2023.06.07 09:59 CauliflowerDirect370 Restraining myself from destroying the girls life who cost me $5k and almost got me evicted
Hi there. I’m a 21yr old in college. Last September after a late studying on campus, a class friend offered to drive me home…let’s call her G. I was so excited I didn’t have to walk in the dark at 11pm. When we got to my apartment that I just moved into (40 days into my lease) the gate was closed. This apartment doesn’t have a key fob or any way to buzz in. They use a license plate sensor kinda like a toll way does. When a car came through the gate, G hesitated after it, and ended up hitting the gate. In shock, we pulled over to the side and inspected the damages of the gate. It seem to just be popped off the rails. No other damage done. After the shock was over, she told me she would call the apartment complex in the morning and let them know what happen. The next morning, I received a phone call from the office, letting me know that my ride had called and let them know what had happened. They informed me that despite her confessing what had happened, I would still be my responsibility to get any damages paid for.(which I get bc I’m on the lease!) I ended up working out a deal with G to get this gate paid for. They told me they would have someone come out and assess the damages and then they would send me the bill. After a month of waiting to hear back from my apartment they sent over an invoice. The damages were almost 5k. You can imagine the pit in my stomach when I saw the charge on my account. There’s no way a college student can whip out 5K in a month. I let G know the situation. For some reason she said that she had filed an insurance claim on the car in hopes that would cover it for some reason. G was in communication with my apartment complex and had agreed that she would pay the fine. A huge relief!! After a few weeks with little communication from the apartment manager, the apt staff entered my apartment when I was not there LOOKING FOR ME. I by the grace of god bought a ring doorbell bc of my packages. They left an eviction notice for a unpaid due. When I got hope from the gym I literally began to vomit from a panic attack. I am 21 with a 750 credit score. I have never ever been late on any bill. I call G and tell her that she gotta pay this shi or I’m gonna have to pressure legal action against her. There is no way I can afford to just pay for this. I saved up money from my teenage years but not enough to drop 5 bands on a random Tuesday. She informs me that she didn’t have a license so her insurance company won’t cover anything. WHAT!??? WHY DONT U HAVE A LICENSE AT THE RIPE AGE OF 20 AND DRIVING?????? Who tf try’s to file a claim when they aren’t even licensed to drive. She told me that there was nothing she could do and that since I was white i could figure it out 🤣🤣🤣 To this day she never paid me a penny. No apology. Nothing. She drives her blue clown car all over campus I think about destroying that blue waffle every time I see it. I ended up having to beg for money from my parents to help me cover the 5k for the time being. Talk about embarrassing💀 If I didn’t pay this I would had been out 5k + the remaining lease (12k)+ a eviction on my record for 7 years. Not to mention the mental trauma this experience tolled on me. I have never been so sleepless and anxious in my life. I have not pursued legal action due to the fear of being evicted, but my lease is up here in July. I don’t know if suing her will put me even more in debt due to her lack of funds. Any lawyers wanna give me advice? What would y’all do bc I’m trying to not destroy her life and take the high road but this shit has been eating me up. She works for the university and works another job. She brags about all the online shopping she does so clearly $ isn’t a big issue 😀
G if you see this I hope you know there is plenty of gates in hell u can take out 😜
I would add images of the gate but it won’t let me 😅

2023.06.07 09:59 No_Speaker263 Go deep into Web3 and change the world! LittleBee Trust Fintech empowers business partners with super connectivity
The only eternal and passionate heroism of man is to change the world. No one can refuse an opportunity when it comes, but he who knows it later will be denied it. This time, it's Web3 that's changing the world, and it's just around the corner.
In the past few years, the operation order of the traditional world, which was halted by force majeure, is being replaced by a new surging vitality to a considerable extent, and Web3 is the most powerful undercurrent among them, and has so far converged into a new "blue ocean".
Since cryptocurrency, NFT, DeFi, meta universe, DAO, etc. have formed a subdivision track and application landing point that can be seen and truly explored, Web3 is finally no longer a idealized concept, but is embodied as a new technology in the field of financial technology, "invading" the world at a faster speed, and transmitting unknown infinite possibilities to the world.
It is foreseeable that the hurricane from Web3 is transforming the world step by step. This fresh, magical "concept" spares no effort to call people to join with it. And it is difficult to ignore its extremely high entry "threshold". After all, it is not easy to keep up with the pace of The Times to walk in the forefront of the Web3 world.
Get into Web3 is inevitable, but in the era of subversive innovation of financial technology and the change of financial paradigm, it is difficult to believe in going it alone in the competition. On the contrary, "joining forces" have become a necessary skill for the industry to become bigger and stronger. To achieve this, connectivity is an ability to change the world.
"Connectivity" is more important than "ownership"
Connectivity has created amazing products and business models in many fields in the past, but never more so than in this new financial age. Through the blessing of advanced financial technology capabilities, promoting a more open connection of various elements, assets and systems in the financial industry has become a new business and economic model that is currently highly respected. The ability to "connect" allows financial practitioners to be sensitive to the needs of the industry market and to provide just the right services and leading solutions for these fresh needs.
Over the past three years, the world economy has added a lot of uncertainty outside the trajectory of the "cycle", and cryptocurrencies, as a member of the Web3 forces, have waited for opportunities to flourish during this period, and even gone through a round of their own bull and bear cycles, which have completely affected and transformed the inherent pattern of financial markets.
However, the development of the macro environment or situation is more lagging behind the breakout fermentation of micro elements, such as the varying intensity of financial regulation around the world in recent years, especially in the increasingly mainstream crypto market, and the regulatory policies of the world's major economies are also constantly adjusting.
On the other hand, while the global financial market continues to explore the integration of innovative financial technologies such as blockchain and Web3, and is committed to obtaining high-quality liquidity, the financial account system of the whole market is still relatively complex, showing fragmentation and fragmentation characteristics, whether it is for market account holders, financial institutions, or financial regulatory authorities. The complexity and cost of operation and management are high, which is not conducive to the acquisition of liquidity in the financial market and the improvement of transaction efficiency, cost control and competitiveness.
It can be said that the more diversified global financial assets covering Web2 and Web3 still face multiple obstacles in the current transaction and circulation process such as high cost, cross-region, cross-chain, etc. The market is in urgent need of new forces that can smooth friction, and the third party forces with the ability to "connect" are playing an increasingly important role.
LittleBee Trust Fintech: "Three Connections" enables the business partners to go deep into Web3
LittleBee Trust Fintech, as a global integrated solution provider for hybrid financial transactions based in Hong Kong, has a more ambitious goal - to connect B-terminal financial partners and users with different assets around the world, to connect CeFi and DeFi, and to connect a wide range of market opportunities in different jurisdictions and legal systems around the world. 2023.06.07 09:58 DYYSTRYYR ROG Flow Z13?? Is this not a surface pro 9 killer? Why is no one talking about this?
For some context, I'm off to college soon, and for my major and work I'll be requiring a decent rig, especially since I'll be doing lots of work in blender, photoshop, unity, and other graphics work. However, I'll be taking my PC with me, which has a 3950x, 3080, 3tbs of total nvme, and 32gb of 4000mhz ram. Basically, this is good enough to run around just about anything.
I wanted to switch to digital note taking, and I also needed a new laptop to use in class and work stuff that won't be in my dorm. So, I was looking for a tablet that can hold its own, that doesn't need a crap ton of power, but is good in terms of features. Immediately, the surface pro 9(intel ofc) stood out to me. I have forever really disliked 360 foldables, mainly because using them as a tablet is so inconvenient(having to put the keyboard face down, not being able to use in bed because its heavy etc). There isn't a huge market that I've found for windows tablets that also have a foot in the door at being considered a "laptop". The only good ones I found were the XPS 13 2-in-1 and the surface pro. Out of these two, the choice was difficult, but I wanted to go with the surface due to a couple quality of life things(no camera jutting out, a better touchscreen/pen experience). The biggest thing was the built in kickstand, which I tried out at a local best buy, and just seemed so nice. It certainly doesn't support your hand weight, but it does enough to a point where I can take notes on it and do some drawing without needing to lay it flat, which I absolutely love. So my go for that was the surface.
Then, as I'm scowering ltt videos, I come across the gem known as the ROG Flow Z13. After I watched that video, I was absolutely appalled.
I saw absolutely no downsides to the ROG Flow Z13 compared to the surface pro 9. I'm familiar that the surface lineup isn't really liked by the community, but as I continued to search for something that would fit the thing I'm looking for, the surface is what everyone pointed me to. But I just stumbled across the flow z13 and, like a bunch of people seem to say in their clickbaity youtube titles, it really is the better surface pro 9. To give some more context, here's the specs I was looking at buying either of the two at compared:
Specs | Surface Pro 9 | ROG Flow Z13 |
CPU | Core i7-1255U(10 cores) | i7-12700H(14 Cores) |
GPU | Intel Iris Xe | RTX 3050 |
RAM | 16GB LPDDR5 | 16GB LPDDR5 |
Storage | 256GB SSD | 512GB SSD |
I/O | Two TB4 and that's it | TB4, USB, etc basically way more than surface |
Display | 2880 X 1920 @ 120hz | 1920 x 1200 @ 120hz |
Price | $1581.98 | $1799.00 |
The more qualitative things I did some research on through reviews and etc. The keyboard attachments are both okay(although the surface is a bit more hated). The touchscreen experience seems to be good on both. Speakers and display color accuracy are good, but again, negligible to just a student like me who probably doesn't care a lot about those. They both have kickstands, which is super important to me. The weight is a little more on the Z13, and it is slightly thicker. The things I can't attest to are the pen experience, which I've heard has a great response time on the surface, but idk about the Z13. Also, the temperatures, because no one wants to use a heated tablet.
I don't really want the Z13. It has more performance than I really need. I just need to able to run programming IDEs and software, sane blender files, and some unity projects once in a while smoothly. All of the power computing things I can do in my dorm. However, I just don't see how the Surface Pro 9 can even exist at that pricepoint when the Z13 is putting out these specs at the same price budget($200 is no pocket change but its in the same range) while also not compromising on the killer features that the Surface mainly uses to appeal to the public.
My ideal would be a cheaper device of this style that doesn't have a lot of power, but can do what I mentioned above. I honestly just want a surface pro 9, but I just feel scammed buying it at this price when the Z13 exists. It's like, if I am buying this surface, why am I not just buying the Z13? What am I paying for with the surface over the Z13?

2023.06.07 09:54 HyruleSmash855 Any Advice for getting Calculus I credit?
Hi! I took AP Calculus AB over my senior year, which I just graduated from. I probably failed the AP test though since I skipped about half of the questions on the test since I didn't recognize what they were asking me to do and I kind of gave up before the test so I didn't study. I went through Khan Academy and realized I did know most of the stuff from the course, but I didn't take the time needed to make sure I remembered how to do everything off of the top of my head with practice questions so I could recognize what I needed to do immediately.
I see three paths forward and I wanted to see if anyone could give me any advice. I could study for the Calculus CLEP exam and pass it with at least a 50 to get credit through my university for Calculus I. I could take the ASU Universal Leaner course for Calculus I that goes through a full course with proctored exams, only $400 but I can do the CLEP one for free through Modern States, since that would ensure I know everything since there are actual quizzes, or I could take it through my school over the Fall 2023 semester. My university would accept both for Calc I credit by the way, so I checked ahead of time to make sure they're viable options.
I just don't want to repeat a class where I know most of the stuff possibly so I was looking at possibly getting credit for it over the summer since I have about 15-20 hours per week to prepare for it. What do you think I should do? I will have to take Calc 2-4 after this.

2023.06.07 09:54 ConsciousArticleXBS Working with Multiple Databases Simultaneously Using NestJS and TypeORM [Part 3]
Connecting to a Specific Database
First, we will connect the database module to the module in which we want to implement the connection to the database.
For this purpose, let’s create a file called
my.module.ts in the core folder of our project and add the following code to it:
import { Module } from '@nestjs/common'; import { Scope } from '@nestjs/typeorm'; import { DatabaseModule } from './database/database.module'; import { MyEntity } from './my.entity.ts'; import { MyService } from './my.service.ts'; import { MyController } from './my.controller.ts'; @Module({ imports: [ TypeOrmModule.forFeature([MyEntity]), DatabaseModule.register(Scope.REQUEST) ], providers: [MyService], controllers: [MyController] }) export class MyModule {}
Now, we can connect to the database and start working with it. In the same folder, let’s create a file called
my.service.ts with the following code:
import { Inject, Injectable } from '@nestjs/common'; import { Repository, DataSource } from 'typeorm'; import { MyEntity } from './my.entity.ts'; @Injectable() export class MyService { private readonly repository: Repository; constructor( @Inject(consts.DATA_SOURCE) private readonly userRelatedDataSource: DataSource ) { this.repository = userRelatedDataSource.getRepository(MyEntity); } async findData(): Promise { return this.repository.find(); } }
We will also need to create a file called
my.controller.ts. Here’s the code it must contain:
import { Controller, Get } from '@nestjs/common'; import { MyService } from './my.service.ts'; @Controller() export class MyController { constructor(private readonly myService: MyService) {} @Get() async data(): Promise { return this.myService.findData(); } }
At last, everything is ready to connect to a specific database according to the subdomain we receive in the request. Let’s take a look at how everything works in practice. For example, we receive a request with a URL that looks like this:
https://mysub.example.com/ This request is sent to the MyController, where the MyService instance is created. When creating a MyService instance, the database provider is called. This provider, in its turn, follows the scope (in our case, Scope.REQUEST) to determine the database according to the subdomain and returns a ready-made connection. After that, all we have to do is to get the repository of the table we need directly in MyService.

2023.06.07 09:53 New_World2395 Does anyone have both clinical psychology and medical degrees? Advice appreciated.
Hi!
I’m curious if anyone here has both degrees and/or enough experience to provide feedback. I’m interested in both fields but ultimately far more interested in focusing on talk therapy. I thought that a clinical psychology degree would be a better path but I’ve gotten conflicting advice. Also, after a lot of research and even auditing some classes, I think I would enjoy med school more. At the same time, I am completely confident that I will not change my mind and will not be interested in any speciality other than psychiatry (perhaps I’ll change my mind about meds!?). My undergrad degree is in biomedical engineering and I enjoyed studying anything STEM related except statistics (which is very central in clinical psych programs).
Anyway, I’m really conflicted because I feel like I would enjoy studying medicine more but I ultimately want to do what clinical psychologists do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I don’t want to do both because I’m already in my late 20s and it doesn’t seem practical.

2023.06.07 09:53 Commander_PonyShep Is comparing Sonic Heroes' speed, flight, and power characters with other games' similar attempts at the "fighter/thief/mage" dynamic a good defense for said characters -- all eleven of them, not just Sonic on his own?
Because there are plenty of other games out there that attempt the "fightethief/mage" dynamic in much of the same way Sonic Heroes did. As in:
- The speed characters being used for accuracy (via the homing attack, no less) and evasion, as well as stealth in Espio's case, in much of the same way as your average thief or rogue, or scout-sniper if it's a first-person shooter.
- The flight characters working at their best in a support capacity in much of the same way as your average mage or cleric, or engineer and medic if it's a shooter with some vehicle and base-building elements, like Battlefield and Team Fortress 2, respectively, as among numerous examples.
- The power characters being useful for high amounts of strength and durability, like your average warrior, or assault-class infantryman if it's a shooter.
Like, I compare them, myself. A lot of people would have suggested that I'm just making a false equivalence, and I'm sure you'd say the exact same thing as soon as you read this thread all the way to the end. So is comparing the "speed/flight/power" dynamics in Sonic Heroes with other games' similar attempts at the "fightemage/thief" dynamic a good defense, or just false equivalence?

Okay, the Charger is an example of what not to do with writing concept specifications for a Mech as it is a mech with good speed, heavy armor (it's an Assault) and laughably weak firepower.....but what mech takes the Charger's concept of a fast and heavily armored scout in the Assault weight class while also fixing upon the Charger's biggest weakness in weak firepower?

2023.06.07 09:52 bighead2586 Poll: What's your favorite non-Lexus luxury brand?
Hi I feel Lexus is pretty fantastic with it's Toyota affiliation and the reliability that comes with it. The brand does not prioritize performance which is fine with me because I speed enough with the 300 horsepower my GS has - any more and I may get into serious trouble.
From top to bottom I'd say
1)BMW - Driven a couple and they really do drive amazing. If I had lots of $$$ or was leasing, it would be my choice
2)Acura - The new TLX and MDX/RDX drive well and are almost as reliable as Lexus
3)Porsche - Only ever driven a Cayenne and a Panamera, but the brand reputation speaks for itself
4)Mercedes - AMG's are intriguing, but not really my cup of tea. Have driven the C Class and not overly impressed
5)Genesis - Very intrigued by the G70/G80, would be worried about reliability
6)Audi - Maybe a harsh rating but I've driven an A4 which was very boring to me, and a friend has a Q5 that has been a real turd for him
7:Infiniti - I do like the old G37's but other that it's just meh for me

2023.06.07 09:52 Sadiolect How to Manage Pain? Lifestyle Changes? I can’t carry on like this
Hi, my periods have always been bad. I started when I was 10 or 11 and remember crying and suffering through classes without medications for the longest time. Finally when I entered college I started talking ibuprofen, but then had chronic stomach pain for a year before I realized it gave me chronic gastritis. I take Tylenol now (1 500 mg every 3 hours), but it isn’t enough. I hate being dependent on medication, but I cried today because I couldn’t go into my lab to finish tasks for my research. People were depending on me to get work done because our deadline is this week, but I could only rock back and forth in bed from the pain and I threw up in the morning from nausea on top of everything. I was too embarrassed to tell them the real reason why I couldn’t come in today. I can’t continue like this, it’s debilitating every month and I am set back so much because of it. I’m so jealous of my roommates who can carry on normally on their periods. I’m so frustrated and upset. I’ve called the doctors and they just recommend medication and heat pads. My mom doesn’t even believe me either.
For reference, I’m 105 lbs 5’2”. I’m not overweight but not underweight, I try and eat healthy, but I don’t exercise extensively. My flow is pretty average and comes on time. Please I need any suggestions. I want long term relief.

2023.06.07 09:52 Rubix7 Horses are the worst active gameplay element
Honestly, I usually love mounts in games and maybe we got spoiled in recent years by some great ones in Elden Ring and Guild Wars 2, but the mount system in D4 in my opinion is just really, really bad.
Apart from the stuttering and getting stuck on some terrain, the whole control system feels completely off. The most egregious of the flaws is the speed regulated by the cursor distance from the character (I'm on pc, don't know how it feels on controller). Then I noticed that when mounting, 50% of the time the horse doesn't respond to any input, walking very slowly and stuttering all over the place until I release the mouse button and click it again.
Finally, from a more functional perspective, the mount system feels just like a mean to travel faster and that's it. I know it's not the most important design issue to resolve and it may be very subjective, but I would love to get more stuff to do with the mount, enabling new ways to traverse Sanctuary or even mounted combat in specific areas. Imagine how cool it would be fighting a clan of bandits riding on camels that just ambushed you in the desert for example! Maybe even with specific mounted skills for each class, skill trees would be awesome too.
Am I the only one wishing for this sort of thing?

2023.06.07 09:51 Machuww Is it okay for me (21M) to leave an unpaid internship the day after I've been announced to take over?
I've been "promoted" to movies editor at an unpaid internship. I thought I could handle doing the internship alongside my part time job and class based on the initial phone call. So, I accepted the position. However, after training, I found that this would be pretty overwhelming, that, and I don't like the supervisoboss.
They just sent out an email that I'd be taking over the position, but I don't want to do it anymore. Is it okay if I just email them and say that I changed my mind even though I spent all that time in training? I feel like I just wasted their time.
But it's a whole lot of work that would demand about 25 hours a week from me, and won't pay me or offer any other benefits besides experience. What should I do here?

2023.06.07 09:51 Weed86 Why do gulf economies lack innovcation/struggle to create jobs for locals?
Good Thread on twitter by Ali Al Salim:
https://twitter.com/alialsalim/status/1663443727036166145?s=46&t=j3Imx9tMnBKtdBS2JSezOQ 1/ Two questions for Gulf economies are increasingly important:
a) why do they lack innovation? b) why do they struggle to create jobs for citizens?
A few overarching and persistent reasons...
2/ For decades, Gulf states facilitated what is called REGULATORY CAPTURE, i.e. when a political entity, policymaker or regulator is co-opted to serve the commercial, ideological, or political interests of a minor constituency, in this case, the "Tijjar", or merchant class.
3/ Two primary and protectionist measures were born from this: a) WAKALA - enabling a local "agency" to be sole-distributor of foreign goods and services b) KAFALA - a mandatory local sponsorship of all expat labour.
4/ What emerged was a massively corrupted form of capitalism, one that focused on OLIGOPOLISTIC trading (in lieu of real production/value-add). For nearly a century, this fostered (in various forms) a culture of banal private sector rent-seeking.
5/ The tsunami of capital formation that followed, accrued to a minority segment of the population that used their growing power and influence to reinforce and perpetuate the regulatory capture; after all protecting one's commercial position is logical.
6/ Gulf private sectors chose to follow two state-sanctioned rentier business models: 1) an end-point of sale for consumer goods (wakala) 2) arbitraging & monopolising the price of labour (kafala) A consequence of this was a chronic lack of innovation and superficial development.
7/ Reinforcing the symbiotic arrangement, the state was (and largely continues to be) the source of almost all end demand. Even household consumption was ultimately a function of state salaries, distributed through an ever-expanding and mollifying bureaucracy.
8/ A captive source of demand and a protected local market thus failed to create incentives for the private sector to be dynamic or globally competitive. This meant that for decades, economic activity never became "productive" in an innovative or knowledge-building sense.
9/ This evidence supports the late Hisham Sharabi's theory of Neopatriarchy (h/t @Layla_AlAmmar). Private sectors, far from developing an intellectual capacity and independence, instead expanded under new protective legislation as mere extensions of the patronage system.
10/ As a result, Gulf private sectors chronically LACK a capacity to critically analyse and solve problems. Instead, solutions are imported and sold, skirting the acquisition of knowledge implicit in the solutions purveyed. This helped perpetuate the status quo for decades.
11/ Today we're confronted with a private sector that is narrow (trading-focused) and shallow (lacking deep participation in the value chain). Yet the sector's role in the political economy is being forced to change, in part, as the expectant provider of employment to citizens.
12/ As local markets are liberalised, protections removed and aggressive quotas to hire nationals are enforced, I envisage challenging times for many traditional Gulf businesses that fail to radically re-invent themselves.

2023.06.07 09:50 ranaor Network adapters don't work after Windows update
The camera on my laptop wasn't working, so I tried to download windows update to fix it, including the optional updates (after googling the problem, I see that that was a huge mistake), and now I don't have Internet (no connections appear and I can only turn on airplane mode) and the network adapters have yellow error triangles next to them. Device status says windows is still setting up the class configuration for this device. I tried uninstalling them and doing a network reset, and probably some other stuff I don't remember (there was a lot of googling and trying), but nothing works. I get the feeling that the only way to fix it is reinstall Windows, but maybe there's something else I can try? Updates I installed were old Intel and Dolby drivers (one of them has a date of 1968????). Before you ask, yes, I didn't look properly at them before installing, thinking I can trust Windows (big mistake). The laptop is Lenovo Ideapad S530. Also, talking about Windows 10.
