She displayed a deep committed to her family. This includes being the loving wife to inventor, entrepreneur and American icon Thomas Edison. She was also a loving and dedicated mother.
In addition, Mina demonstrated a strong passion for her community with the endless organizations that she contributed a tremendous amount of time and energy.
Mina was born into an entrepreneurial family on July 6, 1865. As the Miller family continued to grow, Mina was the seventh of eleven children born to inventor Lewis Miller and Mary Alexander. Her parents had a love for education. Mina attended and graduated from Akron High School in Ohio. After high school, she went on to study at a home and day school in Boston.

Mina’s Father the Inventor and Founder

Mina Miller Edison was born into a family that was used to being in the spotlight. Lewis Miller was a successful inventor. He also became one of the founders of Chautauqua Institution. The Miller family spent summers in their home along Chautauqua Lake. Her families love for Chautauqua was passed down to Mina. Therefore, when she had a family of her own she brought them to her family home at Chautauqua Institition.
Mina’s father and husband both had a passion for inventing. However, what they chose to invent was different from one another. While Thomas concentrated on technology and electronics, Lewis focused on farm equipment. They shared the common goal of making life easier with their inventions.

Chautauqua Institution

Chautauqua Institution sets on the shores of beautiful Chautauqua Lake in southwestern New York State. The Institution was originally called the Chautauqua Lake Sunday School Assembly. It was founded in 1874 as an educational experiment in out-of-school, vacation learning by industrialist Lewis Miller and Methodist Bishop John Heyl Vincent. Marriage to Thomas Edison

When Mina Miller met Thomas Edison, she was promised to her gentleman suitor, George Vincent, the son of Bishop Vincent. Edison learned that Mina would be staying the summer at Chautauqua, he arranged to spend time there to win her and meet her family. Thomas Edison’s hearing was badly compromised by this time from when he was a child so he taught Mina to send and receive Morse code. That summer, he used it to ask her to marry him. He tapped “Will you Marry Me?” on Mina’s hand, and she said “Yes.”
The next step was getting permission from Mina’s Father Lewis, to which Thomas wrote this:
“I trust you will not accuse me of egotism when I say that my life and history and standing are so well known as to call for no statement concerning myself. My reputation is so far made that I recognize I must be judged by it for good or ill. I need only add in conclusion that the step I have taken in asking your daughter to entrust her happiness into my keeping has been the result of mature deliberation, and with the full appreciation of the responsibility and the duty I have undertaken to fulfill. I do not deny that your answer will seriously affect my happiness, and I trust my suit will meet with your approval.”
This letter won the approval of Mr. Miller. The date for the wedding was set for February 24, 1886, hardly more than a year after they met. She was only 20 years old. Oak Place, the Miller home in Akron, was to be the site of the wedding. Father Miller and his Mary Valinda spared no expense in seeing that the nuptials were an occasion to be remembered.

Managing a Home Full of Staff and Children

When Mina and Thomas Edison got married she was much younger then her husband. She became the stepmother to his three children. Still being young herself she was not fully ready for motherhood. However, Mina Miller Edison took charge of the household. Often times Thomas was not around due to his work. This left Mina in charge of hiring the house staff as well as raising the children. Furthermore, she gave herself the title of “home executive”. Mina also held ownership of Glenmont. The home she shared with Thomas. Owning and managing her own home was the first of many successes for Mina.

Children of Her Own

Two years after their marriage Mina and Thomas added to their family with their first child, Madeleine. This started the same pattern of children Thomas had with his first wife. Their daughter was soon followed by two sons, Charles and Theodore.

Madeleine Edison

Madeleine was born on May 31st, 1888, the first child born to Mina. She was born in Glenmont, the Edison Family home in New Jersey. Madeleine married John Eyre Sloane. She married him in the Drawing Room at Glenmont on June 17, 1914. Madeleine and John had four sons, who happened to be Thomas Edison’s only grandchildren from either marriage.
Madeleine briefly ran for Congress in 1938, she sadly lost. During World War II she gave much of her time to blood drives for the New Jersey Red Cross. She also administered the Edison Birthplace in Milan, Ohio after her mother’s death. She died on February 14, 1979.

Charles Edison

Charles Edison was born into the Edison Family at the Glenmont on August 3, 1890. He married Carolyn Hawkins, whom he had met in 1912 then married on March 27, 1918. Finally, he became president of his father’s company, Thomas A. Edison, Incorporated, in 1927. He ran the company until it was sold in 1959.
Charles is the best known because of his second career, in public service. In the mid-1930s he served in the cabinet of President Franklin Roosevelt. First as Assistant Secretary of the Navy, then as Acting Secretary. New Jersey voters elected him as their governor in 1940. He also founded a charitable foundation that now bears his name, the Charles Edison Fund. He died on July 31, 1969

Theodore Miller Edison

Theodore Miller Edison was the last to be born at Glenmont on July 10, 1898. He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, from which he earned his physics degree in 1923. He was the only member of the Edison family to graduate from college.
Theodore did work for his father’s company after graduation. After starting as an ordinary lab assistant, he worked his way up to technical director of research and engineering for Thomas A. Edison, Inc. He eventually founded his own company, Calibron Industries, Inc. Also, he built his own smaller laboratory in West Orange. Theodore earned over 80 patents in his career. In 1925 he married Anna Maria Osterhout, a graduate of Vassar. He became an ardent environmentalist. Theodore lived in West Orange with his wife Anna until his death on November 24, 1992.

Mina’s Step-Children

With the marriage between Thomas and Mina, she took on his three children from the first marriage. Marion, twelve years old, Thomas, Jr. ten years old, and William Leslie eight years old. She continued to struggle with her relationship with her stepdaughter. Mina’s stepchildren did not take education as seriously as she did. They believed that Edison’s fame could make their future for them. Finally, due to this belief, Mina’s stepchildren went on to live less acclaimed lives as the other Edison children.

Marion Estelle Edison

Marion was the first born of Thomas Edison’s children. She was born on February 18, 1873, and gained the nickname “Dot” as a child after Morse Code. In 1895 she married Karl Oscar Oeser, a German army lieutenant. They lived in Germany through the First World War. Unfortunately, her marriage ended in divorce in 1921. Finally, she then returned to the United States, where she died on April 16, 1965.

Thomas Alva Edison Jr

Thomas Alva, Junior, was born on January 10, 1876. He had the nickname “Dash” after Morse Code like his sister. He went on to marry stage actress Marie Louise Toohey in 1899. However, the marriage ended within a year. He next married Beatrice Heyzer. Thomas Jr sold the use of his name to advertise “quack” medicines and dubious inventions. His father disapproved of this and eventually asked him to change his name. Thomas Jr. briefly went by the name of Thomas Willard. His efforts at inventing and starting a mushroom farm failed. Finally, he died on August 25, 1935.

William Leslie Edison

William Leslie was born on October 26, 1878. He went to school at St. Paul’s School, Concord, New Hampshire. Then also attended J.M.Hawkins School on Staten Island. He later studied at the Sheffield scientific school at Yale. William soon married Blanche Travers. William Edison served in the military during the Spanish-American War in 1898. He also served again in the First World War. Like his brother he turned to farm life, breeding chickens. Finally, he died on August 10, 1937.

Chautauqua Institute and Mina’s Influence

Mina’s father’s love for Chautauqua was passed down to his daughter. Mina dedicated herself to many organizations locally. She supported many land and wildlife conservation. Often times Mina would donate her own funds to projects for Chautauqua. Mina became a trustee of the institute. Others involved in Chautauqua held Mina in high regards. Also much like her father, Mina continued her involvement with her beloved Institute until her passing in 1947.

I nervously clicked my claws against the wooden table as I waited for the rest of the invitees to arrive. The UN had brought me to the senate building privately so as to not cause panic, and I was grateful. I only hoped that the people whom I was going to be working with wouldn’t freak out at my appearance.
The war against the Federation and the subjugation of the Arxur by the Dominion had ended shortly after my birth, but the effects of the past few centuries of conflict could not be eliminated in such a short amount of time. Societal ideals have to be rewritten over long stretches of time by strong people with strong will, and there simply hasn’t been enough time to do so. As a result, though it has been many years since the last battle against the Arxur, it was still uncommon to see any outside of the space they already inhabited, and still VERY common to see hatred and fear of us among Fed species. It has always been my ultimate goal to show those who fear us just how similar we are, that is why I sacrificed everything to attend the Meiers Institute of Knowledge.
On the Arxur’s side of the societal coin, it was social suicide to interact with “prey” species willingly. [Oh how I hate that word.] Most of the elders of our society could not get over their hatred of the Federation species, despite the fact that they were under just as much, if not MORE subjugation than we were. When I made the decision to go and learn at MIK, I was shunned from all social groups at home. Not that there even were many, most Arxur rarely interacted with each other if they could help it.
MIK was a chance for me to experience new ideas and try new things. For once, I wasn’t discriminated against because I had front-facing eyes and scary teeth, and I learned just how much I loved socializing with like-minded people. I was finally allowed to let my love for knowledge flourish in a way that other Arxur would never have condoned. I graduated some time later with several degrees and a doctorate in paleontology.
Though to some, the idea of digging up bones and putting them together like a puzzle seemed macabre, it felt liberating to me. I felt like I truly understood the value of life and death. I could look at the cracked tooth of an ancient ancestor of the Arxur or the fossilized chitin of one of the Tilfish’s predecessors and identify a pattern, showing the divergent evolution they underwent to achieve their current form. I could see the similarities all life inherently had. Sometimes the similarities between us were shocking, and occasionally it was kind-of scary, but that only made me more passionate about my work.
I assume that is why the UN decided to send me a job offer 3 weeks ago. When I received it I was ECSTATIC at the prospect. The UN government sending ME, a small-time nobody Arxur paleontologist, an invitation to work with them? If I could tell my past self what I would be up to now, I would almost certainly scoff at myself. Even as I boarded my UN funded private ship to Aafa I was subconsciously wondering if it was some elaborate prank. My thoughts were interrupted as I heard footsteps from the other side of the door. This is it, I’m about to meet my partners, please don’t run away screaming.
A human, a venlil, and a gojid stood in the doorway staring at me. The gojid seemed slightly fearful but hid it well, the human and venlil however just seemed confused. [Okay, okay, they didn’t scream at me. That’s a good start.] The three, along with their escort, settled into chairs at the table I sat at, looking at me expectantly. I straightened my posture and prepared myself mentally to greet them. “H-hi, my name is Tassak. Are you the other three invitees?” The human sitting across from me spoke. “Yes. I hope I don’t offend by saying this but I wasn’t expecting an Arxur invitee.” He raised an eyebrow as he ended his sentence. He quickly started talking again, probably to try and explain his reasoning. “Sorry, I-I mean, don’t the Arxur frown upon interacting with “prey” species?” The venlil and gojid looked at me as I thought of a response. “Yes, they do. I had to cut a lot of ties to get into this profession. Let’s get introductions out of the way please.” “Alright, my name is James. I’m 31 years old. I was born on Earth and now live on Venlil prime. I went to MIK to become a historian. My diet is mainly coffee but occasionally I drink coffee as a treat.” The man smiled as he awaited our amusement, but it never came. James’ smirk faded and he coughed into his hand before continuing. “I was invited along with my friend Lemva, she’s the venlil next to me, and Cayek, he’s the gojid to your right.”
I exhaled quietly, James seemed friendly enough. “My name is Tassak, as I said before. I’m 29. I got a doctorate in paleontology at the Meiers Institute of Knowledge, along with some other degrees. I hail from Wriss I currently live on Earth.” As I finished my statement, I couldn’t help but criticize the way I spoke. [Why did I talk so rigidly, ughhh! My first impressions are going terribly!] James spoke up. “Wait, did we all come from MIK? Weird coincidence huh?” I could tell he was trying to ease the tension in the room. “I thought I would’ve noticed a giant lizard guy walking around campus.” Wait, did he call me a guy? “Uh, I’m a girl, actually.” I spoke timidly. The man before me became as red as a fresh cut of steak. His embarrassment was plainly visible, which I found amusing, it lessened my anxiety slightly.
The venlil that James had referred to as Lemva spoke up, changing the subject. “Weelll… Anyhow, my name is Lemva as James told you. I’m 30 years old. I’m an archaeologist and got my doctorate from MIK. My current home is on Earth but I’ve lived a little bit of everywhere. Me and James have been friends for a long time, we met in the institute’s history club.” Everyone focused their attention onto Cayek as Lemva’s introduction concluded. It took several seconds for him to compose himself. I could tell that my presence was uncomfortable for him, and him being seated closest to me of the three people probably exacerbated that feeling. I didn’t blame him for his fear, but it still stung a little. He gulped and started talking.
“My name is Cayek. I’m a 41 year old linguist who also went to MIK for my doctorate. I was born on the Cradle, was taken in at a young age by the UN after it got bombed, and was offered a home in one of the cities constructed by the Cradle Re-colonization Project, where I now live.” The man stopped talking and I thought he was done, but he straightened his posture and started speaking again. “I just want to get this out of the way before it causes trouble later down the line.” He spoke with a sigh. “I was born in a… you could call it a “hostile” household. My family raised me during a time when hate against… “people who were different” was acceptable. My upbringing cemented a couple habits into me that I’ve been trying to chip away at, so to speak, ever since I saw the sheer good that mankind is capable of. I’ve been attempting to be more open to new ideas ever since. Hell, I even took the anti-cure and tried some-” He gulped. “-non-herbivore cuisine, to get some perspective. So if I accidentally say or do something offensive to you please tell me, I truly want to leave that part of me behind.” As he ended his speech, he slouched and let out a breath he had been holding in. I was surprised by his honesty.
James and Lemva both processed the information. I responded first. “Thank you. You have no idea how much anxiety dropped off my shoulders just now. I was worried you’d all run away at first sight of me or treat me like some bloodthirsty beast. I very much appreciate the effort you’re putting into reforming.” James spoke after me. “I appreciate it too. After all these riots it’s such a breath of fresh air to meet a person that won’t cry if I look at them.” In the past 10 minutes, this man had crammed in jokes at any time he could. I think I’m gonna like him. I could tell that the joke came from a place of sadness though, I could see the sadness in his eyes.
James started to look impatient, he tapped his fingers on the table in a rhythmic pattern while he checked his holopad for the time. “I thought we were here for a job offer. How long is this gon-” The sound of the heavy wooden door opening filled the room, as a small group of well-dressed men and women filed in through the doorway. As my eyes scanned over each person who entered, my heart skipped a beat and I jolted upward to attempt a human salute as I spotted President Zhao at the tail-end of the group. [What the fuck? Why is he meeting with us?] The other three followed my gaze and stood to salute as well. In his surprise, James nearly fell over. My three partners were as equally dumbstruck as I by the sudden appearance of the head of the government.
President Zhao took on a small amused smirk as he witnessed James straighten himself out. “At ease. You may take a seat.” We did as he commanded. “Welcome to the Capitol. It’s good to see that you all accepted your invitations. I can see from your confused expressions that you probably want some answers, so let’s get started.” As Zhao took a seat at the head of the table, one of the men who had accompanied him lifted a briefcase from his side and placed it delicately on the table. The man inputted a code into a small keypad and the briefcase unlocked with a click. Inside was a holo-projector, which the man placed on the center of the table. “Before we begin, our four guests will need to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement, the information spoken of in this meeting must never leave this room.” Another of the officials, a small woman in a black dress, passed four holopads to us, which we promptly wrote our signatures into. The holopads were collected and Zhao spoke. “Excellent. You’re probably all curious about the reason we invited you specifically for this opportunity, why all the security measures and guards, why we’re trying to keep this under such tight wraps.” The holo-projector on the table switched on and briefly displayed the Coalition logo, before transitioning to a hologram of Talsk, the Farsul homeworld. “As you know, for hundreds of years the Federation had been keeping archives filled with classified knowledge and confiscated or outright stolen items. On the nineteenth of june, approximately four weeks ago, after extensive search efforts, we found the motherlode. The Federation had kept many archives but this one was special. It wasn’t a library, it was a vault, built to hide away the Federation's darkest secrets forever. Buried under several kilometers of rock and deep ocean, the Federation sealed away items and information that, if released, could possibly threaten their hold over the galaxy.”
The holo-projector transitioned to a diagram depicting the archive, there was no entrance-way and no exit, just kilometers of water and stone between it and the surface. The hologram zoomed in on the archive, showing a more detailed view of the gargantuan structure. It consisted of several levels, each with a number of chambers housing items or information. At the very bottom of the structure, one chamber stood out among the rest. 10 meter thick walls of an ultra-hard titanium alloy encased a small cell filled with toxic gas. Suspended in the middle of the chamber by hundreds of metal rods was a vacuum-sealed prism of diamond. Finally, inside the prism was a small metal cube along with a holopad.
I felt a chill down my spine as I studied the intricate carvings etched upon the surface of the artifact. I could tell that the carvings were of some language, but it did not match any that I could think of. “Within the records, this artifact was designated as Class-Hydrogen1. The Federation’s information classification system is far too complex to discuss in full, but in summary, the more important something is, the closer to 1 the atomic number of the element it is assigned will be. The classification is then proceeded by a 1 or 2, 1 signifies dangerous information and 2 signifies dangerous materials. For example, in this same archive we discovered an experimental and dangerous singularity generator with a classification of Fluorine2, which has an atomic number of 9.”
“To put into perspective how scary the idea of a Class-Hydrogen designation is, the second highest classification object on record is a self-powered anti-grav receptacle of strange matter. Strange matter will turn any other matter it touches into more strange matter, I shouldn’t have to explain why that is incredibly dangerous. The receptacle was classified as a Carbon2. There are 4 classifications between Hydrogen and Carbon and none of them are being used.” My blood ran cold as I listened. What power could this artifact possibly hold? The question in my mind was quickly replaced by another. Why are WE the ones being told this? Before the window of opportunity ended, I opened my mouth to speak.
“Permission to speak, sir?” Zhao looked at me and nodded. “I still have a question, and I’m sure my partners do too, but why us? Why did you choose to tell us this instead of someone more qualified?” “I’m glad you reminded me.” I heard the clacking of a keyboard as one of the men beside the President switched the holo-projector to a different tab. A close-up of the cube appeared, showing the four sides of the object.
The first side depicts a bipedal creature covered in spikes turning their back on two similar figures cloaked in blood and flames. The creature holds a defiant posture. Flames trail behind them, turning to embers, then to smoke, and then fading entirely.
The second side depicts a small fluffy figure being chased by a dark version of themselves across a variety of settings and locations.
The third side depicts a large being covered in scales bound in chains kneeling on an altar, their arms being stretched to two different sides. On one side a crowd of identical creatures and on the other side a crowd composed of different figures of varying shapes and sizes, both sides pointing weapons at the central figure.
The final scene depicts a man screaming in anger and sorrow pointing a dagger toward a small creature with bloodied hands. Tears stream down his face. A man and woman lie dead in the background.

The build for patch 1.4 has been sent out, which means that the platform holders for the consoles will review the build, and find any possible issues. Once they give us a green light, the patch is ready to be published on the the planned date, which for 1.4 is June 19th.

A new Season

With patch 1.4 comes Season 4: Splash up! Like you can probably guess, this is a Season filled with pool parties, beach sunsets, chill activities and summer fun.

It’s a Season for splashing around and not fighting the current, but rather following it! There will be two events during this Season, one of them our first ever Pride event, that comes with some extra freebies, and another secret one later along the road, which will make the delight of players who love their Tems!
Also, there’s a slight change to Seasons’ length from this patch onward: Seasons will now last a month longer. We’d like to have more time to polish the content we put out. Some features have gotten out of hand and were becoming too big to cleanly launch in three months, leaving us with no leeway to fix issues or quickly react to unforeseen circumstances. There’s always something popping up from behind us, be it bugs, failures in the certification process, unexpected interactions… so we’d like to have some time to polish both the current patch and previous patches that might need our attention, without that eating into the next Season and patch’s time.
With this, Season 4 will last from June 19th to September 25th, when Season 5 will begin.

The Arcade Bar has been postponed

Some bad news, but we promise it’s only this one! Due to development load and unexpected delays, we’re postponing the Arcade Bar. It’s a huge task, both technically and artistically, so we’re waiting on a more suitable season. We understand this might make 1.4 less interesting for PvE players , but we try to balance PvE and PvP each season. Since last patch, 1.3, had the Challenge Modes, and 1.5 will have the new Mythical, with it’s Lair, quest and route, patch 1.4 is more PvP oriented. We’re, at the time, unable to confirm for which patch it’ll be scheduled, but we’re currently looking at 1.6 or 1.7, since 1.5 is packed. We’ll let you know as soon as we have that secured and well decided.

Dojo Wars v2

Dojo Wars have long been a prickly topic within the community, so a few months ago we asked for your focused feedback on the matter. Following that conversation, we’ve made a handful of changes to Dojo Wars that we hope will make them a bit more enjoyable and less demanding to keep up with:
Dojo Wars will now take place monthly instead of weekly. The sign-up period where players can subscribe to a Dojo War will be a week instead of a day, and it’ll be the week before the Dojo Wars take place. Clubs who sign up for a DW but don’t show up on the actual Wars will be penalized by taking Pansuns away from their Club Vault.
The King of the Hill system that allowed current regents to only fight in the finals has been discarded. Regents will have to compete for the Dojo again from 0 with everyone else.
Besides changes to the main format, there are also several more changes that concern Dojo Wars rounds:
  • The matchmaking system will now prioritize to battle different players in each round, instead of matching players purely based on points. If a player has already faced another specific player, the system will prioritize not matching them again over their points.
  • The timing of rounds has changed as well. Instead of having a set date for all matches, rounds will start 5 minutes after the last combat of the previous round has ended. That is, once the last match of the round ends, a 5-minute timer sets off, and commences the next round. This means you’ll have to pay attention during the day of your rounds, but rounds will be much faster and dynamic.
  • Dojo Wars finals will require 9 players instead of the previous 11.
  • Players will now also get individual rewards for each match won during Dojo Wars, on top of the Club rewards they might get. Individual rewards include juicy stuff like ETCs, hotfixes, Feathers and even Novas.
Important notice! The first week of the patch would overlap with the first week of Dojo Wars, and with this new system it wouldn’t work. For this reason, there won’t be a Dojo War in the month of June, and the first Dojo War will be on the week of July 24-30. This means the last Club to hold the 1.3 Dojos on the week of June 12th to 18th will hold them for an entire month. They’d only get the rewards for the week they play, but they’ll keep control of Dojo Parks.

Recommended teams on Showdown

During this last patch cycle we’ve been considering how to make it easier for players new to PvP to jump into the competitive scene, as we consider PvP to be a really strong suit of Temtem, but we know how hard to fully grasp it can be. That’s why, working with the balance helper team and the new analytics we’ve been working on, we have created an automatic recommendation system and some pre-defined builds to choose from; both will surely help make the jump into Ranked ladder much easier and interesting.
When you head over to Showdown to create a Ranked Showdown squad and choose your first Temtem, you’ll now be offered recommendations. The system will suggest Tem options as you go building your team, and it will shift and readjust its recommendations to accommodate the Tems you choose. The analytics that power this system drink from the actual PvP players of the game and what they’re building, so they’ll change and adapt to each Season.
After picking each Tem you’ll be able to fully customize it, as usual, but there will also be two pre-defined builds for each Temtem (single evo, or the last stage of the evo line). These builds have been made to cover their most common roles in Ranked matches, and sometimes it’ll incorporate two different roles, or one same role in a different way. These builds were hand-made by our balance team, keeping in mind the current meta, so they’ll be updated as it changes!
Both of these systems are fully integrated within Showdown, so it only works on Showdown squads. Of course, we encourage you to investigate on the reasoning behind these recommendations, as learning a new playstyle is complex and takes time but it’s the only way to know how to make it work. We hope this will help onboard new players into PvP!

To top this off, we’ve also been working on a series of official video tutorials for players who want to have a guide to take that next step into competitive. It has been created with a lot of help from our pro community, and it covers the less evident, more complex strategies that are played in the higher tiers of the Ranked ladder.

Changes to the rotating Premium Store

The Premium, rotating store will now have 2 Premium item slots as opposed to 3. In exchange for this, we’ve duplicated the daily item rotation, from 4 to 8. As it already happens, 2 slots out of those 8 will be purchasable with Feathers, following the current pattern.
We’ve noticed the 3 featured items were always unbalanced between each other, and that the rhythm was hard to sustain for both purchasing players and the dev team. We’re giving you more options on the daily, because soon the items from previous Tamer Passes will start population them and it’ll be a huge pool, and we’ll be spacing out the featured ones so we can have more time. We’ll still be working on them, and nothing has been scrapped out, it will only take a little longer to appear in the weekly featured shop.
Plus! The mounts available through the Premium Store and the Tamer Pass (both free and premium) will let you pre-visualize the surf version of the mount before you buy it. No more asking about the surf version in the Discord server! We know there’s more pre-visualization stuff to work through, but we hope this is a step towards clarity and that it’ll be good!

Battle camera toggle option

Following community feedback, we’ve decided to include a battle camera toggle option in patch 1.4. You’ll be able to turn on and off your idle battle cameras from the Settings option in the main menu! Although this is not a huge change to the game as a whole, we understand it’s very important for some players and wanted to give it a bit of a spotlight here, since we know some peeps are really hoping for this.

Sponsoring community-created events

Historically, us at Crema have not been able to support or sponsor community-run events, because we lacked a way to do so without getting in legal shenanigans and because we were too caught up in development. In the past month we received a petition from a community member to let them split their TemCS prize into more codes so they could give them as prizes in a tournament they were organizing. This sparked a conversation, and we’ve decided to create an official form to ask Crema for prizes to encourage and motivate people to take part in community-made events. This doesn’t mean we’re going to be supporting all the events that pop up, but we’re hoping to be able to help a little and champion the events we love and would like to see more of.

There are some rules to all this, like prizes can only be already existing in-game items, that the community-run event has to fit certain standards, and that we’ll keep the right to choose what events we support. We’re also for now only considering events that have a reputable and trusty history, so we encourage you to create community events of your own and share them in our community-event channel!

A huge surprise one week after launch!

There’s something else, an extra new thing, coming a week after 1.4 that we haven’t done before and are very excited and nervous about! We’ve been secretly working on it for a while now, and it’s taken a toll on our development time so we’re really eager to talk about it, but it’s not the right time yet. It’s arguably a new feature to the game, and we believe it’ll help us expand Temtem, its userbase and its longevity. It won’t be as exciting as a proper new feature for existing players, but we hope everyone will join us in the excitement this represents and the shared goals it covers. Since it won’t be available until one week later, expectedly on the 27th, we hope you’ll help us build up hype for the new players this will (hopefully!) attract, and that you’ll show them around.

After PPL, I transitioned to DA40 (IO360 version) and have been building up my time in it. DA40 has slightly different airspeeds (Vy, Vg, and approach speed, etc.) depending on the weight and usually (at my local club) people just make a conservative estimation.
As I'm planning to purchase my own DA40 (still on-going), I thought: maybe it is worthwhile to make a single-page, offline, all-in-one calculator that can quickly calculate everything given the loads and weather.
Without much hesitation, I took a stab and even managed to faithfully use the takeoff distance chart from AFM for calculation.
Right now, this calculator supports:
- Calculating W&B, and use green vs red to warn you if CG is outside the envelope.
- Using weight (mass) to derive the important airspeeds.
- Using weight, together with OAT, Pressure Altitude, headwind component to determine takeoff/landing distance.
This is still an on-going effort, and I do plan to fully open-source it on GitHub (it is actually already open-sourced as it is just a web page that runs locally on many devices).
The design philosophy is let the user quickly put in the values (and may fiddle with them) to see the calculated outputs, and also be able to save the configuration into the URL (yes! it's "magical" as you don't need to keep any files, just copy the link after clicking "save" button). So it is easy to share the configuration and work on some existing ones.

This subreddit will be joining in on the June 12th-14th protest of Reddit's API changes that will essentially kill all 3rd party Reddit apps.

What's going on?

A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31st, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface.
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free. Both mods here use 3rd party apps to be able to moderate this subreddit.
In addition to the price hike, the API changes are going to limit or remove NSFW and 18+ communities from the API so 3rd party apps will not be able to see that content. I know this subreddit in particular is generally sensitive to this kind of censorship situation, but even more than the blatant censorship issue, this means moderators would be required to use the official app and its poor moderation tools to be able to effectively moderate their communities on mobile devices. Which is the majority of the moderation that this mod team does.

What's the plan?

On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit and our communities, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.

At least her hair won’t be hanging down into her food she’s trying to cook in the kitchen with this venture. She shows us what amounts to a couple of slides, basically, of clothes for sale on this website. $70 per shirt $140 for a dress, and there’s nothing to really write home about their just kind like middle-age baby doll dresses. Jingle is so excited about S. Deer though and we get to see her take time out of her busy mom schedule and try the sample box on because it is super important for busy moms. Exactly why it is “super” important unclear, but I would be “super” wasted if I made a game to go along with every time she said “super”. She goes on to explain that busy moms need “super stylish” and comfortable clothes. Only busy moms need stylish and comfortable, sorry “Super Stylish” clothes and everybody else can fuck right off apparently and choose to be comfortable OR stylish. And clothes need to be adorable also. Is this how the “MacArthur wife” practices “highlighting her countenance”? Comfortable, “super” stylish and adorable? I guess Perm never taught them the word P – R – A – C – T – I – C – A – L, because that’s what I prioritized back when Baby Swiss was an actual baby.

Jingle says that for reference she is a size small, and 5’4” tall, it is so easy to find out that she was a small based on their website and everything fit her perfectly. So perfectly that she includes her codes, yes codes, so that they can fit you just as perfectly. You busy mom, you. Even though she has two codes the first one is not as generous as JimBlessa’s 65% off code, Jingle’s first code is only 15% off. Her second code is also nowhere near JimBlessa’s but it is 20% if you buy two or more items.

Holy shit y’all, that was the intro. A full 2:30 seconds of a 10 minute vlog was her intro. I thought this video was progressing! I’m just being dramatic you guys, but I wasn’t prepared for it to be a full fifth of the entire blog, quarter of it if you take out the two theme songs/montages. The runtime is literally 10 minutes and one seconds I wonder if there’s a minimum for S. Deer and she was struggling to fill the time. Anyways, let’s get this fashion show on the road, shall we? First up, what Jingle calls a “drop sleeve cropped shirt”. And it looks like a black button up with a pointed Pilgrim collar on bateau neck line. She hasn’t shown us anything but the coller and the sleeves down to the elbow, so I’ll take her word on the crop part. She loves this shirt, it’s a staple because she can wear it in the 90° heat. It’s also going to be a staple because she can dress it up or down or left or curly cue or sideways. It’s that damn versatile. It’s a black button up with extra buttons on the cuff, of course it’s versatile. A decent black sweater does the exact same thing. Dress it up slacks, dress it down with jeans. But she really, really likes the “awesome V the of the collar”. Why does everything Jingle says feels like she’s trying to meet the word minimum of an essay? Is this how Jere-Maw made her his little Eliza Doolittle, by making her right essays all the time as they discussed how the Lord would be represented in their marriage, or whatever the hell they say. Anyways, Jingle says that she would dress this up “with a linen pant and a heel”. Wonder what “Eye Trap Bitch” has to say about this advice. I doubt this crop top is going to be paired with anything that isn’t “high-waisted” or “maxi”. For the next advice, dressing it down, right on cue to give me 2 for lighter 2 she says “lighter jeans or a high-wasted pant” and sneakers. Oh, she’s going to back up and show us her entire outfit now. She has this silky looking button up blouse paired with high-waisted black joggers and white sneakers. You can also wear it with “a T-shirt, I feel like a T-shirt would be perfect” she says and I’m really hoping that she meant under the blouse because otherwise I can’t tell if she’s trying to sell us the blouse the blouse or not at this point. Oh nope, we have gone straight into trying to sell the pants. I didn’t know the pants were part of this. Anyway, she goes out about their elastic waist and drawstring that she calls a “band”. Is it going to be 3 for 3, and you can get the sneaks from S.Deer also? No clue yet, but she repeats that these are a size small.

Next she’s going to try on wait for it, a black maxi dress. When she holds it up it looks like something a Handmaid would wear to a funeral. It’s apparently “Personality Monogram crew neck” dress, and there’s strap going to the sleeve and around her arm. The strap says “the clothing itself is living and breathing the body is like a canvas”. Why in the name of pretention is going on here? Shouldn’t have a “Godly” message? She loves the message, she loves that it’s unique, she loves the elastic strap with words, she loves that it is sleeveless, and she loves it’s a midi dress. A shapeless sack of a sleeveless “midi dress”. Seriously, it looks like a reusable garbage bag. She says is very breathable, I say the hem is very uneven. One side is knee length, the other side is ankle length. It looks hideous but she’s going to be wearing it *tongue click* “all summer long”, so as long as she’s happy…

Is is a tarp? Is it a recycled hair salon cape? It looks waterproof as fuck whatever it is.
Next up we have a white dress that looks like it was used to paint a daycare classroom because of the splotches of gray and blue. It’s cuter than the last dress but still something you could find on the rack at Macy’s. She calls it address “without sleeves”, I guess she hit her word quota for “sleeveless”. She says it’s more of a midi dress and she’s right this time. The hem is at least all the way around at her mid-calf. It’s paired with some nice “tall” heels, the dress is a size small in case you missed it, she’s only 5’4” tall, just for reference. I’m not even making fun of her here you guys this is legitimately exactly what she says every single outfit. She says she will wear this one on Sunday, yeah it would work for a church dress. She says it can even work for a wedding, and probably. She goes to show off the splotches of design across the front, but refuses to move her hair out of the way so you can actually see it. Next she’s so excited for this little drawstring and she’s showing how she can tug it back and forth.

The tank is part of it and she paired it with the same black joggers from before she looks like Sporty Spice having a midlife crisis in the ‘burbs. As if to prove my point, she lifts up her arm and shows us that she likes that they have these flaps/layers on the front, and then she tries to figure out how to button up the collar “really high”, you know for the windswept tundra that is eL Ay. She says it gives the jacket so much personality, but really it just looks like a Jackson Pollock painting threw up on itself.
If she pairs this with that black dress I'll lose it.

Last, we ditch the jacket, and she’s wearing a pair of overalls with tiny words printed in white on the front pocket. Proof that you can’t buy personality even when you buy something called “personalized ribbed ripped bib shorts”. She loves these you guys and “who doesn’t love overall shorts”, and I sure as shit don’t need one with weird ass phrases on the pockets. Now we get back to why “busy moms” need these clothes, they have pockets. Moms are the only ones who need pockets more than anyone else I guess. Apparently, she didn’t appreciate pockets until she was a mom so, she got her first buddy what, age 6? Anyways she paired the overalls with the chiffon shirt and because she loves the pop of color. Is she finally dropping beige as a personality?

It's important to note that the marks obtained in the Prelims exam are considered for qualifying purposes only. The score of the Prelims is not added to the final merit list. The objective of the Prelims is to shortlist candidates for the Main examination based on a predetermined cutoff.
How to prepare
  1. Familiarize yourself with the exam pattern and syllabus of both GS Paper-I and Paper-II. Understand the weightage of each topic and the type of questions asked in the exam.
  2. Go through PYQs to understand the trends, the difficulty level, and the areas that are frequently asked. This will give you insights into the exam pattern and help you identify important topics.

Do not include unnecessary hobbies without realizing the consequences. As a result, You have to spend a lot of time preparing answers for irrelevant information, which could have potentially put you in trouble during the interview.
It is crucial to consult a senior or someone experienced before filling your DAF. More often than not, a significant portion of your interview is based on the information provided in the DAF. You will be asked numerous questions on specific aspects of your DAF that the panel found interesting.
Being honest is essential, but it is equally important to be smart. Include only those details that can be easily prepared from an interview point of view. Focus on adding things you are confident about and have thoroughly prepared. Not being able to answer something from your DAF can create a wrong impression.
If possible, consider filling out a rough DAF at the beginning of your UPSC preparation and then develop your hobbies and personality accordingly throughout the course of your preparation.
Even if something goes wrong during the interview, it is crucial to stay calm. Remember that everyone makes mistakes. Gather yourself, remain confident, and maintain a polite demeanor.

Vaulted content makes an interesting problem arise. As someone who believes in the importance of content preservation and advocates heartily for archival and emulation, I want to break something sometimes just thinking about the innacessible content in the vault. I've never cared much about the online aspects of destiny other than matchmaking for PvE strikes. I want all the content I grew up with: The story missions, the strikes, the raids, the open maps and the events that kept them feeling alive. I think all of these should be able to be played offline using local network multiplayer. I'm thinking an unofficial game build would be the most feasible way to make this all happen, but we'd need a bunch of code leaks and it'd still be a hell of a project. This is a thread for discussing all possible routes to having all destiny PvE/story content playable and just as it was when it was relaeased. For the sake of preserving history, let's pressure the creators of destiny. Vaulting isn't right. Y'all release a second title where we can just play what's in the vault without any online rankings and without affecting our online destiny 2 profiles/characters. The online game can do its whole vaulting thing as the canonical present moves forward, and everything that gets vaulted would wind up in a title which has no canonical present to worry about, rankings to balance, etc. Otherwise you just leave us piracy. Honestly without Bungie's support, it would be morally questionable not to attempt to make pirating this content possible, considering the sake of archival.

Keystone Hardware Wallet might be what you're looking for in a new hardware wallet. I've always wanted to get my own and have been looking into ledger and getting their Stax model. Thankfully this fiasco occurred before I've made a decision but I had to go to the drawing. Everyone was promoting Trezor, but there's so much I didn't like about it in terms of security. Shipping Privacy - My method
Burner phone - purchase or use an old android phone. Factory reset and try to uninstall or turn off as many services as possible. For more tech savvy people, you can use ADB tools in Windows Powershell to force uninstall core apps through USB debugging. I used an old but still recent Samsung phone. You can download APKs online, there are reputable APK stores that support all applications and notify of any updates.
Burner Number - 2ndline, Google voice, or pre-paid number (Google-Fi, Verizon, Mint, etc). I used 2ndline.
Burner email - ProtonMail suggested
VPN - I used NordVPN with double-VPN on. I used public Wi-Fi for the internet connection.
Address - use a fake name. Try using the shipping address for a business or get a PO box then use the PO box street method to get it delivered (i.e. 123 Post Office St #[PO box number here], Mail City, STATE 12345). You can also buy virtual office services where you can receive mail. Ultimately, use a friend's or a family member's address who will never use crypto. The more people living at the house, the better.
Payment - Use coinbase commerce for privacy and to avoid paying sales tax. Send payments with either Litecoin(LTC) or Monero(XMR) for lower transaction fees and increased data privacy. There are apps on Google play and online APKs that allow you to buy Bitcoin and Monero privately with credit cards which are Monerujo, Local-Monero, and Agordesk. Supported by Monero community. Try using a gift card bought with cash. I used a virtual card with the option of inputting a burner name. I use Cred.ai and Revolut as they offer virtual cards, but only Cred.ai has the burner credit card name.
For convenience, you can also buy crypto on Robinhood or Coinbase, cashapp only offers BTC. Then, create an anonymous Kucoin account using a burner email or number on a burner phone. Kucoin offers phone call verification in case your number doesn't receive its texts. Send the crypto to the Kucoin exchange. For added anonymity, have a second anonymous Kucoin account (log off to switch inbetween accounts or install it a second time in samsung secure folder). Send your crypto to the second Kucoin account using its internal transfers so you don't pay network fees (I tested using regular blockchain transfers between Kucoin addresses and Kucoin automatically detects and uses internal transfer either way).
On checkout use the coinbase commerce option if you're sending any crypto that is not BTC. Copy the payment address and allocate the required amount + network fees on top. You got an hour to send it so make sure you send the payment immediately to give coinbase commerce enough time to detect the transaction on the blockchain.
My experience
So far so good. The software is very simplified, the on-screen keyboard looks and feels familiar to a legacy stock version of Android. I haven't gotten a deep dive into Github just yet so it might be based on Android.
The touchscreen is very responsive, no lag. Also vibrates on touch and when typing. The screen is aesthetically crisp and colorful. The device feels premium but also has the look and feel of simplicity. I can't really describe it but I just really like it.
The screen is glass and again feels very premium. There screen nor body bends at all. Very thick and firm body build made of fiberglass.
The camera is not shitty quality as I was expecting it to be. That gives me assurance that I won't be getting any errors.
It's blockchain support is a just little lacking. I wish it had Polygon side-chain support, I don't want to pay high gas fees sending Polygon to my wallet on Ethereum. I also wish it had Monero blockchain support but at least Keystone is currently in the works of providing more blockchain support, with Monero being a priority.
Keystone Companion App
The wallet connects to the Keystone app and syncs the wallet as watch-only. You can then see balances and use it to make new transactions, all without ever needing to connect the actual device.
