2023.06.03 13:02 Worried_Brain_6010 Old Boss Quit, New Boss Sucks
So, I work in the financial aid office at a college. My former director had worked there for nearly 20 years before retiring. When she left. She recommended our assistant director, who had 16 years at this college, for her position. Well, they had recently promoted a new person into a decision making role about the financial aid office, and he is obsessed with outside hiring. So despite this person knowing how to do the job, having a PHD when the job required a bachelors, and having 16 years of experience when the job required 5, they gave it to someone outside the college just because he was outside the college.
So this guy comes in, and is completely incompetent. Has clearly lied about his credentials and abilities as he knows almost nothing about the universal processes or guidelines. He is lazy, often being seen in his office on his phone playing games. When concerns were raised by the two assistant directors they were berated, and implied that they were jealous he got the job instead of one of them. All of us advisors see the strain of this slowly trickling down to us. Eventually both our assistant directors and one of our office managers quite within four weeks of each other.
Now it is just him. No assistant directors and only one office manager. After about a month, they post the office manager job and let us know they will have two openings. They interview everyone who is interested and we have two really great internal candidates…and zero external applicants. They chose to tell the second internal candidate no, because they want an outside hire for the second role. They then told her that the reason she got passed over was for “questioning the decisions of her superiors” by asking about the position after the interviews, when no one heard anything for another month. The second reason they gave was that she should work on finishing her bachelors degree, which is not a requirement for the job.
All through this process I, the only other male presenting person besides the new director, have been getting treated like shit by him. He talks to me like I am a moron, questions every single thing I do, and threatened my job over putting a ticket in with IT.
We went to our union and it did nothing. They had a meeting with him and his boss, and nothing came of it. I had already accepted this and started job hunting.
Now they are introducing a new thing in the office that they call hoteling. Basically they created new positions and there aren’t enough desks in the office for everyone. So now we are going to rotate and share desks with other people at random. Where will we sit during this? At the front desk, which is essentially a bank teller window were part time and student workers sit. We no longer have a personal space at work. We are now forced to sit in a tiny space to be constantly interrupted in it because they refuse to utilize other empty office space.
This is just the tip of the iceberg, I am just running out of space in the post.
I had my second interview at a more prestigious four year institution on Thursday and should find out if I got the job this coming week. Keep your fingers crossed for me peeps, cause I am drowning.

2023.06.03 12:52 Alternative-Cow-4420 Rude doctor on Reddit
I just wanted to thank all the doctors on this community who provide feedback. I know you have very busy Iives so thank you for taking the time to provide education.
There is one doctor on here however, who provides very rude and sarcastic responses. I just want to say that people come here because they have a question about their health. I’m sure most of us are worried and trying to understand what is happening with our bodies. It doesn’t help to have someone talking down on you. You are in a helping field where compassion is a must. You never know what someone may be going through. just remember to be kind. if you don’t want to comment on someone’s post or have anything valuable to say. Skip it. There is no need for sarcasm and rude comments. People are dealing with enough day to day. I am a medical SW and part time therapist. While in the hospital I’ve worked along side physicians. I know it’s a difficult job but please don’t allow it to take away your compassion and remember that people are dealing with a lot. Health is scary. This doctor blocked me for asking a question more than once (it is not always answered and when it was, there was a insensitive response). I really appreciate the doctors here but the gastro doc (libraryfun) who won’t see this because I’ve been blocked has a way of talking down on people and i think there should be rules in place for this. I am not trying to start conflict just shedding light in the patient experience.

2023.06.03 12:52 ThatDovaHea Forcing myself to do stuff
I’m 26m, 27 in august, and lately I’ve felt stuck in life. I’m teetering on the edge of negatives for my bank account and I know If I put in the time on top of my full time job, I could do side work and easily fix that issue, but anytime I decide I should doordash, I freeze up and stay home instead. The same goes to working out, I know what I need to do and the benefits of it but again, when I decide I should go, I freeze up and stay home instead. Which sucks because I really want to get into MMA.
What are some ways I can start motivating myself to get off the couch and stop being lazy?

2023.06.03 12:43 Entity904 World Building Post: The Enili Princedom
Enili is one of the largest southern princedoms, the strength of which is heavily reliant upon the support of the Kawriq Empire. It is ruled by a prince, currently Izevel, who is the head of the princedom senate, overseer of the court of judges, and possesses unquestionable executive power within the nation.
The soil there is of a bright orange to dark brown coloration. Alhough it does not hold many
natural resources, it is a treasure in itself, fertile and capable of sustaining great forests and farmlands. Woodwork, harvested crops, livestock meats and furs, woven fabric, pottery and glass, as well as experienced professionals make up most of the country's exports. Metals, spices, alcohols, scrolls of papyrus and many other materials need to be purchased from merchants from the north, east, and west. The people of Enili commonly use clay tablets for writing and notation, but since the nation fell under the influence of the Kawriq Empire papyrus scrolls began to significantly gain on popularity.
The princedom does not possess a large
army, and its city lacks in strategic defenses. However, it does maintain a fleet of over fifty state-owned ships to deal with pirates and perform escorts of important individuals and resources, while the city militia is numerous, well-trained, and well-equipped.
The City of Enili, located on the most eastern flank of the Kawriq civilization and easily accessible from land and sea by travelers and merchants from far away, has become a safe stop for those travelers. It allows them to rest in their journey, make repairs to their vessels and equipment, and resupply at a relatively cheap price. Many buildings at the center of the city were built out of white imported marble and sandstone, while on the outskirts wood and orange clay bricks are the most dominant materials.
The city has been expanding both in
population and size at an unprecedented pace for the last few years, reaching no less than one hundred thousand citizens, about sixty thousand non-citizens (mostly immigrants from Kawriq, and people from the dry and hot north) and thirty thousand peasants with limited rights. To gain a citizenship and the benefits it grants one has to serve at least twenty four years in the city militia, navy or military (and half as much to become a half-citizen) or be born to a pair of citizens, or one citizen and one half-citizen. Half-citizens are effectively citizens who were born to pairs of a citizen and a non-citizen, however child of a pair of two half-citizens will always be a non-citizen. They can improve their status and become a full citizen by paying a half-citizen tax for twelve years and completing a written test of citizenship.
The city posses a primitive, mostly covered
sewage system, making it suprisingly clean and pleasant-smelling for its size.
The faith of the feathered twins has recently become the main religion, and while the cults of most of the lesser gods have died out or been nearly completely abandoned, however their statues and symbols are still understood to attract good spirits. They are still actively prayed to, but more as a group. Those relics of the past can often be seen in public meeting areas and households, bringing luck to the citizens. Similarly, the fossils and bones of long-dead animals have always been understood to protect from tge evil spirits, the fuller and more accurately articulated the skeleton, the better. In accordance with the dominant Enili philosophy known as the "palace of the higher needs," no temples or ancient statues were purposefully demolished. Instead, they were repurposed to serve the feathered twins. The religious conversion was mostly swift and bloodless, thanks to countless public speeches by philosophers, government officials, and public representatives, as well as successful negotiations between interested parties.
There are many
skilled craftsmen living within Enili, purchasing raw resources from merchants and selling finished products with profit. Many private, priesthood-owned and state-owned schools exist there, the most well known of which is the Enili School of Craftsmanship and Philosophy, located in a repurposed ancient temple on the western bank of the river Izu. According to many the Enili School represents the highest standard of education in all southern princedoms. A large population of alchemists lives in the eastern part of the city, producing and selling a great number of elixirs of questionable effectiveness, though there are many things they produce that have been proven to function as intended, coloured glass being one of them. The woodwork sector is also strong within the city, producing great art, furniture, and sturdy ships of the Enili pattern. Many poets, artists, sculptors, architects, engineers, and philosophers also live within the city, and their works are the pride of Enili people.
The coinage there is somewhat unusual. The "unicorns" are the very recently introduced coins of the highest value. They are round, made of platinum and iron, and bear the image of the creature on one side and the stylized profile carving of Izevel on the other. They are worth one thousand of the golden coins each. The "envoys" are the second most valuable coin, made of gold, square, and with a hole at the center. They bear the image of two envoy birds on one side and the ruler of the Kawriq Empire on the other. There is also another, older version of this coin still in use called "phoenixes," which has the image of a phoenix on one side and the likeness of either Izevel, Izevel's father, or another old ruler on the other. Each golden coin is worth twelve silver coins. The triangular silver "altars," each with a hole in the middle, bear the images of a fish, a crowhorse, and wheat, respectively in each of the corners, and the panorama of Enili on the other side. Each silver coin is worth twelve of the round coloured glass coins, known as "tokens", which can bear a great variety of state-mandated symbols, and are mostly orange in coloration.
The Morning Mountains Colony is a territory aquired relatively recently by the Princedom of Enili by a threat of force and exchange of many coins. It's a small but growing city located near the source of river Izu, counting around ten thousand non-citizens in population. It is ruled by a council made up of its inhabitants and a governor from the City of Enili. The Colony is relatively prosperous and content with it's current political situation. Trade has significantly increased since it joined the princedom, living conditions have improved and a few schools and roads have been built. It's better fortified than the City of Enili, with a steep cliff protecting it from one side and a palisade from the other.
The Colony possesses a military force counting around one hundred armored envoy riders, three hundred crowhorse-riding archers, three hundred infantry and ten ships. The purpose of this very expansive force (maintained mostly from the taxes of the citizens of the City of Enili) is to protect the trade routes, eliminate bandits, maintain peace and protect the north of the Princedom of Enili.

2023.06.03 12:39 MainRegular4 Just ranting
Hey everyone,I'm obviously writing this because it's ANONYMOUS and i really wanna feel heard by someone. My dad worked all of his life outside Lebanon and then got retired the SAME YEAR the bank stole (and i emphasize on "stole" ) all of our savings. My mom raised us on her own and she wasn't a stay at home mom,she was doing her phd and working part-time too which i'm really proud of her (she wasn't working for the money, she just wanted a career as her income was little).I wouldn't say we were rich but i think we were close to that. Then POOOFF, who would've imagined? 3 years later of living off of these savings, they ended, because of how little we get compared to the real withdrawals. This year, we weren't able to afford the health insurance plan not even the 2nd or whatever lower class there is. We're living on a daily-basis not thinking about the fact that when the 10k$ worth of gold are all sold , what are we gonna do to eat? From the part-time job my mom still has and that she spends literally all of her income on transportations to her workplace? Funny fact is that my friends think i'm rich, maybe because of the branded clothe that i wear and that i can't afford anymore?? Or perhaps the fact that even tho i'm probably the poorest between them i sometimes offer to pay because that's what i'm used to doing? I'm in a prestigious university in Lebanon on a donor funded scholarship that i get on a semester basis. My worst fear is that the scholarship goes away because my parents can not afford at all any university tuition. I always overthink it and that would be my last straw of hope in this life. I get that "masare hiye wasa5 I denye" and i'm convinced in this saying and i have hope that if this scholarship goes away i could try and get another because of my good grades but i have some personal problems worse than money that i'm not going to get into and i feel that this degree that i'm pursuing is the only thing hanging me onto this life. I fear that if i get to a close road where i can't continue my education i would get weak and take my life and break my mother's heart. If you read all the way down, thank you for that.

2023.06.03 12:27 Mad_Creator Gorm's Epic (English Version)
| Episode 1 The End of the Exodus A great, huge ship, a real Ark of 130 cubits, was sailing on the flat sea of a blue and sunny afternoon. -…I still wonder why you gave such a name to our ship…- Krom-Nav said, as he steered the wheel. The two brothers always had something to say about each other: Krom-Nav was the eldest, always dutiful and precise in his duties, while Yughy, the youngest, was the more reckless one, always ready to experiment. The first had long brown hair that stopped at his shoulders, light and large eyes, a smooth beard that started under the hooked nose, surrounded the mouth, and ended by covering the chin with a point. The second had shorter hair, hazel, darker eyes, a veil of beard on the chin, both tall, athletic bodied, Krom leaner and Yughy Sturdier, dressed, like the rest of their people on that great ship, in animal furs decorated with the symbols of their people: Five symbols that indicated the elements, Water, Earth, Plants, Air, Fire, which all revered and respected. The two had very different characters: Yughy was impulsive, skilled at manual labor, a hothead who often acted on feeling rather than reason. Krom, on the other hand, was more methodical, more thoughtful, didn't talk much unless necessary, loved to read, and always kept a watchful eye on his people and crew. - Come on brother! It's been years since we set sail! You should have figured it out! He means “Earth”!- -And I repeat that "Terra", for a ship that sails on water, seems to me a name that is not at all suitable, Yughy…- -AH! BUT YOU DON'T REALLY UNDERSTAND ANYTHING! It's called "Earth" as a good omen! That is to FIND the EARTH, after this very long journey at sea! It's a metaphor, a synonym of Hope!- -Maybe…for me the name Gheos, it still seems strange to me…- -You'll see that you'll get used to it sooner or later…- -Okay! You get used to taking the helm!-
Krom said, walking away, while Yughy looked at him in amazement. -HEY BUT YOU DUMPING ME LIKE THIS?- -EXACTLY!- And laughing, he made his way to the large stern. Their relationship had always been like this, since they were children. Bound by a brotherly love that occasionally cracked, but never broke. Even in the darkest moment, in fact, they were together. 10 years earlier, on a very distant coast, on a misty island, stood the village of Missa, a village known for its constant mist. The Missians were a peaceful people, dedicated to agriculture, livestock and fishing, and worshiped the elements of Nature: The Earth, on which they could build their houses, The Plants, which gave them shelter and nourishment, The Air , which moved their mills and relieved them from the heat, Water, which gave them its fish and quenched their thirst, and Fire, which protected and warmed them in the dark nights. Some of them were called Old Sages: They were those who mediated between the Elements of Nature and the material world, holders of ancient powers with which they were born and which they then handed down to their successors. They could blend in and disappear in the eyes of others, use their magic to perform miracles, could increase their strength and speed dramatically, and could read minds and move objects with their thoughts. The title of "Old Sage" referred to the first Village Chief, an old man who helped his people to settle in that place, facing dangers and vicissitudes using his magic to create bridges, drive away beasts and make the land fertile. Since then, individuals with similar powers, even young ones, have received this nomea, a noble title for those who would have been the guides, defenders, or scholars of ancient primordial arts. There Krom-Nav and Yughy were born. Since they were children they showed innate abilities: Krom spoke with plants and animals, perfectly understanding their moods and intentions without his mouth producing sound, and he was able to exploit the air currents to run faster or make the windmills move, while Yughy was able to manipulate the fire, deflect water in the fields with only the laying on of hands and carried heavy rocks making them float with the power of his mind. Both were in total control of the elements of Nature, and were the most talented of those with their powers. The other villagers respected them, and somewhat feared their power. Krom tried to use his powers to improve life in the village, and was always thinking of his fellow citizens, but Yughi was a much more restless spirit: He composed works of art, sculpting the surrounding hills, but often caused disasters such as landslides and mountain slides, when they pissed him off, he controlled torches to set the pants of troublemakers on fire, and played with water, causing it to float in the air, but when he got distracted, the water fell back, often ruining previously irrigated fields. All pranks that Krom-Nav then had to solve, and the bickering between the two brothers was all too frequent. After a few years, the two grew up, and Krom-Nav was elected full-fledged Sage and head of the village of Missa, while Yughy, also elected Sage, became his trusted second. But not even the time to celebrate, that the tragedy struck the village. A neighboring village, made up of a tribe of hunters and vandals, wanted to take possession of the powers of the Sages of Missa. Thus a war broke out which nearly wiped out the Missians, as the enemies burned houses and destroyed crops. In a last desperate attempt, Krom-Nav defended the survivors of his people, together with other Old Sages and the best Missian warriors, while Yughy shaped with his Psychic power, the metal extracted from the earth, and the wood of the last unburnt forests, a large and stately ship where all the Missians boarded. The few left to defend them sacrificed themselves with honor as Krom-Nav mounted Gheos, and set sail, concentrating his powers and controlling the wind to swell the ship's sails. That terrible night, fortunately, most of the Missians survived, including Yughy, Krom-Nav, and his still infant son, little Lehander. Lehander was now 10 years old, born with one yellow and one black eye, his hair shimmered in the light and turned dull in the shade, he was an enterprising and playful child, also endowed with powers, like his father. While his uncle steered, and Krom, his father, made sure all was well on the ship, Lehander slept peacefully in the hold, where everyone's dormitories resided. As the ship cradled him in the waves, his dreams came alive with strange visions: Before him loomed an ominous mountain, tall, with spiers that seemed to form a thorny crown of pointed rocks, and the front wall carved as if it were an evil visage. From the "mouth" of the mountain, incandescent lava and magma came out, a real river of death, and from it arose monstrous creatures with red and yellow skin. Then the dream became absurd, moved, strange, many different images of strange creatures fighting against fire demons, until everything suddenly stopped. Lehander saw the Volcano, again, but this time from above, and with it a whole island, huge, with blue seas, green forests, steep mountain ranges and all sorts of natural wonders. Then in front of him, a ball of light. When he tried to touch her, he woke up. It was now full night and beside him was his father. -DAD…DAD WAKE UP!- Krom-Nav opened his eyes lazily, seeing his son shaken. -Hey…did you have that nightmare again?- -Yes! But this time it was longer! There was the Volcano, the demons, and then other creatures appeared, and they all lived on this huge and beautiful island in the middle of the sea!- Krom, listened curious, but disturbed. His son not only had both his and his brother's abilities, but he had developed unusual powers: He often saw how the child, in totally random moments, was able to move his own and the shadows of objects hit by the sun, as if they were solid, and he was able to mold them into any shape. In the same way he was able to "take" the rays of the sun or the moon that shone through the cracks in the wood of the ship to illuminate a totally dark place. He also had the unnerving ability to make small predictions: Krom could not get out of his mind how, one day, Lehander said "I'm going to look for a blanket.", and in that instant the climate, which until then had been scorching, suddenly became cloudy and cold, so much so that he had to interrupt the navigation for two days. So those dreams she told him were hard to ignore. They sounded absurd, but what if they were harbingers of something horrific? He couldn't take this lightly, he had learned over the years that chance was nothing more than a way for the mind to justify natural phenomena and destiny. Krom spoke about this a few nights later with his brother Yughy, after Lehander had a similar vision again, but he kept telling him not to worry, while they were at the bow looking at the sea, that probably the child's immature powers made harmless pranks. -Krom, you get too worked up…do you remember, when we were kids, I had that dream about a red-hot rock that would hit me on the head?- -Yes, I remember…you were so agitated that when you finally sat down under a tree and a pine cone hit you, you passed out for hours from terror.- -You never remember nice things…anyway if you notice I was a child, and while you already had conversations with blackbirds and lizards, I still had to figure out how to avoid setting fire to the grove behind the house…- -So you want to tell me that Lehander is only very young?- -And also that his powers sometimes go to his head! Then he's always been a kid with a wild imagination, you shouldn't take it too seriously!- The two continued to converse about it, while the night sky was lit only by moonlight. Krom-Nav continued to be worried about his son's visions, while Yughy continued to reassure him. Krom, however, couldn't get over it, since that wasn't the only thing troubling him. -Sometimes, when he thinks he's alone, I hear him talking as if he were with someone else...often it almost seems like he's "arguing" with himself.- -Maybe just play, don't you think?- -I know my son, and I distinguish well when he plays and when something is wrong. He's had weird attitudes ever since he started walking on this ship. He has powers unlike ours or any other Sage who have come before us, plus it seems as if he is never fully awake…I think this journey has become too long…our people need a place to call home…and this vessel can no longer be. Far too many people were born and died here, and I think that the continuous wandering in the sea for years is doing as much harm to our body as to our psyche.- -I know brother...I know...- Yughy said, as he placed a hand on her shoulder. -…But I'm sure we're almost there. I read the stars yesterday, they seemed to be in the right position, and a few days ago I saw some seagulls in the sky! We are certainly close to the earth!- -You say? What if it was just an islet? A tiny strip of land?- -It will mean that we will replenish the supplies, we could take Lehi and the other children for a walk, and then we will leave again! Where there is a strip of land Often there are others not far away, who knows, maybe after that we won't find a bigger island, or an entire continent!- -…Let's hope so…- -Hey, Hey! Don't make that face. Come on, if I can get that frown out of you, as soon as we stop I'll have Lehander go on a little adventure! As soon as he helps me gather wood, he'll forget about his bad dreams! What are you saying, big brother?- -…Thanks Yughy.- They continued to converse for a while, Krom-Nav felt more and more reassured by the words of his brother, who had always helped him raise his son: While escaping from Missa, little Lehander's mother, Astreg, was killed by an arrow shot straight to the heart. Krom-Nav had not had time to bury her for years, and kept her remains, mummified so as not to lose them, in a remote room of the ship, waiting for a suitable place for her burial. Since then Krom raised his son alone, with the help of Yughy, who often entertained the child, making him do small jobs on the ship, teaching him some magical techniques, and playing the funny uncle. The two spent a lot of time together, often not even Krom knew where Lehander was, only to later find him with his uncle. As the two brothers continued to talk, a yell from the watchtower made them whirl around. -FOG BANK COMING SOON!- The two brothers ran to the helm, which was being steered by one of their best men, Hagar. -What happen?- -We are entering a bank of fog, Krom. Looks pretty thick,- -Fog? But how?- The ship then plunged into fog. All the Missians exited their cabins and made their way to the deck. Lehander reached his father and hugged him tightly, while Krom kept his arm around him. The fog was thick, white, so much so that everyone could feel the steam touching them like a caress, and the salty smell of the sea almost seemed like a sweet aroma. This penetrating fog reminded everyone of the fog of Missa, and caused a sense of nostalgia, serenity, peace in the souls of each of them. Either because of Hagar's caution, or because of the pearly and compact vapor, the mist looked like an infinite Cloud in which the ship was almost swimming. Abruptly, Hagar stopped. Something in the sea was moving. A rumbling was rising from the depths of the sea, and it seemed to get closer and closer. Everyone felt it, and terrified they stood silent, hugging their loved ones. Krom, he looked around, perceived a great, immense force around them. Yughy instead heard only an indecipherable muttering. Then, suddenly, a gasp. The ship began to rock violently, everyone held on to something, the two brothers barely resisted standing. The ship rocked for minutes, until something popped up from the sea: An enormous head, twice the size of the ship, emerged from the water. A gargantuan creature with a reptilian head, mottled and scaly skin, tinged with a brilliant abyssal blue, opened its mouth, emitting a high-pitched dissonant song and displaying thousands of sharp teeth, arranged in a comb, as large as the trees of the ship. His mouth shut, his oil-black eye opened, and he just stood there staring at the ship. Krom-Nav approached the rail, where the eye of the creature scrutinized the ship, while Yughy and Lehander watched the scene amazed together with the rest of the people. -KROM! COME BACK HERE!- -Keep calm…- -KROM! FOR THE SAKE OF THE ELEMENTS, IT'S NOT A DOLPHIN!- -I said stay calm, Yughy…I feel it…it's powerful…but it's not hostile…- -…HOW SHOULD YOU SAY THAT YOU FEEL IT?- Krom got as close as possible. He saw the giant pupil turn towards him, narrow and then widen. He feared neither the ship nor Krom. And he didn't seem to want to attack her. Lehander also approached, as if attracted by that magnificent creature. Krom held his son close, and in the process, tried to use his powers to communicate with us. The only thing he heard were strange words in an incomprehensible language. -Dad...maybe I can understand you...- Krom wondered for a moment, how could his son already know a language that he didn't know either? But he could not let fear dominate him. -...Lehe...be careful...and tell us what the beast wants.- Lehander approached, under the astonished eyes of all. The mighty animal began to make strange noises, but it seemed that somehow, its roaring gurgle and its high-pitched song, resembled words, sentences, a finished speech he was having with the child. Abruptly, he changed, and Lehander turned to face his people. -…He said his name was Murena. It lives a little further on, in its great lair at the bottom of the sea, near a southward current, and a ditch beyond it. She says that she is one of the guardians of this sea, and that she has a friend with many tentacles, with whom she sometimes fights over the place where she likes to eat. Near her lair is also a large Island. If we ask them please we can live there! There's plenty of room, lots of wood, enough food and water for everyone! We just have to not fish too much and not catch too much. She says she has many other friends on earth, and she doesn't want some of them to get angry.- The great Moray eel slowly closed and reopened her eye towards the boat, as if it were a sign of assent. Yughy approached his brother. -…it almost seems that…- -Yes…he understood that Lehander is a “puppy”…and made him understand it easily…- -So, there really is an island…and it's big enough for all the people.- -He also said that there are Beasts like her, if not bigger, that could kill us.- -KROM! HE SAID WE SHOULD NOT DISTURB THEM AS WE ALWAYS HAVE DONE WHEN WORSHIP THE ELEMENTS! YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND! WE ARE ONE STEP AWAY FROM OUR NEW HOME! IF IT'S AS BIG AS IT SAYS WE WOULD NEVER HUNGER! WE WOULD RESIST FOR GENERATIONS AND GENERATIONS! FOR THE FIRST TIME YOUR CHILD WILL TOUCH THE WARM GROUND AND NOT THE COLD WOOD OF THIS SHIP! YOU CAN BURY ASTREG INSTEAD OF ROTTING IT IN THE SEA! IF THIS THING WOULD HAVE WANTED TO EAT YOU IT WOULD ALREADY HAVE DONE IT! LOOK HOW BIG HIS MOUTH IS! THINK WHAT'S UNDER THE SEA! IT'S OUR CHANCE, BROTHER! OUR INVITATION TO A PEACEFUL LIFE FOR US, FOR YOUR PEOPLE! FOR YOUR CHILD!- Krom was torn: On the one hand there was the risk of a trap by that monster, on the other, his people were tired of travelling, tired of seeing only the sea and having to make do to survive. Krom approached his son. -Ask her…to show us the way.- -YES!- Lehander with the most innocent smile he could muster looked at his father and uncle, and turned to the Moray Eel. It remained motionless for an interminable minute, then, its head moved forward, towards the direction of the Gheos ship, its long bluish body began to show itself as it swam towards that direction. It seemed endless, but out of the queue, Krom-Nav realized that his brother was right in his greatness. It was ten times the length of the ship, its serpentine body like a moving mountain range, and the long translucent blue fin that ran along its entire body made it even more imposing to the shocked Missians. The Moray Eel swam ahead of the ship, and began to swim straight ahead to show the way out of the mist. Krom, immediately set to work. -HAGAR! FULL SPEED! SAILS EXPLAINED! WE NEED TO STAY BEHIND IT! YUGHY! REACH THE LOOKOUT AND CLIMB THE MAIN MAST! ALL ELSE BELOW DECKS!- And so they did, everyone took their places, the civilians returned, and Krom stood straight in the bow, followed by his son who watched in ecstasy as the gigantic creature guided them towards the unknown. Mist beat against their faces as the ship went at full speed driven by the wind. The creature accelerated more and more as the clouds cleared, they were coming, the salty smell was slowly disappearing. Then, from the top of the watchtower, Yughy screamed together with the other sailor. -GHEOOOOOOOS! GHEOOOOOOOS! EEEEEARTH!- Krom still couldn't see it, then the sunlight blinded him, Lehander, and Hagar. As their eyes adjusted, they saw her: A gigantic island loomed before them, a huge layer of land surrounded by cliffs and a sea so blue it looked like fresh water, so clear that you could see all kinds of sea creatures swimming beside the ship, known and unknown. Two huge mountains welcomed them, towering over endless expanses of lush jungles and forests, and surrounded by towering mountain ranges that crowned the entire island. It was their promised land. Their new home Yughy, he got off, very excited and joined his brother and nephew. -…Look…WHAT SPLENDOR...- -…Yes…finally…we are home…- -We absolutely have to find a name for her…- -I already have a name for her…- -And what will it be called?- -…it will be our Life from now on…- -Life…you mean..?- -Exactly…GORM…- submitted by Mad_Creator to Gormiti [link] [comments] |
2023.06.03 12:22 OkReflection55 Final update and goodbye to this wonderful support group (in the best way possible) x
Well, I guess this is my final update before I delete my throwaway and go back to my normal shitposting. Before I give the final update I just want to express how invaluable this community has been. We are a diverse set of people who are caught in a very unique situation. It’s been some time since “D-day” and since I questioned every moral and ethical value I have. I am pleased to say that I now have a boyfriend out of this situation. A boyfriend that I can talk to and see whenever I want. A boyfriend that has acknowledged his faults in his previous marriage and is dealing with the consequences of the divorce proceedings. He has been wonderful and respected my decision to remain distanced from his marriage/financial/custody battle. I’ve made him “date me from scratch” and we are getting to know each other on an entirely new level. We even had a fight! I know that might sound like a strange thing to be excited about but it’s really not. He is starting to experience me 24/7 and get the “real me”. Not the beautiful, curated mistress that greets him at the door. I’m not saying this will work, it may very well not, but I’m excited at the prospect of giving this an authentic crack. I’m so reassured to know that my feelings were in fact mutual, and not a fantasy. Thank you again to this community. You’ve given me so much strength xxx
Interim update: Well, after some NC and wonderful advice from my reddit family - we have gone legit! They have both engaged lawyers to start the divorce proceedings and divide the assets etc. They have done an intake for family mediation for custody arrangements. We have a wonderful dinner date booked for Friday and he is coming to spend the weekend (without secrecy!). Turns out all of my “very real” feelings were in fact real. He even told his family and they have cut him off and he is accepting of the consequences of his decisions. I’m still making him work for it. He needs to “date me” as a single man. I will update you all in a month or so. I’m very aware of what I am taking on and so is he. We are ready to give it a go. Thank you for the support x
Original post: It’s happened! DDay has arrived. Advice greatly appreciated.
He (34M) and I (30F) originally met at work approximately four years ago. I was attracted to him instantly and the feeling was certainly mutual. However I quickly found out he had a wife and three kids. Due to this, I wrote him off as a dating prospect. The thought of being the OW went against every moral fibre in my body. I have worked tirelessly to establish a successful career so I was also very conscious of the risk of workplace relationships in general. We slowly got to know each other over a year as just friends. We worked within different teams so whole-of-office work events was when we really got to know each other. One day we had work drinks and we shared a secret kiss. Oh. My. God. The sparks! Everything was so intense.
I have never been the OW before and the intensity of our connection terrified me so I ghosted him after that, unless it was work related, for around two years. Early this year, at another work event, we finally admitted our feelings. He was in the process of changing jobs so the workplace concerns were somewhat eased for me. He ended up lying to his wife about work meetings to come see me at my home 1-2 days a week. We went to concerts and bars together and we even had managed to go away for weekends. I had the most phenomenal, sensual and beautiful 5-6 months of my life. We would both frequently comment about how intense our connection was sexually and emotionally. We would have incredibly deep, raw conversations and absolutely incredible sex. We both became each others “go-to” for everything. He was extremely open about his family life and deteriorating marriage. I also respected that he never spoke poorly about his wife despite the relationship issues.
A few weeks ago he told me that his wife had discovered some messages between us when using his laptop. We decided to limit contact for a bit but she continued to deep dive (which I totally understand - I would as well). Well, she found all of our photos, videos, bank statements and emails about week ago. The fallout from this has been horrendous. She has attempted to contact me on social media (now deactivated) and told colleagues in my workplace of the affair. She has also told his entire family. On the day it happened he called me to tell me and said that we would have to end things so he could work on the marriage. I was very understanding and thanked him for our wonderful memories. He then reached out again shortly after saying that he couldn’t stand not having me in his life and retracted his wishes to end us. I didn’t agree or disagree. I just said that he needs to go sort his life out at home and we can discuss it later.
As of last night he has returned to their home after staying with his brother to discuss everything. While he is there he is basically on lockdown. We can’t communicate at all. He has acknowledged that he has an incredibly difficult decision to make and I have reassured him that if he needs to completely end our relationship I won’t be angry or upset but I will not continue to have him in my life as a friend. I wouldn’t be able to handle that. He was sad but understanding. I asked that he advise me as soon as possible of the decision so I am not just waiting around. Should I proactively set a timeframe within myself? How long is a fair time to wait? I’m so lost and need to prioritise myself and my happiness as well.
I’ve really tried to be as calm and as reassuring as possible for him as I want his decision to be carefully considered with minimal pressure or influence from me. What he doesn’t see is the devastated mess I am right now. The thought of not having him in my life makes me feel physically sick. I’m scared that if he chooses his wife I will be alone trying to recreate that connection with other people. Not being able to call or text him before bed is destroying me. I slept on the couch last night because the thought of going to bed without a call from him was heartbreaking. I even cried before because I saw his toothbrush when I got out of the shower (lame). I’ve opened up to a few trusting friends about the situation and they have been amazing but I don’t think they truly understand the confusion, pain and frustration.
This is such a unique situation and I am so glad I have found this group ❤️

2023.06.03 12:18 Fonzworthy Law Conversion or Non-Law Master’s?
I am due to graduate this summer with a potential high 2.1 or even a First. I have some legal experience but I have not secured a TC. I got very close in the application process for a vac scheme with some MC and US firms but a common complaint was lack of professional/educational experience.
Although I am still applying to non-law entry level jobs and paralegal roles, I am considering further study. I was keen on completing an LLM in an area I am truly interested in, although I understand there is little benefit. I am therefore considering completing either the PGDL/MA Law conversion, MSc Management with Finance at Durham or Bath, or apply to Oxbridge in December if I get a First.
The MSc Management would open more doors if I was ultimately unsuccessful in entering law, and may prove useful for commercial law (I am not choosing it purely for this). However, if I got a TC then that is an extra year of study on top of the Master’s.

This is a big problem that doesn't receive adequate attention. If you are wondering what is happening to the foreign aid through embassies look no further than our NGOs and more specifically the head of a major NGO that hoardes all the money to himself and through enough research, I discovered the strategies he uses.
He steals about half the salaries of his employees through a big project which is called "cash for work" by the UNICEF and many other such projects, and the lie he used to tell is that "we use the money to hire more people" which is big lie because he is not the one paying them.
He arranges meetings with ambassadors from Europe to make sure his NGO gets the funding it needs without actually using it.
He overworks his employees and make them work 12 to 16 hours a day with a salary of 150 dollars, taking advantage of poor people. Keep in mind that the salary they are paid is also through foreign funding and cannot be this low. Not to mention the contract they make them sign states 8 hours of work a day.
The Japanese solar aid that arrived last year is being shamelessly sold by his NGO in the open.
He is the kingpin and only employs sheep that follow him for money. The head of all the projects which total about 7 or 8 every 3 months gets paid per project 1200 dollars through the bank, but he only keeps 1200 pays the rest to the NGO.
As far as I know he bribes everyone responsible for inspection. And tell his employees to lie about their salaries if they want to keep the job.
He also hires powerful gang and clan members from every sect as security for his business. He keeps appearances with political parties but as far as I know he is not affiliated to any.
Finding proof against him is extremely hard and fruitless at the end of the day, because we as people are the problem. At least he is not sectarian and that is his only redeeming quality.

2023.06.03 12:08 ROCKnROADKILL I don't know what I'm doing.
This is going to be long, please bear with me.
I'm 20. I'm in a really wierd spot in my life and I hear it'd like that for everyone in their twenties or around this point in life. ⚠️ Also this contains some talk about drugs and abuse so be warned please ⚠️
I had a lot wierd situations I encountered growing up that I didn't know how to deal with. I've been told I did exceptionally well but I don't think I did. I know this sounds stupid but where I was going to school at the time, there weren't a lot of just plain Americans there. It was a catholic school with kids from all over the world: Vietnam, Ethiopia, Cambodia, Mexico, Argentina, you name it. All very rooted in their cultures. When I got to 3rd grade I was just screwed. Kids would hang out with exclusively people from their cultures and I was the only person there who didn't have that so I had literally nobody to play with or talk to. My family is also split between really anti catholic and religious and i was going to catholic school at the time so it was tense... My grades started slipping and my father, whom I was extremely close to, moved away for reasons I still can't quite figure out. My mother had this roommate at the time who would always have these strippers, drugs, and wierd sex stuff constantly in myproximity and it made me super uncomfortable.the same woman would tutor me because I struggled in school and she would scream in frustration that i didnt understand. She and her sisters would Call me stupid because i couldnt divide decimals and such. The place we were living in belinged to her family and they hated black people so they just hated us. I transferred to a school In a suburb north of my city and lived outside the attendance boundary so whenever people asked me where I lived I had to lie. A girl got expelled for living outside the attendance boundary I remember. I met great friends there but they could never come to my house and they never really could know much about me. And they were rich and I was really struggling with my mom so it was just hard to find activities we could do together without having to pay a whole bunch of money for it. I helped my mom at work a lot doing pop up shops selling clothes at festivals and doing community work in education speaking on panels and doing workshops with college students and professors (im about 9-12 atp). Anyway, fast foward to high school and it's just chaos. People constantly doing xans in class smoking in the bathrooms. I've been told I'm really smart and talented in many things, but I was kind of bad at socializing with people my age because I was so used to talking with adults. But this place had no value for that. The school sucked. Eventually I transferred to an amazing school that I absolutely loved, but I had to move in with my estranged father. It was hell. He was physically and psychologically more Abusive to me in that time than anything I could comprehend at that point. When the pandemic shut down my school, my dad made me drop out to help him pay bills. Eventually I ran away back to my mother because I had nowhere to go. I packed everything I could, and left. It was February and it was freezing. I wasn't sure I would make it. At this point in my life the person I'm closest to is my grandfather. My family believes he is schizophrenic but he instilled an appreciation for music and art that was very therapeutic to me at the time. So when I ran, I ran to him. Fast foward to when I turned 19 and i don't know exactly what happened but things got really REALLY bad. I got a job which was good, but I was missing a lot of skills people my age need to have. My mother ended up losing the sight in her left eye and nobody would hire her because she's a liability and lacks credentials for most jobs. I started getting into psychedelics which kind of disturbed my mood's continuity. And then at work one day this guy gave me oxy that had fent in it and pressured me to do it in the bathroom even though i said i just wanted to see about it later (note: this was legit the dumbest shit i ever did.) I started having a really bad overdose. I kept vomitting and vomitting and felt like my whole body was shutting down. I dont know how i made it through that. I never touched that crap again after. The high was amazing and felt so euphoric but it felt like it was killing me at the same time. So at this point I started taking on the bills and providing for her. She got odd jobs here and there and helped however she could and honestly I believe she did more than I did, but my aunt is also living with us and literally lives here rent free doing NOTHING except taking care of her parents while simultaneously living off their social security and pensions.Pays no bills. Fast foward to now and my grandfather has stage IV prostate, bone, and lung cancers. He's been in so much excruciating pain and I don't know what to do. I'm currently getting my GED, working, and trying to pursue my dreams in the arts and honestly, the whole situation I'm in feels like my fault. I don't know how I'm going to do anything with my music/art or take care of my family. Every day I feel so scared and trapped and anxious. I genuinely feel like everyone around me just hates me, I know they don't, it's just this anxious paranoia I have. I feel like I have actually had a really good quality of life but I just didn't maximize on my opportunities out of selfishness. I try to get put there and do things and somedays I feel really great but something will just send me spiraling for no reason. I legit feel like I'm losing my mind every day and I don't want to talk to anyone about it. I do, but nobody can say anything to fix this. Plus everyone around me is going through shit. I don't want to feel like this.
TLDR: Daddy issues money issues drug issues life issues. Pervasive fear dominating my social life and I think I'm losing my mind. Thanks for hearing me out.
