Hello Everyone! My name is Vinícius, I'm from Brazil and this is my request: Diablo 4
Why Diablo 4? So, my story with the Diablo franchise comes a long way. My first experience with the game was with Diablo 1 on my PS1, I was amazed from the very beginning with the style it had. I loved the dark, gothic horror visuals and sounds, both soundtrack and ambient, I was very young so I was even a little scared by it, which I think just made me even more interested in playing. Being young also made things a little more difficult, as I did not have the knowledge and experiences with games that I have nowadays, so the game was very challenging for me, not only from the gameplay perspective, but also the language, because my English was much worse than it is now. Even though I loved the game I was never able to beat it because of this difficulties that I had at that time, but I always carried many great memories of it anyway.
Some years after that, a friend of mine showed me Diablo 2 on his PC, and it had all the things I loved about Diablo 1, but raised to a whole new level. The grim vibes, the disturbing enemies and places, the new classes, everything was exactly what I wanted it to be. I played the hell(pun intended) out of this game, almost always as a Necromancer cause I loved having my skeleton gang helping me kill those bastards. 😈 To this day, every 2 years or so I get the Diablo 2 calling on my brain and play it a little again, and the temptation got even higher now with the Diablo 2 Resurrected haha!
Now we get to Diablo 3, a game that in my opinion has nothing to do with the first two, and that I was so disappointed about that I had to skip it. The biggest reason I play Diablo games is for the art and the hopeless feeling they have, and Diablo 3 had nothing of it, it was too colorful and too World of Warcrafty, which some people may like but it's not for me. All these years since Diablo 3 came out I have been craving for a comeback to the old style, and that's what Diablo 4 is doing. It brings me so much nostalgia to just watch the gameplay videos with that really dark tone and that sweet potion drinking sound that is still the same as the old days. I have been so bored of most games nowadays, I think I need this nostalgia trip to sink 100s of hours in with some friends that also miss the old Diablo, and it would be that kind of game that I never stop playing for years to come.
Why can't I buy it? Diablo 4 is an expensive game, I live in a small town in Brazil, a country in which the game costs R$ 350(our currency is called Real), and the minimum wage is R$ 1.212, so it costs 28.88% of the minimum wage, it's absurd. I am a photographer who is still trying to make a living of it, I had many jobs before but some fired me and some I just could not keep up because they had a huge tow on my mental state. From my experience the only job that could maintain me without destroying my mental is photography, I just love it, and I took too long to realise that I could do something important with it. Art is something that followed me through my whole life, that is probably the reason I love the Diablo artistic aspects so much. I love movies, photography and music, I even have a band with some friends.
But the point is that standard AAA game prices here went from R$250 to R$ 350 really fast on the last few years, and it's impossible to keep up with it. I am struggling at the moment to acomplish my objectives professionaly, and I believe that Diablo 4 can be used as an escape from the problems when I need it, and maybe it can end up helping me achieve my goals because it would make me so happy to receive this gift.
I think I don't have anymore to say, so I just hope someone reads this poorly written but full of sincerity text. 😁 Thank you SO much for giving me the opportunity to ask for something like this, you have no idea how much this means to me and how surprised I am that we have some people here with that kind of generosity!
If I get this game I will offer Stardew Valley here, it would be very nice to continue the cycle of gifts. 😊 Diablo 4 My BattleNet account: Vinico #11689

2023.04.11 18:12 Shasaur Reflecting on 3 years of solo indie-game development: my analysis of key missteps
Hey, I’m Tom. I quit my job to work full-time indie-developer 2 years ago. In total, I’ve been developing my city-building and simulation game “Heard of the Story?” for 3 years.
I find it really interesting (and somewhat satisfying?) to look back and try to pin-point all the mistakes I made during my journey. Probably because I at least want the feeling that I’ve learnt something along the way, even if it won’t end with success. So in that sense, if you want to add anything to these points or discuss them, I’d love to hear it.
I’ve sorted these mistakes so that (what I think) are the most important are at the top (i.e., the most time wasted).
Not reading enough gamedev postmortems It’s a fine balance to strike between learning yourself and learning from others. There are so many great post-mortems - especially the comment discussions - that I’ve learnt a huge amount from. Unfortunately, I read too many of these too late.
In particular, if you are a solo indie-dev there’s no-one giving you daily advice (whereas in a company, you’re always surrounded by peers and your lead / manager) so this makes pro-active learning even more important.
Bear in mind that not everything you see in this subreddit is good advice (see
“Let's have a chat about the Dunning-Kruger Effect”), but over time, through reading many posts and comments, you learn to differentiate which info is important and build your own model.
Deciding to make my own assets There is a very bad rep for a lot of games being asset flips (to the point where they are banned on some subreddits), but I don’t think every game that chooses to use third-party assets is bad. Take for example, The Bloodline, it looks like a really fun game and has a big following, using mainly third-party assets from what I can see (do correct me if I’m wrong).
In my game, what’s unique about it is the complex villager and society simulation with-in a city-building and life-sim context. Furthermore, I’m a programmer by heart, it’s what I’m best at, and it’s what I enjoy the most. I had little Blender knowledge before starting development.
I started out using third-party assets for buildings, characters, and items, but about a year and a half ago decided that I would slowly phase all of these out. Now, almost all you see in the game is made by me (with the occasional item here and there still using an old asset).
There was a lot to learn: Blender, animations, modelling, texturing, weight-painting, import and export process, NLA tracks, Unity skeletons, and lots of other things.
Now that I’ve built a decent foundation and know a fair amount of blender and the related Unity import process, it’s fine. But I were to go back 3 years and choose: have 10x content through third-party assets vs learning how to weight-paint a cloak, I would choose the former, and I might be in Early Access by now.
I don’t advise everyone to use third-party assets, in fact, I think my game might be one of a few where I would advise it. I just wanted to raise the point that if your game falls into a similar category where art isn’t the main focus, don’t feel forced to make your own assets. It might just give you the time you need to build a really good game.
Choosing the cozy genre without focusing on art direction The above point covers creating assets, but the actual art style and quality is a whole separate thing. Assets by themselves don’t necessarily make a game look good, it’s also the way they are stylised with colours, consistency, shapes, and other environmental choices such as shadow colours and strength, ambient lighting, and others.
In the last few months I read a comment on one of my posts that said:
“I don't really feel like visuals are the strong suit for your game, which is unfortunate since I do think the cozy genre is very much based on aesthetics.” and it really stuck with me.
At some point I made a decision to focus the game on being relaxing and a laid-back city-builder, without realising the ramifications of that decision: I’ll now be placing myself next to games like Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, or other games that have Kickstarted since then, which all have amazing art styles - usually created by professional artists or in some cases teams (of course, there are exceptions). For the people that play these games, art and visuals comes much higher on the list than for the people that play simulation games like Dwarf Fortress or RimWorld.
Since then, I’ve focused on this and improved a lot. It’s still not perfect and definitely not the most unique looking game, but it’s finally at a point I’m at least happy with.
You don’t have to be a professional to have a great art style, you just need to spend a bit of time researching other games and looking at indie-games on social media. For me, as a programmer by nature, this has made a huge difference.
Some things I’ve learnt to do and recommend:
- Take your favourite screenshots / GIFs of games and analyse the colours with a colour picker. Don’t copy their colours, but seek to understand the patterns: are the colours warm? Are they saturated? Are they bright? What colours are the shadows, the sky, and the fog? Here is a brainstorm I did for colour palettes of about 20 games / artists.
- Make a mood board with references from other similar games in your genres
- Looking at how other games solved similar art problems (eg here are some examples I collected when trying to improve my mountains) makes things a lot easier
- Deconstruct images to see what you are missing. A lot of images give you a general “wow!” on social media, but what specifically on them is the “wow” part? Something key I discovered was the lack of decorations in my villages. These really add flavour and character to a scene.
If you do make a good looking game, it will also make it much easier to build an audience on social media as most of those are primarily visuals-driven platforms.
Not playing other games enough I might be the rare exception here, but I never played a huge amount of games before starting development, in fact, I probably spent more time developing games than playing them (even before I started). I still played and got inspired by a fair selection of indie-games, but it was never regular, maybe like 2-3 games a year (usually short too).
Playing the best games, and similar games (in my genre) helped define the framework to develop the game and more easily gauge what’s important. If I had to recommend what to do, I’d say play many games, even for a short time to get a feel for the landscape, what works and what doesn’t, and lots of inspiration and ideas. Then play a select few games a lot to really understand their genres.
Something that helped me a lot in the last few months was becoming a mod for
CozyGames where I run Cozy Game of the Week and essentially curate the best submitted game for each week. Having to pick the best game and seeing all the various games users submitted helped expose me to many more games.
Not having a handle on scope / wrong prioritisation This one I think is more common, and for me, I think this was rooted in the above point: that I didn’t understand the genres well enough to know which features are needed and which are not important.
Currently the list of mechanics in my game counts at least 17: gathering, building, talking, crafting, quests, stories, relationships, emotions, personalities, day-night cycle, world history generation, decoration, learning / skills, biomes, immigration, villager-to-villager interactions, exploration, and a whole bunch of AI features that are more about how the AI makes decisions as opposed to individual mechanics.
If I had to start again, I would choose
about half of those: gathering, building, talking, emotions, personalities, world history generation, decoration, immigration, villager-to-villager interactions (keeping a lot of the AI stuff).
Having way too big of a scope has meant that I couldn’t focus on polishing features and more content to really experience features to their full potential. The game would in my opinion feel a lot better and have a lot more gameplay if I had chosen less features and spent more time on them. For example, I only recently made the talking mechanic feel more satisfying by adding villager mouth movement, a hand-waving animation as they talk, and animating the UI transitions. That should have been done much earlier.
Apart from mechanics, I also made the map way too big. I made this decision after listening to some feedback from a play-tester a while ago. The game would have been fine, in fact, better if I had worked on the above mechanics with more content and a smaller map. In the end, because I didn’t have the content to make the bigger map more interesting to explore through, it actually hurt the experience (because there was just a lot of walking around). It also made the development a lot more painful because I now had to handle many many more objects.
Not progressing enough with programming I read a few different books on my journey including Designing Games by Tynan Sylvester, Your First Kickstarter Campaign, and the Pragmatic Programmer. I also listened to some podcasts and interviews about clean code and game design on YouTube.
However, if I had to choose what to read first, it would probably be Pragmatic Programmer. There has been a huge amount of code that has gone into the project and I’ve essentially been architecting that from scratch. During this, I’ve had to do a fair amount of refactoring and fix unnecessary bugs. But after reading this book, I had some huge learnings which have helped me make faster progress, reduce bugs, and ultimately save time.
I found the biggest success from following simple principles rather than trying to impose architecture patterns like MVC. In particular, the book chapters on de-coupling, modularity, inheritance, and refactoring were really helpful.
Not prioritising Early Access over Kickstarter Due to the above mistakes, my game doesn’t have enough content to be Early Access ready yet. If I had done all the above, I should have also chosen to go into Early Access rather than a Kickstarter.
A Kickstarter requires a massive marketing effort and requires a huge amount of people to buy your game all in one month to succeed.
Since my game is a bit more niche and doesn’t have the fantastic art direction of other games, it would have been much easier to go Early Access and iterate on the game with less sales in the beginning - using that to slowly improve the game and add the other mechanics and more content.
Not knowing enough game dev before starting the project I had finished a few games before (in Game Jams) and also published a game for Android. However, all-in-all, I had little Unity experience before I started this project.
I actually started with the BabylonJS engine before eventually switching over to Unity. This was because it was originally just a fun side-project before I decided to actually turn it into a serious game. However, I spent a few too many months too long on the BabylonJS framework thinking I could make it all play in the web. That just stemmed from not knowing the full capabilities and differences to standard game engines. I could have saved some time switching over earlier.
I’ve seen a lot of questions about which game engine to choose for your game, I’d advise just to play around with each before starting on a big project. Read the docs, watch all the Brackeys videos, and game jams are a great fun way to learn more too. It’s much easier to make a decision when you have direct experience to draw from rather than trying to make a judgement.
Spending too much time on marketing early on It’s much easier to market a game and build an audience when it’s more fleshed out and visually doesn’t look like a prototype. I made several devlogs which took literally a week to edit (in some cases more) for what amounted to mostly 300-400 views per each, with the rare exceptions reaching 3,000+ views.
I also really hate how making a devlog is a huge risk because the YouTube algorithm is a black box. No matter how long you spend on a video, there’s no guarantee of how many views it will take and the current algorithm focus, so it’s like 30+ hour dice-roll.
There’s also various posts I’d try to make that sometimes took like an hour to do (getting the right angle, or capturing the right moment) which ultimately did not have much impact.
Then, if you are also developing for a long time, social media itself can chance (eg algorithms focus less on followers) or people can just leave / delete their account in the meantime (I’ve found a fair amount of my first followers are no longer on Twitter).
I’d still advise making occasional social media posts early on in development for the purpose of getting feedback (there are just some excellent and altruistic developers giving great feedback either here or on subreddits like
Unity3d (you guys are the best)) or for making other game dev friends (eg on Twitter), but not for the purpose of building a following.
If you want to post frequently, that can also work quite well if your game is a good fit, but I wouldn’t spend more than 5 minutes on a post on average. Save the marketing until a few months before you plan to release or Kickstart.
Not setting aside enough funding for a Kickstarter ad campaign This one I place at the bottom because it’s a tricky trade-off. For me, money = development time = quality of game and visuals. So spending more time to improve the visuals I felt made a huge difference (see January vs March visuals). I had some money saved aside for running ads but I decided to consume a lot of it for this purpose, which means I’ve only been able to run a few ads here and there.
If it was possible to somehow have a much higher pool of money to start the Kickstarter with to make a bigger initial noise, I would definitely do it. It can be more effective to just pay for advertising sometimes than learning how the TikTok algorithms works (which will change by the time you learn how) and trying to make the perfect TikTok. Besides, there are some places that you can only reach with ads (eg forums or certain subreddits).
TLDR: if I had one takeaway to give, it would be read this sub or at least one postmortem a week, that way, all of these mistakes and learnings other developers made (like this post) will allow you dramatically accelerate your progress and be much more likely to make a successful game. submitted by

2023.02.21 03:28 LoneViking04 Modded Multiplayer Issues
So me and my friend have spent a lot of time modding stardew and making sure we had all the same mods and when we play solo everything is fine and shows up normal but as soon as I host a multiplayer game, certain items show up different on my friends game. For example when I see a certain foragable, my friend sees a food item. (I picked up a Lily of the Valley and they saw chicken nuggets). Another example was in a cheat menu while troubleshooting, I took out the meteorite L and R and my friend saw a Dino skeleton and it was treated as such in the game (breakable with a pick and only took up one long spot). Is there any way to fix this that someone knows of?

2023.02.02 02:26 MelancholyHeartz Does proposing before a holiday (the Flower Dance, Spirits Eve, etc) give you new dialogue w/ your spouse/soon-to-be spouse?
Hey, friends! I’ve played Stardew for awhile now but I’m still learning new things. I was scrolling on Pinterest earlier when I saw a post about dialogue from Sebastian. The OP proposed a day before the Spirit’s Eve festival and got a line along the of “How funny would it be to have a skeleton ring-bearer”. I wanted to see if anyone else experienced this sort of thing/see if it’s vanilla or not! Thanks in advance friends :)

2023.01.25 11:12 Gold-Middle-5521 [TOMT][GAME] MMO game in the open world was released between 2000-2010
- Top view camera and cartoon graphics similar to "Stardew Valley"
- There is a crafting system
- You can build your own house
- The game has a button to quickly teleport home
- You need to study items and get experience for this that can be spent on crafting recipes
- Only one server without wipes where you can get wood and stones that are not restored
- You can get raided
- There are caves in which it is very dark
- You can swim on a boat and then carry the boat over your head
- There is an item called: " Itsy Bitsy Spider Web" - it gives the most experience points
- Permanent death with loss of all skill points
- After death, your skeleton remains forever
I spent about 5 hours looking for this game and nothing came of it. Help me find it please. Perhaps the server of this game has not been working for a long time, but I still want to find it.

2022.12.19 10:14 CYGameThe Analysis of the method of swiping money in Stardew Valley by bursting wine barrels
| How to use barrels to brush money in Stardew Valley game? The following is an analysis of the Stardew Valley explosion wine barrel brushing method, https://preview.redd.it/qyfc6z5int6a1.jpg?width=616&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2d750e24858343d3524f520b63d9fe622825aa76 The fastest way to make money in this game is farming + wine making. Not much to say about farming, but the barrel material is very important. The most troublesome ones are oak resin and clay. 1. Oak resin In spring, you must plan to plant oak trees. Remember to plant them in a blank space, and they will grow in 10-12 days. There is a part in the middle of the farm, and there is a part near the greenhouse. If you have time, clear the area around the tree. The seeds will drop in a day or two. Dig it up and find a place to plant it. It is recommended to set aside a large area to plant oak trees, and go there every day to dig the seeds. Then plant in a cycle; the oak tree is cut off directly after it matures, leaving a stump (the stump can collect resin), and the seed is planted, and the stump will also drop seeds If you plan to plant in this way, there will be so many oak trees in autumn that you can't imagine. There are more than 90 oak trees on my farm at the end of autumn, and some of them will be cleared.. . In addition, I started to make resin collectors in spring, because copper is useless except for upgrading tools at this time, so let’s hang them on trees 2. Clay First of all, I didn't take advantage of any bugs in this game, including acceleration, time lag, hoeing in winter, etc., so the source of clay is mine blasting and hoeing. If you fry mines, the recommended layer is 93, which is the easiest to get out. , Dozens of clay can be exploded in a day. The bomb is suggested to be made of gold mine, sun essence, and void essence after opening the sewer. This is the most economical, after All, the gold mine is not very useful. 3. Copper ore and iron ore Copper mines can be farmed at the beginning, and by the way, if you are lucky, you can farm ancient seeds. After harvesting blueberries in summer, if you have money, it is recommended to buy part by part; There are only 41 floors of iron mines, and iron is the most scarce, so go crazy, and at the same time, you can also farm coal balls and get thief rings. The result of my doing this: the first winter is over, 560 wine barrels are already in operation, and there are nearly a hundred oak resins... mainly because there is no clay, or more, because there is no time to brush for gifts up. Go down to the Desert Skeleton Mine and take the Galaxy Sword: Going to the desert mine is actually very simple, just burn money: the suggestion is to save more than 400,000 yuan on your body, which will be enough for a lifetime next time, and you don't need to go down again. Buy more than 20 groups of stones for more than 400,000, and then buy or make a big bomb of about 100. Starting at 10 o'clock, keep putting stone ladders, don't stop, and don't stop when you see mines around you...After placing 20 groups of stones, go straight When we reach the 200th floor, the time is basically 2 or 3 in the afternoon. At this time, we start to explode the mines. It is recommended to drink coffee and not fight monsters. When the mines are blown up, just go down the ladder. In this way, I kept brushing until 1:30 in the middle of the night and went home directly with the totem. No matter how bad my luck was, I was close to a group of iridium mines (999). I was a group of more than 200... Galaxy health care is also taken, basically brush like this, you can have 20+ rainbow stones..... 2022.09.04 20:18 jesus-says-fuck-you Help, I've lost something important
Hi, I'm on my first game so please don't spoil!
I reached the bottom of the mines a few weeks ago, and kinda forgot about the skeleton key. Today I think I found out what to do with it.
BUT I LOST IT. I've checked every chest I own, everywhere in town. I used the "stardew valley item finder" website, but i doesn't show on the list of items in my save. I has vanished.
I tried going back in the mines, not there. It's not in the lost and found either.
What can I do?

2022.08.24 19:36 Ashlyjxx Impromptu Travis Stream Recap (Some Borderlands Game From Today)
context: i opened twitch, and in my recommended channels lay the vart. on a morbid whim, i'm gonna live-cap some of this.
(also, twitch. let's chat briefly. i know you probably got some trackers and cookies that suggest i'm a huge travis fan, huge mcelroy lover, because i hang out on a subreddit devoted to them. it's not true, it was a bad recommendation, and you should feel ashamed at how bad your analytics are.)
i cannot hear him. actually needed to double my computer volume.
don't know what he's playing
oh, a borderlands, ew
(you can like borderlands. i don't though. they're very samey, the jokes are not my taste, and the writing is consistently bad.)
lots of "hmm" ing
hmm...okay!
he's trying to bethesda climb up a wall for a collectible, no dice
chat asks "what's a comfort song for you?"
he answers: the swimming song. gary jules. don't know either.
i'm a purple lover, and though i usually find travis' whole style obnoxious and a blatant grab for attention, it's a nice shade today
tangent: the pickle thing. what is this. my read on it is it's a desperate attempt at standing out from the thousands and thousands and thousands of streamers, but it just comes across as LOLRANDOM XD in the worst way. or like when the only thing someone knows about you is you like frogs, so now you're the frog girl (me.)
tangent off of a tangent: you could make the argument that anything other than a parallel line is tangent off of a tangent line, since it only touches the original tangent line just the once, on intersection. you could also argue that tangents were meant to exist in relation to a curve, and so this whole premise is busted. (this is a dumb bit lol.)
he froze a dude and shattered him and said "uhhhhh yer squished!" which i think is a balance reference, but if he'd been quicker on his feet he coulda said "shattered" and gotten the same reference across. goof rating: D+
people in the chat talking about comfort music. seeing wainright, tally hall, the midnight, celeste soundtrack (good album), beauty and the beast (live action) ost, lofi hiphop beats
anecdote for my answer: years ago during the very worst of a period of bleak depression, i used to spend hours wandering the field behind my home with my dog. during those walks, a go-to pair of albums that i listened to back-to-back constantly was echoes by jenn grant, followed by wardancer by jesse thomas. so i guess those. oh, and very very on the nose, but get lonely by the mountain goats. if i feel like shit and wanna make it worse, i'll listen to that.
i would be very interested in fellow jerkers' answers to that question! i promise i'll actually look at the answers, unlike the travis.
out of context chat comment as i was looking for comfort music responses: "i mean, under capitalism, that seems like the most useful phrase."
not gonna look try to find the context for that, because i don't trust vart fans to use that in a way that wouldn't make me go instantly insane
trav makes a ~lot~ of inane small talk. lots of stuff like "what about ~that~, mr skeleton" and "oh cool!" and "awww what?" and "okay!"
someone in chat gave him a tip, and he replied something like "thank you! i will take that into consideration!! i really really appreciate it!.....i hope i don't come across as sarcastic or ungrateful! that's a me thing! it's been an issue all my life!"
and to be fair, he sounded EXTREMELY sarcastic haha
softie in the chat: ur doing great travis <3
there's a lot going on with his layout. others have talked about it. today it's game, vart cam, fishcam, caption bot box, tracker bot, and an image of a pickle in sunglasses that says "home of the chill pickles" (stop it)
i've been here long enough to get 80 Vart Bux :(
the tracker bot says fill the pickle jar, ends in 7 days. he's got 479 pickles out of his goal of 500. dollars? subs?? actual pickles??? don't know.
the pickle thing seems like trans girl appropriation, is a discourse i'd start if i were the worst or very bored.
i'll say that coming from the stardew recaps and the elden ring recap, his gameplay hasn't been insufferable, but also i've been distracted writing this, so
out of context chat message: "yes he has! there are Travbit redemptions for it too" :/
noticed his chat is verified accounts only, which is fair, and also i am not interested in participating. but taking this as an opportunity to step on the soapbox for one single moment to say: i'm not giving twitch my fucking phone number lmao
apparently trav is a big destiny-head, says he needs to force himself to get out of the destiny mindset while playing this
caption bot is really trying their best with trav's mumbling. hang in there bud <3
so what's the deal with this game? it's very fantasy, skeletons and trolls and castles, but the player has guns like it's a borderlands.
trav addresses the assembly: how's everybody doing?
a full minute later, no answer lmao
still nobody has answered the travis' question, they must know by now he won't interact to their answers
(retroactive note: literally not one person answered that question.)
just seeing trav's character now, looks a bit magnus-y, got an axe and a red beard. mostly just some dude.
the writing in this game fucking sucks lol
two of the things you can do with Vart Bux on his stream:
"contribute to the cult's totem"(????)
"it's a-me! the briney-est..." (if you have 100,000 Vart Bux, you can figure out what this one means.)
a very tired joke from trav about stealing public items in a video game, the type people have been making since at least a link to the past. goof rating: F, see me after class
i'm flagging, friends
there's a lisa frank style rainbow in the background of this fantasy borderlands city, because LOLRANDOM XD
these days travis kind of looks like john roderick (of the hit band the long winters). for my tastes, not a bad look, aside from the association with he who beaned.
some companion in the game squawked unintelligibly, which i remember happening a lot in borderlands games
----------
here's your recap within the recap for the fishcam:
lots of leafy greenery
lots of little fish buddies, lots of movement, the orange fishies stand out
the fishcam is a respite within enemy territory, i'm among
us friends
anecdote: jerma did a dumb bit during a boring stream where he put up a picture-in-picture with a bird cam, which was very dumb and very funny. eventually he made the bird cam the big screen and darkest dungeon 2 the tiny screen. i like those kinds of off-the-cuff jokes, they're very good.
i made the mistake of reminding myself of better streamers :(
closing thoughts (for the recap within the recap): the fishcam is cool! it's a nice momentary distraction from whatever trav is doing. not interesting enough (or big enough) for me to keep watching. i like the very vertical fish with the big fins, i had a fish like that as a kid, named Angela (oh, it's an angel fish, duh. it was bugging me that i couldn't remember the name. thanks kid me, for naming it something very on the nose.)
honestly, of all of trav's failings as a streamer, i think the fishcam is cool and good. it's not distracting, but when you notice it, it's nice for a few moments.
--------------
shifted my attention back just in time for more companion squawking. this tina character is annoying on purpose, which seems like something a bad person would write :(
inane mumbling from trav narrating what he's doing.
chat message: this game is stacked in the voice department! :/
in the time i've been watching (40min), trav has read chat three times. i don't have much opinion about that; for me, it depends on the streamer, the stream, and the game.
i'd note that for a person who built a lot of his livelihood on culitivating parasocial relationships among
us his fans, seems like he should interact more.
oh, this is like a ttrpg video game. the squawker is the dm, i guess? she introduced a binicorn, which seems like bit stealing. a cop like trav should definitely file a report with the bit police.
trav just accidentally took a swing at the binicorn lol. that was actually funny. not attributable to travis, thankfully.
the binicorn's name is butt stallion. LOL. LMAO. HAHAHA. top notch humor, borderlands. goof rating: Z-
christ, the writing in this game fucking sucks. it's honestly elevating trav, by comparison.
reminder to self: when trav tries to be funny, this is how his humor comes across, like borderlands. elevation canceled.
end of the stream voice, thanks christ almighty.
trav just got raided lol
the travis demands we thank liz. thanks liz for liz, whoever you are.
chat message: let's
chat message canceled, because vart cut himself off to raid someone literally mid-sentence lmao. it's your first stream, so don't be too hard on yourself. i don't remember the message. some pickle reference that was very dumb, though.
new streamer is VERY high energy, in a way that isn't my speed. they seem much more competent than the travis, though. immediately engages with the raiders, gives their pronouns, talks about what the streams was talking about before they joined, etc.
closing thoughts: not unbearable, but i would never seek this out except to jerk. it was a bad use of 50 minutes (plus 60 minutes editing, because i'm neurotic.)
judging from other recaps of his streams, i lucked into his A game. it's worse than the worst my go-to streamers put out.
(my go to streamers are jerma and waypoint, for whatever that's worth.)
anecdote (not an anecdote, dummy): if i were to put myself on the spot to recommend a jerma stream and a waypoint stream, with the intention of seeing if you like them, it would be:
jerma's
warioware get it together stream, a collection of all of the things that make for a great jerma stream. he has a meltdown, he does a dumb bit, the game is extremely engaging to watch.
waypoint answer is an
8 hour stream they did forever ago. they played a bunch of different games, got very goofy, had a lot of fun, it's really great.
back to closing thoughts: seems like this stream would make for adequate background noise, if that's what you're looking for? like. streamer who's very low energy and quiet, largely disengaged from the audience, you're basically just watching someone play a game from afar. you can just hang out in chat or have white noise in the background. but even then, there are better options. i don't actually wanna watch someone play powerwash simulator, but the right streamer can make that a solid time or good background noise. travis could not. anyway.
after the initial energy wore off, this felt like i was doing a homework assignment lol. i hope i manage a passing grade

2022.08.10 18:40 vilvaria 29 NB CHILE - Let's be pals!
Hi everyone! I'm val and I'm just looking for people to casually exchange words! on paper! Either in English or Spanish, both are ok
I'm very rambly and I've rewritten this introduction like 10 times already because I don't know how to explain myself sometimes so if you are ok with that OR are like that then let's talk!
A little about me: - I love coffee! drinking, preparing, smelling, tasting and all that neat stuff! - I'm very good at baking and cooking (maybe we can exchange some recipes!) -I listen to most types of music, the genre doesn't really matter to me, it's ~°•○the vibes○•°~ that are important! but also I love TWRP -I like games but currently I'm taking a break from Destiny 2 and Online Gaming™️ in general by playing modded Stardew Valley instead. Other than that um... Nintendo games? pokemon, acnh, botw, all that!
-Other stuff I'd like to add but didn't want to put on it's own: I'm a very casual person and Not Serious at all. I like stars and how little it makes me feel when I look up at the night sky... but im scared of aliens. I LOVE ocs! if you have them let me learn about the guys that live in your brain. I draw from time to time, nothing big, just doodles. I like skeletons, skulls and that kinda stuff but in a chill way I think? 💀
And that's about it really! maybe we can exchange little things like pressed flowers, feathers, photos maybe? all that corny stuff 🌽 (I love corny stuff!!)
There's so many things we can do I'm excited! so if you are interested in just talking about anything, pm me! I'll be your pal c:

This is my second playthrough and I'm determined to reach 100% perfection before the 1.5 drop on mobile stardew. But for the life of me I cant seem to find the prehistoric scapula and it's driving me insane. Its the last thing I need to complete the museum. Please help. 2022.07.23 14:10 SwarmSwampSwim Take Me Home Stardew Roads: Episode 9- An Unofficial Recap
In an earlier post I had rejoiced- or perhaps mourned- that I no longer felt at home here in this old shade of Pelican Town, in the company I had sought while I suffered. I panicked, if only momentarily, that I could no longer understand the alien language that dots this inhospitable landscape- I wished I to might escape in the same manner of my absent friend, my lost lover- my dearest Auto captioning.
I realise now these trials may yet be unescapable-
Take me home, Stardew Roads- by the heavens- take me home-
My friends have started talking- in the quiet hours of the morning my phone light sheds its dismal blue- the soft echoing bell of their conversations- the whispers at the edge of the night.
I check, in morning proper to find their conversations echo- the ghost of the thing. Norman, Oklahoma.
The name is light on their tongue. It bears not the weight it causes- sits deep within my stomach.
Norman, Oklahoma.
To distract myself I play my odd computer games- the lot of us are well set up, a home with many doors- many rooms- animals gathered around the fences, monsters at the far gate. We are safe here, we are warm.
The world crashes in an instant- a raid like none other destroys all we've built. The domesticated beasts- the farm stock rally.
We spend our days gathering what's left of them- the flesh, the leather scraps amongst the wildflowers.
None survive.
It takes many weeks to test this hypothesis. In a month- two months- I find myself far from the ruins of our old, humble life, and alone- sprinting blindly through the night, I stumble upon it- upon him-
He had fled- he had survived-
In the darkness, far from home, the soft pastel glow of his name tag's dull light guides me on.
Travis McElroy
The unkillable. A god amongst pigs.
In as soft a tone as I can muster- all other pleas ignored- I beg of you
Take Me Home, Stardew Roads.
This is the longest video yet, clocking in at two and a half hours, and with ten entirely positive comments, it's time to return home.
2:38 - Stream starts.
3:13 - Travis starts a new game.
4:04 - Travis bounces around ideas for his new farm, settles on "DoinMyBest" farm, heralded by farmer "MaxFun" Maximillian Funillian's favourite thing, is unsurprisingly, "support."
4:35- In a subtle nod to the death of the Max Fun Network, Travis decides to make Maximum Funimum a zombie.
6:30 - Travis is surprised his 50 mods haven't crashed the game, and whilst I hate to crush his poor little soul- my cheapest possible model, falling apart little laptop currently has a little over a hundred mods in its Stardew folder and is still powering through like a champ.
7:07 - Travis is surprised- points out that the "Woody" and the skeleton in the opening cutscene - he's pretty sure- is actually base game, not modded content. I'm surprised he doesn't have this thing memorised.
"Woody" is in quotations here, as there's a lot of discussion in the comments that claim that he might not be a toy story reference, so much as a Monkey Island Stan cameo. I'm a monkey Island fan, so I'll blindly support the later.
7:33 - It took Travis, by his own admittance. Three days. To set up all his mods. He also admits to "not really looking at most of them." What could this man possibly have been doing. for. three. days.
8:35 - Mods Spotted: Right off the bat- Pam Bus.
Travis has been greeted by a woman called... "Veronica." and for the first time I well and truly do not know what mod Travis is using here. Tell me your secrets, Veronica.
8:56 - Veronica is apparently the town's carpenter. Robin has done the impossible and fled the Stardew Roads. May she rest with my beloved Auto captioning. May they both find peace.
9:07 - Mod Spotted: This one's just a minor content patcher, Travis' house has been replaced by a whimsical fantasy home.
10:49 - Chat keeps talking about e-girl mayor Lewis.
11:32 - Travis' game almost crashes. This is, unfortunately, one of the many joys of modded life.
12:46 - Mod Spotted: Travis has elegant tools. I didn't notice because I’ve been using that mod for so long I no longer think of it as being modified. The cute bows are a core part of the SDV experience for me.
12:46 - Travis pulls up his fucking cheat menu where he can summon any in game item. I hate this. What's the fucking point Trav. This is a dismal sight for the next two hours of content. I'm placing my bet, right here right now- absolutely fucking nothing will happen.
Travis will cut trees. He will go to bed. He won't engage with any modded content.
This will be the next two hours of my life.
13:36 - Mod Spotted: Travis has a fun and mystical cave. What's the point. All my enthusiasm has been sapped.
14:33 - Travis starts cutting wood. Luckily, it doesn't take many hits to fell a tree, what with his iridium axe.
14:48 - Travis complains that he can't tell the difference between his tools now that they all have little bows slapped on them. Nothing else in regard to their textures have changed.
17:31 - Travis walks past "Grandpa's Shed" from the Stardew Valley expanded mod, refers to it as "the little red schoolhouse." For whatever reason, this is the final straw for me personally. I hate Travis. I hate this. My relationship with Travis is not parasocial, because he knows he is doing this to me. He is acting with violent intent towards me, personally and individually.
18:05 -Mod Spotted: Harvey is a satyr. Travis calls him "a little pan boy," and i thought he was just being very patronising against poor, pansexual Harvey.
Leah is a fox girl, so I'm hedging my bet that this is the fantasy Stardew characters mod.
Despite what Travis said about taking three days to find and load all his mods- every mod spotted so far is from the first three pages of Nexus' most popular Stardew mods, with the exception of Veronica, who remains a mystery to me.
20:34 - Travis complains that two of his mods aren't loading- (Gus is Wendy’s, George is a train.) I'd need to take a look at his mods, but I'm assuming that the issue for the first one is that Stardew Expanded has overridden Wendy's. I’d maybe take a shot at reordering his plugins if he’s using a mod organiser that will allow him to do so- or toss that one out as being entirely incompatible.
23:14- Mod Spotted: Travis finds the actual little red schoolhouse.
25:19 - Travis whines that he doesn't want to cheat, and then summons 999 turnip seeds, and enough deluxe speed grow to drown a small city.
28:32 - Oh fuck me. Someone asks for fish names. Travis indulges, and I skip ahead 15 seconds. When I come back, someone has asked for a fish type, and name breakdown (hell on earth), and Travis has unplugged the fish cam with his feet (divine punishment.)
30:02 - Travis whines that he doesn't want to cheat, and then summons two magic rings.
34:31 - Travis goes insane, attempting to find what he calls his "to do list." This isn't something that exists in SDV, and no one in chat knows what he's looking for, other than maybe the journal. He offers no additional information, so, everyone just keeps recommending that he check out the journal.
Someone tells him to fit f4, and he does, crashing the game. The noise he makes after this doesn't make the jape worthwhile, so I won’t recommend you watch it.
35:30 - Travis tells us he's actually looking for a mod called "T-o-w D-e-w List," which isn't a mod. To-Dew list is, and I think that's what he means. I'm unfamiliar with this one, but with a precursory nexus check, I don't see why it could possibly matter.
You're right, Travis- it is really, really important you have a note that will pop up to tell you to "build barn" or "pet cat,” as you go about your days immediately spawning millions of dollars’ worth of items and never once having to spend more than thirty seconds trying to achieve something.
37:23 - Someone asks in chat if Travis is going to focus on mining or farming this game, and as the foremost researcher into Travis' Stardew streams, I can confidently say that the answer is neither. Someone will ask who Travis will romance this run, and that will be the rest of the stream.
43:13 - For “purely scientific reasons" Travis gives himself $627,370
43:39 - Travis is surprised to learn that Shane works at Joja mart.
46:00 - In our second mod-based difficulty, Maximus Funimus completely disappears. Having an out of body experience, Travis tries everything to bring his beloved, undead son back. This is also a metaphor for the continued decline of the Maximum Fun Network, and the McElroy family brand, and how he (Travis), is the only one attempting to revitalise it.
It's just now occurred to me how odd it is that there's a Maxfun banner on his SDV streams. How tight is their grasp over the first family of podcasting? This isn't podcasting, this is an anti-capitalist YouTube channel put out by my favourite good good boys so they can celebrate each other, not some big media group with deals and partnerships.
49:09 - "Just for research purposes" Travis spawns 999 golden pumpkins and gifts them to every villager in sight.
Cool stream Trav, almost an hour in and I don't think you've done a single thing. I'm not willing to give you a single achievement. In case anyone’s interested, when Travis finally bought up his To-Dew list, he wrote down three items: Build coop, build barn, and build silo. So far, he's done nothing to achieve any of those goals, despite them all being incredibly easy with his infinite anything cheating.
57:34 - Travis asks how long people normally put into their modded games, because he is loving the experience and wants to play in this space forever. Personally, I can get super into my modded saves, I can burn hours babey- but put me in front of this nothing of a mod list, and I'd drop it in half an hour, tops.
1:04:56 - Mod Spotted: Travis' new pet is the ghost of his grandfather.
There's something about neo-Travis, I can't say what exactly, but nothing he does makes a joke stick to me. Either he'll not mention the mod at all and play it off as being completely normal, ie- the monster men milking- or he'll make a big deal out of it, constantly reflecting on his wild wacky new game- and regardless of how he plays it, the joke does nothing more than annoy me. He’s turned me into a nit-picker. I’m actively becoming a worse person the longer I watch these streams.
1:10:23 - Travis has built a silo and commissioned the building of a barn. Somehow, despite this being many, many episodes since the first time he placed something, I'm still confused, and repulsed by his farm design choices.
1:13:11 - Travis individually searches for every museum item so that he can finish the entire thing in one sitting.
If you're wondering whether this is a good stream- I cannot stress enough- No.
1:16:28 - Travis tries to convince us that this is a normal way to stream a video game.
1:16:35 - Travis makes some hilarious commentary about Gunther sitting there, watching him manifest all these things- without realising that I too, am sitting here and watching him manifest all of these things. One. At. A. Fucking. Time.
1:18:21 - Travis has pulled up the Stardew Valley wikia and is cross referencing all of the things he is summoning.
Quality fucking content Trav.
You know- there's a TAZ moment that an era ago was one of my favourite bits from any podcast, and still probably holds up- it's a live show, in which Griffin tries to set up a fun, fishing mini game. Low stakes, simple puzzle, a lovable NPC- and the Tres Horny Boys, in their usual manner- instead take things wildly off course: Magnus is devoured by the big bass- the NPC is murdered the instant he’s introduced, and Clint banishes both the fish, and Magnus to the shadow realm- prompting Griffin to abandon his set up and attempt to move on briefly- until he breaks his calm character and turns to scold them-
“I didn't expect it to go like that.”
It's fitting that it's Travis who responds- who in turn, as collected as could be, asks what Griffin was expecting.
“For you to catch a fish in the fucking fish mini-game? Is that an unreasonable expectation?”
In many ways, my content is irrevocably tied to Travis'. Only as entertaining as his antics- I play the straight man, perpetually tormented in the wacko bizarro world that is his Stardew Valley mind palace. I'm the Squidward to his SpongeBob- the Griffin to his Travis.
What did I expect from him? That he'd catch a fish and make a farm in this farming simulator? That he'd create lasting bonds with the characters he came across? That he’d entertain me? That in these last, slowly dawning episodes he might help me- might take my hand and make things easy on me- and allow me some simple, fulfilling conclusion to my work?
Is that an unreasonable expectation?
What did I expect to happen?
1:22:20 - Travis stops individually googling Stardew Valley museum artifacts so he could plug Maxfun.
1:24:20 - Fuck me he's back at it.
1:28:23 - Travis fully stocks the museum. One item at a time.
You want to know what’s funny about this- not funny humorous so much as funny bitter? His whole motivation to do this was that he wanted the rusty key so he could venture into the sewers and meet Krobus.
In Stardew Valley Expanded, however, the sewer exploration event is not at all triggered by museum-completeness.
There was no point to any of this.
1:33:35 - Travis asks us to email him trivia questions that “we think he would know” so he can do his hot sauce challenge.
Isn't sure if he should try and answer a question and drink a hot sauce if he answers wrong- or if he should try a hot sauce and then try and answer a question.
In an alternate, but not too different reality, Travis' hot sauce trivia stream was fifteen minutes of a man drinking hot sauces, and occasionally (incorrectly) answering questions about his life, and his favourite video game.
He tells us we don't have to provide an answer for the questions we send him.
1:36:39 - Marlon (almost) unlocks the sewer for Travis.
It will surprise none of you that I'm a lover of tragedy. The dying man's grin sort of tale- the "You will win, but you won't ever get what you want" sort of narrative.
I wish, not for the first time, that this story ends in tragedy.
I then feel immediately guilty for wishing this.
1:37:27 - Travis neglects his grandpa cat.
1:42:15 - Travis spawns 999 staircases and uses them to skip every level in the mines. Even on 2x speed this is tedious.
1:43:51 - Travis gives up at floor 40
1:47:59 - I look away for five minutes and Travis IS FUCKING CUTTING WOOD AGAIN.
1:48:20 - The past ten minutes have been Travis cutting wood, complaining that the community centre wasn't open, and talking about moist grandpa. Nothing content, Travis, nothing content.
1:49:09 - Travis jokes about moving in on the wizard. I'd snark at him for going after the character I myself am currently seducing- but I know the thought of actually having a mlm relationship in a game is something Travis could never seriously conceptualise.
Editor’s note: He has a "the wizard is actually a hot e-girl!" mod that he doesn't bring up during this entire discussion. I’d call this the smallest scale possible queer baiting- but I don’t care enough, and also- the mod is one of many that Travis has not checked, and as such- it does not work.
1:53:16 - None of the villagers have more than one heart with Travis, despite him trying to buy their affections with his golden pumpkins for the past two hours. Perhaps I will get my vindictive tragedy after all.
1:57:14 - Travis tells us the new episode of Schmanners is finally up, and I felt like passing along the message, knowing that all you schmanner heads out there have just been on the edge of your seats waiting for this one.
He tells us we should watch to learn the origin of the phrase "hissy fit" and right off the bat I'm going to make an off the dome guess that it comes from “fits of hysteria," in hopes of saving anyone from watching an episode of Schamnners.
Someone in chat says they just recently learnt the origin of not looking gift horses in the mouth and I’m going to throw you a free one- it's because you can tell a horse's age from the state of their teeth. To modernise the saying a little more - its the same moral message as "Don't look a gifted iPhone in the battery health."
1:59:47 - Travis blows up half his crop field with a misplaced bomb.
2:02:01 - I've replayed this section a handful of times to try and figure out exactly what happens.
Travis walks into the wizard's tower. Greets the wizard, by saying "Hello, handsome zombie, I like your underpants." And then he- skips the cutscene, and says "yeah, I skipped it, but I got to harhee-"
Originally I thought he said, "I got too horny." and then I thought about it harder and realised he probably meant
"I've got to hurry." - But it could honestly go either way. It might have just been a donkey impression, I’m unsure.
2:11:37 - Travis unlocks the community centre and then proceeds to spend the rest of the video cheating his way through it the only way he knows how- one item at a time.
2:20:54 - Stream ends.
Jesus Christ, and fingers crossed. Everyone say a little prayer with me that by some miracle I’m able to wring something vaguely emotional and fulfilling out of the final episode and Travis doesn’t just spend three hours pulling individual items from his infinite inventory to complete the community centre live on stream. Amen.
Also was I the only one who thought that all of the LivingTree pc's were squirrels or some other tree dwelling rodentia? Everyone else seems to think that they're humanoids, but I guess that's what happens when Griffin can't be bothered describing anything, smh.

Hai I go by Sai
Some things about me: I love gaming, lately I have been playing God Eater 3, Stardew Valley, Monster Hunter, and Payday 2. I have a pretty decent sized steam library. I've been watching anime lately, Loving Spy x Family and Skeleton Knight. I watch the occasional movie, my favorite right now being Everything Everywhere all at Once. I typically am a homebody and usually am quick with my responses.
Looking for really anyone that wants to have a chat long or short. I have discord if you want to move over there. Hopefully I make some good friends. Make sure to tell me a little about yourself or I probably won't respond.
