2023.05.28 14:33 derhundi Trackmania performance problems since ~2 months

Hey guys,
Im already playing tm for about 2 years and never had such problems before. No other game in my libary has this kind of problem. I just want to play again and I think my setup isn't the problem: i9 9900K 4.6Ghz 64 Gb DRR4 3200Mhz RTX 3070 ti Windows 11 64 bit Game is installed on m.2

The problem is that I can't play lag/stutter free this game anymore. It doesn't matter if I play the campaign or online. It feels like something in the background is forcing tm to not utilize 100% or sth. I installed the game through steam (controller support and before the steam release opened it with steam too). Vsync and other options with sync deactivated. Tried with Vsync only too but no changes. Tried to play the game in fullscreen and in windowed fullscreen, also no changes. Tried to set everything on low and also on high/Ultra but the stutters are still there... I reinstalled my Gpu drivers, fresh installed tm (deleted the whole folder) and no settings changed. OpenPlanet not installed and it still lags. I get around 100 to 140 fps depends on map but my game stutters so bad its not payable... No other game has this problems... I already tried to find the problem in my hardware, but also no crashes in prime95 and furmark (30 min). I deactivated so much programs/services in my startup...
Does someone know how I can fix this or has someone else this problem too?

2023.05.28 14:31 spauldhaliwal Introducing Dispatch, A Plex-integrated launcher for Android TV. Beta testing will start soon.

Hello! I'm happy to officially announce Dispatch, a new experience for your TV. To start, here are some screenshots, a demo video, as well as a website to sign up for the beta. Later down, you'll find some more info about the app and my plans for it. Feel free to ask any other questions in the comments!
Screenshots
Demo video note: screen recording introduces a certain amount of stutter that is not present in the actual app
Sign up for the beta!
-----------------------------------
What is it? Dispatch is a new launcher for Android TV devices (with more devices coming) that will integrate directly with your existing media services, such as Plex. Dispatch aims to provide a unique, immersive, and media focused experience on the largest screens in your home. Also note: the app will function completely fine as a standalone app. Using it as a launcher is optional.
Will there be ads? Dispatch will launch with a 7 or 14 day trial or something like that. After which, users will have the option to pay for either a monthly or a lifetime subscription. Users who have an active subscription will never ever ever see an ad in this app. I don't even have any concrete plans for a completely free version, however, if a free version does land in the future, I imagine it will be ad-supported (though I'm open to suggestions. In fact, I have some novel ideas I might try out first before going down that route)
How much will it cost? I haven't decided yet. Feel free to dm me or leave a comment indicating what price you think would be appropriate.
What platforms will it support? To start, Dispatch will be available on Android TV devices only. In the future, I plan to release versions for Fire TV, tvOS, Samsung Tizen, Windows, Linux, and macOS. The project was architected from the start to be on as many platforms as possible. That being said, I will be focusing on the Android TV experience for now.
What services will it support? Plex first, with Jellyfin, Emby and other cool stuff planned for the future.
Can it play media directly? Not for now. The first versions of Dispatch will simply launch the appropriate app at the appropriate location within said app. Adding my own media player is a top priority, however, it will take some time to get it right.
When can I try it? I'm hoping a first beta release can be ready in the next 3–5 weeks. If you want to help test the app out and provide feedback, sign up here!
Stay tuned! I'm very excited about this project, and I hope some of you will be too!

2023.05.28 14:30 KaiBunshidzho Can Anyone Please Help Me?

My 2TB External Hard Disk Drive only appears in Disk Management as Disk 1 and does not showing in My Computer and "list drive" in diskpart, and I can't do anything about it. Does anyone here knows what should I do?
This happens why I tried to format the drive, and the formatting process stops and its shows an error. (I forget what the message said.) So, I unplug it and put it back in and... here I am.
I don't care if the only solutions is to format the drive, because that is exactly what I'm trying to do in the first place.
I really need to use the drive.

2023.05.28 14:28 Taylor-Swifty A4A Anyone Else Like OCs?

[possible fandoms: Transformers, Totally Spies, Disney, TMNT, Street Sharks, Pixar, Star Wars, G. I. Joe, Nintendo, Marvel, DC, possibly more!]
I am 18+ and all participants and characters must be 18+.
Hey there! Most people call me Desi. I am a role player, obviously! I usually spend my time indoors every day with a mild excursion here and there to the store, movies, or beach. I adore writing, but that's obvious.
I am very versatile on genre, I have major preference for romance, drama, slice of life, mysteries, action and adventure, Hallmark-esque plots, and anything else we might conjure up! I do have tons of canons and OCs! I’m sure you can find one you like. I can write from a paragraph to novella.
I am looking for any gender of partner and character, I have so many unique characters and ideas for each one! I can also slide my OCs into any fandom.
Ideas:
your character replaces Sam/Charlie in the Transformers franchise while fixing various mistakes made by Michael Bay. I have the characters set up on my server, with alternate designs for Jazz, Sideswipe, and Hot Rod.
I also have a ton of Disney characters, I’ve been dying to play out a ripple in the space time continuum where one or a group of them get sent to the real world.
I also am hunting for a Totally Spies role play.
My character is a Spanish heiress, who lives a life of luxury, only her father is murdered, and the people who did it, are now after her. She runs away in search of a bodyguard to help her get back what was stolen from her.
The next idea I have is for a relationship that is on the rocks, and the two are left trying to navigate their lives past the honeymoon phase and learn how to adapt to living together.
This is specific to my character but she was a championship surfer, and she got injured at the top of her game. I really want to play out her becoming a mentor, teaching someone how to become the next champion.
One of my characters goes undercover to try and expose a illegal ring, this would play out like a suspense or thriller, could play male or female.
An emotionally damaged stripper who is abused by staff spends her days trying to get by, until the day comes where she meets someone who could help her pursue her true dreams of running her own operation.
A Russian woman who was stolen from her family as a little girl and tormented into becoming a living weapon is hired to bring your character to them. On the way, she finds out that the people who hired her are working for the militia that made her the way she is, and so, she decides to take a stand, and wipe them out.
This is only a third of my ideas, not even that, a fraction! Come check out my characters, let’s discuss something!
I have men, women, young and mature, thieves, business owners, single mothers, wayward young adults, college students and staff, bounty hunters, detectives, police officers, victims, patients, crooked therapists, strippers, so many unique stories to tell! I guarantee one of them will strike your fancy!
I am looking for a romantic role play as one of my many OC characters, drama or major events will happen depending on the character you select, and I have 300+ so far.
I also have many canon characters I would love to play as, such as Legolas, Transformers, Marvel and DC , Avatar and Disney.
I have many ideas depending on who you choose!
I am a very affectionate person, I love to make people happy, so I am always open to adjusting characters or role plays.
I don't like role plays with action asterisks, Sorry! I also don't like to role play without proper punctuation and grammar. I usually write at least one paragraph. 25 being my record.
I am a firm believer in conversation so I most likely will text you OOC for any reason, I also prefer to keep things adult, meaning I don't take part in petty or childish arguments.
I don't ghost either, so Ill probably rip the bandage off and tell you why I don't want to role play anymore.
I also love having friends! I used to get bullied quite a lot for many, many reasons, so I haven't had many friends in my 20 years of living. Lets chat, get to know one another!, I've been role playing for a long time, about 6-8 years give or take? I typically enjoy modern role plays with real life basing.
I enjoy stories of the romantic genre as well as action and adventure. My characters are original with face claims, some are canon characters from Marvel and DC. Characters like Barney, Captain America, Superman, just really selfless characters have always been my inspiration.
I always try to write my characters with loving aspects if I can. Life is broken and many people suffer, life isnt perfect so I usually write some darkness for a character if I feel it.
I don't use random face claims, I use actors or media icons I feel fit the character, I mentally put myself in the position of director, my role play is a movie, and I am casting the character, that is how I usually go about it, and if you don’t like it I am not the partner for you.
I definitely want a partner who can be a friend, who can be detailed yet tame, someone who can give me something to reply to, I am not very picky. I don't like people who are judgmental though, I prefer good vibes only.
Replies from me are vary. Sometimes I cant write as much as Id like because I get a writers block.
Sometimes I can reply 5 times a day, but sometimes I cant reply for a day maybe even two or three. But usually I update OOC. I look for people who aren't looking for perfection, I don't like role players who are too arrogant about their skill. I wouldn't say I'm the best role player out there, so if we don't mesh I completely understand.
I keep my characters location/job vague so that I can work them into a plot better. They are pieces to the puzzle, and I keep them so they can fit better into any story we choose!
I will only be role playing on discord partly just to be able to show you my original character portfolio server, which has channels with their backgrounds, age, and their galleries.
Simply DM me for my tag and we can get things started.
Sexuality wise all my characters are adjustable.
Reply wise, this will be fairly advanced. I strive to keep things above a paragraph but I can go lower depending on the plot. I write a maximum of 10 paragraphs but my usual is 3-4.
my character portfolio will be the main key to our discussion, so you will be viewing it upon your interest. I have 100+ characters. I can also role play over email or reddit chat, that way I can just copy the bios and send the photos.
That being said our characters will have romance, and adult content will be ahead If desired. All my characters are adults.I am looking for action, adventure, romance of course is my favorite, mystery, drama, anything is up for debate!
I am looking for both male or female characters to partner my own with, as well as trans or non binary as well, all are welcome.
I hope we can have a fun role play together!

2023.05.28 14:27 Robinsonc1988 Does my Netflix idea count as MC?

Netflix will begin to charge users for password sharing. The fee is 7.99. Based on everything I know, they will be able to tell who's violating their new policy via geo location.
So I have an idea. Rather than sharing passwords with people that live far away, share it with your neighbor. If you live in an apartment complex or close single-family houses, sharing your password with your neighbor beats Netflix's plan. This can't work for everyone ie, people with large land space, but for the vast majority, this would work.
The best part is that this would DECREASE Netflix's subscription numbers and they wouldn't even know why!

2023.05.28 14:27 AstronautPuzzled6733 What is the Best Live TV Streaming Service?

People are increasingly ditching cable for live TV streaming services that provide similar experiences without breaking their budgets. Some services even offer live shows at reduced rates!
DirectV Stream (formerly AT&T TV) is an ideal option for sports fans, though its subscription costs can be expensive. Like its satellite television counterpart, DIRECTV STREAM looks and operates similarly, while offering more Regional Sports Networks than other services.
Sling TV
Sling TV is a live streaming service offering multiple channels and add-ons, such as sports and news networks. Users can customize their subscriptions and save money through these add-ons; making Sling TV one of the more cost-effective cord-cutting options. In addition to popular channels, it also provides local content through an HD antenna in most markets and its user interface is intuitive for easy navigation.
Sling offers three plans - Orange (ESPN and Fox Sports), Blue (MSNBC and TLC), and Sports Extra bundle for NFL/NHL fans; Cloud DVR is included for recording 50 hours of shows, while an upgrade to DVR Plus adds another 5GB storage.
Sling TV is an ideal solution for anyone who's looking to cut the cord without losing their favorite shows, thanks to its affordable prices and compatibility with multiple devices. Though its streaming quality might not match other services, Sling still offers access to many channels at a low price point and makes an attractive alternative option when trying to reduce cable bills without giving up access to favorite programs.
YouTube TV
YouTube TV is the new go-to solution for those seeking to cut the cord and cancel their cable subscriptions. Since 2017, this streaming service has offered 85+ channels that cover major networks, niche channels and local broadcasters; plus most sports channels found in cable packages.
YouTube TV stands apart from similar services by not requiring contracts and offering an unrestricted cloud DVR that lets you record up to nine months worth of shows and movies - an advantage over many competitors that limit how much space can be utilized on their DVRs.
Service also beats the competition with an extensive array of news channels such as CNBC, CNN, HLN and MSNBC; plus family-oriented channels like Disney Channel, Cartoon Network and Nick Jr.
YouTube TV provides an impressive lineup of local channels in each region, providing at least four for most people. While not offering all the RSNs available with DIRECTV STREAM or fuboTV (FOX regional sports channels and sometimes YES/NESN in some locations). YouTube TV has recently also added ESPN Multiview functionality which lets viewers watch up to four live games at one time on one screen.
Fubo TV
FuboTV is an ideal solution for those seeking to cut cable. Offering an expansive library of channels and working smoothly across most devices, FuboTV does an exceptional job covering popular networks - although you might miss a few individually desired channels from time to time.
FuboTV provides several plans, with its base Pro plan starting at $75 a month and including access to over 145 channels such as local ABC, CBS and Fox stations in supported markets as well as popular cable networks like FX, HGTV Food Network Comedy Central. Plus it includes up to 1,000 hours of cloud DVR storage space as well as streaming on up to 10 screens at home or two outside your network - this plan offers true convenience!
This service's major advantage lies in its sports offerings. Fox Sports and ESPN support this option as well as multiple regional sports networks; however, basketball or baseball fans might find better options elsewhere.
FuboTV does have some drawbacks, however. First and foremost is its limited 4K support; though not a deal-breaker, this could become an issue if using this service with high-definition TVs. Furthermore, FuboTV doesn't support 5.1 surround sound streaming or recording which could prove an issue considering its focus on sports programming.
Philo
Philo may be new to live streaming, but its backing includes some of the biggest names in entertainment. Offering an easy, low-cost package with 61 channels for $20 a month; local channels and sports can be added with add-ons at additional costs; Philo also boasts an on-demand library filled with the most recent shows from each network included in its bundle.
Philo offers a cloud DVR with unlimited storage, providing users with the option to record multiple shows simultaneously and delete recordings before 30 days have passed. However, unlike its rivals in live-streaming services such as Hulu or Netflix, its DVR doesn't allow subscribers to delete recordings before this deadline has passed - though an option will eventually allow subscribers to save their favorite programs up to an entire year before deletion takes place.
Philo offers a free trial if you're curious to experience its service, supporting various devices and platforms such as Roku, Apple TV and desktop browsers on Mac or Windows as well as having a mobile app so that viewers can watch anywhere at any time. Although its streaming quality isn't quite as impressive as competitors' offerings, Philo makes for an affordable yet simple option - perfect for cord-cutters looking to cut their cable subscription bill!

2023.05.28 14:05 Frequent_Pool_533 Using house equity for second investment property (IP)

Hi I'm new here, I apologies if this is a common question.
I can't seem to find the answer to this question searching on google. Can I use equity from a mortgage free property to fund deposit for another IP or does that first property need to still have a mortgage on it?
I have one IP (375m2 house) interstate (SA) currently worth between $400k to $450k (just an estimate based on properties sold in the area, I will get it properly valued when I decide to get another IP). I have around $200k left to pay off. I bought it a few years ago for around $280k and the rent is currently $380/week so I get extra income from it after my fortnightly repayments come out. I have the ability to pay it off outright, once again can I use equity if it's fully paid off? If not, should I lower my mortgage before using the equity to fund a 2nd investment? I will do my research on location later, open to other states if it fits my budget.
Also what are you opinions on investing on houses/apartments/commercial building? Which is better?
I understand that typically houses are more expensive and give less rent compared to what they're worth, but the increase in value can be better than other properties depending on the location, economy, infrastruction in the area. I've read countless articles about apartment highrises and service apartments being risky with large management fees and being harder to sell due to value not going up much, but what about regular apartments (I understand I will have to calculate strata, rates and other fees and see if I will come out positive with the rent/repayments). I don't know anything about commercial buildings. I will look into these things too in my spare time, just wanted some opinions from here too.

2023.05.28 13:59 DrownedRat_FPV Mini 3 Mobile Home Point/Return to controller feature?

Is there a feature in the DJI or 3rd party app that allows for using the phones location as a rth point? I'm going out on a sailing trip and want to do some filming while I'm there and if like for the drone to be able to return to the controller or at least point towards home if I lose sight of the drone or cant find the boat in the phone screen.
Thanks in advance!

2023.05.28 13:40 ff00cc Love was absolutely correct

with peace and love i know this isnt a serious situation and was just like a jokey friendly debate but i really have to applaud Love because his arguments were basically perfect, he just struggled with communicating them (which who can blame him! these discussions are never super easy to have even when you have tonnes of debates including academic subjects, let alone when you have one for basically the first time with someone extremely versed in the science)
Loves general point was that funding from organisations can create bias not by mishandling the data, but by selecting which data gets more attention and representation in journals. the data itself may be objectively perfect, nothing at all is wrong with it, and everything is done to make sure that it is completely and totally bulletproof to a reasonable degree. the issue isn't the data, or the researchers, or even the concept of funding researchers with a certain bias to create studies.
the issue is big businesses aren't going to shop around for researchers that are conducting studies going against what they're forwarding - they're going to look for the ones that make them look good. for every research team finding that there is evidence that drinking soft drinks over plain standard water can help subjects lose more weight, there's a research team finding the opposite! the issue is money talks loudest, so both piece of sound research have different reaches.
the studies the doc showed seemed perfectly fine and solid in reasoning, but he shouldnt argue that any paid study should be discounted when thats not what Love was saying. all he was saying is that we need to consider the possibility that businesses fund studies they like and dont fund ones that dont benefit them.
the sad reality is academia is extremely hard to make it in. i wanted to go into a career of studying how religion and different neurodivergencies like autism and adhd interact with each other, focusing on how for example the very strict and regular routine of 5 daily prayers within Islam (not mandated, but highly recommended) would be extremely comforting to autistic individuals who need routine. i can't go into this because i can't afford it, and my chances of any funding body picking up extremely complicated and potentially risky qualitative studies like that is very, very low. likewise there are most likely tonnes of scientists, doctors and researchers finding information that directly contradicts what the soft drink studies are saying who just cant get any eyes on their work because their proposals aren't being picked up by funding bodies because no one has any interest in non-stories like "water good for weight loss".
but primarily Love approached the studies in the exact way you're meant to. i dont know if the same is taught in other fields, but my primary area of study is religion and anthropology - where i specifically focused on religious art, offensive art, and blasphemy. the first thing you should do when you come across a source is research the source - understand who wrote it, why they wrote it, where they were intenting for it to go, what they wanted it to do, and when they wrote it in terms of literal time but also geographical location, social context, ect ect. that being Love's first thought shows that he clearly understands exactly how research papers are produced. sure there's the actual content and creation of the research itself, but it's just as important to understand the paper . who wrote it, how were they able to write it, what caused this piece of research to even exist - all of these are as important as the research itself, if not more important (in my opinion anyway)
Love did a fantastic job and i hope he delves into this further. it was so refreshing to see someone bring this aspect of research papers up and is something everyone should do for every piece of media ever - but especially news sources in the current climate and absolutely for news sources you agree with. we love Love

2023.05.28 13:37 temmiesayshoi Got weird behaviour in your modpack and don't know what mod is causing it? Grep it!

Got weird behaviour in your modpack and don't know what mod is causing it? Grep it!
I've been building out a personal modpack recently and, when you have over 300 mods, you're gonna get some werid behaviour, even after you've managed to fix all of the crashing. However, one thing that can help massively is the fact that most mods have labled config options. It's a pain to have to go through hundreds though to find what you're looking for, luckily, grep exists and can search file contents in miliseconds!
If you're on windows, WSL v2 with ubuntu will have grep installed by default, (or you can just look online, I'm sure someone has made a version of grep for windows) but if you're on linux or mac it should already be installed. (windows also can index file contents and search through them by default IIRC, but I tried that before and it never worked for me) Open a terminal, navigate to your config directory, and type
grep -rnw ./ -e "KEYWORD"
remember kids, don't be Linus, never run a command you don't understand!
-r means recursive (it'll do every file in every folder of the directory)
-n means it'll list the line number
-w will match words, this probably can be removed but it can help with avoiding false detections
"./" means "the current directory"
-e just specifies the pattern your using (in other words, what to match for)
and the keyword just has to be something related to what you're searching for.

Billy Mays here! Have you ever had a pack with an issue you've been wanting to solve for a while now but you kept putting it off because it was too much work? Maybe for some reason players can jump off the air itself! While this is fine for some people, it can be annoying and get in the way for others! But, if you don't already know what mod adds that functionality, you can have a serious problem on your hands! Normally you'd have to blindly try to find the config file and see if you can find out what mod is causing it, or potentially even do a binary search to try to locate the issue like that, but with Grep I can check every config file in miliseconds!
https://preview.redd.it/c24mp3w8nl2b1.png?width=1606&format=png&auto=webp&s=ed8af56008eaab0a20770dd280ad48b709ff5bdb
Would you look at that, the mod WallJump has a comment in it's config file on line 26 talking about being able to jump in mid-air! Not only do I know what mod is causing it, but I know what line it is at too! And if you order right now, you'll get an extra grep COMPLETELY FREE! (*grep is already free)

Dropping the infomercial joke, seriously this has saved me so much time. It's not a cure all, especially if the mods don't have well labled config files, (or config files at all) but it has already helped me diagnose several issues in seconds which would have taken me hours otherwise. Especially in large packs, you often don't remember what all mods you have, and sometimes mods add additional features which might be reasonable, but are juuuuust disconnected from the mod title enough to not click when you're browsing through your mod list.

2023.05.28 13:29 azurstarshine Event Tips for Early and Mid Game: Confluence of Nothingness

Additional details

If you're looking for additional details about the event, check these sources first:

Equipment

Normal Mode

For players still trying to establish their fleets, this is useful gear you can find in the Normal mode maps. Avoid farming for placeholder gear; only use it if you get it by coincidence and badly need something in the slot.
Name Location Information
Naval Camouflage T1 Good transitional evasion auxiliary for cruisers. Identical to the Hydraulic Steering Gear; only equip one.
533mm Triple Homing Torpedo Mount T2 Decent placeholder homing torpedoes. Has as much damage per torpedo as the gold Quadruple version, but has one less torpedo and slightly better reload.
Twin 203mm (3rd Year Type) T2 Transitional CA HE gun, most effective against Light and Medium armor enemies
T2 (purple) Twin 105mm AA (SK C/33) T2 Not terrible as a placeholder AA gun. Compared to the Quadruple 40mm Pom-Pom (4-2 AA gun), it has a little bit better damage and much better range, but its reload is significantly higher. Prefer on your higher AA ships to capitalize on the higher damage.
Hydraulic Steering Gear T2 Good transitional evasion auxiliary for cruisers. Identical to the Naval Camoflauge; only equip one.
Single 102mm AA (QF Mark V) T3 Not terrible as a placeholder AA gun. Compared to the Quadruple 40mm Pom-Pom (4-2 AA gun), it has less damage and comparable reload, but much higher range. Prefer on low AA ships to minimize low damage impact.
Triple 152mm (6"/47 Mk 16) T3 Decent placeholder as a secondary gun on battleships for interception.
Fire Extinguisher SP1 Reduces burn damage. Especially useful on BBs and DDs in maps with enemies (especially enemy BBs) shooting a lot of HE ammo. Can also be used as a placeholder HP auxiliary on vanguard ships.
Twin 150mm (TbtsK C/36) T4 Great transitional CL gun. Primarily used in a CL main gun slot. It can work as a battleship secondary, but its narrow spread won't hit multiple suicide boats side by side.
Fuel Filter T5 Placeholder auxiliary for small amount of HP and EVA. Better than an empty slot.
Anti-Torpedo Bulge T5 Primarily a placeholder auxiliary for HP. Has the same HP as the Fuel Filter but trades EVA for torpedo damage reduction. Better than an empty slot, and has some niche uses against torpedo focused enemies and in exercises.
Triple 406mm (16"/45 Mk 6) T5 Better known as the "Triple 406mm Mk 6," aside from a rainbow gun that's event locked, this is the best HE battleship gun for raw shelling damage in the game. Which makes this an end game piece. Use this gun when you're targeting a light armor enemy or for mixed/general content and your battleship doesn't have an on-fire skill that needs to be triggered often. Check the ECTL's gear recommendation if you're not sure whether your battleship has a skill like that.
T2 (purple) 533mm Quadruple Homing Torpedo Mount T5 Can be used as a placeholder torpedo. Trades damage and slower reload for an additional torpedo compared to the Triple version.
Repair Toolkit T6 End game HP auxiliary for vanguard ships. Only outclassed by single copy gear. You can never have too many of these.
Fire Control Radar T6 Good transitional auxiliary for battleships/battlescruisers. Boosts FP and accuracy.
Triple 283mm (SK C/28) Technically a large cruiser gun, but some heavy cruisers can equip it. It fires shells with an arcing pattern, which bypasses shields.

Hard Mode

For players in the mid-game getting ready to head into end-game territory, this is good gear you can find in Hard mode.
Name Location Information
Twin 150mm (TbtsK C/36) HT4 Great transitional CL gun. Primarily used as in a CL main gun slot. It can work as a battleship secondary, but its narrow spread won't hit multiple suicide boats side by side.
Triple 406mm (16"/45 Mk 6) HT5 Better known as the "Triple 406mm Mk 6," aside from a rainbow gun that's event locked, this is the best HE battleship gun for raw shelling damage in the game. Which makes this an end game piece. Use this gun when you're targeting a light armor enemy or for mixed/general content and your battleship doesn't have an on-fire skill that needs to be triggered often. Check the ECTL's gear recommendation if you're not sure whether your battleship has a skill like that.
533mm Quadruple Homing Torpedo Mount HT5 One of the best torpedoes in the game, assuming you're not playing on manual. They have the same damage as the Quintuple rainbow version, but they trade one less torpedo for better reload, which can actually be an advantage if the screen isn't covered in enemies.
Twin 406mm (SK C/34 Prototype) HT6 The best low reload HE battleship gun in the game, making it end game like the Triple 406mm Mk 6. Like the Mk 6, use this gun for targeting light armor enemies or mixed/general content, but use it when your ship has an on-fire skill you want to trigger as often as possible. Compared to the Mk 6, it trades raw shelling damage for barrage damage or other skill effects, which is a good trade off if the ship has a strong barrage with high activation rate. Check the ECTL's gear recommendation if you're not sure whether your battleship has a skill like that.
Repair Toolkit HT6 End game HP auxiliary for vanguard ships. Only outclassed by single copy gear. You can never have too many of these.
Fire Control Radar HT6 Good transitional auxiliary for battleships/battlescruisers. Boosts FP and accuracy.
The transitional and end game pieces from Normal mode are still useful for you while you build up end game gear, but skip the placeholder gear unless you're absolutely desperate for some reason. Do consider that farming Hard mode will net you a good number of tech boxes, so you may not need to farm design drops for transitional gear.

Shop

Fairey Firefly (1771 NAS): Not an essential grab. This dive bomber has inferior damage to the purple Helldiver. Reload is very slightly longer than the various Susei models but damage is a little better, so it can be used for precision synchronization or for slightly better damage when the timing still works.

Notable Drop Ships

U-556 META (T6 and HT6, boss only): How could you turn down a free gold sub? She doesn't even require gold Bulins. Her META Crystals in the event shop for limit breaking are cheap (2000 event points) compared to normal ship copies (typically 8000), and it looks like they'll even be permanently available in the new META Shop. Only downside: like all METAs, you can't retire her.
U-556 (T5 and HT5): Another free sub. She's a wolf pack sub, meaning she buffs herself when there are other Iron Blood subs in her fleet. Unfortunately, U-556 META doesn't count as an Iron Blood ship to activate it.
Edinburgh (T2 and HT2): More for collection than anything. The only place she's reliably available is from Requisition, which is random enough that you'd rather not go dipping into it if you don't have to.
Nelson (T3 and HT3): Nelson used to be a very bad ship once you got past the very early game. Now she has a shiny new retrofit that makes her decent when it's finished. She's available from several chapter maps as well, but if you're in dire need of a BB, she is here, too.
Gneisenau (T4 and HT4): Very bad ship. But she is one of the few permanently available main fleet Iron Blood ships, which is particularly useful for developing Friedrich der Große and Ägir. Don't use when actually trying to challenge new content, but can be used to limit break for tech points and for grinding EXP for Combat Data Collection. She's only available via the War Archives normally.
Deutschland (T4 and HT4): Decent damage oriented heavy cruiser. Like Gneisenau, she's more noteworthy for being a source of Iron Blood tech points. She's normally only available in the War Archives or the Heavy pool.

Other Notes and Advice

Building for Bismark Zwei

Jade

The datamine labels Jade as collection only, but this evaluation is geared toward veteran players with a good collection of ships in their dock. (It's not wrong; it's just geared toward a different audience.) Wait for ECTL ranking to determine if she is worth using for you personally.

2023.05.28 13:09 Joh_Seb_Banach The size of the Eye

Hi guys,
So while I was nearing the endgame my PC crashed and I had some time to spare while I waited for it to reboot, so I calculated the size of the Eye of the Universe and found it to be about 316m in radius.
Disclaimer: I definitely need to make several simplifying assumptions for this, so there is a margin of error and it might be off, but judging from the size of the endgame area it seems at least kinda accurate.
Suppose you are positioned in the centre of a sphere of radius R and you shoot an Orbital Launch Probe Cannon in a random direction. Suppose that there is an area on the surface of the sphere that you want to locate with your probe. Suppose further that your probe is a point, and that shooting it is equivalent to choosing a point on the surface of your sphere at random. What is the probability that your point will lie in the Special Area? By probability theory it is the size of the special area divided by the surface area of the sphere.
In the game, the Eye is in orbit around the Sun, yet the Cannon is just outside of Giant's Deep (or as I like to call it, Big Squirtle). But since the Eye is pretty far away in orbit, the distance between the Sun and Big Squirtle should be negligible, so let's just say the probe is firing from the center of the Sun.
We know that Eye is kind of round, with spikes radiating outward from the center. For simplicity though, let's assume the Eye is a disk. Since it will be very small compared to the sphere's surface area, we can further neglect any curvature the Eye should have if it was positioned inside the spherical surface itself, so let's just assume that it is, and that its area is π r^2, where r is the radius of the Eye which we would like to determine.
Now if P is the probability of finding the Eye in one loop and R is, as above, the distance of the Eye from the sun, then
P = (π r^2) / (4 π R^2) = (r^2)/(4 R^2), so r = \sqrt{P * 4 R^2} = 2R*\sqrt{P} (where \sqrt is the square root).
Now we know that the orbit was found on the 9318054th iteration. From this we can infer that the probability of finding the Eye is about 1/9318054, or to round off, 1 in 10 million. It's possible that the probe got super lucky and the probability is way smaller, or that it was super unlucky and its larger. The only way to know for sure would be to keep playing until the Eye has been found say 1000 times and average the number of loops it took, so I think definitely somebody should do that.
For R, we can approximate it to about 500km, considering the distance of the other planets to each other and what constitutes a "large orbit". Indeed, comparing the sun's size from the eye vs from 500km distance it seems pretty much the same.
Together we have r = 2*500000/ (\sqrt{10000000}), which equals about 316m.
TLDR: Shooting a probe in random directions until it finds the Eye makes it possible to approximate the Eye's size knowing its distance and the probability of finding it. In this case around 316m. :)

2023.05.28 13:02 peanut3484 Needs to be addressed

Hello everyone!!! I hope everyone is enjoying Memorial day weekend! Anyway just some things I've see so far. I am a xbox series x user so unfortunately I wasn't able to play this weekend, but I've been watching all the gameplay on YouTube. Just wanted to bring attention to a few things. The location of the fuse box on the slaughterhouse map, the one place it spawns is way to close to that escape door. The hit box for victims when they are going through crevasses, the victim will only be halfway through, and Leatherface will stick the saw in, but the victim doesn't get a scratch. I'm watching a live stream as I write this, and in a earlier match, whoever was playing Sonny found a glitch, or hacked the game were he ran around Leatherface a few times, scoring five million points, and Leatherface actually caught, and killed him, but it still said that he escaped. So just some things that need looked at. Other then that though, the game looks phenomenal! And seems really fun to play! Can't wait till August.

2023.05.28 12:51 ChloeSeas iMac 2012 which is struggling in the heat. Why does the "maximum rpm" of my fan keep changing?

I've got heat issues.
iMac 2012 on Latest OS. If I launch a light game, it'll use 25% of my system resources before OSXs scheduler slows everything down due to temperature. To mitigate that, I have tried a number of utilities that allow me to set the fan to the maximum setting.
My fan comes up as maximums of 1768, 2000 or 3100 rpm - even when in periods of high stress it can lock to a measly 1768rpm. Obviously I want "3100" all the time, but I can't get it. It changes randomly and doesn't appear to be in sync with any kind of
Those changes are the same over all the utilities I've used. So, why does it keep changing?
Also, to help with heat I have:
It's helped a little, but I am very aware there is only so much this machine can do and that's why I want everything out of the fan.

2023.05.28 12:45 Accomplished_Mix2542 Can't find partitions

I have a server with two hard disk - in rescue mode because one of the disk failed and had to be replaced -.

I had to hire a data recovery service, few days later they told me that it was ready, but they couldn't open a terminal in order to mount the filesystem. So I opened a SSH terminal and I tried to mount the filesystem.

In rescue mode I can't use fdisk command, is not available. So I tried with lsblk with this result:

NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT
loop0 7:0 0 190.9M 1 loop
sda 8:0 0 232.9G 0 disk
sdb 8:16 0 232.9G 0 disk

Then I tried to list partitions with parted -l with this result:

Then I tried to list partitions with sgdisk -l /dev/sda with this result:

And then I tried to list with second disk; sgdisk -l /dev/sdb with this result:

How can I recover the partitions?. I think it's impossible, but I keep trying because they told me that the data could still be recovered.
As I can't use a USB disk I thought of cloning sda data in sdb empty disk with something like dd if=/dev/sdapvdd of=/dev/sdb bs=1M and then work with sda in order to be able to reboot the server in normal mode, but I don't know if is a good idea.
Any suggestion is highly appreciated, thanks in advance.
