2023.05.30 20:55 CharlieMostly 2015 Nissan Quest: battery and brake lights come on, but passes alternator test. Could it be the belt?
My wife drives a 2015 Nissan Quest and she's been noticing her brake and battery lights coming on intermittently. The other day, the lights came on and she lost power and had to come to a stop, where she turned off the engine, and then turned it on again and everything was running normally with no warning lights. I took it to AutoZone to have them run a battery/startealternator test, and everything passed. I drove it around a bunch yesterday and noticed the lights came on, so I immediately drove to AutoZone again to have them re-run the test, and still it passed.
I've also recently started to notice that the power steering seems to be slipping a bit at times, so I'm wondering if the serpentine belt is failing and causing the alternator to slip as well, thus throwing up these warning lights. Unfortunately, I can't find a good enough angle to visually inspect the belt.
That's my suspicion, but I could really use some insight here. Thanks in advance.

2023.05.30 19:02 justanswermethis I’m need of help. No start no crank
Bought a no start 2009 G37X for cheap. Was told it needed a starter. Removed the starter and took it to the auto parts store and it tested good. I’ve been reading forums about the steering wheel lock mechanism causing a no start. The steering wheel does not lock when the key is off. I pulled codes but there is no codes about a starting issue. Drive airbag was deployed and hasn’t been replaced. Could the airbag system cause a no start? Sounds like previous owner was driving it with the airbag removed but didn’t wanna spend the money to fix it. A shop told them it needed a starter and now here we are. Any help is appreciated.
UPDATE: I removed the batter and found the other fuse panel. I found the A/T CONT 10 amp fuse blown. Now when I try to start it I can hear the starter trying to engage but it won’t crank. Starter just tested good at the auto parts store a few hours ago. Battery is still reading 12.5 volts. Making progress but still won’t start

2023.05.30 17:18 Fifty_Shades_of_Nay [2023/05/30] Driver facing charges in Stoughton road rage shooting, crash (Stoughton, MA)
STOUGHTON, Mass. — A Massachusetts man is set to face charges Tuesday for a Stoughton road rage shooting and crash that was sparked by an argument between two people in a Canton convenience store, according to police.
Anh Kieu, 39, of Quincy, was arrested Saturday on four counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violations.
According to police, an argument between Kieu and another man at the 7-Eleven on Washington Street in Canton on Wednesday night led to a shooting and a crash in Stoughton at the intersection of Plain and West streets.
Stoughton police said the man stated that Kieu pointed a gun at him while in the 7-Eleven, which prompted him to run to his friend's car.
The driver of the Nissan then left the parking lot and Kieu, who was driving a Cadillac, followed that car, according to police. The driver of the Nissan told police that out of fear he and his friends were being chased by Kieu, he drove at a high rate of speed.
Police said the Nissan eventually made it to the intersection of Pearl and Central streets in Stoughton, which is where witnesses said Kieu's vehicle crossed the double-yellow line into the opposite lane of traffic and pulled up to the Altima. Witnesses told police that Kieu pointed a revolver at the four occupants of the Nissan.
The driver of the Nissan, whom police said has a valid license to carry and a properly-registered firearm, yelled for his friends to get down. Police said that the man driving the Nissan fired seven rounds into the Cadillac because he was "fearing for his life," and that one of the bullets struck Kieu.
Police said the Nissan then fled the scene and Kieu continued to follow them in his Cadillac. The driver of the Nissan told police that he remained fearful of Kieu and continued to speed, which ultimately led to the crash at the intersection of Plain and West streets.
Stoughton police said a black pellet gun, an SNR 357 revolver, was recovered from the Cadillac Kieu was driving.
Kieu is being held on $20,000 bail and is expected to be arraigned Tuesday in Stoughton District Court.

2023.05.30 15:32 DrVonSmashy [Brazil] Recommend a 4x4 car/pickup truck; also, how old is too old?
I've moved to somewhat-rural Brazil and am looking at getting an affordable 4x4. I don't drive daily, it's for weekly/monthly supermarket runs and road trips to unpaved national parks. I also move relatively often, so it's handy if it's big enough to haul a bunch of crap so I don't need to rent a van for every move. I've only ever owned motorcycles (though I've rented a bunch of cars over the years for shorter trips).
Brazil is a little limited in what vehicles are on sale, especially for AWD, and the pricing varies enormously between brands due to taxes (imports vs. assembled domestically vs. produced domestically). I'm looking at older vehicles since cost is the major factor - my Harley is from 2009 and never had significant issues. I've searched for 2011 or newer and only look at sub-180,000 KM (~110,000 miles), but dropping to 2008 with the same mileage drops the asking price by ~20% - how old is too old?
The best deals appear to be for the Ford Ranger and Chevy S10. Japanese options are a bit more expensive (Nissan Frontier, Mitsubishi L200, and the Toyota Hilux is almost a luxury car). I do like the Fiat Toro but it's a newer model and therefore more expensive.
Moving away from pickups, the Jeep Renegade can also be had relatively cheap, Ford Ecosport even cheaper, but then I get far less hauling space. Could be talked into it if I need to get a vehicle younger than 2013. Being smaller, I suppose they'd get better fuel economy and be more convenient in traffic or bad weather on dirt tracks.
Comfort and reliability are important. Relative fuel economy is a nice-to-have. I'd love to do my own maintenance like I do with motorcycles, but I guess then my only option would be a Willys Jeep, which would be hilarious but useless. Don't care about features beyond 4 wheels and air conditioning. Budget for any Brazilians reading would be ideally 50,000 BRL, can stretch to 60,000 if I must.
Which of the above would you recommend? How important is age for relatively low-mileage 4x4s?

2023.05.30 15:29 Bassblaster505 Considering a newer car that can get out of its own way for about 20K-ish
Ive been dailying a 2012 Chrysler 200 2.4 for almost 5 years. it just turned over 78K miles (bought at 32K) but ive been in 4 decent collisions with wildlife totaling 4 bumper covers, 2 sets of headlights, an AC condenser, 2 core supports and general wear is 2 wheel bearings, 1 tie rod end, 1 lower ball joint, 1 starter and i currently have an axle that has flung its grease everywhere that im waiting for it to explode lmfao and a shock thats leaking. badly. Im at the point where i just want somithing else, especially since im no longer in school and im considering moving more to the city for better jobs.
Im looking at options for a newer car that can actually get out of its own way. This 200 is the 2nd slowest car ive owned, only being beat by my 92 toyota corrola wagon lol. For about 2 years i was dead set on getting another 200 but with the 3.6L until recently i decided this really isnt THAT good of a car. Merging onto the interstate is a foot to the floor and hold it. Top speed of 95? Really?
So, Ive looked into the Kia K5 GT, but they seems to be out of my price range, if you can even find one
2017+ ford fusion sport 2.7L. Love the fusion, my dad had a 12 and a 17. these are surprisingly quick and can be had for 19-23K. Really want one of these lil sleepers.
Focus ST/RS but i dont really want another manual vehicle, i save that for the weekend toys.
Honda accord sport 2.0T?
Are all Golf GTI's 30k+?
04-08 Acura TL but ohio rust has eaten most of them up
I Used to have an 03 Infinity G35, while a fun daily it shares the same story as the TL, but usually more beat on
dont care for Nissan 350/370. at all. yuck.
What else is out there new or used?

2023.05.30 00:51 Melodic_Line_9915 My radio turns off my 2009 Nissan Versa (hatchback), and there’s no more radios made?
To my understanding of research, the radios for the 2009 Versa has been discontinued, or no longer available.
The AVH x2700Bs is the only radio I have seen someone install in an online video. Would anyone have any suggestions for it, or other?
My current radio turns off my car. It starts for a few minutes, but it doesn’t stay on. I removed/disabled the wiring connected to the radio for now to avoid any possibility of my car shutting down on the highway. Does anyone have any suggestions TO NOT buy a new radio, and install it? Why?
I would like this car to be sold so I really want it to not be liable for any risks to the new owner (if I can find one looking for this car nowadays).

2023.05.29 21:18 FILEXICANO-EN-AZTLAN P0455 EVAP Large Leak
2005 Nissan Altima S 2.5
I changed out the Vent Valve and cleaned the gas cap. I understand that the check engine light will be on for a bit but I went to use the scanner to double check my work and it’s still giving me the code. Will the scanner still read the error just like the engine light will stay on or if I did it right it should read no fault.
If I didn’t do it right could it be the purge valve? Thank you.

2023.05.29 20:58 Shadowkill9987 Urgent help needed 2018 Nissan Altima won’t start anymore
I guess I thought it was simple and tried to replace my speaker system only my door speakers tho. The first one on drivers side went well I put it in, covered back up reconnected wires, car started and everything but made a strange noise at that point too. But then I go to passenger side and replace it and now the car keeps clicking but won’t start I tried many times and I’m quite scared that I did something very bad to my car but I guess I was ignorant in thinking that the speakers won’t have anything to do with the battery, any ideas on what I can do or what happened? I’ll always ask mechanics to do it now I’ve learned my lesson

2023.05.29 19:24 Difficult_Club6601 2009 Nissan Versa
Just got a hand-me-down car from my Dad and after the drive back to my place the car is overheating. I checked for a coolant leak and it’s definitely holding fluid. I’m a bit strapped for cash right now so I don’t want to pay for a diagnostic test just for them to tell something I could find out with a little advice. I don’t plan on DIY-ing this repair unless its something I think I won’t catastrophically mess up and total the car LOL. Just want to know what else it could be before I get scammed by a shop because I don’t know what I’m doing. (Not all mechanics are bad, this has just happened to me a couple of times because I’ve been naive) PLEASE HELP

2023.05.29 18:01 KingDominoTheSecond Chronic fuel pump issues, replaced pump several times, still losing fuel pressure (1994 Nissan Altima)
My car loses fuel pressure by the time it warms up, I'm starting to think there has to be something electrical going on. I cleaned out the tank (which was super dirty actually), changed pumps 3 times now, replaced fuel lines, tested the fuel pressure regulator, fixed a leak, and replaced the fuel filter, but every time this issue comes back. The car runs fine at first, but loses fuel pressure once it warms up. I tested this with a fuel pressure gauge. With vacuum to the FPR, it stays at 33 PSI (stock spec), and once it warms up the needle seems to jump around a lot around 28-34, almost as if it's vibrating, then when it goes under load, the pressure can drop as low as 10 psi, 5 psi, or sometimes it cuts out entirely and the car stalls. I recently cleaned out the tank, replaced the filter, and I even put a much more expensive DW200 fuel pump in that has over double the flow rate at the same voltage, amperage, and PSI as the OEM pump, but the issue still persists. When I prime the pump after stalling or when the car has already warmed up, the pump sounds like it's struggling to prime, almost as if it's under load. I think I'm going to replace the relay, do you guys think I should just rewire it to its own relay and wiring completely using a kit like the one DW (short for Deatchwerks I think). I've been dealing with this issue for months and I just want to be able to drive this car around again.

2023.05.29 17:36 ToeSuckingFiend Should I trade in my Altima?
I have a 2018 Nissan Altima 2.5 SL with another year of payments (original terms were 60m @ 4.9%) with 81,500 miles.
I have been reading through this sub and have learned of the transmission issues they have. My fear would be in a few years the transmission is shot and I lose all trade in value AND it would have too many miles to get any good trade in value.
Obviously the market is not great right now, but if I can pay off my loan early and get 12-14k for a trade in, is it worth it to get rid of the Altima?

2023.05.29 14:54 Man_thisistheway_do Best recommended Cargo van? Ford, Chevy, or Nissan.
Going to be purchasing a Cargo Van for work soon (Plumbing). Only restriction is has to be a 2009 or newer.
Main options from the dealers located close to me are Chevy Express, Ford Transit (or Econoline), and the Nissan NV.
I am comfortable and skilled enough to do a majority of my own maintenance or fixes, but does anyone have any experience with which is the best option? Do you see one model with more mechanical issues than the other?
Whichever I get I gotta stick to until I can afford to upgrade it and the majority of the vans are already around 180K miles.
Any info is very much appreciated, thanks in Advance.
