Author's Note: This original work had once been created in hopes to be an original Star Wars story. The author has adapted the story to be its own original work taking place in the franchise. In particular, the author has chosen between the movies of Episode 6 and 7. Main characters, battles and other major events will either be cut out or referenced. This is not a fanfiction. All characters were created from the author aside other characters, such as the sentient species, items like blasters, were created and rightfully owned by Lucasfilm.
17 Standards Years Ago
She recalled the day when her brother was gone for good. Little Sorella was 6 years old. She and her brother, Dearthair, 12 were on their own in Kail.
Kail was Coruscant's smaller twin, on the grassland planet Miero. The town had stone adobes of shops and homes, everyone full of giddy and glow. Out to the south laid Neero, a spaceport settlement. On the occasion, some folk traveled to Neero to obtain exotic goods to sell back in Kail.
Despite the hearty prosperity of Kail, Sorella, and Dearthair were orphans. They hid in their ruined home, once full of glee and joy, now faded, cracked, and sloppy. Clothes, pots, pans, holograms, and drawers with emptiness now occupied the home.
Their parents ventured to Neero, trusting Dearthair to take care of the place while they were gone.
Later that day, an investigator visited the home to confirm that their parents, had died while protecting a kid from being taken away by traffickers.
With no parents, they were brought to the next town, Grangor. Yet, both knew, they couldn't stay there. The foster center was a heap, a dump. The caregiver didn't care about the kids trashing the place, she just wanted her money from the adoption fee to bid and brag about how she won another bet on Odupiendo racing. The children there began to form groups, making turfs and destroying each other's territory.
Not to mention, the possibility of separation. Their chances were even higher considering families of Grangor could only afford for 2 children to raise. They knew if either one of them left, they would no longer be the family they once knew before.
So by the next day, Sorella and Dearthair escaped and stayed in Kail. All it became was their next worst nightmare. The town had been ransacked by raiders. The community now had to use its funds to restore what was lost. And that meant raising prices and trips to Neero to resell exotic goods for better deals.
Despite this, they went back to their home and pondered about the food they would eat and how they could keep the place up.
At first, they begged for a bit. And when begging didn't work, one would pickpocket the distracted fool. They used any credit they acquired to quiet the rumbles in their stomachs.
Dearthair even began to ask for jobs around town but no one wanted to hire them. Not enough money to pay, one vendor noted. Had they not used the funds, there would've been a chance.
However, sometimes, if the shipments they received or the abundance of the crop were good, a few of the family friends they knew would stop by and give the siblings food. One of them, Kli, a Zeltron, tried her best to visit often, cleaning their home and cooked meals. She told them she would have offered her place but unfortunately, due to audits visiting, she did not want to risk them being taken back to foster care. (After all, for her, it was hard to lie. She hated telling a lie).
The siblings didn't mind, they appreciated the help.
They did eventually stop pickpocketing aside Dearthair who had gotten better at it. He promised to stop but he figured a few credits wouldn't hurt.
He was almost caught once at the same time as the day Sorella last saw him.
Dearthair was eyeing around a restaurant, searching for a clumsy idiot. There were a few visitors from other worlds here, whining and belching their sorrows away about some rumored war. This prompted Dearthair to steal without worry. Who would even notice? Even the bartenders would be too busy to give these drunks their drinks and people chatted about their life at tables.
As he passed by a few patrons, talk fumbled into the air. "Did you hear?" a Rodian stammered. "They're taking the children....just come in and start shooting..."
"What is the New Republic going to do about it? Nothing!" a Twi'lek snapped.
"I've heard that they use certain techniques....they don't remember who they were," an elderly man huffed.
Dearthair grumbled. None of these clients seemed to be carrying a huge sum of credits. Most looked down on their luck. Then there was...
He spotted a drunken human fool, slamming his credits on the counter. The human had on shiny boots with a blaster at his side, and gold linings on his coat toppled with a furry vest. "Moar!" he yelped. "Dang tenders....can't even affurd a proper dr...visit Kail they said, the best place to hide and..."
Dearthair slithered by the human's side, eyeing the gold before his eyes. He glimpsed around the room, checking for onlookers one last night in case anyone had the idea to look.
He stopped as he felt the human turn to him. "Hey kid...cun you tell sumone to hurry it up? I hit the jackpot today!"
"Oh, did you?" Dearthair said, raising his eyebrows.
"Sure did," the human burped. "Got me a hefty bounty and now I lay here low. I heard this place was the besst. It's gone to crap. You all this money for nothing....you might as well just take off to another place....they say a storm's brewing....so run if you an..."
"Really, huh?" Dearthair continued, now secretly roaming his hand in the human's coat pockets, scrambling for credits.
"Kid, listen to me, HIC-UP, you're better off on your own if I were you." The human sneezed and tossed his credits on the counter to the bartender. "Yo tender, gimme another one of those bluey thingies. The watchmacallit with the special."
"That's unfortunate," Dearthair hummed, now counting how many credits he had in his hand before shoving it in his pocket.
The human swirled around in his seat, causing Dearthair to flinch. He froze, terrified that he was caught. The human hadn't seen it but the way his eyes stared at the boy...it was like he knew.
He proved to be wrong as he sighed. "Kid, I know I...HI-CUP...may look like a fool but...never turn your back down on an offer. Look around...no one's coming to help you. The town got ransacked by raiders and do you get? Nothing. You have to use everything on your own to 'fix' your problems. Yet if it was Neero, oh, for sure, let's make it all pretty and shiny for the tourists. And yet they stop the imports because of the darn fear of theft."
"Well, everyone helps when they can," Dearthiar noted. "A little bit of help can go a long way."
"Yeah, but to be a man...you have to learn to be on your own. You wanna be someone's babysitter fine. They admire you more though...when you can show you can stand on your own two feet. That's what everyone wants. So guess what...if this upcoming war starts and the New Republic ain't doing a lick of Bantha dong to help....then my allegiance is to those who offer me a place."
The human glanced at his new drink sitting quietly, took one long chug, and laid his head on the counter to sleep.
Dearthair breathed in and out, full of relief. The other customers were still busy with their worries. Digging in for a few more credits, he booked out of the restaurant, heading back home.
He knocked on the door and sounded the bell, alerting Sorella he was there. She led him in and they counted the credits.
"1,000 credits," Dearthair noted. "Enough for 2 loaves of bread, some pieces of fruit, blue milk, porridge from Kali's and maybe we'll have enough to buy The Last Starfighter." He nodded to the holoprojector they had propped by the window along with a few holograms.
"Can't wait to watch that one, I heard from Yue it was a good show," Sorella said.
They went out to buy the items and returned home happily. Yet, Dearthair's mind did not venture off from the human's words. Even when watching The Last Starfighter, he kept thinking back to that old kook's speech. Were they truly doomed to be there?
Well, he knew the guy was drunk but still...his words held some truth.
Kail was surely picking its place back up but time proved other areas were now suffering. Neero was barely getting any more exotic goods, causing another economic shift, leaving Kail to sell only what they produced around them. And last of Grangor, pfff, who knows. And with words about war, kidnappings, and no one helping....it made Dearthair wonder how he could escape this.
He stared at Sorella, intentively interested in the hologram. She had become a bit of a handful now. Kli wasn't around as much considering she was preparing her shop for inspection. Sorella once had almost set the house on fire by trying to cook some food. Or that other time when she tried to take some strange "candy" from an alien, he had to swipe her away.
He was the one who had to take charge, making sure they had food, she wasn't going anywhere she shouldn't be, keep aware of who was at the door, and how to pickpocket....come to think of it, he surely could've survived by himself. Still, he knew Sorella was all that was left of the family he knew.
His parents...they would be so proud of him, doing all he could to provide for himself and his sister. Yet, there was only so much he could do now.
"Hey, Sorella?" he asked as the hologram ended, the hero fading in the blue light. "Do you ever think about...getting away from here?"
Sorella thought for a bit. "I don't know...I mean...I like it here. It can be rebuilt. We just need to get more money."
Dearthair felt his heart clenched. "Well, what if you had to get away from here....and go anywhere else?"
"Well, yeah, I would go but then I go back over here," Sorella beamed.
"What is it that you love about it here?"
"Well, how it used to be. Remember when Kli would give us those Oprair cakes, Ronen with the Swirly Tumblers, Jei let us play with the Pikies. This...is home to me. I can't imagine leaving it." Sorella's eyes glistened with tears. "And Mom...Dad..."
Dearthair swung his head. He circuited his eyes back to Sorella only, seeing her stare into space, more tears plundering down.
He felt guilty seeing her eyes like that. It would eat him up next, reminding him about his parents. It reminded him though what a baby she was...she could never keep her emotions in check. She was always so sensitive when it came to things that bothered her, like when he told her to be careful about cooking.
"Are we going to go away?"
Sorella's eyes were now on Dearthair, awaiting an answer.
Dearthair shook his head. "The only one coming and going is me," he said, patting her head. "You're staying here."
Sorella laughed. She yawned and got up, heading towards her room. "Goodnight, Dearthair," she said. "Thanks for always looking out for me, brother."
Dearthair smiled. "Of course," he said, his eyes averted away. "Anything to keep family together."
She didn't remember the exact time, but it happened at the darkest hour of the night. Sorella woke up to hearing screams, and loud wails booming through the atmosphere.
Then came the smoke. She sniffed the air, a wisp of charcoal and harsh heat filling her lungs. She coughed a little before getting up, wondering if maybe it was Dearthair this time trying to cook (he had his moments too).
Instead of the glare from the windows, she saw bright gleams of blazes erupting around the other homes.
"What?" she gasped, checking around and seeing the chaos unfold before her eyes.
A few of the homes were destroyed, either eaten alive by the pulsing inferno or shattered apart.
People were running everywhere, bellows echoing and confusion amassing.
What the hell was going on?
"Dearthair! Kail's on fire!" Sorella yelled, running to her brother's room. She went inside to see he wasn't there. "Dearthair?"
BOOM!
The house shook wildly. Sorella stumbled to keep her balance. She ducked under a table, stayed for a few minutes, and then bolted out to the door again, to peek.
She now saw one of the sources of the chaos. Before her eyes was a white armored abomination, its hideous nightmarish visor scanning around for its next victim. Behind its body, it held a giant tank and in its hands, a huge gun with a nozzle. The abomination aimed the nozzle at a home and enraptured its flames from the gun. It engulfed the house in seconds.
Sorella gulped, stepping back inside her home. Danger lurked behind her as she twirled around to see flames were now entering her home.
Sorella shrieked and scampered out.
She took no notice of the abomination known as the Flametrooper, eyeing her running away. "We have one here, near the homes," he noted.
Sorella mindlessly searched around. "Dearhair!" she cried, wondering where he was. She even looked for the adults, any familiar faces but no one stopped, they continue to run without care.
"Help!"
Sorella turned to see a kid like her now snatched up by another abomination. This one had a different visor, its helmets more delicate with design and he carried no tank, just a blaster in his hand. "That's almost all of them!" the second abomination, the Stormtrooper said, carrying the struggling kid away.
Sorella felt a verge of tears and bellows in her body but she knew she had to escape. In times of danger like this taught by Dearthair, she knew she had to run.
She darted past a couple more homes before she then saw one of the Stormtroopers takes notice of her. "Get her!"
She crawled through gaps, between walls, under trenches, anywhere to get away from the horrid monsters.
She never turned around.
Sorella made it safe once she had entered a small hole in a broken-down store, its entrance blocked by the fallen beam supports. The troopers behind her attempted to fight their way in, clashing with the beams. She ran to the back entrance and shut the door, hoping for some reason at least that would stop them.
She turned around to see another nightmare. The Stormtroopers with the kids were heading inside large vehicles. Kids all stuck together, hugging one another and crying. A few bodies laid on the ground. Some folks still fought the troopers, which unfortunately ended in their demise.
"You won't take him away from me!" a mother yelled. She was on the ground the second she jumped at a trooper.
Sorella hid behind a crate, peering from above. She spotted him.
"Dearthair?" she said, seeing a familiar figure. He was guided by two Stormtroopers, heading inside one of the large vehicles.
"No, Dearthair!" Sorella yelled.
She foolishly ran forward, only to be picked up by someone. Kli held her in her arms, rampantly charging towards a land speeder.
"No, my brother!"
"We'll find him," Kli said. "I'm sorry, Sorella, there's nothing we can do. You will die!"
"I don't care, I don't want them to take my brother!".
Sorella's eyes misted. Her vision blurred as she turned from the inferno of homes to the somber kids in vehicles and looked back to the land speeder, a few others joining them. There were the last of parents, shopkeepers, and their children.
"Hit it!" Kli said as she strapped herself and Sorella in.
"No, Dearthair!" Sorella said, turning around.
The pad to the vehicle closed up, sealing the familiar figure's fate.
"No! Turn back! Turn back!" Sorella pleaded. "Mom...Dad...brother!"
No one gave her any recognition as the land speeder surged forward, Kili holding Sorella tightly, trying to calm her.
"We have to tell everyone about this," Kli hollered. Get the New Republic, contact the other planets around us and..."
She never finished her words as a huge blast exploded behind them, sending the vehicle tumbling.
All Sorella remembered from this part was that she was flying in the air for a bit and hit the ground, knocking her to sleep.

2023.06.07 09:11 smolrose- Still feel like a little girl trapped in a young adult’s body
F21 who feels somewhat behind on her life compared to her peers and is kind of embarrassed about it. For context I work part time at a grocery store making $12 an hour with little hours since they were cut short so I’m scrambling for a full time job with a different company. A friend(f21 as well) of mines who I’m kinda close with is making $15 an hour + tips full time with health insurance, guaranteed hours and pto while it’s practically a miracle atp if I get anything over 15 hours a week. My situationship (m21) moved out of his parents house to be closer to me and he also just got his cdl and he got a job offer where he is getting $29 an hour + overtime, benefits, pto, etc. He really wants to get back with me but the reason I’m not going back with him is I feel like a little girl dating an older guy as he’s far more mature than me. I need money for tuition and a new car which I’m trying to save up for and he wants to support me/help me to get it but I also want to make my own proper money without asking my parents for much of their help even though my mom is willing to help me financially till I’m completely on my own . Now into the school part… I’m still taking community college classes whereas a friend of mines (f20) I made in one of my classes is already transferring to uni despite her graduating a year after me while I still have to complete credits to transfer. Gosh I feel so behind lmao it’s sad. How can I get my life in check? Or even cope and escape with this predicament ? I feel so lost and that everyone is moving so much faster than I am and I’m struggling to keep up.

2023.06.07 08:10 lezgineer Need a new spending checking account
So background, I've been struggling with budgeting lately and think it's time to have a second account that's at a separate bank from my main checking/savings for day-to-day spending (not bills or emergency/sinking funds). I've tried apps like YNAB and I both lack the willpower to check it before making a purchase and find that having 500 budget categories is much more of a headache than just saying here's $x for the month, leave enough for gas. I have a primary checking/savings with a credit union, a discover credit card, and I had an ally account that I used to use for spending. Conventional wisdom is to just use the credit card, but it's way too easy to overspend that way - even if I always pay off the balance. I basically want a card that's just cash in plastic form at a separate bank so I can't just transfer money over on a whim.
I left Ally after over a decade because I've had a lot of issues with them flagging purchases, then having to call in, wait an hour or two and say my stupid security questions over the phone, etc. I'd prefer an in-person bank/cu but all the ones I've seen seem to have insufficient fund fees or not let me disable overdraft.
So with that said I've been looking at SoFi, Discover and Chime. I've heard good things about Discover and had no bad experience with them, but it's too easy to access my credit card if it's in the same app. I plan to put my bills on it, set it to autopay and cut up the card - for credit reasons.
SoFi and Chime I've heard mixed things about. Are there any others I should look at? Is there a better method of non-cash envelope budgeting I'm missing?

2023.06.07 07:57 8000bricks Experian Boost: When There is a Credit on Utility Bills
Hello,
Fell behind on my utilities due to illness. Received help from a community organization and they paid way more than I anticipated, leaving a credit on my water bill of $150. I don't need to pay it for probably 6 months or so. Since Experian Boost checks for payments, should I still send in a small payment each month of $5? Does Boost know there's a credit on the bill? I'm not 100% on how they track things.
Boost increased my score dramatically when I first signed up. Later, I began sending payments to family through Zelle, CashApp for shared utilities instead of directly to the company without thinking about the consequences. Boost dropped those accounts after a few months and stopped reporting them which resulted in a significant 60 pt drop or so. I want to make sure this doesn't happen again.
Thank you for reading :)

2023.06.07 06:06 AKABoy123 [USA-AL/FL] How to Deposit Money When Your Bank Has No Branches/ATMs Nearby
I've had a checking account w/ debit card, a savings account, and a credit card with Chase for many years. Unfortunately, I've moved to an area where the nearest Chase branch and/or ATM is literally 3-4 hours away. I want to stick with Chase and not open any new bank accounts with other banks or credit unions, if at all possible. How do I go about depositing money to my Chase account (or do I have to open a new account with a different bank)? Is it possible to insert my debit card into another bank's ATM, pay a small fee, and deposit money that way?

2023.06.07 03:32 skunkieloo I think I got scammed by a loan company?? Is this normal???
I’m very upset and kinda not okay rn, because I think I was scammed in a way?…
So I am helping my bf to finance his first car (he got his license later in life than I did). And while on the phone with the company that was meant to be the loaner of my bf’s new car, the guy asked if we also had any credit card debt too, to which I was just being honest and said, “well yes I actually have quite a bit”.
The guy told me he could essentially transfer my debt into a loan with them for far less interest than what I was currently paying, which would basically save us a lot of money what with lower monthly fees and interest, and they would basically pay off my credit card and in return I would have a loan with to pay off with them instead. It all sounded great, but ofc before accepting, I discussed it with my bf, and he thought it sounded solid too, so we went thru with it.
Welp, idk if he lied or was just waaaay off somehow on his interest rate quotes that he gave me… But this morning I logged into the app to check how much it will be for my boyfriend’s car loan, and I just see that it said I owe nearly 400 bucks as a monthly payment this month, when before with my credit union’s interest rates and such, my monthly credit card payment was only around 260 bucks. And before anyone asks if they consolidated the car loan + credit debt loan into one, no. They are separate, and I can see I also owe 260 for my bf’s car loan on top of that.
I literally have no words. Part of me wanted to call the guy immediately and ask him why he lied to me and did me so dirty like that, but the other part of me just wants to cry and give up on everything. I checked my other credit card in my bank acc and it’s maxed from when our fridge was out of commission last week and we had no groceries on account of having to dump everything out of the fridge because it spoiled, and now this happens.
I literally had a mental breakdown at the psychiatrist office today while there for an appointment because of all this stress, and not once but twice like I’m so embarrassed and ashamed for letting this happen to us when we are already struggling so badly with debt. Idk how my life ever became this

2023.06.07 02:19 diegoslovaco CMA question
Hello! First post here but been following for a while now.
Recently I came across the Fidelity CMA account with its 2.6% APY seems like a no brainer for a checking account.
I seem some people comment that you can change the core position to SPAXX and get I believe around 4.75% APY but not FDIC insured. Can I do this in my CMA?
The main drawback I’ve seen so far is the lack of Zelle but personally I’d keep my credit union for it so is not a big issue.
I’m just wondering about how fix are the APYs (2.6 and 4.75) and is there any drawbacks or pros/cons I’m missing? Any feedback is welcome!

2023.06.07 01:24 Altmeyer002 Grandpa passed away. He has a joint checking account with my mom
Pennsylvania,USA
My grandpa passed away last month. He was in a nursing home, and the only assets he left behind is 91k. This money is in a joint checking account with my mother at a local credit union.
Looking into “right of survivorship” and similar terms on joint accounts, the full value of the account looks like it should pass to my mother upon his death. The credit union is saying she needs to set up an estate and provide a “short certificate” in order to access anything in the account.
Can anyone tell me if this is correct? She wants to avoid setting up an estate since this one joint account is the only thing left.
Please let me know if I need to provide any additional details!

2023.06.07 01:09 marmite22 Mortgage denied - Halifax won't tell me why
I'm applying for a mortgage. I received a decision in principle from Halifax and put an offer on a flat 30,000 less than the max they said they could lend me. I then proceeded to choose a product during an excruciatingly long phone call last Friday. Today I've been told it's been denied on the hard credit check and that I should check my credit reports.
I've signed up for Experian (999 rating), Equifax (841) and TransUnion. Transunion shows a default on an old TSB account that I didn't know I still had and that I haven't used in close to 15 years. Is that really enough to disqualify me from getting this mortgage? Halifax say they can't tell me why it failed.
I also noticed that the credit check that Halifax put through shows on Experian but shows that my "time at address" is 39 years and 5 months which just so happens to be my exact age. Would them entering that wrong cause issues?

2023.06.07 01:09 Killchrono I feel a lot of conflict about 2e's design is from people not realizing or liking its focus as a strategy game
Ever since the 5e influx, a lot of conversations have been…frustrating me, to put it lightly. There’s a feeling that while people are willing to engage with the game and generally like a lot of the concepts, there are people who get frustrated with Paizo's overarching design decisions to the point they demand change or call certain core philosophies objectively bad design.
As someone who very much likes most of the game's core philosophies, it's taken me a while to wrap my head around it, but I feel there was a crystallizing moment for me the other day when there was
a thread discussing balance vs fun. Essentially, it purported that balance often came at the expense of fun, and that a lot of games end up becoming homogenized or having the soul sucked out of them for the sake of making every option viable.
Now of course, this is a false dichotomy. You can still have a game that is balanced between options that is also fun. A lot of imbalanced games are also not fun as well, even for the people they’re imbalanced in favor of. But it seems to be a major perception that when you play a game, you’re either here for a fun time or you’re here to play for keep and there’s no middle ground.
2e is no different. A lot of people treat the game's design as if it is trying to ruin their fun for the same if balance. Phrases like 'I know the game is balanced, it's just not fun' or 'they've overcorrected because they're too scared of breaking the game' get thrown around a lot.
Now I've seen this a lot over all of 2e's lifespan, but something became apparent as I was reading the thread; something that I’d sort of always realized, but for some reason I can’t figure out, it finally clicked to me how deep and intrinsic it is to the core discussions surrounding 2e.
The simple fact is: there are a lot of people who don’t seem to accept or even realise that PF2e is designed primarily as a strategy game before anything else.
(Just for reference,
I made a Twitter thread about this, so I'm going to copy a lot of almost verbatim, but past that I’m going to elaborate in much more detail on thoughts and specific examples of what I’m talking about)
One of the big disconnects for me when I started playing DnD back in 3.5 (and eventually moved to PF1e) is that when I found out it was grid-based strategy, I was super excited. I loved games like FFT and Advance Wars back in the day, and had only just started playing FE:A, so I was down to clown.
The problem I eventually realized was the game isn't actually built for nuanced tactical play, despite being turn-based and having a grid and rules for interacting with it. It rewards expedient powergamed options and eclipses any concept of power cap.
5e was very similar. I went in seeing it was toned down and expected it to appeal more to that more nuanced gameplay. It certainly held the aesthetic of it, with mechanics like concentration to stop rampant buff stacking and streamline spellcasting, and to its credit it's skill floor was much more stable, making it easier to get on the ground floor with a playable character without needing an obtuse level of upfront system mastery.
But in the long term, I found it was just as bad an offender as 3.5/1e, between more extremely powerful expedient options, poorly tuned inter-class balance, monsters being quickly outscaled by player stats, and advantage being a very swingy buff state.
(sadly I missed 4e, which in hindsight I think would have absolutely been my bag)
So when 2e came out, I was cautious. I had been burnt before, and I was skeptical Paizo could actually stand on their own with a truly unique system apropos of DnD’s existing influence. But when I started my initial foray into the system, gingerly running small one shots and module length adventures with my players, I began to realize…this is it. This is the tactical d20 game I've been waiting over seven years for. Classes are much better balanced, the encounter building rules actually work, and my players are engaging in nuanced tactics beyond just trying to go for the biggest hits every turn. This is great!
I was super excited to have 2e finally meet that goal for being a d20 system that placed tactics at the heart of the gameplay.
...only to find people were bouncing off it while espousing the game's focus on strategy and the balance that came with it too stifling.
I've seen phrases akin to, ‘I get AOEs are effective, but I don't care if they're mathematically balanced compared to single target actions. I want the fantasy of blowing up all the enemies in the room with my fireball, not chipping them down half of their health and letting the martials mop up.’ Literally just the other day, I saw someone complain that they liked save or suck spells and that they were upset 2e did away with it. 'What if I WANT to turn the lich to stone with one spell and win the fight before it even starts?'
Obviously spellcasters are a low-hanging fruit that have been discussed ad-infinitum, but I see the same thing with martials more often than most people would realize. You have comments complaining that the base hit rates being closer to 50% than 70-80% is objectively bad design. People don’t want to engage in buff-based gameplay or teamwork that improves the odds in their favor; they want to have that high base chance as a standard and go to town with minimal windup or strategic investment.
Even from a mechanical standpoint, there's a common disdain towards a lot of the system's more nuanced mechanics that people feel are done more out of anti-fun pedantry than to create meaningful choices. I've seen people go on tirades about hand economy and how they hate needing to weigh up what you're holding at any given moment, all the way up to level 20 with no way around it. Plenty of people hate the shield mechanics for being finicky and seemingly existing for their own sake, while I love them because I get to see exactly when raising it stops my shield ally champion from getting hit and how much damage I chunk off when I block.
A lot of people talk about disconnect of expectations with the designers, but I'm starting to believe the source of this disconnect is rarely what they actually think it is, which is that strategy focus. 2e’s foundation is very clearly focused on trying to create strategy and meaningful gameplay loops via balance and tactical decision making, rather than the intense power curves of previous systems. So why are people engaging in a game like that when they want more freeform expression or have the fantasy be a pure power fantasy?
Well, the answer is, because they never wanted to engage in strategy in the first place, at least as far as the design tenets and expected player input of the strategy genre goes. They're coming in with a different expectation of what genre they want these games to be. I may come into it expecting XCOM and FFT, or even more tactics-focused board games (I mean in the end, what is an RPG with minis but a board game with more steps?). People like me want their character fantasies in a nuanced environment where I still get to have that feeling of being fantastical, but have to play smart to win. I don't have any expedient I-win buttons, and the victory is earnt, not given.
But others may come in expecting Diablo or Dynasty Warriors, where the power fantasy of being a one-man army is the appeal. They want to mow effortlessly through hordes of monsters and soldiers to feel unstoppable, where every attack is merely a scratch. Even bosses are just bigger roadblocks in the way to glory - they may stand a chance at putting you down, but ultimately you're a powerhouse. You're destined for greatness by virtue of the game glorifying you at every turn, narratively and mechanically.
Others still want that epic set piece experience - your Soulsborne/DMC/MGR style boss rushes, or Monster Hunter-esque scenarios against huge monsters, where smaller, less important adversaries are but window dressing to the main event. The game is more or less balanced around your capacity to stand toe to toe with Goliath beasts and master warriors. There is challenge and strategy, but it is focused around this particular format, where the game is about that pinpoint adrenaline, almost reaction-based combat against single major foes. This makes wide swathes of the available options and design decisions in a game like 2e redundant because everything gets consolidated into that focus on boss battles.
(I will say, there are elements of both the above that can exist in 2e, and with enough kerjiggering you can probably create an experience much closer to them than the intended game. But as far as official design goes, they are not the sole focus nor what the game is clearly designed around. There is a holistic experience at play here that incorporates a wider variety of combat scenarios)
And then there are the people who come in with…almost no gaming litmus to compare it to whatsoever. Combat in TTRPGs is the only true experience they've ever had of it being encapsulated in a mechanical experience. They may see it as a draw card. They may see it as an opportunity to just roleplay. Others still may see it as an impediment to their fun.
Obviously no one system is ever going to appeal to everyone, but I feel like a lot of people are coming into 2e either not understanding the fact the game is designed around this heavily tactical experience, or understanding it but not liking this and wanting it to shift design focus.
To be fair, this could be a good wake-up call for the rest of the community. One of the sentiments that often gets touted a lot is that people feel they’ve been misled by the advertising of 2e as a system; particularly coming from 5e, a lot of people feel a lot of the discussion has been about 2e ‘fixing’ its problems, creating a better holistic experience of the same game.
I’m beginning to believe the issue in hindsight is that the people saying that - myself included - have been coming at this from the assumption that
the players who are complaining about 5e are doing so from the angle of a strategy game, when in fact, they haven’t. But in our defense, I can absolutely see why we would have thought that. A lot of complaints relate to topics such as class imbalance, build disparity, poor encounter tuning, lack of coherent rules for character abilities, etc. Essentially, all stuff that reads ‘we care a lot about the mechanics of this game. We want it to be fairer and have more robust systems, more options in combat, etc.’
Essentially, stuff that is inherently linked to this strategy focus.
Clearly this hasn't been the case though, for whatever reason. Maybe it's about time that the people who like PF2e and are trying to sell it to others, and when discussing topics in places like this subreddit, acknowledge that 2e isn't actually an unmitigated power fantasy d20 system, but a version that is aimed at that sort of strategy aficionado who want a game that's about tactical engagement and builds mattering for the sake of how they engage with those strategy elements, rather than just being an expression of how they will inevitably win and treating the mechanics that keep those design goals in check as pedantic and anti-fun.
This will make PF2e a much less universally appealing switch. It might even lose players who'd otherwise not try it. But it's more honest and will probably do more good for bringing and guiding new players without breeding long-term resentment and feeling misled. At the very least, it will frame expectations better.
At the same time, I think a lot more people need to in turn understand that the people like me who really like this game do so specifically because of its focus on the strategy elements; that we understand things like the tight balance and nuanced mechanics are in place to enable that. I feel too much of the conversation can devolve into accusing these design decisions of being anti-fun, almost malicious, and that people who prefer it are being overly pedantic, often to the point of paranoia about imbalances.
Obviously there needs to be nuance. Some people do legitimately want that mechanical element but just disagree with certain points on the way Paizo does it. If people feel certain fiddly elements can be removed or underpowered mechanics can be buffed without breaking the balance or adding even more strategy, then sure, that's great. Let's have those discussions. But once there's a sort of 'I don't care about balance I care about fun' sentiment being thrown around, I feel that's when discussion begins to break down because it's fundamentally asking Paizo to change the direction of their design; one that a lot of people have come to this game specifically for, and pay the designers to make for our tastes.
As I said, no one game is going to make everyone happy, but some games are more focused on what they're aiming for than others. 2e is one of those games. I think the core conflict at the heart of 2e's direction is not that it's designed around a strategy focus, nor that others don't always like that. It's that there's a core assumption everyone playing d20 games is doing so because strategy is the main investment.
There's probably meaningful discussion to be had as to whether there is virtue in this as a core focus. Maybe people like myself are in fact just stickler pedants who are too focused on things being fair and balanced for our own good. Maybe no-one else cares about that nuanced strategy focus and it's too niche a market to bother with past indulging people like me through single player experiences. But either way, understanding that focus and where the differences of want from that will help discussion more than anything else

2023.06.07 01:07 MountainNovel878 Guide to Sourcing Peptides 2023
This community was inspired by our own frustration in navigating the unregulated peptide research community. In doing so, we have compiled information about sourcing peptides, their legality, and the regulatory paradigm that surrounds the actual transaction (payment) for research peptides. When the broader peptide research community also learns about these facets, it will contribute to maintaining the legality and thus availability of research peptides.
ARE PEPTIDES ILLEGAL? Peptides sold, obtained, and possessed for laboratory, research, and analytical purposes are generally legal. Laws and regulations will vary based on country and geographical location.
It is illegal to sell, buy, possess, and utilize peptides for purposes other than the aforementioned.
HOW TO SOURCE RESEARCH PEPTIDES We’ve noticed that many peptide researchers are often inspired by information they hear about on social media, blogs, or in videos. However, oftentimes inadequate research is done in advance of acquiring or attempting to acquire peptides. This puts risk on the individual and on the broader peptide research community.
Research peptides can be obtained from online sources. They can also be obtained by a licensed professional at various clinics (both online and brick and mortar). It is very important to note that just because a clinic prescribes and/or sells peptides, they are almost invariably still sourced from overseas and there is no assurance of quality control. .
For the purposes of our research and this subreddit, we only do laboratory testing on US peptide suppliers. We also only use US testing laboratories (currently, we use two of them).
If you found this subreddit but are interested in peptides for medical use, please consult with a licensed medical professional.
The reason that many people appear not to do this, is that it can be very expensive, difficult to qualify, and not all peptides of interest may be available or indicated.
There are many online research peptide vendors, particularly lately. This is not inherently a good thing as it dilutes the pressure on any given vendor to perform rigorous quality control. Without third party testing, it is virtually impossible to know what you’re getting. Again, this was one of our primary inspirations for starting this community.
The vast majority of vendors are sourcing their peptides from China. A very small number of vendors are manufacturing them in the US. Small batch peptide synthesis has an approximate equipment (not including trained personnel) cost of over half a million dollars. Smaller or less experienced (newer) vendors are unlikely to be doing this. However, if one can identify vendors who are doing this, it is a very good idea in our experience.
Unlike testing one’s luck by ordering small-ish quantities of peptides from overseas, US vendors will provide some of the following additional benefits:
The vendor does all of the work – they do customer service and fulfil orders much more quickly than any sort of international import. They (hopefully) provide replacements when things go wrong. This gives the customer some assurance because there is an entity attached to the order.
They are also less expensive than when obtained from a clinic.
Fortunately or unfortunately, due to research peptides being unregulated, anyone can essentially be a “vendor” without oversight. At the same time, the customer is still likely receiving the same peptide they would have otherwise obtained from overseas themselves. Note – many people think that reliable overseas vendors will sell retail quantity numbers of peptides directly to consumers. This is rarely true, and often leads to being scammed.
This has left a gap for many bad actors to enter the space.
This doesn't mean that all vendors are getting quality peptides from China/overseas either. Some have been shown by researchers to either be dosed in inefficacious amounts, contain none of the actual compound that it should, and/or have completely different compounds than it claims to have.
You can read more about buying from Chinese suppliers
here.
PEPTIDE SOURCING CHECKLIST 1. 3RD PARTY CERTIFICATE OF ANALYSIS (COA) Even when a COA is posted by a vendor, it’s important that it is somehow verifiable. There is a large percentage of photoshopped/fake COAs posted online by vendors and affiliates. For this reason, some legitimate vendors do not post COAs on their website, but make them available upon request.
When reading a COA, purity tells you about the quality of the peptide. This confirms that they gave you the correct product.
Purity is usually more than adequate when comparing or testing peptides. It will give you a general idea about what is in your product and it can still be cost effective.
When also testing for quantity, it gets a lot more expensive. Vendors most typically rely on the tests they received from their Chinese suppliers instead of doing it themselves through a 3rd party lab. These tests cost several times more than purity-only tests, and are not often done.
It is easy for vendors to fake test results that they say they performed themselves. Others fake test results from labs to make it seem like they are 3rd party tested. This makes it important to be able to verify test results.
The lab tests that we have performed are done with testing facilities in the US who we can trust.
2. FORUM The next best place to find information about vendors would be on forums. Namely this subreddit and our
website.
Search through Reddit and see what others have said about their experiences with brands. Namely the customer service, scams, and shipping. These are anecdotal reports, and while we make a strong effort to hedge against vendor solicitation influencing these anecdotes, it is still possible that “recommendations” made by users are some forms of solicitation.
We don't see anecdotal posts or comments as a credible source for dictating the quality of a vendor. There is no way to prove their suggestion.
We have been doing our own anonymous buying from vendors and sending those samples in for testing. You can view these test results on our forum
here.
We prefer to keep everything evidence based and let the COAs and tests speak for themselves.
WARNINGS While you are looking for where to source your research peptides, you are more than likely going to see ads, chat requests, and comments/replies from vendors trying to manipulate users.
We advise you to be smart with engaging with anyone that engages with you for the aforementioned purposes. Check their post history and karma at very minimum (not always indicative of anything, but helpful). It’s likely best to just avoid blindly taking any random suggestions, particularly if made via “DM.”
A rule of thumb is that if anyone pushes in favor of, or against a vendor to a strong degree, likely has a vested interest as a vendor or affiliate.
Some vendors are not happy with the work we have been doing. They know they may be selling low quality peptides and they fear that we will randomly run a lab test on their products. PURCHASING Many peptide researchers do not understand that it can be difficult to obtain peptides from a payment perspective. We have an article about this
here. In short, banks are the intermediary between merchants (vendors) and the credit/debit card brands. Based on rules and guidance from the card brands, banks make policies on what types of product/service types can be offered by merchants (vendors) for card transactions.
Many vendors who offer direct traditional card payment options for research peptides are engaging in what is called transaction laundering. This is the act of misrepresenting, in one or more ways, what they are selling to their bank/payment processor. This comes with serious legal risks that in some cases, can extend to the customers unknowingly.
When customers insist on using their card to buy
research chemicals, they are creating the need for vendors to heavily focus on the huge hassle of payments, instead of things like customer service and quality control. All of the payment work-arounds like CashApp, PayPal, Venmo, etc. are also unsustainable. Once those companies realize that their apps are being used to facilitate the sale of these items, the accounts will get shut down. The only sustainable method for vendors and for customers is cryptocurrency.
Cryptocurrency is not difficult to use, and it removes middle men from a transaction so the customer and vendor can transact without requiring “permission” from an intermediary. You can buy cryptocurrency with a debit card or bank account easily. You will notice that vendors often incentivize the use of this payment method with discounts or by other means. Many vendors also add fees to be able to use some kind of card payment method. There is a reason for this.
Any peptide researchecustomer should be part of the solution, not part of the problem. We don’t want a community of peptide vendors who are fixated on payments to lure in buyers versus fixated on quality control, sustainability, regulatory compliance (legal, and banking/payment compliance).
ENDNOTES We hope that you find this community and its content valuable and helpful.
If you have had any good or bad experiences, please write up a review and post it to the subreddit.
There is a review tag you can use to help others find it easier.
Peptide Source DISCLAIMER While we strive to always provide accurate, current, and safe advice in all of our posts, it’s important to stress that they are no substitute for medical advice from a doctor or healthcare provider. You should always consult a licensed healthcare/medical professional. The content we’ve included in this guide is merely meant to be informational and does not constitute medical advice. Peptides that are available to the vast majority of consumers are for research and laboratory use only. Only vendors that strictly adhere to this legal framework should be trusted, and NO VENDOR that insinuates or promotes (directly or indirectly) human use/consumption of peptides should not be supported by anyone in the peptide community, period. Particularly if the community would like these peptides to remain legally available for research and laboratory use without further regulatory intervention.

2023.06.07 01:02 SaintCharlie Over $60K in loans forgiven on 4/28/23, but still showing on credit report (TransUnion)
I've worked as a state government employee for over 15 years. I submitted the PSLF form in October of 2022. At the beginning of April 2023, I got a notice that my loans were transferred to Mohela. Then, on April 28, I got alerted by Mohela that my loans had been forgiven:
"Congratulations! We completed our review of your repayment and qualifying employment history under the PSLF Program rules including the limited PSLF waiver explained below, and awarded PSLF credit based on these requirements. We determined you have successfully met the requirements of the PSLF Program and your loans listed below have been forgiven. Thank you for your public service!"
When I got this news from Mohela, I wept with relief. Mohela shows my loans as totally forgiven and zeroed out.
I'm curious how long it will take for the loans to be removed from my credit report. I regularly check on TransUnion but they're still listed there. I've seen posts about opening a dispute, but I'm curious if I should just be patient. I'm still wrestling with this feeling of disbelief and latent fear - that the nightmare can't REALLY actually be over, or that they'll suddenly show back up.
Any suggestions on how to proceed? I'm not in a hurry to finance anything and I'm not really concerned about my score (which could possibly go down), but I would REALLY like to see the loans taken off the report. If anything, I just want confirmation that they really are forgiven.
Thank you!

Here's the web page link for all the items available in the game. It will always be the same link. It's my personal website and I don't run any kind of ads.
https://rubenalamina.mx/the-division-weekly-vendor-reset/
I added a resources section with a map with 30+ locations to find the Snitch and a link to the datamined gear attribute sheet.
Cassie
Cassie is a gunrunner vendor that moves location every couple of days. To find her, you need to talk to Jared "The Snitch" Nash in one of the locations I have listed on my map. His location is random but it usually takes 2 or 3 location visits for him to spawn. After you talk to him, he will give you a bounty and Cassie will appear on your map with a shopping cart icon. You can do the bounty or save it for later, it's not necessary to browse Cassie's inventory.
She will open for 24 hours and will close to relocate for 32 hours. These are her open times:
- Sunday 8:00 PM EDT
- Wednesday 4:00 AM EDT
- Friday 12:00 PM EDT
Besides her random stock, Cassie will always sell two named items: the Shield Splinterer assault rifle and the Hunter-Killer chest. In order to see these two items, you need to have opened the ivory chest at the White House and the Off-white chest at Haven. You get keys for these chest by killing the hunters in DC and NYC.
Resources
Timers Website
A couple of members of The Division Community Discord made a site that shows all the in game timers in your local time zone. It also has the open and close timers for Cassie so you can use it to check if she's open or not before you go find the snitch. The site can be accessed here: https://divisiontimers.com
Wiki Page
The link for the current weekly thread and the vendor items list is always available in the Vendor Reset Page in the community resources. You can find it in the top navigation menu of the subreddit. If you're on mobile, it will be on the sidebar.
The Division 1 Reset
Some of the guys and girls in the vendors team are trying to keep The Division 1 vendor resets alive. The sheet will be automatically updated when they are done, even if they haven't posted their weekly thread. I will add an edit with the link to their weekly thread when they are ready. These reset happen on Friday nights at 7pm EST.
Credits
The resets are brought to you by a dedicated team of fellow agents from this subreddit and The Division Community Discord. Thanks to u/DizNootz, u/Google-1234, u/Hurinzor, u/Duke_Shambles. u/Insecurity_exe and other volunteer agents who have been constantly helping. Thanks to u/BestNadeThrower for starting the sheet we are using for The Division 2.

2023.06.07 00:09 oldguacomole I’m what order should I get these cards?
Fico 764, down from near 800 a year ago. Oldest credit card is 16 years. In the last few months I got an AAdvantage Platinum, and Chase IHG Premier. Last year I got a few other cards. I have 8 total. I travel for work and expense my hotel stays. We almost always stay at an IHG. I also travel for fun and am trying to maximize points I can use for trips as well as get lounge access and free checked bags. I’d like to get a VentureX as soon as possible for the lounges. I have an LLC I can use for getting business cards.
I’ve heard of various rules, like chase 5/24. I’ve also heard Capital One is very sensitive to recent new lines of credit and that other banks have their own quirks. I seem to be in approval jail right now for hard inquiries and recent new credit lines. Hopefully that will open back up in a month or two.
These are the cards I want to get in the next couple years, the C1 cards and the airline cards would be my higher priority: - C1 Savor - Delta Plat - C1 Venture X - United explorer - SW Rapid - IHG Traveler - Hilton Amex - Hyatt, world of - Marriott Boundless
What is the best order to get these to stay in good grace with these credit unions and not get locked out of anything?

- I’m scared of coasters! How can I conquer my fear?
While all questions are welcome here remember that we do have a search feature which may be helpful for common questions. For example, we've gotten the coaster fear one a lot so there are a ton of past threads to peruse for tips.
Remember to check back on these threads to answer questions and offer advice; they're a success due to engagement from our awesome community!
Resources: RCDB: The roller coaster database. Contains info on any permanently installed coaster or park in the world, past or present.

2023.06.06 23:19 eldestdaughtersunion How do fundie homeschoolers end up at Harvard? A case study of Baylor University.
[This is adapted from a comment
here, but I thought it would make a good post.]
The quality of a fundie homeschool education is typically terrible. We all saw the ATI booklets in the docuseries. Some of us are intimately familiar with the quality of ATI, ACE, Abeka, Bob Jones, etc. So how do these Joshua Generation kids end up at Harvard, clerking for Supreme Court justices - positions that are hard to get even for well-educated, upper-class people?
Because there's a system set up for them.
This was alluded to very briefly in the documentary, when the Christian Homeschool Speech and Debate League was brought up. But they didn't really explain what was going on. So I'm going to do my best to explain it. However, I wasn't actually raised in this community. I was raised adjacent to it. People who lived it, please correct me or elaborate.
Not all fundie homeschoolers
totally neglect their children's educations. Many fundies are first-generation converts who have real educations and successful careers outside the home. They may not be well-equipped to educate children, but they do understand what children need to know to succeed in the real world. Part of the reason the Duggar kids are so uneducated is that JB and Meech are also not well-educated. But that's not always the case. Some homeschool kids end up getting pretty rigorous educations, at least by fundie homeschool standards. Especially earlier-born boys. The Jeub family is a good example of a family that is like this. They're highly involved in homeschooling and homeschool speech and debate circles. They produce curriculum and run summer camps. Or at least, they did. Most of this seems to have been scrubbed from the internet, and the Jeubs now run a "glamping" business and don't about Christian homeschooling or debate at all anymore.
Many homeschooling families don't stick strictly to one curriculum. They might use a primary one, but they'll supplement with others they feel are stronger in certain subjects or for certain age groups. One thing they often supplement with, and that is emphasized in some curriculums, is a "classical education." This is an education that emphasizes grammar, logic, and rhetoric. It usually uses classical literature, philosophy, and theology to support this education. Math and science are not emphasized. In a classical education, math focuses on arithmetic, algebra, and geometry. Science is usually limited to the history and philosophy of science, rather than scientific concepts themselves. You might learn about Isaac Newton, you might even read his writings, but you're not actually gonna learn physics or calculus the way you would in a typical education. History is often not explicitly taught, with the justification that the curriculum itself
is a historical education.
This emphasis on rhetoric and logic - always contextualized within a Christian philosophy and theology - is where you get Christian homeschool speech and debate. It's very similar to public school speech and debate.
Here is the NCFCA's resolutions for LD and Policy debate this year. At a glance, these seem like normal topics. The LD resolution seems pretty typical. You can see where that emphasis on a classical education comes in, but that's not unusual in LD. What sticks out to me are the recommended resources under the policy resolution. They're almost all right-wing think tanks. The other thing that sticks out to me is that they just hand you everything. Topicality, background, relevant sources, and arguments. Even when they're pretending to be promoting logic and reasoning, they're telling you how to think. Think critically - but only within these narrow confines.
The kids who participate in this kind of thing are college-bound. And there are colleges set up to receive them. One such college is Baylor University in Texas. Baylor University is a private Baptist university. It is a "real" college, an R1 research school, and a fairly prestigious one. It is very welcoming to Christian homeschoolers. They have pages on their website guiding homeschooling parents through the process of application, including providing a "transcript" template. (
Their example of a completed transcript includes an "apologetics" credit.) They accept the Classical Learning Test in lieu of the SAT or ACT. The CLT is a standardized test based on a classical education, described above.
Here's an example test. If you ever took the SAT or ACT, you might notice that this looks a lot easier.
Baylor University caters heavily to this demographic.
Their core curriculum includes chapel requirements and courses on theology and scripture, but notably does not include math or hard sciences. They have a "formal reasoning" requirement that can be fulfilled with an Intro to Logic class. It can also be fulfilled with a broad-review "
theory of math" class that focuses on mathematical concepts for politics and business, like "the mathematics of elections," population growth models, and compound interest. Their "scientific method" requirement does require science classes, but there's no requirement for hard sciences like physics, chemistry, or biology. You can fulfill it with classes like "Exploring Environmental Issues" or "Earthquakes and Other Natural Disasters." (By the way, that "earthquakes" class is also offered at most public universities in Texas, where it is famously a blow-off class. It's basically just a NatGeo documentary about earthquakes and volcanos stretched across a semester.)
Baylor is a legitimately good school. It is a top choice of school for students interested in going into law. They have a nationally competitive policy debate team, a huge and highly supportive pre-law program, and their own law school with a direct-feeder program. Baylor pre-law students often end up at prestigious law schools, including Harvard and Yale. They also have a large network of highly involved, highly successful alumni.
Check out their list of notable alumni on Wikipedia and notice just how long the "politics" section is.
If you are a Christian homeschooler looking to move into the world of law and government, Baylor is gonna give you that opportunity. They will give you the prestigious education necessary to move into that world without ever challenging your religious beliefs or setting you up to fail because your Baptist homeschool education never actually taught you how to do fractions.
I'm using Baylor as an example here because I know it best. There are quite a few universities like this. Wheaton, mentioned in the documentary, is one of them. I'm also using Baylor as an example because it's one of the biggest and most mainstream. You can't throw a rock in Texas without hitting a Baylor graduate. Plenty of normal people, even people who aren't religious, attend Baylor for the quality of the education. Baylor can be a gateway from the insular world of fundie homeschool into the real world.
Baylor is not an option for a lot of fundie homeschoolers. You are probably not gonna survive at Baylor - or even get into Baylor - if your only education was ATI wisdom booklets. (It also has exorbitantly expensive tuition.) But this is a viable way to get slingshotted into the halls of power with nothing but a fundamentalist homeschool education and a Christofascist political agenda.

2023.06.06 23:00 mystery913 Expedia-Flight with Redeemed Credit More Expensive?
Hello everyone,
My question is: Is booking a flight with credit more expensive than just booking a normal flight? Cause that is what Expedia just did.
Background: I booked a domestic US trip last year that I had to cancel-not at the last minute, and got delta airline credit in return (first mistake I know). So now I booked a flight using that credit ($337) and had to pay an additional $40 for that ticket. But I also had to get a ticket for an additional person and the ticket price was about $80 less. I checked Expedia prices and the price was also lower than the $377 I had to pay for my redeemed ticket.
The person I chatted with said (copied and pasted-can't load a picture at the moment):
"Here is the thing. Airlines offer different rates and availabilities for new booking and for flight credit redemption. That's why there are different rates when you look at the booking on the website as a new booking compare on the rates when you are redeeming a credit."
I'm having a hard time believing this, but is this something that happens?

2023.06.06 20:55 Strict_Ad3328 Rejected for every credit card I’ve applied for… because I don’t have a credit card? ELI5
I had a credit card with BoA for 6 years. When I applied, I was a college student with no steady employment and no credit history, and yet they couldn’t get a card in my hands fast enough. They even dissuaded me from cancelling it once (long story). It had a low credit limit and I never ever missed a payment, which was apparently enough to put my credit score in the high 600s and keep it there.
Two years I left BoA for a local credit union. Life was busy so I opened a checking account and got a debit card but never messed with a credit card. But everyone was always saying it was important to have a credit card for the cash back, for online security, etc.
So I applied for a cash back card with my local grocery chain. Denied due to lack of credit references.
But I figured I could easily get a simple card with my bank like I had 8 years ago, right? Denied due to lack of credit history. And this time I got a nice ding to my credit score.
I’ve had several people, even the bank supervisor, recommend a discover card to me. But am I just going to be denied again? Why does a 24 month (probably less) gap on my history mean I have “no credit history” at all? Have institutions just become more cautious since 2015? Can someone explain this to me like I’m five years old?

2023.06.06 20:12 overdev READ FIRST - FAQ + Workarounds for issues
1. General questions
1.1 What is Enderal? Enderal is a total conversion for TES V: Skyrim and TES V: Skyrim Special Edition: a free game based on Skyrim's engine. It features a new game world, complete with different regions and dungeons and its own lore and story. It offers an immersive open world, all for the player to explore, overhauled skill systems and gameplay mechanics and a dark, psychological storyline with multi-faceted and believable characters. You can check out some details and background info about Enderal and its predecessors on our website:
https://sureai.net/.
Enderal was previously released in 2016 but was re-released on Steam.
1.2 Where is Enderal available? Enderal has its own Steam store page and is available right now for everyone owning Skyrim on Steam and GOG. There are two versions of Enderal on Steam.
The normal Enderal game for the original Skyrim Legendary Edition:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/933480/Enderal_Forgotten_Stories The Enderal Special Edition which was developed for the Skyrim Special Edition:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/976620/Enderal_Forgotten_Stories_Special_Edition Enderal Special Edition on GOG:
https://www.gog.com/game/enderal_forgotten_stories
Steam allows for a lot of cool features: - Easy and fast download, install and update directly via Steam (the respective version of Skyrim needs to be owned on Steam) - Enderal has its own game and save game directory as well as its own .ini files - no more shared files with your original Skyrim installation - Steam Cloud for save games - Build-in optimization tools and other stability fixes - Steam achievements for Enderal
Localizations for other languages will be available as soon as the localization teams finished their work. At the moment Enderal is available in English and German (both dubbed and subbed) and only subbed in French, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, Italian and Korean. Other versions will be added later.
Enderal's Steam version does not only include the base Enderal but also the "Forgotten Stories" DLC.
1.3 What is Forgotten Stories? Forgotten Stories is a free DLC/Add-On/Expansion pack for Enderal that adds content cut from the initial release version.
Furthermore it also adds a new, hidden ending and new classes built around crafting rather than combat skills.
Make sure to read through the announcement in our forums:
https://forum.sureai.net/viewtopic.php?f=136&t=11821
1.4 Is Enderal moddable as Skyrim is? / Will my mod setup for Skyrim work with Enderal? In terms of texture improvements, Enderal is already heavily modded from the get-go. It also already comes with SkyUI, SKSE and many more mods, so check out the credits.txt in the game folder for a full list. Enderal also alters a lot of Skyrim's gameplay mechanics and even introduces new features.
Every mod that is specifically designed to alter an existing Skyrim record in the master file won't work most likely.
The two versions of Enderal has its own nexusmods game pages.
Enderal on Nexusmods:
https://www.nexusmods.com/enderal Enderal Special Edition on Nexusmods:
https://www.nexusmods.com/enderalspecialedition As well as spreadsheets with compatible mods made by fans.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ziXrzqQ\_l6ShsTTLT44RvpEQfpT2Y2Xkuhlf5lF3F2A Make sure to take a look at the different tabs at the bottom.
Still, a little warning: these mods might not be updated to the newest version of Enderal, be careful and read the descriptions!
1.5 Does the Anniversary Edition affect Enderal? No, it does not. Enderals files are completly seperate and are not pulled from Skyrim.
1.6 Am I able to play the Enderal Special Edition with saves from the non-Special Edition version? No, you would have to start a new playthrough.
1.7. Am I allowed to use assets that have been used in Enderal for my own mods? Do I need your permission? We can't give a general answer to these questions because not every asset was created by us but some were borrowed from other Skyrim mods or were bought from external sources.
Please write us a direct message about the asset you want to use, so we can either grant or deny permission.
1.8. Does SureAI have other Social Media accounts? Yes, we do have some: - Facebook:

2. Fixes for technical issues
2.1 The game doesn’t start. Do one of these steps and then check if it works in-game, if not do the next step.
2.1.1 Start the Enderal Launcher always with admin permissions. A guide on how to do that (Method 2):
https://www.top-password.com/blog/make-your-program-always-run-as-administrato It can be that your antivirus software is blocking parts of the launcher or skse. Windows Defender is known for causing issues with Enderal.
2.1.2 Put the Enderal Launcher.exe and skse_loader.exe / skse64_loader.exe (depends if you are using the Special Edition version) on the exception list of your antivirus program.
2.1.3 Verify Integrity of Game Files. Here is a helpful guide for that:
https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/0C48-FCBD-DA71-93EB 2.1.4 If the game is installed in a subfolder of “Program Files” / “Program Files (x86)” then please move it to another folder, either on the same drive outside of the Program Files directory or on a different drive. A Steam guide how to easily move games:
https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/4BD4-4528-6B2E-8327#move 2.2 The main menu has the Skyrim background and the game crashes when I click on “New”. The Enderal Launcher can’t properly create the ini files.
Follow point 2.1.1, 2.1.2 and 2.1.4, afterwards delete the Enderal.ini and EnderalPrefs.ini file in the folder “Documents\My Games\Enderal Special Edition” (Special Edition).
2.3 I have a bug, what should I do? first disable all your mods and check if that was the issue.
if that does not help try to solve it by restarting the game and reloading an earlier save before the bug. the best thing would be to load a prior one before you entered a building for example. that fixes most of the "NPCs don't talk to me/don't continue the quest" issues.
You still encounter the bug without any mods? Then please report it either on this Discord server:
https://discord.gg/s9H925auNN please send us your currently bugged savegame, you can find these in the folder “Documents\My Games\Enderal” (non-Special Edition) and “Documents\My Games\Enderal Special Edition” (Special Edition).
we would need two files, the .ess and .skse file with the same name. If your currently bugged savegame is the latest one, just sort the files by date.
For the forum, please pack the files as a .zip or .rar file to be able to upload both of them.
2.4 The game constantly crashes You can install this mod that creates helpful crash logs:
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/21294 After the installation, recreate the crash and a log will be created in the folder “Enderal Special Edition/Data/NetScriptFramework/Crash”, you can send us this log. Read 2.3 on how to report bugs/crashes.
2.5 My FPS are constantly dropping There are a few places in Enderal in which the FPS drop like in front of Ark or at the Myrad Tower of the Western Cliff.
If you have FPS issues almost everywhere I would recommend to do point 2.4 and also decrease the Shadow, NPC and Object draw distance in the Visibility settings of the launcher (the shadow settings should have the most impact).
2.6 Do I have to install Skyrim in order to play Enderal? No, you only need to own the specific version of Skyrim on your Steam account.
2.7 Will the game alter my Skyrim files? No, Enderal has its own game and MyGames folder for the configuration and save files. None of the Skyrim files will be affected.
2.8 I can't see any of the video sequences. Switch to the other windowed mode, if your game runs on Fullscreen then change it to the Borderless Windowed Mode in the launcher or vice versa.
2.9 The launcher doesn’t change the window/fullscreen mode. SSE Display Tweaks override the window settings of the launcher. Either disable SSE Display Tweaks in the launcher settings (this will lock the FPS to 60 and disable some fixes for the screen) or keep it enabled and edit the SSEDisplayTweaks.ini in the folder “Enderal Special Edition\Data\SKSE\Plugins”
open it with a text editor and search for “Fullscreen=” (without the quotes), if there is a “#” in front of it, remove it, set it to false to enable the windowed mode and to true for the fullscreen mode, either “Fullscreen=false” or “Fullscreen=true”.
if you want to disable the Borderless Windowed mode and play the game in a smaller window look for “Borderless=” (should be below the other one), also remove the “#” and set it to true for Borderless Windowed Mode or to false for a small window that you can move. “Borderless=true” or “Borderless=false” for example.
2.10 The interface doesn’t fit on my ultrawide 21:9 / 32:9 monitor please use this mod and type the resolution of your monitor into the Resolution field in the launcher settings. It works both for the non-Special Edition and Special Edition of Enderal. A mod manager is recommended to install the right version.
https://www.nexusmods.com/enderal/mods/14 for 32:9 monitors there is a custom version of this mod:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1K8EoCssR8zK0SyUBSwe0ReerFB8vsC6A/view?usp=sharing
2.11 How can I change the FPS limit? For that change the line FramerateLimit=90 to something like FramerateLimit=60 in the file SSEDisplayTweaks.ini which you can find in the folder "Enderal Special Edition\Data\SKSE\Plugins".
2.12 Does the game work in VR? There is a community project that developed a version for Skyrim VR:
https://www.nexusmods.com/enderalspecialedition/mods/8
2.13 What included mods does the game have? There are a lot of built-in mods. If you want to know exactly which these are, open the credits.txt in the Enderal Special Edition folder. Under "used resources'' you can find them.
