2023.06.07 20:55 DeadVale GPU HDMI wont work with 2 ram sticks
I just recently did a complete upgrade of my pc. My friend got me a MSI MAG B650 motherboard, and so I needed new parts to make it work. I finally got the ram sticks in today, but now, anytime I try to use the sticks in the 2 and 4 slots, the pc doesn’t boot. It will only boot with the sticks in the 1 and 2 slot, but then when I plug the HDMI into my GPU, there is no signal to my monitor. I’m not really sure what to do at this point.

2023.06.07 20:52 incredible_rand Should I upgrade my 9900K if I get a 4090? And could a 9900K run a 2080Ti and a 4090
Current GPU: Gigabyte Gaming OC RTX 2080Ti 11gb VRAM; no oc
Current CPU: Intel core i9 9900k 3.9HGz, no oc
Current Motherboard: MSI Mag z390 Tomahawk, latest BIOS (7B18v1C)
Current RAM: 16gb [8gb x 2] DDR4-3200MHz ADATA XPG Spectrix D41 RGB
Current PSU: Corsair RM1000x, 1000w
So, I am considering getting a 4090. How important would it be to upgrade CPU? I am also considering keeping my 2080Ti and using them both. Is there a motherboard that would support that, and if there is should I even do that on a 9900K? I've tried looking into it, and I do think there are motherboards I could mount both GPUs on (gigabyte z390 aorus ultra) but idk if it would be worth to do with a 9900K and if I should just do a full upgrade to the newest gen chips. And if I did get the newest gen could they run both those GPUs? I have a pretty extensive water cooling system (2 420mm rads) just in case that affects recommendations as they relate to heat. And I have a 4k 120Hz display, part of the problem is that it runs on HDMI 2.1 which the 2080Ti does not have, not that it could probs hit 4K 120fps on a lot of titles

It feels great to finally play games with no lag !
Very happy with how it turned out and i'm planning on upgrading with some wire sleeves to make it more minimalistic and cohesive and some fan decals. (definitely going to be adding a bit of pink) I am also considering upgrading to the Lian li fans. I originally wanted those fans but they were sold out for a month! I would've preferred a white motherboard but there weren't many and honestly PERFORMANCE OVER AESTHETIC !!
**
Need some help because problem is... I am unsure if I have the intake and exhaust fans set up correctly. So I have opted to leave off the front panel of the case to make sure that I am getting enough airflow. there was no way to flip the fans when i was building the PC so i assumed maybe it would be in the app but NOPE...
I'd also love some thoughts on if I made the right choice going with the 3070. at the time it seemed like the best option and not overpriced and I spent a week combing through reviews making sure it was what I wanted.
Here IS my pcpart list and a video of me building the computer if you're interested in that - Spoiler alert I did not record any cable management or motherboard hookup because that alone took me a full day.

2023.06.07 17:54 tom_thepcnerd New pair of gaming headphones
Hi, I have a budget of about £250 but I don't want to spend that much unless I really have to.
I currently have a pair of Cloud Revolver S' and they are comfortable but heavy and I find hearing sounds in fps games rather difficult - I can hear footsteps but have great difficulty pinpointing them and they commonly get drowned out by more bass-y noises.
I have a standalone microphone so a mic is not neccesary.
I mainly want something with good imaging - better than my current headphones. I don't care about their listening ability for music.
I asked a friend for advice and I was aiming towards some Sennheiser 560s and he said to get the 599se instead which is what he has, for they are better. I am currently confused as to what to buy/not buy.
Thank you!
Extra note: For reference, I don't have a DAC/AMP but I could buy one if it was really necessary. I have an MSI B550 Tomahawk motherboard.

Hey, I am new to PC building and decided to challenge myself with my next PC and do everything myself (except for some advice from you guys of course)! During the last couple of weeks, I spent some time researching parts and looking through an unholy amount of benchmarks and review-videos and I think I found some good parts that should work well together. This PC is strictly for gaming and daily use, so no rendering and stuff. I do have a budget of 1.5k but am ready to spend more if needed. Future-proofing and upgradability is important for me. 2023.06.07 13:31 JustUseDuckTape Is my new graphics card faulty, or is something else to blame?
TLDR: Games crash unless I massively underclock my 6700xt.
I recently upgraded from a 1060 to a 6700xt (Aus DUAL-RX6700XT-12G), massive upgrade in performance, but the stability is just awful. Games just kept crashing. The first thing I wanted to play was Hogwarts Legacy, which did run on my 1060 but everything looked like a potato. At first it was fine at Ultra 1080p, with a solid 60fps, but after a few hours it started crashing. Now it runs for anywhere between 30 seconds and 10 minutes before crashing with a "driver timeout" error popup from AMD. The logs show a DXGI Device Removed error.
I did some stress testing in furmark with no issues, so set about trying a dozen fixes for Hogwarts Legacy. After deciding to give up and play something else, it turns out Jedi Fallen Order and Death Stranding won't even start, and Doom Eternal freezes constantly with that driver timeout error in the background (but strangely doesn't crash).
I've found a "solution" though. If I underclock my card to ~1800 mhz (base clock should be 2321) everything runs flawlessly. That's actually kinda fine for now, because I've only got a 1080p 60hz monitor, but I feel like I'm leaving a lot of performance on the table when I upgrade down the line. It's still basically still new, so getting a refund from Amazon shouldn't be difficult, but that's a pain in the arse (especially as it's gone up in price since I bought it).
For reference, the rest of my system is 5600x, 32gb ram, MSI MAG B550 corsair rm750. What's throwing me is that, as I said, Furmark runs just fine, even overclocked and with +15% power (furmark says 215W). It's running right now on another monitor as I type this out. Pinned at close to 100% gpu and cpu, so I don't think it's a power or cooling issue. I'm running the latest Drivers, and have tried a reinstall after DDU. I've also removed and reseated the card & power cables.

I was wondering what would you recommend me of changing apart of the GPU, which is obviously outdated.
I was thinking about the following 3 parts:
- GPU - I did finish a ML/DL course two years ago and since then I am thinking of playing a bit more with building my own DL/ML models as a hobby projects. I am also thinking of playing a bit more with stable diffusion, etc. and I guess that means that I need to get Nvidia, but honestly, I really despise this company and I am very reluctant of buying their products. On the other hand I am not sure how much time I would have on my hobby projects. I occasionally game, but mostly play older games. I don't care so much about RT either. The problem is that I don't want to spend 1000+ on the GPU alone as it doesn't make any sense. I know for ML/DL the obvious choice is 4090 because of its high VRAM and ludicrous power efficiency but I think that would be an overkill for casual use. 4080 is really bad in terms of price/performance, especially 4090 being so close in price, so not an option. 4070 and 4070Ti would have been perfect candidates if they were with 16Gb VRAM, but Nvidia... So I am really torn here. For the record I live in Europe and here the secondhand GPU market sucks, like delusional people selling used GPUs for 75-80% of the MSRP and it doesn't make sense too. Plus another factor to consider is that here the energy prices are really high, I pay 35 Euro cents (.38$ per KWh), so I want the whole system not to break the bank, considering I would work on this PC 8-10 hours per day.
- Monitor - I am thinking about upgrading to the 42 LG C2 but I am worried about I am using my monitor primarily for work and just secondary as entertainment, but I am moving my desk to the bedroom and I was thinking that I can use it as a TV at nights if I want to watch something. I am also using Linux with tiling WM meaning that I can hide the toolbars and when jumping between different workspaces the burn-in risk won't be so high but I haven't decided on this one.
- RAM memory, I am just not sure how much of a difference that would make.
- SSD, upgrade to 2Tb Samsung 980 Pro or even 990 Pro, since the prices are really low at the moment
- PSU - I guess here the deciding factor would be the GPU

2023.06.07 09:49 jamesp111 RTX 4090 mid tower cases that are quiet with good airflow?
New build with the following parts:

CPU cooler: Deepcool ak620
GPU: MSI GAMING X TRIO RTX 4090
I would prefer to not get the 90 degree cable mod for the gpu to save money.
