous at all, and I’m SO glad we did a first look. It was amazing getting some photos done ahead of time, especially all the group ones. I elected not to wear my veil for this part.
After photos, we piled back into cars to the ceremony venue. We went inside and did my veil and a first look with my parents, who both cried. Had some champagne and then watched people arrive. Since we moved the ceremony that morning, there was no time to rehearse. We winged it, and it was fine, even though the spacing was off, and no one could hear the music till you got really close (our new “aisle” was like 100 yards lol). Apparently it was beautiful watching people walk up the aisle because the lake was behind us, and the waves were huge. The wind was blowing at our backs, and my veil/train got caught under my feet, so I definitely almost fell. But the ceremony was lovely. I always thought I would cry the entire ceremony, but for whatever reason, I laughed the whole time. I didn’t shed a real tear, which is RIDICULOUS. I cried every day leading up to the wedding, I would cry when I thought about the wedding! But I didn’t cry during the wedding. My siblings cried, my husband cried, but I didn’t. Oh well!
We did family photos in the trees post ceremony, and then my mom and sister and sister-in-law had to pick all the pine cones/needles out of my tulle dress to bustle it, which took some time. We realized we didn’t know how we were getting to the reception, so we took my husband’s mother’s car, husband drove. We stopped by the lake for some photos, and then down a shaded lane for some photos sheltered from the wind.
The reception was lovely, though we ended up off-timing because of the staff issues with the caterer (half of the staff didn’t make the last boat). Many of the tables were half empty because we were down 38 people, so I just kept telling everyone to sit wherever they wanted, and had the photographers join a table too. It seemed like everyone was happy to mingle and drink though, and we were glad we had some dishes brought out family style so people had more food after the appetizers were cleared. We snuck out for a few more photos around sunset, though you couldn’t see the sunset. I love these photos, we are clearly more relaxed and having fun with it. Good call on the part of my photographer.
Our caterer plated just our meals, so we had time to eat a lot of food, which was awesome. I took mental photographs during this time, and husband and I talked about how lucky we were. It’s bittersweet to realize that this is a once-in-a-lifetime moment, and we would never get the opportunity to have these people together ever again.
We did speeches right after dinner, and they were lovely. We had champagne on the tables and made people pour their own. I actually did cry during the speeches. Post-speeches it was time to cut the cake and as I stood up, I realized that I had no idea where the cake cutting set was! I decided to use the back of my (non-used) spoon, but then my dad saved the day by whipping a knife out of his sock! My dad was in a full kilt (Scottish heritage, plus a Scottish son-in-law made him want one), and apparently a knife is part of the getup? So we cut the cake with a sock knife.
We did our first dance next, and then parent dances, and then the party was on. We danced the whole time, except when I realized we needed to pay people. I found my purse (glad I brought it!) and grabbed my friend/coordinator, and gave her all my money to spread around. There was spare cash and I told her to divvy it up as extra tips, and make sure that people who took planes got compensated for the extra expense.
We ended the party around midnight, and took it back to our rental house, where we stayed up till around 4am. It was ridiculous and so much fun. I stayed in my dress, and we just had the best time.
OK, on to wedding details:
THE VENUES: We rented a large house on the east side of the island, near my family’s house. It was $4000 for the week, and we also rented the smaller house next door for just the weekend for $750. Our bridal party paid for a portion of the house since they stayed there. I think they paid for around $2000 of it. The plan was to have the ceremony at the rented house, by the lake, and hold the reception at my family’s house, in their airplane hangar. My uncle is a pilot, and they have a huge pole barn (140x80). They’ve hosted many parties there, and they offered it to us to use at no charge. They cleaned up half of it, moving tools, tractors, boats, etc, to the back half of the hanger. We purchased heavy-duty wire and clamps to create a clothesline of sorts to block the tools, and used binder clips to hang canvas drop cloths from it. We strung tulle and cafe lights from the ceiling, and my mother created a faux-greenery “chandelier” using hula hoops that we hung from the center. For the ceremony, I was adamant about not having any decorations. I knew no one would want to stay behind and clean things up, and the ceremony was going to take 20 minutes max. We were supposed to get married right by the lake, so we didn’t need anything. I think the decor for the reception venue cost us just over $200 —$75 for the lights (bought from a friend who used them in her wedding), $20 for tulle (online), $20ish for the wire/clamps, $95 for the canvas and binder clips.
THE RENTALS: Of course, we needed to bring in many rentals. We rented two “deluxe” porto-potties from the mainland, which was about $600 with ferry fees. We rented tables and chairs from the mainland as well, which came to $900 with ferry fees. We rented plates, silverware, and glassware from a local place, which was around $300. We also purchased some compostable plates/forks for dessert and the rehearsal dinner.
CATERER: Our caterer was from Cleveland, and we were so lucky we had him. He catered my aunt and uncle’s 50th wedding anniversary recently, so he was familiar with the island and the fact that it wasn’t a real venue with a commercial kitchen. We honestly just trusted his judgement on basically everything, and it was incredible. We had prime rib, lemon-caper chicken, blue cheese mashed potatoes, spaghetti squash, and green beans in a short buffet with a carving station. They also served bread, salad, and vegan pasta family style. The appetizers was a lovely cheese and antipasto spread that our guest RAVED about (I had maybe 3 bites, but whatever). We agreed to $5000 for anywhere between 125-150 guests, which I know is a steal (he said it was friends/family pricing too). Any more would cost more. We also agreed to pay for ferry transport for 2 vehicles and 8 staff. I don’t know what that would have cost because that’s not what happened—4 of the staff ended up stranded on the mainland, so we paid less, but tipped more.
DJ: Husband’s best man’s friend DJed and did some light emceeing. He was supposed to be a deal, but I am not sure if we did get a deal or not. We paid him $750, which included transportation. He brought his own equipment. Overall, we were pretty happy, but he messed up the anniversary dance (apparently I didn’t explain it very well?), which was our segue into thanking my aunt and uncle for the venue, since they would have won. And he told us we could dance all night, but ended up wanting to pack up at midnight and requested more money on the spot to stay later. So we just moved the part to our rental! I shouldn’t complain because he was super flexible about announcing everything (dinner was slow because of less staff). But yeah. One small disappointment.
OFFICIANT: My brother got ordained and did the ceremony. My sister read a poem. We did not do a unity ceremony.
CEREMONY MUSIC: A lovely friend played the guitar during the ceremony. He was perfect and it was a gift.
PHOTOGRAPHY: Our photographer was Lauren Rachelle, who was referred to me by another Wedditor. She was INCREDIBLE and I cannot say more lovely things about her. She and her 2nd shooter flew over Saturday morning, were incredibly flexible, sweet, and awesome even though we threw a billion curveballs at them. They were amazing, and as you can see, the photos were killer. She has since raised her rates since we booked her in 2017, but I would absolutely recommend her (I don’t want to mislead you on prices since she costs more now). PM me if you want any other details. We paid for her flights on and off the island, so I don’t know the total (I had my friend deal with all that).
FLOWERS: For whatever reason, flowers were stressing me out the most. My mother ended up dealing with them for the most part. She ordered them from a friend who works with nurseries in northern Ohio, and did all the bouquets/arrangements. She made me a large bouquet with ranunculus, astilbe, ferns, and delphiniums, and my bridesmaids carried greenery only. Table arrangements weren’t florals, but she did do two arrangements for near the guest book. She also made boutonnières for the boys and fathers, and corsages for the mothers and my sister. I think the total wholesale cost of the flowers was $250 or something ridiculously low. My mom and her friends were angels to make everything!
CENTERPIECES: I wanted live centerpieces, so this summer I bought a lot of plants and started growing, along with help from my mom. We trolled the thrift shops for simple glass containers (shallow bowls, mostly), and I bought copper string lights from amazon to put in the plants. We had a few battery tea lights in mercury glass around, and some battery pillar candles on other tables. I probably spent around $100-125 on plants, bowls, and lights.
PHOTOBOOTH: We have a large iPad, and a tripod. I bought a holder to attach the two, and purchased the app LumaBooth to use ($20/month to take off the watermark). It was a huge hit! We made the app do 4 photos, and then it arranged them into a “strip” that it emailed to people who gave us their addresses. It also made a gif that it saved on our iPad. We have ~500 photos that are hilarious.
BAR: We hired a friend who is a professional bartender to bartend the wedding. We paid him $200, plus paid for his trip across (which ended up being on a plane). My boss put him up overnight (old friends) as a gift to us. He had a tip jar set up as well. We had an open bar, limited though. We offered keg beer (Miller Lite), plus PBR in cans, and two Ohio beers in cans (Madtree PSA (IPA), Madtree Lift (kolsch)). We had a dry rose, sauvignon blanc, prosecco, and a red blend for wine. For mixed drinks we had vodka, whiskey, gin, and spiced rum, plus assorted soft drinks. We spent around $2000 on all the drinks, and had a TON leftover. We also bought more last minute because we ran out at the rehearsal dinner, but that was a mistake. Probably spent another $200 last minute.
CAKE: I have an incredible sister and she offered to bake the cake. I honestly don’t know how she did it; it was gorgeous and huge. It was champagne flavor, alternating layes of pink and yellow. The filling was raspberry curd, and it was covered in vanilla Italian buttercream. She sugared fresh fruit to decorate the exterior, and it had four tiers. I have no idea what she spent on the cake but I know I’m lucky AF.
FAVORS: Nixed! I sent a lot of people home with booze and plants.
GUESTBOOK: We purchased 4 bottles of wine and labeled each with a number. Our guests were instructed to write a note on a tag and hang it from a bottle of wine, which then we would drink on the corresponding anniversary and read all the notes! Some of the wine we won’t actually save because it won’t last that long, but we do plan to keep the notes till those anniversaries. Spent around $90 on wine and $10 on the tags.
MY DRESS: I wore a two-piece outfit. The corset top is Carina by Watters, and the skirt is Sawyer by Martina Liana. I bought samples, and they cost $1250 all together. My alterations were crazy expensive because I lost 30lbs and my dress was already too big, so they were just over $800. My belt was $250, shoes were $80. Jewelry was all heirlooms. My mom and I made my veil from fabric/combs/sparkly things from Joann Fabric for $25. I wore regular underwear and no bra.
HAIR: My bridesmaid is very talented! A gift.
MAKEUP: I did my own. Purchased some new things for the wedding, probably spent $100.
HUSBANDS SUIT: His mother bought it for him—a three piece suit from Jos A Bank. His shoes were $60, tie was $15, socks $10.
GIFTS: I spent more on my girls—somewhere around $50 each (a bracelet, a mug, some toiletries, and a note on a fancy card). Husband bought cuff links for his guys ($15 each). I also bought gifts for my parents, spending around $25-30 each. I also bought my husband a gift (tie clip) but forgot to give it to him until post wedding haha. Bridal party paid for their own clothes. I required the girls buy the same skirt, but they chose any white top and any shoes. The boys rented from Generation Tux, and could wear any shoes and socks, and any green tie.
RINGS: We both got simple bands, they were around $500 for both.
DAY OF COORDINATOR: An amazing friend who got married a few years ago (amidst a hurricane!) offered to help coordinate at the last second. She saved my ass, and I plan to take her and her husband out to dinner when we visit them in SC in March.
REHEARSAL DINNER: Generously split by my husband’s parents, it was $1500 in total for the food for around 50 people. We paid for the booze (it was part of the wedding booze).
MISC: We bought tablecloths, a card holder, cloth napkins to roll silverware, an easel for the seating chart, supplies to make the seating chart (which was a map of Paris, with the tables named after monuments and gold lines showing where the tables were), a couple frames for signs, stuff for a bathroom basket (did anyone use it? Idk), a plant stand that lives on our porch now, a robe, lunch for the bridal party, a ton of extra booze that week....I have no idea how much I spent. We also brought up food and booze for the week....no idea.
Overall, I
think we spent around $15000 total on the wedding. My parents gave us $3500, husband’s dad gave us $1250, so out of pocket we probably paid just north of $10k. But honestly it could be closer to $17k total. Sorry I don’t know!
This is already ages long so I will end it here. I hope this is helpful to anyone, or at least provided an interesting story for you all! I owe Weddit a lot, so thanks to everyone. Best of luck to you brides-to-be, and enjoy it—it really does go too fast.

original Facebook post
Hello again, and welcome back to my in-depth look at the history of WWE’s “Grand Slam.” It’s been a few weeks since our last installment, so let’s quickly remind ourselves of what defines a Grand Slam Champion.
ORIGINAL FORMAT (1997-2015): 1) WWF/WWE Championship or World Heavyweight Championship. 2) WWF/World Tag Team Championship or WWE/Unified WWE Tag Team Championship. 3) Intercontinental Championship. 4) European Championship or Hardcore Championship.
MODERN FORMAT (2015-present): 1) WWE Championship or Universal Championship. 2) WWE/Raw Tag Team Championship or SmackDown Tag Team Championship. 3) Intercontinental Championship. 4) United States Championship
When the Modern Format was instituted after WrestleMania 31, the World Heavyweight Championship (2003-2013) and the World/WWF Tag Team Championships (1971-2010) were discontinued and removed from eligibility. This created a whole list of wrestlers who should be considered Grand Slam Champions, but aren’t, due to the timing of when they won their championships. The most notable person on that list is Dolph Ziggler, whose exclusion is what really led to this whole discovery. After we get through the 19 official Grand Slam Champions, we’ll dive into the world of excluded superstars. So stay tuned for that.
But now, without further delay, let’s get rolling with Part VIII: Rob Van Dam.
Rob Szatkowski’s first appearance on WWF programming was actually all the way back in 1987, when he was picked from the crowd to kiss Ted DiBiase’s foot for $100. 14 years later, Rob Van Dam wrestled his first match on WWF television, when he was part of a 10-on-10 tag match on the July 9, 2001, episode of Raw Is War.
Van Dam’s first televised singles match was also his first title match, AND his first title win - On July 22, 2001, he defeated Jeff Hardy at the Invasion PPV to win the Hardcore Championship.
He became a Grand Slam Champion on June 11, 2006, when he defeated John Cena at the One Night Stand PPV to win the WWE Championship.
Rob Van Dam is our first (and only) ECW representative on the Grand Slam Champions list. (Guerrero and Jericho had spent time in ECW before they went to WCW, but RVD was really one the true faces of ECW, and didn’t leave the company until it was completely dead). Van Dam also had already won championship gold in ECW, and was a veteran already when he came to the WWF in 2001 - his first match was number 1,150 on his career to that point. After he left WWE, he spent time in TNA and won championship gold there, as well. FUN FACT: Of his 1,746 career wrestling matches, only 874 happened in the WWE. In a fun coincidence, that’s 50.057 percent. As soon as RVD wrestles two more indie shows, that 874 will become EXACTLY 50 percent.
Anyway, today’s article is all about those 874 matches, specifically the 324 of them that were title matches. So let’s Five-Star Frogsplash right in, shall we?
TERTIARY CHAMPIONSHIPS 1: Hardcore Championship: July 22, 2001 - Invasion PPV - defeated Jeff Hardy. This was RVD’s first televised singles match in the WWF, as he had just made his debut a few weeks prior. He held the title for 22 days before dropping it back to Hardy on the August 13 episode of Raw Is War.
2: Hardcore Championship: August 19, 2001 - SummerSlam PPV - defeated Jeff Hardy in a Ladder Match. He again held the title for 22 days before dropping it - very briefly - to Kurt Angle on the September 10 episode of Raw Is War.
3: Hardcore Championship: September 10, 2001 - Raw Is War - defeated Kurt Angle. Confused? I’ll explain. RVD and Kurt Angle had a perfectly cromulent Hardcore Championship match that ended when Angle got RVD to submit to the Ankle Lock at the top of the stage. Whereupon Steve Austin came out and beat both guys up and threw them off the stage. (He had a simmering issue going on with Van Dam). RVD was slightly less dead than Angle, and he was able to crawl over and pin Angle to win back his title right away because of the 24/7 rule. This time he held the title for 90 days before dropping it to The Undertaker at the Vengeance PPV on December 9. Yes, The Undertaker was Hardcore Champion at one point. I didn’t remember that, either.
ALSO WORTH NOTING: That September 10 show was the final show to be called “Raw Is War” - The next day was 9/11 and after the attacks, they cut the name of the show to just “Raw” or “Monday Night Raw.”
4: European Championship: July 22, 2002 - Raw - defeated Jeff Hardy. RVD was Intercontinental Champion and this match was a Unification Match. When Van Dam won, he officially retired the European Championship.
5: Hardcore Championship: August 26, 2002 - Raw - defeated Tommy Dreamer. This is going to sound familiar... RVD was Intercontinental Champion and this match was a Unification Match. When Van Dam won, he officially retired the Hardcore Championship.
So, in just over a month, Rob Van Dam officially ended the lineages of the two titles that made up one of the four Grand Slam Requirements. In fact, the United States Championship had already been retired, and hadn’t been re-introduced yet, so for the next 9 or 10 months, the concept of a Grand Slam Champion was extinct. Thanks a lot, RVD.
UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIPS None. But he’s still an active wrestler. So if he ever makes a surprise return for a short comeback (which he did before back in 2013), and wins the United States Championship just to pop a crowd (see also: Jeff Hardy), then he would become just the sixth superstar to be a two-time Grand Slam Champion, once under each format.
TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS 1: World Tag Team Championship: March 31, 2003 - Raw - with Kane, they defeated Chief Morley and Lance Storm in a Triple Threat match that also involved The Dudley Boyz. This was a rematch of sorts from the previous night, when Morley and Storm (with The Dudleyz at ringside) defeated Kane & RVD on the WrestleMania XIX pre-show to retain the titles. The unlikely duo of Kane and Rob Van Dam became a memorable team, despite only holding the titles for 76 days before dropping them to La Resistance (Rene Dupree and Sylvain Grenier) at the Bad Blood PPV on June 15.
2: World Tag Team Championship: February 16, 2004 - Raw - with Booker T (another unlikely duo), they defeated Evolution, represented here by Batista and Ric Flair. This title run lasted 35 days before they dropped the titles back to Batista and Flair on the March 22 episode of Raw.
3: WWE Tag Team Championship: December 7, 2004 - SmackDown! - with Rey Mysterio, they defeated Kenzo Suzuki and Rene Dupree (yes, that was a team). They held the titles for 35 days before dropping them to the wrestling powerhouse that was The Basham Brothers on the January 11, 2005, episode of SmackDown. Interesting note, that match was a Fatal Four-Way, also involving another wrestling juggernaut in the team of Mark Jindrak and Luther Reigns, and the team of Eddie Guerrero (Mysterio’s former and future partner) and Booker T (RVD’s former partner).
INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 1: March 17, 2002 - WrestleMania X-8 - defeated William Regal. This was one of the more underrated matches from that show, in my humble opinion. He held the title for 35 days before dropping it to Eddie Guerrero at the Backlash PPV on April 21.
2: May 27, 2002 - Raw - defeated Eddie Guerrero in a Ladder Match. As I mentioned in the Eddie Guerrero article, this was the match mostly remembered for a fan running into the ring and trying to tip the ladder while Eddie was on it. (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOhKVCDqrME). I can’t tell who the referee is in that clip, but it looks like Earl Hebner. Regardless, whoever it is, kudos to him for the nice takedown AND for reacting faster than the actual security person. Anyway, this title reign lasted 63 days before RVD dropped it to Chris Benoit on the July 29 episode of Raw. It was during this run that RVD defeated Jeff Hardy to retire the European Championship.
3: August 25, 2002 - SummerSlam PPV - defeated Chris Benoit. This was the second straight SummerSlam where RVD won a championship, and the next night on Raw was when he defeated Tommy Dreamer to retire the Hardcore Championship. Before Randy Orton was the “Legend Killer,” it seems Rob Van Dam was the “Championship Killer.” But I digress. This time, RVD held the title for 22 days before dropping it to Chris Jericho on the September 16 episode of Raw.
4: September 29, 2003 - Raw - defeated Christian in a Ladder Match. No fans got involved this time. He held the title for 28 days before dropping it - briefly - to Chris Jericho on the October 27 episode of Raw. Remember the whole thing with Kurt Angle I mentioned in the Hardcore Championship section? This is strangely similar.
5: October 27, 2003 - Raw - defeated Chris Jericho in a Steel Cage Match. See, Jericho and Van Dam were having a perfectly cromulent Intercontinental Championship match. Raw Co-GM Eric Bischoff ran down and distracted the referee, and so he - the referee - didn’t see RVD reach the ropes while he was in the Walls of Jericho. By the time the ref got back to the match, Jericho had pulled RVD back to the center of the ring, where he tapped out. But WAIT! The other Raw Co-GM Steve Austin came out and instead of attacking both guys like he did with RVD and Kurt Angle, he declared that Chris Jericho’s first title defense would be right now, against RVD, and he ordered the steel cage be lowered (oh yeah, by the way, there was a steel cage hanging above the ring). Van Dam won that match to win back his IC title, and held it for 48 days, eventually dropping it to Randy Orton at the Armageddon PPV on December 14.
6: April 30, 2006 - Backlash PPV - defeated Shelton Benjamin in a match where RVD put his Money In The Bank briefcase up against Benjamin’s Intercontinental Championship. To me, that seems like a high-risk, low-reward gamble, as had already won the IC title five times, and held in his hands a virtually guaranteed WWE Championship win, which was something he had never done. But what do I know? At any rate, he won the match and the IC title, and held it for 15 days before dropping it back to Shelton Benjamin, rendering the entire gamble completely irrelevant.
PRIMARY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 1: WWE Championship: June 11, 2006 - One Night Stand PPV - defeated John Cena. This was Rob Van Dam’s MITB cash-in match, but it was the very rare instance of someone doing so ahead of time to create an actual, full-length match, as opposed to a run-in after or during a separate match. In fact, the only other time this was done was in 2012, and coincidentally, it was John Cena who did it.** If you haven’t seen this match, go out of your way to do so. This was the second of WWE’s “One Night Stand” ECW revival PPVs, and they hadn’t yet created the abysmal ECW-branded TV show, so the crowd was still 100% ECW fans and they were LOUD about it. It’s hard to describe, so again, I’ll just say go watch it. Cena and RVD put on a really good match, but the crowd alone raises it from “really good” to “great.” Man, now I want to go watch it again. But let’s get through this article first. RVD held the title for just 22 days before dropping it to Edge on the July 3 episode of Raw, for reasons I’ll get into in a minute.
** = Cena scheduled his MITB cash in match against CM Punk for the big Raw 1000 episode. He won the match by DQ due to interference, which of course meant that he failed to win the title.
OTHER CHAMPIONSHIPS 1: ECW Championship: June 13, 2006 - Paul Heyman revived the deactived ECW title as a reward to Van Dam for winning the WWE Championship. For 19 days, he held both titles simultaneously. After dropping the WWE title to Edge on July 3, he dropped the ECW title to The Big Show on the July 4 episode of ECW. Now, let’s get into why…
On Sunday night, July 2, Van Dam and Sabu were pulled over for speeding in Ohio. The officer (who I picture as being a stuffy middle aged guy) smelled the dreaded reefer and this led to the arrest of both men, Van Dam for possession of weed and Vicoden, and Sabu for possession of “drug paraphernalia” (which was an unused pipe, which FTR, is not illegal), and Testalactone, which is basically a steroid. If you want a good, detailed discussion on the whole incident, check out the April 20, 2018 episode of the podcast “Something To Wrestle with Bruce Prichard” about Rob Van Dam.
While the charges in this incident are (in my opinion) extremely minor compared to just about everything else people get arrested for across all the worlds of sports and entertainment, the fact was that he was the WWE Champion at the time. And that, more than the actual particulars of the incident, was and is and always will be what matters. Both guys avoided getting fired, but they were suspended, and for Van Dam, the whole thing derailed what was finally his big main event push. After years of fighting through the efforts of Triple H holding him back, he had finally proven just how good he was and had made it to the championship level. And while there are a ton of “what if?” scenarios throughout the eras of wrestling, this is one of the more low-key interesting ones. What if the arrest had never happened? What sort of championship reign or feud might he have had? It’s worth remembering here that John Cena had only just the year before reached that level. Edge had just done so within the prior year. Those two had a long and excellent feud, and I can’t help but wonder if RVD could have been a part of that scene. Conversely, it’s also totally possible that he would have held the title for a month or two longer, and then taken a Pedigree from Triple H and dropped the title and faded away anyway. In any case, it’s an interesting topic to wonder about.
Rob Van Dam’s final title match of his first run in WWE was a 1-on-3 Handicap Match on May 8, 2007, against Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon, and Umaga for Vince’s ECW Championship. Yes, that was all real life.
He came back for a while in 2013/2014, and had a handful of shots at various titles, but without success. He had a short program against Dean Ambrose for the United States Championship (lending credence to the idea that he might come back and do so again, as I alluded to earlier), and his final title match was a Triple Threat Tag Match - he and partner Sheamus fought The Usos and RybAxel for The Usos’ WWE Tag Team Championship.
His final WWE match in general (for now, at least) was a count-out victory over Seth Rollins at the August 26, 2014 taping of Main Event.
BY THE NUMBERS This wouldn’t really be a “By The Numbers” spinoff if I didn’t throw a bunch of crazy-ass statistics at you, so here we go. The following numbers are the result of some pretty deep research at CageMatch.net, and making a shit-ton of notes and charts to keep everything organized. When all is said and done, we’ll take a look at how all these Grand Slam Champions stack up against each other.
Rob Van Dam has had:
2 European Championship matches, in which he went 2-0 and had ONE title reign, lasting 0 days and officially retiring the title.
50 Hardcore Championship matches, in which he went 41-7-2 and had FOUR title reigns, the first three of which lasted a combined 134 days, and the fourth of which lasted 0 days and officially retired the title.
68 Tag Team Championship matches (46 WWF/World, 22 WWE), in which he went 44-24 and had THREE title reigns, lasting a combined 146 days.
***In those 68 matches, he had 9 different partners:
KANE (28 matches, 1 title, 22-6 record)
REY MYSTERIO (17 matches, 1 title, 7-10)
BOOKER T (15 matches, 1 title, 14-1)
JEFF HARDY (2 matches, 0-2)
HARDCORE HOLLY (2 matches, 0-2)
THE BIG SHOW (1 match, 1-0)
SABU (1 match, 0-1)
CHARLIE HAAS (1 match, 0-1)
And SHEAMUS (1 match, 0-1)***
140 Intercontinental Championship matches, in which he went 71-67-2, and had SIX title reigns, lasting a combined 211 days.
12 ECW Championship matches, in which he went 3-7-2 and had ONE title reign, lasting 21 days.
36 Primary Championship matches (20 World Heavyweight, 16 WWF/WWE), in which he went 12-33-1 and had ONE title reigns, lasting 22 days.
Overall, he had (*deep inhale*) 324 title matches for 9 different championships, with a final record of 174-143-7, with 16 title reigns, lasting a combined 534 days, or 1.4 years (*deep exhale*).
His longest title reign was 90 days (Hardcore), and his shortest was 15 days (Intercontinental - the 0-day reigns of Hardcore & European don’t really count since they were immediately retired). His average title reign was 33.3 days.
GRAND SLAM FEUDS In a frustrating swerve (bro), I did discover a grand slam feud with Rob Van Dam. Why is that frustrating? Because it’s Chris Jericho, who I’ve already covered, so I should have already discovered it! Oh well, at least it’s another one to add to our list.
So here is that list up to this point:
Shawn Michaels vs. Owen Hart (6 matches)
Shawn Michaels vs. The British Bulldog (8 matches)
Kurt Angle vs. Edge (11 matches)
Kurt Angle vs. Eddie Guerrero (22 matches)
Rob Van Dam vs. Chris Jericho (16 matches)
I’ll be honest. I wasn’t sure how rare or common this would be, but it’s definitely proving to be pretty dang rare.
Once this list is complete and we’ve gotten through all the individual winners, I’ll break everything down and we’ll use the magic of numbers to determine who was the best Grand Slam Champion and which was the best Grand Slam Feud. It’ll be fun, I promise.
Thanks again for reading. Coming up on Part IX… a five-time (FIVE TIME!) champion... BOOKER T!

CHANGE LOG:
UPDATES:
iRacing Beta Interface
- Performance Improvements
- The iRacing Beta Interface has been disassembled and rebuilt from the ground up to improve overall performance and stability in all areas. This was a long-term project, and in the process we've made some dramatic improvements to the underlying structures that will provide immediately noticeable performance upgrades, and will make future development more water-tight.
- Dynamic Modal Menus
- Modal Menus (A menu screen that appears over the iRacing Beta Interface, such as the Create a Race screen or the Downloader) now resize automatically to better utilize screen space.
- Modal Menus now utilize a frame that includes action buttons at the bottom, while the content of the screen can scroll freely within the frame. This means that buttons like Cancel, Join, and Test Drive will always be displayed at the bottom of the modal menu window.
- Scaling Improvements
- The options for scaling the iRacing Beta Interface can still be found in the Settings section, but now the UI Scaling is handled by the game engine, improving performance substantially.
- The UI may now be scaled in 5% increments between 50% and 200%.
- Spotter Passwords
- User-Created Races and Official Races now fully support spotter passwords.
- - To view entries in Official Sessions, click the white icon indicating the amount of drivers registered for an event. Entries looking for a spotter are indicated by the headphone icon next to the "Register" button.
- Combined Sessions
- Spectator Sessions are now part of all Official Sessions, and are displayed in the same list.
- Test Drive
- You can now use a Test Drive button for any Hosted Session.
- Ultra HD Support
- UHD monitors are now natively supported and no longer require a manual activation.
Downloads
- A new Content Delivery Network, Limelight, has been added as an option for our Members.
- The "Total Download Size" on the Downloads web page has been updated to reflect the amount still to be downloaded, if a previous update attempt was partially downloaded.
- Fixed an issue on the download web page which could erroneously display a "not enough free space" error message.
Updater
- When the iRacing Updater shuts down, it will now generate car setup directories for all cars that you have installed. This should make managing and sharing vehicle setups easier.
Simulator
- We've added some preventative measures for some issues that may have caused stuttering for some members.
- Some of the third party software that the iRacing Simulator utilizes has been updated to a newer version. If you are running Windows 7, you must be running Service Pack 1 (SP1) or later in order to continue to use iRacing.
Connectivity
- The L/Q/S/P meters on the frame rate (FPS) display have been reorganized, and the ability to control them has been added to the in-Sim Options Menu.
- The meters are now broken up into 4 separate groups: Graphics, Network, System, and Steering/Force Feedback (which is only available while driving). They are still attached to the frame rate (FPS) display, and will all be hidden if you choose to hide the FPS display.
- Each individual group can be disabled, shown graphically, or shown numerically, via selections in the lower-right area of the in-Sim Options Menu in the "On Screen Displays" section.
- Graphics Group:
- - Graphically, this meter shows a 1-second running average of how much time it is taking for the iRacing graphics engine to build the set of commands that tell the graphics card how to draw each frame. An empty bar means it is taking 0 seconds, and full bar means it is taking 1 second. Like the CPU meter, a purple bar is shown beneath this one, and shows the 15-second running average.
- - Numerically, this value is displayed in milliseconds, and only the 1-second running average is displayed.
- - Graphically, this meter shows a 1-second running average of how much time it is taking your graphics card to draw the displayed frames. An empty bar means it is taking 0 seconds, and full bar means it is taking 1 second. Like the C and R meters, a purple bar is shown beneath this one, and shows the 15-second running average.
- - Numerically, this value is displayed in milliseconds, and only the 1-second running average is displayed.
- Network Group:
- - Graphically, an empty bar is 0ms of round-trip network latency between your computer and the race server, while a full bar is 1000ms (one second) of round-trip latency.
- - Numerically, this measurement is in Milliseconds.
- - Graphically, the left-side meter measures the incoming network packet loss to the Simulation from the race server, and the right-side meter measures the incoming packet loss on the race server from your Simulation. Both meters measure only your connection to the race server, not your own, nor our race server’s overall internet connection packet loss. An empty meter is 0% packet loss, and a full meter is 50% packet loss.
- - Numerically, this measurement is a percentage (100 means no packet loss, 0 means 100% packet loss).
- System Group:
- - The core of the Simulation runs 60 times per second (though some parts run at a higher rate). To keep-up with the simulated world, the Simulation must complete an “update” in less than 1/60th of a second, otherwise it will start to fall behind.
- - Graphically, this meter shows a 1-second-long running average of the percentage of that 1/60th of a second the simulation is taking to “run the world”. An empty bar means 0% of that 1/60th of a second is being used, while a full bar means at least 100% is being used, but it could actually be “running long”. If the simulation keeps “running long”, it will begin to fall behind “real time”, leading to time Skew between your Simulation and the server. A purple bar is drawn beneath the normal CPU bar, and it shows a longer-term 15-second running average.
- - Numerically, this measurement is a percentage of the allowed 1/60th of a second that the Simulation is using to update the world. Only the 1-second running average is displayed.
- - This meter measures the simulation-world time difference between your Simulation and the correct simulated-world time, as kept by the race server. While small flickers of Skew can appear due to “network jitter” (variations in the round-trip network Latency between your computer and the race server), significant amounts of Skew are almost always caused by your computer being unable to perform the calculations necessary to keep up with real time (see the CPU (C) meter discussion above). That is why this metric appears as part of the System group, instead of the Network meter group.
- - Graphically, an empty bar means your simulation is in sync with the server. As the meter grows to the left from the center, your system is falling behind the server, and the bar will be full-left when the Sim is 1 second behind. As the meter grows to the right from the center, your system is getting ahead of the server, and the bar will be full-right when it is 1 second ahead.
- - Numerically, this measurement is in seconds.
- - Modern computers have physical RAM (memory), but programs that run on them operate using a “virtual memory” address space. For a program to actually use the contents of a piece of its virtual memory, it must have actual physical RAM memory attached to it. Paging is the term that covers how the operating system manages the attachment of physical RAM memory to a program’s virtual memory addresses. When the OS must intervene in the virtual<->physical memory attachment of a 4K byte “page” of memory, that causes a “page fault”. “Hard” page faults are when the operating system must transfer data between physical RAM and your disk (or SSD). These are slow operations that can greatly impact the performance of your computer if they occur at a high rate.
- - Graphically, hard page faults are shown in green or yellow, and the meter will be full-yellow at 30 hard page faults/second.
- - Numerically, this measurement displays the number of hard page faults per second.
- Steering Group:
- - This metric shows the torque from the steering column as a percentage, after the scaling from your force slider is applied. You want to keep the forces below 100% so that the wheel is not over-saturating, but still high enough that you are using the full range allowable from your wheel. You can make adjustments to your force levels while driving by using the F9 black box. Or you can drive a clean lap then hit the ‘auto’ button in the F9 box to let us find a reasonable estimate of how much force to send to the wheel.
- - Graphically, red indicates you have 100% torque saturation, yellow indicates you have 85% to 99% torque saturation, and green indicates 84% or less torque saturation.
- - Numerically, the value displayed is the percentage of torque saturation.
- If the Simulation determines that it seems to be having performance issues that are causing it to fall behind the race server, the FPS and other meter displays will be forced on, even if you currently have them hidden. Additionally, the System meters (C/S/P) will be forced to be displayed, even if you had marked that particular meter group as hidden. The labels of the meters that indicate the indicate the performance issue will be flashed. Currently only the C and S meters are analyzed for performance issues, and so only those meter’s labels will be flashed.
Driving Aids
- Fixed an issue where the pit lane exit blue line for "Pit Lane 0" at tracks with 2 pit lanes would show when in any pit lane, and the "Pit Lane 1" line would show when not in a pit lane. Now, the blue line will correctly show up for whatever pit lane you are in, and not show any if you are not in a pit lane.
Hybrid Power Units
- Removed an efficiency correction that was left in by mistake in the MGU-K deploy demand, and deploy cap calculations.
Dirt
- The shape of the water gradient on dirt ovals is now variable, and slightly more water will be lost in the process of wearing the track away. This will cause tracks to transition from the prepared state to hardpan a bit faster and less predictably, and create a slightly drier environment overall.
- Made the toughness of dirt and resulting grip more sensitive to water content.
- The lateral strength effect of the cushion dirt has been reduced slightly.
- Heat Races at Dirt Ovals will now initialize with more track wear, and the variance of that starting usage percentage has been increased.
- The track groove that forms during Dirt Oval races should now be displayed even with the Graphics Option "Render Dynamic Track Data" disabled.
Rallycross
- Body stiffness and damping of Rallycross cars has been reduced to help decrease visible body damage and improve car-to-car contact performance.
Opponent Cars
- Opponent vehicles on your machine should now have more accurate positioning measurements sent to it from the Race Server, including altitude, roll, pitch, and steering angle. This should make opponent vehicles appear to drive smoother while racing, and in Replays.
Garage
- Fixed an issue where some values were incorrectly flashing yellow.
Rendering
- Improved the dynamic level-of-detail (LOD) adjustment for cars and pit objects when too many are visible and too high LODs are being used all at once. The LODs are now based on actual object distance rather than view depth.
- Fixed an issue where the driver's hands would disappear from your car when you were not the active driver.
Visual Effects
- Smoke effects now react to wind, lighting, shadow, and a visual turbulence effect has been added.
- Jet fly-overs have been adjusted.
Audio
- Backfires and gear shifting sounds for stockcars have been improved.
- Marble impacts, scrubs, and castoff sounds have been improved.
- Hit and scrape sounds for grounding impacts of vehicle undertrays on soft materials, such as tirewalls, rubber, and some chicane humps have been improved.
- Sawtooth curb sounds have been improved.
- Audio volumes have been re-balanced for all default iRacing camera sets.
Paint Kit
- The Craftsman logo has been added to the Paint Kit.
Force Feedback
- The Simulation will no longer attempt to dampen when the Force Feedback option "Dampen Oscillations" is checked. Instead, it will only reduce the force level. The dampen effect is not stable on all wheels. This should help reduce some wheel oscillations when the car is parked.
Telemetry
- New driver change telemetry variables have been added:
- dcDashPage, dcPitSpeedLimiterToggle, dcDRSToggle, dcPushToPass, dcStarter, dcLowFuelAccept, dcHystBoostHold, dcFCYToggle
- New driver pit telemetry variables have been added:

2018.08.10 15:42 LoudPrincess Just a few of the Rugirls I've met at our local club.
I've met a bunch of the Drag Race girls, but don't have pics with all of them since I was usually working. I'm looking forward to meeting Mayhem, Eureka, Monet, Kim Chi, and Laila in the next month. 😊
Some of the Rugirls and Related Queens I've met
https://imgur.com/gallery/tRgXmvt EDITING TO ADD MORE INTEREST:
Here's what my experiences have been thus far with Rugirls at the club -
Working in a gay/drag club, I've met a number of the queens. Most were awesome, some not so much.
Yara Sophia - I was a big Yara fan after her season, and was excited to see her perform. (This was years ago, after RPDR, but before All Stars) Her performance was really underwhelming. She basically lip synced and took tips. Seemed half out of it. But to be fair, this was when she was first touring all over the country. Got my pic with her.
Venus D'Lite - Performance, costumes incredible. In person, she was kind of aloof, and couldn't wait to get the hell out of the club. Again - The RPDR craze was just really taking off, and I'm sure she was exhausted.
Shangela - I've met/worked with several times. Just wonderful, kind, fun, and amazing all the way around. Love her. Parties as a boy the night before and promotes her appearances when she's able.
Detox - First met her after her initial season, and have adored her ever since. Loves her fans and mingling with them. Genuine and fun.
Latrice - I've hung out with her, met her numerous times. Just as gifted, professional, and down to earth as she seems on TV. I can't say enough good things about her. She's golden.
Sharon - I've worked during her appearances twice, and honestly, they weren't pleasant. To be fair, though, these occurences were a few years ago, and I'm pretty sure she's shapedup since then. The first time, she had fans waiting in line two hours outside in the cold before the bar even opened. Most of them weren't club regulars, just passionate Sharon fans. In the tour immediately after she won, her rider stipulated that the bar purchase a cheap coffin for her stage entrance, which I thought was interesting. She also had to have a 6 pack of PBR in her dressing room because she was pushing to get them to sponsor her. Our bar doesn't carry PBR, so they had to go get that special.
5 hours after many of her fans first got in line to see her, they finally got to do the M&G, and she was complaining to staff about how she hates M&Gs, how she thinks the fans "own" her. The M&G went long after the bar actually closed, and she had to be walked back to the dressing room carrying her heels.
The second time she came to our club was with Alaska on the "Heartbreak Hotel" tour after they broke up. Alaska had just released Rugirl, and was everything you could ever hope she'd be. Sharon was wasted before getting to the club.
Again, I'm sure she's grown and changed, so don't take this as current behaviors by any means.
Alaska - I've worked twice during her appearances, but never actually got to meet her. By all accounts from staff and fans at our bar, she's always been consistently fabulous.
Willam - I met him back during the DWV days, when the girls came to perform. I asked for a picture, and she said (kinda tersely) "Sure. You can buy tickets to the meet and greet, and we can do it then." I told her I would, but I was working the door, so I got two blurry pictures with her. After the club opened, she came downstairs and stood behind me while I checked IDs, scoping out the boys in line, which redeemed the evening for me.
Courtney Act - I've met her twice, once in drag, and once out of drag. The first time, she swooped in the entrance and hugged all of us door staffers, which I thought was kind.
Mimi Imfurst - We had a weird evening with her, shortly after the whole incident with India Farrah. I didn't get to watch her perform that night, but the word that reached us up front was that the audience was kinda split about it. India is/was pretty well-liked around here, being from Ohio, so I dunno if that had anything to do with it. At the end of the night, most Rugirls are hot to get back to their hotels, but Mimi stuck around on the patio and watched us clean up. It wasn't a bad experience, just odd. That must've been a funky time for her. I've come to really like her a lot.
Honey Mahogany- Even the best photos and video of Honey DO NOT do that girl justice. I've been around gorgeous queens for years, but it's rare for me to be blown away by how they are in person, and she is a VISION. Also, she was totally sweet, and posed for pictures with staff after bar closed.
Raven, Morgan, Jujubee, Pandora - All repeat performers at our club, and ALWAYS cool. They fit in with our queens and guests like they're regulars. Laid back, fun, and down to earth.
Derrick Barry - Met her prior to RPDR, and could not get over his resemblance to Brittany. Got several pics with her. Very professional.
Jade Jolie, Madame LeQueer, & Monica Beverly Hills - Had dinner with all of them and their old mgmt team out of drag a few years ago. All great people. I really enjoyed hanging with them.
Michelle Visage, Ivy Winters, Vicky Vox, Lady Bunny, Sherry Vine - Have briefly met and got pictures with or an autograph from them.
Stacy Layne Matthews - Spent a lot of time with her outside of our club one night. She's one I wish would get another glow up. She's good peeps.
Dida Ritz - Met her one night when I was stupid drunk, and felt really bad because she could not have been more kind or patient. I love her.
Delta Work - I got to see her perform on NYE one year at our sister bar. She did her Cher and Madonna routines, and as much as I liked her on the show, I became more of a fan after seeing her in person. There's something empowering about a big girl impersonating skinny celebrities with the confidence and attention to detail you'd expect from full time celebrity impersonators. She's really awesome.
Coco Montrese - I've met/seen Coco a number of times prior to her being on RPDR because of Miss Gay America pageantry. She's always been a positive, kind energy to have around
India Farrah - India has also been to our club a lot over the years through pageants. She's fabulous and fun. Love her.
Penny Tration - Penny is a friend I've known for years. Gifted with wigs, she creates big, wild hair for queens all over the country. I love her and her hubby. 💖

2017.06.03 09:13 hitokirizac Review #3: Mellow Corn
Yesterday I commented on
u/Tarquin_Underspoon 's post that I'd drop $11 I had laying around on mellow corn. I'm a man of my word. Given that his review had some more information on this stuff, I'd suggest reading it. One salient point - evidently this has been around, with few or no changes since 1945, if that's what the copyright date on the label means. Kinda love that old-timey feel, like, hey we got the message across that it's corn and it's booze, what more do you want? We don't need to update our stinkin' label. You want to fisticuffs?
I guess this is becoming like the pbr of whiskey?
One of my colleagues got his Ph.D. yesterday and we celebrated tonight (I have no idea why the delay happened, usually post-defense day = hangover day) so I might've had some ethanol already. I also had a shot of mellow corn when I got home as a palate cleanser.
Also, I'm originally from Ohio, corn is a thing there, look it up. I have a fondness for the stuff. Have you ever been in a cornfield maze? If not, you're missing out. Haunted hayrides are also pretty awesome. For all that people knock it, the midwest in Fall is pretty hard to beat.
OK, gonna pour it now. Here goes.
Color: Light straw, like white wine. Actually probably not that different from Ardbeg, weirdly enough.
Nose: Sweet, sugar, diabetes, &c. Overpowering sweetness.
Taste: A bit of burnt sugar up front. Pleasant alcohol burn (at 100 proof, this should be there!), some astringent band-aids, underlying sweetness. Not nearly as much sweetness as the nose would've had me believe. The mouthfeel is actually pretty nice. Not super complex, but actually not bad. I bet it would hold up to soda/ginger ale/old star trek episodes pretty well, were I to mix it (sadly, no mixers in the house right now).
Finish: Burn with some of that sweetness. The burn lingers on for a while, just sort of hanging around because hell, where else are you going to go at this time of night? I get you, corn.
Overall: I'm actually a little conflicted on this one. The flavor profile is different from what I'm used to in a Bourbon - more astringent, less oaky toffee notes - but with a pleasant bite that I like. It's supposed to be mellow, but BiB at 50% means it's still got a pretty good wallop in it. The super sweet nose initially put me off, but after tasting it's actually not bad. It's no Eagle Rare, but It's not the worst whiskey I've had (which was from Detroit and I'm pretty sure was actually automotive degreaser that some hipster decided to sell as booze, and that was purchased in Japan... by a colleague from Michigan, because life is strange and confusing). Not really sure where to put it on the rating scale. Probably 80/100? I mean, I don't think there's much subtlety here, but it's not bad.
Price weighted rating: LOL at $11+tax/750ml, it's hard to beat this one in value. 100 proof at that price point without tasting like a chop shop floor? Sounds good to me. Would buy again.

2016.03.10 23:00 OMGTIM Hey there. My name is Tim. I’m new here.
Background: I have two Mk6 Volkswagens, a Jetta TDI and GLI. I really did not want the GLI to see another Ohio winter, and my wife DD’s my TDI. I’m typically a Toyota 4x4 person, but after two 4Runners and bitching about how much everything costs, a good buddy of mine who has had four or five XJs told me to get one instead.
So in November of 2015, I winterized my GLI, and bought a one owner, two door, 4x4, 4.0, 5-Speed super mega base model XJ off Craigslist in Michigan. 286k miles, $700. Loaded it on a trailer, took it 5 hours back to my house in Ohio.
Super mega base model: No rear wiper from factory, no rear defrost, no rear washer fluid spray. Manual locks, mirrors, windows, no tape player, two speakers, no map lights or sound bar, and my personal favorite, no air conditioning (PO removed and substituted a replacement pulley and new belt. Said he did it to save weight. lol.) The only option this Jeep has is some form of a towing pack. Haven’t done research into it being an OEM feature, but it has a 2” receiver on the back, and the PO towed stuff from his farm to the sawmill and back most weekends.
Other than the receiver Jeep is as bone stock as it gets.
So far, the Jeep has been one of my favorite vehicles. I’m at 290k now, and am building my list of things for spring now that the weather is turning nice again. I’ve been on all of the forums, and I just discovered this little haven of XJ folks.
Wanted to say hello and introduce myself and my rig before I start participating in discussions and asking for tips. Figured its the polite way to do things.
TL;DR#1- New to Jeeps, love cars, bought old XJ, maintenance and fixing things, enjoying Jeep vs 4Runner for a change.
What has happened since November: -Rotella oil changes 15w then a 10w because winter is cold.(2) Next month will be the return of the 15w -Redline transmission fluid exchange -Redline transfer case (NP231) fluid exchange -Steering stabilizer replacement -Hatch struts -Battery -4 tires from my XJ buddy who just put new 31’s on his four door. $50 and they’ll last another month or two. - Tore headliner out.
To do (not in order): -O2 sensors... every couple weeks my check engine light comes on... same code. Its the one by the cat. -Remove insulation from roof, clean, bed-line, then another friend of mine with an XJ is really good at making headliners. I’m paying him PBR for a new one to cover the bedliner. Style points +50. -Tie rod, end links, all bushings. -Remove interior, clean, rust proof (Jeep boards and rails are in great shape... but just to be safe) then bedline and reinstall. -I need better speakers. The two in the doors sound like first gen iPod earbuds on full tilt during a Seether song. -Removable doors (Step 1) then find another set of 2-door doors for half doors. (Step 2) - Leaky ass windshield. Not horrible, but annoying when your knees get dripped on. -Need to replace the OEM wheels. They look like miserable little rust bowls. SummitRacing is a 20 min drive from my garage... sooooo that helps. -New wheels = new tires. -New tires = lift talks. Should I? With the rust (not bad, crusty bolts is now more than my old nickname in high school) is it worth the trouble of trying to remove the old suspension to upgrade and elevate? -Clutch. Mine is good and works fine, no slipping. But its a tad bit light. -Fog lights. Lots of hills and curves and we get some wicked fog in the mornings. Fog lights are a must. - Differential fluid exchange.
TL; DR #2 - Preventive and usual maintenance done thus far, some still to go then we make it fun.

2016.03.08 13:15 624952 Release Notes for 2016 Season 2
Website
- Added the ability to select the time of day to drive in Test Mode and Hosted Mode. Results will also now show the time of day for the session.
- All pages that reach into the backend for stats are sped up significantly.
- The My Series Results page has been rewritten and optimized; it should be much more responsive now!
- Hosted Sessions should now remember the correct league selections when editing.
- The modal window that appears when you receive a gift is now sizing and building correctly.
- The Replays page now features a message explaining how it works.
- The All Teams page now requires you to search before displaying any results, which should expedite loading of the page. You must search with a minimum of 4 characters.
- The Team Series Stats page will now only display Official Series.
- Fixed places where Open Practices appear available as a joinable link, but should not be due to license restrictions.
- In the Team Registration modal window, Autofill will no longer input your email address as your team name.
- Pre-Driver Chat has been removed from Pre-Race.
- Toned down the look & feel of the “To-Do” buttons across page headers. This includes yellow, red, green, and blue.
Billing
- Earlier last month, we added Paymentwall as an additional Payment Option for all of our customers. Paymentwall is a safe and secure way to pay for purchases made within iRacing. Paymentwall allows you to pay with a wide range of local payment options and currencies, so that you may choose the most convenient method for your purchase. These payment options include Gift Cards, Mobile, Prepaid Cards, Bank Transfer, and various local options for your country. Paymentwall offers the highest level of security and is trusted by over 150 million users worldwide.
Updater
- The iRacing Updater will now ensure that it has updated itself before checking and/or installing MSVC, DirectX, EAC, and D3DGear. This could have caused the self-update process to time out and not complete the update for some people.
Paint Kit
- Virtual Racing School sponsor added.
- iRacing logos have been updated to a newer version.
- The Inside Sim Racing sponsor has been updated.
Simulation
- Substantially reduced the time required for the simulator to exit.
- If a race server rejects your attempt to connect to it, it will now provide a more helpful message explaining why, instead of a generic messages about your connection being closed.
Race Control
- Fixed a bug where racers would only be allowed up to 8 minutes to finish their lap after the leader finishes a race. This should enable racers to complete their final lap on tracks with longer configs.
- Fixed an issue where sometimes incident limits were being reported in sessions which did not actually have incident limits.
Dynamic Track
- Marble creation rate has been roughly doubled.
- Fixed an issue where marbles were getting cleared from oval tracks during cautions even when the "Automatically clean marbles" option was disabled.
Netcode
- Two new Connection Type selections are now available on the main Account->My Account page, under Preferences. These selections allow higher network bandwidth usage between the simulation and the race servers. Mostly, this allows the server to send more detailed data for each opponent car and/or more opponent cars to the simulation. If your computer, graphics card, and Internet connection are all fast enough, and you select one of these new options, you’ll likely also want to adjust the in-sim Options->Graphics “Max Cars” setting to take advantage of the extra allowed bandwidth usage.
Garage
- Initial temperatures of wheels and tires have been improved, especially for cars with tire warmers. Previously, the entire wheel and tire was heated to the tire warmer temperature; now only the tire surface is heated to the specified temperature, while the wheel is more appropriately closer to the ambient temperature. This may produce a subtle change in ride height in the garage, so cars with tire warmers may need an adjustment to pass Tech if they were close to the limit on ride height.
Rendering
- The "Two-Pass Trees" rendering option is now functional on ALL tracks.
DirectX 9
- Added a new option to the "renderer.ini" file named, “ReduceCockpitFlicker,” which is enabled by default. This option reduces the z-fighting and flickering between objects that can sometimes be seen in vehicle cockpits while racing at very large tracks.
- Fixed an issue with the rendering of fog over the Dynamic Track, which occurred when rendering the Dynamic Track as a separate pass via the setting in the “renderer.ini” file.
- The flare intensity of headlights has been reduced during the daytime.
- Fixed several issues with physically based rendering at night tracks.
- Fixed an issue with shadow maps that caused some of them to periodically render using incorrect texture sampling.
DirectX 11
- A preliminary “beta” version of a DirectX 11 based version of the Simulator is now available for testing and is provided via two additional executables, a 32-bit version named “iracingSimDX11.exe,” and a 64-bit version named “iRacingSim64DX11.exe.” You may select to use either the DirectX 9 or DirectX 11 version, as well as choose between the 32-bit or 64-bit version of the Simulator using the “Settings” page of the member site. We recommend using the 64-bit version if possible.
- The Graphics Options settings for the DirectX 11 version are stored separately from those for the DirectX 9 version; they can be found in the “rendererDX11.ini” file. This file will be created automatically after launching the DirectX 11 version of the simulator for the first time, which will also initiate the auto-configuration process.
- The configuration options for the DirectX 11 versions, including the resolution and refresh rate as selected during the auto-configuration, are stored in a new section of “app.ini” file named, “[Graphics DX11].”
- Please note that when setting up any application overrides in your GPU’s device driver’s settings to take care to set them for the correct executable name(s).
PopcornFX
- The color of debris and dust is now tinted based upon the surface from which it was gathered.
- Increased the accuracy of the tire widths for debris related positional effects.
- Enhanced the accuracy for position and velocity offsets of particles.
- Grass debris particles now have a greater size variation.
- Dust particle velocity has been improved.
- Fixed an issue with smoke being lit incorrectly at night.
Audio
- New tire roll, scrub, and skid sounds have been added.
- Updated all vehicle shift sounds and tuned volume levels.
- Engine sounds will transition smoother between loads and throttle changes.
- All vehicles now make gear shifting sounds that are audible both inside and outside of a vehicle.
- Tires will now make sound when spinning while the car is stationary.
- Updated the audio frequency of rumble strip and curb sound effects.
- Fixed an issue where the sound buffer was not getting properly cleared while the Sim was shutting down, sometimes causing an annoying looping noise.
Opponent Cars
- Smoke and debris generated by opponent vehicles can now be seen.
- Opponent vehicles now show wheelspin and lockup, and skids and smoke from these actions are more realistic.
- Fixed a bug that was causing distant opponent cars to appear to have minor systems malfunctions; such as the DRS wing twitching, or pit limiter lights blinking.
Dynamic Tire Debris Accumulation
- Tires on all vehicles now visually show the accumulation and dispersal of debris. This includes materials such as grass, gravel, rubber marbles, dust, and sand. These materials are picked up when driven over based on the surface type, grip, and speed of the vehicle, and then they are removed over time by the same factors. The physics model for this activity has already been running since last season's update, so there is no change to driving characteristics, but now you can see the effects!
Vehicle Headlights
- We have added the ability for some of our cars to flash their headlights. Sports cars use this ability to notify a driver in front of them that they are about to attempt a pass. Mapping the function to a button will allow the headlights to flash on and off several times each key press. The cars that have been updated to utilize this new ability include:
- - Aston Martin DBR9 GT1
- - Audi R8 LMS GT3
- - BMW Z4 GT3
- - Chevrolet Corvette C6.R GT1
- - Chevrolet Corvette C7 Daytona Prototype
- - Ford GT GT3
- - HPD ARX-01c
- - McLaren MP4-12C GT3
- - Mercedes-AMG GT3
- - Riley MkXX Daytona Prototype
- - Ruf RT 12R C-Spec
- - Ruf RT 12R Track
Time of Day
- When creating a race you are now able to set a Time of Day parameter which includes two additional options beyond the traditional Afternoon and Night; Morning and Late Afternoon. Both new selections adjust the position of the sun in the sky, and affect the race just as this would in real life. This feature is available for all tracks and in all session modes.
Pit
- Lollipop Guy has received an animation overhaul, and will appear much more realistic!
Video Capture
- A new video capture system has been added to the Sim based on the D3DGear capture engine. By default, the hotkey "Ctrl-Alt-Shift-V" will toggle video capture on and off. Video is saved to the [documents]\iRacing\videos\ folder.
- By default video is captured at 720p and 30 fps using the WMV video container. You can change the default video quality and format by editing the [Video] section of the "app.ini" file.
- Unfortunately, the Windows 8 and Windows 10 Metro Player cannot load video for Windows codecs, so the video captured by this tool will need to be played in Windows Media Player or a third party video player.
- Windows Media Player (WMP) cannot handle the AVI2 (OpenML) file format. This format allows AVI files to grow beyond the 2 GB file limit. You will need to use a third party player such as Video LAN Player (VLC) or MPC-HC.
- A new screen capture system has also been added along with the video capture feature. By default, hitting "Ctrl-Alt-Shift-S" will save a screenshot of the sim to [documents]\iRacing\screenshots\ folder.
- Due to a limitation of our control handling code we cannot trigger a screenshot or toggle video capture when a dialog is opened. This effectively makes it impossible to take a screenshot of the garage or settings dialogs. However, you can get around this limitation by starting to capture video before you enter the Garage or other options screens and then stopping the video capture once you exit that screen. We are looking into ways to work around this limitation.
- You can disable the loading of our video capture module by setting "videoCaptureEnabled=0" under the [Video] section in the "app.ini" file.
Replay
- Fixed an issue where opponent vehicle wheels would appear to rotate incorrectly when viewing replays frame-by-frame, or rewinding.
Macros
- Text chat macro speed is no longer limited when applying a pit or admin command. Now users can use "#fuel +1g$" to increment fuel in their tank without waiting a second between button presses!
Telemetry
- Legacy telemetry (NR2003 Telemetry) is now disabled by default. It can be turned on again in the "app.ini" file by adjusting the "enableLegacyTelemetry=1" option. This interface is deprecated and will be removed from the sim next season.
- Session times are now reported with 4 decimals of precision.
ARX
- Examples have been updated.
- Fixed an issue with iOS where the UI would zoom when the app was rotated to landscape.
- ARX can now handle automatic unit conversions using either a string type or an offset/scalar pair.
- ARX data transmissions are now limited to 10 times per second to prevent overload.
ATLAS
- The ATLAS Installer has been updated, and it now fully automates the process of configuring ATLAS to work with iRacing ".ibt" files.
- A new Quickstart Guide has also been added to the ATLAS Installer.
Oculus Rift
- Fixed a bug where night track shadow volumes were rendering incorrectly in one eye.
Peripherals
- Fixed a potential crashing issue while Force Feedback is enabled in a 64-bit operating system.
CARS
Aston Martin DBR9 GT1
- This vehicle is now capable of flashing its headlights.

Audi R8 LMS GT3
- New car added!
- The Audi R8 LMS GT3 ranks among the most successful GT3 cars with more than 200 international wins in events such as the Bathurst 12 Hours and Nürburgring 24 Hours, along with back-to-back championships in the 2014 and 2015 Blancpain Endurance and Blancpain GT Series. In contrast to its all-wheel drive road going version, the R8 LMS GT3 is built by Audi Sport and quattro GmbH to comply with the rear wheel drive only GT3 regulations. However, the superb balance and impressive power to weight ratio of the R8 LMS GT3 have made it a winner in virtually every series in which it's competed.
- This vehicle is capable of flashing its headlights.

- When the front clip is heavily damaged, the pit crew will now replace the whole nose during a pitstop. This replacement takes approximately 2.5 minutes (they also have to swap the radiator and other mechanical parts), but does not show up as a repair countdown timer in the UI, so be patient if the stop appears to be delaying and you'll get a shiny new nose soon enough. This should help with the errant black flags for damage that this car is known to generate.

Havent posted in a week or so now, been getting settled into this shelter in ohio. Has been a lot better than expected. Its pretty ridiculous for a no drug or alcohol policy, everyone comes in plastered every night. Which plays to my benefit. Made a few
/drunk friends and one CA friend who im at the bar with now drinking cheap pitchers of pbr on his dollar (thank god cuz im broooke plus he offered this isint the first time either) i end up almost every night getting offered drinks either in a bar or a flask in an alley. Thank god. The shakes arent too bad, im getting by. Got an interview tmw too!
Thank god for fellow CAs. We always treat our kind right when we can. Just thought you fuckers wouldent mind an update.
Cheers and DRINK MOAR for me ;)

If you could do it different what would you do? I just turned 20, can't hold a job due to anger issues, and a college dropout. I don't drink unless i really fuck over someone i like(which isn't many people). Am i hopeless? | I probably would have looked for the good things in life instead of the bad.. When I was sober, no girls wanted me and no one wanted to be my friend. When I drank- I had all kinds of friends and all the girls wanted me.. If I could have done things differently - I would have found a way to cope and make friends and be desirable without having to be drunk. |
When you say you've gave up on life, what exactly do you mean? Are you ready to end it? Or are you just jobless in your living room naked eating cheetohs in a bean bag chair? | My wife left me two years ago. Since then I have moved Into my van... I'm in here now in a subdivision... I parked where I can steal internet (hah!).. I cannot get a good job (theft record from the bottle of wine I stole... I dream of suicide daily - I don't have the balls. |
You can expunge that record. It literally costs like 100.00 in michigan. | In ohio you cannot get anything expunged if you have more than two misdemeanors. I have three. |
If youre in the cleveland area, PM me. Ill help you find a job. | Oh ya? I'm mobile - what kind of job? |
What are you able to do? What would you like to do? If you got a serious job, can you clean yourself up and not come to work drunk? | Well - as far as chemistry is concerned, I can do most wet chemistry techniques. I have a lot of experience with titration, gas chromatography, gel electrophoresis, microscope work, pipettes, ect.. I did do some HPLC - but I would need to be retrained on how to do that... Most of the work I have done, though, has been retail sales... I'm an excellent salesman. I can sell people about anything. I never had a problem not being drunk at work. I mainly drink at night until I pass out. I would really like to get in a lab somewhere. I really want to use my biochemistry degree, I mean, it did cost me 65,000. |
What does your average day look like? | Wake up- poop.. Drink tons of water and a cup of coffe if I got it. Call my employer(if I'm up to it)- smoke a bowl or 4.. Head to work or go back to sleep.. Slave.. Grab a 12 pack.. Go from there.. Idk - nothing exciting really. |
So you do work some days. I'm sure it helps with income but not much else. Do you talk online a lot? Watch TV? How do you fill your time? | I do work- pay for gas and food... I get online when EVER I have access.. I cannot always park where it's available.. Such a wonderful thing! Otherwise - I have lots of movies I downloaded at the library.. I get science books from the library too (my degree is in biochem - love science) I work on my van a lot- it's my home - I upgrade as much as I can.. Living in a van really forces you outside.. I love the woods and nature, though. So, I don't mind.. I try get near lakes and rivers hen I can - free showers HAH!... I write in my journey a lot - good for stress for sure.. Other than that - I'm chillen |
What do you eat? Do you keep food down easily? | Lots of cereal - lol. I don't have a problem eating at all. I like cold cuts a lot.. Cheese cheese and more cheese!!! I use too much mayonnaise when I'm wanted though - not healthy... Tomorrow I'm supposed to have homemade chili - I'm excited! |
While I do want you to seek help, I know that is not what you posted this AMA for. And you already got advice from other users who understand your situation much better than I do. So what kind of movies are you enjoying lately? | Downloaded cut versions of Ant man and avengers - Love marvel movies!! I do like strange ones like What we do In shadows - so silly... Downloaded Get Hard - not bad - not great... My favorites though - snatch - requiem for a dream - full metal jacket - one flew over the coucous(sp?) nest, fear and loathing in Las Vegas, locked stock and.. Stuff like that. |
Those are some pretty heavy favorite movies! I'm more into the escapism of fantasy and romance. My favorite movie is The Fifth Element, probably due to nostalgia. You said you had a degree in biochem. Have you worked in that field before? What was your dream job after finishing your degree and what is your dream job now? | I stole a bottle of wine and ran from the cops- theft charge w/obstruction. Had a DUI and two other obstruction jobs - chem companies won't hire me because of this - so far - still trying 4 years later.. I have volunteered at universities though. R&D are my dream jobs.. Love figuring things out.. Now - I'd like a job making more than 12 an hour that is nOT manual labor - or sitting on my ass... A lab job is my dream job jow. |
Ever see the movie "the voices"? | No? |
Might be the best thing for you. Changing shit up, getting out of a routine, might be your best option. You might just unlock that bubble you seem to have confined yourself to. It's a big world, see some shit. | Yes! I have been around though - Egypt, Hawaii, Virgin Islands, Canary Islands, Istanbul, Spain, Budapest, Vienna, Amsterdam... As I said earlier, my ex wife was well off. |
It's really good. It's a dark comedy with Ryan rends in it. | Nice! I love dark movies! I'll download it when I got a stable connection.. Thank you!! |
You can also easily get a job if that's all that's on your record. While I'm not a fan of meetings, I do recommend that OP tries them out. The support and connections alone may be worth it. | I am in no position to judge. However, I did those meetings. I have all my teeth - most of those I met did not. I don't like standing around holding hands and praying. Those meetings make me want to get drunk. Those people are like a cult. That's just my experience. |
How old were you when you had your first drink? | 17 - I was a late bloomer. I did everything at 17.. Sex-weed-extacy,acid,shrooms.. Seroiuously everything at 17. |
Your beer record? | I'm not sure? I drank four liters of vodka in 24 hours one time.. Don't remember it much. |
Did you try thinking about joining the military? I was navy and it isn't too bad. Bootcamp was a cake walk and 4 years went by fast. Just save your money and do not spend it on drinking! | I diffinantly thought about it!!! I cannot join the military because I have tried to commit suicide twice. I cannot pass the mental part of the medical exam. |
How many beers a day? | Right now I'm on my third 12 pack. |
Damn! What kind of beer? | Tonight it's PBR because it is cheap.. When I got money, I like a nice amber local. Honey brown is 1.00 for a 24oz - I get these a lot... If worse comes to worse - beast ice. |
How many beers can you drink in one day/night? | Endless? That's a hard question - I stopped counting |
Do you wake up and crack a ice cold beer? | Sometimes - usually it's a warm beer if that happens though - I preference to smoke weed in the morning.. Been too broke lately for that though. |
Ever fuck with Fireball? | I'm 32... I did when I was like 18... Heartburn city!!! Fun to try though... Like goldshloger... Just not good for the position I'm in.. |
Do you have health insurance? | Yes, I'm on medicaide. |
Why don't you go to rehab? It's a lot better then getting drunk in your van every night waiting to die. | How much does that cost? |
Would it help to talk to someone? Even someone on Reddit here. A friend is always nice. | That is what I'm doing now.,!? |
I mean in a more direct way. Instant messaging... Etc. | New to reddit - enlighten me. |
There are so many support subreddits too. stopdrinking is a good place to start. They understand all the pain, see through all the bullshit excuses, and can help you rebuild your life. | I'm too drunk for help, now. I'll check it put when I'm sober and desperate. |
Desperation isnt mandatory, but it can help fuel a desire. Please take care, good fellow, and i hope all ends well for you. As a fellow human being I have a vested interest in your life. | Thank you, my English professional, for your kind words. |
Please don't give up. I just got 6 years sober pm. | If only my life worked that way. |
Listen. It can. If you try. I drank a bottle of vodka a day. Completely sober now.. so much better in life. | You ever been homeless? |
I was a horrible drunk and doper. Over 2 years sober now. If I can do it anyone can. Sobriety is awesome, give it a shot! | I'm happy for you! It was nice when I was sober. Now I cannot even go one day. |
Yes and no. I made 80 k a year. Got caught selling drugs. Lost all friends sold house. G Ot divorced. She took almost everything. GOT sober . Slept on fathers couch for a year with a dog. NOT MY DOG. I can go on more detail. | Sucks.. I don't think I want to get better - I mean, it's a nice dream.. But I have said a million times I won't ever again - here I am - drunk.. At this point, all I have to say, ces't la vie. |
How good is your internet being homeless? | It's been pretty good lately. It's not hard to find access if you are looking. |
