NUMBER 10: Plaza del Zócalo Officially called Plaza de la Constitución and nicknamed Zócalo, Mexico City’s main square has been a meeting place for Mexicans since the Aztec times. People gather there for ceremonies, royal proclamations, military parades, and even national protests. The site was the main ceremonial center in the pre-Columbian Mexico City called Tenochtitlan. This large and well-developed city-state was built on the island of Lake Texcoco together with another city - Tlatelolco. According to Aztec mythology, it was considered the center of the universe. The nickname Zócalo means "pedestal" or "plinth." A monument to the Mexican independence was planned to be built here but only the base to support the statue called Zócalo was built. The plinth is no longer there, but the name has lived on. You won’t, however, be able to miss a giant Mexican flag placed in the center of the square. Zócalo is home to several important buildings, including the National Palace, the seat of the Mexican government, and the largest Cathedral in Latin America – Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral, built in segments from 1573 to 1813 around the original church built atop the former Aztec Templo Mayor. While you're in the area, watch Aztec dancers next to the Cathedral that uses inspiration from ancient rituals and traditional dance just outside the cathedral.
NUMBER 9: Templo Mayor Located right next to Zócalo, Templo Mayor or Greater Temple is a vast complex of ruins of religious and civic buildings from the Aztec times. Templo Mayor was the main Temple of the rulers of the Aztec Empire – the Mexica people in their capital city of Tenochtitlan, or what is today known as Mexico City. According to Aztec mythology, the Aztec God of Sun and War Huitzilopochtli ordered his people to establish a new capital in a place where an eagle sits on a cactus, devouring a snake. The seal of the Mexican government represents this legend from Aztec mythology. That legendary location turned out to be a place covered by wetlands. The Temple was built on an island in the 14th century and was destroyed after the Spanish Conquests in the 16th century. The ruins of the temple's exact location was later forgotten, and the excavations was carried out at the end of the 19th century and some parts even in the late 20th century. Visit Templo Mayor Museum, a part of UNESCO World Heritage that showcases archaeological finds and exhibits related to the Aztec civilization. Or if you don’t have time, see the temple from the street above. Don’t skip a disturbing Skull Rack displaying hundreds of stone skulls representing the sacrificial victims to honor the gods and the power of the empire.
NUMBER 8: Xochimilco Xochimilco was the most important city of the Xochimilca people, who first settled in around 900 BC up until it was conquered by the Mexica of Tenochtitlan in the 15th century. Xochimilco is best known for a vast system of around 170 kilometers or 110 mi. of canals, famous for its colorful gondola-like boats called trajineras. Canals of Xochimilco are one of the last traces of a vast water transport system built by the Aztecs. These canals were a part of a massive lake and canal system that connected most of the settlements in the Valley of Mexico. Both canals and the chinampa system of Xochimilco are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The name Xochimilco means "flower field” and describes flowers and other crops grown here. The vegetables, fruits, and flowers were shipped to Tenochtitlan via the canal.
NUMBER 7: Street Food Mexico City's culinary scene offers a wide variety of food options, from affordable street food or antojitos (street snacks or appetizers) to gourmet international and local restaurants. Experience Mexican life through a variety of street food. Try some of the following options: tacos, quesadillas, tamales, chicharrón, machetes, delicious churros, or elotes - a, Mexican street corn topped with mayonnaise, chili powder and others. And if you are up to a challenge, even chapulines or grasshoppers. Don’t skip several important food and artisan markets spread throughout Mexico City, like Mercado de Coyoacán, etc.
NUMBER 6: Torre Latinoamericana Torre Latinoamericana or Latin American Tower, completed in 1956, is a skyscraper in the historic city center of Mexico City. This 166 m or 545 ft high building is one of the city's important architectural attractions was the tallest structure in Mexico until it was surpassed by Torre Ejecutiva Pemex. It is the world's first major skyscraper successfully built on a highly active seismic zone. Torre Latinoamericana survived the 8.1 magnitude earthquake in Mexico City in 1985. Other buildings in downtown were severely damaged. The tower's observation area Mirador Torre Latino offers some of the best panoramic views of Mexico City. Don’t forget to explore Madero Street right below Torre Latinoamericana, a popular and crowded pedestrian area featuring bars, shops, and other attractions. NUMBER 5: Coyoacán Coyoacán is a bohemian neighborhood located south of the city center. Covered with cobblestone streets and known for its colonial architecture, the name actually derives from the Aztec language, meaning "place of coyotes." The area was used as a headquarters during the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire. Coyoacán was the first capital of New Spain. The areas offers many activities and attractions, such as: La Casa Azul, a historic house and an art museum where Mexican artist Frida Kahlo was born and later lived with her husband, Diego Rivera. Mercado de Coyoacán: a traditional market famous for its colors and folklore, selling everything from clothing, plants to various food options and more. Plaza Hidalgo and Jardín Centenario full of colonial landmarks, bars, restaurants, Fuente de los Coyotes, Parroquia San Juan Bautista, beautiful Tranvía Coyoacán and other attractions. Or Plaza de la Conchita with the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception Church, the oldest church in Mexico. NUMBER 4: Bosque de Chapultepec The Chapultepec Forest is one of the oldest urban parks in the world and one of the largest city parks in the Western Hemisphere. Chapultepec functions as the lungs providing oxygen to the Mexico Valley. In the pre-Columbian era, the forest was also a popular retreat for Aztec rulers. The most popular section of Chapultepec is home to popular attractions and activities, including the Museum of Anthropology, botanic garden, a zoo, and an artificial lake. Here, you can rent a boat and enjoy the escape from the busy city streets. There are two other lakes in the second section of the park. Don't skip Chapultepec Castle or The National Museum of History, built in the colonial period. The castle official residence of Mexican heads of state until 1940. It is located at the top of Chapultepec Hill, with amazing views towards Paseo de la Reforma and the rest of the city. Chapultepec served as an important water management system in the pre-Columbian era, featuring an Aztec-built ancient aqueduct. Did you know that the name Chapultepec derives from the Aztec language and translates as Hill of the Grasshopper. Check our travel guide for more beautiful parks suggestions, like an impressive Alameda Central right next to the Palace of the Fine Arts.
NUMBER 3: Museum of Anthropology National Museum of Anthropology is the most visited museum in Mexico, offering the world's most extensive collection of ancient Mexican art, important archaeological and anthropological objects from Mexico's pre-Columbian heritage, like the Stone of the Sun (or the Aztec calendar stone) created in the 16th century. You can walk around the 23 permanent exhibit halls representing the colors and materials related to Teotihuacan, Olmeca, and Maya cultures. Don’t skip the stunning outdoor part of the museum. The building was designed by the architect Pedro Ramirez Vazquez, who also designed other important buildings in Mexico City, like Basilica de Guadalupe or Estadio Azteca. There are many other fascinating museums in Mexico City. Don't skip Voladores De Papantla or Flying Men – an ancient Mesoamerican ritual to ask God to end a severe drought in Tamayo Park close to the museum. NUMBER 2: Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe Basílica de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe is a Roman Catholic church, basilica, and National shrine of Mexico and one of the most important pilgrimage sites of Catholicism. The present church was constructed on an earlier 16th-century church finished in 1709 due to its dangerous sinking foundation, the Old Basilica. The new basilica houses the cloak containing the images of Our Lady of Guadalupe, one of the most important symbols of Mexican faith, based on a series of Marian apparitions in 1531. The basilica is visited by millions of people every year, making it the most visited Catholic shrine in the world. Don't skip the impressive and stunningly landscaped Sagrado Recinto del Tepeyac Garden and explore other impressive sites.
NUMBER 1: Teotihuacán Located about an hour drive from Mexico City, Teotihuacan is a must-see. This ancient Mesoamerican city was probably established around 100 BC, long before the arrival of the Aztecs and its origins are still unknown. Teotihuacan began as a religious center in the Mexican Highlands around the first century AD. It was supposed to be the largest city in the pre-Columbian Americas, with an estimated population of at least 125,000. In the 8th century AD, the city was abandoned, probably because of the extreme weather events in the centuries before. Walk along the Avenue of the Dead and admire the Temple of Quetzalcoatl, the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon, apartment compounds, and vibrant murals. Secret tunnels were discovered under the pyramids of the Moon and Temple of the Feathered Serpent. Teotihuacan was a prosperous kingdom and traded with obsidian, used for tools, weapons, and other. Close to the pyramids, you can even experience how people turn volcanic stone into a piece of art, observe the sun, how to use the entire cactus and turn it into a sewing kit, or how they ingeniously colored the sewing thread and used interior parts of the cactus as paper. And here is the bonus that we promised: Don’t leave Mexico without experiencing Mariachi, a genre of regional Mexican music and a symbol of Mexican national identity. Mariachi music as we know it today originated in Jalisco in the 19th century. You can listen to mariachi in various places around Mexico City, like Plaza Garibaldi. Whether you want to follow the footsteps of the Aztecs, experience centuries-old traditions during Día de los Muertos, admire the place where Frida Kahlo lived, immerse yourself in delicious street food, or discover artisan and other markets, there is plenty to do in Mexico City.

2023.06.07 14:30 ReligionandTonic [TOMT][SONG][2010s] Genre: Indie/Folk/Singer-Songwriter. Male singer. American most likely. Song is about a man and woman who swim out to a rock in a lake, surrounded by trees and make love

The song is euphemistic, it might have a line like “we had each other on the rock while the spirits of the old gods watched”. Something like that. Definitely two people being in love in a lake surrounded by old gods or forest spirits/energies. Possibly the “Lady of the Lake”. Anything I search brings up Christian worship songs and it is definitely not that. Lord Huron, Bon Iver or Ben Howard vibes, but possibly more obscure

2023.06.07 14:27 4blockhead If misogyny were an Olympic sport, BYU religion professor and author, Rodney Turner would have won gold in 1972.

["Women and the Priesthood," Rodney Turner (1972), p.285] Heaven, itself, bears witness to the proper roles of men and women. God does not send his daughters on errands to this world until it is time for them to acquire mortal bodies. And when they set them aside in death, they do not venture forth again until the resurrection. Claims of females, such as the Virgin Mary, appearing from heaven with messages for a church or for the world are false. The voice of the priesthood is a male voice; nowhere in all scripture is there record of any female being heard speaking in behalf of God. The Lord does not send women to do the work of men; it is not for women to receive instructions for the Church and kingdom and priesthood of God. The message of salvation is a priesthood message delivered by male messengers to male prophets. It is all under the direction of the Godhead—three male deities. It is revealed through the instrumentality of the Holy Ghost, an unembodied spirit man. It is validated by the atoning sacrifice of the Son of God and it is the responsibility of men to take the good news of salvation into all the world. Woman's primary role is in the home just as man's is in the fields—the world. Each has proper labors to perform and a proper place in which to perform them. If women do the work of men and men do the work of women the result is confusion, strife, insecurity and a loss of basic identities.
The Catholic claims of Mary's visitations are false. Professor Turner tells us why. God doesn't do business with women at the helm, or first officer. When there is work to be done, he sends Peter, James, and John, or the archangel Gabriel, or Nephi or Moroni. He gets those two confused. Serious work is for men. Catholic adoration of Mary and claims of visitations are simply untrue by Turner's dismissal. Catholics are the "great and abominable church," and a "Mary worshiping cult." Catholics, please, don't you dare turn this around and call mormonism a "Smith worshiping cult." Praise to the Man!
This book was written by a BYU religion professor and still draws a lot of mormon hate online. Who is this dude to speak for the top tier leadership? Perhaps, the dogma would go down easier if it came from the top:
Hat tip to alien236 on this thread who quoted Turner a few months ago.

2023.06.07 14:21 D_PaulWalker What happens if you leave the church? Can you lose your salvation?

Those that have trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ, that he was the Son of God, died for their sins, was buried, and rose the third day, are the Church, the body of Christ, sealed with the Holy Spirit and never in any danger of losing their salvation.
Ephesians 1:13 KJV In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
There are many deceivers and false teachers as well as those that just have misinterpreted the Scriptures (KJV). Due to this there are many divisions, denominations, which, according to Satan’s plan, hurts the witness of the true Church. Leaving one of them has no effect upon your salvation.
As with many, they are not looking nor willing to find, receive, or live, the truth but are just looking for affirmation of what they already believe and are willing to be deceived.
No man ever believes that the Bible means what it says: He is always convinced that it says what he means. —George Bernard Shaw
Many take advantage of this and deceived the willing.

2023.06.07 14:15 Neon_Tusk_of_Camblor Roast me: a guide to two lunch spots i wrote in 2019 (and forgot about so updated the dates etc)

Being an average human being in Wellington in the year of our lord, the universally depressing year of 2023, is a unique existence.
Our capital city, the home to the machinations of politics, of wind and rain and an unusable library and so many shades of black that an ordinary Wellingtonian can determine between a coat of Midnight in May or Winters Darkest Forlorn, is yet home to so many wonderful edible incursions and you, as I, the Average Wellington Office Worker, or for future reference, the AWOW, have no shortage of choice.
However many the options, ultimately there exists the limitation of our hard earned dollar.
Toiling, as you or I do, in the acid mines of life, for those blood dollar rewards from our whip weilding lizard lords, means we should be more discerning toward delicious sustenance and ensure this reaches the ultimate equilibrium of value to deliciousness.
Herein, is this AWOWs picks for the best lunch bang for your buck;
In earnest, a man’s anus is touched at very few times in his life; prostate checkup, special secret time at church, and at Soul Shack on Victoria Street. The spice level of your fried chicken burger begins at a gentle nudge toward friendship with a fiery chum and concludes with a 14 hour throat invocation to Cthulhu as your physical existence begins to degrade and leak, mostly from your rear. $22 dollars with fries, an absolute bargain!
As Heracles laboured through Herculean tasks, so do Wellingtonians labour through tasks Wellingtonian; namely plotting our paths from the train station to avoid the rain (meaning a couple of tactical crossings to and from featherston Street) and justifying our roles at the Ministry of Whatever. No place in Wellington better represents our desire to seek solace from the shitty story of our lives than Fishermans Plate on Bond Street.
Number 24, rare beef Pho. This is all you need to know. People undergo vomitus ayahuasca ceremonies to attempt to seek enlightenment and become one with their spirit, but all they need is that first slurp of Number 24.
The spirit, crushed by the sickening awareness of our insignificance in a city of darkening greys, of bus delays and rising parking prices, of poorly insulated homes and rising rents, is renewed with this slurp; a life giving liquor. $17, an absolute must.

2023.06.07 13:58 Djh1982 Why The Council of Trent Rejected the 5-Solas

During a recent post I was in the comments doing my thing defending the Catholic position regarding the council of Trent. I thought my exchange with one user would be informative enough in it’s own right to be the subject of it’s own post. This is by NO MEANS exhaustive in it’s content. My intent is only for it to serve as a starting point for those who wish to be more informed about the statements made by this council. So here it is.
WHY THE COUNCIL OF TRENT REJECTED THE FIVE SOLAS
A user writes:
And there are huge problems with catholic theology including their non-acceptance of the 5 solas.
Yes, we do reject them and for good reason.
(Note: this person then goes on to cite the portions of Trent which reject the 5-Solas)
Canon 9. If anyone says that the sinner is justified by faith alone, meaning that nothing else is required to cooperate in order to obtain the grace of justification, and that it is not in any way necessary that he be prepared and disposed by the action of his own will, let him be anathema.
This is supported by [James 2:24] and [Romans 2:13]. It is also an indictment of Luther’s position that prior to salvation man does not have Free Will.
Luther writes in his “On The Bondage Of Will”(1525):
”For if man has lost his freedom, and is forced to serve sin, and cannot will good, what conclusion can more justly be drawn concerning him, than that he sins and wills evil necessarily?" Martin Luther BW pg. 149
This is heretical because Moses says:
[Deuteronomy 30:19]
“This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live “
The Catholic Church’s teaching at Trent was that Moses was not inviting them to do that which they could not do(i.e; obey God) by means of their will, which meant that their will was truly free.
The wording about needing to be ”prepared” beforehand is a reference to the Council of Orange[529AD] which said that God provides “stimulating graces” which prepares the will for cooperation with justification, freeing it so that man may then choose to do what is good.
Luther did not only assert that man is justified by faith alone, he also denied these “stimulating” graces talked about at the Council of Orange—hence why he denied Free Will. A denial of these preparatory graces was, to the council of Trent, a denial of Our Lord’s own testimony:
[John 3:8]
”The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
As extra reading, St.Thomas Aquinas cites these verses to established these “stimulating” graces[1 Cor 12: 4-12].
If you didn’t know that before reading canon 9 you would be lost at this point. Now why was the Council of Orange teaching about “stimulating” graces in the first place?
See Pelagianism:
https://www.britannica.com/topic/heresy
As well as this article on the Council of Orange:
https://www.britannica.com/topic/councils-of-Orange
Canon 14. If anyone says that man is absolved from his sins and justified because he firmly believes that he is absolved and justified, or that no one is truly justified except him who believes himself justified, and that by this faith alone absolution and justification are effected, let him be anathema.
Trent said that because the scriptures teach that the apostles(and by extension their successors) are the ”ministers of reconciliation”[2 Cor.5:18]. They exercise their apostolic authority to forgive sins through the administration of the sacraments of baptism[Acts 22:12] and sacramental confession[John 20:23]. One may not unilaterally declare that on account of the fact that they “believe” that one has obtained the remission of sins. It is not “through faith alone” that one has the remission of sins, but rather through the authority of Christ, which he has invested in His Church.
Canon 24. If anyone says that justice received is not preserved and also not increased before God through good works, but that those works are merely fruits and signs of justification obtained, not the cause of its increase, let him be anathema.
This is being taught because it is supported by [2 Corinthians 3:18] which says:
“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate[note: ‘to contemplate’ is a ‘good work’] the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory,[aka: Justice is increasing] which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
The reformers denied that your justification can increase AFTER you have been saved. The above passage clearly denies that idea so yes, they rejected sola fide. They had no choice.
Canon 30. If anyone say that after the reception of the grace of justification the guilt is so remitted and the debt of eternal punishment so blotted out ... that no debt of temporal punishment remains to be discharged ... before the gates of heaven can be opened, let him be anathema.
Temporal punishment for sin was not expiated by the atonement, that’s why we are all going to grow old and die someday. Natural death is a “temporary” punishment, or curse, which was placed on Adam and Eve. Each sin has a temporal punishment associated with it, and man’s need to atone for his sin is supported in various sways across several passages:
[1 Peter 4:8]
“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
See also:
[Colossians 1:24]
“Now I rejoice in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church.”
And:
[Matthew 5:26]
“Truly I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.”
Furthermore, we see this evidence in the OT as well.
David repents of his sin and acknowledges his sin merited death[2 Samuel 12:5].
Then Nathan says, “The Lord also has taken away your sin; you shall not die” [12:13].
But this did not negate punishment:
“Nevertheless, because by this deed you have utterly scorned the Lord, the child that is born to you shall die” [12:14].
IN CONCLUSION
I hope you have enjoyed this brief explanation of why the Council of Trent said what it said with respect to the 5-Solas.

2023.06.07 13:40 yerederetaliria Our second date

Introduction: https://www.reddit.com/yandere/comments/142b5vq/irl_yandere_couple_experiences/
First date: https://www.reddit.com/yandere/comments/142bdq3/our_first_date/

As I said in the first date post I had met with Jenny and we put together a plan for the first date. We also discussed the possibilities for a second and third date. Since we didn't know how well the first date would go we decided to be flexible and I would follow her lead or Finnian's lead if he was completely uninterested. She described that our pairing on the first date seemed "electric" and she had already come up with a couple of ideas for the next date. She didn't feel that I needed any more help but she was more curious than anything. She actually hoped that he would take the bait for the offer but I jumped at it first.
Jenny and John knew of a Colorado Indie band that was visiting Fort Collins and was playing at a local restaurant/club called Avogadro's Number. https://www.avogadros.com/The place was close to campus and a hot spot for students. The place always filled up even when there wasn't live music but it was sure to be filled that night. I could barely wait until evening and I was hyped up all day. At one point I started to walk over to a bus stop near his apt where I had watched him before but I decided against it. Avogadro's Number was within walking distance for me and we all decided it was best for everyone to meet there. I don't remember the time we were going to meet but it was after dinner and we were just going to get drinks, dessert and listen to music. Jenny called me in the evening letting me know that another couple was going to come. I didn't care as long as Finnian was there.
I left too early and and started walking. I met him near Sigma Nu, this would seem an odd thing to say here but it was significant. All I needed to do was walk straight North to Avogadros Number but instead I turned West towards his apartment. I knew he'd come that way because I knew his address but he didn't know I knew his address. We started walking together no questions asked. I wanted him to know what I'd been up to but not everything so I made myself "suspect" by meeting him on this route. We were casual and it was a nice night for February. If you've lived in Colorado you'll know that the weather can be extreme. February can range from 70 F to below zero F and I remember that it was nice weather for coats. Finnian and I were late when we met Jenny and John with the other couple. I don't remember the other couple and I don't recall them ever entering our lives again. Jenny and John had a lot of friends.
The six of us shared a table for two near a window further away from the music. I saw the restaurant was going to run out of chairs and while John and Finnian were talking I grabbed a chair for he and I... to share. I did this on purpose. We all kind of gathered around the table and I gave the chair to Finnian and he tried to give it back and he remembers me saying, "I want to sit down, so sit...por favor..." I then planted myself on his lap with my arm around his shoulders. We weren't the only ones doing this. The place was packed and some people were standing or leaning on the wall or even on the floor, etc. He remembers the band to be a folksy alternative indie rock band, nothing really special but good musicians. He remembers that we all ordered dessert and he and I had coffee. I did not care about drinks, dessert, music or anything only being with him. He and John talked a little but John couldn't stay still and kept wandering. That left us alone but in good company.
I was really calm that night and played with his hand a lot. We talked. It was silly early dating talk about interests and such. I remember we talked about why we were attending ColoSU and I learned about his major but not schedule (that's important). (I actually knew his major and had met his professors too so this made it official) I straight out asked him if he was serious about transferring to the Uni Alaska, Fairbanks. He was surprised that I knew about that and I made the comment while looking away from him that I knew more about him than he thinks. He said, "probably." We were flirting with words and proximity very subtley. He was catching on and we both knew that we were becoming a couple.
He talked about backpacking, I remember feeling it was a test of sorts. Would I be willing to go and rough it? I told him that it sounded like a dream and little did either of us realize how much we would later on. I learned how matter of fact he is and how he can be brutally but gently honest. He told me about how he wrote an enormous paper about the Hungarian Uprising and entitled it "Much Ado About Nothing." He was in High School and he had to write a paper about the Cold War and he chose that topic even though his Dad said it was a lie and never happened and the teacher said he wouldn't find any info on it. He concluded the paper by talking about The Frankfurt School (Cultural Marxism and Political Correctness) being founded by the Hungarian Marxists which is also "much ado about nothing." You see how he flatly quoted their idea and still upheld his idea that it was very important? I think he's brilliant.
We also talked about favorites and I did a silly thing that he told me later interrupted his dreams. I asked his favorite animal, wolf, and confessed mine to be a fox. Then I volunteered why, and I listed off a variety of reasons including the vixen mating scream which he looked up later that night. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYYHrG6UC4U He said that Brad, his apt mate heard it and commented, "another psycho chick." I also mentioned the vulgar Spanish language connection. This is hard to explain in a short writing the complexities of these flirts. "Zorra" (vixen) is a suggestive word. I like word play. I remember growing up confusing my parents with, "Que linda zorra persiguiendo a un gallo." (What a cute vixen chasing a chicken) or (What a cute bitch chasing cock) Mother would ask, "why does the fox have to be a female and the chicken a male?!" And I would reply, "because I'm a girl and my favorite animal is a fox so it's a girl fox and the rooster defends the girl chickens." (reversing the genders would make the phrase polite and not vulgar - colloquially) Finnian knew what I was doing.
Do you see what we were discovering? We were connecting intellectually and understanding an important communication style. We found that we were both "moderately good" people who flirted with bad. To write a paper calling out past and present history and calling it nothing is similar to me saying "zorra traviesa traviesa zorra" which can be translated to "vixen naughty sleeper bitch." With all this word play and lap sitting I sound very whorish but we were actually very behaved and we knew we were connecting deeply and in ways that that take other couples months. I was trying to take this to another level (again my habit of elevating and pushing forward) and he was catching on which is why we eventually left for a moment.
It was hot in the restaurant with all the people and our warm clothes and he asked to go outside. As he was going John asked if everything was allright and he replied that we were getting some air. Then he grabbed my hand and we pushed our way through the door. I loved that it wasn't just him getting air but he took me. The night was cold but not freezing and he and I took a short walk. Avogadro's Number is by the railroad tracks that go through town and we crossed them and made our way over to a nice church with trees around the building. (about 1000 feet - you could see both buildings) I was just a church and a pretty area no other significance. He asked me, "¿Qué estás haciendo?" (What are you doing? I understood him to ask "What are you up to?") And I answered, "Tu tienes lo que quiero." (You have what I want.) I was playing the song game with him that we played the night before and I referenced a song that was eventually played at our Wedding reception. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmYf3IzOLD8 We still do this stuff and later you'll hear more of it including "code phrases" and such.
He commented that the church was made of stone with a good foundation. He was implying that we need to start well if we are going to do this. There was something between us, a spirit of sorts. We were dancing around this coupling. I knew I had him if I just kept being respectful. Respect is important, Jenny actually told me that he wasn't looking for a one night stand but a relationship. Of course I agreed but that did influence how I flirted with him. I tried to be more formal and suggestive at the same time. My heart was so focused on him. He leaned in and gave me a kiss that took me by surprise and I learned he was very good when he is not taken off guard. I actually ended up leaning on a tree when he kissed me. He took my breath away. This was a very romantic toe curling kiss.
We made our way back to the restaurant. We continued our night but we lost our chair so I leaned on him as he leaned against a wall. Eventually, the night was over and the six of us left. As we were chatting outside the restaurant Jenny asked if we made any more plans. The next day was Sunday and I straight up asked him to come to church with me. I wanted him to meet Father Bob at my church, and yes, I was already manipulating things that far ahead. I said I'd be honest about this. I never kidnapped Finnian but I did arrange an early meeting with the priest who would marry us. I am not claiming this was right but it happened. Finnian declined and said he really needed to study tomorrow for an exam and that he knows that I'd distract him the rest of the day if I went to my church tomorrow.
He then suggested we see each other Monday evening and I said, "No, you have Physics from 10:30 - 12:00 and I get off work at 11:45 so we'll meet for lunch in the Student Center main lobby by the coffee shop. It takes 5 minutes to walk from Physics to Lory [Student Center] and 10 minutes for the bathroom so 12:15." He then asked how I knew about his Physics class. I replied, "Chemistry and Physics go together, Querido." I remember that very well because it was so revealing and I felt chills saying it. Everyone in our little party heard and Jenny gave me a cautious look. He knew that I had an idea of his address and class schedule. I admitted that I knew more than I let on, I wanted him to meet my parish preist and now he has a pet name, "Querido." "Querido" means Dear and it is old fashioned and elevated, it was forward.

🗽📜 New York City: Unveiling the Tapestry of History 🌆🌟

Newyorkcityadvisor
New York City, often referred to as the "Big Apple" or simply "NYC," has a rich and captivating history that spans centuries. From its early beginnings as a Dutch colony to becoming one of the world's most influential cities, New York has played a significant role in shaping American culture, economics, and social progress. Let's explore the fascinating history of the city:
  1. Early Settlement and Colonial Era: New York City traces its origins back to the early 17th century when the Dutch established a trading post called New Amsterdam in 1624. It served as a vital hub for fur trade and attracted settlers from various European countries. In 1664, the English seized control and renamed it New York.
  2. American Revolution: During the American Revolution (1775-1783), New York City was a strategic center and a battleground. It served as the British military and political base in North America until its evacuation in 1783. The city played a crucial role in shaping early American independence and was briefly the capital of the United States in the 1780s.
  3. 19th Century Expansion: The 19th century marked a period of tremendous growth for New York City. The completion of the Erie Canal in 1825 connected New York City to the Great Lakes region, facilitating trade and transforming it into a major port. The city's population exploded as immigrants flocked to its shores, seeking economic opportunities and contributing to its diverse cultural fabric.
  4. Industrialization and Immigration: New York City experienced rapid industrialization during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Industries such as manufacturing, finance, and commerce flourished, making New York a global economic powerhouse. Waves of immigrants arrived, primarily from Europe, seeking the American Dream. Neighborhoods like Chinatown, Little Italy, and Harlem became vibrant cultural enclaves.
  5. The Gilded Age and Progressive Era: The late 19th century and early 20th century saw the rise of the Gilded Age, characterized by immense wealth and stark social inequality. The city's skyline transformed with iconic structures like the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, and Empire State Building. The Progressive Era brought reforms to improve living conditions, labor rights, and political corruption.
  6. 20th Century and Beyond: In the 20th century, New York City became a global center for finance, culture, and the arts. It witnessed significant events such as the construction of skyscrapers, the roaring 1920s, the Great Depression, World War II, and the post-war boom. The city faced challenges like urban decay, social unrest, and the 9/11 terrorist attacks but demonstrated resilience and a spirit of unity.
Today, New York City remains a bustling metropolis and a melting pot of cultures. It is home to iconic landmarks like Times Square, Central Park, Broadway, and Wall Street. The city's neighborhoods offer diverse culinary experiences, museums, galleries, and world-class universities. New York City continues to shape global trends in art, fashion, finance, technology, and more.
Exploring the history of New York City is like stepping into a time machine, witnessing the city's transformation from humble beginnings to its status as a global icon. Its vibrant history serves as a testament to the indomitable spirit of its residents and the enduring allure of the "City That Never Sleeps." 🗽🌆 #NewYorkCityHistory #BigAppleChronicles

2023.06.07 11:04 lechatheureux The Tonpa Kingdoms Part 2 (The Kingdoms of Jangshun and Monyul)

Check out part 1 for context
The Tonpa Kingdoms Part 1 (Overview and The Gods) : worldbuilding (reddit.com)
There are 5 connected Kingdoms that have Tonpa as their main religion these are.
Jangshun
A Place of snow-capped Mountains and green Valleys, said to be built upon the ruins of the ancient Jungar people who controlled much of the area of Jangshun and the nearby kingdoms of Monyul and Taishigang.
Very little is known about the Jungar, their ruins are scattered throughout the landscape of Jangshun, and are often characterized by simple stone structures, pottery shards, and other artifacts. Based on these remains, it is believed that the Jungar were a relatively simple society, with a lifestyle that revolved around farming, herding, and other basic activities.
Despite their lack of sophistication, the Jugar are an important part of the history and culture of the region many myths and legends have grown up around them, the people of Jangshun often see the Jungar as a symbol of the enduring spirit of the region, and take pride in the fact that they were able to survive and thrive in a harsh and unforgiving environment. In addition to their physical remains, the Jungar have left a lasting impact on the people of Jangshun in other ways. Their language, customs, and traditions are thought to have influenced the culture of the later kingdom, and many people still feel a strong connection to the Jagun and their way of life.
The Capital of Jangshun is called Druktse, founded by Dragon Priests and the legendary Namgyal dynasty the city is known for its unique architecture, with buildings made of wood and stone, intricately carved and painted with colorful designs and motifs, the streets are narrow and winding, with prayer flags fluttering in the breeze and the sound of temple bells ringing in the air.
At the center of the city is the Royal Palace of Jigme Wangchuk, a majestic building that serves as the residence of the Royal Family, the palace consists of several wings and halls, each with its own specific function. The main hall is the center of political and ceremonial activities, where the king held court and received important guests. The royal family's private quarters were located in a separate wing, with opulent living spaces and lavish decorations.
One of the most impressive features of the palace is the Eagle Tower, a tall structure that houses the elite Eagle Guards, who were responsible for the king's security the tower is covered from top to bottom with intricate carvings of the bird of prey.
The palace is surrounded by lush gardens and fountains, and it is guarded by soldiers in traditional Eagle attire, the Eagle Guards of the palace of Jingme Wangchuk are an elite group of soldiers tasked with protecting the king and the royal family, known for their fearsome reputation and exceptional combat skills, the Eagle Guards are considered one of the most prestigious units in the Jangshun army.
The guards are named after the majestic eagles that inhabit the mountainous regions of Jangshun, and they were trained to emulate the hunting tactics of these birds of prey. They are adept at using the terrain to their advantage, and are particularly skilled at scaling steep cliffs and mountainous terrain to surprise and overwhelm their enemies. In addition to their exceptional combat skills, the Eagle Guards were also known for their loyalty and dedication to the royal family. They undergo rigorous training and were selected based on their physical prowess, intelligence, and character, to become an Eagle Guard, applicants must be graduates of both the School of the Father and School of the Dragon.
The Eagle Guards are outfitted in distinctive uniforms that featured a stylized eagle emblem, and they were armed with a variety of weapons, including bows, spears, and swords. They were also known to use eagle feathers and talons in their armor and equipment, as a nod to the unit's namesake.
Druktse is a hub of cultural and religious activities, with several monasteries and temples located throughout the city.
The most famous of these is the Tashicho Dzong, a stunning fortress monastery that serves as the seat of The Gyelpa (The Duke) the secondary ruler of Druktse and the center of Druk-Ta worship. The dzong is surrounded by high walls and towers, and is accessible through a grand gate that is guarded by soldiers. The interior of the dzong is a maze of courtyards, chapels, and offices, all connected by narrow passageways and staircases.
One of the most impressive features of Tashicho Dzong is its towering central fortress and monastery, which rises above the rest of the complex and can be seen from miles around. This fortress is home to the Dragon Priests and is one of the most important structures in Jangshun. The fortress monastery is also famous for its beautiful architecture and intricate artwork. The walls of the courtyards are adorned with colorful murals and paintings, while the chapels are filled with statues and other religious artifacts. Visitors to Tashicho Dzong can tour the complex and learn about Jangshun history and culture, as well as observe the daily routines of the monks who live and work there. The Monastery is open to the public during certain hours of the day, and visitors are advised to dress modestly and remove their shoes before entering the chapels. Even though the current royal family of Jangshun are connected to The Father, The Dragon holds a special place in Druktse.
The people of Druktse are known for their warm hospitality and their strong sense of community. They celebrate several festivals throughout the year, including the annual Tshechu festival, the 3 Gods Festival which features colorful dances and rituals performed by monks and laypeople.
To the north-east of the Kingdom lies the second biggest city in Jangshun, the city of Lhagyal, often called “The Fire-proof City”
Lhagyal is a mass of stone walls and buildings with precious little wood being used at all, the walls of the city are imposingly high and even the central palace is relatively flat and does not rise above the walls, there are 4 gates made of pure steel and those are the only entrances and exits.
Inside the city walls, the streets are narrow and winding, with tall, tightly packed buildings constructed from rough-hewn stone. The architecture is distinct, with flat roofs and ornate metal doors decorating the doorways and windows, many of the buildings are built into the city's walls, their backs resting against the ancient stones.
There is more to the city than what meets the eye. Beneath the streets lie a labyrinth of tunnels and catacombs, built for both practical and spiritual purposes. Some are used for storage or as escape routes, while others are filled with ancient artifacts and sacred relics. The catacombs are also home to a complex network of underground temples and shrines and busy streets that are home to underground residences and businesses.
Despite its rugged appearance, the city's architecture is a testament to its resilience. It has withstood numerous attempts at invasion over the centuries, including attacks by powerful enemies armed with the latest in siege weaponry. The city's fortifications are a marvel of engineering, designed to withstand even the most devastating attacks and yet, for all its defensive prowess, the city has never lost sight of its cultural heritage.
The most famous instance of this was when the neighbouring Confucian Kingdom of Jinyun attempted to invade Jangshun with its impressive military might, scores of loyal foot-soldiers hardened by decades of conflict and advanced siege technology that included weapons that used fireworks.
The city withstood months of warfare with Lhagyal earning its nickname of “The Fire-proof City” The stone structures withstood the fireworks and the hard rock of the walls withstood the Jinyun catapults, outside the city several guerilla efforts by the Eagle Guards, The Company of the Hand and The White Tigers from Monyul lending their support repelled attempted on-foot invasions by the hardened Jinyun soldiers.
In the south-west of Jangshun, near the borders of Monyul and Taishigang lies the town of Gyalpeling, a place revered by monks and pilgrims alike. Gyalpeling, meaning "Abode of the Victorious" is a small yet vibrant town located in a remote corner of the kingdom. Its strategic location, surrounded by imposing mountains and blessed with fertile lands, has made it a crucial hub for spiritual activities and monastic life. The town is centered around a grand monastery, which serves as the heart and soul of the community. The monastery, known as Samtenling Monastery, is a majestic complex of ornate buildings adorned with colorful murals, fluttering prayer flags, and the sound of chanting monks echoing through the air. It is a revered place of worship and learning, drawing scholars, practitioners, and seekers of wisdom from far and wide. The streets of Gyalpeling are lined with modest housing for monks, adorned with intricate woodcarvings and colorful paintings. The locals, known for their warm hospitality and deep reverence for Tonpa, every activity the townspeople engage in helps the monastery in some way, whether trading, farming or craftsmanship, every resident of Gyalpeling helps out the monastery in some way. The town also boasts natural hot springs, believed to have healing properties, which attract pilgrims and visitors seeking solace and rejuvenation. The pristine rivers and lakes surrounding Gyalpeling add to its enchanting beauty, serving as places for meditation, ritual ablutions, and scenic walks. Gyalpeling is not only a place of spiritual significance, but it also serves as a center of learning, with numerous scriptoria, libraries, and meditation caves where monks engage in intensive study, contemplation, and meditation, prospective monks come from all over the 5 Kingdoms to study in Gyalpeling, as monks educated within its walls are valued in any court of the Tonpa Kingdoms.
One of the most valuable cities in Jangshun isn't far from the capital, a short 1 hour horse ride east of Druktse stands the city of Jangtse, a jewel in the crown of the kingdom. Jangtse, meaning "Silver Peak" in the local tongue, owes its fame and prosperity to the rich veins of silver that run through the nearby mountains, making it a thriving center for mining and trade. At the heart of Jangtse rises a magnificent conical palace, known as Jang Potrang, or the "Silver Palace." The palace, glistening like a beacon atop the tallest hill in the city, is adorned with silver-plated roofs, walls, and pillars, reflecting the sunlight and casting a mesmerizing glow over the surrounding landscape. It serves as the royal residence, where the Count holds court and conducts affairs pertaining to the area between Jangtse and Druktse. The streets of Jangtse are lined with buildings that boast silver-plated facades, creating a surreal and shimmering sight as one walks through the city, often shining gold from reflecting the sunlight, the wealth of the city is evident in the intricate silver filigree work that adorns windows, doors, and rooftops of temples, mansions, and markets alike. The silversmiths of Jangtse are renowned for their craftsmanship, producing exquisite silverware and jewelry that are sought after by collectors and traders from distant lands. The city is a bustling center of commerce, with a vibrant market square where merchants from across the region gather to trade in silver, gemstones, textiles, and other precious goods. The sounds of bartering, laughter, and the clinking of silver coins fill the air.
The Armies of Jangshun are known for their ferocious foot-soldiers, the every-day rank and file soldiers of the Jangshun armies are regarded as the best in the region and are a feared prospect to face on any battlefield.
The soldiers of the army of Jangshun are highly disciplined and skilled in the art of warfare, and are renowned throughout the region for their courage and loyalty. They are trained in a variety of weapons and fighting styles, including archery, swordsmanship, and hand-to-hand combat.
It is said that the success of the army comes from the fact that many men and women who fight in it are from mountainous regions and are conditioned from a young age to move over mountainous land with ease, their armies can easily traverse land that would be impossible for normal armies to travel over, due to the fact that the soldiers know the land.
The army of Jangshun is led by a commander-in-chief, who is appointed by the common foot-soldiers and is responsible for the overall strategy and tactics of the army. Under the commander-in-chief, there are several generals and officers who oversee different units of the army, each with their own specific roles and responsibilities. The soldiers of the army of Jangshun are equipped with a variety of weapons and armor, including shields, helmets, and chainmail. They are also skilled in the use of traditional weapons, such as the da and the gochu, which are types of swords. In addition to their skills in battle, the soldiers of the army of Jangshun are also highly respected for their loyalty and devotion to their ruler and country. They are known for their strong sense of duty and honor, and are willing to lay down their lives in defense of their homeland. The army of Jangshun is often called upon to defend the kingdom against invading forces, and has a long history of successful battles and campaigns. Their reputation for courage and skill has earned them the respect of their neighbors and allies, and they are a source of pride and inspiration for the people of Jangshun.
One of the most famous regiments from Jangshun is the “Wheel of Steel” A heavily armored longsword unit founded by Princess Jamyang Daughter of King Kunga and Sister of King Yangchen of the Yeshe Dynasty after she travelled to Europe and witnessed people fighting in full suits of armor, this was a foreign concept in the areas around her and she implemented the idea with her Father's (And later Brother's) full support they were first deployed in aid of Taishigang who were experiencing an invasion from a nearby Dharmist Kingdom. The longswords cleaved through the invading forces lack of armor and their steel plates deflected blows.
Monyul
Monyul is a land of vast open spaces and stunning natural beauty. The kingdom is home to a proud and fiercely independent people, who have built a rich culture and a strong military tradition, its plains are green and warm during the summer but snow is not uncommon in winter. Dharmaling is the capital city of Monyul and is nestled in the hills, surrounded by winding rivers and vast grasslands. It is a city steeped in tradition and culture, with a rich history that stretches back centuries.
Dharmaling was built as the northern most outpost of the Dharmist Indraprastha Empire but was conquered by Tonpa forces from a tribe that would eventually become known as the Monyul. The city is built around a central marketplace, where merchants from all over the known world come to trade their wares. The marketplace is a bustling hub of activity, filled with the sounds of bargaining and haggling, and the aromas of exotic spices and perfumes.
The Company of the Wind have their main offices in Dharmaling and use the bustling 10 storey wooden building to plan its operations throughout the known world. The streets of Dharmaling are relatively wide due to the constant horse carts that pass through them. The buildings are made of stone and wood, with intricately carved facades and ornate balconies. Many of the houses have flat roofs, which are used as outdoor living spaces during the warmer months. At the heart of the city lies the great monastery of The 3 Gods, unlike in other cities which have separate monasteries for the three Gods, this temple combines them as a display of unity between the three sects. The massive structure dominates the skyline, with its towering walls and intricate carvings. The monastery is home to a community of monks, who dedicate their lives to the study and practice of Tonpa. Surrounding the monastery are the homes of the nobility, who are known for their wealth and power. These grand estates are filled with beautiful gardens and courtyards, and are often adorned with intricate carvings and colorful murals. Outside the city walls, the landscape is dotted with small villages and nomadic encampments. These communities are home to herders and farmers, who make their living tending to the region's yaks and sheep. Despite its remote location, Dharmaling is a city of great importance, both culturally and politically. It is a place of pilgrimage for Monks, Merchants and laypeople from all over the world, and is also a hub of trade and commerce. The people of Dharmaling are proud of their heritage and their way of life, and are fiercely protective of their city and its traditions.
A 30 minute walk to the west of Dharmaling lies the Temple of Tong Thang, the Beehive Temple, as visitors approach the temple, they are greeted by the gentle humming of bees that buzz around the entrance, seemingly inviting them inside, the entrance is adorned with ornate wooden doors intricately carved with depictions of bees in flight, the temple is home to hundreds of bee colonies. The interior of the temple is a marvel of craftsmanship. The walls are adorned with honeycomb patterns carved into the stone, creating a mesmerizing visual display. Soft light filters through small openings in the dome-shaped ceiling, the centerpiece of the temple is a large altar made of honey-colored stone, adorned with intricate carvings of bees and honeycombs, where devotees offer their prayers and offerings. The Temple of Thong Tang is a place of worship dedicated to the reverence of bees and their significance in nature and the cycle of life, every day priests and priestesses of The Mother make their way to the temple to tend to the bees, bringing them water and sliced fruits, every year there is a festival outside the temple where priests and priestesses of Caihong distribute honey gathered from the bees.
Monyul is home to a large lake called Jangchub Tso, the lake is bordered by lush green forests and snow-capped mountains to the south-east, a product of Monyul's border with Taishigang.
On the edge of the lake there is a large city called "Gangri Thang", which is known for its fish markets and skilled boatwrights, nobles from the surrounding Kingdoms often commission boatwrights from Gangri Thang to build grand freshwater barges for them.
Several villages surround the lake, mostly fishing and farming communities, every spring fishermen from these villages make their way to Gangri Thang with hundreds of fish, hoping to hock their catch to fishmongers, tourists and Company of the Wind officers.
The fish they carry is mainly the several species of trout that live in the lake but a few of the lucky ones carry the Golden Mahseer, a gleaming fish variety that is said to be very difficult to catch, although the taste of the fish pales in comparison to the trout, the Golden Mahseer is revered for its scales that give off a vibrant golden glow, these scales are often used in ceremonial dress of the region adoring clothing and jewellery.
The people of Monyul are also skilled artisans, known for their intricate weavings and pottery. The kingdom is home to many workshops and marketplaces, where merchants sell their wares to buyers from all over the region. The people of Monyul are known for their skill at horsemanship, and the kingdom is home to some of the finest cavalry units in the region. The army of Monyul is also composed of archers and spearmen, who are trained in the art of mounted combat and guerrilla warfare.
The most prestigious regiment of Monyul is a cavalry unit called the White Tigers, the horsemasters of the White Tigers are known as the strictest in the Tonpa Kingdoms, if a horse fails a single training drill both the horse and rider are deemed unworthy. The White Tigers main weapon is a thick spear, painted red with a bronze spearhead, it has a heavy counterweight at the back that also doubles as a blunt weapon. Their secondary weapons are a heavy sword and a short bow.

Platform Specific fixes
Balance Changes
Boomerang Monkey
This part has to be included along with the Lych Soul rework with Paragons which is finally making it in this update after necessary delays. As Boomerang Paragon’s knockback hits so many times so quickly, we need to make it more reasonable when applied to targets that aren’t immediately destroyed.
Bomb Shooter
MOAB Assassin fills a useful role of a pure long cooldown ‘single target assassination’ in the game, but when compared to something like First Strike it feels a little lacking that it is unable to carry damage through MOAB Layers
Tack Shooter
Blade Shooter has always struggled to find much value without MK or as a step to Maelstrom, so to give it build value on its own we feel like this should be a part of the base value on the upgrade.
Ice Monkey
Lowest tiers of ice monkey are far too effective for their cost against ceramics, with this scaling well all the way to round 100, we feel like ice duration against ceramics needs to be reduced to counter this but for now this reduction will only apply until T3.
Glue Gunner
The Bloon Solver’s rework has been very popular, however, we’d like to have a better lead up into the new mechanics by introducing this earlier at the tier 4 now.
Sniper Monkey
This will allow Cripple MOAB to take out regular MOAB layers in one shot until round 100; for such a slow attacking single target tower we feel this will help top path flex, even if mostly for show.
Monkey Buccaneer
Reworking Grape Shot crosspathing as it gains far too much crosspath value by T2 but then is lacking in purpose at higher tiers, double shot will only work as one extra grape however Destroyer will now apply its full attack rate buff to the grapes and Flagship will equip aspects of Grape Shot on the mini planes.
Monkey Ace
Spectre is shifting a little of the ceramic bonus around into basic all damage at the cost of reduced pierce, which should make up for lack of single target damage while also making the pierce crosspath more necessary when being used for cleanup focus.
Heli Pilot
Even with the map-range advantage, rotors are weak compared to any other constant AoE circle like this. Chinook feels like it’s near a place we are happy with now, however we want another tiny nudge on cost while keeping cash generation value the same. Pushing some higher values on the last Comanche Commander changes as the missile attack is effectively such a small portion of the tower’s total damage late game.
Mortar Monkey
As the Rapid Reload crosspath has actually fallen behind in value compared to Burny Stuff for top path Mortars we want to try a slight stun duration increase as this buffs the base path with a larger benefit to Rapid Reload mortars as a stalling option. Mortar consistency is lacking at x3x making it tough to spend on even though x4x is fairly good, so some of the T4 rate is shifting down to help out with this. As the camo property has grown quite weak and currently Signal Flare is considered the best decamo tool, we want to push back slightly on its cost and by reducing the blast radius of the decamo area while emphasizing crosspathing for effectiveness there.
Super Monkey
As Engineer sentries do this already, newly spawned Mini Avatars from temples will now by default match the target priority of the temple.
Ninja Monkey
We’re changing the Ninja Monkey Paragon’s focus as a fighter against camo, as we feel like a greater strength and tactical value against camo will be the full reveal of all camos rather than all camo removal.
Alchemist
Alchemist Transforming Tonic is in a weird spot with the transformation unable to attack through walls when the base alchemist is able to. Also with this, including a QoL fix for the T5 that currently prevents transformed towers from functioning with target priority.
Druid
While the tornado doesn't do anything to MOABs, it still spends itself on them which wastes a relatively long cooldown, so addressing this flaw. Avatar of wrath doubles the base attack speed before any scaling is applied, but this hasn’t ever applied to the 205 Lightning, so taking care of that as well. Housekeeping - even deep in the forest, it does actually make life better.
Spike Factory
We’ve heard the feedback, so Spiked Mines get a tweak to get more mines exploding but with less pierce on each, to overall increase quality of life in more frequent use but less wasted pierce. This will help out with some of the problems it has scaling into late game super ceramics.
Monkey Village
A minor QoL for cheap Monkeyopolis creation, we included a small base amount of cash production to the generation formula.
Engineer
The 005 crosspath fix in the last update left XXXL Trap slower than previously even if crosspathed to 205, so we are increasing that base 005 slightly to match up the 205 crosspath again so that it isn’t any slower than before.
Beast Handler
As our newest tower to be added to BTD6, we went over feedback for every path and made a large number of adjustments addressing a variety of points.
Gwendolin
Removing the stacking aspect of Gwendolin’s burn damage over time, but increasing the damage as she levels up so that it actually scales up in power now.
Adora
While they are complicated individuals, Adora can now fully appreciate the sacrifice of the newest Monkeys in the struggle against the Bloons.
Admiral Brickell
We aren’t happy with strats that start looking like exploits with frequent sell-replace loops.
Psi
Psi’s stalling out of the end of round is an odd mix of useful / annoying / out of control, so we are for now capping this to a 3 seconds of overtime stalling. Psi’s Psychic Blast ability also has weirdly low pierce for a long cooldown ability with no damage, we are increasing the base pierce greatly but it no longer increases in pierce at Lv7 since the extra pulse brings more pierce anyway.

Looking Forward
Five months of 2023 done and dusted, which feels to us like it has zoomed by, perhaps because the Auckland office where the BTD6 team is based has only just reopened after the severe flooding at the end of January. All of Update 36 and the majority of Update 37 were completed while again working from home, but we’re very excited to have the office repairs done, the flood wall almost finished, and the ability to work shoulder to shoulder again on fun new things for the monkeyverse! Here’s the latest gaze into the crystal ball:

Here are our top 10 picks:
Number 10: Plaza Mayor Plaza Mayor is one of the most important public spaces in Madrid. The square which once hosted coronations and executions, was first constructed in the 16th century. The square’s name and functions changed several times over the course of history, but it started out as a popular marketplace. Today, Plaza Mayor is famous for outdoor cafes and restaurants, the statue of Philip III on a horse, and the much-anticipated Christmas market. Don’t skip one of many entrances to Plaza Major, such as Arco de Los Cuchilleros, the most famous one. The square is home to the historic Casa de la Panaderìa, which served as the town’s main bakery hundreds of years ago. It is now also home to The Madrid Tourism Center. Visit other squares in Madrid, like the famous Puerta del Sol dating back to the 15th century.
Number 9: Food & markets Madrid is packed with exquisite bars, elegant restaurants, colorful markets, and sophisticated outdoor terraces. The city is a melting pot of Spanish cuisine, highlighting the country's diverse food culture. Start your day with a serving of tasty churros dipped in hot chocolate at Chocolatería San Ginés. Spaniards are known for going big for lunch, so huevos rotos, paella or any other typical spanish meal is a great option. Enjoy your lunch or dinner at authentic places, like Casa Toni, and order one of many delicious food options. And finish your day at the most popular food market in Madrid, Mercado de San Miguel, and try delicious appetizers called tapas with a glass of authentic Spanish wine. This century-old food hall is famous for its cast-iron structure and with its ideal and convenient central location, and flavors of every corner of Spain, the Mercado de San Miguel attracts over 10 million visitors annually. Visit also other food markets across Madrid.

2023.06.07 07:30 7persons4LyPH Thoughts from attending recovery meeting

Thoughts from attending recovery meeting
addiction recovery meeting. It’s a hard reality to recognize that I am still an addict to porn and masturbation. I first realized I was addicted more than 24 years ago. At the time there were no recovery groups for people like me. But a few years later I found that the church had meeting’s specifically for this. It was a god send. After attending the meetings, showing up, working the steps and listening to the spirit I found something that actually helped. However I let pride and complacency lull me back into carnal security (literally) and in the secret of denial my addiction thrived and survived.
There have been moments when I have found strength from god to silence the secret demon - but arrogance, pride, rebellion, and anger fed the subversive current until I let my addiction grow and live in plain sight. But I vehemently denied it at every opportunity when confronted by my loved ones. I proclaimed my innocence and swore on the heavens that I was clean but really I wasn’t.
Only now do I feel the wreck and ruin of living the lies. My spirit crushed and my vision dimmed, I see no way to find hope. All except for one thing. In the back of my mind is a memory of freedom and peace. That was what I had so many years ago when I was active and working the twelve step program. It was a time when I actually felt the spirit at the recovery meetings and felt my soul healing.
It is that memory that brings me back to join in and seek for hope in the saving grace of my higher power. I know my strength is not enough alone. I may have the power to win a battle or two. Sure I can white knuckle trying to resist temptation as good as the next guy. But I will fail and I will fall because my own strength is limited. But the strength of God is infinite and his endurance is never ending! He gives me his side to lean upon and his arm lifts me up and may even carry me in my time of need. Yes! The son of God, who walked upon the water and calmed the angry seas - he can turn the tide in my personal battle against the rolling waves of temptation that so easily upset me. He can steady my stumbling walk and he can lead me to safety and peace.
No matter what my thorn of affliction may be, the Lord knows how to heal it.

2023.06.07 07:25 AttackPatternAlpha Can Demons Possess Christians?

Galatians 6:7-8
7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.
A lot of people are concerned about this "can demons possess Christians" question. The only problem is that it is the wrong question. The real question is this: can demons possess you? If you are a carnal Christian or simply a professing, lukewarm Christian, they most certainly can.
The intensity of this war for the soul is more severe than you may think. The fear of God needs to be in you immediately. You need to work out your salvation with fear and trembling this very moment!
Demons don't care if you profess to be a Christian and go to church every day of your life. When you keep doing the sins they like, it simply makes them think you are religious and double-minded. To them, your actions speak louder than words. If you are indulging in sin and the lusts, a demon will enter you happily. It will quietly live within you.
When they do this. they are very quiet about it and do not announce their presence. Once inside of you, they will immediately multiply your desire to sin. They will try to get you to hate God and His people. You will be slowly cooked from the inside, so to speak. The demon wants 100% control, but right now it only has 10% and working on the rest.
Even as a profession Christian, if you are in willful sin the demons enter you quietly! As the word says, sow to the flesh and reap corruption. Demons require you to defile and corrupt yourself, so they can gain total control. Slowly they will gain more control over the victim as sin continues, manifesting as random on unexplained thoughts and actions of the victim.
The demons are frustrated that you try to seek God at all. Now it only has 30% control and wants more. It needs you to masturbate so that it gets more control! It needs you to support or promote the LGBTQ+ so it can get much more control, or any homosexual acts for that matter! As you open yourself up to these things, more wicked spirits arrive to help defeat you.
A reprobate mind and body are the playground of demons!
Eventually, it crosses a threshold where the demon can now talk out of the victim. It cares not that you profess to be a Christian. It will talk out when the victim start falling asleep at first, as the demon struggles to get control. If they are an unbeliever, the demon may be able to snap off at any time, showing an extreme level of control with no resistance from the victim. Often, this manifests as hatred for God and His people.
The demon thinks very hard on how to defeat professing, carnal Christians. These wicked spirits are like a virus in a body, where the immune defense has not activated yet. They believe that sexual sins are the fastest way to such a Christians defeat. They will complete the person into pornography, masturbation, sex toys and the like, because it invites other demons to help them conquer their souls immediately and every time.
All pornography, all masturbation, and all perverse sex products have waiting demons attached, who then will live inside of you. Sex demons are severely powerful, immediately setting up strongholds in the mind and body of the victim. They have already conquered a majority of the world. The victims become overwhelmed and enslaved to sex sin, unless they wake up...
"You are not meant to be able to escape," one demon over masturbation said.
"I knew you would repent," said another.
Fight against an enemy that God has now made you aware exists. These are self-aware evil spirits and want you to continue the evil habit. If they completely conquer the carnal, professing Christian, they will mount your head on their trophy wall. Don't let it happen to you!
Beg God to help you overcome the sin and lust! Ask Him to deliver you from these evil beings and things! Beg God for the Holy Spirit and to save you!

2023.06.07 07:19 saguaro_jed Church of the GTS

Lemme tell you all the wonders of the Grilled Turkey Samdwhichh
You’ve heard of the LDS church? Well this is the church of GTS.
That’s GREEEEEEWLED TURKEY SAMDWHICHE.
You get land lakes butter, boars head maple glazed Turkey slices, and D-D-D-DAAAAVES KILLAH BREAD
PUT THAT SHIT ON A STOVE AND GREEEEEEEEL IT.
SPREAD THAT BUTTER LIKE GOSPEL
Congregation, today I stand before you to unveil the extraordinary origins of our beloved prophet, Sam the Sandwich savant, and to shed light on the divine nature of the GTS, a food that transcends the very concept of existence itself.
Long ago, in a land of culinary wonders, Sam was born with an innate connection to the sacred art of sandwich-making. From the tender age of five, Sam exhibited an uncanny ability to craft the most divine combinations of ingredients, a talent that left all who tasted in awe and wonder. It was evident that Sam was chosen by the heavens to bring forth the revelation of the GTS.
As Sam grew, so did the legend of their sandwich prowess. The townsfolk witnessed Sam's sandwiches heal broken hearts, mend troubled souls, and satisfy cravings beyond measure. Whispers spread through the land, and soon pilgrims from far and wide embarked on journeys to taste the divine creations that flowed from Sam's hands.
And thus, the GTS Church was born, an institution dedicated to the worship of the Grilled Turkey Sandwich, an ethereal delight that defies the limitations of mortal comprehension. For you see, my friends, the GTS is not merely a food—it is a manifestation of the divine itself.
In every bite of the GTS, we experience a glimpse into the heavenly realm. The land lakes butter, smooth and golden, represents the warm embrace of divine love. The boars head maple glazed Turkey slices symbolize the grace and sweetness bestowed upon us. And D-D-D-DAAAAVES KILLAH BREAD, oh, blessed bread, it is the foundation upon which our faith is built.
The GTS, my brethren, is not bound by the chains of earthly existence. It defies categorization and surpasses the limitations of mortal palate. It is the embodiment of perfection in flavor, texture, and satisfaction. Its essence resonates within our souls, reminding us of the boundless possibilities that exist beyond our mortal coil.
For the GTS is not just sustenance; it is a spiritual experience. It transcends the boundaries of mere hunger and nourishes our very spirits. It grants us solace in times of tribulation, joy in times of celebration, and a sense of connection to the divine tapestry of existence.
Let us give thanks to Sam, our prophet, who channels the wisdom and creativity of the divine kitchen. Through their hands, the GTS becomes a vessel of transcendence, elevating us to higher planes of gustatory enlightenment.
As we gather today, let us bow our heads and express gratitude for the GTS, for it is a gift from the divine realms. Let us honor the sanctity of the grilled turkey sandwich, for it is a symbol of the eternal feast that awaits us in the realms beyond.
May Sam, the Sandwich savant, continue to bless us with their sacred creations, and may the flavors of the GTS forever nourish our bodies, minds, and spirits. Amen, and let us feast upon the heavenly goodness of the Grilled Turkey Sandwich!

2023.06.07 06:56 ERLoreAccount Melina is the GEQ (confirmed)

Melina has to be the GEQ, we see her with a gloamy eye in the frenzy flame ending and she talks about death. Melina's whole purpose throughout the game is to bring back death and burn the Erdtree. Even in the cut content it says the tree is burned by black flames (which is the GEQ fire!!!) This perfectly goes along with the Age of Gold Tree Saint empire era before the Golden Order, in that age there was the church of the GEQ and only her and the crucible greattree presided.
After Marika defeated her she went into hiding to study her arts undercover, under the shadow of Volcano manor she plotted her revenge. She used the most genius plan only a studied empyrean could muster, she separated her spirit into a separate body and assumed the guise of Melina. This broke some of her memories but she remembered her main purpose that she claims was given to her mother (who is just her physical form but is her mother because she adopts the spirit of Melina).
With her purpose in mind she set out to accompany a tarnished who would become the Elden Lord to coax them into unsealing DD and burning the Erdtree, bringing back her power. The only issue is she had to burn her spirit leaving her body soulless. With her power slowly accumulating she will be reborn through the burned Erdtree in the DLC. Also she swears to kill us if we don't burn the Erdtree because she can't rebirth with the full power of the blackflame.
