2023.04.01 19:31 ThePoliticalLibrary Books about workers, labor, the lower-classes, and left-wing politics in the United States and Canada (Books that are free to borrow and read online on the Internet Archive): Part 1

Disclaimer: The Internet Archive is currently undergoing litigation to determine the legality of its book lending program that is being challenged by major publishers. Impending legal action may render this list obsolete for the purpose of borrowing these books from the Internet Archive. To learn more, search up Hachette v. Internet Archive.
The format of this list previously took the form of a post with a chain of comments continuing the list due to character limits. This list is now divided into separate posts (which I believe would be easier to update and search) indicated as Part 1, Part 2, and so on.
The lending library of the Internet Archive allows you to renew your checkout immediately after the time for borrowing has elapsed, whether it's borrowable for 1 hour or 14 days. This selection of books will be updated. I recommend to those interested to check this post once a week for updates. This list has exceeded the character limit for this post. 2023.04.01 18:54 hopelessautisticnerd Lossless (and Winless) Teams: Day 2/?

Day 1
PREVIOUSLY ELIMINATED TEAMS:
TEAMS THAT DIDN'T PLAY YESTERDAY:
TEAMS ELIMINATED YESTERDAY:
Jesus Luzardo put up one of his better career starts, holding the Mets scoreless with just two hits through 5.2 innings. The offense did enough to bring home the season's first W, with Garrett Cooper leading the charge with three hits.
After being thoroughly stymied by Dustin May for seven innings, the Diamondbacks jumped on the first reliever they saw, putting up two game-winning runs on Alex Vesia. More encouraging than the win is the performances of the rookies; Drey Jameson threw four really good innings, Corbin Carroll had a two-hit game, Gabriel Moreno contributed one of his own. If the D-backs' group of young guys can get going, they have an outside shot at a wild card.
Hunter Gaddis (who the hell) gave up four runs in 3.2 innings, but the bullpen was nearly perfect and the offense did what it does best - sprayed the ball to all fields, picking up 9 runs on 13 hits in the process. Mariners fielding gaffes and Hunter Gaddis aside, this was a prototypical Guardians win and displays exactly why they're one of the most fun teams to watch in MLB.
Christian Javier was uncharacteristically shaky, giving up three runs on eight hits in five innings. However, the Astros offense woke up on the correct side of the bed this time and managed at least one run on three of five White Sox Pitchers, while their own bullpen kept things thoroughly locked down.
Starter David Peterson was perhaps a bit lucky, keeping the Marlins to one run despite eight hits and a walk, but the offense was held to just four hits in a 2-1 game that did not feel nearly that close.
The good news: Dustin May, newly recovered from Tommy John, put up the young season's best start and looked excellent doing so. The bad news: another 2-1 game where a good offense was held to a run on five hits. Those games happen, but this one wasn't pretty.
The bats, while not exactly clutch, did their jobs, with Yoan Moncada putting up a three-hit game. However, the bullpen just couldn't stop leaking runs. At least Lynn looked pretty good.
I think everyone except Jerry Dipoto knew that Ray was a prime regression candidate. He is just not a fun pitcher to watch, speaking as someone who has seen most of his pitches in a Mariners uniform. You just feel on edge the whole time; it's not a fun feeling. I suggest we trade him and Muñoz to the Mets for a promising outfield prospect. Speaking of promising outfield prospects from the Mets, Kelenic hit an opposite-field double and generally looked good at the plate again.
TEAMS THAT HAVE YET TO LOSE:
Kyle Freeland put up six scoreless with three hits and a jump throw. The offense was once again potent, and the Rockies have the best record in MLB. sustainable
TEAMS THAT HAVE YET TO WIN:
Most people are very leery of this team's pitching. In the pitching staff's defense, the offense has also sucked, with Ha-seong Kim accounting for 60% of the team's hits this game. Of course they will recover, but their stars have not looked very good in the first two games to start the year.
Teams alive: 30 -> 22

2023.04.01 04:04 Proletlariet Bionic Commando Backup 2

"Power is like a bionic upgrade. Anyone can get it, but it takes true wisdom to use it for good."
In the 1980s, 'Project Albatross' was discovered by the Imperial State, which are definitely not and have no relation to Nazis (so long as you're playing the game outside of Japan). While they try and enact the plan, the US-like Republic (already at war with the Imperial State) send the renown commando Super Joe behind enemy lines to try and bring a stop to it. He failed, getting captured. As such, a second commando was chosen to both carry on his original plan as well as to perform a one-man rescue mission: Nathan (or Rad) Spencer. But it wasn't just his skills, talents, and weaponry that allowed him to rescue Joe, put a stop to the Imperial State, and kill a reanimated Hitler Master-D. He had a bionic arm, which can grapple things. Beyond this base story, each different canon tells a different interpretation of events.
Every individual canon is listed separately below, with different sources within the same canon being tagged separately. Elements of the Rearmed games appear in the 2009 remake (characters introduced in Rearmed appear in 2009, Rearmed 2's ending lays out the public mistrust in bionics and Joe's betrayal of Spenser which is a key part in the remake), implying they may be in the same canon, but with the lack of direct confirmation on this as well as the radical difference between the games they are listed separately.

2023.04.01 03:02 katkit000 Broken Coffin/Pedal Bone Experience

My horse had a fall about 4 weeks ago and went severely lame on her left front. The vet initially diagnosed radial nerve paralysis and thought she had an abscess given that she wasn’t putting much weight on her foot. After 2 weeks, when no abscess emerged we did some x-rays and found she had fractured her coffin bone. We got her to the equine hospital the next day and had her hoof in a cast the day after that. Within a couple of days she was able to put weight back on the leg and within a week she was able to stand on it long enough the we were able to trim and shoe the opposite foot, as well as check for deterioration in that foot. She’s standing 100 times better since getting the cast but she’s still pretty lame at the walk, though slightly better the last two days. The team at the hospital would like to see her appearing mostly sound at the walk before moving forward. I’m having trouble finding any videos or information about horses in early recovery from an injury like this. Wondering if anyone has had a similar experience? And if so, how long before your horse was walking at least somewhat normally?

2023.04.01 00:45 harleykegelson Does this sound like TN??

A little over 2 weeks ago I had a filling done on the upper left side of my mouth. My dentist said it was deep and had nerve exposure, but he seemed confident that we avoided a root canal. The next few days I was still super sore, but figured it was just because the work was so deep.
A few nights ago I couldn’t fall asleep because I was in so much pain. My lymph nodes were swollen (on the opposite side of my face from where the work was done) and the pain was all over. My jaw, traveling up my face, and in my inner ears. I went back to the dentist the next day and he said I may just need a root canal. He took more X-rays and said that it doesn’t look like a root canal is necessary but basically that’s all he could think would be the problem.
Fast forward to today… my lower left jaw is now hurting and sending shooting pain up my face and down my neck. I’ve never needed a root canal so I’m not sure what that kind of pain would feel like? So maybe that is what I’m experiencing?
I’ve been taking Advil and Tylenol basically nonstop and it just never kicks in. The radiating shooting pain up my face makes me feel like it could be TN but I would love to hear everyone’s thoughts. Also maybe some advice to get the pain to stop? Because no meds are working so far.
Thanks in advance!!
