| This is Violet and Blue and I keep them in a cage that’s not that spacious but I have the top open at all times because I want them to be able to fly around. Basically they use it only as a place to sleep eat and drink and sometimes play with the toys I hang above it. Apart from the first 2-3 days they sleep fine at night but again I have to ask if any of you do the same for your birds. submitted by BunchAdventurous9034 to budgies [link] [comments] |
2023.06.07 14:23 nickr718 I Played: Lonely Survivor
My tasks (still active offer on SB) were:
- Reach Chapter 3 - earn 30 SB - Purchase Any $9.99 Package - earn 1,000 SB -Reach Chapter 7 - earn 70 SB - Purchase Any $19.99 Package - earn 2,000 SB - Reach Chapter 18 - earn 300 SB - Get Any 4 Heroes - earn 4,000 SB - Get Any 5 Heroes - earn 8,000 SB
Truly a very fun game. I'm unsure exactly how much time I spent on it, but it didn't feel like a ton. I mostly played after my wife went to sleep for a few hours. I downloaded the game on 5/29 and was finished by 6/5. They give you thirty days which, IMO, is more than plenty of time.
When I started, an event called Absolute Order had a leveling reward with three tiers (free, 9.99, and 19.99), it seemed like a beginner event for new players. I think you could have mostly gotten a character from the prizes in the 9.99 tier, but I didn't notice until the event was ending for me. However, you do straight up get a free character from finishing the list on the 19.99 offer (Flavi). I used SB to get a $50 Apple GC for any offers on this game since they are 1-1 on the payouts. I bought the 19.99 tier for Flavi and had 2000 SB pending almost immediately. You start with Ruby, so that brought me to 2 characters without a ton of work. You can get Jack pretty easily through events and offers. There seems to always be a weekly event where new objectives pop up each day of the week along with new offers, some real money, and some IGC (Diamonds). I got Jack for, I think, 2000 diamonds in the offers tab of that event. My 4th character was Boney, which you get for free from reaching level 7.
I could have gotten my last character faster, had I paid attention to the shops and progression rewards for the different game modes. Lu Bu was available in the Labyrinth Battle Pass, which was $24.99. Since the payout for getting 5 characters was 8000SB, I went ahead and bit the bullet and bought the Battle Pass. You can purchase/earn "Explorers" to progress through the Labyrinths relatively quickly. You can buy 24 per day for 300 diamonds and earn 20 from watching ads. I got through the Hard level and raided Hard until I progresses enough for Lu Bu, which took 3 or 4 days. You only progress in Labyrinth Battle Pass for completing battles in the Labyrinth, so the passive levels don't count.
There are always revolving character shards for sale in the normal store, but I didn't think it was consistent enough to be able to get the 50 shards needed for one character.
When I finished, I was on Chapter 20 Normal, Chapter 5 Hard, and Character Level 25. I rarely continue to play games that I do off on SB after I am finished with the offers, but this one is almost one I would keep playing. I really enjoyed the variety of gameplay with the abilities you get in the chapters. You could probably finish this offer by spending 19.99, get it paid back to you, and still earn 4400 SB after getting reimbursed for the 19.99 offer, or you could spend the 24.99 on the battle pass and earn 12400 SB after the 19.99 if you do it how I did it. In other words, I think this game is very profitable and easy to progress.
I'd probably say this one is a 9.5/10. If you have any other questions, feel free to drop the below. I try to respond as quickly as I can.
P.S. I found that ST Domain, Lightning Balls, and the Volcano abilities are super helpful for mobs by try to get one or two, like meteorites, that aren't proximity abilities for the chieftains so you can keep your distance.

2023.06.07 14:20 wrossi81 Reality-Bending Mechanics
I have a system design that I've started work on, that started off as a one-shot I ran. The goal is to evoke surrealist, reality-bending worlds with a heavy nod to the work of Philip K. Dick.
The idea as I currently have it is that there are multiple distorted mirrors of reality, or Shards, that act as worlds or world-elements that the player characters move through in the game. For instance, one Shard is a dystopian police-state; another is an idyllic 1950s suburb that is kind of a preserve for psychics in an otherwise war-torn world; a third is a lunar colony. The Shards are not fully discrete or consistent, though. Reality "slips" and elements from one Shard slide into another.
Sort of the meta-goal in the game is that the PCs are being chased by mysterious forces (usually represented by police or military authorities) through these shifting realities, and uncovering hidden truths allows them to either defeat or come to some agreement with those forces.
I'm thinking of how to make this work in the game. I have several ideas currently.
- Using clocks, like in Apocalypse World or Blades in the Dark. Significant PC actions tick the clock. At the end, depending on the stakes, some significant feature of reality changes, or the PCs could move entirely into a different Shard.
- Using some pool mechanic that allows the players to retcon the world (this would probably tie in with the clocks). For instance a player could get out of a police checkpoint by finding a pass in their pocket, or by having a nearby urban guerrilla attack divert the police. This causes more strain and possibly other consequences.
- Each player having certain sources of stability (hat tip here for Trail of Cthulhu) that would be things in the world that would suddenly change. Someone you've known for decades doesn't recognize you, your favorite restaurant is replaced by a store you've never been to, that kind of thing. These would get marked off - possibly to grant another resource to the PC.
- I'm considering having something like a "master table" of surreal effects for each Shard, where either that Shard's effect could happen, or it could leak into another neighboring Shard.
I'd appreciate thoughts and ideas on how to make this work, and how to keep it surreal but playable.

2023.06.07 14:18 GODKiller1311 Part 1 of my genius opinion on the hisuian pokemon (i am just a midladder ou player)
Want to see if top ladder ou players in this subreddit agree or disagree List - Random
H-Samurot :- Exceeded expections, many in this subreddit thought it was gonna be a uu mon with a niche in ou. But now its considered by most to be a bonified ou mon or shiest in blunders own words. (What spiking while attacking can do to a mf)
H-Lilligent :- Awesome but not pre home awesome. I mean pre home victory dance was the most cracked move in the entire game so people thought it was uber. Its a good ou mon dont get me wrong but not the uber that people thought it would be.
H-Goodra :- Most dissapointing of the hisuans. The amount of videos, tier list and discussions i saw of people rating this thing high ou is unbelivable. However Its like a C tier mon. Too slow and weak to be an offensive pokemon and no utility to be a defensive. Its just a blob (Its just old goodra with better typing)
H-Avalugg :- Lives up to expectations. Its is as good as people expected it to be. Actually its slighly better because trick room teams are popilar (thank you ursluna).
Wrydeer :- I dont even know the spelling so you know how good this is. Good for stantler to get an evolution but i havent seen this thing. From what i can get from its stats, movepool and typing this thing is ass. Infact i can say its more ass then avalugg as trick room teams are popular so avalugg can be used but this thing there is no use.

2023.06.07 14:13 hearden Golden Vault Conversion: The Murkmire Malevolence (1st-level)
It's been awhile since I played this so this post is quite delayed, but I'm here now with my deeper dive into setting the Golden Vault adventures in Wildemount.
Anthology Conversion (original post)
I'll be covering the following sections —
Location,
Lore,
Experience,
Future, and
Resources — for the 1st-level adventure, The Murkmire Malevolence.
“You’ve got to steal the Murkmire Stone and bring it back so I can save the city!”
Location
I like the Varkenbluff Museum of Natural History being in a big city — it makes sense for them to then have the resources available to magic-ward the building in the various ways we see in the adventure. A smaller city could have such a museum, but a large or small town definitely not.
For examples of such cities, I recommend Rexxentrum, Zadash, Nicodranas, Port Damali, Rosohna, or Uthodurn.
My personal preference, as well as where I set this the two times I ran it, is Rexxentrum. I just like how having it in the Empire opens up the possibility of tying Cerberus Assembly stuff into it, including Dr. Dannell's involvement and the museum's arcane traps and workings.
Lore
With that in mind, this section isn't necessary, but if you're looking to give some flavor to the adventure to make it feel more immersed in the world, as opposed to just a drop-in module, then there's a lot to work with.
Dr. Cassee Dannell, first of all, could be an archaeologist who works for the Soltryce Academy, Hall of Erudition, or the Marble Tomes Conservatory, both being arcane universities. I would say the Cobalt Soul Archives don't work in this case since they're not as much an arcane-focused organization.
Curator Alda Arkin could just be a freelance fence working independently, but she could
also be a Myriad fence, using the museum as her cover.
If you're not using the Golden Vault as your group's patron, mages who're interested in the Murkmire Stone — such as Doolan Tversky, Yussa Errenis, Vess deRogna, or Essek Thelyss — could either be hiring the party to grab the stone for them
or could be the ones funding the stone's safekeeping for the gala... and then perhaps Alda sneaks it away after the gala to be delivered directly to them. Who knows!
Experience
I ran this adventure twice with two different groups. It was pretty straightforward, hence why this post is on the shorter end compared to my other conversion posts. A lot of the additions I made were simply flavor ones, having the PCs know certain NPCs already or being familiar with the museum using the given hooks or expanding on an NPC's written personality to include a brief backstory that helped make them feel less one-dimensional (especially for an adventure that has so many named NPCs).
The two groups I ran were for a oneshot with 5 players and for an anthology series side campaign with 2 players. Both were set in Rexxentrum with the same NPCs quirks and backstories.
The
oneshot group was first, so I learned from all of my mistakes with them. Party was warlock, monk, Draconic sorcerer, artificer, and rogue.
I had had their meeting with Dannell in the morning, as the book said, but since the gala was at night, they took that as an opportunity to go around the museum during business hours (the Gemstone Wing was, of course, closed and cordoned off). That let them get the layout of the museum
before the gala, as opposed to having to attend the gala and plan at the same time.
Hilariously, the warlock kept trying to get in with the guards as a new hire but wouldn't back down even when the guards told her that Alda hired guards directly herself, so there was no such "job posting" asking for new hires. This almost busted their recon period since Alda got suspicious when one of the guards came to her office saying that the warlock was claiming to be a family friend, too, but eventually Alda got busy and ignored this after telling the guards to shoo the warlock off.
The party left themselves an escape rope hanging from the skylight (the rogue had climbed the building from the outside during the recon portion) and then hid in the bathrooms or the supply closets after the gala.
I accidentally skipped over the part where the animatronic doesn't attack anyone and just jumps downstairs to wreak havoc. Sureth died in this oneshot because she was standing 5 feet away from the animatronic when the artificer activated it from the other side then quickly backed up. The animatronic crit on her, but she got revived at the end of the story by the Golden Vault cleaning things up.
The warlock also was knocked unconscious because (since I hadn't sent the animatronic downstairs and the party was in hiding watching Maryam and the guards fight it) she fled downstairs to create a distraction, and the guards down there knocked her out. She was arrested but I had their Golden Vault handler come by and talk her free.
On the bright side, the artificer did end up in a relationship with Dr. Dannell, who he came into the adventure having an established crush on, so that was cute.
In the wrap-up, we established that the party convinced Dannell to quit her association with the Soltryce Academy and go do research and similar work for the Golden Vault. The museum was shut down for investigation by the Cerberus Assembly and the Crown, and its future of ever being open again was put into question because of the havoc that'd been caused by the animatronic killing Sureth.
In terms of runtime, that group did 6 hours with 1 hour debrief, 3 hours prep, and 2 hours heist/combat.
The
anthology group was second and only had two players, so I extra scaled everything down (removed half HP from everything). Part was Clockwork Soul sorcerer and rogue.
Same thing happened with the "early meeting" and "late gala" prep time — they wanted to go in during business hours to recon because there was still a whole day to kill. I've been recommended that, perhaps, the DM should skip from the meeting to the gala immediately, but I think that players might still say "hey, we had all of those hours to kill, we could've been doing recon then, too". In that case, maybe it'd be for the best that Dannell meets with them shortly before the gala so that there's no time to really do separate recon.
The sorcerer and rogue pretended to be on a date, and since this is an anthology connected to my campaign, we had a lot more stuff to work with. (The players were controlling NPCs-turned-PC-sheets that they've met before and are allies with in the campaign; the anthology is basically "what were these characters doing while y'all were not with them?") My favorite part being that they were both nobles, so I played off the idea that everyone knew them... which then made them have to work around the fact that people knew their faces so they couldn't be too suspicious since it'd be too easy to catch and identify them.
The rogue was the eldest child of Watchmaster Brunda Gleshin (and the black sheep of their family), so I had them know Maryam as a former Watch captain who'd retired to take on private museum security (it pays better than law enforcement). There was a
lot of snarky back and forth between the rogue and Maryam because of that once they had gone up to scope out the second floor. This was my favorite interaction:
Micha: We'll leave you alone, but nice to see that you've taken up this... position.
Maryam: Mhm.
Micha: I'm sure my mother is very proud of you.
Maryam: Can't say the same for you.
They also set the skylight up for later, mingle at the gala (Watchmaster Gleshin is there, much to the rogue's chagrin), and then make their leave. But they don't actually leave and go in through the basement, fight the mimic, go into the records room and Alda's office and kill Marigold. Then they leave again and head up to the attic to wait for the museum's closing.
They'd previously tried to talk up some guards to see who they could maybe flip during the heist... but then when it comes time for them to come out of hiding, both of them discover that the guards have all changed positions so now the guard set-up they'd lifted is useless.
(This was
fully because they chose to come in early and Maryam saw the rogue walking around during normal business hours, so she went and tipped off Alda right before the gala. I thought it was a nice touch since the rogue was acting real cocky and it further emphasized their bad reputation for being a troublemaker around town, that any Crownsguard who knew them would automatically think they're up to something.)
At the end of the day, both heists were successful, although the oneshot group definitely had more chaos going on, likely due to the number of players and the fact that I'd missed the line about the animatronic not causing real people damage. The oneshot group swapped the stone for the replica while the anthology players swapped the stone for a sack of ten pounds of adventuring gear... because it was "more fun". When I pointed out that that meant they'd probably know that the sorcerer and rogue did it since they were the only adventurers casing the museum earlier in the day, the rogue replied, "Yeah. We want them to know! They can't catch us. With what proof?"
I also found that Cassee was popular to flirt with. I mean, she's a dorky archaeologist, so I guess that was written in the stars already. In the oneshot group, as aforementioned, the artificer ended up dating her, but in the anthology group, the rogue tried to flirt with her and ask her out for dinner... but she declined because they were
way too boisterous and high energy for her. (In comparison, the artificer from the other group was also shy and quiet like her, so she appreciated that... and his starting hook was knowing Dannell through academics, so there was that.)
Future
There's already future hooks discussed in this adventure, so I won't repeat those. However, I think because of the huge amount of named NPCs in this adventure, there's a lot of opportunities to reuse them later on, especially if you're running the adventures as connected like I am for my anthology group. Could be a nice callback.
The museum guards, if the museum is shut down, could reappear as guards in a later adventure, showing that they had to find somewhere else to work.
Alda Arkin, if her fencing was never discovered, could rise up to do bigger work and be involved with a later heist, such as Masterpiece Imbroglio.
Even Dr. Dannell herself could reappear in a later adventure that has to do with arcane magic or weird creatures (perhaps Markos Delphi has correspondence with her about eldritch horrors?).
I'm currently playing with the idea that Franceena, who the anthology rogue gave the business card of their dueling academy they run to, could have gone and taken those dueling lessons and become stronger over time, reappearing in a mid tier adventure (Vidorant's Vault?) as part of a rival crew. I haven't implemented it yet since I'm also considering using the Thieves' Gallery from
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves as a rival crew, but who knows! It's fun to think about, regardless.
As a side note, I also love that Dr. Horthnar Stonecrusher shares a name with Torgja Stonecrusher of the prewritten rival crew. It could be that it's just a happenstance of having the same name, especially since they're both dwarves... but I think it could also be fun if they're related — maybe he's her father and he mentions at the gala how his daughter has run off with some 'petty thieves'? And then she appears later as part of the rival crew!
In addition, I didn't get to implement this because I thought of it
after I'd run both games, but I had the idea of dropping foreshadowing objects in the displays to hint at later Golden Vault adventures (similar to the museum episode of
Black Mirror, iykyk). These obviously can't
all be the MacGuffins of the adventures because those MacGuffins have to be somewhere, but maybe they could be allusions to characters the players will encounter or locations they'll go to.
- a casino chip from Afterlife for Stygian Gambit
- a plaque about the Celestial Codex or the actual book itself (donated by Vasil and later stolen by Markos after the events of this adventure because so many of the guards quit and he was able to sneak in easier) for Reach for the Stars
- tools that were used to build Revel's End, a painting of Revel's End, or the needles/original tech that was later used to make Prisoner 13's magic tattoos for Prisoner 13
- a bunch of automatons or clockwork trinkets for Tockworth's Clockworks
- a replica of the Constantori's Portrait for Masterpiece Imbroglio
- an exhibit of things donated by Froderic Dartwild before his death for Axe from the Grave
- an exhibit of a master thief whose identity is unknown and their many exploits, including stealing the ruby diadem of the Goldenbeard family for Vidorant's Vault
- a mural about Xeluan and his friends' heroic deeds for Shard of the Accursed
- an art installation of glasswork from Ghalasine for Heart of Ashes
- a model automated train replica of the Concordant Express that educates viewers on how the Outer Planes work OR plaques talking about all of the cases Ignatius Inkblot has solved for Affair on the Concordant Express
- a plaque talking about a Shard Solitaire, the many rumored variants of it, and how Varkenbluff has tried to acquire one from a famous adventurer, Zorhanna Adulare, but she hasn't been willing to part with it for Party at Paliset Hall
- and finally an exhibit/plaque/mural about the efreeti tyrant Vrakir, his long reign of terror destroying cities, and his unknown whereabouts now for Fire and Darkness
Resources
No third-party supplements were used in either of my runs of this adventure.
My Playlists: Gala /
Heist /
Combat Conclusion
My rating for this adventure doesn't change from my original conversion post of the book.
8/10 - simple, effective, and meets all of the three pillars. The anthologies usually don't miss with the 1st-level adventures. I docked points simply because the flavor and setting was a bit predictable, but it makes sense to start an anthology with a classic museum heist.
Overall, it's still very fun, and both groups loved it when I ran it for how 'classic heist' it feels. It's got a lot of potential for future hooks
Hope you enjoyed, thanks for reading, and happy gaming!

2023.06.07 13:58 _Moonreul_ New to Teambuilding and tried to make a Hoopa-U/Roaring Moon team...
So as Hoopa-U is one of my favourite mons, I was happy to see it come back with the recent Home Update and have been trying to make a team with it and Roaring Moon work. I've playing Showdown a bit more recently and cooked up a final lineup, after a week of trying. Honestly, I'm not sure how to improve it more, or if a core of these two mons even work, so I'm seeking any help to make this team better :)
Pokepaste
Hoopa-Unbound @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magician
Tera Type: Psychic
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Dark Pulse
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
Trying to find a way to use Hoopa-U's incredible 170 base SpA, I settled on a Choice Scarf Timid Nature, allowing it to outspeed most non-Choice scarf/non-booster mons (except unburden sneasler) and still land powerful OHKO/2HKOs. Usually, I lead with this against Rain or Sun Teams as it OHKOes Pelipper with Thunderbolt and Torkoal with Tera Psychic. Great Tusk and Urshifu are also targets as most expect to outspeed Hoopa-U and stay in. I'm considering switching to modest scarf to have a chance to OHKO Toxapex if Zamazenta-H gets banned as timid scarf is mostly to outspeed banded Zama-H and Chien-Pao.
Corviknight @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Mirror Armor
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- U-turn
- Body Press
- Defog
- Roost
The team's defogger and physical wall, it also helps to pivot into Hoopa-U/Roaring Moon for them to find an opening/set-up. I was conflicted over the item and ability but chose Rocky Helmet over Leftovers for the chip damage and especially since usually this tanks Urshifu's Surging Strikes, and Mirror Armour over Pressure to prevent Def drops.
Roaring Moon @ Booster Energy
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Acrobatics
- Crunch
- Dragon Claw
The usual DD Acrobatics set, I usually find myself tera-ing this to go on the offensive, usually after hopefully clearing Chien-Pao and its ice shard. It hits incredibly hard and fast after +1 DD, but I'm considering whether to include Earthquake to hit Kingambit, or keep Dragon Claw to deal with other Dragons.
Kingambit @ Leftovers
Ability: Supreme Overlord
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Kowtow Cleave
- Iron Head
Wasn't sure about including another dark type on the team, but Kingambit brought good priority and strength in swords dance and sucker punch, and pulled a lot of games back from the brink, which is why it kept its place on the team. It also brings steel coverage to hit fairy types (although Iron Valiant just ends it with any fighting move)
Garganacl @ Leftovers
Ability: Purifying Salt
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Salt Cure
- Iron Defense
- Recover
- Body Press
I used this as the team's special wall, but it also takes physical hits fairly well also, being extremely annoying with Leftovers plus Recover. With Salt Cure, it forces switches, hits steels and prevents the wall of the team from being too passive. I often find myself tera-ing this quite often as well to tank Fighting-type moves, often when on the back foot.
Urshifu-Rapid-Strike @ Choice Band
Ability: Unseen Fist
Tera Type: Ice
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Surging Strikes
- Close Combat
- Ice Spinner
Often used as a physical breaker, I found its WateFighting STAB combo to be highly useful against Garg/Ursa/Kingambit/Skele/Ting-Lu and crit-ing through Def boosts with Surging Strikes is definitely a plus. I also use this to pivot to the other threats on the team (Moon/Hoopa).
I think ground/fighting moves are definitely an area where this team struggles hard, aside from tera-ing... so any suggestions are welcome! As my first foray into actual teambuilding, I hope this team isn't unsalvageable hot garbage HAHA

2023.06.07 13:49 cyndidee It looks like a lucky month for me…
| But in the real world, our upstairs bathroom flooded from a toilet leak and destroyed the bathroom downstairs. Our 16 year old cat has a hematoma in his ear and it isn’t healing. We keep paying for vet appointments hoping he’ll be ok. And then Monday my husband got hit by someone who ran a red light and our Jeep was totaled. (And he had a root canal the same day.) I can’t handle much more stress. But getting Zurg is definitely a highlight of the day. Lol! submitted by cyndidee to disneyemojiblitz [link] [comments] |
2023.06.07 13:49 ProFlux4 Flame Shield vs Ice Armor
I am playing an ice shards build and have been using flame shield to this point (im lvl 45 atm). Seeing a lot of posts talking about ice Armor as the norm instead of flame shield.
Is ice Armor that good or that much stronger where I should respec over to it?

2023.06.07 13:26 wemajored Are there any Pokémon who wouldn’t want to Tera at all?
Offensive Pokemon would never not want an extra STAB boost to their moves, so I guess this question mostly applies to defensive mons. Are there any Pokémon with defensive typings so good they wouldn’t wanna tera? It sounds reasonable enough to exist but I can’t cant think of any examples since even things like Corv opt to Tera into a different type for defensive value.

2023.06.07 13:23 biblicalbullworm Opinion: Minecraft NEEDS updates to its core gameplay and it deserves new content that is actually meaningful
This new update is neat and all, but the majority of the content is just kind of useless. Yes, a lot of it is great for customisation, and stuff like the cherry blossom biome looks nice, but there is a serious lack of any meaningful gameplay within the update.
This has been a problem for years now. Except for arguably the nether update, the core progression of Minecraft has barely changed since release, and every update has just added tons of pointless filler content that doesn't really have a use or affect the main gameplay at all.
Trails and tales repeats this mistake. Hard.
We have the new archaeology mechanic... That gives you... Shards... That make pots... That don't do anything.
We have the sniffer... Which gives you seeds... That make plants... That don't do anything.
We have camels... That don't do or drop anything.
We have cherry blossom biomes... That don't have any unique mobs or items other than the new wood.
Yes - customisation is great, and this update is a massive win for the builders, but this game has so much more outside of building, and Mojang continue to neglect it by not adding anything meaningful to the game.
In my opinion, their approach of keeping the game 'simplistic' is completely limiting its infinite potential. These updates should be expanding the core gameplay, but they're doing a terrible job of incorporating new features into the game, and they're often just left to the side and forgotten about. Examples of these already in the game are bees, copper, frogs, goats, polar bears, amethyst geodes, pandas, foxes, and much more.
This is a great game with tons of potential, but they're fumbling the updates hard.

2023.06.07 13:07 Eravar1 An argument for printing more bad cards
Bad cards in trading card games have annoyed me for years. As a kid, there was nothing more irritating than saving 12 bucks for 3 packs, pulling 50 cent rares out of all of them, and going home disappointed. I read the justifications and the columns and forums and heard what other players at my LGS said in support of bad cards, of course, but I never really understood any of it until I played LoR.
I believe that LoR is actually worse off for the lack of substandard cards, and if you bear with me for a bit, I'll explain why. I understand that it's a little late to have discussions about their design philosophy, given how many sets they've already released and the players that will expect newer sets to be largely similar, but I hope some discourse about it may put certain cards in LoR into new perspective for players here.
Why do you want to pull bad cards?
Well, first of all, I don't want to pull weaker cards. That's the tradeoff that's made in exchange for all the benefits that bad cards bring to the table. At the same time, I believe that LoR is better able to support the addition of mediocre cards as compared to other games, on account of the monetization model. Cards, especially at the common and rare level, are plentiful in this game, and you get the bulk of the cards you need through crafting. Between how easy it is to complete your collection, and the reduced significance of pulls in this game, it's not a huge loss if your weekly vault has 10 more unplayable uncommons.
Limited
Ever since Expeditions got silently erased from the game, some players (myself included) have been waiting (on distilled copium) for a new limited format to be introduced to this game. However, I'll be the first to admit that Expeditions wasn't always the most fun, and I think a big factor for that is the card pool.
For the three of us unfamiliar with Expeditions, it was a sort of draft format that used to be in the game. Cards were split into "buckets" under a theme, and you were given 3 options 15 times to draft a deck.
The thing is, there's basically no way to do it wrong. The majority of the cards are playable in some way, and synergy is even explicitly offered to you. In fact, a challenge that my friends and I used to do was to just click on the center bucket repeatedly until we got a full deck, and we would still easily get 7 win runs.
Diversifying the power level of cards can introduce more choices into a hypothetical limited format, rewarding player skill, and increasing the card pool stops all the decks from feeling same-ish. Seriously, if anybody remembers Expeditions, sometimes it feels like you're just going through the motions to determine the number of each card you have in your deck. Wasn't really engaging for more than a week or two.
Effect Redundancy
In a similar vein, having effect redundancy in weaker cards is nice. Let's take a look at Cunning Kitten - interesting effect, comes with an upside with a hoop to jump through, looks like the payoff might almost justify the setup. Almost. Because the fact of the matter is, while Iterative Improvement is a good card, and slamming 5/5s that replace themselves is good value for cost, they're still just 2 mana 5/5s coming out on like turn 6 on average. The effect and idea is interesting, but it's not really worth building around.
Thought experiment. Let's say we introduce a 4 mana 3/4 and a 6 mana 5/6 with similar effects. And let's look at the setup - Iterative Improvement is a great card, maybe even too great. Bump up the cost to 3, remove the +1/+1 effect, you've got yourself a strictly worse ItIm. A bad card by most measures - yet can you justify playing a worse ItIm just to have a 5th and 6th copy in a deck that really wants the copy effect?
Having cards that can ask that kind of question opens whole new avenues to deckbuilding in this game, especially for the jank player that just really, really wants to see 3 different Shark Chariot effects pop off on turn 7.
Absolute Nonsense and Epic Cards
Sometimes, different cards appeal to different players. I make no secret of the fact that I'm an extremely competitive player, and I evaluate all cards presented to me on that scale. But there are other sides to this game too - back when Ryze was first announced (and before he started tanking all the vitriol from the community), we had jank players working day in and day out in the hopes of bumping his winrate above 29% and actually seeing that victory animation maybe half the time. Howling Abyss, Priestess of Desert Light and Secret Keeper might not be the best idea to ever slam on a board, but we have players that live for it anyways. And don't even get me started on Heart of the Fluft, I swear it's basically a mini-cult at this point.
Having more complete jank can help more casual players feel like there's more to the game than loading up Seraphine Ezreal and making value trades for 20 turns. In fact, we have some of those cards in the game already, they just tend to be gated at Epic cards. And can I just say, Epic cards were absolutely the most miserable part of finishing my collection? We get almost none of them! The vast majority of my green shards went towards crafting them, and we're hiding an entire subsection of cards behind that 3600 (1200*3) shard buy-in?
A nice example I like to point to is the famous (or infamous) Magic card One with Nothing. In fact, there's a very nice YouTube video discussing exactly why it's such an amazing terrible card. For 1 mana, you have the privilege of discarding your hand - it's an effect that seems completely idiotic at first glance, but the synergies it offers are unbelievably tempting. It's unmatched for what it does, even if what it does is speedrun your game loss.
I, for one, would be happier with more broad, "powerful" effects of that category, and less "gain a keyword" or "give me +1/+1" effects.
Power Level in a Vacuum and Understanding Cards
The power level of a card is always relative to the other options available, and it cannot exist in a vacuum. Radiant Strike, for example, is a completely unplayable card - 1 mana for +1/+1, it's completely outclassed by Catch!. In a similar vein, Elixir of Iron is a strong combat trick in standard, but that's because Troll Chant is off the table. Yet our evaluation of card strength is almost completely flat - with so few duplicate effects at similar costs, the nearest example I can point to for Radiant Strike and Catch! is Battlefield Prowess.
Yet it's in this comparison that we understand exactly why Battlefield Prowess is such a terrible card. Grant is stronger than Give, after all, so why is Battlefield Prowess worse than Radiant Strike?
In asking this question, we understand the value of hidden information, of flexibility, of priority and the cost of an action. We understand the innate cost of a card - both the opportunity cost in deck building, and the opportunity cost of being able to draw literally anything other than Battlefield Prowess.
In my opinion, LoR has precious few opportunities for players to learn basic concepts such as these, because no questions ever need be asked. In my preparation for the Runeterra Open, I've had the opportunity to speak to other players about their prep work and opinions on the metagame. Through these talks, I've realised that some players that made it to Masters lack the knowledge of basic concepts like what I just pointed out with Battlefield Prowess.
Somewhat counterintuitively, including bad cards might help new players improve at the game far faster.
Of course, these are just my thoughts and opinions. Do let me know what you guys think, we can try and get a discussion going!

2023.06.07 13:03 DutchDolt Bored of Ice Shards build
Long story short: I started out as a chain lightning Sorc. I had so much fun, but the dmg output seemed to get lower and lower the higher I lvled up. Swapped to Ice Shards+Frost Nova build and it definitely delivered. Now that I've been playing that for a while it's getting extremely stale, since you're using the same gimmick over and over again (Nova then Shards and watch everything die).
Any tips on how I can spice it up a bit?

2023.06.07 12:10 Quagsire379 POKEMON "UNITE" is the Worst MOBA
When I first Learned about Pokemon Unite, I Didn't even know what a Moba is. It's This Game that made me Learn what a MOBA is. But this game is the worst one I Played. I Know there are going to be a Bunch of Unite Mega Fams saying I'm wrong but idc.
Why is this game the worst? Because of BALANCE:
ZACIAN-Two Hit KO
Umbreon-Press one Button and win a Fight
Lapras-Has Unlimited Health
Comfey-LoL Players Know
Dodrio-Can Traverse the whole map in 2 secs
Mew-Can Attack You without you attacking it.
GLACEON-Same as Mew
And a Lot more that I don't care that much to say
Glaceon and Zacian Specifically should get Removed.
What's The point of adding Zacian if there is No Zamazenta(Superior) and no one cares about Glaceon(The Worst Eeveelution)
Overrall all Pokemon have insane abilities that they can use freely. Especially newer Pokemon, and older Pokemon are Left in the Depths of F/D Tier: Zeraora, Crustle,Gengar and More.
If it wasn't for the Casual Pokemon Fanbase and 5 Year Olds, This Game wouldn't last 2 Months.
Meanwhile, Games/Mobas with well-made Balance and well thought Kits, Die Because Most People Play Games like Pokemon "Unite" which Succs.
Feel Free to argue with me. I'm not even 100% sure if this Post is going to be Posted

2023.06.07 11:42 Yukarinrin 28 [M4A] Card Games
Anyone play some card games physically/remote?
I'm looking for some fellow players to play with for these, completely new is fine, it'll all be for casual so no problems if you're new. I'm in a few groups but I'd prefer some newer and/or budget players as most of the people I know are kind of competitive.
- Yu-Gi-Oh! - TCG on a budget (OCG is fine, just no Maxx C please)
- Cardfight! Vanguard - Casuals/Standard EN (only have some casual Lyrical Monasterio decks)
- WIXOSS - Diva EN (completely new to this, will be getting a starter deck this Saturday)
Those are all, I used to play Pokemon but I currently don't have a deck and the money to purchase some. Maybe in the future though.
If for some reason you need my profile, it's in my user profile here. Thanks!

2023.06.07 11:40 GrumpyRhinoGames Version 1.21 - Stylist, Time Shard Changes and More
Hey all, quite a big sporadic update today. Quite a lot has to do with post prestige content so be warned there are spoilers.
The Stylist We've added a new alien - the Stylist. To unlock her you need to purchase two new Rift Stones (costing Cosmic Runes). The Stylist sells skins. Two for the NecroMerger, two for the Tip Stone and one for the Devourer. The skins cost alien currencies and give boosts related to the alien content.
Changes to how Time Shards are calculated We've removed the Time Shard Experiment entirely, if you've upgraded the Time Shard Experiment, you'll be refunded the Time Shards you spent on it (so make sure you spend them!).
There are two main reasons for this change.
Firstly, people who weren't upgrading the Time Shard Experiment were seeing their runs being compromised in a big way.
Secondly, the amount of Time Shards you had to spend on the Experiment (especially in the first few prestiges) was so high that most people couldn't afford to spend much on other Experiments. So they weren't seeing much progress other than increasing their Devourer's max level.
Instead Devourer level contributes a
lot more to the amount of Time Shards you earn.
To rebalance costs - somewhat - we've increased the cost of the last two levels of the Weakening Experiment (but the cost increase is less than what was being spent on maxing out the Time Shard Experiment).
Golden Goose Cravings/Robo Chickens Changes We've limited the amount of Robo Chickens to 3. If you have more than 3 currently, they won't disappear, but you won't be able to build more.
We've changed how many Golden Geese the Devourer will require at higher levels. Before the most it would ask for at very high levels was 7, now it's 4.
Note, if you have a Golden Goose craving active and you've exceeded the craving following this rebalance you'll need to feed it one more Golden Goose to complete it. Lair Themes We've updated the graphics on both the Pirate and Alien themes.
We've also changed it so the Alien theme isn't visible until you've unlocked the Architect.
There are now notifications when your Decorations are ready to collect and if you have unused Decorations ready to display.
Information Panels Most characters (Champions etc) now have updated information panels to give more useful information.
Offerwall We've now removed the IronSource Offerwall completely, so TapJoy is the only option (IronSource now own TapJoy). If you've got an ongoing offer then you can still complete it, but you won't be able to access the Offerwall.
Patch Notes - New alien added - the Stylist. This alien sells 2 NecroMerger, 2 Tip Stone and 1 Devourer skin.
- The way Time Shards have been calculated has changed. The Time Shard Experiment has been removed (people who bought it will be refunded). Later levels of the Weakening Experiment have had their costs increased.
- Lair Themes have had their graphics updated.
- Updated information panels have been added for a number of characters.
- Golden Geese Cravings need a lower amount at higher levels.
- Robo Chickens are now limited to 3.
- Event rooms are now prettiemore varied.
- Updated the look of some buttons.
- Weekly notification for the Architect.
- IronSource Offerwall has been removed. You can still complete offers but will no longer be able to access the Offerwall.
- New one off in-app purchase selling Gems and Gold available in the shop.
- We ask for reviews a lot less frequently now.
- Technical update to allow for more devices to play the game.
Note, the update is currently only available to 25% of people, once we're confident there are no critical issues we'll roll it out to everyone else. submitted by

2023.06.07 11:28 Bn0503 Ideas for a hobby for my husband?
My husband used to play American football every Sunday and did a 1:1 boxing lesson in the week but in the past few months his team folded due to lack of players and he's had to stop boxing because he works nights and couldn't consistently make it. He's told me this morning he's feeling really down and lonely because he doesn't really have friends outside these activities.
He's about to be 30 and into sports and gaming, things like pokemon as well. He has been to a morning playing pokemon cards a few weeks ago but they're only held once every three months or so. Any ideas on things I can encourage him to get involved in? We have 2 young kids as well and he works nights in the week so not something that will take up all the weekend if possible because it's the only time the kids get to see him.
EDIT: So many helpful suggestions, I haven't even heard of a few of these things before, we have a good list of things for him to try so thank you for the help!
