2023.06.07 20:43 Clear_Kale5947 SSPR and MFA setup advice
Evening admins
I’m looking for a little bit of advice with regards to setting up SSPR and MFA. We are in the process of rolling both out to our 200 users, currently 60 are setup with CA based MFA and no one for SSPR.
MFA - The 60 that have been setup with MFA all have company phones so MFA is via the MS Authenticator app. We now have to try and find a way to convince users to install this app on their personal phones or we are looking at offering token codes that we can purchase. Just curious if you have had issues getting people to use Authenticator on their personal phones? It would be much easier than having to go through the token code setup method for us as most people always have their phones with them.
SSPR - I’ve been doing a lot of reading about this and we do have password write back setup on AD Connect. With regards to enrolling users just curious to know what method people find is the best to get users on board. The problem I see if having to register a mobile number or personal email for recovery. Mobile number not an issue for company phone users but users that don’t might decide they don’t want their personal phones as a recovery method.
Be grateful to hear how people approach this
Thank you

2023.06.07 20:43 bon_bon12366699 my history with the paranormal
OK, to start I'm a scientist and believe every thing can be expanded, but that doesn't mean I don't believe in the paranormal. It has been proven the humans create an energy that theoretically could save a consciousness. As well as it's possible for other spices of animals to exist that we don't know of, or the human mind saw something it couldn't explain and made up "magic" when really is just a different form of energy or life, and to add to that I believe that the body is the most powerful machine, and the mind is the scariest weapon. now that's all done, let me tell you a little bit of what I have experienced; when I was young I was going to have a younger sibling (now is non-binary) I really wanted a little brother, but one day I put my hand on my moms belly and said "it's a girl" at the time pepper (my sibling) was only in the second phase of developing in the body, 7 months latter their born a girl. I've also have had several talks to seemingly no one when I was younger, and oddly enough I can remember a small amount of those conversations (before I get into that here are some odd things that came from those conversations: they were always on one topic (which I struggle to do normally) usually had to do with science or ethics and other beliefs, my grades often got significantly higher and stayed that way). one conversation had to do with how we see the world compared to others. "what do you mean they don't see like me, are they blind?" "no" "what do they see?" "the same thing, but just not the same way" "like how?". this conversation happened when I was 4-5, right after I left my terroristic birth father. after that my thoughts on humanity changed from it's core, I was more forgiving, but that ended up causing more pain in my life and that's when I remember another conversation that happened when I was 13, G="do you know what people want" M="no" "their all greedy" "that's not true" "unfortunately it is, we all want something maybe it's love or revenge, but it always will come, careful who you trust" "why?"... that's the last time I remember having one of these conversations. as well as I always have this feeling that I being watched, and some sort of "mid class spidy sense" were my back will feel weird anytime I don't feel safe. it's helped me get out of some pretty bad situations... I know it can be expanded with science. but I don't know how yet

2023.06.07 20:43 ala412 Jackson Entres?
I cannot find any reviews/thoughts about these boots online, and I’m curious why that is while I see quite a bit about Debuts, Freestyles, and other intermediate Jackson skates/boots. I’m an adult beginner (25yo, 125 lbs, 5’6) that’s been skating for about 6 months, and I’m sitting around LTS basic 6 right now. I’ve got a pretty solid waltz jump and a halfway there salchow that I’ve picked up outside of my classes, and am looking to start private lessons again soon and begin working on more of my jumps. I don’t plan on moving up from my Jackson Artistes at the moment, but was researching into some possible step-up boots+blades for later and came across the Entres, so just wanted to see any thoughts others have. Note: I do have a pro-shop I go to for proper fittings and will utilize when I’m ready to buy, but I’m just looking for general stats/thoughts now.

2023.06.07 20:42 Alpaca_Potato Ph.D. Student needing direction... scRNAseq
I have recently been tasked with trying to figure out how to analyze public scRNAseq data to locate a specific gene in adipocyte cells and then compare the results between that of obese vs lean, mouse vs human, etc. I have very limited experience in how to do this but I'm wanting to learn:
Sadly, as a first-year, I have no clue where to start.
- Where can I find publically available scRNAseq data?
- I read that either Seurat or Scanpy were good to use-depending on the preferred language. Is there something I should do instead? Which do you prefer?
- Best place for tutorials/classes (Keep in mind that I'm a broke grad student trying to make it)
- Am I completely off track? I'd really like to try to do some of this on my own. If you think my advisor has put too much faith in me, I can also cry and hide under blankets until she returns from vacation. I don't have to have this done soon, but she wanted me to put a plan together.

2023.06.07 20:41 bananabrownie Seeker Mara deserved better. (Spoiler)
As one of the first NPCs we run into in the game while we are leveling up, Seeker Mara is like that foster parent/mentor that proudly watches over us as we kill off monsters and bring peace through the various quests she assigns us.
After completing my quest putting to rest the 4 Fallen Gods, I was informed by Samson in Loton that Mara was ruthlessly murdered in a valiant battle against Mammon. Why didn't she retreat and wait for my return? Surely she would know the hero she watched over these past few weeks would be able to vanquish this foe without issue. I thought NPCs weren't supposed to die. Especially one that is central to the storyline.
After I wiped away my tears (the second time this game has made me cry - the first being when the devs nerfed the Summoner class line), I went looking for Mammon to quench my thirst for vengeance. Only his blood on my hands would sate my rage.
You bet I made sure that monster felt every bit of his pathetic life seeping by, as his last few minutes on this realm slipped from his gargoyle/demon wings. And he begged for mercy. He offered me the opportunity to rule the world if I fought by his side. I told him I just wanted to drive my staff through his heart and watch the light fade from his eyes. The tiny bit of vengeance I felt when the monster realized he could really do me no harm was barely sustenance for the rage I felt when I learned Seeker Mara died under this abomination's hands. And yes, I pissed over his corpse (and ordered my summons to do the same) and desecrated his remains so that even in hell/afterlife, he could not rest. His soul will forever be tormented. It's only the right thing to do.
For Mara.
On a sidenote - since the devs are capable of destroying entire class lines (cough summoner cough) in a patch, maybe they can consider bringing Seeker Mara back in spirit form. Sort of like those Lost Memory NPCs in Balor.

So basically I'm making a mind game for a school project and I don't know how to fix this. 2023.06.07 20:41 RestlessFighter4 Can I still back out
Hello, I recently signed some papers for the navy to join. All I signed was background check papers so I could get registered for MEPS and the DEP. One of my parents has signed the parental form but the other one has not yet due to the distance I have to go to get him to sign it. Can I still back out of the military by this point? I have come to realize that I am more nervous than I was previously. I may sign back up at a later date but I'm just not sure right now.

2023.06.07 20:40 Junior_Dragonfruit72 Looking at my options and trying to find some direction in life
What are the pros and cons of these these chocies:
Context: Graduated high school in South Asia with a 3.6 GPA. Did alevel in A* A B. Didnt take any sciences or math or computer science as alevel subject so didn't go to pakistan or uk unis as they want specifc subject to do comp science.. Need full aid. Applied 3 times for colleges in US and UK and Turkey. But only got into some and wait list in others and those i got in only gave small aid. I started uni of london distance learning bachelors in comp science in October 2022.
Choices: 1.Continuing my uni of London online distance learning program in computer science. Second semester started. It is online. I deeply dislike the online learning mode and feel not passionate about coding or my coursework because of the lack of actual college feeling. Not in touch with any professors or classmates since it is online. I may only get 1 or 2 basic recommendation letters if I apply for job or masters (rely want to do masters). My transcripts will coke super late thanks to slow administration. The support is late too. The grades come on also late. Paying full pay but it is cheaper than on campus. No substantial support in terms of internship or work or career. Feel like I am doing most of the work myself with my own resources. . So continuing this is option A. Also can do this degree in 3 years.
Or Applying again this Oct Nov for early decision and Jan for regular decision for forth time for US unis. I don't have any significant changes in my application. May take SAT again since I got less than 1300 out of 1600 (not a great test taker but good decent grades- may not be competitive though for full blind unis). Grades are same and some ECs will be added (okish..not anything worthwhile in my opinion) and my essay would be different but I would still need full aid or 80 percent of aid for us unis. So looking into either doing a transfer but most unis don't accept online credits from online uni even though the transcript wouldn't say I have been doing the school online. Or I can apply freshman.
Or
Take alevels to fulfill subject requirement and apply here in home country. Might get some aid but their rank for even best unis is not ideal here and I want to get out my country and be independent. Studying here would probably mean being at home like I am now.
Or
Taking a year off. Doing substantial work experince and apprentichip (no guarantee though I will get one cause I have no work authorization nor am I a US citizen) and job and making some money and visiting my sister in US to reflect and get more clarity.More inclined to redo my SAT and take more either AP classes or better my o and alevel subjects. Better my profile for college apps again while still taking my uni of london courses as backup. But would have to delay my academics.
Or Do another major. Lol. But I like CS and tech

2023.06.07 20:40 Equivalent_Tip_5861 Profile Evaluation for MSc Econ and MSc EPID
Hey there, I want to apply for MSc Economics (1 year) and Economic Policy for International Development
Undergraduate College in India
- I graduated Magna Cum Laude (3.83/4 GPA) in Econ. Here are some courses I took: Econometrics (A), Micro 1 (A), Micro 2 (A-), Macro 1 (A-), and Macro 2 (A).
- I've taken most mathematics courses that graduate schools require— Calculus (A), Linear Algebra (A), Multivariate Calc (A), Probability and Statistics (A), and Real Analysis (B).
- GRE: 330 (166Q/164V)
- I'll be pursuing a postgraduate diploma from the same uni (Sept 2023-May 2024) where I'll be writing a postgrad dissertation/thesis focused on FLFP in India post-COVID.
- I'll most likely also be a Teaching Assistant for an undergrad econ course in my uni next semester.
Work Experience:
- Currently working with the Government of India's Ministry of Policy in Trade & Commerce, Economics, Finance & Disinvestment, and G-20 Coordination as a research intern. This is a fairly selective internship with an acceptance rate of 5-7%.
- I am also working as a Research Assistant for a professor at my uni till May 2024.
- I have previously worked as a Research Fellow (basically an internship) at a social consultancy firm which works as an independent affiliate of the World Bank and ADB.
- I have been the editor of my uni's undergraduate PPE journal.
- I worked as a Research Assistant for another professor at my Uni in 2020.
Research Work:
I have written 4 term papers in economics which were fairly econometrically rigorous (as much as possible with an undergraduate understanding of econometrics, so basically DID, IV regressions etc.) but no publications. I am currently working towards getting a paper published in the next few months.
SoP/LoR I think I'm fairly confident in my abilities to write a pretty good SoP. I am getting my LoRs from Professors I have worked with closely and have usually ranked in the top 5-10% percentile of their classes.
Do I stand a realistic chance of getting in? Is there anything specific I should work on in the time I have?

2023.06.07 20:39 Active_Syllabub6837 Hanzo's One-Shot Potential: A Bigger Issue than Widowmaker? Delving into Overwatch's Sniper Imbalance
The recent statements from "director take news" regarding balance changes of one shot heroes may indicate a disconnect between understanding of the game's issues and the player community's concerns. It seems that the mark is being missed when it comes to identifying the core problems and implementing necessary adjustments. This disconnect is leading to frustration among us players who are eagerly waiting for the game to evolve and improve. It is essential for developers to actively listen to player feedback and consider their perspectives to ensure that balance changes align with the community's expectations and enhance the overall gameplay experience.
Hanzo is the biggest problem in overwatch 2 right now, not Widowmaker.
- High burst damage: Hanzo's ability to dish out substantial burst damage, especially with headshots, can quickly eliminate heroes, leaving opponents with limited reaction time and counterplay options.
- No weakness: Hanzo is frustrating to play against because of his lack of significant weaknesses. He excels at all ranges, making him effective in both close-quarters combat and long-range sniping, providing few opportunities for opponents to exploit his vulnerabilities. He even counters sombra which can be considered a direct skill-matchup and counter to widow maker or snipers.
- Effective against flying heroes despite being his direct counters: Hanzo can win against Pharah and Echo due to his burst damage potential, faster projectile speed (100 meters per second), vertical mobility due to wall climb and allowing him to get to elevated positions where parah and echo tend to hover, aerial mobility due to his jump and mid-range effectiveness where his arrows maintain their speed and accuracy.
- Projectile Hitbox : His projectile arrows have a generous hitbox, making them forgiving and easier to land compared to hitscan snipers. This can lead to a sense of unfairness and lack of counterplay, as even near misses can result in significant damage or kills.
- Frustrating to play against : Hanzo's high one-shot spam potential, especially with headshots, can quickly eliminate squishy heroes without much chance to react or defend themselves. This one-shot capability can feel oppressive and frustrating, undermining the fair and balanced gameplay that hero shooters strive to achieve.
- Storm arrows: His Storm Arrows ability allows him to rapidly fire multiple arrows with increased attack speed, further increasing his burst damage potential and making it challenging for opponents to effectively trade or fight back.
- Core gameplay design Issues : The combination of Hanzo's versatility, forgiving hitbox, and high burst damage creates a playstyle that is inconsistent with the intended design of hero shooter snipers especially with his one shot potential. It reduces the need for precise aim and strategic positioning, undermining the tactical depth and balance that these characters typically bring to the game.
Why one-shot capability on hanzo should be removed? The removal of Hanzo's ability to one-shot opponents would be beneficial for game balance in Overwatch. One-shot mechanics have historically caused frustration in other games, such as the "no-scope" snipers in early Call of Duty titles or the one-shot kill weapons in certain fighting games. These mechanics often create a feeling of unfairness and lack of counterplay, as players are eliminated instantly without ample opportunity to react or defend themselves.
Successful balancing examples can be seen in games like Team Fortress 2, where the Sniper class requires headshots to achieve one-shot kills, providing a higher skill ceiling and allowing opponents to have a chance to react and counter. Unsuccessful designs can be observed in games where one-shot mechanics dominate, leading to repetitive and frustrating gameplay experiences such as Overwatch 2 and hanzo itself where spamming arrows at general direction of enemy in shoulder range will gift you with a headshot. Removing Hanzo's one-shot capability would promote a healthier and more balanced gameplay environment in Overwatch.
One example of a game where poor sniper balance design negatively impacted its success is "Battlefield 4." The inclusion of the "one-shot kill" sniper rifles with high bullet velocity and low bullet drop created frustration among players. Snipers could dominate matches from long distances with minimal counterplay options, leading to complaints about unfair gameplay and unbalanced engagements. This imbalance, along with other factors, contributed to a decline in player interest and a loss of player base over time.
Why reducing one shot capability on hanzo may make it a better hero and add to their skill expression? If the one-shot capability of Hanzo's was removed the ability, Storm Arrows can still serve as a valuable skill and cooldown for players to use. Instead of relying on instant eliminations, Storm Arrows could be reimagined to enhance Hanzo's overall combat effectiveness. For example, it could provide increased attack speed, improved accuracy, or additional utility effects like piercing through barriers. This would allow Hanzo players to have a burst damage option while maintaining a fair and interactive gameplay experience for opponents, fostering strategic decision-making and skillful execution.
Why is Widowmaker comparatively balanced compared to Hanzo? To counter Widowmaker's deadly sniping, players have a few choices to bring in Sombra's hacking skills, Winston's disruptive leaps, and Wrecking Ball's chaotic mayhem, smart Genji deflects or with maps with flanks soldier and tracer can provide good counter. Don't forget, Widowmaker's low 150 HP makes her a glass cannon where poke damage from long range does affect widow who is playing extraordinarily far. Coordinate, focus fire, and let the bullets rain to shatter her dominance.
While some extraordinary long maps allows Widow to excel at long-range precision and burst damage, which can make her extremely powerful in the hands of skilled players. Widowmaker in Overwatch2 possesses both strengths and weaknesses that can be exploited by savvy players. Her strengths lie in her exceptional long-range accuracy, burst damage potential, and the ability to quickly eliminate key targets. Widowmaker's lack of mobility also makes her susceptible to close-range engagements from heroes like Winston or Reaper. Overall, while Hanzo's counterplay is more limited to other snipers, Widowmaker has a broader range of counters available to opponents atleast in ranks below grandmaster.

2023.06.07 20:39 Zeb_ra_ Web dev cancels DNS registrar, Google DNS throws a fit.
Client's web dev decided that it was time to move their website hosting to another vendor. Old website vendor's hosting platform also serves the customer's DNS. Instead of notifying IT (us), the web dev decided to go forward with the move without considering what all would be affected. As a result, the new Web Host did not move the DNS management to the new web platform, and the old service ended up cancelled.
With no live DNS hosting in place for the domain, all their DNS records were gone which caused a lot of problems, obviously. This is the point in the story where we (IT dept) were notified.
It ended up taking a while to track down where each component lived, and we ended up having to change the name servers back to where the domain was registered, Network Solutions. DNS records were rebuilt manually to restore services. We were able to restore functionality of the website, and for the most part, emails were delivering.
Unfortunately, this was not the end of this issue. It was only a couple days later that they reported emails being sent from Gmail and iCloud accounts not delivering. Some of their clients were unable to email them as they received a 550 error stating that the recipient could not be found.
There’s a quote that comes to mind by Lawrence Douglas Wilder that says, “Anger doesn’t solve anything. It builds nothing, but it can destroy everything.”
Ironically, anger solved part of the puzzle. Out of sheer frustration, one of our techs spammed nslookup on the MX record of our customer's domain using
8.8.8.8 as the nameserver.
What he found was shocking to us all: About 85% of the time, Google DNS would return the correct mx record, but the other 15% would return a completely different email server. Reaching out to Google yielded no results as they said there is nothing they can do about the fact their DNS servers provide the incorrect information. Upon reaching out to Network solutions, most of the battle was getting them to understand what nslookup was, and what command line was, as they only use their own tools, Which are "never wrong." The battle always ended with them saying there was nothing they could do.
In the end, after lots of back and forth, the answer was changing the name servers yet again to Microsoft 365, where email was hosted. After getting all the DNS records moved over (manually) to M365, the mx record issue is now resolved. My team is under the impression that Network Solutions was the issue point, and they were incapable of finding it and fixing it, assuming they even understood it to begin with.
TL;DR - Web developer unknowingly cancels DNS registrar, we (IT) reconfigure DNS at the original registrar, and google incorrectly caches the DNS record causing a plethora of email problems.

2023.06.07 20:38 Paladin_of_Light_ My College Crush
Let's begin with some backstory. My name is Alexis, I’m 25 and I live in europe wih my parents, I knew from a young age that I was gay but hid it from my family and friends until recently. I’m a university student on my last year. Now let’s get to the main story. During my first year in the first semester I met and fell in love with a guy from my university the same age as me. At first I was a bit nervous every time I saw him in class but slowly I started getting more friendly with him and his friends as time passed, we eventually got to the point of hanging out together before between and even after classes and sometimes I would bump into him and his friends and would join them. The problem is that I never told him how I feel about him and haven’t seen him in like 3 years, we weren’t friends on social media because I had sent him a request on facebook over the summer vacations but deleted it a week later because I got angry with him not responding then the last day I saw him before leaving I suggested to organise a get togethr over social media and asked him for his facebook name faigning ignorance but he told me that he already had me on facebook which was not true, ever since I have been pinning over him wondering what was going on and if I should resent him a request or add him on instagram instead. What do you think?

2023.06.07 20:38 Asleep-Musician-8801 Rant about teenage love
The reason why I never believed in love, and why I always believed everyone was just wasting my time, was because of my school of thought about love. The person who changed my mind about love is also single now. This story is from when I was studying in school, and a handsome, tall, and funny boy whose family got posted to Karachi and we started studying together. Despite attending a co-educational school, I never spoke to any boys, and I didn't have a phone or Snapchat or Facebook account. Classmates would get together and go out, but I wasn't allowed to go anywhere except to a few girls' houses that my mom approved of. Someone from family or house help would always pick me up and drop me off. Where as he used to make plans at home and invite other girls and boys from school. He was so handsome and popular that all the senior and junior girls had a crush on him, even girls from other schools and colleges. Of course, he became my crush too. He used to flirt with me and always sat next to me in class. He even got into trouble for being too talkative on the other hand I was so quiet that as a punishment teachers would change his seat and shift him next to me. He used to proudly say that if he kept getting punished for sitting next to me, he would continue to do so every day. Because of his reputation, I never took him seriously, despite of likinh him and crushing over him and now he is single. When I started university, I joined Snapchat, Instagram, and every social media site. Over the years, he added me and I used to watch his stories of going on dates with his girlfriend, taking long drives, and holding hands with girls. However, it never bothered me as I expected it from him. But after all these years, I saw his rishta ad on Facebook, and the nostalgia of my teenage crush hit me hard. It amazed me that the man who was always surrounded by girls who looked like Hollywood models and used to date girls who look not less then model is now single. Sometimes I feel like I was never his crush because I was simple back then and I'm still simple now. I only visit a beauty salon once or twice a year and I don't color my grey hair because I think it's natural. His exes and his sisters, who are actual Instagram models, are high maintenance. The reason why I never believed in love and why I always thought everyone was just a time pass, was him he left that mark. Although we have been following each other on social sites, we never spoke to each other or reacted to each other's photos. So it's obvious I never meant anything to him, even though he never initiated the conversation so did I. But after seeing his profile on the rishta group I don't know why I felt this like breakup wali feeling like mere ex ny salo date kr chora ho aur apni maa ki pasand ki larkii sy shadi kr raha ho 🤣
