2023.05.30 23:44 Itaevallassa My childhood wish keeps punching me in the face and I just feel sooo naïve.

Hi there, sorry this is gonna be a bit of a writing therapy. But maybe some of you here understand my situation, feelings, whatever. Also I’m writing all of this in a certain confidence, so please don’t use that anywhere.
To begin with I’m as we put it in my country an “absolute beginner”, meaning an adult over thirty with no sexual experience whatsoever. I basically only got my vibrator. I had a few dates in my life but nothing ever came out of it other than maybe kissing. Also I’m not much of a hunter, I rather let myself get picked. If I try to pick I’m usually facing trouble communicating. 😒 And during the pandemic I was actually glad for the first time in my life to be single.
Well this year I’ve already been through quite a bit regarding this. You see I’m in a choir and a colleague started to pay attention to me. I noticed that cause he started to copy my tics (it’s a metal choir - just let go of your stress in there). So we started dating. For the first time in years I really had a good feeling this could work out. There were just three things: My Asperger’s and his pornography addiction. And of course my sexual inexperience. But we were both in therapy, so I figured these wouldn’t really be issues. Right? So for the third date he really wanted to have dinner at my apartment. I live alone so needless to say I got the clue and needless to say I became veeery nervous! He talked to our Chorus teacher and she basically was like: You hurt her and you’ll be sorry! Well I cooked my favorite pasta, he came and… nothing happened yet again. 🫤 Suddenly my embrace was too artificial and distanced, my titts were too small, my hips too, yada yada. Oh and my Asperger’s was a problem too and he didn’t want to give me wrong hopes and such. We kept chatting daily anyway, even exchanging vacation pics. Until two weeks later during choir he told me that well his “colleague from work” he had already written about in the chats wasn’t just a colleague… I had already had that feeling, but there it was: confirmation. And I still thought: I expected this, I can handle it. Well I couldn’t… The next day I broke after a situation with a trigger. And it hit me: I’m never gonna have a wedding in white! So there it was: My subconscious childhood dream. Fast forward two and a half months and I’m still struggling with all of that. To top it all we are playing a cat-and-mouse-game in the choir, meaning: If A is confirming he’s coming this week, B finds an excuse not to and vice versa. But I tell myself: “Is he tortured by jealousy? If he knew you were seeing someone else would he do conversations with your new partner in his mind? Has he not found closure to all of this so far? No? Then move on, girl!” I even exchanged letters with a love psychologist over that and she said that while my Asperger’s sure is an issue, my complicated family history might be too. Patchwork and a complicated father-daughter-relationship. So about this time a boy from my circle of friends asked for my phone number through another friend. He revealed he has Asperger’s too and I thought this might make a much better base this time. Also: He too didn’t have a relationship so far. We met a few times in two, had good chats, drank a lot and even held hands (on my initiative after I felt the need to give him a few signals). He wanted to meet again. Whoopee! But then I called him my date and he revealed he had viewed none of this as dates and that he liked me as a buddy… Oh and of course: He had sexual experiences with women, just not in relationships… Believe me I felt soooo naive at that point… Just because I obviously can’t separate love and sex. 🙄 We will stay drinking buddies though for the time being. I don’t know. I feel like I keep seeing something something in my dating partners that they simply aren’t. The fairytale prince, the future husband, etc. Frequent Tinder-users keep warning me of it because “it’s not for people like you.” But I guess I’ll keep looking on Hiki for someone with a similar mindset like mine. Sigh. What about you out there? Anybody with similar experiences here?

2023.05.30 23:44 FStokes2001 Looking to build first PC. Mainly for Gaming

>**What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.**
Mainly for gaming. Looking to run new RPGs at high settings (E.g. Jedi Survivor and Starfield when it releases) and some online games (Apex, RL etc). I'll also look use the PC for uni work and watching films, streams etc, and possibly some coding on the side as a hobby.
>**What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?**
Roughly £2000. Would consider stretching this a bit but ideally want to keep under this amount.
>**When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.**
As soon as possible
>**What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc\)**
The PC. I'll look at getting a 1440/4k monitor and keyboard separately and can sort out the OS myself
>**Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?**
>**If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.**
Already have a SteelSeries mouse (Steelseries Rival 600) and a 1080p monitor (Asus VG248QE) I can use short term and later as a second monitor if I want to. Also have a Samsung Evo 970 plus (1TB) that I could use short term and upgrade later for more storage
>**Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?**
Unlikely. Would possibly consider down the line but not interested for now
>**Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)**
Been looking more at AMD GPUs (RX 7900XT) over NVIDIA for the higher VRAM for modern games. Also would prefer 32GB RAM. You probably now more than I do though so feel free to tell me I'm wrong!
>**Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?**
Seen good reviews for this: ***Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case*** so I'd probably look for this or something similar. No preferences for LEDs or RGB but a window would be nice to see inside.
If I could be advised on case fans and network adapters etc that'd be great. I'll mainly look to run this wirelessly but having the option to set up a wired connection in the future would be ideal.
>**Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?**
I'll look to run Windows 11 but I can sort this separately.
>**Extra info or particulars:**
Been browsing PCPartPicker and thought about something like this (incomplete): https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/P4Dyv3
I am looking to build this myself so any tips for this would be appreciated.
Thanks for the help :)

2023.05.30 23:42 utilitarian_wanderer Cemetery Sexton has ghosted me and won't answer my calls or emails!

I am trying to get a headstone for my father. The person who buried my father's cremains had emailed me last August stating that he would email me with headstone options ASAP (his words). That is the last I heard from him, he has basically ghosted me. After several unanswered phone calls, even spoke to his secretary, and emails, I am very frustrated. I spoke with a consumer organization that helps resolve issues like this in my state, they sent three letters to him and even called him and he has not responded to them either. I feel like I am at the point where I need to consider getting an attorney involved. Any advice on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciative. It pains me that my father has been in the ground almost a year and there is no stone to mark his place. Any thoughts about how to address this would be greatly appreciated.

2023.05.30 23:41 JC_Artist The ideal rwby rewrite

The ideal rewrite for rwby would be if they did exactly what I wanted in every possible way . For example every character that was written bad would be written good because I would do it . I believe that I could do better as one person than a whole team of writers spending years on it . And it would be really easy to , for starters , no pandering to the fans , ( well except for me I’d course , it’s not pandering if I’m the one getting what I want ) second . They would just be animated better , it’s kind of ridiculous I mean , I don’t know how animation works and my standard for what is or is not good animation seems to vary entirely on whether or not I like the show in question but ya know , I would just hit the animate better button on the computer and it would be better for sure . ( note I’m not an animator so please don’t ask me any technical questions like , what’s wrong with the animation as is , why is it bad , what is good animation , don’t worry about all that stuff ) but yeah anyway that out if the way , after I finished hitting the animate good button and the write good button I’d then proceed to adress the fans , now the easiest way to avoid fan discourse is to prevent anyone who isn’t me from ever watching the show , so it simply won’t be posted online . And finally , let’s adress the the haters in advance , first off I’m super correct , I mean look at all the other comments on here they all say the same thing . Brilliant thoughtful analysis like “ rwby is bad because it’s not good “ “ ___ ship has no chemistry because it doesn’t “ and who can forget “ animation and writing bad just cus it’s bad “ . And to those of you who ask “ why not just make your own series ? “ we’ll I’m sure you think that’s a gotcha but let me tell you , it’s not ! The reason I didn’t write the show all my own is because I didn’t have the ideas present duh , what I’m good at is lookin* at a show 9 seasons in and saying ok well I would change this one individual scene and that’s why I’m a genius . Surely my one percent contribution leads to 100 percent effort on my part . Anyway hats off to all of us critics of the show , I can’t wait for season ten to come out so I can avoid watching it , and the. Point and laugh at a perfectly normal screen and pretend it’s animated written And or just is bad . Anyone who’s objects know , like rwby , your comment disagreeing is just bad writing , because it is .

2023.05.30 23:40 Red_Tiger_Princess IDENTIFICATION MARKING DUFFEL BAG (PDF FORM)

Here is a PDF that can be utilized to help identify the owner of duffel bag that contain the clear plastic sleeve at end of bag (8485-01-604-6541), if properly filled out.
This PDF meets the requirements under AR 700-84, Sec 1-7 (22 JULY 2014) for temporary markings/identification.
Entering data in one part of form will auto-populate the second part, with exception of the bag letter.
Again this product is sized in mind for lamination. Printing out this document in actual size has tolerance for a wide laminated edge. This individual tag is sized 7.25”x4.5”, much smaller that the actual clear plastic sleeve 9-1/8”x6-1/2”.
Bag can be lettered all the way from “A-Z” in event you have many groups that require specific identification.

2023.05.30 23:39 Ok_Relationship7779 How many times can I ask the same person for a reference?

I already asked a professor for a reference twice (one for an internship-like thing and another for a job application) within the last year. I’m still in the beginning of my college career and don’t have a lot of people to ask, but this prof is one I’ve been able to work closely with. I want to apply for an internship now that requires a reference list, but I feel like asking her again would be annoying and too much.
The past two times weren’t letters (so she won’t have a letter ready, although I’m not sure if this internship will require a letter or just a call) and I know I will probably have to ask her for an actual letter for other internships, and definitely for grad school applications in the future. I also don’t want her to think that she’s the only prof I have for references, but tbh I don’t really have other references that would apply to this position. Is asking for this one worth it or should I try to reduce the amount of times I’ll have to ask the same person?

2023.05.30 23:39 DistinctBam Oh sh--. I convinced my friend group to try out WH3.

AMA Now what?

I'm in a weekly game group and we cycle through games about twice a year. I honestly adore WH3, it's fantastic and worth to at least try once. Obviously I keep yapping about how great it is, never expecting more than one to even give it an honest look any time soon.

Now all 4 of them bought the game at the same time and I don't know how to introduce them to it.

Like, how do you even coordinate a 5 player game night? Start a massive IE co-op campaign? Start a smaller map and go free-for-all? 2v2 with 1 neutral faction on the Cathay map? Multiplayer slog? Just all take Chaos?
But that's just the thing - most of them bought only WH3, no additional content. One of them followed my recommendation and bought WH2 for the high elves as a starter faction. The others will have to play with what WH3 gives you... and that's not a great selection for a beginner in the current state.

For our first run, we'll probably just go for any ol' faction that speaks to them, toggle co-op and play a few turns to get everyone up to speed on the basics. We should be enough players to outweigh the massive dip in diplomacy for the first couple of turns. No idea on what to do next.

Any ideas, tips or experiences are welcome. How to best play in a bigger group? Note that only about 1-2 people will give the tutorial a go. That's just how we roll. Cold opens to most new games.

Opinions on the deferred Parking Changes for Fall 2023??
It seems all of the petitions, protests, PowerPoint presentations, and media coverage created enough backlash for SBU to deter their Fall 2023 Plans to implement a fully-paid tiered parking system....... FOR NOW.
On May 17, the University sent a mass email to inform students, faculty, staff, residents, and commuters that there will be "no changes to the current student parking structure for Fall 2023" as the University needs to "continue discussions with stakeholders." The university also adjusted their daily metered parking rates for Lot 5 from $17.50 down to $5/day. They claim "this offers an alternative to the commuter parking premium permit for students who may not frequent the campus as often." (A copy of the statement will be attached below).
However, the Commuter Premium Permit is $112/semester. If a commuter student only visits the campus 2x per week (2 x $5/day = $10/week), and there are 16 weeks in a semester, a commuter student who ONLY visits twice a week can expect to pay $160/semester for parking ($10/week x 16 weeks = $160/semester)
I was just wondering what are your thoughts on this? Are we happy with this update? Or should we continue to push for lower commuter parking rates, considering they've historically been free? If not, should we be fighting to get these costs included in our Transportation fee considering these rates are a large out-of-pocket expense for students? LET ME KNOW :)

2023.05.30 23:36 jules99b A History of Ice Dance, From the 1950s Until Now: A Long Form Series -- Part 1

Hello all! It’s the offseason and for some reason (probably cuz I'm insane but I feel that's implied at this point) I got inspired to write up a history of my favorite figure skating discipline: ice dance. This is a project of love. I don’t pretend to be an expert in all things but I like to think my time as an ice dance fan has given me a good amount of perspective and the ability to view the current state of ice dance within the context of what has come before and what has influenced the current state of affairs. All of that said, I’ve decided to highlight eras in ice dance, mostly by Olympic cycle, to bring attention to ice dancers who have had tremendous impact on the sport as well as to appreciate how far ice dance has come in its 70-year history. I’ll be posting this on Tuesdays and Saturdays (in ET) for everyone to read and take in at their own pace to pass the offseason by. Without further ado, here’s to starting this passion project.

Part 1: Early Beginnings, 1952-1980
I debated back and forth whether to separate these years out further given the sheer amount of time covered. However, the complete lack of footage for a vast swath of the World Championships that occurred from 1952 to 1970 was the ultimate decider in realizing that those years simply needed to be included in this grouping of years in order to be worth posting. This, of course, also colors my assessment of this era. But I hope to bring an objective view to the early beginnings of ice dance.
The first World Championships for ice dance were held in 1952 in Paris, an addition 44 years in the making. Nine pairs competed in front of 7 judges for the honor of becoming the first ever World Champion in ice dance, an honor that ultimately went to the British pair of Jean Westwood and Lawrence Demmy. It’s unclear what exactly was competed at that first Worlds. The placing system simply asked the judges where they felt a couple should place, added the numbers up, and posted the standings. For example, if all 7 judges placed a couple first, the pair would have 7 points. So it’s hard to tell if more than one program was ever performed.
Although footage for this first Worlds does not exist, we are lucky that footage from Westwood/Demmy’s 1954 win in Oslo was preserved to some extent. The first thing to strike a viewer about Westwood/Demmy, beyond the fact that the music from the event was not captured, was the extended use of the Killian hold, an emphasis on synchronized leg movement and lines, as well as the slower and purposeful movement across the ice. This was early ice dance. The goal for couples in the 1950s and even 1960s was to translate ballroom of the time onto the ice as best as they could. On top of that, we see some early staples of the discipline, like close holds and synchronization, take root almost as soon as the sport could be judged.
The 1950s and 1960s featured a short period of British domination in ice dance, briefly interrupted by a 4 year span where the Czechoslovakian sibling pair of Eva Romanova and Pavel Roman took home 4 titles. Watching this pair, it becomes clear how the sport changed in a short amount of time. Romanova/Roman keep in the spirit of Westwood/Demmy before them but now feature quick changes in hold and more speed than their predecessors. Or at the very least, this is the first recorded instance where this is captured accurately. And while the music is not captured here, given the change in the style of dance, it is likely that music and tempo changes were a requirement at this early stage. This is corroborated by the first ice dance program whose music was captured, the winning program from Diane TowleBernard Ford in 1966. An interesting note in TowleFord’s program is the introduction of small lifts, spins, and Towler’s switching of positions over the ice, lying nearly flat on the ice at one point. The program features 3 music changes.
You may now be wondering how a discipline so intrinsically linked to the Soviet Union and Russia can have been left out of this write up for this long. Well, you don’t have to wait any longer. The reign of British dance came to a screeching halt in the 1969-1970 season, when an Elena Tchaikovskaya coached team of Lyudmila Pakhomova and Alexander Gorshkov earned their first world title at the 1970 Worlds. The 1969 World Silver medalists became the first in a long line of Soviet dancers to stand on the top spot.
Pakhomova/Gorshkov were primarily known for their more dramatic style. As seen prior, ice dance had been steadily becoming more athletic over the years, increasing in speed and difficulty as the years went on. Pakhomova/Gorshkov were among the 2 pairs (alongside America’s Judy SchwomeyeJames Sladky) who really emphasized the athleticism that the event could contain. On top of that, Pakhomova/Gorshkov often picked music that was dynamic and allowed Pakhomova to shine as a performer. Their style is especially apparent in the compulsory they originated, the Tango Romantica, where the dramaticism of the tango is just as important as the tango movements. This was the early stages of ice dance becoming not just a transition of ballroom onto the ice but also a performance in and of itself. SchwomeyeSladky meanwhile were a tad more traditional, adhering more closely to the origins of the sport and its roots to dance. The inventors of the Yankee Polka themselves (now I am conflicted on how I feel about them haha) featured numerous music and tempo changes in their program to cover multiple forms of dance in a short amount of time. Controversy started early in ice dance’s history, as many felt Gorshkov wasn’t as strong a skater as Pakhomova and the American pair of SchwomeyeSladky should have won in 1970. Alas, figure skating judging seems destined to generate controversy. Worth noting here, the first compulsory dance that has a record of being competed was in 1968, which makes Pakhomova/Gorshkov and SchwomeyeSladky among the first to medal with the new required dance. Also worth noting, the 70s saw a lot more variety in holds, with closed holds being the predominant hold but side by side hand holding also featured in programs along with parallel skating.
It's around this time that SchwomeyeSladky began to advocate for the inclusion of ice dance into the Olympics. In a New York Times article from 1972, Judy Schwomeyer was quoted as saying that ice dance was a different kind of sport that used different muscles but the athletes worked just as hard. The pair had skated on Olympic ice when ice dance was presented as a demonstration sport in 1968, with the IOC president in attendance to evaluate the validity of the sport for Olympic competition. They must have made a decent impression, as the IOC approved ice dance as an Olympic sport to be competed in 1976. Although SchowmeyeSladky didn’t make it to compete on the Olympic rings, their demonstration of the sport’s potential for the Olympic audience was hugely influential to the subsequent inclusion in the Olympics.
The 1976 Olympics marked the first time that ice dance would be viewed by the general public and the forerunners were Pakhomova/Gorshkov, who had won 4 world titles by this time, after not attending the 1975 Worlds. This didn’t stop them from standing on top of the Olympic podium for the first time in Olympic history. Their free dance featured numerous dance style, music, and tempo changes. These dance styles included blues/jazz and tango among others, with an emphasis on big movements that drew attention rather than necessarily strictly translating ballroom to ice. Rather, the “vibe” of the dance, so to speak, was of more import to Pakhomova/Gorshkov than performing movements that were reminiscent of ballroom choreography.
Although Pakhomova/Gorshkov were synonymous with 1970s ice dance at this point, it was the 1976 Olympic silver medalists coached by Tatiana Tarasova who appeared to have more of an impact on the dancers that came after them. Irina Moiseeva and Andrei Minenkov won the 1975 World title in Pakhomova/Gorshkov’s absence and swiftly won the 1977 World title after the Olympic champions’ retirement. Moiseeva/Minenkov were a striking pair and I feel like their programs were some of the first where really interesting stuff was happening choreographically. If Pakhomova/Gorskov emphasized the dramatic, Moiseeva/Minenkov cranked that up to an 11. If there was a time to point to when modern dance started seeping into ice dance, this is likely the pair to point to. Still under the rules of the time requiring multiple music and tempo changes, Moiseeva/Minenkov often opted for holding positions across the ice or repeating positions across the ice. Their balletic quality was in sharp contrast to the couple who had just retired as well as the other couples who had dominated in the same time. Where previous couples emphasized sharp movements, Moiseeva/Minenkov emphasized soft transitions. The style was interesting and exciting, but ultimately only won them 2 titles by the time they retired in 1982.
Instead of the aforementioned pair, it was a young Natalia Linichuk/Gennadi Karponosov, coached by Tchaikovskaya, who quickly rose up the ranks to claim 2 World titles and the 1980 Olympic title. Linichuk/Karponosov are who I like to affectionately name the most forgettable Olympic gold medalists in ice dance. Unsurprisingly given the shared coach, their style was similar to Pakhomova/Gorshkov’s, with the emphasis being on sharp, strong movements on ice and the required music changes being used to really draw attention to this (including…what I can only describe as rodeo music).
This era ultimately ended with a slight preview of what was to come. Krisztina Regoczy/Andras Sallay were the Olympic silver medalists in 1980 and decided to end their career at that year’s Worlds. The team coached by Betty Callaway had an inspired free dance, that incorporated music that was similar across the board with different speeds instead of drastically different music like their Soviet competitors. The stops necessitated by the switch in music were incorporated into the choreography to make the free dance more seamless. And while these are things we take for granted now, watching this program compared with the offering from Linichuk/Karponosov really draws these things into sharp focus as innovative for the time.
As if to emphasize a swift changing of the guard, as Regoczy/Sallay walked off the ice at the 1980 Worlds, ready to accept their sole World title and the first non-Soviet World title since 1969, a fellow student of Betty Callaway waited rinkside to congratulate Regoczy on a job well done. Her name? Jayne Torvill.

2023.05.30 23:35 zarlor Z's Ritual Apertif Alternative Review

On the nose Ritual Apertif Alternative smells of bitter orange, grapefruit and a flowery scent a tad reminiscent of mild chamomile. Neat it's bittersweet, fairly strong on the bitter side, closer to Campari than Aperol, I'd say. The citrus in this is darker, very mild and hiding a bit deeper behind the bitter sweetness of it with that floral hint still just coming through. On ice the citrus begins to stand up a little and there's a note of heat at the back of the throat I didn't notice when trying it neat but probably more acidic than peppery, even though it doesn't have any particularly tart notes on the tongue. In both cases the bitterness does linger, rather like that of an artificial sweetener, although I see on the label they are using cane sugar and nothing for any of the artificial sweetener types.
Standalone this is too bitter for my taste and honestly not that flavorful, with mostly bittersweet as the strongest note above anything, but I wouldn't normally drink an apertif neat or on the rocks by itself, anyway, so I decided to mix it into my usual Negroni with Monday Gin and M&R Vibrante, which solidly works to tame that bitterness down to a nice level. Mixed it does the job of what something like Campari would do, for the most part, adding to the bitterness but also adding some darkness to tame the brighter notes of the Vibrante (or other vermouth alternative you may care to use) and complementing the herbal/floral/pepper notes of the gin.
Overall a decent enough apertif-style drink, pushing closer to the Campari style that I think a few folks have been looking for, but outside of the bitterweet character it doesn't bring all that much more to the table for my preferences. Maybe if it pulled the citrus notes more forward or otherwise had more... well, flavor! (other than mostly just bittersweet) it would fall better into what I'm looking for, but still not a bad addition to the field and one that probably helps fill in a niche closer to Campari when most everything else is closer to emulating Aperol.
3 of 4 bottles. Middle of the road in a crowded field, but might be more in line with what the Campari crowd (rather than the Aperol crowd) might be looking for.

2023.05.30 23:34 chiisaisuzume WWE's Alexa Bliss Is Pregnant, Expecting First Baby With Husband Ryan Cabrera

A little more than a year after tying the knot, Alexa Bliss and Ryan Cabrera are heading into a new chapter: The WWE star and the singer are expecting their first baby.
Alexa Bliss and Ryan Cabrera are still on the way down from celebrating their latest high.
A little more than one year after tying the knot, the WWE star and the "True" singer are expecting their first baby, the couple exclusively tells E! News. As Alexa shared, the pair were "shocked" when they found out they were expecting earlier this year.
"It was a total surprise, as we weren't trying at all," the professional wrestler, 31, noted. As for Ryan, 40, he explained that though they were "one million percent surprised," the couple simply "couldn't be more excited."
"We Facetimed my mom immediately," Alexa added. "And then shared the news with Ryan's family."
As for how the couple—who got married in April 2022 after more than two years of dating—celebrated the big news with those closest to them?
"Because we have friends and family on both coasts, we hosted a reveal party in L.A.," Ryan shared, "and one in Orlando."
But the fun didn't stop there, as the two—whose baby is expected to arrive this December—decided to also share a peek at their exciting journey with fans in a special way.
"We shot a video with our friend Neil Fernandez, which is a spoof of the Friends episode where Rachel tells Ross she's expecting," the "On the Way Down" artist explained. "Friends is one of our favorite shows and, as you saw with our prom video, we like to make our announcements in unique and fun ways."
And if you're wondering whether Alexa has had to wrestle with any food cravings so far, she has—with two dishes in particular winning her heart. "Macaroni & Cheese," she said, "and French Fries."

2023.05.30 23:34 MyVoiceforPeople Debt From a Card My Mother Opened

My mother opened a credit card with Capital One YEARS ago, it has about $4000. I did not know about this until recently and when confronted she said she would start paying it and take care of it for me. I received a letter today that nothing was paid towards the amount, multiple letters were sent out (I never recieved one) and that my local court is now involved and someone can now seize my properties in the amount owed.
Can somebody please point me in the right direction, how do I fix this? I don't want to report my mother for using my personal details as what she did was against the law. I have been working hard on my credit and this is just very disappointing. Is there a better way? What kind of properties can I expect them to start taking, i'm in Texas. TIA

2023.05.30 23:34 Milo_Fannin Social politics of Radical Centrism/ Big Tent Politics and the Middle Ground Fallacy

I have been monitoring this Subreddit for nearly a year and have noted some interesting rhetoric that comes from this party as well as others that promote "third-wayism". The notion that both parties are equally bad or that there are compromises that makes sense between intrinsic wrong or right is a fallacious opinion that has existed for centuries. The Missouri Compromise, for example, is a "compromise" between inherent right and wrong, slavery and not. In that way it is not a compromise at all.
Similarly, I have seen people try to equate the culture war of the GOP to any and all social politics of the Democratic party. The notion that there is anything of compromise between "simple human decency and liberty" and "artificial claims of indoctrination or infiltration" is ridiculous.
It is fine to dislike the established parties but do not try to justify your placement between the two due to conservative culture-war politics. They have always manufactured this type of scare when they do not have a popular social agenda.
They did it in the 1920s, claiming booze caused all the world's ills
They did it in the 1930s, claiming weed made you murderous (mostly to justify action against mexicans)
They did it in the 1950s, claiming the government was overrun with communists
They did it in the 1970s, claiming gays were destroying the family unit
They did it in the 1980s, claiming that Satanism was on the rise and corrupting the youth
They did it in the 1990s, claiming video games made people violent
And they do it today, because their stance of not supporting gay marriage is seen as too much a government overreach today they instead manufacture support around non-issues by using either one-in-a-million examples (which in of itself is a hasty generalization fallacy) or falsely attributing attitudes of individuals to whole groups (Composition Fallacy). This attitude is seen in many people who say things like "I don't have a problem with gay people but they are trying to force it on everyone/ force it on kids."
Feel free to discuss this but it is something that has always been annoying about third parties.

2023.05.30 23:33 chemie99 Memory Benchmarking on AM5: Sleep Anomaly: AMD or MB specific issue?

In my testing, I see a large difference in memory benchmark performance numbers when comparing a fresh boot bench to a "wake from sleep" bench. Have others tested these two scenarios and seen differences?
I am looking to understand if this is a AM5 wide issue or specific to certain MB vendors on how they implement sleep and memory support in BIOS for OC memory scenarios. Is this only an Asus thing? I recall Asrock had sleep disabled at launch due to memory restore issues but I think they fixed it. It seems like some memory settings are not being set right on waking; AGESA issue? BIOS specific?
Test Setup and results:: Fresh boot, OCCT memory combined=1700. Wake from sleep =1300. Mostly driven by read performance drop (from ~1500 to ~1250). Hibernate does not have the same drop. MCR On/Off and MPD On/Off no effect. Specs for reference: Asus B650EF, 7700x, 6000cl30 Hynix memory with BZ sub timings. Bios 0821 and 1616 tested on latest chipset drivers.
Note to Mods: This is not a tech support post. I am looking for a discussion on benchmarking done on AM5, how sleep impacts those benchmarks, and looking to understand if this is AM5 or MB vendor issue.

2023.05.30 23:33 callmemavrick43 Is it a bad idea to leave a note from the seller to potential buyers?

Our home is currently on the market. We’ve received feedback from several agents that their clients loved our house, it’s perfectly priced, but were concerned about the “area”.
There is a trailer park directly across the road from our house. You can’t see it from our property as we’ve lined our property with privacy trees and fencing. My spouse feels like we should leave a note in the house addressing this to potential buyers.
Backstory…the park was built within 6 months of us buying the home. We had no idea when we bought the house and were very upset when we discovered the plans because “who would want to live right next to a trailer park?” We’ve lived there for 10 years and honestly haven’t had any issues from the park or the residents. TBH, several residents have helped look out for our place when we’ve been on vacation or away. But I totally understand someone’s apprehension about buying a $350,000 home (3,500 sq feet with 7 acres) if they feel that it’s an undesirable area.
Would a letter to potential buyers stating all of the above be beneficial? Or would it be best to let it go and trust that the proper buyers will come along.

2023.05.30 23:33 cheezhaed Help wanted! E cuni or something else?

Hi everyone,
We need some help with our 5 year-old bunny. A couple of days ago she started to be a bit more wobbly and she fell over sometimes when we put her down again after we picked her up. Note here. More then a week ago (Saturday) I picked her up to bring her inside from the balcony. She rolled over in my arms and she accidentally fell. She ran back to her room (yes, they have their own room) and sat in the corner for a bit before starting to eat, drink and act like her normal self again, so we didn't think that she suffered any serious damage, else we would have noticed.
Yesterday evening she would still jump in and out of her cage with little issues, albeit a bit more careful, but we noticed she was more wobbly and would fall over after we picked her up and put her down again, but got back up fairly quick after that. I called the vet yesterday evening anyway and they told us to come in today. This morning, we gave both our buns some food and she came running for it like she always does, even gave me a little nudge because I was probably in the way or something. So not really showing a lot of signs of anything wrong.
Today she spent all day at the vets. I got a call this morning that she was showing neurological symptoms. She tilts her head and rolls over to one side when picked up and she would slip away with her hind legs and fall over when they examined her. She also told me that her behind was wet. She told me she thought of an E. Cuni infection and wanted to send some urine to the lab. We will get the result of that test next monday probaby. Later in the day I called them again. She told me that the urine was cloudy white and they did an ultrasound (I'm not sure if they used an anesthesia) which showed she suffered from bladder sludge. She told me she now wanted to wait out the result of the E cuni test before starting treatment, if it were to be positive. They gave her pain meds for now and she got to go home. They told us we had to put her on a low cal diet.
So, here we are now. She is on cage rest at the moment in another room as the other bunny to keep her comfortable and stress free. She is drinking water from a bowl, but she is not eating hay (sidenote: it's a different kind/brand than what she is used to and she can be very picky) or the science selective. We force fed her some mashed up science selective about an hour ago. When we picked her up from the cage to do that she tilted her head and rolled her body to one side. Not a nice thing to see. She tried escaping from the couch (which is not that high), but fell over immediately after she hit the floor.
She is in her cage again resting as we speak
We are just not sure what to do here or what this could be.... Could it be a thing from the fall (after almost a week of not showing symptoms?) or could it be E. Cuni and should we ask for treatment from the vet anyway? They said we should call her if symptoms got a bit worse.
Any help is appreciated!
