Navigating DUI Checkpoints in Pensacola: A DUI Attorney's Insight
https://preview.redd.it/fabfvykg9n4b1.jpg?width=5000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5ba3ecb38d828c1e39e79a977cc8529c09063591
Summary:
  1. DUI checkpoints, also known as sobriety checkpoints or roadblocks, are legal in Florida and allow law enforcement officers to stop vehicles and check drivers for signs of intoxication.
  2. Law enforcement agencies must follow strict guidelines when conducting DUI checkpoints, including providing advance notice, using a predetermined selection process, and ensuring minimal intrusion.
  3. If stopped at a DUI checkpoint, drivers must comply with law enforcement officers' requests, such as providing identification.
  4. Drivers can avoid DUI checkpoints by staying informed about their locations and using alternative routes; however, they should not drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  5. If arrested at a DUI checkpoint, it's essential to contact a Pensacola DUI attorney to protect your rights and build a strong defense against the charges.
The Legality and Purpose of DUI Checkpoints in Pensacola
DUI checkpoints, also known as sobriety checkpoints or roadblocks, are a controversial yet legal method law enforcement officers use to identify and arrest impaired drivers in Florida. These checkpoints are set up at predetermined locations, allowing officers to stop vehicles and check drivers for signs of intoxication. The primary goal of DUI checkpoints is to deter drunk driving and reduce alcohol-related accidents.
Strict Guidelines for Conducting DUI Checkpoints: Ensuring Fairness and Constitutionality
Law enforcement agencies must adhere to strict guidelines when conducting DUI checkpoints to ensure they are constitutional and fair. Some of these guidelines include:
  • Providing advance notice of the checkpoint location and time, usually through local media or online platforms.
  • Using a predetermined, non-discriminatory selection process to determine which vehicles will be stopped.
  • Ensuring minimal intrusion on drivers by keeping the duration of the stop as brief as possible.
Your Rights and Responsibilities at a DUI Checkpoint: Knowing What to Expect
If you are stopped at a DUI checkpoint, knowing your rights and responsibilities is essential. You must comply with law enforcement officers' requests, such as providing your driver's license, registration, and proof of insurance. Officers may also ask you to participate in sobriety tests, such as a breathalyzer test or field sobriety tests. While you have the right to refuse these tests, it is best to discuss whether to do so with a Pensacola DUI criminal defense lawyer.
Avoiding DUI Checkpoints: Stay Informed and Plan Ahead
One way to avoid DUI checkpoints is by staying informed about their locations and using alternative routes. Law enforcement agencies typically publicize checkpoint locations and times in advance, allowing drivers to plan their routes accordingly. However, it's crucial to remember that avoiding a checkpoint should never be an excuse to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Arrested at a DUI Checkpoint? Contact a Pensacola DUI Attorney Immediately
If you are arrested at a DUI checkpoint, it's essential to contact a Pensacola DUI attorney as soon as possible. A skilled attorney can review the circumstances of the checkpoint, ensure your rights were not violated, and build a strong defense against the charges. Your attorney may be able to challenge the evidence, negotiate with the prosecution, and potentially have the charges reduced or dismissed.
FAQ
  1. Are DUI checkpoints legal in all states? No, DUI checkpoints are not legal in all states. While they are legal in Florida, some states have deemed them unconstitutional based on their state laws or constitutions.
  2. Can I turn around to avoid a DUI checkpoint? While it is not illegal to turn around and avoid a DUI checkpoint, doing so may draw attention to your vehicle, potentially leading to a traffic stop for another reason.
  3. What happens if I refuse a breathalyzer test at a DUI checkpoint? If you refuse a breathalyzer test at a DUI checkpoint, you may face immediate license suspension under Florida's implied consent law. Additionally, your refusal can be used as evidence against you in court. However, if the breathalyzer shows your blood alcohol is over.08, your license will also be automatically suspended. The results, just like the refusal, can be used as evidence against you in court.
  4. Can a DUI checkpoint lead to other charges or citations? Yes, a DUI checkpoint can lead to additional charges or citations if law enforcement officers discover violations such as driving with a suspended license, possession of drugs or drug paraphernalia, or outstanding warrants.
  5. How can a Pensacola DUI attorney help if I'm arrested at a DUI checkpoint? A Pensacola DUI attorney can help by reviewing the circumstances of the checkpoint, ensuring your rights were not violated, and building a solid defense against the charges. This may include challenging the evidence, negotiating with the prosecution, and potentially having the charges reduced or dismissed.
In conclusion, understanding the legality and purpose of DUI checkpoints, knowing your rights and responsibilities, and staying informed about checkpoint locations can help you navigate these situations more confidently. If you are arrested at a DUI checkpoint, contacting a skilled Pensacola DUI attorney is crucial to protect your rights and fight the charges effectively.

2023.06.07 19:23 SirRFI Research notes about Lenovo Legion 7 Gen 7 AMD 2022 (16ARHA7)

Here are my notes I gathered about Lenovo Legion 7 Gen 7 AMD 2022 (16ARHA7), aka AMD Advantage. Sharing them for future researchers like myself. Something useful is missing? Do tell.

Product pages

Unlike most brands, these actually have most information you may need: * Marketing page (lenovo.com)/len101g0017) - specs, ports, generic information * Product Specifications Reference (psref.lenovo.com) - specs in detail, exact model list, ports (other images) * Support page (pcsupport.lenovo.com) - software and drivers download, user manual and guides, parts, customer support (select your exact model - take it from PSREF)

Reviews

Possible configurations/variants

Aside from the above, most models vary in keyboard layout. See PSREF for details.

Notes on hardware and firmware

Keyboard layouts

Using exact model from PSREF, you can enter PC Support page and find how exact for the model exactly look like in Parts tab.

Hotkeys during boot

Function keys

① Windows: doesn't work without Lenovo Fn and Function Keys software
② Windows: requires Lenovo Vantage (Lenovo Legion Toolkit can use this shortcut for itself)
③ Linux: does not work out of the box as tested on Fedora 38 GNOME with kernel 6.3.5-200
④ Linux: does not work with Hybrid Mode OFF (dGPU only)
Official generic video

Linux support

Overall - pretty good. As shown in function key section - most of them work out of the box, as they are handled by firmware. This includes switching thermal mode, "RGB" (keyboard and other backlight) profiles, switching between them and changing brightness level. Project screen menu works, though there's no HUD/GUI for it and switches mode immediately, which may be inconvenient.
As tested on Fedora 38 GNOME with kernel 6.3.5-200, speakers, webcam, WiFi, Bluetooth works. Fingerprint reader does not work, at least out of the box. I came across mentions that speakers do not work for the slim variant.

2023.06.07 18:10 coloradogal1 Detailed 12-Day Luxe Itinerary & Review

Hi all -
Since this sub was so helpful while planning my trip, I wanted to share my detailed 12-day itinerary, pricing and reviews for a luxe Bali trip. I lived there for three months 15 years ago on a student budget, so wanted to go back and experience it a bit differently.
Driver: I worked with Kadek at Pemuteran Menjangan Bali Transport. His prices were higher than a lot of other drivers, but of the drivers I reached out to prior to departure he was most responsive, easy to work with and made a ton of itinerary suggestions. His costs included all entrance fees, hiking guides, fast boat arrangements, as well as some lunches. Even though he was the most expensive driver I talked to, not having to plan out logistics every day and just hop in the car made the premium guide costs absolutely worth it in my mind. You can find him on TripAdvisor with the business name above, or I’m happy to share his whatsapp in a DM.
I had zero interest in riding a motor bike there, and saw at least one accident and someone at the airport who very distinctly looked like he had been part of a motor bike accident. Ironically, when we got home to the US we overheard someone at breakfast also talking about their friend who was involved in a motor bike accident in Bali.
High Level Agenda:
Details:
Ubud Bisma Eight, $1,100 USD for 4 nights including airport transit
Hotel impressions: This was a perfect mid-range priced hotel, central to the city center so a great place to walk around from, and probably had our favorite breakfasts during our stay. The vibe was modern, great views from the rooms and infinity pool, wonderful service. Absolutely would stay again.
Day 1 - Arrival / transit day, landed at 7pm, checked in around 9pm Day 2 - Ubud city center We planned this day just to wander around Ubud, lunch at Kafe, window shopping, bought some fruit at the art market. We intentionally avoided making plans this day, since we knew we’d want to acclimate and just enjoy walking around town. Day 3 - East Bali Tour with Kadek - 900k IDR per person including lunch, admissions, snorkeling tour * Snorkeling in Padangbai - Great snorkeling at two different spots * Tirta Gangga - Spent about 30 minutes wandering around the gardens, sitting down, enjoying the scenery. * Tukad Cepung Waterfall - Be prepared for lots of stairs, very cool waterfalls, def a “stand in line to take your photo” kind of experience but overall there weren’t too many people there while we were so didn’t have to wait too long. * Gates of Heaven - We opted NOT to do this, since we weren’t very interested in standing in a long line just for a manufactured photo opportunity. Day 4 - Mt Batur hike 1,050k IDR per person (cost also included hot springs, but we ended up skipping and just going back to Ubud to relax at the pool after the hike). Got socked in with clouds for sunrise, but honestly watching the clouds roll by was almost as enjoyable as a brilliant sunrise would have been. Hike is strenuous but doable, and you definitely want to hire a guide, since we heard at least one person getting harassed for not hiring a guide. Mixed feels on this, but overall it comes down to “respect the local customs and economy” for me. We were done and back to the hotel by 11 or so, and spent the afternoon relaxing by the pool and napping. Day 5 - Sites in and around Ubud, 795k with Kadek covering all admissions * Goa Gajah - Really cool temple that’s worth checking out to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and old stone temple carvings. Since we did this first thing, we had the place to ourselves. Be sure to check out the caves tucked along the river. * Gunung Kawi Temple - If you only visit one temple, personally, I recommend this one. Lots of stairs but it is STUNNING and you just feel like you’re surrounded by nature and spirituality. Both this trip and when I lived there 15 years ago, it’s one of my favorite spots in all of Bali. * Tegalalang Rice Terrace - Cool to see, but definitely felt like too curated of an experience. Felt like an amusement park located in a rice terrace. * Checked into Mandapa around 2pm so we could enjoy the resort for the full afternoon
Mandapa Ritz Carlton - $1,700 USD for 2 nights
Hotel Impressions: Holy heck, if you have the ability to splurge, do not miss this resort. I have never felt so spoiled or relaxed in my life. The spa was incredible ($400 for 90 minutes couples massage), the free morning yoga overlooked the river, and the service was absolutely unparalleled. The team there would greet you by name, the attention to details with the room - it was absolute perfection and I don’t think I will ever enjoy a resort this much again. It’s a little more removed from city center, but the resort is so beautiful we didn’t really feel like leaving anyway.
Day 6 - Resort day. Yoga, breakfast, massages, pool day - After spending the previous several days doing day trips, we left this as a day to just spend time relaxing, and I’m so glad we did.
Day 7 - Transit from Ubud to Sanur, with shopping stops on the way (650k per person)
Mas (wood carving), Batuan Village (painting gallery), Celuk (gold and silver smith). We wanted to get to Sanur the day before our Nusa Penida trip so we didn’t have to worry about being in a rush to catch the fast boat to Nusa Penida, and I really wanted to do some shopping anyway so it worked out well.
Sanur Klumpu Resort for $158 - Really loved this small villa style resort. Funky architecture, a little less curated feeling than the other resorts we stayed at, and would make for a really great extended stay place close to Sanur beach.
Day 8 - Sanur beach and fast boat to Nusa Penida. Spent the morning walking the path along the beach, stopping for breakfast and coffee, and enjoying the vibes without having an itinerary. Caught one of the last boats to Nusa Penida so we could get there in time for the 3 pm check in at Maua Nusa Penida
Nusa Penida
Maua Nusa Penida - $500 USD for 2 nights. 1,450k IDR for fast boat, nusa penida transit to / from port and beach tour day trips, again all arranged by Kadek.
Hotel Impressions - Newer hotel in Nusa Penida that’s a bit far away from any action, but the hotel was so nice to spend time in we didn’t mind just hanging out there in our private pool and eating at some of their restaurants. They had a special Indonesian Buffet which was actually some of the best food we had there as far as taste and quality went.
Day 9 - Nusa Penida Beach Tour Spent the morning touring Angel Billabong, Broken Beach, Angel Billagong and lounging at Crystal Bay. The sites were absolutely stunning, got some good photos but the iconic beach spots were SO crowded that I’m not sure it was worth it. Crystal Bay was great - very few people at the beach, so this was a nice way to spend a couple hours swimming and enjoying the scenery. Spent the afternoon relaxing at the hotel.
Jimbaran Bay / Uluwatu
Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay, $2,400 USD for 2 nights
Hotel Impressions: We chose to end our visit to Bali here, closer to the airport. There’s a reason this is considered one of the best beach resorts in the world. The villas were older than Mandapa, but the gardens and views were just beautiful. We really enjoyed our time here relaxing, using their beach lounge facility, and wandering around the gardens. The food at Sundara was good - but not memorable. I’d probably stick to just cocktails and snacks there rather than doing a full higher end meal.
Day 10 - Morning transit from Nusa Penida to Four Seasons. The original plan had been to go to Uluwatu for the fire dance, but it was unfortunately sold out. This was a huge bummer since I’d really been looking forward to this part, but we went straight to the hotel and didn’t mind having the day to relax there.
Day 11 - Four seasons resort day
Day 12 - Departure. Spent the morning and afternoon lounging around the resort. Four Seasons were very generous with a 3pm check out, but were happy to let us use the facilities, spa, pools, etc as long as we wanted to since our flight wasn’t until 10pm.
What I loved * Mandapa. We only did two nights and we very strongly considered canceling our Sanur night and staying an extra day. Will absolutely be back for a longer stay. * Sanur - we only had one morning to mosey along the beach, but next time I go back, I would add in three days here with no plans other than just wandering around. It was also great staying at less of a resort and more of a boutique villa that was a great home base. * Gunung Kawi - I explored this temple the first time I was in Bali, and knew I needed to come back.
What I wish I’d done differently * More time just wandering. We did a great job planning out day trips and balancing those with resort days to just relax and decompress, which was a great balance. However, I do wish we’d had more time to just… wander. We had a couple days or mornings like this, and they ended up being some of our favorite days. * Nusa Penida - Maybe I would have liked this more if we actually snorkeled or went diving. I loved the hotel we stayed at, and I suppose I’m glad I’ve been, but the beach tours were just so crowded and spread apart. It was a long day for just a few minutes at each spot. Next time we return, I’m skipping Nusa Penida and would probably stick to Nusa Lembongon or Sanur.

Yesterday I logged on to SW just as I always do, and for some reason, I can't access the right click menu on my design tree. It worked fine the day before. However, if I move the Solidworks window from my main monitor to my laptop, it works. I have restarted, disabled and enabled the oem graphics card and nothing seems to work. Also tried switching between USB C and HDMI cables with no luck.
I am updating my NVIDIA card now to the latest driver from a week ago to see if that helps.

Summary: best (budget) gaming headsets 2023 according to reddit

Interestingly enough, most Redditors don't recommend going for a typical gaming headset by gaming brands (Razer, Logitech, Asus, Corsair) at all. The most recommended option isn't even a gaming headset, but a normal headset with an added mic.

  1. Sennheiser HD560S + wired - best sounding option with additional wired mic (usually around $150 + $20 for a mic)

2023.06.07 15:12 squire_pug Hopefully buying soon in AU

Got a no-obligation full refundable pre-order in at the Melbourne dealer. I see some mixed messaging, but having made the personal decision to go EV this car replacement cycle, i have tested the:
-BYD Atto3
-Volvo C40
but cant find a Kia/hyundai to even test drive and apparently delivery of these is LATE 2024 down under.
C40 is delivery Nov/Dec, Atto is 4-6 weeks apparently.
Dealer says as early as Oct for delivery, but maybe as lat as Nov.
Nothing in the US and Eu Solterra reviews really puts me off, range is more than enough for my suburban drive, charging speed is mild concern, but may not be an issue, and may be partially mitigated via software updates.
Been a Subaru driver for 15 years, Outback, Liberty and Levorg. So my I guess my question for subreddit is, how Toyota-ery is it? Is it still a Subaru AWD feel? I'm used to really good handling, and not that much of a speed fiend.
Does the black plastic interior wear badly?
Anything else I should know about?

2023.06.07 13:44 jacobscott854 6 TIPS FOR ACCOUNTING FIRMS TO ATTRACT & RETAIN TALENT

In recent years, businesses such as accounting and CPA firms (https://www.entigrity.com/) that are heavily reliant on skilled professionals have faced significant challenges in attracting and retaining talent. The consequences of talent shortages are straightforward but impactful: they impede business growth. According to PwC, approximately 25% of CEOs have had to cancel or postpone critical strategic initiatives in the past year due to a lack of qualified personnel.
Fortunately, there is time to address this issue proactively. Let's explore a few strategies firm owners can employ to navigate the skills shortage and benefit their businesses and financial performance.
**An overview of the worldwide shortage of accounting talent:**
There is a notable global talent shortage, which has reached its highest level in 16 years across various industries. The ongoing phenomenon known as the "Great Resignation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Resignation)" shows no signs of slowing down.
The ManpowerGroup's (https://workforce-resources.manpowergroup.com/accelerate-your-talent-strategy/q3-2022-employment-outlook-survey) 2022 Global Talent Shortage Survey has identified the most challenging skills to find in today's job market, and it reveals that accounting and finance positions (such as certified accountants, auditors, and financial analysts) rank among the top seven most challenging roles to fill globally. Moreover, these roles are anticipated to be the second-most in-demand positions in over 40 countries in the upcoming quarters.
**The origins of this talent shortage can be attributed to two primary factors**
The two primary drivers affecting the talent shortage in the accounting industry are: **technological advancements** and **evolving needs**.
**1. Technological Advancements:**
In the past, the primary requirement for accounting firms was the ability to perform numerical calculations. However, with technological advancements, this requirement has evolved. Today, applications and automation can process numbers significantly faster than any human worker.
Consequently, accounting firms are now seeking candidates who possess a greater ability to derive meaning, identify trends, and detect patterns in data. Moreover, these candidates should be able to apply their findings within a broader business context.
This shift in demand highlights the increasing importance of data science and analytics skills, which accounting professionals may have yet to develop extensively due to limited time and resources.
**2. Evolving Needs:**
In today's job market, candidates have clear preferences regarding their desired positions. While competitive compensation and benefits are undoubtedly important factors, the findings of the Manpower (https://web.manpowergroup.ca/hubfs/Campaign%20or%20Program-Specific%20Assets/MPG%20-%20Talent%20Shortage/manpowergroup-2020-canada-talent-shortage-report.pdf?hsLang=en-ca)survey indicate that candidates are more likely to accept a job offer and remain committed if the role also provides flexibility, a sense of purpose, and personalized opportunities.
Additionally, candidates value access to career insights, educational support, diverse experiences, and exposure to new opportunities as significant considerations in their decision-making process.
Indeed, it is possible to address the talent shortage by understanding employee needs and effectively meeting them. By doing so, accounting firms can combat the loss of valuable talent and gain an advantage in the ongoing competition for skilled professionals. While finding a balance may require compromises, the long-term benefits are rewarding.
**1. Objective:**
To provide employees with a meaningful sense of purpose, being transparent and genuine about your organization's mission is essential. Clearly communicate this mission on your website, through marketing materials, and during candidate interviews.
**2. Upskilling/Training:**
According to the Manpower (https://workforce-resources.manpowergroup.com/accelerate-your-talent-strategy/q3-2022-employment-outlook-survey)survey, *“81% of employees expect training programs from their employers to help keep skills up to date”*. Meeting this expectation increases the likelihood of retaining employees in the long term, providing your firm with greater confidence in retaining the skills it has invested in through training and development.
**3. Adaptability:**
In 2020, a significant shift towards remote work took place, leading professionals to recognize the time saved from commuting and the increased autonomy over their schedules. Candidates are expected to inquire about job flexibility during interviews, seeking a clear response that can ideally meet the needs of both parties involved. Therefore, it is crucial to have a well-prepared response that can address these inquiries and satisfy the mutual requirements.
**4. Company ethos:**
Take a moment to contemplate how outsiders perceive your firm. If you were to assess it objectively, what would your conclusion be? The stereotype of buttoned-up professionals often characterizes how accounting firms are viewed.
While elements of formality may still exist in many firms, the importance of image must be considered in a highly competitive market. It is crucial to tailor your firm's image and proudly display your brand, effectively conveying the authentic experience of working within your organization. This approach allows you to differentiate yourself and attract top talent.
Employees are no longer just working for a 9-5 paycheck. They want to work with a brand that they believe in. Understanding how to make the most of your brand can make the difference when it comes to attracting and retaining team members.
**5. Feedback:**
Recognize the significant impact of offering regular feedback to your staff, as it holds great importance to them. People have a natural desire to be heard and acknowledged. According to ClearCompany (https://blog.clearcompany.com/mind-blowing-statistics-performance-reviews-employee-engagement), global talent management specialists, employees who receive regular feedback and performance reviews become up to three times more engaged in their company. Furthermore, their survey reveals that engaged individuals are 87% less likely to leave the organization. Hence, prioritizing regular feedback can enhance employee engagement and significantly reduce turnover rates.
**6. Offshore accounting:**

Introduction
Rajasthan, often referred to as the "Land of Kings," is a captivating state in India known for its rich history, majestic forts, vibrant culture, and stunning landscapes. Exploring this royal land can be an unforgettable experience, and one of the best ways to navigate its vast territory is by hiring a taxi service. In this comprehensive guide, we will delve into the advantages of using a taxi service for travelling in Rajasthan, highlight the must-visit destinations, discuss the best time to visit, and provide essential tips for a hassle-free journey.
Advantages of Using a Taxi Service in Rajasthan
  1. Flexibility and Convenience: One of the significant advantages of opting for a taxi service in Rajasthan is the flexibility it offers. With a taxi, you have the freedom to explore at your own pace, choose your destinations, and modify your itinerary according to your preferences. Taxis provide door-to-door service, ensuring a hassle-free and convenient travel experience.
  2. Local Expertise: Taxi drivers in Rajasthan are often locals who possess in-depth knowledge of the region. They can serve as valuable guides, offering insights into the historical significance, cultural nuances, and hidden gems of each destination. Their familiarity with the local language and customs can also be beneficial during your journey.
  3. Comfortable and Safe: Taxis in Rajasthan are well-maintained, air-conditioned vehicles that provide a comfortable and safe mode of transportation. This is especially important when travelling long distances between cities or exploring remote areas. Taxi services employ professional drivers who are experienced in navigating the region's roads, ensuring a smooth and secure journey.
  4. Cost-effective for Group Travel: If you are travelling with a group or family, hiring a taxi can be a cost-effective option. Instead of booking multiple tickets for public transportation or arranging separate private vehicles, a taxi service allows you to share the expenses among the group, making it an economical choice.
Must-Visit Destinations in Rajasthan
  1. Jaipur: The capital city of Rajasthan, Jaipur, also known as the "Pink City," is a must-visit destination. It is renowned for its magnificent forts, including the iconic Amer Fort and Jaigarh Fort, as well as the enchanting Hawa Mahal and the City Palace. Don't miss exploring the vibrant markets of Jaipur, such as Johri Bazaar and Bapu Bazaar, where you can shop for traditional handicrafts, textiles, and jewellery. Book a Taxi service in Jaipur.
  2. Udaipur: Often called the "Venice of the East," Udaipur is famous for its picturesque lakes, majestic palaces, and romantic ambiance. The Lake Palace, situated in the middle of Lake Pichola, is a sight to behold. Other attractions include the City Palace, Jag Mandir, Saheliyon ki Bari, and the mesmerising sunset views from the Sajjangarh Palace, also known as the Monsoon Palace. Explore the vibrant attractions of the Udaipur city with a taxi service in Udaipur or a taxi service in Jaisalmer.
  3. Jodhpur: Known as the "Blue City" due to its vibrant blue-painted houses, Jodhpur is home to the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort, one of the largest forts in India. The city also offers attractions like Jaswant Thada, Umaid Bhawan Palace, and the bustling Sardar Market, where you can indulge in shopping for textiles, handicrafts, and spices. Book a Taxi service in Jodhpur or a Tempo traveller hire in Jodhpur to explore all the attractions of the city.
  4. Pushkar: Situated around the sacred Pushkar Lake, Pushkar is a prominent pilgrimage site and is famous for its annual camel fair. The town is home to the Brahma Temple, one of the few temples dedicated to Lord Brahma, as well as several ghats and vibrant markets. Don't forget to witness the mesmerizing evening Aarti (prayer ceremony) at the lake.
Best Time to Visit Rajasthan
Rajasthan experiences extreme climatic conditions, with scorching summers and chilly winters. The ideal time to visit is during the winter months, from October to March when the weather is pleasant and suitable for outdoor exploration. This period also coincides with various festivals and events celebrated in the state, offering a chance to witness the vibrant cultural heritage of Rajasthan.
Essential Tips for a Hassle-Free Journey
  1. Plan your Itinerary: Before embarking on your journey, plan your itinerary carefully, considering the distances between destinations and the time required to explore each place. Discuss your preferences with the taxi service provider to ensure they accommodate your travel plans.
  2. Research and Book in Advance: Research different taxi service providers in Rajasthan, read reviews, and compare prices. Booking in advance ensures you have a reliable taxi service waiting for you upon arrival.
  3. Communication: While taxi drivers in Rajasthan often understand and speak basic English, it is helpful to carry a phrasebook or translator app to communicate effectively. Learning a few common Hindi phrases can also be beneficial.
  4. Stay Hydrated and Carry Snacks: Rajasthan's climate can be harsh, so it is essential to stay hydrated during your travels. Carry a water bottle and some snacks for the journey, especially if you plan to visit remote areas where food options may be limited.
  5. Respect Local Customs: Rajasthan is deeply rooted in culture and traditions. Respect the local customs, dress modestly, and be mindful of religious sites and practices. Seek permission before taking photographs, particularly of people, and be aware of any restrictions.
Conclusion
Travelling in Rajasthan with a taxi service provides the flexibility, convenience, and local expertise required to explore this enchanting state. From the grand forts of Jaipur to the romantic lakes of Udaipur and the vibrant markets of Jodhpur, Rajasthan offers a myriad of experiences that can be best enjoyed with a reliable taxi service. Remember to plan your itinerary, book in advance, and be respectful of the local customs. With these tips in mind, embark on your journey to Rajasthan, and immerse yourself in the rich heritage and royal grandeur of this captivating land.

What Is The Worst Car Brand?

https://preview.redd.it/noa1ryl1wk4b1.jpg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=19eb7f029f36d27e4a7564d9a98672acb2c2ab89
Selecting a reliable vehicle can be a tricky journey, but knowing what the worst car brand is can help a lot. There’s only so much you can learn from reading the lists of best models. Sometimes it’s better to filter out those manufacturers that simply aren’t worth your money and energy.
Knowing the reputation of a brand is essential if you want to avoid the title of the “worst drivers by car brand”. None of us want to get featured in those and, trust me, you might still end up there even if you’re the best driver the earth has ever seen.
Today we’ll see which brands fail to deliver the performance we expected and what you should know to select a reliable model.

WHAT IS THE WORST CAR BRAND PRODUCED IN JAPAN?

4 worst releases from Japanese manufacturers

It’s really hard to name the worst car brand ever when it comes to the Japanese market. Their vehicles usually rank high on consumer reports, making it difficult to bash Japanese manufacturers. However, we can still talk about certain brands that have released poorly performing cars.

2019 Infiniti QX30

Infiniti vehicles are abundant on the lists of worst vehicles. For some reason, their newer releases fail to meet our expectations. Their QX30 leaves a lot to be desired – it’s not as good as its cheaper competitors. Plus, it doesn’t offer anything new – you’d probably get the same deal if you went for an older model.

2019 Nissan Sentra

2019 Nissan Sentra is quite overpriced, to say the least. It doesn’t have anything exciting to force us to forget about its poor performance. Driving it is a dreadful experience since the interior is quite cheap both in terms of looks and feel.

2019 Infiniti Q70

2019 Infiniti Q70 isn’t any better. Even though it’s priced and marketed as a luxury vehicle, it fails to deliver the performance and comfort we expect from a higher range. You can get far better models for less money.

2019 Mitsubishi Mirage

2019 Mitsubishi Mirage scores quite poorly on reliability scores. It’s quite affordable and fuel-efficient, yet it won’t last you long enough to appreciate those features. It doesn’t have any improvements from previous models either.
What is the worst brand of car to buy new? – I’d say Infiniti. Their newer models are a waste of money. Japanese manufacturers have a lot to offer and that’s exactly why we judge these vehicles so strictly. The bar is too high to turn a blind eye on such poor releases.

WHAT IS THE WORST CAR BRAND PRODUCED IN GERMAN?

https://preview.redd.it/di6457m3wk4b1.jpg?width=1980&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c4e0c2e067e4cd6368f11559918bf96f35a8ab15
Commonly known for durability, certain German manufacturers have low reliability scores, including Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz, and Porsche. Even though these brands have some outstanding vehicles, many of their models are failing in terms of safety.

Volkswagen

I can’t say that Volkswagen is the worst car brand on earth, yet their vehicles fall short of performance. Some of their models are costly as they reveal quite a few problems. There are some advices on how to increase car mileage and reduce fuel costs. Overall, consumers aren’t that happy with VW.

Audi

Surprisingly, Audi doesn’t have high reliability scores. Some of their models are absolutely breathtaking, while others leave a lot to be desired. There are some tips and tricks that you can take into account to increase car mileage. However, such in consistency is the very reason why this brand is often listed among the worst manufacturers.

BMW

Another German brand that doesn’t meet the consumers’ expectations is BMW. Their cars are often judged because they aren’t reliable. I’m not saying that all of their models are horrible – I’m just saying that some of their vehicles don’t deliver the quality we want from a German manufacturer.

Mercedes Benz

The users of Mercedes Benz have reported quite a few problems as well. You’ll certainly have a luxury experience with their cars, yet they won’t be as durable as vehicles from Lexus or Subaru.

Porsche

Porsche is probably the worst car brand for safety. If you buy their car, you’ll likely have to face a lot of problems. The repairs will be pricey, which is why you need to think carefully before you go for their vehicle.
German cars also have high depreciation rates which is another reason why they aren’t the best investment.
While we’re talking about German cars, it’s worth noting that the worst Italian car brand is Alfa Romeo. Their vehicles tend to result in high repair costs. However, you can review some tips and tricks that help you to take good care of your car and make your car last longer.

WHAT CAR BRAND DRIVES THE WORST MOTORISTS?

The manufacturers that attract the worst drivers are plenty but the ones that stand out are the Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Range Rover, and VW. We don’t judge anyone personally, yet these cars tend to attract the most annoying drivers.

Audi

If you want to experience an uncontrollable rage, you should drive next to an Audi. They host pretentious drivers who get out of their way to show off their vehicles. They might not cause that many accidents but they surely will force you to scold them with your glance.

BMW

For some reason, BMW drivers tend to believe they rule the world. They forget all the signs and drive as if the roads were in their possession. Their driving habits will surely drive you nuts.

Mercedes Benz

Mercedes Benz cars are luxurious yet we can’t say the same about their drivers. Just because you own a Mercedes doesn’t mean you should drive like a moron. For some reason, the owners of this brand are among the most obnoxious drivers.

Range Rover

To be fair, not all of the Range Rover drivers are annoying. If you bought an off-road to drive in the city, congratulations, you’re probably one of the worst drivers. Cars have labels for a reason and an off-road doesn’t belong on busy city streets.

Volkswagen

Volkswagen drivers are annoying not because they don’t know how to drive, but because they still believe they own a BMW. If you look out the window and wonder “who drives like that”, I’m guessing you’re next to a VW. They always want to be in the first row and do their best to squeeze themselves even on the busiest streets.

HOW TO CHOOSE A RELIABLE CAR?

https://preview.redd.it/8l81nx66wk4b1.jpg?width=1980&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b87fdd79ab1c0094d21c8aea9f89b50a51f7e3fb
If you want to steer away from the worst reliable car brand and instead purchase a durable vehicle, you should do your research carefully. The only way to buy a reliable car is to spend hours reading reviews and reports. You can use the following steps as a guide.

Check out reliability scores

The first thing you should do is to examine reliability scores. J.D Power and Consumer Reports release information about vehicles every year. They rate cars depending on their category and always explore dependability, safety, and performance in their research.

Read consumers’ reviews

But it’s also important to read other people’s reviews. That way, you’ll understand what problems they had and why. Their experience will help you purchase a car that will stay by your side for a long time.

Don’t get fooled by marketing

Worst drivers by car brand purchase vehicles because of amazing marketing campaigns. That’s one of the reasons why they are so annoying on the roads. If you don’t want to be among them, you should always double-check the information you see in those ads. Once again, reading reviews and consumer reports is the key.

Don’t fall for dealers’ suggestions

Certain salespeople earn their commissions based on the cars they sell. For example, they will get more if they sell BMW instead of Toyota. They might tell you that a certain vehicle has the most innovative speaker system. They might hype up the car just to crank up the value. I’m not saying that all salespeople are lying – I’m just saying that you shouldn’t trust their suggestions blindfolded.

FINAL TAKEAWAY

Even though the brands we discussed don’t have the highest reliability scores, it doesn’t mean we should refuse to buy every vehicle they release. All of them have great models that will prove their worth over time.
As you can see, it’s not difficult to label a manufacturer as the worst car brand. What’s difficult is to find a car that is worth your money. You should remember that you can find great cars among Japanese, British, Italian, or German manufacturers – you simply have to have a model-based approach.
Don’t buy the vehicles from top brands – purchase a car that scores high on reliability ratings. Examine resale value, look for answers online, and don’t judge cars by their brands.

2023.06.07 11:26 Proastandtoast Van Life Chronicles: Exploring Iceland for Three Weeks

This sub has been an incredible source of information and inspiration, so I gave myself an hour to write down and share some insights from the recent three-week road trip I’ve had with my partner.
General remarks:
- Our main goal was to enjoy nature, so we were okay with spending absolutely no time on the golden circle or in Reykjavik. Due to the weather, we ended up doing both anyway; but these would be the parts of the trip I would skip first. Coming from continental Europe, we had almost no jetlag and could safely start directly with our journey. With more jet lag, some more time to adapt is definitely a good idea.
- We rented a 2WD campervan from Star Car Rental and spent all but the final night on campsites. Our experience with Star Car was very good. The price was competitive and included unlimited mileage, additional driver and all necessary utensils (chairs, table, cooking stuff). We got picked up from the airport and were ready to go within 15’. When giving back the car, we got driven to our hotel without any inspection (we did have zero excess insurance).
- Mid-May to beginning of June was a very nice time to travel. The days are long (I’ve seen no darkness), almost all camping places are open, but the crowds at the highlights are small – except for the big boys in the south.
- We started our days quite early and therefore typically arrived during the afternoon at the campsites. The kitchen area, showers and laundry spaces were often free to use. Be prepared to go to campsites that have only 2 stoves and 1 shower. During prime time, expect some waiting times.
- We picked up around 100 € worth of cash – two campsites were cash-only, everything else was absolutely card-first / cash-free.
Useful ressources:
- Vedur and Safetravel: This sub is absolutely right. Learn how to read and anticipate the weather before you get there. We were there during two yellow warnings and these things are really no joke. It helps to have plenty of time to spontaneously adapt the schedule. And we’ve seen it all: blizzard in the West, hail up North, storm in the East and sun in the South.
- Google reviews & park4night: These were pretty accurate for the campsites. 4+ stars are no-brainers, 3+ depend on your needs (kitchen, shower, electricity) and less than 3 should be avoided. Also, remember to rate them yourself during/after your trip to increase the statistical significance ;)
- Google Maps/MyMaps: MyMaps was useful during our planning to fill with random highlights (waterfalls, hotpots, hikes, campsites) and to set up a rough itinerary. Google Maps is accurate on paved roads. On gravel roads, expect some significant delays. Maps calculates with 80 km/h, while you will probably never exceed 50 km/h. In the Westfjords, we guess-timated our times with 2 minutes per kilometer on the gravel roads. The Happy Campers Campsite Map as well as the Hot Pot Iceland Map were nice to have in the back-pocket to check with some time to spare whether something is close by.
- Polarsteps: This was a cute little App, which we used to keep family and friends informed. You can add pictures and some text to your highlights. This way, you don’t send the same picture into various chats and there is a location- and time-dependent context.
Cost: This is the per-person cost breakdown for our 21-day trip (20-day camper rental, 1 hotel stay, total 3’500€).
- Rental (zero excess insurance, additional driver): 1’135 €
- Flight (from continental Europe): 700 €
- Activities (Pools, Spas, Horse-riding, Kayak): 300 €
- Camping (pretty consistent 2’000 +- 500 ISK p.P.): 275 €
- Groceries (Bonus, Kronan, Netto): 255 €
- Coffee, Beers, Food in Restaurants: 260 €
- Petrol (420 € in total for roughly 3’600 km): 210 €
- Souvenirs: 180 €
- Ferries (into Westfjords and to Westman Islands): 95 €
- Hotel: 75 €
Highlights:
- Sundlaug and Spas: When camping in small towns, very often there will be a swimming pool close by. They are not expensive (around 1000 ISK pP) and a great way to relax after a long day. Also, it feels nice to take longer, hot showers without knowing people are waiting in line. We decided to go for some smaller premium spas and were very happy with all of them: Krauma was one of our first stops, the Forest Lagoon was incredible during evening hours and GeoSea was also fantastic. Re: nudity. It takes a bit to get used to, but its very refreshing to see this very open approach to nudity in the pools. No one cares, no one watches – just do your thing. It’s cool to see groups of friends at all age groups be so open about it. Certainly very different compared to continental Europe.
- As we had to skip the Eastfjords a bit due to storm, we had some time left at the end. We spent the last 3 nights on the Westman Islands. It was great to leave the car for a longer while and do everything by foot. There are plenty of things to do and the swimming pool is fantastic.
- Mulagljufur: Use Google Maps to find the exact location, as of now, there is no sign along the road. The canyon is very beautiful and we ended up hiking for almost three hours. Couldn’t get enough of the views.
- Glymur: The infamous log wasn’t placed when we were there, but the short hike to the cave and towards the canyon was absolutely worth it.
- Camping highlights: Melanes campsite at Raudasandur beach (Westfjords): incredible scenery, wild drive to get there; Thingeyri campsite (Westfjords): directly at the fjord, fantastic infrastructure (probably the best kitchen we’ve had) and IMHO a great alternative to the Tungudalur campsite in Isafjordur; 66.12 N campsite (near Husavik): insane ocean view, good infrastructure, one of the best sites along the diamond circle; Glamping&Camping (Westmann Islands): beautiful setting, good infrastructure.
Itinerary (Highlights: *, ** or ***)
Day 1: Arrival at KEF during the afternoon in pouring rain, set up campervan, first grocery stops at Bonus and Kronan, Dinner at Issi’s Fish&Chips*, Camp at Hjalli Kjos
Day 2: Glymur hike** (up to river, no log), Krauma Spa**, scenic drive into Snaefellsnes, Camp at Freezer Hostel
Day 3: Check out Snaefellsnes highlights, get to Stykkisholmur in the afternoon, Ferry Baldur to Brjanslaekur, Hellulaug hotpot*, drive to Melanes campsite*** on Raudasandur beach
Day 4: full day at Raudasandur, great hikes, another night at Melanes campsite.
Day 5: Long drive through westfjords. Highlights included the self-service fish station in Talknafjordur (amazing fisk bollur**), Dynjandi waterfall and Sandfell hike. Camping at Thingeyri*, relax in local swimming pool
Day 6: drive to Isafjordur, check out city (kind of underwhelming, but it was a national holiday; the brewery is nice), do some small hikes in the area. Camp at Tungudalur.
Day 7: very long drive out of westfjords towards Varmahlid. Hot dog stop in Holmavik and arrive at Lambeyri campsite (cash only)
Day 8: woke up with dead battery, but got jump start by campsite owner. Horseriding tour at Lytingsstadir* was very nice, drive to Akureyri, visit Forest Lagoon**. It was Saturday night when we visited, upon leaving we had police checking every driver for alcohol – so better hold off the pool-side bar ;) wanted to camp at Vaglaskogur but campsite wasn’t open. Went up until the CJA campsite in Laugar with a late-night stop at Godafoss (around 10pm, were the only people there)
Day 9: check out Myvatn area: Dimmuborgir hike, Hverir, Leirhnjukur hike**. Then continue to Dettifoss and camp at Asbyrgi. Late night hike to Asbyrgi ‘island’*.
Day 10: Hike in Asbyrgi canyon, continue to Husavik, visit GeoSea**, camp at 66.12N***
Day 11: long drive with very strong winds. We had to go back to Akureyri (optician to fix broken glasses), so went through Myvatn again with a quick stop at Grjotagja. Beautiful drive, weather was too bad for Studlagil canyon, so we continued all the way to Borgarfjordur eystri. Crazy winds during the night and we were happy that our car didn’t get blown away.
Day 12: unfortunately, no hikes in this beautiful area. Waited for storm to pass until lunchtime, visited harbor with puffins**, drive to Egilsstadir (hot dog stop), continue to Seydisfjordur (kind of underwhelming town, the drive is gorgeous though) and, due to weather forecast, continue all the way to Djupivogur campsite.
Day 13: Incredible drive from Djupivogur to Höfn, stops at Hvalnes and Jökulsarlon. Hike at Mulagljufur***, camp at Svenifell.
Day 14: early-morning hike in Skaftafell**, continue to Kirjubaersklausur for campsite. Had to skip Fjardrargljufur due to weather, visited local swimming pool.
Day 15: yellow warning again. Continued to Vik for Skool Beans Coffee*, quick stop at Reynisfjara beach (red alert was on, so we didn’t go further than the sign), continue to Skogarfoss and hike part of Fimmvorduhals*, camp in Selfoss – swimming pool was closed unfortunately.
Day 16: Weather forecast was very bad, so we spent the day in Reykjavik. Walked around town, grabbed some coffees and visiting the local Sundhöll*. Camp at Mosskogar** (cash-only)
Day 17: Golden circle: hike at Thingvellir, look at Geysir, skipped Delfoss. Camp in Selfoss again.
Day 18: quick stop at Seljalandsfoss, ferry to Westman islands. Set up camp at Glamping&Camping** for the next 3 nights. Visited Brothers Brewery*.
Day 19: Kayak tour with Kayak-and-Puffins-company***. Visited local swimming pool* (trampoline slide was very nice) and watched a local handball game.
Day 20: Hike along volcanoes and coast**, visit brewery again, go to puffin bay**
Day 21: Ferry back to mainland. Drive back towards KEF. Drop-off campervan and spent night in Konvin Hotel. Early morning shuttle to airport (we arrived about 2h early for our 7 am flight and had plenty of time).
Of course, I’m very happy to answer any questions you might have!
Hope this is helpful to some of you :)
