[Event] 52 Stars and 104 Senators?

2023.06.02 01:11 SloaneWulfandKrennic [Event] 52 Stars and 104 Senators?

The United States has had 50 States, 50 Stars on its flag, and 100 Senators since 1959 when Alaska and Hawaii became states. This, however, will likely soon change. With a Democratic-controlled House, Senate, and Presidency and an enfeebled Republican and Patriot party, two long-standing territorial questions can be resolved: Should the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico become states?
The Democratic Party has been interested in turning these two into states for mostly electoral reasons and with a few ideological or sympathetic motivations mixed in. DC is a guaranteed Democratic bastion while Puerto Rico, although more of a mixed bag since the current Resident Commissioner is a Republican after all, presents a decent political opportunity now that the Republican party has fractured. The House Democrats, under the leadership of Hakeem Jeffries, Speaker of the House, have drafted and approved two bills to start the process of them becoming states.
The process of making them into states is simple enough in theory, all it takes is a simple majority vote by the House and Senate, no supermajority or supreme court approval required. And for DC, the process is also simple on the ground; there is no independence movement for the capital of the United States, nor major calls for a commonwealth, corruption scandals, debt control boards, or questions about the customs union. For Puerto Rico, however, the situation is a tad more complex.
A referendum in DC is as simple as “Statehood or Status Quo”, with the almost guaranteed choice being the status quo. In Puerto Rico, meanwhile, for the referendum to have any legitimacy there will need to be multiple options and either a ranked-choice system or a runoff to avoid accusations of splitting the non-statehood vote.
The first bill, passed along party lines voting in both houses, creates a binding referendum to be held in the District of Columbia for all citizens who live there permanently. It will take place in three months and present an option for statehood and an option for the status quo.
The second bill, more contentious than the first, creates another binding referendum, this time for Puerto Rico. This referendum will use a ranked-choice voting system, with the following options: statehood, gradual independence, the status quo, and a commonwealth arrangement. This bill was passed in the House with a few Democratic Senators dissenting due to claims that the bill still splits the vote against statehood. However, although not needed, a few Republican House members voted for the bill after Jenniffer Gonzales, Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico and a Republican, endorsed the bill. They also figured that the Hispanic population of the US may continue to grow conservative, presenting possible political gains. In the Senate, it was a similar situation, with a few Democrats dissenting and a few Republicans joining in, with the Patriot party voting firmly against the bill in both houses. This referendum will also take place in 3 months.
(Expect a second post about this when I can do that)

2023.06.02 01:02 AJAskey Reality of Current Debt Ceiling Bill

There is no debt ceiling though 2025. This means the Treasury can sell infinite bonds and create a slush fund of $10-50T.
The stupid Republicans believe they can vote against appropriations bills. So what? For how long? Trillions will be in the slush fund and will be approved at some point in time for spending.

2023.06.02 01:02 theblackmamiya Seeking Advice: EU Settlement Scheme Refusal - Next Steps and Spouse Visa Concerns

I need advice on an issue I'm facing regarding EUSS or spouse visa,
Here's some background information: I've been living in a European country for the past six years as a non-EU national. I'm married to an EU citizen from Ireland.
Our relationship began in January 2018 when we were both students. At that time, I rented an apartment and my partner rented a shared apartment. After completing our studies in the summer of 2019, my partner moved into my place in September. While he was preparing for a medical exam and I was preparing for a doctorate, we never officially added his name to the leasing contract. However, our landlady was aware of both of us living there and had no objections.
During this time, we were still students and never ‘formally’ shared bills, a leasing contract, or a joint bank account. However, I obtained a visa to visit Ireland, and my partner's father’s name was listed on the visa as the person I was visiting. So, we had some evidence of our relationship in this regard, but not enough in terms of having leasing contracts, shared bills, or a joint bank account. Additionally, my partner received official letters addressed to both of us at our shared address, and occasionally his father sent us physical letters with both our names on them.
In April 2020, my partner moved to the UK to work as a doctor, and due to the pandemic, we were unable to see each other for a year. I also began my doctorate studies during this time. It's important to note that he moved to the UK before the milestone date of December 2020, which is significant for EU Settlement Scheme applications. We got married in August 2022 (not in the UK), and I obtained a tourist visa in July 2022, allowing me to visit the UK for six months. I visited my partner multiple times, but my visa expired in January of this year.
Initially, we considered the regular visa application path, which required a substantial amount of money. However, I discovered the EU Settlement Scheme, which seemed like a potential option for us. Since my partner is an Irish citizen and had already moved to the UK before December 2020, he registered for pre-settled status and received it promptly (within two weeks). Following that, I applied for the EU Settlement Scheme on March 6, provided my biometrics on March 12, and submitted the required documents such as our passports, marriage certificate, photos of us together, travel itineraries, flight tickets, physical letters (stamped and dated), my motivation letter, and a letter from my husband as my sponsor.
After four weeks, I received a letter from the Home Office requesting my husband's previous passport to verify his EU national status prior to 2021 (His current passport was issued for renewal in 2021). I promptly sent the requested document, hoping it would strengthen our case. However, on May 24, I received a refusal letter from the Liverpool Visa Section stating that they were not convinced of our 'durable partnership' before 2020. I acknowledge that my initial application was weak, as I didn't provide enough evidence.
Now, we are at a crossroads. We are considering either reapplying for the EU Settlement Scheme from scratch or including additional documents such as chat histories from WhatsApp, Skype, and iMessage, more photos, letters from British friends who can testify to our relationship since 2018, my husband's previous leasing contract when he lived with a flatmate, a letter from my landlord confirming our cohabitation for a specific period, and our diplomas as proof of our student status and graduation.
Alternatively, we could apply for the regular visa path, which is expensive and requires similar documentation.
My questions are:
  1. If I reapply for the EU Settlement Scheme with these additional documents, is it likely to be granted?
  2. If I am rejected again under the EU Settlement Scheme, will it affect my future spouse visa application and its outcome?
I understand that there may not be definitive answers to these questions, but I would greatly appreciate any advice, experiences, or knowledge that could help us navigate this situation and the application process.

2023.06.02 01:00 myhappyspace Time management and me getting triggered when it’s suggested. Can I time management work for me? I just want to give up

Hi everyone, first time poster here.
(I apologize for any typos and the long post) I honestly hope that I don’t sound insensitive to anyone where time management works for them. It just doesn’t work for me.
I recently found out that ADHD is considered under the disability service at my college and I was actually happy.
I didn’t bring in paperwork from my psychiatrist (b/c my psychiatrist that I previously had was neglectful and I’m currently seeing a new one next week that’s kind and on it when it comes to their patients). I let the person I was meeting with know and she said typically they don’t need the paperwork; it helps, but if a student can provide and articulate their own symptoms and what they need, that would work just fine.
I stated on the paperwork that my symptoms are difficulties with executive functioning, I have a hard time with processing information and applying it to my class work. I get anxiety with test taking and getting assignments in on time. And the person I had the meeting with just focused on the anxiety with test taking and they let me know that I could have “time and a half” which would give me 30 extra minutes on my test and I could test in a private room. they said how does that sound? I smiled and said that would be helpful and as I started to sign the paperwork I asked them would I be able to get extended time with turning in assignments? They said well it depends, we can’t really do that because it depends on the professors, it’s a case by case situation. so if I was having a stressful week where my ADHD symptoms were heightened that she could email my professor to ask for extended time. They offered meeting with a counselor to work and get coached on my time management skills and I felt myself almost about to cry and I just breathed through it and smiled again and said yeah that could be helpful. And that was it.
College is honestly very much a drag, It’s not paying for my bills, it’s not helping me clean my home, it’s not helping me with my mental health. It’s literally making my life worse.
College school work always gets pushed on the back burner. I work two jobs and am living in a very cluttered home because all of my time either goes to coping by watching YouTube videos that make me happy or tv shows.
When I work both jobs in one day I’m literally doing school work on the clock all the time, I get home and I just want to die. Then I do it all over again, until I have my three days off where I’m just coping and mitigating the symptoms of depression, anxiety, ADHD, sometimes I’ll just get nonverbal. I can’t do anything else. I can’t even keep in contact with my friends, which I don’t really mind, I have a problem of becoming friends with people who only want and take from me, use me as there entertainment for the day. thankfully I live with my mom but it’s bittersweet and she at least understands (sometimes) my symptoms but she’ll also say just set yourself up for success. Yet how can? I can’t stick with it.
I’ve tried time management, I’ve bought the books, I’ve watched the videos, I’ve talked with my therapist, I’ve time blocked my days, I’ve set the alarms, I’ve don’t the song and dance.
“Just try harder” “Try it for a week and see” “Use Google calendar, that helps me” “Just do time management skills, and stick with it”
I honestly get triggered when people suggest time management to set myself up for success because it’s been such a struggle for me.
What’s the point anymore. This is just literal hell to me.
Sadly I’ve bullied myself to stick with my time management and when I screw up I ridicule myself even more for not being able to “handle doing time management” because other people can do it so why can’t I?
I just don’t know what to do? Should I talk to my new psychiatrist about having issues with getting assignments in? As well as talk to them about breaking down my tasks into reasonable accommodations for myself? My therapist is moving so I asked my therapist if there were any therapist that specialize in ADHD mitigation and she found one for me so maybe I can work with them on alternative ways of making time management work for me and my own capabilities?
Thank you for taking the time to read and if you have any suggestions please let me know.

2023.06.02 00:57 Consistent_Lab_9443 My Family Won't Help Because I'm TransFem and have a Girlfriend

So I tried to post this on the AITA subreddit, but I guess there was something wrong with the story because it would get instant removed, anyways, when IW as A kid I broke my back and several other body parts in a car crash, I now have chronic issues, mostly pertaining to my back, making it hard to work regular jobs, so I work odd jobs like Doordash for a few hours whenever the pain isn't too bad while I wait for my application for disability to go through.
Unfortunately this has left me behind on some bills, and facing eviction as those odd jobs aren't bringing in enough to pay off old bills before new bills pile up, and so I asked my brother who makes quite a lot from working as a plumber if he'd be willing to help me and I would pay him back over time, and he said he'd think about, a few days later I was being bombarded with calls and texts from family basically saying that I wasn't going to get help because I turned my back on my family. I wasn't exactly sure what they where talking about since this was the first id heard of my apparent familial betrayal.
So I asked what they meant, and they said that I lost the support of my family the second I came out as transgender and started dating my current gf. I asked if they had a problem with my gf, and they said no, they just had a problem with me being MTF and dating her. Now I lack anyone's support and face a most certain eviction and subsequent homelessness. So like... What the heck should I have done different, and what should I do?

2023.06.02 00:51 AutoModerator Here's How To Watch The Little Mermaid (Free) Online ON Reddit

‘The Little Mermaid’ is finally here. Find out how to watch Disney's latest live-action adaptation animated film The Little Mermaid online for free.
Watch Now: The Little Mermaid 2023 Movie Online Free
Animated Film! Here are options for downloading or watching The Little Mermaid streaming the full movie online for free on 123movies & Reddit, including where to watch Disney's latest live-action adaptation movies at home. Is The Little Mermaid 2023 available to stream? Is watching The Little Mermaid on Peacock, Disney Plus, HBO Max, Netflix or Amazon Prime? Yes, we have found an authentic streaming option/service.
The new live-action 'The Little Mermaid' movie stars Halle Bailey and Melissa McCarthy. Make sure to keep on reading to learn where you can watch and stream it.
Folks, it's time to dive under the sea once again. Over the last few years, Disney has recreated their top animated musical films into live-action movies. The Little Mermaid is no different, and viewers can't wait to swim into theaters to catch a glimpse of how the movie will stand up against the original version.
Walt Disney Studios has established a remarkable trend of making live-action remakes of its classic stories. One after the other, all the fairytales of the past era are being brought to life by the studio in an attempt to tell the magical stories in a new light of living characters. With the live-action Peter Pan & Wendy due out in April, Disney will continue their string of live-action remakes a month later with The Little Mermaid.
Get ready to go "under the sea!" The latest of Disney's hugely successful line of live-action remakes, Ariel (Halle Bailey) is set to return to theaters for the first time in almost thirty-five years with The Little Mermaid (2023). The Walt Disney Company once again invites audiences to travel under the sea to see Princess Ariel's story unfold like never before. Featuring direction from veteran musical filmmaker Rob Marshall and other roles inhabited by major Hollywood stars like Melissa McCarthy as Ursula the Sea Witch and Javier Bardem as King Triton, the film is bound to be a bona fide hit at the box office.
Though the upcoming and highly anticipated film will have stiff competition against two stand-up comedians on the weekend it releases, The Little Mermaid is destined to show that life is better down where it's wetter under the sea this Summer movie season. To find showtimes and streaming information on Disney's latest big-budget reimagining of an animated classic, here is where you can watch The Little Mermaid.
Actress Halle Bailey as Ariel, the iconic mermaid princess who longs to be part of the the mysteriously world housed above the ocean floor. When she saves the handsome Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King) from a shipwreck, she makes a deal with the sea witch Ursula (Melissa McCarthy) in order to gain human legs and go on land to impress him. But there's one catch to the transaction: Ariel must trade her voice in order for her to try and see the things she's after. But as fans of the original 1989 film know, this comes with a series of consequences that threaten both her existence and the lives of those she loves.
Before we ask if you're interested in seeing this, we know you are. But like us, you're probably wondering how to watch and stream The Little Mermaid online. Luckily, we have some clues and it's likely to land on a major streaming site very soon. So climb aboard, because here's where to watch and stream The Little Mermaid online.
What Is the Release Date for The Little Mermaid?
Ariel's quest to go from a mermaid into a human begins anew when The Little Mermaid premieres this Memorial Day Weekend on Friday, May 26th, 2023. The film will be going up against not one, but two stand-up comedians and their films that weekend, with Sebastian Maniscalco's About My Father and Bert Kreischer's The Machine premiering on the same day. That said, The Little Mermaid will almost certainly be the choice for younger audiences and families.
While some Disney films are heading straight to Disney+, The Little Mermaid will first be shown exclusively in theaters.
Where To Watch The Little Mermaid Online:
As of now, the only way to watch Fast X is to head out to a movie theater when it premieres on May 26, 2023. You can find a local showing on Fandango.
Watch Now: The Little Mermaid (2023) Movie Online Free
Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait for it to become available to rent or purchase on digital platforms like Amazon, Vudu, YouTube or Apple, or become available to stream on Disney+.
How to Watch The Little Mermaid
At the moment, you can watch The Little Mermaid at your local theater. But like most movies these days, it should hit a streaming website in the near future.
Like its predecessor, The Little Mermaid is a flick produced by multimedia conglomerate Disney. What's more, the production studio owns a number of other famous franchises, like the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars. Titles made under these umbrellas have both hit Disney+ sometime after arriving at the box office. Fans may also know the original Little Mermaid is currently available to stream on the site as well. So, if the 2023 version follows the same pattern, folks will likely get to see The Little Mermaid on Disney+ later this year too.
As for an exact release date for The Little Mermaid, that's more complicated. Most movies produced by Disney often go to its streamer site within three months after debuting in theaters, like the most recent Marvel film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. If this is the case for The Little Mermaid, it will probably drop in late August 2023 or sometime near Labor Day in early September.
When the time comes for The Little Mermaid to splash onto Disney+ though, make sure you're all prepared to watch it. If you don't have access yet, you can opt into a 30-day free trial before choosing a plan that start at $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year. After your account is all set, click on the title page on Disney+'s official website or the Disney+ app.
As you wait for The Little Mermaid to hit the streamer, why don't you watch the animated version and its sequel The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea? Or if you want to immerse yourself in another live-action version, click on the 2019 ABC TV special The Little Mermaid Live!. Enjoy!
Will The Little Mermaid Be in Theaters or on Streaming?
Unlike several of Disney's other live-action remakes such as Pinocchio and Peter Pan & Wendy, The Little Mermaid will be exclusively in movie theaters first with tickets available for pre-sale now.
After The Little Mermaid has completed its exclusive theatrical run, the film will be released on the Disney+ streaming service. Based on Disney's past release models, the film won't be made available to stream before 45 to 90 days after its theatrical release.
When will The Little Mermaid be streaming on Disney+?
The Little Mermaid Disney+ premiere date is tentatively estimated to be August 30, 2023.
While no official Little Mermaid streaming date has been confirmed by Disney, most of its major movie releases drop on Disney+ following a minimum 90-day period, and typically premiere on the platform on Wednesdays, making Wednesday, August 30 the most likely date for Disney’s The Little Mermaid live-action streaming release.
Will The Little Mermaid Be Streaming On Disney+?
The 2023 version of The Little Mermaid will only be in theaters initially. After The Little Mermaid has completed its exclusive theatrical run, it is likely to stream on Disney Plus. You can also watch the animated version of Hans Christian Andersen's 1837 fairy tale of Ariel on Disney Plus now.
While you will only be able to catch the new "The Little Mermaid" in theaters starting next Friday, you can still sign up for Disney+ now to refresh yourself on the characters, song, plot and magical fun from the highly anticipated film. The 1989 version of the movie was a catalyst for Disney's animation renaissance throughout the '90s and it still holds up today.
An ad-supported Disney+ subscription starts at $8 per month, but you can get an ad-free access to the service for $11 monthly or bundle the Disney streaming service with Hulu and ESPN+ starting at $13 per month. Disney+ boasts a huge collection of movies and television series, including Marvel and Star Wars content. If you add in Hulu and ESPN, you have nearly unlimited entertainment at your fingertips.
Is The Little Mermaid streaming on Netflix?
No, The Little Mermaid will not be on Netflix — at least not any time soon. In the meantime, you’ll just have to head out to a movie theater or wait for it to become available to stream on Disney+.
Will The Little Mermaid Be On HBO Max?
No, The Little Mermaid will not be on HBO Max since it’s not a Universal Pictures movie. Last year, the company released its films in theaters and on the streamer on the same day. However, they now allow a 45-day window between the theatrical release and the streaming release.
Is The Little Mermaid Available On Hulu?
Viewers are saying that they want to view the new animation movie The Little Mermaid on Hulu. Unfortunately, this is not possible since Hulu currently does not offer any of the free episodes of this series streaming at this time. It will be exclusive to the MTV channel, which you get by subscribing to cable or satellite TV services. You will not be able to watch it on Hulu or any other free streaming service.
How to Watch The Little Mermaid Online For Free?'

There are a few ways to watch The Little Mermaid online in the U.S. You can use a streaming service such as Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime Video. You can also rent or buy the movie on iTunes or Google Play. You can also watch it on-demand or on a streaming app available on your TV or streaming device if you have cable.
The Little Mermaid Cast and Characters
The Little Mermaid was written by David Magee and directed by Rob Marshall. It stars the following actors:
What is The Little Mermaid About?
The official synopsis for The Little Mermaid by Walt Disney Studios read:
“The Little Mermaid” is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy.
There is not much mystery in The Little Mermaid's plot. As seen in Disney's many other live-action remakes, it is anticipated that the film's plot will largely stick to the original. With the well-known song "Part of Your World," in which Ariel sings about her wish to be a part of the world beyond the water, i.e., the human realm, the teaser already alluded to Ariel's fascination with the human world. Fans will get to see Ariel and Prince Eric's romance as they deal with the challenges posed by their differences.

2023.06.02 00:50 frenchpipewrench Opinions on Offer?

Need your advice on a deal to return to an old firm.
For context I’m mid 20’s male have been in the industry since 2020 and have CFP. Started out at a solo practitioner where I was back office/ paraplanne fix it guy. Really enjoyed my time there but ultimately left to set my sights on greener pastures and work at a larger ensemble firm as I sought out an advisor track.
For the last year, I have been in an associate level role where I have much more (daily) client contact but am not in the primary advice giving chair. I’ve learned a bunch about the soft side of the business. Ultimately, I enjoy the ppl I work with a lot and am well liked and considered a great talent within the firm but will not be given a junior advisor role for at least two more years.
My old solo practitioner wants me back and is willing to carve out a path for me continue to service his clients at a higher base pay than current but this is likely only 20-25 hrs/ week of work. With the remaining time, I can use this to formulate my marketing plan and begin to build out my niche (still TBD) and COI relationships while hopefully servicing some next gen clients of the firm.
Below is the comp structure he laid out:
Base: $80K which includes 3% Firm Revenue Share (variable component of base changes with quarterly billing, so as firm assets rise, base comp rises)
Revenue Share for my clients (zero currently) :⠀⠀⠀
$0-10M 30% / 70%
$10-20M 40% / 60%
$20-30M 50% / 50%
$30-40M 60% / 40%
$40-50M 70% / 30%
$50M+ 80% / 20%
Once I move up a tier, the new percentage applies to my entire AUM. The advisor at the solo practitioner and I have a very good relationship and he wants me to be his succession plan in case he gets hit by a bus, which is a whole other story. I have no producing experience but I believe that I can stick around long enough to make something happen and am definitely a self starter. Not discounting how incredibly difficult it will all be though. No doubt that it will take much longer than I think.
However, this seems like a pretty fair arrangement, no?

While many countries now offer bank payments in the blink of an eye, moving funds between accounts in the US can still take days. Electronic platforms such as PayPal Holdings Inc.’s Venmo and Block Inc.’s Cash App offer various workarounds to speed up the process, but they are essentially intermediaries that interface with the slow banking system. Now the Federal Reserve has created a high-speed transportation lane that allows for bank transfers within seconds. Here’s what you need to know about the new service, FedNow, which launches in July.
  1. Why are US bank payments so slow? Transfers using the Automated Clearing House — the legacy system invented in the 1970s — can take days to complete, partly because it lumps transactions together and processes them at specific intervals. Newer instant-payment tools like Venmo are fine when you’re doing something like buying a hot dog or sending cash to a friend who uses the same app. But when you want to pull money back off those platforms, the funds grind their way through the legacy banking system before they show up in your account. The same thing happens when you receive a paycheck or pay a utility bill. A survey by American Banker in 2021 found that 21% of consumers had abandoned a financial transaction or account opening because it took too long. The current slow transfers often lead to late fees for missed bill payments or penalties for overdrafts. So for the millions of Americans who live paycheck to paycheck, the delays can be costly.
  2. Why can’t banks solve the problem themselves? All the income from those overdraft and other fees meant banks had little incentive to come up with a faster solution on their own. A bank can also temporarily sweep transfer funds held overnight into short-term securities to earn a yield. US banks have the right to hold your money for as long as 10 days for the purpose of making sure it is not the proceeds of a crime. A group of big US banks did come up with a rapid-settlement platform of their own, known as real-time payments, or RTP, but have marketed it mainly to business customers because they already offer a peer-to-peer system called Zelle for consumers. While this is sold to consumers as a real-time transfer service, in some instances the transfers are settled over the legacy batch system and the banks in effect extend short-term credit until those payments settle.
  3. How will FedNow work? FedNow will offer instantaneous payments from one bank account to another 24/7, all year round. Because payment occurs instantly, customers will know right away if the transfer has completed or failed. The person receiving the funds will be able to use them almost instantly. The flip side is that, unlike a check, you can’t put a hold on a FedNow payment or cancel it. Once you’ve made that payment, the money is gone for good. And unlike a credit card, there are no rewards, points or fraud protection.
  4. What are the fees for using FedNow? Payments will cost a few cents, but it’s not clear who will pick up the tab — the bank or the customer. With ACH, it’s often the bank that pays the fees unless the customer is making a large number of payments.
  5. How can I sign up for FedNow? You can’t, as there won’t be a FedNow consumer app. First your bank will need to sign up to use the system and plug it into the back end of its own banking website or app.
  6. Will this kill providers like Venmo or Cash App? That’s certainly not the goal: The Fed has always said consumers are best served by a competitive payments landscape with multiple players. FedNow will both complement and compete with existing electronic payment systems. Almost 10,000 US banks and credit unions will be able to join and use FedNow, giving the country’s patchwork of regional lenders and credit unions a better chance of vying for payments business against giant banks and financial technology firms.
  7. Is the US leading the way here? Europe’s Single Euro Payments Area already allows instant payments across 36 countries, while the UK introduced instant payments in 2008. One limitation of FedNow is that it doesn’t allow for “pull” transactions in which utilities, phone companies or other service providers can trigger a payment from a customer account on an agreed date, a capability that makes it easier for those businesses to manage their cash flow.
  8. How soon will my bank offer FedNow? Fed officials expect the adoption to be slow and gradual, and it could be many months before FedNow shows up on a bank’s website or app. While there were just over 100 banks in a FedNow pilot program, there’s no obligation to use the service and it’s not known how many will choose to do so.
  9. Will FedNow invade my privacy? Since this will be a bank-operated system, the same privacy infrastructure that exists around other payment systems will apply. Like it or not, your basic information is all over your non-cash payments, from your credit cards to your bank checks, which have a lot of information about you written right on them. If you want more privacy, stick with dollar bills.
  10. Is FedNow a step toward a digital currency? Various commentators on social media have suggested FedNow is a scheme to phase out physical cash or part of a plan to introduce an official, government-backed digital currency to replace the dollar. (Some politicians, including long-shot Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., have seized on some of those talking points, while Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has railed against the idea of a central bank digital currency in the US.) The Fed denies this, saying the new payments service will simply be a faster way to move deposits and that it will continue to provide notes and coins for those who still want to use cash. The people most responsible for the declining use of hard currency are consumers themselves. Commercial payments in cash dropped to about 20% in the pandemic year of 2020 from 30% in 2017.

2023.06.02 00:34 xtremexavier15 TSWT 26 (pt 2)

The episode resumed with a shot of the Final Two holding the effigies their helpers had made as Chef wheeled the person formerly in a hazmat suit in a wheelchair, their suit traded in for a full body cast.
Izzy spoke up. "Are we actually going to throw our dummies into an active volcano without any safety? That sounds lethal, even for me."
"As the saying goes, 'No excruciating pain, no million dollar gain'," Chris told her, pulling out a briefcase as a reminder then promptly tossing it away. "To help you get those dummies to the top of the volcano, you can use the rewards your teams earned on your behalf in the Aftermath Lava Surfing challenge," he continued.
"Ezekiel won a wheelbarrow. Too bad he's out," he said, the camera panning the host at the base of the volcano as the wheelbarrow rolled down next to the host, "but Alejandro gets a baby stroller," the stroller rolled down next to the wheelbarrow, "and Izzy gets diddly squat."
"What?" Mal gaped.
"Mal," Chris said, "for winning the effigy challenge, you get a twenty-second head start. So, get going!"
"Toodles," Mal said, running off with the wooden statue in his arms.
"At least this dummy's light," Izzy said, carrying it in her arms.
Mal tossed his dummy into his baby stroller as soon as he came to Chris, then ran up the slope chuckling as it did not break.
Chris watched him go with his usual smile, then turned to watch Izzy as she walked up. "Shouldn't I have the wheelbarrow if Ezekiel's not competing?" Izzy said.
"Sure, why not?" Chris said, watching Izzy put her dummy in her wheelbarrow and push it up the hill.
The scene cut to Mal running up the mountainside path at a decent rate. "It's been a long ride," he told himself, "but I'm going to claim the prize and live life comfortably!"
The camera panned down to Izzy, still pushing her effigy up the slope and panting heavily. "Why am I getting tired now of all places?" she said to herself.
"Having trouble?" Mal called out mockingly. "Maybe if you continue to run like a freak of nature, you might get to the top in time to see me win the money. But I doubt it!" he laughed, running off again.
The path soon leveled off, he passed a few bushes, then saw what was ahead and frantically skidded to a halt. He stopped right on the edge of a bubbling lava pool. "What the inferno?" he asked, the camera getting an overhead shot of the lava right before it flared up, forcing Mal to dive away with his rather flammable dummy.
Chris chuckled off-screen, and the camera zoomed out to show him and Chef standing on the other side of the lava lake. "Yoo hoo, over he~ere!" he called in a light and airy voice, waving to the malice filled man. A series of stepping stones spanned the gap between the two sides, but hanging over it from a large wooden frame were several heavy objects: from the left to right were a log, a grand piano, a safe, a simple weight, a purple armchair, a metal cage, and a bomb. The ropes holding the objects in the air ran along the framework and down to a structure near Chris and Chef, where each individual rope was tied around a long log.
"Check out the look on his face," Chris told his assistant as the camera zoomed in on them and the two men high-fived.
Izzy finally arrived at the other end of the lava pool, stopping when she saw it. "Now what?" she said in awed disbelief.
"The only way to the top of the volcano," Chris said as the camera panned across a close-up of the stepping stones, "is past this river of lava," he pointed down at the bubbling rock as the camera reached him again. "Those rewards probably won't be too helpful," he added, Mal and Izzy frowning as they stood by with their respective dummies.
"All you have to do is hop across these stepping stones," the host continued, moving over closer to the end of the path. "Easy-peasy, hot and cheesy!" he said as the lava flared up again. "Buu~uut," he added impishly as the camera panned across the hanging objects, "we've rigged a few booby traps to, that's right!"
"Make things more interesting," the two finished in annoyance.
"Chef," Chris turned to his assistant, "a booby demo, if you please!"
Chef took out a machete then turned around and chopped the first rope. The freed end quickly slid back through the wooden frame, and the log dropped onto the first stepping stone, broke, and fell into the lava with a burst of flame and a splatter of molten rock. Izzy raised an eyebrow and Mal gasped in surprise.
"Yeah, you really don't want to get hit by those," Chris told them. "Your helpers can either keep them secure," he continued, turning around and motioning to the two pairs that were standing by the tied-up ropes, "or send them falling. It's your call. Aaaand, go!"
Mal got moving first, picking up his dummy out of the stroller and running from stone to stone. Izzy lagged behind, but she still kept up.
"Chop the ropes! Now!" Mal commanded, and the shot cut over to Noah, Eva, Sky, and Shawn on the far side of the river.
"Team E-Scope, don't let them win!" Izzy cried out.
"Hold on!" Sky stopped everyone. "I don't want to fight anyone, or help out Mal."
"Me too," Shawn agreed. "I'm just here because I have too."
"I said cut the ropes!" Mal shouted forcefully.
"You two are right. Let's leave them at each other's throats," Noah said.
"Or better yet, we sabotage Mal," Eva offered.
"I'm already ahead of you!" Shawn grinned and grabbed a machete. He chopped down the rope holding the couch, and Mal took notice and jumped onto the next stone.
"Don't even think about messing with me!" Mal growled.
"Can't hear you!" Shawn mocked him as he cut a series of ropes. A bank vault, piano, and cage all fell down, but Mal effortlessly avoided all of them and eventually made it to the end.
"How were you able to avoid all of those?" Noah wondered. "That cage should've contained you."
"Mike's personalities can come in handy. I'll be taking my leave now," Mal laughed and made his way to the volcano.
Izzy reached the four helpers. "Welp, that was a bust," she griped.
"Don't just stand around complaining," Eva said. "Go to the volcano."
"And what about you guys?" Izzy asked.
"We'll catch up with you two with the helicopter Chris drove us here in," Sky added.
Izzy's face turned into determination. "Here I go! Time to stop the biggest, most baddest villain in TD history!" She let out a battlecry and dashed hastily towards the volcano.
The scene changed to a long-distance upward shot of the volcano, soon cutting to the top as the camera panned across the non-competitors, gathered in a sweaty and sweltering mass on the rim of the volcano's crater.
An upward pan of Chris holding the million-dollar suitcase revealed him standing happily in a cool breeze, the shot zooming out to show it being caused by a giant electric fan blowing air over a large ice cube being held on an intern's back. Several more ice cubes were stacked around the area, and were already beginning to melt.
"So...," Chris said to Chef, the pilot standing beside him, "know of any season three wrap parties?"
Chef didn't answer, and instead averted his gaze and walked away whistling in a very suspicious manner.
Chris frowned at him, but his expression quickly changed to excitement as he looked out over the edge of the volcano. "And here they come!" he announced as Mal was shown racing up the path with his dummy.
The shot cut to the edge of the crater as the dummy was thrown up first, followed by the villain leaping up with a dark smile on his face. He caught the dummy and grinned even more.
"Looking for this?" Chris asked as the shot cut to the million dollar case.
Mal let out a dry chuckle as he made his way to the edge of the crater.
"Stop right there!" Izzy's voice said, causing him to pause and turn around mid-way.
"Izzy," Mal said as the camera cut to the girl at the roof of the crater next to her dummy. "Can't you see I'm about to beat you? Just spare us the trouble and let me win!"
"If there's anyone who deserves to be competing against me, it should be Mike!" Izzy argued back.
"Mike is nothing to me!" Mal shouted furiously. "He should be the one left behind, not me!" That was when he inhaled sharply as his head got closer to the camera.
Suddenly, Mal began falling and landing in the pink grounds of Mike's brain.
"Urgh." Mal grunted before his eyes widened and he saw that his tower was practically rubble at this point. "Impossible. Where's my tower?" Mal asked furiously.
"It's gone Mal. It's gone for good," Mike smirked victoriously as he entered, much to Mal's anger.
"How were you able to push that button? I had that reinforced so your puny arms could not penetrate it," Mal asked angrily.
"I'm not half as weak as you think I am. It's time to end this," Mike glared at the evil alter who smirked fiendishly.
"Very well," Mal said with sadistic glee, "This should only take ten seconds." Soon, Mal and Mike charged at each other fiercely and began punching and kicking each other with so much ferocity.
Meanwhile, at the top of the volcano, Mike and Mal were having such a gigantic fight that Mike's body was thrashing itself violently much to everyone's horror.
"What is he doing?!" Owen asked in concern.
Heather stood in front of Cody protectively.
"Surrender already, you peon!" Mal grunted angrily as Mike's body continued to thrash violently.
"N-never!" Mike said confidently as he continued to claw at himself.
Noah gasped at the scene. "Mike's fighting Mal for control of his body!" Noah realized.
Inside Mike's mind, Mal tackled Mike down as the latter struggled to get himself off of the evil alter.
"Look at you, so pitiful and pathetic!" Mal hissed viciously, "You were a fool to challenge me. It's not like your friends will ever forgive you for this. How will they see you now that they know I exist?"
Mike seemed to be in thought about Mal's words but chose not to let them get to him. "I won't let you win this!" Mike raised his foot to kick Mal in the kiwis, causing Mal to release him from his hold out of instinct.
Mike pushed Mal back and began punching him, trying to keep him down but Mal did not look like he was giving in.
Back at the top of the volcano, everyone was anxiously watching the fight unfold.
"What are we gonna do?!" Sadie said in horror.
Sky seemed to be in deep thought before smiling. "We have to rally Mike on! Show him that he's not alone in this!"
"I'm on it," Shawn nodded before speaking up. "Mike! It's me, Shawn! I just want to let you know that no one is mad at you about Mal's actions!"
"All of us are logical enough to separate Mal from Mike. It's just common sense!" Noah smiled encouragingly.
"We're all rooting for you to kick Mal's butt!" Eva added happily.
"We know you can do it," Ella encouraged.
"Mike! I just want you to know that you're my best friend and I can't imagine life without you! I know it may seem rough in there but please, we all have your back!" Sky said encouragingly.
Back in his mind, Mike smiled warmly as he heard this and Mal got up, all tattered and beaten. "Those nobodies… are idiots. I'm a part of you and they WILL see that!" Mal cried out in fury.
"You're wrong Mal! You may be a part of my mind, but everything you ever did was all you and no one else!" Mike spoke in determination.
"You always wanted me to rely on you. To make yourself feel important. That desire turned you bitter and hateful and led you to who you are today. You wanted me to feel scared and feel I needed you to be tough, but guess what? I have friends up there. Friends who have stuck by my side even when they learned my disorder before I could properly confess, friends who stuck by me even if they voted me off in season one for the others' behavior, and friends who still stay beside me despite everything you ever did to me!"
Mike's body began glowing white, and for the first time in Mal's life, he felt genuine fear in his eyes. "No… you can't do this to me. No one will ever cross you with me in charge," Mal pleaded desperately, "I'm a part of you."
Mike just narrowed his eyes. "That's true. I can't get rid of you, but I can seal you enough to where you can never cause this much trouble EVER AGAIN!"
Soon, Mike used his hands to shoot a powerful white blast which Mal tried to resist but in the end, it was hopeless and he was blasted into the deepest corners of Mike's mind.
"IT'S MY TIME!!!! MMMMIIIINNNNNEEEEEEE!" Mal cried out in horror as his voice faded into the distance.
Back at the volcano, Mike opened his eyes and grabbed his head. "Wh-Where am I?"
"Mike! He's back!" Ezekiel cried out happily before Topher stopped Ezekiel from going to help him up.
"Wait, this could be a trap," Topher said sternly.
"Let me try something," Duncan told the group before whistling 'In the Hall of the Mountain King,' and all he got was a blank stare from Mike.
"It's really me guys. I swear," Mike smiled encouragingly.
"Mike! You're back!" Sky cried out as she embraced the comedian, to which Shawn, Noah, Dawn, Ella, Sadie, Lindsay, and Cody were all quick to join in.
"Guys, I am so sorry about everything Mal did," Mike apologized profusely. "I should have told you all about him after last season, but I thought he was no longer a problem and-"
"It's okay. We know you never meant for this to happen," Shawn smiled at his friend.
"I promise. I won't forget to let you all know about my problems," Mike pledged.
"Great to have you back," Chris said with an unamused look on his face, "but can one of you toss your sacrifice in the volcano already?"
"The one next to you," Topher told Mike as Izzy dragged her dummy. "If you toss it in the lava before Izzy does, then you win the million dollars."
Mike and Izzy locked eyes, then he grabbed his dummy and both ran as fast as they could to the edge of the volcano.
Quickly forming a plan, Izzy slid to a stop and hurled her dummy. It flew through the sky like a bullet, and moments later, it soared into the lava unceremoniously, and aside from a small splash-back that the Peanut Gallery quickly dodged, nothing happened.
"Oh yes!!!" Izzy boomed. "I won! I won! I won!" she cheered, jumping up and down in glee.
"And that's a cool million for Izzy," Chris told the audience. "The winner of Total Drama World Tour!" The contestants all applauded and cheered for the winner.
"Way to go, Izzy!" Owen cheered out loud.
"Nice job, eh!" Ezekiel clapped his hands.
Chris opened up the briefcase for Izzy, who marveled at the dollar bills inside. "It's so beautiful!" she exclaimed as she took the briefcase and hugged it tightly.
"You worked hard for the money, Izzy," Mike said as he walked over to congratulate her. "I'm just glad to be back in control again."
"You're welcome, and stay you, Mike," Izzy shook hands with Mike.
"Ohh, you didn't throw any pineapples in the volcano, did you?" an unfamiliar voice asked, the camera panning right a little ways just as two elderly Hawaiian men in flowery skirts and leis walked up.
"There are signs everywhere!" the other said.
The camera cut to the Peanut Gallery all stepping away to show several signs with crossed-out pineapples on them.
"Oh yeah," Chris said blankly. "They really ruined the shot, so we put the human wall there."
A third old Hawaiian man came over to reveal another sign. "Don't you know what happens when pineapples meet lava?"
It was then that the volcano shook and rumbled, a long-distance shot of it showing a few reddish streaks forming along the outer edge of the crater.
"Uh-oh," Chris said, gaining the camera's attention as the volcano was shaking, "Didn't see that one coming. Anywho," he chuckled before taking a deep breath and yelling "RRRUUUUNNNNNN!"
The volcano was shown from a distance again, the smoke billowing from the top turning into a full-blown eruption of fire.
Back at the top, the three Hawaiian men went running back towards the path down, followed by Chris, Izzy, Mike, and the rest of the contestants as lava began to cover the screen.
It parted as the scene cut to the base of the volcano, the former contestants running and screaming across the beach as flaming rocks rained down from above and the lava took over the screen again.
"See you next season I guess," Chris said as the camera cut to him as fire continued to fall. "Maybe with a whole new cast, 'cause let's face it – these guys are probably gonna melt," he laughed.
"Until next time," the host said, his voiced strained as the scene cut to him standing up in front of the sky. "I'm Chris McLean, and this has been Total! Drama!" The camera zoomed out to reveal that him and Chef were now aboard the old Boat of Losers, but the host's outtro was interrupted by a sudden object. Both men looked up, and one of the rocks, entirely on fire, was shown rocketing towards the boat.
Chris and Chef ducked to either side as it landed, punching a hole in the ship with its crash. The Boat of Losers began to sink, and the rest of the cast treading water nearby laughed as the two adults went under.
Their mirth was short-lived, however, and quickly turned to terror and they swam away screaming as large flaming rocks started raining down upon them once again, and the footage cut to static.
(Roll the Credits)
(Bonus Clip)
The shot featured flaming rocks hitting the ocean and whatnot. The rocks caused some splashes, but they weren't big enough to fully cover the screen.
The camera panned to the right to show Ezekiel Clone on his raft. A big smile formed on his face as he drank his coconut and watched the lava explosion. Noticing the camera, he gave it a wave before it faded to black.

2023.06.02 00:31 vast_annoyance I offered to throw my SIL’s baby shower

if she didn’t feel comfortable having her mother and sister involved (who when she found out she was pregnant told her they hoped her baby died) I wound up throwing the baby shower with her two friends. Her friends did the decorations and I paid for everything else. A month before the party my brother called to tell me that his wife was going to have her mother and sister do the decorations. I had a huge problem with this as her mother and sister are extremely narcissistic and had previously made their wedding day an absolute nightmare and centered around themselves vs the happy couple. I told him that wasn’t my offer and that I was only throwing it because her mother and sister were so awful to her, and I wanted to ensure that they were able to have a day they would enjoy. If she wanted them to throw the shower I wouldn’t mind backing out of my position and letting them throw it, that’s her mother after all. But I would not be collaborating with them for the shower and footing the entire bill while they make this about themselves or potentially sabotage the shower. My brother understood and I was reassured that it would not be the case and that he and his wife still wanted me to throw the shower and that they’d shut down MIL’s offer. The day came and even though her mother and sister were in attendance everything went well, besides a few comments. They even told me how nice the decorations were. I should have known if they paid me a compliment it wasn’t an honest one.
My brother called me a few months ago crying telling me he wanted a divorce from his wife. They were currently in court for a restraining order against his MIL and FIL for battery and for snatching the baby away from his wife. His wife decided she didn’t want to go through with the restraining order and wanted it dropped for her and their baby and it sent my brother into a spiral about his relationship. She threatened to sue him if he included the baby in his restraining order against her parents. As his sister and someone who cares about him, I told him the truth. I told him his wife was a selfish person who doesn’t care about his feelings or his daughter’s safety if she could betray him like this the week before the court date. I told him that she doesn’t love him, only the idea of having a husband and that she treats their newborn daughter like a doll rather than a person. If she cannot stand up for herself now, she never will. And that because she will not draw these boundaries with her family she cannot be trusted. My brother agreed and told me that he sees her as less of a person to do this to him and that the only reason he’s staying is because he’s afraid that they will turn his daughter against him. I reassured him that if he wanted to leave her and to move into my home that he could. Along with the standard advice of separating his money and bringing over any items that cant be replaced. During this phone call my brother agreed with me that she was “a selfish bitch” and informed me that his wife had her mother and sister do the decorations and her friend pass them off as her own for the party. I was absolutely pissed to find out this information about the shower as that was my only condition and I spent a good deal on this shower to make it nice for them (2k in total). I told him I was done with his wife( this is not the first shitty thing she’s done) regardless of if he stayed with her. I do not want her in my home, and I will not be going to theirs. He can call me or come over and see me anytime he likes. Because of how his MIL attempted to get CPS involved at the hospital with false allegations, I can no longer babysit their child. (I have a career that requires a license, and an open CPS case would mean I may not be able to renew)
He also told me that he wanted me to go to their final court date for the restraining order and immediately afterwards wanted to move his belongings out of their home and into my second bedroom, and that he “couldn’t wait to get a full nights rest and the f** away from this bitch” I was relieved he wanted to leave her as honestly I can’t take the crying phone calls and drama anymore.
The night before the court date I called my brother to get the information on which court room and to confirm the time. As I had a high stakes biopsy being performed in the Drs office that morning. During this phone call my brother told me that he no longer wanted me to come to his court date and that he wasn’t “blowing up his family for me” He told me he would let me know if he needed to move in and then hung up on me. I haven't heard from him in 2.5months.
I don’t want to lose my relationship with my brother as he’s my only surviving family, however it seems like I don’t have a say in that decision. Which honestly really hurts my feelings after everything I’ve done to help him in life. He calls me incessantly complaining about his wife, MIL& SIL but doesn’t seem to care much about what I have going on in my life (the biopsy). I also feel like he’s weaponizing the relationship between his niece and I, like he was afraid would happen to him if he left his wife. I feel like now that I have established boundaries of no longer watching the baby and I no longer want a relationship with his wife there’s nothing left to use me for. He called me crying that he wants to leave his wife and now somehow it seems I’m the asshole for supporting him and offering him a way out. Am I wrong?

2023.06.02 00:30 iKitePvP Custody battle over dogs

Writing on mobile so I apologize for the grammar and spelling.
Me and my ex gf of 4 years recently went through a breakup where we acquired two dogs. She left for the weekend before the breakup and said things weren’t looking like they were going to work out so I packed my stuff and asked her if I could take the dogs to which she replied yes. I took the dogs with me and now about a week or so later she is demanding them back threatening to show up unannounced to a property she does not own and has threatened to stay there all day until she gets her dog. She stole the CKC registration that wasn’t registered to her at the time but now she has registered him in her name and the vet bills are in her name. The first one is in my name never registered but she has no interest in him. I worked full time to pay for school and also went to school full time so even though I paid for the vet/grooming/food they were all in her name. I have receipts for a ATM withdrawal the day we purchased the second one and numerous pictures of us together on the day of. My question is if I was to get him up to date and chipped in my name would that help or hurt my case if this was brought to court? Or is there anything I can do? She is harassing me and my mother nonstop with messages and threats to show up uninvited.
Any legal advice or advice at all on what to do would be very helpful as I am lost and any lawyer I contact has no idea. I really want to keep both of them as I’ve always been the caretaker for them and they are very close with my family and I’m worried with her current living situation and no job the dog will get mistreated.

2023.06.02 00:30 DegenerateStoner710 38 [M4F] #newJersey looking for something longterm with the right person

***Hello,As so many on here demand, when sending your FIRST DM please include your Name, Location, Age and a photo. Please do not just DM hi.***

I am only interested in something longterm with the right person. I am in no way shape or form looking for, flings, one night stands, to be 1 of 12 in your rotation etc. Please no games or drama, that stuff was ok 20 years ago lol. I honestly am leaning towards NO children as I find it near impossible to find someone to take out for coffee, let alone have a child with. So atm anything child related is a hard pass unless for some reason you are in fact so different from everyone else that you completely change my outlook on life, then and only then can we perhaps entertain the thought of children ( this also includes people that currently have children, no thanks). I do work full time, just starting a new job. I do enjoy to cook and bbq and would love someone who is also capable of cooking and or can bring something new to the table. I am looking for the ride or die type, someone I dont have to walk on eggshells around, someone who doesnt support the alphabet army or go along with any of those mainstream woke psychosis. Someone with a great and very dark sense of humor, you can take it and give it right back. Just someone who's fun, likes to travel, and actually wants to build a life together.-------------------Hard NO's; 1. Cigarette smokers 2. heavy drinkers 3. History of physical / sexual abuse 4. mens haircuts 5. Anyone remotely close to any possible viral clip you can imagine 6. Single moms 7. New Profiles / BRAND NEW accounts 8. --------------------Please be 420 friendlyComedians : Tom Segura, Dave Chapelle, Jim Norton, Bill Burr, Tim Dillon aka The Pig, Mark Normand, Christina P, Ali Wong, Joe Rogan, William Montgomery aka the big red machine, kill tony, etc to name a few--------------------Shows : Trailer park boys, Letter kenney, simpsons, forensic files ( anything crime related especially serial killer documentaries ), Brooklyn 99, schitts creek, Seinfeld, southpark, breaking bad, better call Saul, Shoresy , Paradise PD, Brickleberry, Banshee, Ozarks blah blah---------------------Music : literally all over the place, mostly prefer metal / edm , changes by mood.---------------------variety of podcasts : YMH, Radio Rental, Crime Junkie, Tim Dillon show, Congratulations, stuff you should know, All over the road, tuesdays with stories, park after dark , Ramsey show, JRE, chip chipperson , Haiyaa with Nigel Eng, long days, history hyenas etc

2023.06.02 00:30 TriodeTopologist Does OpenAI want regulation to squash open source competition?

I've heard a theory that the reason OpenAI's leadership may be telling the US congress that they want regulation of the AI industry, is to raise barriers to entry for competitors. Since OpenAI currently has a dominant position, if they are able to write the regulations themselves, they can word it in such a way as to raise barriers for open source alternatives or new startups to enter the field.
What do ya'll think? Has OpenAI said what regulations, exactly, they want to see? Have they put out a draft of a bill?

2023.06.02 00:26 Ermic_ Quantum Ripples, Cosmic Currents, and Quantum Glue: A Revolutionary Reinterpretation of the Universe in Quantum Physics

A groundbreaking theory in quantum physics, dubbed the "Oceanic Model," offers a novel perspective on several key cosmic phenomena. This theory uses the behavior of water as an allegory to elucidate complex cosmic phenomena, presenting a dynamic, interconnected universe.
The Oceanic Model reimagines the Big Bang as a 'Big Ripple' in the fabric of space-time, akin to a pebble dropped into a calm pond. This concept aligns with quantum theories suggesting that the universe may have originated from quantum fluctuations.
The model provides new insights into gravitational waves and gravity, likening them to ocean waves and rip currents. It proposes that gravity, as a consolidated effect of gravitational waves, acts as a 'gravitational current' that appears attractive due to the intensity of these waves.
One of the most revolutionary aspects of this model is its proposition on the nature and origin of time. It suggests that time emerges from the slowing vibrations of gravitational waves, offering a dynamic and relative view of time's passage.
The Oceanic Model presents a fresh perspective on dark matter and dark energy, proposing that these mysterious phenomena could act as a 'binding agent' or 'quantum glue' connecting the quantum and physical realities. This viewpoint proposes that dark matter and dark energy could represent the interaction or overlap between these realities, potentially influencing the manifestation of quantum phenomena at larger scales.
Interestingly, the model provides a fresh take on quantum entanglement, suggesting that this could be interpreted as a feature of the 'quantum glue' that binds reality. The model proposes that dark matter and dark energy might facilitate the instantaneous connections observed in quantum entanglement.
A particularly intriguing aspect of this model is its take on black holes. It suggests that black holes could form as a result of vortices caused by intense gravitational waves, analogous to whirlpools in water. Furthermore, it proposes that black holes themselves might not produce any gravity but are rather the epicenter of powerful gravitational currents.
The Oceanic Model also provides an elegant explanation for our observations of the universe. As ripples always expand outwards, we will always perceive the universe's expansion at a nearly uniform rate from our perspective. This perspective accounts for the isotropy and homogeneity of the universe, which are key features observed in the Cosmic Microwave Background and the large-scale structure of the universe.
Importantly, this theory adheres to the current assumptions of General Relativity, upholding the principles of equivalence, local Lorentz invariance, and the constancy of the speed of light. However, it diverges from the typical space-time model, proposing a dynamic, quantum-mechanical perspective of space and time.
While the Oceanic Model remains a speculative and metaphorical theory, it presents a unified framework for understanding the universe's fundamental aspects. Empirical testing is needed to validate these ideas, but the model represents a bold leap in quantum physics, potentially opening up new avenues for research.
In the cosmic ocean of our universe, we may be just beginning to understand the ripples, waves, and currents that shape our understanding of reality. As we delve deeper into the quantum depths, the Oceanic Model suggests that phenomena like dark matter, dark energy, quantum entanglement, and even black holes could be the undercurrents that bind and shape the reality we perceive.

2023.06.02 00:23 tables_04 My parents made me lend my car to my brother, and then told me I shouldn’t have lended him my car

So my brother is a real piece of work, who treats everyone like trash when he doesn’t get what he wants. (I wonder where he gets it from?) Early last month I was in class, and got a text from my dad asking if my brother could borrow my car. I told him no and that I didn’t trust him with my car. I text my mom, and she tells me that I can drive my dad’s car, and that my brother would refill my car. My dad’s car is the only car that my current wheelchair can fit in, so my car hadn’t been driven much these past few months.
I decide that I’m going to take advantage of this, in order to help pay off the bit of credit card debt I’m in. He borrowed my car for 13 days, trashed it, and left it with less than 1/4 of a tank in it. I tried addressing this with him, and he told me that he didn’t owe me anything.
So at this point, I print off an itemized bill. His total was 200 hundred something dollars, which would’ve payed off all my debit. His interest rate for not paying was 10 cents per day. I even put a note that, enterprise would’ve charged him at least 650 dollars for the two weeks he had my car. My mom signed it and everything was fine.
My brother gets home from work and rips it up. So I take the initiative to remind him diligently that he owes me more than 200 dollars. At one point I bring it up with my mom, who tells me to “get in line.” At another point she went as far to tell my “don’t let people borrow your stuff then.” I didn’t give him permission to borrow my car. I told him no. Also any ideas on how to force him to pay would be greatly appreciated. I’m headed off to college in the fall, and would appreciate not having credit card debt.

2023.06.02 00:17 ThrowRABritne My boyfriend (43M) of almost 2 years wants me (26F) to get an apartment or house with him and wants to share a bank account and call it “our” money.

I'm a single mom (my daughter is 6 and her father has her on the weekends. My current boyfriend is not the father) and I work as a dance teacher and make a little more money than he does. When he brought up living together(we both currently live separately) I asked him how he would want to split the bills and he said we would just put our money together and call it ours so we wouldn't technically be splitting anything. I don't feel comfortable with that and I've tried to explain why but He doesn't understand and thinks that I'm not trusting him because I don't think it's a good idea to put our money together. I left my last relationship with the father of my child with absolutely nothing and I struggled quite a bit as a single mom to get ahead and I don't ever want to put myself and my daughter in that position again. My boyfriend works full time and doesn't have any kids and has never been married. He doesn't know how to cook and he doesn't really clean his apartment up either so l'm worried if we start living together I would be taking on the majority of the house hold chores and also the bills plus being a single working mom on top of that. Am I not putting enough trust into my boyfriend? I love him but how to I get through to him that it makes me feel like that'd be putting me and my daughter in an un stable situation where I'm taking on too much?

2023.06.02 00:17 welp007 Desperate times are calling for desperate measures at the Treasury Department. For the first time since 2007, the department is set to auction $15 billion worth of one-day cash management bills on Friday that will be issued on June 5.

Desperate times are calling for desperate measures at the Treasury Department. For the first time since 2007, the department is set to auction $15 billion worth of one-day cash management bills on Friday that will be issued on June 5.
This comes as the Treasury’s cash balances hover around $37 billion, the lowest level since 2017. Since the debt ceiling was initially breached in January, the Treasury hasn’t been able to borrow more money to pay its bills. If lawmakers don’t raise the debt ceiling by June 5, the Treasury is poised to run out of funds entirely, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen warned.
Congress appears to be on track to avoid that scenario. The House of Representatives passed the debt deal House Speaker Kevin McCarthy cut with President Joe on Wednesday. Now its fate rests in the hands of the Senate and Joe, who vowed to quickly sign it into law.
Cash management bills mature in a relatively short time frame, ranging from a few days to a year, according to the Treasury. They’re used to help manage the Treasury’s short-term financing needs.
Unlike Treasury bill auctions that occur on a weekly and monthly basis, cash management bill auctions are irregular, though not uncommon. For instance, last year the Treasury held more than 30 cash management bill auctions.
It is, however, quite unusual for the department to auction debt that matures in just one day. Over the past 25 years, the Treasury held six one-day cash management bill auctions.
Yields on cash management bills, which are determined by the auction process, tend to be higher than regular fixed maturity bills. Thursday’s $25 billion auction of three-day cash management bills carries a 6.15% yield. That exceeds the yields almost all other Treasury bills are trading at.
Friday’s auction is open to the public with a minimum $100 bid and can only be purchased in $100 increments.
“There likely won’t be an issue for the Treasury to find bidders on the paper as maturities this short can fit well in money-market funds or other institutional buyers’ books that are looking to invest cash over the weekend,” said Charlie Ripley, senior investment strategist at Allianz Investment Management.
It’s likely that yields on the one-day bills will end up mirroring yields of other bills that mature on June 6, he added, “but any negative headlines overnight indicating bottlenecks with the legislature getting through the Senate will impact the auction price.”
Underscoring the uncertainty around the debt ceiling bill, the Treasury said plans to issue $65 billion of 13-week bills and $58 billion of 26-week bills on June 8 were “tentative.”
The announcements “are conditional on enactment of the debt limit suspension because Treasury forecasts insufficient headroom under the current debt limit to issue securities in these amounts on June 8,” the Treasury said in a statement on Thursday.
