2023.05.28 13:48 Cryhavok101 Yet Another Pile of My Bad Decisions - Vulcan Theme Build

The theme of this build is to bring out the feel of a Vulcan Command Fleet ship. From what I could tell, they used sci ships as the workhorses of their fleet, the traditional place of cruisers. So I wanted to basically use one of the vulcan themed sci ships in as cruiser-like a role as I could get it... while still acting like a sci ship.
I decided that that was going to involve drawing aggro, and handling having that aggro. I hesitate to label this a tank, because I have no intention of actually running any content with it that actually needs a tank. I don't usually inflict my theme builds on groups attempting elite content. So this is more of a "keep the PUG alive" style of tank, than anything you'd ever find in a DPS race HSE run.
Essentially this is a plasma-based DEWsci ship, with a threat and survival theme. The build makes quite a few off-meta choices, like the decision to use embassy sci consoles for their threat generating abilities, rather than the more traditional research station consoles that could boost my exotic and ctrlx stats much better.
Highly Specialized and the Research Lab Scientist Doffs help mitigate the lack of stat-boosting consoles. And Precision Multitargetting does a lot better than I thought it would at making up for the small number of Tac boff slots, by letting me use the subsystem targeting abilities native to all sci ships in order to have access to FAW while using my tac slots for other things.
Overall it's not perfect by any means, and has plenty of room for improvement, even keeping to my theme. Especially in the personal traits, where eventually I would like to add Boilmer to improve the cooldown situation. Inspiring Leadership and psychological warfare to further improve the ship's epg and ctrlx stats. Menacing and Enlightened would be pretty perfect for the ship. And maybe Fulcrum Shift, Fragment of AI Tech, and/or Cyclic Power Capacitors could all benefit this ship quite a lot more than what I have now.
I'm also planning on replacing the 3 fleet dranuur dual beam banks with something else. Right now I've got an internal debate on just normal [ctrd] focused ones or crafted [over] ones for fun. The dranur proc, like all procs, just doesn't do much, so despite being fine for the theme, I can replace it with something more interesting without feeling bad at all.

When you use any Battery, this trait causes all of your other power levels to gain a large subsystem boost.
Grace Under Fire  Space Trait. If you take more than 20% of your hitpoints in damage within a 5 second period, the cooldown on [[Ability: Miraculous Repairs
Operative  Increases Critical Chance and Critical Severity.

You may have up to 5 Digitizer Probes active at a time from this Trait. Enermies digitized by this Trait will not Warp Core Breach.
Emergency Weapon Cycle  - While this starship trait is active, using Emergency Power to Weapons will also reduce weapon power cost and increase your weapon fire rate moderately.
Highly Specialized  - Game Description: Make the most of your bridge officer specialists! 2023.05.28 13:30 paracletus__ Passed SAA-C03 on first attempt yesterday.

My Background
I've been working for about a year as Junior Full Stack Developer in a small start-up. I've transitioned from another career after completing a four-month bootcamp and this is my first job in the Tech world.I use the MERN stack but our infrastructure is in AWS and I constantly interact with it via the SDK for JavaScript. Being a tiny company, you get to wear a lot of different hats: recently I had to devise a few small solutions using services like Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, SQS and EventBridge. It definitely helped me in answering some questions about decoupling and integrations.I also obtained the Cloud Practitioner cert little over a year ago, shortly before landing the job.
Study Materials
  1. Adrian Cantrill
    1. I first started by completing his Tech Fundamentals course (which is free). I strongly suggest you do the same, regardless of whether you have experience in IT or not. It filled some important gaps and opened a new world for me. It got me into looking into CompTIA certs and I actually managed to study and obtain my first CompTIA cert while preparing for the SAA-C03.
    2. I then dived into the SAA-C03 course and worked through it until I reached 100% completion. The course is long and in-depth, as it should be. I took notes and made flashcards as I went along - I mainly used Notion and Quizlet (although I have now switched back to Anki)
  2. Stéphane Maarek
  3. I could have progressed immediately to the Tutorials Dojo exams, but decided to complete Stéphane's course to consolidate certain concepts. Bought it on Udemy. The course is not massively long and I watched it at 1.5x or 2x speed most of the time. I also think it touches upon a few services that weren't mentioned previously, which was helpful.
  4. Jon Bonso's exams on Tutorials Dojo
    1. I wish I started doing these much earlier, but I only began about one or two weeks ago. I only had time to complete the six exams in the Timed Mode set. They were a massive help and allowed me find and fill so many gaps in my knowledge. They also mentioned some services that I had never heard before. I wouldn't have been able to pass the exam without them.
Process
As already mentioned, I went through the material taking notes and making flashcards. As I work full time, I studied early mornings and late evenings and also dedicated most weekends to it. I took a few breaks in between, so as not to burnout. I started at some point in late February-early March, so the whole process took around three months.
Exam
I took the exam at a test centre. The questions set I got revolved mostly around stuff VPC, SQS, S3, DynamoDB, Aurora, RDS, EBS, Storage Gateway, DataSync, NAT Gateway, Egress-Only Gateway etc. I didn't get anything too "obscure".My standard approach to exams is:
  1. "Quickly" go through the questions and answer the most obvious ones. Flag all the other ones for review.
  2. Go through the flagged ones, reading them more than once if necessary, scan carefully for keywords which should help you boil it down to the one right answer. Occasionally, you will be left with two likely answers. If you don't feel confident, pick one anyway and do not unflag the question.
  3. Do a final round of all the questions you left unflagged. At this point, if you still can't pick one with confidence, choose randomly as you still have a 50/50 chance of getting it right.
  4. Should you still have time and mental stamina left, do a quick final review of all the answers before submitting the exam.
I was able to obtain an additional 30 minutes accommodation due to English not being my first language, but by the time I had completed point 3 I was completely fried and just wanted to get it over with. I submitted the exam with about 29 minutes left.
The result came through after about 24 hours, to my great relief.
General considerations in no particular order
I can't think of anything else right now, but if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Ultimate, thanks to everyone on this thread for the motivation and knowledge shared. Let's go get this.

2023.05.28 12:35 teamcrazymatt Defending the Draft 2023: New England Patriots

No one can ever predict a Bill Belichick draft.
When people start assuming he’ll act based on his stereotypes (first-round trade down, OL early, no early WRs, all Alabama players or small school guys or guys from Rutgers), he’ll do the opposite. When the consensus is that he’ll shift away from those stereotypes, he’ll lean right into them.
So in observing mock drafts, both full and team-centric, there was a lot of accord that he would follow those stereotypes. (Adam Korsak, both a punter and from Rutgers, was EVERYWHERE.)
But then the end of April came.
Before then, New England had suffered a 2022 season full of embarrassment, from Matt Patricia and Joe Judge’s ineptitude at running the offense to a team that seemed to find new ways to lose in humiliating fashion (a certain ill-fated lateral sequence peak among them). The Patriots went from their dynastic reign as a team which would trounce their opponents in laughers to the team that everyone pointed and laughed at. Mac Jones’ Patricia- and Judge-sparked regression along with impressive cameo appearances by ‘22 rookie Bailey Zappe split the fanbase into Mac and Zappe camps, with sports media fueling the flame by spreading or outright fabricating rumors of Belichick shopping Mac, rumors which lasted through the first day of the draft. It was an ugly season and an uglier start to the offseason.
The franchise clearly needed to make changes in 2023, and changes started near the top. Patricia and Judge lost their roles, the former joining the Eagles coaching staff and the latter moving to lead special teams, a necessary move as this Belichick-led squad had plummeted to the lowest-ranked third unit. (More on that later.) Patricia had filled the dual roles of de facto offensive coordinator and facto offensive line coach, and filled both roles with the acumen of me designing plays in Backyard Football 2002, except I could actually design plays that resulted in touchdowns. Judge had manned the quarterbacks room, and given that Daniel Jones finally broke out for the Giants once Judge had been booted from mentoring him, you can guess how that went for Mac and the Pats. In his new role in charge of special teams, he has already cost the team two OTAs and Bill Belichick $50,000 for an offseason meetings violation, and has elevated his 2022 title of Co-Most Hated Man in Foxboro to Single Most Hated Man in Foxboro.
Anyway, New England needed to fill their old roles, and brought in:
Bill O’Brien, Offensive Coordinator / Quarterbacks Coach A long-time friend of Belichick’s, O’Brien returns for his second stint as Pats OC, having dictated the offense in Rob Gronkowski’s record-setting 2011 season. Additionally, O’Brien comes by way of running the offense and the QB room at the University of Alabama, which spawned Mac Jones. Mac regressed in 2022 after an impressive 2021, but recall that 2022 was under the abysmal leadership of Patricia (calling his plays) and Judge (his direct coach), a situation in which no one could develop. By bringing in his old OC and QB coach, Mac has been put in the best possible position to develop in ‘23, a position which will much more clearly give fans a vision of his future as an NFL quarterback. (And the playcalling will be legitimate! It’s been but a year and we have already forgotten what creativity, route concepts, and misdirection have looked like!)
Adrian Klemm, Offensive Line Coach Belichick’s first draft pick after taking the helm in New England in 2000, Klemm has joined the team after coaching at Oregon last year. He comes with a strong reputation at that coaching position, having headed a Ducks O-line that allowed just five sacks in 2022. Last season, the Patriots saw a regression from their veterans on the line, most notably in Trent Brown’s newfound flag-happiness, and first-round rookie guard Cole Strange put forth a mixed performance. Bringing in an actual offensive line coach gives the team the best chance to fix any issues that showed in ‘22 and to develop their young linemen.
Of course, coaching was not the only issue last season, as New England was criticized for their lack of talent on the roster. Of New England’s high-cash free agent class of 2021, only edge rusher Matthew Judon shined in both his seasons in Foxboro: neither tight end Jonnu Smith nor wideout Nelson Agholor ever got off the ground, tight end Hunter Henry regressed after a solid ‘21, and wideout Kendrick Bourne found himself suddenly in Patricia’s doghouse and off the field. Moves needed to be made as the calendar turned to free agency.
Notable Departures
S Devin McCourty (retired) The most prominent departure from the ‘22 squad, McCourty is one of many who can be termed a quintessential Patriot. A first-round cornerback out of Rutgers in 2010, D-Mac made the switch to safety in 2012 and locked down the position for the next decade. When he was on the verge of leaving the team in free agency in 2015, even reaching out to Belichick to say goodbye, Belichick signed him to a top-valued safety contract and kept him in red, white, and blue. His leadership and personality made him a joy to watch on the field and off, his personality showing itself especially well recently through interactions with his twin brother Jason, who played alongside him for the Patriots from 2018 to ‘20. Statistically, D-Mac ends his career with 35 interceptions, one shy of the franchise record, and 4 touchdowns (two picks, a kickoff return, and a blocked field goal return). We miss him already.
P Jake Bailey (released; signed with Miami) What a drop. After an All-Pro season in 2020, Bailey signed a four-year extension in 2022 only to become the worst statistical punter in the league. After he was injured, the Patriots brought in Michael Palardy, who managed to be even worse (personally, I blame the team’s curse that comes with the jersey number 17). Neither punter remains with the team, Bailey joining an AFC East rival in the Dolphins and Palardy currently unsigned.
TE Jonnu Smith (traded to Atlanta) There is a strong case to be made that Smith is the worst free agency signing Belichick has made as Pats GM. In the two years since inking a 4-year, $50 million deal, Smith totaled just 55 catches for 539 yards and one touchdown, and a ‘22 restructure of his contract meant that Smith appeared to be a monetary albatross the Patriots would not be able to shake loose. What led to Atlanta agreeing to take on his whole contract, sending New England a seventh-round pick to get the player, I have no idea, but I think every Pats fan would agree that Smith didn’t work out in the least and a change was best for all sides.
WR Jakobi Meyers (signed with Las Vegas) Meyers’ departure was somewhat shocking, as the 2019 UDFA had worked his way up to the top of the Patriots’ wide receiver depth chart. More of a big slot guy than an outside #1, Meyers had a minor role in his rookie season and started 2020 at the bottom of the depth chart, but injuries to the players above him got him onto the field, and a 12-catch, 169-yard performance against the Jets that November meant he wasn’t leaving it anytime soon. While not possessing top-tier speed or explosiveness, Meyers was the team’s best route runner and separator, and his departure left another void that needed to be filled.
QB Brian Hoyer (released, signed with Las Vegas) Hoyer was third on the depth chart, Zappe having shown enough to take the #2 spot. While a fine veteran mentor, the Patriots chose to go a different direction with that third QB role.
WR Nelson Agholor (signed with Baltimore) Agholor was given a two-year contract in 2021 with the anticipation of his being the #1 receiver, something which did not happen due to his unreliable hands and separation abilities. For those two years and $22 million, Agholor produced 68 catches, 835 yards, and five touchdowns. Not worth it.
RB Damien Harris (signed with Buffalo) By far the most productive member of the Patriots’ atrocious 2019 draft class, Harris was good in New England but had been passed on the depth chart by sophomore Rhamondre Stevenson midway through 2022. Couple that with Belichick’s predilection to let running backs walk instead of giving them second contracts, sprinkle in a dash of two ‘22 draft picks (Pierre Strong Jr. and Kevin Harris) who will get more opportunities in 2023, top it off with the return of Ty Montgomery II from injured reserve, and it’s no surprise that Harris is no longer a Patriot.
T Isaiah Wynn (signed with Miami) Another former first-round pick, Wynn was all right as a left tackle though was criticized for frequent injury problems; with his fifth-year option picked up for ‘22, he was inexplicably switched to right tackle, where he was very bad. He never really earned the role of franchise tackle, so it was expected that the Patriots would let him walk.
But on the upside, the team now has:
Additions
WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (via Kansas City) After Meyers signed with the Raiders, the Patriots worked quickly to bring in his replacement in the slot. Smith-Schuster revived his career in Kansas City and is now in position to be a primary target for Mac for the next three seasons, possessing more explosiveness and speed than his predecessor. The biggest concern with JuJu is his durability, but I believe the Patriots have made preparations in the draft (spoiler) in case that becomes a significant problem. The fanbase is excited for Smith-Schuster on the field in Foxboro, and deservedly so.
RB James Robinson (via New York (the green side)) A one-time breakout UDFA in Jacksonville, Robinson’s role diminished with the rise of Travis Etienne Jr.; after being traded to the Jets, Robinson never got settled into a role. In New England, Robinson is likely first in line for the #2 RB spot behind Stevenson, an important role given that Stevenson’s overwork saw his productivity decline as last season came to an end. Robinson also possesses the pass-catching versatility that Belichick loves, a role Harris was never used in but Stevenson is, further suggesting he can have a significant spot on the field for the Pats.
TE Mike Gesicki (via Miami) As Smith never worked out as the co-#1 TE, here comes Gesicki. A pure pass catcher at the position, Gesicki has the size and hands to be a reliable target in the red zone, and should pair nicely with Henry for a potential TE-heavy formation as the team approaches the goal line.
T Riley Reiff (via Chicago) T Calvin Anderson (via Denver) While neither comes with the contract expectation of being a long-term solution at either tackle spot, the hope is that Reiff (expected to start at RT) will be an upgrade over Wynn, while Anderson serves as a reliable swing tackle who can start if needed.
LB Chris Board Jr. (via Detroit) Remember that awful special teams unit? Board is one of the NFL’s top special teamers, a player Belichick singled out when New England faced the Lions last year. It’s unsurprising he brought in such a veteran to help solidify the unit after… just all of last year.
QB Trace McSorley (via Arizona) By bringing in McSorley in Hoyer’s stead, the team is showing a bit of a shift in philosophy with how it is using its backup QB spots. Both Mac and Zappe are pocket passers; McSorley does most of his work outside the pocket and can run with regularity, a trend more common among top-level quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. At minimum, he’s worth a camp spot, and that’s fine.
P Corliss Waitman (via Denver) Following the implosion of Bailey and Palardy at punter, the Patriots were on the verge of entering the draft with none on the roster. Waitman is a veteran addition there, but pretty much everyone expected New England to add a punter either as a draft pick or UDFA. (Another spoiler – my bad.)
After this free agency, many saw the Patriots as still having holes at the top of their depth chart at wideout, tackle, and cornerback. Tight end was also considered a need as New England, despite adding Gesicki to pair with Henry, does not have a tight end signed beyond 2023, entering the draft with only Matt Sokol and Scotty Washington behind their name duo.
Then they went on the clock, entering the draft with:
1-14 2-46 3-76 4-107 4-117 4-135 6-184 6-187 6-192 6-210 7-245
Here’s how it all went down.
Draft Picks
TRADE: 1-14 to PIT for 1-17 and 4-120 Although this trade was criticized for receiving too little back from Pittsburgh, it was not a major loss in capital according to the Rich Hill value chart (325 points to PIT, 320 to NE), and it came with enough high-level talent on the board that the Patriots were sure to get one of their targets. The way the board fell, fans most wanted Christian Gonzalez, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Zay Flowers, or Broderick Jones; when the Steelers took Jones, it became clear that the Patriots were not interested in him (reports came out that the Patriots had not been interested in Jones at all due to coachability concerns), but they were sure to land an exciting player after moving down only three spots rather than the seven-plus many mockers had predicted. Additionally, the Steelers landing Jones appeared to knock the Jets’ war room for a loop (though later video has shown that the Jets were expecting the trade), and the only thing New England fans love more than a victory is an opportunity to screw over the Jets.
1-17: Christian Gonzalez, CB, Oregon The Patriots’ selection of Gonzalez received universal acclaim, and it’s easy to see why. Despite having strong CB depth, the Patriots lacked a true #1 corner; Gonzalez has the ability, length, and athleticism to be that from Day One. The first-round pick via Colorado and Oregon was widely projected as a top-10 selection, so for New England to land him at 17 is a tremendous coup. From his interviews and his play style, Gonzalez seems like a quiet guy off the field who wants to shut the opponent down when on the turf. He’ll be fun to watch.
2-46: Keion White, ED, Georgia Tech White is another player falling under the new Patriots draft umbrella under Belichick and Matt Groh: as athletic as can be. While he is raw, White has the athleticism to play three downs along the defensive line and the versatility to move inside when the situation calls for it. The Patriots thought so highly of him that he was a player they were considering drafting in the first round, even considering a move back into the last picks of the round to snag him, but landed him at 46 anyway. How much he will play as a rookie is uncertain as New England has a very good edge duo in Matthew Judon and Josh Uche, but even if White has to take a year to get acclimated to the NFL, that’s not unheard of in Foxboro and has produced success for highly-touted picks: neither Nate Solder (first round) nor Trey Flowers (fourth round) took on long-term starting roles as rookies (though Solder filled in at right tackle plenty), but were established starters in their second years. Similarly, Uche (second round) started off as an occasionally-used part of a pass rushing rotation before hitting double-digit sacks last year, his third season in the league. And if White earns significant playing time in 2023, all the better.
3-76: Marte Mapu, LB, Sacramento State* Here’s that small-school selection that detractors tend to point at regarding Belichick, but Mapu has elite potential. I got tipped off to Mapu late in the pre-draft cycle, and watching film of him I was reminded a lot of Kyle Dugger, another small-school Day 2 player who has turned into an excellent Patriot. Mapu is going to play linebacker, likely his best position, and fill the role of coverage ‘backer that New England has lacked for several seasons. He’s also athletic and scheme-versatile, having spent time at safety and linebacker while at Sacramento State, so he will be able to move around the defensive formation if the situation calls for it. Add to that his tackling, his closing speed, and his containment, and you’ve got yourself a potential stud.
4-107: Jake Andrews, C, Troy The Patriots need their future long-term center with David Andrews now 31 and having an injury history, and Jake Andrews (unrelated) is set up perfectly to be that guy. Andrews the Younger is built in the same mold as Andrews the Elder: both exited college as smaller in stature than other centers but able to get a push on defensive linemen from below, meaning Jake can easily learn specific bits of technique from David. While not expected to play the role immediately, [anagram: Ned Was a Jerk] is now in position to spend time behind [anagram: Swan Diver Dad], preparing himself to take over at center in the near future.
TRADE: 4-120 and 6-184 to NYJ for 4-112 4-112: Chad Ryland, K, Maryland This is not the first time Belichick has selected a kicker in the fourth round, selecting Stephen Gostkowski with pick 118 in 2006; with the Patriots in desperate need for a strong player at the position, moving up to make sure they could land him makes sense (especially with Jake Moody being selected by the 49ers at 3-99). And Ryland is what Nick Folk is not: a big-legged kicker with kickoff ability. Folk has been appreciated in New England for his accuracy, but his distance and accuracy notably declined in 2022, and when forced to kick off, his lack of touchback distance led to trouble, the Patriots surrendering a league-high three kick return touchdowns (including two in the season finale). It’s clear an upgrade at kicker was a requirement this offseason; with Moody gone, giving up a sixth to move up eight spots is absolutely fine. In doing so, New England has hopefully landed their kicker for the next decade.
4-117: Sidy Sow, G, Eastern Michigan At this point, it may be considered confusing for the Patriots to have drafted a left guard in Sow when last year’s first-round pick Cole Strange is entrenched there and Mike Onwenu mans right guard at an elite level, but Groh’s post-draft comments indicated the team would give Sow opportunities at left tackle as well. And not only does Sow have experience at left tackle, he has the size at 6’5” and 326 pounds. New England’s projected starting tackles are veterans Trent Brown and Riley Reiff, both of whom are over 30 and are in contract years; if Sow returns to the position, the former mauling EMU Eagle (heh, two birds) offensive lineman could ease the need at tackle for next offseason.
TRADE: 4-135 to LV for 5-144 and 6-214 5-144: Atonio Mafi, G, UCLA Another interior lineman? Yes. Mafi is a guard whom the Patriots worked with at the Shrine Bowl, and has the versatility to move between left and right guard. As the aforementioned Onwenu is in a contract year, Mafi has a clear path to a potential starting job in 2024, and the most important thing right now for the development of Mac Jones is keeping him upright. By selecting three offensive linemen – using a quarter of their 12 selections on the offensive trench – Belichick and Groh have signaled their intent to do just that. From all accounts, Mafi, who met with New England in a pre-draft visit, is thrilled to join the team; now it’s about proving it on the field.
6-187: Kayshon Boutte, WR, LSU Boutte is the epitome of a boom-or-bust prospect, his elite 2020 and ‘21 being overshadowed by a disappointing 2022 that dropped him from clear first-rounder to a middle-of-Day-3 selection. As a freshman and sophomore, Boutte looked to follow in the footsteps of highly-drafted LSU wideouts such as Odell Beckham Jr., Justin Jefferson, and JaMarr Chase, showing a complete package of agility, speed, and route running. Unfortunately, an injury plus conflicts with his new coach Brian Kelly led to underperformance, and a poor combine performance cemented his draft stock as having drastically fallen. But if he can get back to his earlier form, where his talent and athleticism led to a combined 83 receptions, 1244 yards, and 14 touchdowns in his first two college seasons, Boutte could become the steal of the draft.
6-192: Bryce Baringer, P, Michigan State While New England had signed Corliss Waitman so as to have a punter on the roster heading into the draft, none assumed he was the long-term answer; when the Patriots made Baringer the first punter taken in the 2023 draft, it became clear who was. A walk-on turned cut turned best punter in college football, Baringer has a booming leg that showed itself in an average punt length of 49.0 yards in ‘22; he also holds the Michigan State record for career punting average at 46.0 yards. As a bonus, he worked with Ryland at the Senior Bowl, so the two have already begun to develop chemistry in the holding game. As another bonus, he wore No. 99 in college, and that is awesome.
6-210: Demario Douglas, WR, Liberty When one imagines a typical Patriots slot receiver – small, shifty, and explosive with the ball in his hands – one might well be imagining Douglas. The five-foot-eight Liberty product can absolutely fly, moving all around the formation and catching balls at all levels of the field. New Englanders got a preview of what Douglas’ game might look like when rookie cornerback Marcus Jones began to take snaps on offense last year; Jones was often put in motion before the snap, worked out of the backfield, and assigned touches where his elusiveness was the spark to gain yards. Douglas has said he models his game after Jones, a claim that demonstrates itself when one views his collegiate tape. I had a third-round grade on Douglas, so the Patriots landing him at 210 is a thrill. (Even though the Giants took one of my draft crushes in Tre Hawkins III the pick before, for which I’m still irked.)
6-214: Ameer Speed, CB, Michigan State The unknown about Speed is whether he will develop on defense; that is not his skill at the moment. There are three things known: his size (6’3”, 210 lbs.), his speed (4.34s 40), and his special teams prowess. With longtime special teams captain Matthew Slater likely entering his last year, the Patriots need to develop a new crop of special teams standouts, long a hallmark of Belichick’s Patriots from the time of Larry Izzo. Last year’s UDFA Brenden Schooler looks like one of those players already; Speed will certainly be given every chance possible to be another.
7-245: Isaiah Bolden, CB, Jackson State More tall athletic cornerbacks! The only HBCU selection in the 2023 draft, Bolden is an incredible athlete who likely earned his way to a draft selection by lighting up his Pro Day. Though just a role player on defense, Bolden has developmental traits that any defensive coach would love, and has also been a top collegiate kick returner, leading all of college football in 2021 with a 36.9-yard average on kickoff returns. I don’t see the two late-round cornerback selections as “throw players on the field and see who sticks” à la the ill-fated dual tight end picks of Devin Asiasi and Dalton Keene in 2020’s third round, but selecting players who might have longer chances to succeed, but if they do succeed can truly shine.
Though Bolden was the last of the Patriots’ 2023 draft picks, that did not conclude their rookie class as the period of UDFA signings immediately began. The Patriots have had an undrafted rookie make the Week 1 roster every year since 2004; with just a four-man class this season, chances are slim. They’re not impossible – their only 2021 UDFA, kicker Quinn Nordin, made it – but they’re definitely slimmer. Here are the four who can continue that streak.
Undrafted Rookies
Malik Cunningham, QB, Louisville The most expensive ($200,000) and well-known of the quartet, Cunningham’s slight build and arm as a quarterback led to piles of speculation of his switching positions. However, he has started off his Patriots tenure as a quarterback in rookie minicamp, so he remains a quarterback until further notice. Throughout college, Cunningham’s most intriguing asset has been his supreme athleticism at the position, something which showed up in testing, and it remains to be seen how the Patriots will use that athleticism to help the team. (It may be a good while until outside sources get a look, as minicamp and OTAs have thus far been closed off to the media.)
Johnny Lumpkin, TE, Louisiana-Lafayette After foregoing using a selection on a tight end in a deep draft class (another Belichick trend), New England instead brought in Lumpkin, who projects as a blocking tight end in the NFL. This offsets the biggest negative, his age (he’ll be 26 to start the season), as the Patriots lack a true blocker at the position. Whether Lumpkin can take advantage of this path to a roster spot remains to be seen, but his road to making the team as an undrafted rookie seems easiest at the moment.
Jourdan Heilig, LB, Appalachian State Like Board and Speed, Heilig joins the Patriots as a special teams standout, playing minimal defense as a Mountaineer (three snaps in 2022) but standing out in college on the third unit (210 snaps in 2022). He’ll have a chance to follow in the path of Schooler as a UDFA who makes his mark as a core special teamer.
Justus Tavai, DL, San Diego State The middle of the Tavai brothers (older brother Jahlani is a Patriots linebacker, younger brother Jonah signed with Seattle as a UDFA), Justus played alongside Jonah on the Aztec defensive line in 2022. While Jonah put up eye-popping numbers with double-digit sacks, Justus was a steady contributor as well, putting up 3.5 sacks and intercepting a pass. Tavai is the ninth man on the Patriots’ defensive line right now, so he has a difficult path if he wants to make the team.
He’s not an undrafted rookie, but the Patriots have also brought in veteran free agent Anthony Firsker, TE to compete with Lumpkin, Sokol, and Washington for the third tight end spot, the roster spot opened with their losing reserve Raekwon McMillan, LB to a partially torn Achilles tendon.
Projected Offseason Depth Chart (italics = rookie, (in parentheses = exclusively or primarily a special teamer)) (Note: the Patriots assign temporary jersey numbers in the offseason starting with 50 based mainly on draft position.)
QB 10 Mac Jones 4 Bailey Zappe 19 Trace McSorley 64 Malik Cunningham
RB 38 Rhamondre Stevenson 3 James Robinson 14 Ty Montgomery II 35 Pierre Strong Jr. 36 Kevin Harris 42 J.J. Taylor
WR 1 DeVante Parker 7 JuJu Smith-Schuster 84 Kendrick Bourne 11 Tyquan Thornton 58 Kayshon Boutte 60 Demario Douglas 82 Tre Nixon (44 Raleigh Webb) (18 Matthew Slater)
TE 85 Hunter Henry 88 Mike Gesicki 86 Anthony Firsker 87 Matt Sokol 17 Scotty Washington 65 Johnny Lumpkin
T 77 Trent Brown 74 Riley Reiff 76 Calvin Anderson 75 Conor McDermott 64 Andrew Stueber
G 71 Mike Onwenu 69 Cole Strange 54 Sidy Sow 55 Atonio Mafi 63 Chasen Hines 62 Bill Murray
C 60 David Andrews 53 Jake Andrews 65 James Ferentz 66 Kody Russey
DL 90 Christian Barmore 92 Davon Godchaux 91 Deatrich Wise Jr. 93 Lawrence Guy Sr. 95 Daniel Ekuale 98 Carl Davis Jr. 96 Sam Roberts 70 Jeremiah Pharms Jr. 67 Justus Tavai
ED 9 Matthew Judon 55 Josh Uche 51 Keion White 58 Anfernee Jennings (97 DaMarcus Mitchell) 51 Ronnie Perkins
LB 8 Ja’Whaun Bentley 48 Jahlani Tavai 52 Marte Mapu 30 Mack Wilson Sr. (45 Chris Board Jr.) 43 Calvin Munson 59 Terez Hall 47 Olakunle Fatukasi (66 Jourdan Heilig)
CB 50 Christian Gonzalez 31 Jonathan Jones 13 Jack Jones 25 Marcus Jones 27 Myles Bryant (61 Ameer Speed) 63 Isaiah Bolden 37 Tae Hayes 26 Shaun Wade 34 Quandre Mosely 39 Rodney Randle Jr.
S 23 Kyle Dugger 5 Jabrill Peppers 2 Jalen Mills 21 Adrian Phillips 24 Joshuah Bledsoe (41 Brenden Schooler) (22 Cody Davis) 29 Brad Hawkins
K 62 Chad Ryland 6 Nick Folk
P 59 Bryce Baringer 15 Corliss Waitman
LS 49 Joe Cardona 46 Tucker Addington
Conclusion Is this a perfect Patriots team? No. There are still long-term holes at offensive tackle and tight end, and there is a question mark as to who can be that pass catcher whom defensive coordinators have to plan for, a player the team has lacked for several seasons.
But is this an exciting Patriots roster, a team who has a chance to exceed their middling projections and expectations, a team worth watching and cheering for? Absolutely. Belichick and company have stabilized the coaching staff; added explosive, athletic players at nearly every position; brought in a new crew of players to take over special teams; and begun their draft with three players who could not only start in the NFL but have the potential to star. I fully believe that this is not an 8-9 caliber team, even in an AFC East with three other teams that have added big name after big name.
As Bill Belichick might say, we’re on to 2023.
We’re on to victory.

2023.05.28 12:15 MisterEmbedded My Guide To Get Into Computer Programming

Intro

Hi, I'm AdityaRaj, I'm a 17 Year Old Who Loves Programming, And Here's My Guide To Get Into Computer Programming.
Programming Is Surprisingly Quite Easy Once You Understand Few Basic Stuff, Like Memory, CPU, What Is Actually Happening In The CPU, Etc Etc, "Crash Course: Computer Science" is a awesome series which taught me ALOT about computers, and believe me it will make your life easier.
i'm learning like you all too! and i would be more than glad if you point out any mistake as it will help everyone who's reading this.

What is Lower & High Level In Computers?

Well Lower & High Level Basically Signifies How Close Something Is To "Bare-Metal" Or How Close Something Is To What The Computers Understand Directly.
The More Lower Level The More That Thing Is Close To What Computers Understand. See Computers Are Literally Just Rocks Made To Do Some Stuff Repeatedly, They Are Like Your Kitty Who Doesn't Even Understands Basic Maths.
Computers Do 3 Things In Their Entire Life, They Fetch The Instruction They Have To Execute, They Decode The Instruction They Fetched & Then They Execute That Instruction, That's Literally All Your Computer Ever Does, But This Becomes Very Powerful Because Modern Computers Can Do Such Stuff Like 2400000000 Times Every Second, And Gaming Computers Can Do Such Stuff At Like 400,00,00,000 Times Every Second, That's Like 400 Crore Times Every Second.

What Operating System To Choose?

Programming doesn't really depend on Operating System, if you're on windows then it's fine, if you're on mac it's fine, if you're on linux that's perfect.
In my opinion Linux provides you the best environment to develop any kind of software, and it is the recommended OS for writing software.
that doesn't mean you should quit using your existing Operating System, but learning linux will help you alot, there are jobs that specifically hire people who are masters in Linux, not to mention the fact that basically anything can run linux with a HUGE Performance gain.
in starting i will say just use whatever you have but try to learn linux side by side too!

What Programming Language To Choose?

It's Very Important What Programming Language You Choose, It Will Kind Of Decide That What Field In Programming You Will Be Doing.
  • Python
For example i started with a Programming Language Called "Python", it's simple, very easy to read & understand, and overall easy for an beginner, but Python didn't get me far, with Python I mainly had Data Science Or Artificial Intelligence To Learn, Cause There's Not Really Any Other Thing To Do With Python Other Than Also Writing Small Scripts That Do A Particular Task.
  • JavaScript
I Later Switched To A Language Called "JavaScript", JavaScript Is Most Common In Web Development, The Websites You Visit, Most Of Them Have Their Logic Written In JavaScript.
JavaScript is comparatively harder than Python, but it's use cases have been just increasing and increasing, JavaScript code can run in your browser, basically 90% of the Reddit is basically just JavaScript code.
JavaScript can run directly in your computer using a runtime called NodeJS or Deno, the Discord Web App, Mobile & Desktop App Is Also Written In Mostly JavaScript.
Using JavaScript You Can Go Into Web Development, Mobile App Development, Desktop App Development.
  • C/C++/Assembly
Now I Actually Went Quite Alot Lower Level...
i learned C, C is a programming language that's 51 years old! basically it was a "revolutionary" language, almost everything you see in the modern world has it's roots to C.
you can basically do anything with C, and this is the language i love alot... people say it's not for beginners but it's not the case really, if you understand how computers work, like even an overview then you won't have much problems in C.
with C you have endless possibilities and not to mention it's one of the fastest programming languages out there. if you want to write efficient, fast software use C.
C++ is also a language which was developed to extend C's capabilities by adding more feature, and C & C++ are often used in the same projects...
Linux Kernel is written in C, your favorite web browser is written in C & C++, Android Phone's App Use Java Which Has It's Roots To C.
In Many Cases C is Also Used With Assembly, assembly is basically a Human readable version of the ACTUAL code that runs on your computers, so it's like the lowest level programming language and FASTEST too.
C++ is used alot in Game Development, games made in Unreal Engine use C++, GTA Vice City was written in C++ too!
  • Swift
swift is a high-level programming language developed by Apple and used for developing software for Apple Products, it's a nice language, and the demand is high too! i can't comment much on the language as i don't have much experience with it, but if you own a Mac, i think Swift is the best thing to get into.
  • Java
Java is a high-level programming language which runs on more than 1 billion devices, all android phones have it, minecraft uses it. Java is used to develop android apps and it's not that hard as people say it is.
  • C#
C# is a high-level programming language, this language is often called "Microsoft Java" because this language does everything Java can do maybe a few things more, but all with Microsoft's branding.
no matter how much people may hate or bully this language, this language is very popular among Windows Developers as Microsoft recommends this language to develop Windows Applications.
C# is also used in Game Development, Mainly In Game Engines Like Unity & Godot.
  • Verilog, SystemVerilog or VHDL
these "programming languages" are used to program FPGAs.
FPGA's are one of the amazing stuff in technology. FPGAs are quite complex piece of hardware which you can use to design custom logic circuits.
basically our CPUs are made up of many MANY logic ciruits, these logic circuits determine the behavior of a particular CPU, you can basically create such logic circuits without having to touch a wire, you can program a FPGA to behave that way.
and as complex it sounds, sometimes it's quite more complex than that and requires alot of knowledge about how computers work and what you want the circuit to do.

What Career For What Language?

  1. The salaries mentioned are per-annum (yearly) and not monthly
  2. The salaries are what i found online, they may vary.
  3. The salaries mentioned is what offered in USA, and sadly they are quite low in India. (thanks to u/Accomplished-Toe-479 for mentioning this)
  • Embedded Systems
with C & Assembly Under your belt, and an awesome understanding of computers, you can get into a embedded systems job.
this field specializes in writing and optimizing software for computers that aren't your normal PC, Mobile Or Something, these are often very low-powerful computers that are used in stuff like your:
  • Digital Camera all those DSLRS and Stuff
  • Your Calculators & Your Digital watches
  • Your television & your setup-boxes like that tata-sky thing
  • or the computers in cars which detect how far the vehicle behind is, or the ECU in the car which decides how much fuel & air goes depending on the temprature load and etc
  • or the computers in an Train, like the engine which the train driver drives, or airplanes, all sorts of like passenger or fighter planes
at places like America you can earn like $1,10,269 (₹91,04,337) on AVERAGE, and the job demand is just increasing and increasing.
  • Web Developer
this field is most common one and the demand is high and the salary is nice too, on average you can earn $82,400 (₹68,03,339).
if you're doing web app, desktop app & mobile app development in JavaScript the figures will be quite same.
  • App Developer
your earning alot of times may depend on the platform too, an Android App Developer can earn $126,677 (₹1,04,59,061), but this isn't average you'll need alot of skills to earn this much or else it can go down by quite alot.
if you're an Apple App Developer using Swift language you can earn like on an average $135,804 (₹1,12,12,630) if you have skills.
i don't know much about desktop app developer salaries but you can earn like $84,500 (₹69,76,725) on an average.
  • Game Developer
game development is a relatively big topic and while there is no answer to how much you can earn as a game developer on an average a video game artist can earn $59,156 (₹48,84,203) and a video game programmer on an average can earn $75,486 (₹62,32,486).
and while the above mentioned figures are for when working for someone, if you decide to make your own team or work solo, the figure can go even higher if you make a game that has a huge return of investment.
in the start i think it's fine to work for someone to get the much needed experience and then you can work on your own game. but solely working on your game can be risky as if the game doesn't perform well you may earn even lower than what you earned by working for someone.
this isn't a guide about getting into game development but if you want to become a video game artist i'd say start with 3D Modelling Skills & Pixel Art, both of them aren't required. a programming language like C++, Java Or C# is required to if you want to program the game too or you can just hire someone or just work with someone you know.
  • Artificial Intelligence
don't know much about this field too but on an average you can earn like $105,000 (₹86,69,304).
  • FPGA Engineer
this job on an average pays $149,735 (₹1,23,62,840) but it can go upto as much as $192,000 (₹1,58,52,441).
these jobs have HIGH demand but because of the skill-set they require.

What Programming Language/Career you should go into?

i think you the person asking this question has the answer. every language/career has different difficult, adventure, salary and stress, and you should only go into the one in which YOU are interested in.
i want to go into embedded systems because those small computers & programming them is what attracts me, the salary is quite decent too, the stress it gives is almost none since it is what i am interested in.
any idiot can get into programming for the juicy money, but to actually earn what the professionals in this field earn you'll have to be passionate about your field & job.
and not only that but you'll have to get a degree too, because yes you can learn most of the stuff online but colleges, the good ones especially teach alot of stuff that you may not find online and not the mention that actually getting the job will be alot easier since the company knows you studied in the good college thus you have the skill they need.

Resources

here are some resources you might like to get into programming:
Note: the resources above are mostly in english and the resources in other languages have been mentioned with the language they are in.

Outro

that's really all i have to say, feel free to ask me anything you want to, don't feel that you'll sound dumb or something, i was an complete ass in the starting too (i still am xD).
also thanks to everyone appreciating me! lol it's alot to take in.

What I want to keep:
Nothing except monitors, mouse, keyboard, speakers and PSU if possible. Don't need to buy Windows and I'm not really interested in upgrading to Win11 right now. I'm fine with keeping the case but I'd really like to get a new one as I love NZXT newer models.

Personal preferences:
I'm not super into RGB stuff but I'd like it to have some color (?), with my current PC i just used some very cheap led stripes. Also I have the opportunity to get a discount on NVIDIA GPUs, even tho I'm not 100% sure about it lol

Thanks in advance to everyone! ~

2023.05.28 11:56 Hias2019 High idle power consumption new homeserver (25W)

Hi everybody,
my HP Microserver gen8 is doing sporadic cold reboots without any error messages, maybe a power supply problem - so I thought I'd build a new box.
I have chosen the following hardware: Asrock Fatal1ty m-itx B450 Mainboard
Ryzen 4650g Pro CPU
16GB ECC ram Kingston
Samsung 860 NVMe 500GB System disk
Currently, no HDD (3x 14TB Toshiba Raid 5 will come from HP box)
Intertech SC-4004 case, Intertech 250W Bronze power supply.
I have plugged in a Digital Devices DVB-C Card with DVB-S2 Addon-card (their power requirement - will need to test but they can't go out).
Installed Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and it is running at 25-27W in idle from the outlet, both on desktop and also in runlevel multiuser.target (i.e. only text login). Wifi is disabled in bios.
powertop --auto-tune does not even reduce a Watt. I have not tried to do any undervolting because I thought that would be more relevant for load scenarios than idle.
I am not sure whether sensors detects correctly - K10temp-pci-00c3 says PCI adapter Tctl: 42.6°C, is that the CPU? In the Bios, power consumption is higher and the CPU levels out at about 55°, so this is possible.
I hoped to get quite a bit lower, actually - is 25W base consumption reasonable for this configuration? I would not mind to loose performance.
The power supply fan gets very noisy - air flow in the case is not good at all but maybe it is also an efficiency problem.
Where do I start to get idle power down? Does meddling with c-states in Linux have benefits for idle power? I will be thankful for any pointers!
BTW, the HP Microserver is currently running at about 50W with four 3.5" HDD (one 8GB drive additionally to the above mentioned RAID 5array, idle).

How to deal way too much damage on turn one (and also take way too long actually finishing it)

Here, I just wanted to do something a little funny. I wanted to see how much non-infinite damage I could come up with *and* how long I could make a single turn last. Quick note, other people have done way more damage with way less cards, so this isn't even the best at what it can do. But I'm not posting this to BadMTGCombos for quality, so anyway.
For every fight with the Golden Guardian and Broodhatch Nantuko, Nantuko creates n tokens, where n was Guardian's last power, and Guardian's power is raised to 2^N by Nylea’s Colossus This is possible because Enchanted Evening turns all permanents into enchantments, triggering Nylea’s doubling effect. Each fight works the same way multiple Fungal Sproutings do with Devilish Valet, except it scales exponentially faster with each additional Nylea. The Nantuko and Golem don't die because Rootborn Defenses at some point gives them invulnerability. 5 fights gets 2^2^2^2^2^N, or 2^^6 in Knuth's Notation. The most robust calculator I could find goes up to 9,000,000,000,000,000 *digits*, and it still can't handle 2^^6. That is the scale of numbers we are dealing with here, so keep that in mind.
For every time Agrus Kos copies a fight from Golden Guardian for each creature on the battlefield, and Psychic Battle redirects all of them onto Nantuko, the number of tokens increases by 2^^N. Just 4 Agrus triggers results in 2^^2^^2^^2^^N, or 2^^^5. This is because after 1 Agrus trigger and a million fights, you'll have *way* more creatures to boost the 2nd Agrus, and so on.
For every 12 life you have, Treasonous Ogre can create 4 red mana, starting a fight and creating a copy of it for every creature on the battlefield. Paying 12 mana 4 times gives you 2^^2^^2^^2^^N, or 2^^^5.
On the final fight of the final bit of red mana, all the Colossi double the power of target creature a near infinite number of times. For every green mana you pay, Kheru Dreadmaw can sacrifice that boosted creature, gain a ton of life equal to its toughness, then repeat the whole process with red mana and fighting. Sacrificing 4 creatures, and expending all mana on boosting the token count between each sacrifice, creates 2^^^2^^^2^^^2^^^N, or 2^^^^N tokens.
For every tap of Sanctum of the Sun, create green mana equal to your life total. Just 3 taps for mana gets 2^^^^2^^^^2^^^^N, or 2^^^^^4 tokens, mana, and power.
For every tap of Patriar's Seal, Argus copies it, then Psychic battle redirects the copy unto himself, and he copies that, until Ogre runs out of life to convert to mana on her final untap. Then, all untaps are redirected to Sanctum, creating millions of triggers to tap for green mana. 3 taps of Seal gets 2^^^^^2^^^^^2^^^^^N, 2^^^^^^N, or 2->4->6 power, tokens, mana, and copy fodder for Agrus.
For every 2 energy counters available to Janjeet Sentry, Argus copies another untap sequence for every creature, then redirects all untaps to Patriar's Seal.
2->N->7.
For every *batch* of Doubling Seasons that come into play, increase the no. of counters of Janjeet Sentry immensely, as well as the number of token copies. This also greatly affects the growth rate of Golden Guardian, the insect tokens, and your own mana pool.
2->N->8
For every *batch* of Astral Dragon, create a batch of Doubling Seasons for each Dragon. Each subsequent batch of Seasons gets affected by the Seasons of the last, again ramping up way faster.
2->N->9
For every batch of Dutiful Replicator, create a batch of Astral Dragons for every instance of Dutiful Replicator's ability. You only pay the replicating cost of the 1st one, spend the remaining mana on Nantuko fights for tokens, then copy Dutiful Replicator's ability with Agrus. Each dragon batch comes in one at a time, and gets affected by the doubling seasons of the last.
2->N->10
Each Dual Nature creates another batch of Dutiful replicators whenever the enters the battlefield, achieved with Cloudshift. Each Dutiful Replicator batch again affects each subsequent Dutiful Replicator batch count.
2->N->11
On the final Astral Dragon trigger of the final Dutiful Replicator batch, create a ton of Dual Natures to fuel the next Dutiful Replicator bounce.
2->N->12
For every instance of Radiate, copy a Cloudshift for each creature on the battlefield, then redirect all copies onto Quicksilver Dragon with Psychic Battle. Pay one blue to redirect a copy onto Dutiful Replicator, let it resolve, then repeat until all copies of Cloudshift have been resolved. You can tap Sanctum to get blue mana
2->N->13
For every casted instance of Radiate, replicate it as many times as you can with your mana using Djinn Illuminatus. Each copy of Radiate creates infinitely more copies of Cloudshift as each resolves.
2->N->14
For every instance of Naya Charm, return Radiate to your hand, recast it, then replicate it all over again. Upon casting one Naya Charm, replicate it again with Djinn Illuminatus, creating tons of copies and returning Radiate to your hand every time.
2->N->15
When you've resolved all these spells and come up with 2->N->15 or 2^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^N creatures, cast Surge to Victory, and exile Naya Charm. Whenever any creature deals combat damage to a player, create a *castable* copy of Naya Charm. Just casting and replicating it each time here would bring you to 2->N->16 numbers, but you can go even further. To prevent your opponent from dying and prolong their suffering, cast Abyssal Persecutor, and prevent them from losing the game until you're satisfied.
Cast Pull from Eternity (actually recast, because you needed to cast it to get back the cards you exiled with Azor's Gateway//Sanctum of the Sun before transforming it), and put the Naya Charm you just exiled back into your graveyard. Now, with every castable copy of Naya Charm from Surge of Victory, return the Naya Charm *card* from your graveyard to your hand, and get way more returned Radiate cards.
2->N->17
Finally, when every castable card from Surge to Victory has resolved, and your opponent thinks he can breathe a sigh of relief - Cast World at War, and copy it 2->N->16 times. Congratulations, you've just granted yourself 2->N->16 additional combat phases, and each phase will get infinitely more creatures to attack with to trigger Surge to Victory. The reason it doesn't go infinite is because World at War can only be cast before the end of the 2nd main phase, and doesn't create any additional phases after that. This puts our final damage number in the range of 2^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^(2^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^N) or 2->(2->N->17)->18. When the final World at War trigger resolves, fight Abyssal Persecutor so it can die, and let your opponent lose in peace. Win. Then, find new friends and/or reconsider your life decisions.
Just kidding. We wanna go for *maximum* pain. Right now you've used 29 cards. Fill 28 of the remaining slots with a 2nd copy of everything except Naya's Charm (otherwise it'd go infinite), then 2 Shahrazads. Draw and cast one Sharazad, and create 2->(2->N->17)->18 copies of it. You've just made that many subgames of Magic, with each game using the 28 relevant cards remaining in your library AND another Shahrazad. In *each* subgame, replay everything all over again, minus Naya's Charm. And on the final phase of each subgame, cast the 2nd Shahrazad and replicate it 2->N->17 times. In the end, you will play (2->(2->N->17)->18)*(2->N->17) subgames, and then let your opponent lose, if he's still alive (realistically the heat death of the universe would've been reached by game one, but let's not focus on the minor details). THEN you can destroy persecutor and reconsider your life decisions.

2023.05.28 11:13 Complex-Goat1853 My theory on why Afton keeps coming back, and he never wont die

When the springlock failure happened, he died and between that event and fnaf 3 he was dead, but when fnaf 3 happened i believe that something made his soul to possess spring bonnie, and i believe that Is Michael, and after fnaf 3 he of course get burned, and in fnaf 6 he get burned again, and after that his soul was in the ultimate custom night, even seeing a replica of himself(springtrap and scraptrap). After that Help wanted happened, so Afton wasnt in the ucn anymore but he was glitchtrap, and vanny made him burntrap in SB. And i believe the reason why he wont die, Is the fact that he already died in the springbonnie suit, and his soul was possessing the animatronic that he died in, so after that he cant die anymore. But how are we gonna destroy him? I believe that we are gonna burn him for good, like fnaf 6, and after that his soul Is probably gonna be in the ucn, forever, with no digital copy like glitchtrap.

2023.05.28 11:13 Zecharael What sustains you?

I've apparently reached the stage in my life where I can't stop thinking about all the things I'll never have, do, be, or experience. All the loneliness of my wasted and worthless life has really started to crash down on me like a tsunami wave. I'm not yet at what people call "midlife", and since the crises of youth never actually ended, I don't know how I could have a midlife crisis. But whatever this is called, I have to do something about it, even if that's just opening the pressure valve on this mental water heater before it rockets through the roof of my mind. Yes, I tortured that metaphor like the CIA with a suspected terrorist, leave me alone. So, much like NASA with its Voyager craft and golden record, I'm simply going to send these thoughts off into that universal, digital void, with greetings and a question to pose. Starting in T-Minus 3... 2... 1...
Hello, fellow lonely people! What do you have that sustains you?
I try very hard not to dwell on these negative thoughts and feelings, but it is very difficult when there isn't much positive to focus on (yes I obviously fail at it). Every little thing I've ever actually had is being taken away, and I fear the speed of this larceny is ramping up considerably. All of the terrible things that have been happening this year, as well as the year before, are really starting to get to me, and it's gotten me thinking, how nice would it be to have something to fall back on, something to lean on or into? Even if that thing or things doesn't help you make friends, or find mates, they can at least be *something*. I don't have any real reference for what that might be like. I don't have any talents, skills, abilities, special knowledge, or training. I'm not good at anything. I've never succeeded, won at, or achieved anything. I remember very little, and my capability for recalling something I do remember is even worse. I'm not charming, entertaining, funny, or even particularly intelligent. I have no money or property. I'm not strong, handsome, sexy, or attractive. I don't really have any friends or family that actually like me. A small sidenote; before anyone cites "negativity" as the reason why no one likes me, I'd like to say that I never express these truths to anyone I know. I always pretend to be upbeat, generally happy and am always kind and friendly to everyone. Still, I'll never have a close friend group. I'll never have a friend that actually cares, wonders how I'm doing or how my day went, or wants to spend time with me. I'll never not be poor. No one is ever going to pay me to do anything that isn't manual labor or customer service. I'll never be able to play an instrument, make great art, or do anything that would make people cheer, feel some deep emotion, laugh, or even just make them feel happy.
I'll never have a family of my own, and much less a mate. I'll never know what it's like for a woman to deeply love me and passionately desire me. At least not a woman without serious mental disorders. I'm not shaming or putting down people with mental disorders (I have my own problems with severe anxiety). I'm talking about the kind of mental problems that inflict terrible pain on others. I have had a couple of stalkers in my life, at least one of them in real life, and that one physically threatened me. I've been sexually harassed and mildly assaulted by girls and women. Even though, since about third grade, most of the attention I ever got from girls was mocking, derisive, bullying, name-calling, laughter, and looks of general disgust. I know by experience and observation that life is intrinsically unfair, but having to experience the polar opposite, negative behaviors of dislike, as well as infatuation, seems just a little bit fucking extra to me. Please understand, I am not the "I" word that shall not be mentioned. I think the fact that I've always had such negative interactions with most women outside of my family, has seriously crippled me, and honestly, I don't think I ever had much of a chance. But I have sympathy and empathy for those people who were struggling mentally and mistreated me. I know they probably went through terrible things in their own life, and couldn't help the way their minds worked. I'm not some misogynist, but I guess in the dark recesses of my mind and heart, I am a bit of a misanthrope.
The things that I'm going through now have spurred me on to truly try and make serious improvements and steps "forward", even though my efforts have led to nothing and almost certainly never will. The clock has essentially run out, but I will continue anyway, maybe just to chase "hope", or because I hate myself and I deserve to suffer. I'm not really sure which.
So goodnight, good day, or good morning, dear void and the denizens within. Thank you if you actually read my horrible, depressing, diatribe.

2023.05.28 10:41 RotohiYamau Someone may be using my bank account because I don’t recognise a transaction

I’m in England and with Lloyds Bank.
I recently woke up and saw that someone bought inflight internet worth under £15 using my bank account, which is currently a pending out transaction. I think it took place in Switzerland as the transaction name ended within “CH”. I’m confused as to how this happened as I haven’t been on an airplane in many years. So far I haven’t had much luck in cancelling it.
This is the first time this has happened to me, and I couldn’t even trust Lloyd’s fraud number (sounds dumb I know). This is because the number first asked for my date of birth (which I entered in the key-pad) and then the 3-digit CVV at the back of my debit card (which I didn’t type in) which I didn’t expect they’d ask for, so I hung up.
Have Lloyds themselves been attacked? On their “Contact us about fraud” page, they say that Lloyds Bank will never ask you to “Share your account details like user ID, password and memorable information” and “Tell us your PIN code or card expiry date”. Or am I overthinking all this and that I should just provide them my 3-digit CVV anyway?
Shall I call the number again? It was the number called when I went to the mobile banking app and went to Support -> Contact Us -> Suspected Fraud -> Call Us.
What should I do? I’m really worried someone out there has my bank details now and that more unknown purchases will be made.
One more thing is that yesterday I received a notification from my Lloyds banking app at around 2am saying my card got declined for £0 at Google as the “3-digit security code isn’t quite right”. What?? This doesn’t make sense as I haven’t made any payments like this and I was asleep at the time.
Thanks.

2023.05.28 09:13 Mattrapbeats Making first 10 sales with $0 marketing budget

Last week I made a post about generating 2.5 million in sales for a client without spending a dime on ads. The thing is, I did this on a brand that already did over a million in sales the year before. I got a bunch of messages from people that don't already have established brands but thought they could benefit from organic traffic. So I made this post, I'll explain exactly how you can generate sales with literally nothing other than time and a website.

Quick disclaimer, it's 10x harder to make your first 10 sales if you don't have a marketing budget or an existing audience to market to. You're going to have to consistently spend multiple hours a day working to accomplish anything. Not just mindless work either, you're going to have to be a critical thinker and have a basic understanding of human psychology to see any type of success using these methods. If you don't have time to do that, you won't see any results from these methods and you might as well stop reading now.

Now that we've cleared that up let's get to the good stuff. Here's how you make your first 10 sales without spending any money on marketing.

In order to get sales you need traffic. You can't test anything or sell anything if no one visits your site.
So here are 3 ways to generate traffic for free:

1. Become a member of the community that your customers interact in
In my last post, I explained how I built a community from scratch, but at this point, I'm assuming you don't have time to spend 3 months building a community if you haven't even proven that anyone wants to buy your products. So I'm going to teach you how to piggyback off existing communities.
It is easier said than done, but 1 good post can get easily get you your first 5 sales. You can do this on Reddit, in Facebook groups, or any other type of niche relevant group/forum. If the people in these communities think you're trying to sell something you'll probably just get banned and people will actually get mad at you for trying to sell your products. The trick is being a casual, you want to put yourself in the shoes of your ideal customer. Don't even mention your products in your first 2-3 posts. Maybe ask niche relevant questions, or provide value in comments under other people's posts and show people that you have a genuine interest in the topic. Think of this like warming up your account.
Now when it's time to sell, you do it in the most discreet way possible. The better your product is, the easier it is to do this. This is the fastest way to find out if your product is actually useful and if there's actually demand for your product. The best way to promote your product and create brand recognition is with lifestyle content. Never post a product photo with a white background in a community group. NEVER!

I'll give you a few examples of how to post product pics correctly:
Example 1
niche: dog niche
product: dog collar
You take a dog to a beautiful place. Maybe a beach by the water and you get a whole photoshoot with the dog. Bring lots of treats and showcase a happy dog wearing the collar you sell. Now you don't post the entire photoshoot in the group. You post 1 picture, not necessarily the best picture or the most professional looking one. You want to post the picture that evokes the most emotion. It's the picture with the dog making a funny face, or another dog sniffing your dog's butt, or the pic with your dog in bliss chewing his favorite treat that goes viral. Pick a picture that'll start a discussion and reply to every single comment. Then, once the post does well, without a doubt someone will ask about your product. That's when you come in and give a shoutout to the site that you got it from. If no one does this, you can literally create a fake account and ask/answer the question on your own. You're basically creating the perception of product demand.

Example 2
niche: food and beverage/electronics
Product: digital thermometer
Imagine... It's steak night, you fire up the BBQ and you want the perfect steaks! We're selling the dream of a perfectly cooked steak, not a digital thermometer. You post 2 pictures. Picture 1 is the steak on the grill with the thermometer showing the perfect temperature. Picture 2 shows the perfectly sliced steak being served. Try to capture someone that stirs emotions in the picture, whether it's a happy grandma, a kid with the steak on his fork, or a hungry pet drooling and looking at your plate. Emotion is what sells the product. Make sure you have a caption that conveys the message that you're trying to send. Use something short and simple but also try your best to convey a story. Further, convey the imagery in the comments ex. "Inlaws are over, got this thermometer to make sure everything was cooked perfectly, Now everyone thinks I actually know how to cook."

Example 3
Niche: candles
Product: candle
"Midterms are around the corner, sparked my favorite scent to set the mood tonight" (caption for the post in studying group or collage group) + a picture of an opened textbook and candle in the background, but you can clearly still see the candle label. This example is for the people who have general products. It may actually be harder for you to sell a candle in a candle subreddit because there are just too many options. So you get into the mind of your customers, you imagine the scenario your customer is in when they use your product, and you sell the feeling of enjoying the product in a situation that they've experienced before.
In the comments, you describe the scent in detail and you talk about how you prefer this candle over the one you got at Bath and Body Works because it's made from natural materials.
If you do this right, consistently. Eventually one of your posts will go viral and without a doubt that will convert into a sale.

2. Grow social media organically
This is a lot easier if you can afford to order the product that you sell. But it's still possible to make this work if you can't get the product in your hands.
With this method, you're essentially picking up a new part-time job. You are now a social media manager, you work 20 hours a week and create and post new content on multiple platforms every single day. You want to take advantage of platforms that favor new accounts. A great place to start is Tiktok but Instagram reels is pretty good too. Tiktok boosts the reach of new accounts, you can see a lot of success blitzing a new Tiktok account (2-5 posts a day). The Instagram algorithm boosts accounts that post a lot of reels because for a good while Tiktok was destroying them with short-term content. (Fun fact this feud between platforms is so deep that if you make a video on Tiktok and you cross-post it on Instagram without removing the Tiktok watermark, the Instagram algorithm will suppress the reach of the video)

You want to focus on making short videos with a focus on real-life use cases of your product. I'd break this down into 3 steps.

A. Research
B. Content Testing
C. Doubling down on what gets traction

It can take weeks or even months to get a good feel for how to create engaging content. The true key is consistency. At the end of the day, it's gonna come down to volume. Not just any volume, but a high volume of quality content. Whatever platform that you decide to use, I suggest watching at least 4 hours of content on youtube from experts on the platform. You'll pick up a bunch of tricks and tips. It's important that you understand how the algorithm works on different platforms to see any type of success doing this. I wouldn't suggest attempting to scale on more than 3 platforms at once. In fact, it's actually better to focus on 1 platform and do it well over splitting your time into other platforms trying to scale 3 pages at the same time. Don't spread yourself too thin.

3. Elite cart protection
If you do under 10k a month most email marketing is irrelevant. People with startup brands book calls with me all the time and I tell them the same thing. You need traffic before there's anything I can do to help you other than give some basic advice. However, there are 3 automated email flows that actually can make an impact at this point. These flows are the welcome series, the abandoned cart, and the browse abandonment. Most email platforms are free and they charge based on volume. So in most cases, this won't cost you anything. Sites like Klaviyo make it very easy to set up the basics. Don't overthink this at all, at this point you don't need beautiful designs or stand-out copywriting. You simply need to just follow up with the interested potential customers that visit your site. A healthy store converts 3% of its traffic, 7/10 people who add things to their cart don't complete a purchase. You have a second chance at converting 97% of the people that visit your site if you actually follow up with them.

I've made entire posts about how to set flows up correctly so I won't be expanding on this much more.

I know this post was a bit long-winded but if you've made it this far you must be serious. There's going to be a bunch of people that read this thread and take no action that'll stay at 0 sales. The beauty of life is that you get to choose what happens next.

With that being said, thanks so taking the time out of your day to read my post. I hope even some of the bigger brand owners were able to get something out of this post. I look forward to seeing some of you guys make your first few sales in the coming weeks. As always feel free to add onto things that I missed, or maybe share what worked for you. I'll reply to everything that I see.

2023.05.28 09:11 Mattrapbeats Making first 10 sales with $0 marketing budget
