2022.08.29 01:23 Mr_Jackcity how school districts are like the SCP Foundation

Aldine ISD (some random district in tx) - Scp Foundation // Superintendent - The Administrator // School board - O5 Council // Principal - Site Director // Assistant Principal - head of a department of your choice // Administrative staff - ISD or Administrative department // Security guards - Security department // On site police officers - Mobile task force // Subject heads (math, history, English) - head of research // Teachers - research department // Children of school staff members - Class E // Students - Class D //

2022.08.19 22:20 SeniorIssue444 "teaching shortage" when it's really a lack of respect and fair pay

https://www.khou.com/article/news/local/outreach/back-to-school/aldine-isd-back-to-school/285-96fc621c-2475-4558-97f6-a78abd0f6517
They admit that Texas pays less than other states and when you factor in the cost of inflation, teachers are making $2100 less than what teachers made 10 years ago. On top of the workload outside the classroom, dealing with administration and parents, there is a lot of disrespect from students too. Plus buying your own supplies and the cost of going to college and getting that degree needed for the job.... again there is no "teacher shortage"
Texas has several districts and programs that allow you to get your teaching certificates for free /have it fully reimbursed and there already are enough teachers, but they have opted to take other jobs.
Districts are doing anything buy paying - in Austin, they're even thinking of building housing for teachers because teaching wages are so low teachers have a hard time even getting an apartment on their own income.

I saw this article this morning and I’m curious to know about how this went down internally. What are teachers at those schools thinking?

2021.08.06 09:58 crafty_bean Teachers, what district do you work in and what do you like/not like about it?

I decided to leave HISD after 20-21, and I'm now looking to sub for the 21-22 school year (hopefully I'm still on time to get my application in). I am hoping to then transition to a teaching position after this school year in the district I'll be in (if I like what I see, ha).
I am between Aldine and HoustonISD districts, which is why I'm thinking of Aldine, but is it comparable to HISD?

2021.03.24 05:47 preppythug Charter schools vs. Traditional public school

*Particularly in the Houston region, does anyone have any experiences with YESPrep? KIPP? Aldine ISD? HISD?
  1. What have your empirical experiences been like teaching in charter schools vs. traditional public school?
  2. Do charter schools provide readymade lesson plans? Do traditional public schools provide readymade lesson plans?
  3. Are class sizes smaller in charter schools?
  4. Are opportunities for upwards mobility plentiful?
  5. Do you work longer days in charter schools?
