The elders/parents of the ark
2023.06.07 14:04 kellakrisknight The elders/parents of the ark
Call me crazy but most of the problems/wars that happened in the 100 s1 to 3 were becoz of the elders of the ark and their hunger for power. It may have been the 100 to accidentally start those and grounders to continue it, but the elders specifically the ones like Pike and Kane (the one in s1 to 2) added fuel to the fire.
I still dont understand why they fell the level of superiority to the ones already on the ground. Just becoz they cake down of 97 years on the ark, they expect the survivers to just bow down to them and accept their reign? It makes no sense.
It all makes me imagine a world with no ark elders on the ground, maybe it would have been peaceful, maybe not
What do you think?

2023.06.07 14:02 mbow123 Questions I have after finishing the series.
I finished this series Saturday. I have never loved a fantasy series so much. I think this topped Zodiac Academy for me and that has been my top series for 2 years. I am already starting to reread because I love it so much. But I do have a few questions that have been sitting with me for a few days now.
- First and foremost: WHAT DID LORCAN DO!? (I will never be able to forgive this one. đ)
- I read Assassinâa blade first, but can someone explain why reading it after Heir of Fire? Why itâs so impactful? Is it because of the healing in HOF or because of preparation for Queen of Shadows?
- I just started rereading Throne of Glass, why did Chaol as a character take such a turn after the first 2 books? I forgot how much I liked him at the beginning, but QOS Chaol. Why? Was it so that people would accept Rowan?
- Normally I can see deaths as being impactful in a series and make sense. Fenrysâs twin was so traumatizing, but I felt made an impact. But why Gabriel? I get that he was sacrificing himself for Adeion, but I also feel like his death wasnât necessary? Help me understand if Iâm wrong, but I feel like they couldâve shut that gate without him dying.
- Where the heck did Vaughn go?
- Because Aelin hasnât become a full immortal fae yet (I forget what the transition is caused), does that mean she may still regain some of her power that was lost at the end of KOA? Rowan always talked about her continuing to grow her power in the books. I was wondering if any of that magic will still grow with her, or if sheâs now forever stuck with what she has.
- Somewhat unrelated to TOG. Can someone convince me to get into ACOTAR? A long time ago I started it and got halfway through ACOMAF and stopped. I wanted to retry after the amazingness that is TOG, but Iâm still having trouble getting into the story. Is there any parallels to TOG that could help me be more interested in ACOTAR? I just have a hard time connecting to the inner circle of ACOTAR. Maybe I am not giving them enough chance, but it was so easy for me to love all TOG characters.
I am sure I am missing some of my questions and Iâm sorry if these have been answered many times before. Iâm newer here :). If you finished my long post thank you lol. I talk too much.

2023.06.07 13:57 baltimore-aureole NYC flunks economics 101 - is this why our taxes and deficits are out of control?
| https://preview.redd.it/uymnepia4l4b1.jpg?width=310&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f96c49fe068b68d96d11271bb645291791a495ec Photo above - discarded crack pipes made from ordinary household trash. Can't we do better? Not shown - NYC's free vending machines, with made-in-America corporate crack pipes. NYC unveils vending machine for drug users, with free crack pipes and Narcan for ODs Fox News Being a politician is a job with no credentials required. No college education. Knowledge of history not needed. Never had any economics training? - Okay! Not even basic math. All you need to do is convince enough people to vote for you. As exhibit A, I submit New York City's latest brainstorm â free vending machines for crack pipes and Narcan. See link above. There's so much wrong here, I don't know where to begin. First off â common sense. If you had just $1 left in your bank account (NY is, in fact, having a budget crisis), would you blow it on crack pipes? Or possibly something more relevant . . . like fire inspections, subway repairs, or public school infrastructure? Obviously, the guys who dreamed up the crack pipe machines have never seen an apartment fire, ridden on the subway, or have any kids in public schools. Is the concept behind free crack pipes something like this: addicts wouldn't be unable to afford to purchase a pipe after making a drug buy? A subsidy to help dealers keep crack prices high? In any case, the last time anyone checked, you could get all the discarded crack pipes you wanted in Central Park, or in the subway. Maybe even school playgrounds . . . Perhaps elected officials are trying to get out in front of a future problem. With all the drug cartel members crossing the border, at least SOME of them are going to find their way to NYC. This means more crack and fentanyl on the streets. Shouldn't we make sure there are enough pipes, to surf the wave of drug buys? The last thing New Yorkers want to see is some alarming TV report on the shortage of crack pipes. They would certainly hold city hall responsible for that, right? Free Narcan in these very same crack-a-cola vending machines? In case you're not familiar, Narcan is a miracle drug that brings overdosed people back from a near-death experience. And it really works too. But like most pharmaceuticals in America, it can get pricey. A police department near me (Florida) reported recently that they had a Narcan SHORTAGE, because it costs hundreds per dose. And if you don't store NARCAN properly, or administer it correctly, it's worthless. So yes, but all means, let's put Narcan in free vending machines. Where someone can steal it â and sell it to police departments and concerned parents in other states. How does someone even COME UP with the idea of crack pipe vending machines, free or otherwise? Does a city official tell his minions to draft an RFP â request for proposal â and start mailing it out to soda and chip machine vendors? âGentlemen! Could you build these, and if so how much would each cost? We anticipate buying hundreds.â Or did a politician with ties to a vending machine racket â er I mean entrepreneur â get approached by the machine guys? Is this a scheme by politicians to steer money to their vending pals? If so, politicians should expect contributions from vending guys during the next election. Insist on it, even. Giving away Narcan alongside crack pipes is like bundling free Band-Aids and switchblade knives together. It might seem even handed to someone unfamiliar with knives, but in the end you'll need an endless supply of Band-Aids. My dad only got as far as a high school diploma, but he was a smart guy. He told me â if you subsidize something, you get more of it. If you tax it, you get less of it." In a nutshell that's economics 101. NYC has decided to subsidize crack pipes and raise taxes on legitimate citizens. Can you guess how this turns out . . .? submitted by baltimore-aureole to economy [link] [comments] |
2023.06.07 13:53 papabear513 The Experiments Beneath Green Haven Penitentiary
I stared up at the magazine cut out of a Maxim model that was crudely pasted on the underside of the top bunk. Her pert breast shimmied ever so slightly as Pete tossed and turned above.
She was platinum blonde with legs long enough to wrap around me twice. Or so the camera angle made it seem. I felt a stirring below, that yearning for a womanâs touch⌠which I hadnât felt in six years, three months, and eleven days.
I rolled to my side, stifling it. It was the wrong time to seek out an orgasm, and I knew after the release Iâd just spiral into self-loathing anyway. I focused on a crack in the cinder block until my eyelids became heavy.
Static pushed the thought of women from my mind as I slipped into sleep. The smell of cigars and oil flitted through my mind in a memory. My dadâs repair shop. The one I was meant to take over, before the arrestâŚ
------
âAaaarrgghh!â
A cry echoing from somewhere deep within the prison startled me awake. My heart thundered in my chest like a rabbit thrashing against its cage.
I rolled over to see Pete crouching low, his face pressed against the bars.
âWhatâs going on?â I croaked.
âTheyâre taking Benny.â He whispered.
âFuck, really?â I pulled myself to the top corner of my mattress, just enough to peer around the edge of the bars.
Two guards wrestled the young latino onto a gurney as a man in a lab coat watched from a distance. He fought against them but it was futile. Once the straps were locked in he screamed once more, pleading for help.
Dozens of eyes watched from dim lit cells, none of which stirring to offer assistance in the slightest. We knew there was no helping him. We knew what happened nextâŚ
His cries were muffled as the doctor jammed a syringe into the base of his neck. Bennyâs muscles tensed and pulsed in the fit of a seizure, but then lay still. The cell block was silent once more as they wheeled him down the hall and into the catacombs.
I did a cross over myself but didnât bother to pray. Once they took them, they never came back.
âA damn shameâŚâ I muttered.
âYeah, he was a good kidâŚâ Pete stood and leapt back onto the top bunk.
A fire burned in my chest. I wanted to say something. To cry out about the injustice of what was happening to us. That committing a crime shouldnât damn a man to whatever terrible fate they had instore for us below three feet of steel and a quarter mile of dirt.
But I didnât⌠What good could it do? Other than drawing attention to me in a very negative way.
Once they took you to the lab, you were never seen again.
All you could do was hope that your number was never called, and that you got out of here before they visited your cell late into the night.
â-----
87âŚ88âŚ89âŚ90âŚ
My chest was on fire as sweat dripped from the tip of my nose. I couldnât go back to sleep last night. Kept thinking about Benny.
91âŚ92âŚ93âŚ
So began the push-ups. It was the only way to clear my head.
94âŚ95âŚ96âŚ
My therapy.
97âŚ98âŚ99âŚ100.
I rolled to my back, out of breath.
Three years, six months and change.
So much time left to go.
Benny had only been here for a little over a year. It made no senseâŚ
None of us could figure out exactly why they took who they took. There seemed to be no method to the madness.
Just a couple weeks ago they took old man Tom Finch. Heâd been here longer than any of us. A lifer on the account of premeditated murder back in the 70s. But they didnât come for him until heâd served most of his adult life behind bars.
The red beacon suddenly swirled above. A buzzing sound hummed as the cell doors clicked and slid open.
Breakfast.
â----
I pulled my tray along the bar to be loaded with oats, powdered eggs and bread.
Meager rations.
I grabbed a small carton of milk and made my way over to sit with Pete. He was already nibbling on his toast while perusing a crossword puzzle.
We exchanged nods and I went to devouring the entirety of my plate.
Calories build muscle after all.
Which was something Pete had no interest in. He was a bookworm through and through. Rail thin too. When weâd met, Iâd assumed it was from the drug problem heâd had on the outside, which ultimately landed him in incarceration. But come to find out it was just his metabolism and general lack of appetite.
âJohnâŚâ He whispered.
I looked up from my feast.
He was looking to the corner of the cafeteria and I followed his gaze to see two men in lab coats surveying the crowd.
I grunted and squeezed the handle of my fork until my knuckles went white. The impulse of burying it into their throats was almost overwhelming.
âTheir activity has been ramping up.â
âWhat do you mean?â
âIâve been seeing them much more frequently as of late. They must be close to a breakthrough.â
âBreakthrough of what?â I furrowed my brow.
âWho knows? Whatever it is they are doing down there. Theyâve been taking us more often as well.â
Pete sighed at the twist of confusion on my face.
âThink about it⌠Benny last night, then Tom two weeks before that. Then Eric ten days before that, and Deonte maybe three weeks prior. Itâs never been that close together. Until recently, they only came perhaps once every other month. Sometimes only once a season.â
Shit⌠he was right. I hadnât realized it before.
âSo what does that mean?â I asked, shoving another hunk of egg into my mouth.
âI have no idea. But Iâd say our odds of survival have been reduced dramatically.â
â-----
Pete might as well have been an oracle, peering into our grim and desolate future.
Over the next several months we started seeing the lab coats weekly. Sometimes even more often than that.
The prison yard felt empty. Sure there were still plenty of us left, but our population had been noticeably trimmed. One gang in particular only had two members left, which didnât bode well for them. The others slowly circled them like sharks. I had no affiliation with any of them and kept to myself. But still, I could see their fate a mile away.
Although, despite the business as usual dog eat dog atmosphere, there was an undercurrent of fear rippling through the general pop. You could smell it, like a scent of decay and desperation. Hard faces that had once promised violence, now almost flinched around every corner and jumped at each shadow.
The energy of a couple of hundred men that felt like an animal backed into a corner was palpable.
But what could we do?
I didnât know but I sure wish someone would tell me⌠I threw myself into my workouts and Pete hardly ever looked up from a book. Escapism was our only reprieve.
I went to bed with a prayer on my lips, hoping I wouldnât hear those iron bars moving in the late hours of the night.
â-----
A loud clanking followed by footsteps pulled me from sleep.
I squeezed my eyes tightly shut hoping it was the cell next to mine.
But it wasnâtâŚ
Three guards hovered behind a fourth that was unlocking our cell. The bars clicked and began to slide open.
I jumped to my feet and backed up against the wall. I pulled my fists up into a boxing stance, I wasnât going to go without a fight. My muscles tensed and flexed like coiled steel.
âIn the corner inmate! Weâre here for your cellmate.â A short and stocky corrections officer barked with his hand gripping the baton at his waist.
Pete squirmed into a ball at the corner of his mat and looked at me with wide, pleading eyes.
I put my face in the opposite corner as instructed. A mixture of fear and relief roiled in my gut, and I hated myself for it. It made me feel like a coward.
âNo, no, no, no, no!â I heard Pete squeal from behind as guards flooded the cell.
I peaked over my shoulder and watched as they pried him from the top bunk. Pete tried to resist, but there was nothing to him. A bag of bones that they easily wrestled down.
That same fire ignited in my chest. Anger washed over me, cleansing away the cowardice. For Godâs sake, he was my only friend.
All I could see was red.
I spun around bringing the back of my fist across a guardâs face, shattering the bridge of his nose. Blood spurted from it as he dropped Peteâs legs.
With a giant step forward I brought an uppercut into the portly officerâs abdomen, dropping him like a ton of bricks.
I shoved a third into the corner, pinning him there as I screamed for Pete to run. He scampered out the opening and the last thing I heard were his footfalls as a baton smashed across the back of my skull. Everything went black before I even hit the ground.
â-----
I spent a month in solitary.
The room was so small it should have been inhumane to house a human being inside of it.
Still⌠I made the best of it with dips, pushups and situps. Countless reps of them. It was all I could do.
Some mornings Iâd wake up with horrible migraines. I assumed it was a slight concussion from the impact of the baton.
I only hoped Pete could have somehow made it out. But somewhere deep down I knew that would have been impossible. Hopefully he at least gave them some hell before they took him below.
I stopped praying before bed. It didnât seem like it did any good.
If there was a God, he didnât exist inside these walls.
We were abandoned.
The unheard.
â-------
When I finally got back to my cell it had been emptied of everything. Peteâs books, artwork from his niece and even my Maxim cutout.
Just like heâd never existed. My heart sunk at the sight.
Later that day Iâd learned from others that he had been captured just moments after escaping the cell.
But our actions werenât wasted in vain.
We were the first to fight back against the abduction and it sparked something in the others.
They started talks of an uprising a few weeks back. A prison riot.
They even had a guard on the inside. C.O. Matthews. He was a very religious man and was just as horrified by what was happening as we were and had been looking for a way to help.
âItâs going down tonight John, just before lights out. Be ready.â Jerry whispered at the picnic table.
I gave a nod that I understood and headed off for my daily jog around the courts.
It wasnât about getting out. Getting free. That wasnât going to happen. It was about sending a message.
I let my mind go blank, filling with static as I enjoyed what could be my last day outside.
â------
The beacon swirled overhead in the common area.
âInmates to their cells. Lights out.â The intercom buzzed.
There were over fifty men in cell block B, and not a single one of us moved.
The voice on the intercom repeated himself angrily as guards began to shuffle in closer. Nods passed like dominoes from one inmate to the next. We were ready.
âGet to your cell inmate.â a guard growled as he clamped his hands down on my shoulders.
I threw an elbow behind me into his groin, he howled in pain as he hit the floor. The other inmates sprung to their feet and flew off from their leaning places to join in the brawl.
Fists, feet and batons flew wildly across the cell block as we engaged in war with the uniformed officers.
I grappled with one until I was able to submit him in a choke until he went limp in my arms.
I stomped another in the face, spilling blood and brains on the concrete floor.
It had looked like we were winning until they sent the special response team in. We formed a line, many of us battered and bloody, in front of the row of riot shields.
We waited for their charge for what felt like an eternity.
But suddenly they backed out from where theyâd come and slid the cell block doors closed.
What the hellâŚ
The red beacon swirled once again overhead as a clicking sounded out behind us.
The rear entrance that the lab coats had always used swung open. I spun around to seeâŚ
âMary, mother of God.â I gasped.
It was PeteâŚ
But there was something horribly wrong with him.
His skin clung loosely to his body and had a terrible jaundice looking hue to it. His eyes almost seemed to glow and his hands⌠they were impossibly large like contorted branches.
I held my hand up to my mouth in disbelief.
A scientist stepped out from behind him.
âAs you can see, we have a few kinks left to iron out, but we are making great progress. Would you all care to see what he can do?â He looked into each of our eyes inquisitively.
âIf you donât, head back to your cells now. You have ten seconds and then I shall release him.â
It was so silent you could hear a pin drop. But a violent and hungry energy filled the room, emanating from what used to be my friend.
Suddenly, over half the remaining inmates bolted for their cells out of fear. Not that I could blame them, my knees wobbled and threatened to buckle just at the sight of him.
But I stood my ground, as did a handful of others.
âVery well then. Specimen 3-1-0, engage.â
A growl reverberated through the cell block.
âEveryone rush him at once! Itâs our only shot.â I hollered.
And we did, but it didnât matter. It happened so fast. It was over before I could even comprehend it.
He moved like an animal, picking each of us apart almost in unison.
I lay on my back, unable to feel my legs as I watched Jerry be disemboweled. He was trying to shove his intestines back inside the tear in his abdomen before the creature came back to finish him off.
I did a cross over myself but didnât bother to pray.
As Pete stood over me, with dead eyes, I knew there was no God.
He didnât exist inside these walls.
We were abandoned.
The unheard.

2023.06.07 13:52 pageyboy335 The blob is the mimic software
In mats latest video he talks about an AI that controls the pizzaplex called the mimic software. He said it runs through the pizza Plex with black and white wires. Mat made this connection to the puppet, however I believe it solves a different mystery.
The blob is a black tentacle monster that appears to have absorbed many of the other animatronics in the game, and it lives under the pizzaplex in the old pizzeria from FNAF 6. I believe that the blob actually is black and white striped, however from exposure to the mucky underground of the pizzaplex, and possibly ash from the fire, it turned black. From here I made 2 theories.
- The blob is an artificial AI that controls the pizza Plex from the background possessed by a child, however it turned evil in some way and started absorbing the animatronics because of agony or something. I believe this would lead to an interesting idea in ruin DLC because the game would revolve around not trying to escape, but trying to shut down the mimic software.
- Building on mats theory, what if the mimic actually is the puppet, Charlie, however it takes the form of the blob. This would make sense because, as mat said, Charlie's spirit may reside inside the fnaf 6 pizzeria, which is also where the blob lives, and the blob was absorbing animatronics including William Afton. Perhaps Charlie and William had been fighting in the pizza Plex for some time, but the pizza Plex collapsing in the Afton ending gave her an opportunity to finally get him?

2023.06.07 13:50 JRE47 Nifty Or Thrifty: Innocent Cup (And a Fond Farewell To The Silph Arena)
All good things must come to an end. đĽ˛
As you surely know by now, this will be the very last Cup in The Silph Arena's long and glorious history. And so even though I slowly faded away from my monthy meta writeups for Silph some time ago (I think it's been over a year now! đĽš), I HAD to come back for one last ride together, my friends. Like many of you, I only ever got into PvP
because of The Arena, and was a PvP veteran when GBL was still but a twinkle in John Hanke's eye. Many wonderful memories of tournaments and communities, local and remote, that I will cherish always.
And of course: YOU, my dear readers. I am sorry I stepped back, but you all surpassed beyond me and my relatively simple meta overviews. After a while, budget picks became less and less necessary to study as you had more and more tools already at your disposal, built up from the metas of the past.
In short, to paraphrase the great Yoda himself:
I am what you grew beyond. That is the true burden of all teachers. And perhaps, here at the end, you still don't need my simple budget heroes, my rather basic overview of the meta and, of course, off-meta potential wonders. You know, the thrifty AND the nifty stuff. đ
But I can think of no better way to say a proper goodbye to the good folks at The Silph Arena AND you, my dear friends, than to give this one last go. Together.
One last..."Nifty Or Thrifty"! For old times' sake.
So here we go!
For those who don't remember, this article series serves a few functions. First, it gives a first blush, comprehensive look at the meta for the upcoming
Innocent Cup, particularly from the perspective of which PokĂŠmon are likely worth the cost of leveling up and adding a second charge move (
nifty) and which ones would probably work out fine without heavy investment (
thrifty), including some alternatives to the more expensive options. For those on a stardust budget â and/or folks trying to save up some dust for the future â it can be daunting trying to figure out where to spend or not spend it. We all want to field competitive teams of six, but where can we get the best bang for our buck and where should we perhaps instead channel our inner scrooge?
And as always, while I have tried to whittle somewhat, this is likely to be a
long read, just to warn you up front! But always as per normal, I'll try to keep it entertaining as well. đ
Before we dive in, make sure to familiarize yourself with what makes up Innocent Cup. It's Dragon, Fairy, Flying, Psychic, and Water type PokĂŠmon, with with Arbok, Dragalge, Garbodor, and Swalot specifically whitelisted in as well. Excluded are Ice, Fire, Poison and Steel types, plus Altaria, Galarian Zapdos, Galarian Moltres, Galarian Articuno, Cresselia, Hawlucha, Lanturn, Mandibuzz, Mantine, Mew, Alolan Ninetales, Noctowl, Pelipper, Pidgeot, and Trevenant are all specifically banned. The full list and rules are over
here, so check that out before reading on.
Now it's time to dive in, but only after one final, unapologetic musical intro. Hit it!
đź
Oops, let's do this again đś
Silph played with our hearts âŤ
We got lost in the game âŠ
Oh baby, baby âŤ
Oops, I think I'm in love âŹ
Silph was sent from aboooooove âŞ
I'm not that Innocent....
Okay, maybe not one of my greatest ever, but it was either this or a mushy goodbye song like "My Way" or something.
Anyway, in retro style, let's go through this final meta in order of cheapest second move cost all the way to the Legendaries. Here we go!
10,000 Dust/25 Candy
ALOLAN RAICHU Volt Switch Thunder Punch & Wild Charge/Psychic There is a LOT in AhChu's favor here. It resists Flying, Psychic, Electric, and Fighting damage â all very relevant in this format â and wails on all the Waters and Flyers around. As tempting as
Grass Knot is for its ability to blow away the Mud Boys (and other Ground types), I think that if you choose NOT to use
Wild Charge, it is
Psychic (the move, to keep the old inside joke going!) that you want more, as it can at least slap around the important Poison types in the meta (beating ALL of them, whereas Dragalge and Swalot can escape otherwise). That said, the overall more threatening move remains Wild Charge, which obviously has its drawbacks, but is pretty widely unresisted and alone has the power to blow away things like Hypno, Azumarill, and Araquanid.
EMOLGA Thunder Shock Discharge & Acrobatics When I began this article (WAY too long ago now! ), Emolga was a mere footnote here. But that was
then, and
this is now with the addition of
Acrobatics. I still don't know how high Emolga may soar now in PvP, but I know that with THIS meta, it should be off to an impressive start!
SWELLOW Wing Attack Sky Attack & Brave Bird Wait wait wait...
Wing Attack and
Sky Attack and Brave Bird? Why have you hardly seen any of these used? Well, it's much less tanky than Pidgeot and especially Noctowl, which is why they generally get all the press and poor Swellow usually languishes. But one thing that has always separated Silph from GBL are the spot bans, and in this Cup, it is Noctowl and Pidgeot that are on the outside looking in, allowing
Swellow to soar high. And beyond the obvious Electrics and a few Fairies, there really isn't too much that it has to fear. Go fly past the competition!
DARTRIX Leafage Brave Bird & Seed Bomb Poor
Decidueye may remain unexciting in PvP, but at least Dartrix now gets
its moment in the spotlight as a budget (and with the addition of
Leafage, perhaps even better?) Tropius here. I say "perhaps better" despite the fact that
Razor Leaf Trop has a better record because of between the two, only Dartrix manages to overcome Dragalge and Clefable (and spicy Togetic). Trop instead shreds things like Hypno, Gliscor, Wobbuffet, Alolan Raichu, and Seaking, so there's certainly room for both, but Dartrix is absolutely the better fit on some teams.
WHIMSICOTT Fairy Wind Moonblast & Seed Bomb/Grass Knot I'm listing
Charm and/or
Hurricane as options here, but other than the latter sometimes winning the mirror, there's really nothing major they can do that
Fairy Wind and
Moonblast (along with one of the now-two Grass moves) can't. Only with the speedy charging of Fairy Wind can Whimsie outrace stuff like Azumarill, Tapu Fini, and Whiscash, and Moonblast is more reliable than Hurricane at taking out things like Wobbuffet, Zapdos, and importantly, have the advantage versus Dragalge. As for
Grass Knot vs the new
Seed Bomb, the former has the power to take down Wobb and Whiscash, while the latter instead now outraces (Fairy Wind) Slurpuff, (Ice Beam) Jellicent, and (Sludge Wave) Swampert. Go with Fairy Wind. You have plenty of other Charm options anyway. For example....
WIGGLYTUFF Charm Ice Beam & Disarming Voice Yes, you definitely want both
Ice Beam and the new Disarming Voice for Wiggly to be well-rounded, but as is often the case with Charmers, it can often be best to
go for the Charm-down, allowing additional wins against stuff like Dedenne, Tapu Fini, Florges. and several fellow Charmers (assuming they are not
also trying to just Charm-down). Wiggly remains among the best, if not THE best, pure Charmer in yet another format.
CLEFABLE Fairy Wind Meteor Mash & Moonblast Fairy Wind is now the way to go here (and likely in many metas yet to come), as
Meteor Mash can do some serious work, especially in whalloping the other Faires! You can run
Psychic as well to also shock Poisons (Swalot and Dragalge in particular), but it's overall a bit weaker than
Moonblast, which is needed for wins like Azu, Hypno, Wobbuffet, and most of the Electrics in the meta (Dedenne, Zapdos, and Emolga, specifically).
SWALOT Infestation Sludge Bomb & Ice Beam/Gunk Shot I've written about Swalot before, but only as an often-desperate attempt to show it as a decent thrifty Poison with upside. But never has it really SHOWN that upside
like it does here in Innocent Cup. It can swallow all Grasses and Fairies whole, and can also topple things like DDeoxys, Alolan Raichu, Dedenne, Wobbuffet, Seaking, and fellow Poison Garbodor. Give it
Ice Beam for coverage instead of big closer
Gunk Shot, and while it gives up a couple Fairies (Azumarill, Tapu Fini) and Araquanid, it gains Ice-weak Zapdos and Zweilous instead. Swalot is not only finally a breakout star here at the end of Arena play, but you have legit
options with it! You love to see it.
SWAMPERT Mud Shot Hydro Cannoná´¸ & Earthquake/Sludge Wave It would be easy to assume that
Sludge Wave is clearly THE way to go in this meta filled with Fairies and key Grass types. And there is wisdom in that, as Sludge does indeed conquer every Fairy here except the new Fairy Wind Togetic. But there remains just a strong a case for good old
Earthquake instead, as it instead knocks out all the Poisons, plus Zweilous, Jellicent, and enemy Swamperts. The choice is even more in Quake's favor for Shadow Swampert, as it beats all the major Fairies besides Togekiss, Togetic, Azu, and Whimsie, still uniquely takes down Dragalge, Jellicent, and Swampert, and adds to that Whiscash and Rainy Castform as well. I understand the attention being given to Sludge Wave... Innocent Cup IS one of the better fits for it. Just don't put those blinders on too tightly. Earthquake still bears consideration too, depending on the rest of your team. And of course, there is also
Shadow Swampert, which I think also prefers Earthquake, beating everything Quake non-Shadow Swampie can, PLUS Clefable, Tapu Fini, and Slurpuff as non-Shadow can only if it has Sludge Wave, AND completely unique wins versus Gliscor, Zapdos, and Rainy Castform too!
WHISCASH Mud Shot Mud Bomb & Blizzard Aside from the just-buffed
Mud Bomb making Whiscash a bit better anyway, it has one other big thing going for it in this meta that separates it from Swampert:
Blizzard, which simply destroys Flyers (Drifblim, Emolga, Jumpluff, Togekiss, Togetic) that Swampert can't touch, as well as Whimsicott for good measure. Sure, Whiscash can't match Swampert's wins versus things like Hypno, Florges, Tapu Fini, or Florges, and usually will lose to Swampert in the head to head, but at least it stands on pretty equal footing in this meta. Some teams will want one, some will want the other. Which do YOU prefer, my friend?
BLASTOISE Water Gun Hydro Cannoná´¸ & Ice Beam As always, Blastoise is not exactly exciting, but it can get the job done in a pinch. Its excellent bulk allows it to hang in and beat every meta Fairy that isn't part Water or Grass, and also handles things like Drifblim, Swampert and Whiscash, Swalot and Garbodor, and thanks to Ice Beam, Dragalge, Jumpluff, and (Air Slash) Tropius as well. Nothing flashy, but solid as always. I do not particularly recommend
Shadow Blastie.
GOLISOPOD Shadow Claw X-Scissor & Liquidation Golisopod is suddenly interesting now that it has all-new move
Liquidation, which brings in new wins like Whiscash (it already beat Swampert), Swalot, Drifblim, and Gliscor. Add to this some surprising wins like Azumarill, Rainy Castform, and Alolan Raichu, and Golisopod may be more spicy than meta itself, but it's certainly on the upswing.
GYARADOS Dragon Breath Aqua Tailá´¸ & Crunch Gyarados does
just enough to be interesting, including taking out all the Poisons and Dragons in the meta, all Grounds but Quagsire, and stuff like Hypno, Wobbuffet, Jellicent, Rainy Castform, Drifblim, Araquanid. Slurpuff, and even Jumpluff. Not bad, right? Just don't get too cute with
Shadow Gary.
SWOOBAT Confusion Psychic Fangs & Aerial Ace Hey, leave it to me for the
oddball picks, especially among the "thrifty" 10ks. Swoobat is NOT a good PvP PokĂŠmon, but it DOES come with
Confusion to blow away the scary Poisons, and being a Flyer means it performs well against things like Swampert, Medicham, and the Grasses as well. It also manages to several of the big name Fairies and even Gliscor and Rainy Castform too. Not fantastic, but a lot of potential fun in this final Silph Cup.
50,000 Dust/50 Candy
SEAKING Poison Jabá´¸ Icy Windá´¸ & Drill Runá´¸ One thing that doesn't change, despite all the new Fairy Wind around, is that Seaking still wipes away ALL the Fairies here, even really scary ones like Dedenne and Aromatisse/Slurpuff, even with fast-charging Fairy Wind and their scary Electric and Grass charge moves. With its adaptive moveset, it also handles big Poisons Dragalge and Garbodor, Flyers like Gliscor, Tropius, Emolga, and Jumpluff (and most non-Razor Leaf Grasses in this meta in general), and Dragons like Zweilous. Versatile and a LOT of fun, Seaking earns every bit of its current
Top 3 Ranking in Innocent Cup!
JUMPLUFF Fairy Wind Energy Ball & Acrobaticsá´¸ So here's one that DOES take a little hit with the redistribution of Fairy Wind (but
Jumpie is still pretty good!). Jumpluff beats all the major Fairies except Florges... unless they're running Fairy Wind. But now it loses to FW Clefable, who is likely to suddenly be quite popular, and FW Togetic, who I feel like folks are going to bring as long-desired spice. It also has not a prayer against most Poisons (though it
can handle Dragalge thanks to resisting Aqua Tail) but beats
most Waters, Wobb, Medicham, Hypno, Zweilous, and even Tropius.
DEDENNE Thunder Shock Discharge & Play Rough When and I other analysts starting looking over this meta, we got
very excited about Deedee. Upon further review, I personally like Alolan Raichu better overall, as it knocks out things Dedenne cannot like Hypno, Florges, Drifblim, Jumpluff, Seaking (Deedee does NOT like Poison damage!), Fini, Castform, and Clefable. Dedenne IS still
quite good, with its better bulk and Fairy subtyping allowing it unique wins like Wobbuffet, Slurpluff, and Zweilous. And of course, you can always put Deedee AND AhChu on the same team of six....
FLORGES Fairy Wind Disarming Voice & Moonblast So Florges doesn't do anything particularly unique, as it is arguably best running with all Fairy moves. It CAN do some neat things with
Vine Whip, like beating Jellicent and winning the mirror, but
Fairy Wind is just better, instead taking out Jumpluff, Hypno, Wobbuffet, Whimsicott, Tropius and more.
As for other 50k Fairies:
- AROMATISSE is just kind of there. Thunderbolt is nice coverage in this meta in theory, but of course Charm makes it more of a Hail Mary than something to truly threaten all the Waters and Flyers with.
- SLURPUFF can operate with Fairy Wind, though it does so much less successfully than others. It's actually probably also best as a Charmer, just, again, a rather unexciting one. At least Flamethrower and Energy Ball are fantastic coverage options if you ever get to throw them!
- GRANBULL and TOGEKISS are even less exciting. Pass.
There is ONE other Fairy well worth mentioning here, though....
AZUMARILL Bubble Ice Beam & Hydro Pump/Play Rough If there's one lesson we learned early on in The Arena, it's that if you allow Azumarill into a meta, it
will find a way to become relevant. And lo and behold,
here is yet another example. Not even Swalot, Emolga, or Zapdos can safely overcome Azu! And that's on top of all the Fighters, Psychics, Flyers, Mud Boys and fellow Fairies that Azu can strike down. Azumarill is a strong contender here, as it has basically always been in these metas.
JELLICENT Hex Surf &/or Shadow Ball &/or Ice Beam I think I can pretty definitively recommend
Hex as the fast move, but after that? Time for a classic side-by-side. My default recommendation is
Surf/Shadow Ball, which can get to meaningful wins like Whiscash, Drifblim, and the mirror, but also valid are
Surf/Ice Beam and even
Beam/Ball work. Ice Beam is basically required to beat Whimsicott, Tropius, Jumpluff, and Dragalge, but can usually do it alongside Ball
or Surf. Beam/Ball can beat most of what Surf/Ball and Surf/Beam can except Clefable, Florges, and Slurpuff. I think the basic question is thus: do you need extra coverage versus Grasses and Dragons? If so: Ice Beam. If not? Probably just stick with Surf/Shadow Ball. But there's no "wrong" answer, really. Good luck!
ARAQUANID Bug Bite Bubble Beam & Mirror Coat/Bug Buzz Gotta be that
Bug Buzz is the closer to go with, right? Well, yes... but also perhaps no. It's true that only the raw power of Bug Buzz can overcome things like Seaking, Fairy Wind Whimsicott, and Clefable, but as bad a move as
Mirror Coat is, it's ALSO true that 'Nid can overcome all the format's Poison types (and win the mirror match) only with Mirror Coat, not Buzz. Do with that information what you will, but I like when I get to highlight secret tech like that.
QUAGSIRE Mud Shot Stone Edge & Mud Bomb/Earthquake I still don't think it's
quite right to call new Quag toy
Mud Bomb a straight upgrade, as there are good things like
Earthquake can still do that Bomb can't, like overpowering Azumarill and Swampert. But yes,
Mud Bomb is probably the de facto standard now, getting its own nice wins versus things like Seaking, Rainy Castform, Tapu Fini, and Wigglytuff. Lord Quag is certainly more interesting than it was in May, particularly
Shadow Quag which can do all of that PLUS also beat all versions of Jellicent, Hypno, and Togekiss, and Azumarill slides back into the win column too!
DRAGALGE Dragon Tail Aqua Tail & Gunk Shot/Outrage Good enough place as any to slide over to the relevant Poison types, since Dragalge masquerades as a Water type with
Aqua Tail. But which way to go for the closer? Well, I'll start by saying that either one nets wins versus Araquanid (without Mirror Coat!), Tropius, and Jumpluff. After that, the slightly better record lies with
Outrage that can beat Jellicent and Castform with high neutral damage, but I think I STILL lean towards
Gunk Shot for its own unique win versus Azumarill and its high pressure versus enemy Fairies, Grasses, and others in the meta. In this case, I'd just keep it simple.
GARBODOR Infestation Gunk Shot & Body Slam/Seed Bomb With a face only a mother could love, here comes the only meta that can also tolerate Garbo. It's still not
quite on the same tier as Dragalge and Swalot, but yes,
Garbo is legit viable in Innocent Cup.
Body Slam is my recommendation for spam alongside the required
Gunk Shot, as Slam overwhelms stuff like Wobbuffet and Araquanid. But there is some potential spice here as well if you instead run with
Seed Bomb, as you can then beat (Sludge Wave) Swampert and surprise the heck out of Ground and Water types in general.
ARBOK Acid Dark Pulse & Acid Spray And even a small step below Garbodor (
there is a sentence is
never thought I would write!), we have Arbok
withAcid, and NOT the
Dragon Tail you might expect instead. While it's true that Tail can beat other Dragons and/or Poisons (Dragalge, Zweilous, and Swalot specifically),
it's very poor otherwise. Acid is a bad move, but it does manage to
dissolve (see what I did there? I so funny hee hee haha) every non-Psychic Fairy and Grass type in the meta besides Tapu Fini, which is obviously a big deal in this meta.
HYPNO Confusion Shadow Ball & Thunder Punch/Ice Punch Usually an analysis on Hypno means a long debate between competing (and all viable) movesets. Now there ARE several that work outside of my recommendation of
Shadow Ball/Thunder Punch, but I am ready to label that the odds on favorite. It just brings the most overall pressure in this meta, especially to the many Water and Flying types (beating Azumarill as one specific example), at the very small cost of being non-ideal versus Grasses... though Hypno doesn't beat Jumpluff or Tropius with Fire OR Ice anyway, so in my mind, no harm, no foul. At least, that's the way I'd go for non-Shadow. For
Shadow Hypno,
Ice Punch now comes with the power to freeze and shatter Jumpluff and Tropius, as well as Gliscor and Swampert, and still manages to knock out Azumarill too. Best of all worlds!
FARIGAMARIF Confusion/Tackle Psychic Fangs & Thunderbolt Bittersweet moment here, as it's my last time getting to talk about ol' Geeriffaâ um, Giffimarâ uh, Jeffomafig? Oh,
fine... Girafarig. Yes, I HAVE known how to spell it all these years. đ
My boy has only gotten better since recieving
Psychic Fangs, to the point that it's viable in TWO configurations in this meta: [
Tackle]() to overcome fellow Psychics (the type, NOT the move... two long-running jokes in one section! đŞ) like Hypno, or
Confusion which overpowers Whimsicott, Drifblim, Castform, and Clefable and is, honestly, just the better fast move in general. And don't forget
Shadow Farigamiraf, which does give up Swampert, Jumpluff, Gliscor, and Charm Whimsie, but
gains Surf/Shadow Ball Jellicent (already beats other Jelli variants), Seaking, Tapu Fini, Whiscash, and Togetic... and now beats Hypno without needing Tackle! One last toast to everyone's favorite funky Girafamathingy! It's been real, buddy. Glad you get to go out in style. đŚ
SLOWBRO/SLOWKING Confusion/Water Gun Surfá´¸ & Ice Beam/Psychic Slowbro gets the slight nod because I like
Confusion/Surf/Ice Beam the best personally (with standout wins versus Jumpluff, Tropius, and Florges), but if you want to instead run
Water Gun/Surf/
Psychic (the move!), then
Slowking or Slowbro work equally well. The unique wins there are basically other Psychic types like DDeoxys and Wobbuffet. Either way, the Super Slow Bros are pretty nifty here! Similar
BRUXISH not quite so much though.
CLAYDOL Confusion Rock Tomb & Ice Beam/Shadow Ball Not a strong recommendation, but Claydol does just enough here to be interesting (and that should make the Niantic employee that keeps adding moves to it every couple seasons very happy). With
Ice Beam it beats Jumpluff, but beyond that you really want
Shadow Ball, I think, which can instead beat Seaking and gives Claydol unique coverage versus Psychics, Flyers, AND Poisons, among others.
MEDICHAM Counter Ice Punch & Psychic Speaking of doing just enough to be interesting, this is one of those rare-ish metas where Medicham is
merely okay. It does manage to hold down the Poisons as a good Psychic type should, but beyond that it doesn't really know what it wants to be in this meta, settling for picking off some big names but whiffing on plenty of others. I don't feel great about it myself, but be ready for it to show up in your opponent's six at some point, especially after it absolutely rocked the first Play PokĂŠmon tournaments of the new GBL season.
HONCHKROW Snarl Sky Attack & Brave Bird One final chance to put in a good word for Honch (and end a 50k section with some spice...
sniff đ˘), one of the ultimate
boom or bust options in PvP. Really not much to say than that... just reminding you that it and its
Shadow version remain out there, lurking, daring you to take a shot with it. High risk, but potentially sky high reward in this final Silph month, folks!
75,000 Dust/75 Candy
TROPIUS Razor Leaf Aerial Ace & Leaf Blade I feel I am contractually obligated to start this section with ol' Banana Chin, specifically to point out a rare disagreement with my good friend Mr. PvPoke, who lists
Air Slash as the fast move of choice. Respectfully, I disagree... it is
Razor Leaf you want here. Not only does it still manage to beat everything Air Slash can that you most care about, and not only does it shred even scary Water types like Seaking and Jellicent, but it's also THE way for Trop to beat Florges and Electric types like Alolan Raichu and Dedenne. If you want more charge move pressure and such, go with Jumpluff. If you want to just beat stuff down almost regardless of remaining shields, Razor Leaf Tropius is your friend.
GLISCOR Wing Attack Night Slash & Earthquake Regular and
Shadow both have plenty of merit. Non-Shadow has the bulk to outlast Clefable, Florges, Whimsicott, Zweilous, Medicham, Emolga, and Swampert, while Shadow instead has the raw power to overcome Jellicent, Tropius, Zapdos, Whiscash (before it can get to Blizzard), and non-Ice Punch Hypno.
GLIGAR Wing Attack Night Slash & Returná´ž Honestly, though...
purified Gligar is just better than Gliscor.
Return is a big equalizing beatstick that allows Gligar to beat everything Gliscor can (regular and Shadow Gliscor
combined, that is) except Jellicent, Whiscash, and Swalot, and further add on wins against Dragalge, Togekiss, and Gliscor itself! I think Gligar is a big time sleeper in Innocent Cup.
DRIFBLIM Hex Icy Wind & Shadow Ball It just got
Mystical Fire, but at least in this meta, I think Blim wants to stick with
Icy Wind, which does everything Fire can do plus can beat Flyers like Gliscor and Togetic. And just this once, I even give
Shadow Blim a thumbs up. It drops Dedenne, but gains Tapu Fini, Rainy Castform, and stuff like Slurpuff too. Nice!
RAINY CASTFORM Water Gun Weather Ball (Water) & Thunder No Lanturn,
no problem? Lanturn would indeed be perhaps a bit OP here, but Rainy is juuuuuuust right. Washes away Swalot and Garbo
and even resists-all-its-moves Dragalge, Clefable and Togetic and Wigglytuff, and of course a ton of Waters (Jelli, Azu, Fini, Seaking) thanks to
Thunder (and Swampert thanks to
Weather Ball spam). Someone is definitely going to do well with it this month.
SYLVEON Qucik Attack Psyshocká´¸ & Moonblast I mean, you CAN run Sylvie with
Charm, but what makes it unique is
Quick Attack. That plus
Psyshock makes it the Fairy that handles the Poisons, while still doing most of the standard Fairy job (handling Dragons and Fighters and Bugs) and beating most of its fellow Fairies (and Jumpluff!) as well. It is very quietly a
great Fairy in this meta.
ZWEILOUS Dragon Breath Body Slam & Dark Pulse Yes yes, it MUST avoid double super effective Fairy damage. And that leaves it with a
less than inspiring record against the core meta. But take those away, and it has little to worry about beyond the few Bugs and Fighters in the meta. It beats the other Dragons you're going to see, and obviously dominates Psychic and Ghost types. And being a Dragon means resisting Water and Electric and Grass damage and beating many of those types too. It's far better (and sure to be far more popular) than the simple numbers would indicate.
DRAGONAIR Dragon Breath Body Slam & Aqua Tail Similar story here.
The numbers are so-so, for similar reasons as Zweilous, but Dragonair puts out a lot of very spammy neutral damage. And unlike Zweilous, it can handle Seaking, Whiscash, DDeoxys and others.
I'll point out that
Shadow DRAGONITE is pretty spicy too, though far less safe. It's more of a blunt object to the scalpel of Dragonair and Zweilous.
100,000 Dust/75 Candy
Running out of space (and already WAY out of time), so gonna blow through these briefly....
- ZAPDOS is the most interesting Legendary here, even with Emolga now really nipping at its heels. Emolga can overcome Whimsicott, Medicham, and Swalot, but it's still advantage Zapdos with wins versus Seaking, Jelli, Swampert, Gliscor, and Emolga itself. Zappie is still worth it, folks.
- It's no Azumarill, but yes, TAPU FINI still puts in some work. While Azu can outlast things like Emolga, Zapdos, Swampert, Gliscor, Florges, Wobb, and DDeoxys, it is Fini that alone can beat Jellicent, Dragalge, Araquanid, and Dedenne. There really IS a good case for both. If you're feeling particularly frisky, maybe literally both on the same team?
- Honorable mentions for GUZZLORD (which, unlike Zweilous, at least carries Sludge Bomb to somewhat threaten Fairies), LATIOS (just a Dragon that can wallop Poisons and other things with Luster Purge), DEFENSE DEOXYS (not particularly awesome here, but always a decent filler), and strangely-popular-so-far (according to Cup stats to date) CELEBI.
FEELIN' LUCKY?
For those unfamilar, this final section wraps up with stuff that needs to be pushed far into XL Candy territory. It CAN be great, but we're way past any semblance of "thrifty" at this point. Let's bring this one home!
- Staraptor isn't so hot here (partly because there's just not much for Close Combat to do), but STARAVIA has got the sauce, right up there with the surprising Swellow. The downside, of course, is having to max out Staravia just to get to 1468 CP. Worth it? Well that's YOUR call, my friend!
- So this one is cheating a bit, because RUFFLET is actually more than viable JUST beyond Level 40, if you max out a hundo at Level 40.5, hitting 1500 CP right on the nose. And it actually performs better in ways than the recommended heavy XL investment variety, having a better shot at beating Hypno and Swalot (while #1 IVs instead takes down only Dragalge and Togekiss instead). Wing Attack/Brave Bird** can't even be held down by the mediocre Aerial Ace. Rufflet is yet another strong bird candidate. If it didn't make sense why Noctowl and Pidgeot were banned yet, this should finally make that case.
- VULLABY kinda works too (and is one I KNOW folks have already invested in), obviously with distinct advantages versus Psychics and Ghosts in particular, and it beats plenty else besides. The big risk, of course, is a weakness to Fairy that other birds in this meta don't really have to worry about (at least not in terms of taking super effective damage). While the Flying Normals are more all-arounders, Vullaby is more of a specialist here.
- One of my favorite memories from early in my PvP analysis "career" was basically being bullied into writing an expansive analysis on LEDIAN by some PokĂŠmon GO friends on Discord, and then being teased by many members of the early PvP community about it. This was in the days before XL Candy, so Ledian topped out at like 1350 CP then, making it a particuarly nutty venture. But hey, it CAN get to 1500 CP these days, though it's still mere spice and nowhere near meta. But if you took the plunge way back when... hey, this is the last month, right? YOLO!
- Mentioned a few times throughout this article, WOBBUFFET is honestly just alright, suffering from some of the same issues as DDeoxys... bulk and Counter alone don't get you so far in this particular meta. Not like they usually do! Wobb works, but this is not the time to build on from scratch, IMO. Smoke 'em if you already got 'em, sure.
And before I ramble on any further... thatâs a wrap! Thanks for hanging with me to the end... of this article, of course, but also for the many of you that have followed and supported me for four and a half
years now. I appreciate and love you all. đ
Before I go, one final extension of my thanks to my PvP friends, local and around the world, who have lent their own ideas and suggestions over the years and helped teach me to be a better player and student of the game. There are too many to list them all, but a few specific shout-outs to PvPoke, GO Battle Log, PvPIVs.com, PokeMiners, my old friends at GO Stadium for mutally getting each other off the ground in the pre-GBL days, and of course, one final time, to the good folks at The Silph Arena and The Silph Road. Krydos, Drock, Zooeys, the old Meta Team, Steeeeeeeeeeve, Myugenlol, and Dronpes for really launching this multi-year adventure by
reaching out to me in the first place, back in simpler times. And to those I ran out of time/brain capacity to mention... you know who you are. Thank you for being here along that journey and walking parts of that (Silph) road with me. And once more, my thanks to all of
you, dear readers, for your own encouragement, support, and patience with me over the years.
Okay, I said I wouldn't get sappy again, and specifically that I would NOT use this song, but I think I kind of
have to as a musical outro. So with apologies to Ol' Blue Eyes... well, I always HAVE done these reviews...
my way.
đź
And now, the end is near âŤ
And so we face the final curtain. âŞ
My friends, I'll say it clear: âŹ
I stated my case, of which I'm certain! âŤ
And more, much more than this âŠ
I wrote it myyyyyyy way! I hope you've enjoyed these analysis articles over the years as much as I've enjoyed preparing and sharing them with you!
All the best, my friends. I hope you have as many happy Silph Arena memories to hold on to as I do. To whatever comes next! Take care, PokĂŠfriends.

2023.06.07 13:24 oddfellowfloyd Song Iâve been listening to on repeatâŚ
Been listening to this VNV Nation song ("Collide") on repeat lately... It just feels powerful to me. It builds & builds, & I imagine each of us getting ready, getting bravely dressed, stepping out into the world with our chins up, knowing we have a whole community of love & support. We search for our truth, we find it amongst a whole myriad of emotions & physical feelings, & all of those things do collide when we finally live as our true selves... The last verse speaks especially true to me⌠Hopefully youâll give it a listen (itâs EDM / Ambient / Synth-y), & I hope it brings you all some inspiration, peace, & power. đĽ°đ¤đźđłď¸ââ§ď¸
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WekJ6XhBjiw "In another place Another sense of time Creation in my eyes Slip as tethers fade Tune a frequency and glide Beyond this mortal fire . Other single states Left drifting in the wake Still a unity of one Stepping back to view A frame extending on all sides Creation in my eyes . We are too young, Too innocent to see what is right before our eyes Nothing before, nothing will end, we never truly die Like a spark of energy cries for life and ignites One day we'll realise that all worlds must collide. . This is where the fear and doubt subside This is where an empathy presides Find it in the beating of your hearts In our origins, in where the journey starts The immensity of time the wide as gaze The energy unending to create The forces that combine, intensify Though all things do exist, they must collide.â

The three men huddled around each other, grateful for some respite from the mild rain outside that had started up again, but wishing they had some form of heater for the small space.
âWhoâs our new friend?â Wolf asked Edmund, looking at Artur.
Edmund looked at Artur, allowing the bandit to speak for himself.
âMy nameâs Artur.â Artur responded, looking the old, grizzled veteran in his eye.
âJust Artur?â
âYesâŚjust Artur.â
âFair enough Artur, and what led you to running around with this drunk?â Wolf continued before Artur could answer, âHell youâre not usually one for companions Edmund.â Wolf chuckled.
âNormally noâ, Edmund replied, âBut I need to get Artur out of the zone.â
âFat chance.â Wolf snorted, âPlace is locked down tight since the military decided they wanted to police more of the place. Sid has been working around the clock to pull whatever strings he needs to keep us here, fuck knows how he has done it. Every other place between here and Garbage is now military territory though, with anybody in those areas being detainedâŚor worse. Still, this may mean that the favour you owe me can be just as much of a help to you as it is me.â
âOk Wolf, lay it on.â
âWell, we need the military presence here to beâŚreduced. However, up until now there was nobody crazy enough to go through with our planâŚâ
âAnd this plan is going to involve me doing something insane I imagine?â Edmund asked, already knowing the answer.
âPrecisely. One of the boys got their hands on some rather powerful explosives. Not quite sure what they are, but they pack one hell of an explosion.â
âAlrightâ, Edmund sighed, âWhat do you want me to blow up?â
âThree people carriers near Agroprom. Need you to cause as much monetary damage as possible. Military are underfunded as is, if the government sees catastrophic monetary losses before the military even succeed in what they are doing they will pull them out. Only reason I reckon theyâve gotten so far in is due to the fact their little land grab has gone so well for them. We need you to change that.â
âAfter Strelok decided to fuck around in Agroprom the place was empty for years so yeah that checks out. Fine Iâll do it. Afterwards you help me get Artur out of this place.â
Wolf raised an eyebrow, curious as to why Edmundâs âpaymentâ was one of such selflessness. Still, Edmund could be a strange man and he thought better than to question it.
âDone deal. Iâm guessing youâll go through the swamps?â
âOf course, least resistance and it will be mostly empty. Everyone who has traversed there other than Clear Sky has often met a bitter end to a very resistant pocket of the zone. Sometimes Clear sky boys too.â
âAlways wondered why you lot were fucking crazy enough to make a base there, but I suppose nobody else would be insane enough to bother you there.â
âExactly. Or at least that was the case beforeâŚyou knowâŚâ Edmund trailed off, staring at the floor with a scowl before snapping back to the present. âI will need to sleep here for now, even for somebody who knows it well as me, travelling the swamps at night is a death sentence.â
âYou two are welcome to stay here in this cellar, or you can come outside for a drink with the boys.â
âIâll socialise.â Edmund replied.
Wolf caught onto his choice of words, âPassing up free booze?â
âI donât drink anymore.â Edmund blurted defensively, unsure of his own commitment to sobriety. The memories of almost dying of withdrawals were still fresh in his mind, but he wondered how long this would work as a deterrent, especially when the slight gnawing of desire fought with the feelings of repulsion thinking about alcohol gave him.
Wolf did not often look genuinely surprised, but now was one of those rare moments. âFucking hell, youâre not kidding huh? Well honestly, Iâm glad to hear it man. To say you had a problem would be understatement of the century.â
âThanks Wolf. Just donât let anyone offer me any yeah? I want to stick to this.â
âI will.â Wolf replied quietly, a small smile on his face as he gave a proud nod.
The men exited the bunker to mingle with the others a swelling feeling in Edmundâs chest. Pride? A sense of purpose? For the first time in a while Edmund felt good. Well. Confident. He knew there was still a million and one things that could go wrong. That he was still in the hellhole of the zone. Despite this, Edmund felt some hope and for the first time in a while, some doubt? A lack of confidence? Then it hit him, for the first time in forever Edmund was afraid of dying. Edmund had always been smart enough to keep himself alive, but now he was genuinely scared of the price of failure. As he stared quietly into the fire Edmund contemplated that maybe the zone wouldnât soon be the death of him and as the one thing he believed was certain now wasnât so certain, Edmund gulped down his fear and mentally told himself he was ready. Question was for what.
âYou good?â Artur asked, Edmund shaking himself out of his daydreaming.
âYeahâŚjust planning tomorrow in my head.â
âUh huhâŚâ Artur did not exactly hide that he did not believe him, but decided not to press.
âWhat were your lot going to do with me?â Edmund asked, looking to change the subject.
âWell, they thought you were maybe military. The boss was questioning you yesterday to try and see who to ransom you toâŚor if it was even worth doing. The fact you were fro-â
Edmund put his hand up with a cough and Artur realised Edmund wanted to keep his identity confidential. Artur nodded in understanding before trying to change the subject.
âSoo, AgropromâŚplace is fucked isnât it?â
âPretty heavily guarded, yeah.â
âBut you can do it, yeah?â
âYeah, Iâve been through worse.â
Edmund was actually quite unsure, but Artur accepted his confidence without question, a relieved look on his face.
Some light banter and typical camp stories followed as all the men talked amongst each other, everyone eventually retiring to sleep as they prepared for whatever tomorrow will bringâŚ

2023.06.07 13:16 userjamone Paver patio - remove concrete skirt?
| Hi I have a concrete skirt around my house where I want to put a clay paver patio. Can I lay over it or do I need to remove it? What are the considerations involved? The existing concrete skirt has a steeper fall than I would want for the pavers. Can I change the fall in the sand I put on top or is the fall set by the concrete if i keep it? It also doesnât extend as far into the grass as I want the patio so if I was to lay over it, there would be a line where I would have to go to hardcore base which I am guessing will then eventually show in the pavers above? Or can this be avoided with proper compaction? Also have an old concrete step out of the house that has the wrong fall on it as it sits water against the house. Does this need removing and a new one made with forms or can I find tiles to bed onto it and change the fall with them? Hope questions make sense submitted by userjamone to DIYUK [link] [comments] |
2023.06.07 12:55 empressofruin [Intro] Miriam "Miri" Juarez, the future Citizen X races on the scene!
Miriam "Miri" Juarez
Citizen X
Faction: Institute
Born: 1/08/1981
Physique: Miriam is very wiry and quite strong, built like a runner and fairly muscular in a wiry way. Sheâs compacT, given her smaller frame, and has an overall sense of having more energy than she knows what to do with. She also has a scar over her eyebrow from when she fell off a trampoline and kissed pavement and one on her cheek from when she got thrown through a window before her powers manifested. Her hands and knuckles are pretty callused from being a street fighter. And a delinquent.
Voice: Miriam has a contralto, and has a fairly strong Brooklyn accent. Her voice is a little raspy, but overall pretty easy to listen to and understand
Hair: Miriam has long dark brown hair, almost black. It's usually tied into a ponytail and she's probably going to cut it off soon. Sheâs considered dying it, but she likes her natural colour a lot so she hasnât gotten around to it yet.
Personality Description: Miriam is a punk, all things considered. Sheâs impulsive, quick-tempered, gets in over her head far too easily and never thinks things through. Ever. Sheâs the kind of person who gets attached easily and gets angry over stuff far easier than she should. However, she is kind at her core, wanting to do things to make people she cares about happy, which can leave her open to being used by people who know this about her. She wants to make the world a better place, to protect the innocent and not let the little guy get stepped on. She desperately wants to be more than just a punk teen with a mutation, and she wants to live up to the legacy she's taken on herself.
Sheâs chatty and hard-working, never giving up on something once she gets her teeth sunk into it, and she is good at picking stuff up quickly. She makes enemies as easily as she makes friends, but despite her temper flaring up easily, she forgives just as swiftly. Sheâs more terrified of being alone than anything else, a trait she tries to keep to herself, but again, she can be the kind of person who often ends up as muscle or a lookout for someone cunning enough to exploit her impulsive heart.
Sheâs fairly clever, however, with a quick wit and the ability to learn stuff pretty quickly. Sheâs not superhumanly so, of course, but she knows what sheâs about. Sheâs pretty handy with tools and knows how to draw pretty well, mostly doing portraits and sketches of people she sees wandering around and she is very proud of her still lifes. Very proud. She rarely shows her art to anyone but her most close, dear friends. Her deepest wish is that she wants, more than anything, to be an X-Man, or at least a hero who can be the equal of the original Citizen.
Miriam was always a bit of a problem child. She never knew her mom and her dad was often too drunk to keep track of her, hoping she was at school, but she was more often roaming the streets and getting into trouble. Not fun trouble, but more shoplifting and fights kind of trouble. She did it for people she knew, mostly. âFriendsâ whoâd talk her into using her superspeed to help them out. The fights got worse and the run-ins with the MRD got worse, building to a head that she felt would eventually boil over. But, her âfriendsâ needed her and she also kinda liked getting into street fights and shit.
Then she met the Citizen, and everything changed. Or, nothing did, depending on who you asked.
Met wasn't even the right word for it. The Citizen saved her life. The city had been set ablaze and Miriam had been trapped under rubble, her legs broken and the fire creeping towards her. The Citizen had rescued her, taken her to see a man called Elixir who healed her legs. Miriam had never seen someone like her before. She gave a fuck. Sheâd asked about Miriamâs mutation and sheâd called it a gift. People didnât think that about Miriam, or anything about her. Sure you saw the X-Men on TV, and you heard the tapes, but girls like her? No one cared about them. But the Citizen cared. She listened, and she was incredible. She was a real superhero. The kind of person that really truly thought the world would get better, that people like Miriam could make it better if they just tried. And the crazy part was that Miri had started to believe her. That she might be important, she might even matter to other people/
So, she started to do the right thing. She started to stick up for people more, she started to look after the losers sheâd normally ignore or worse, and she started to become the sort of protector of her borough. Sure, she wasnât exactly the nicest person, and sure she kind of charged people and still tagged buildings, stole shit from assholes or whatever, but she was trying to be better. To be the hero the Citizen was. She had a new goal, and that was to be someone good. She eventually decided to run away from home, leave that shit behind her, MRD crackdowns were getting worse and she was putting the people she was trying to protect in danger by being near them without a secret identity or whatever. So, she packed all her crap into a bag and she ran to the Institute, arriving the day before the Escape.
Mutation: Superhuman Speed
Miriam is empowered by the energy of the sun to move and react at a superhuman velocity. Her ability operates by not only enhancing the speed of her body, but creating a shield of light around her that protects her from the effects of moving at superhuman speeds. Her current maximum speed is 250 mph, and her reflexes are good enough to dodge bullets. The light barrier created by her mutation makes her outline iridescent, and gives her increased durability to physical harm, in addition to shielding her against her powers. It only operates when sheâs in motion or has recently been in motion, and cannot shield her against a bullet, but it can protect her from extremes of heat and cold, shattered glass and punches from regular humans. Darkforce energy can consume her barrier and leave her powerless, in a similar vein to her idol, the Citizen.

THE DAY BEFORE THE SIEGE
A dirty, disheveled teenager, clad in street clothes and glowing faintly, stepped up to the gates of the school, scowling slightly as she looked around. This was the place, she was sure of it, and dodging MRD patrols was the easy part compared to figuring out where to go from here...

2023.06.07 12:22 Frogspocket The reason water signs have a reputation as being cry babies and emotionally unstable is because many of them have FIRE placements of their bordering sign. đ
Keep in mind we all have each zodiac within us. Weâre all an embodiment of all energies.
But western pop astrology is wrong. Water signs are not dramatic, reactive, masculine or expressive. Theyâre much more like the ancients (and non western astrologers) describe them: sensitive to their environment and others but NOT about their own ego- (their ego issues are more internal). They are private, feminine, introverted. They hide their emotions and battle them internally. They feel deeply and have high empathy but keep it private.
Itâs fire that is expressive, reactive and masculine with a hair pin trigger on perceived ego attacks.
Pop astrology turned water signs into being the scapegoat for all negative emotion and are known as cry babies, complainers, agressive, needy, catty, bla bla bla
and thatâs fun for meme reasonsâŚ
but part of the reason itâs fun is because water signs let it be. They rarely react to those posts and comments. Occasionally youâll see some cry babies donât get me wrong and everyone focuses on those vocal minorities. But 9.999 times out of 10 water signs just joke back.
Thatâs why itâs fun to make fun of water signs. They have a sense of humor and are self deprecating. Theyâre good at being the scapegoat. They handle it wel.
But if anyone jokes negatively about a fire sign? The fun is zapped out immediately, the babies come crawling out and youâre forced to tip toe around their egos. Defenders feel the need to swarm their babies.
The reaction of fire signs versus water is night and day. You can see it here in this meme sub. Any fire sign attack threads are totally humorless, truly sensitive, and boring. Full of whining, defensive emotional reactions. Usually attacking the OP lol. Suddenly itâs wrong to generalize based on sun sign, suddenly itâs âhey!! This is a meme sub donât joke about zodiac signs đ đĄ â and âjust because you have had bad experiences with a Leo doesnât mean theyâre all badâ
If a Pisces is a sloppy, aggressively defensive cry baby itâs because of influence from their bordering Aries.
If a cancer is a dramatic, attention seeking cry baby itâs because of their neighboring Leo. (Cancers with Gemini inner planets are total opposites of cancers with Leo inner planets)
And if a Scorpio is an easily offended, performitively sensitive cry baby itâs because of Sagittarius influence.

2023.06.07 12:14 Frank_Leroux Molossus, Chapter Eighteen
Chapter One Chapter Seventeen Martinez slouched his way into the kitchen. He wasnât really paying attention to his surroundings; in his defense it was early in the morning and heâd failed at getting some appropriate shut-eye before he went and, you know, bared his entire soul to Chao. At least that was his plan. But as usual, the universe laughs at plans.
He placed a sealed plastic package into the coffee machine, then put a styrofoam cup in the appropriate location. He yawned as the machine began its burbling.
âHey.â
Martinez snapped his head over at McCoy, whoâd suddenly appeared out of nowhere. She leaned against the counter, with a big and very evil grin on her face.
âUmâŚâ began Martinez, before he was interrupted by a voice from his other side.
âHey.â Matt leaned there, and if McCoy looked evil then Matt looked positively diabolical. Martinez glanced behind him and saw more soldiers, all with looks of ill intent on their faces.
The corporal didnât waste time in asking what the hell they were up to, he just started throwing hands and feet. Future scholars would count the resulting battle as one for the ages; Martinez even managed to tag Toke with a couple of pretty good punches and one really sweet roundhouse kick.
But in the end, it was still a case of one against many.
__________
âMmmm mm mmm m mmm!â protested Martinez.
Chao sighed as she beheld his bruised and very taped-up state. âWhat did those idiots do to you?â
âMm MMM mmm mm!â The corporalâs mouth was now duct-taped shut, so verbal acuity was not amongst his strong suits at the present.
She put her hands on her hips. âFor crying out loud. Matt goes and gets me all worried that youâre somehow in trouble, he leads me over to some random closet and shoves me in here and I find you like this. Whatâs the game?â
âGmmmm?â
Chao squatted, examining his bonds. âWell, they sure got you trussed up like a roast for the feast. Hey, if you want me to pull the tape off of your mouth just nod.â
After a moment, Martinez nodded. She reached for the tape covering his mouth, then hesitated. âUm. I donât have much experience with this so Iâll leave it up to you. Is it better to go fast or slow? Blink once for fast, two for slow.â
With deliberation, Martinez blinked once. Chao nodded and yanked the tape off. Theyâd even left a convenient tab for her to grab ahold of.
âFUCKING OW!â yelled the corporal. âUm, sorry.â
Chao seated herself before his figure, which was tied up in a fetal position. âYou know, the last few weeks have given me a bit of a crash-course on the types of grab-ass shenanigans you soldier types get up to. This is a new one, though. Care to educate me?â
Martinez stared at her in horrified disbelief. âToke didnât tell you?â
âTell me what? He just said you were in trouble and that I needed to help out.â
âThatâŚthat evil,
evil son of a bitch. He said heâd explain everything!â
âExplain what? Luca, I am just about ready to walk out and leave you in here to eventually soil yourself.â
Now that he was literally hog-tied and unable to escape, Martinez realized he had to âfess up. âI like you,â he said in an almost-gasp. âI mean, I like you like you. In that way. I mean, I know itâs sudden. Weâve only known each other for maybe four weeks but youâre so smart and pretty andâŚand, you know about Asimov and Heinlein and Clarke and about orbital mechanics and star spectra.â
She sat in stunned silence while he continued. âI donât bring much to the table, I get that. But I want to learn. After we come back from the
Rithroâs repair mission, I want to go to collegeâŚIâve started looking into that. Iâm not much of a catch right now, but maybe one day youâd consider liking me that way as wellâŚâ
He was interrupted as she leaned down, grabbed his head, and planted a firm kiss upon his lips. After a moment of pure bliss for both of them, she pulled away. âYou utter and complete idiot,â she said, but she said it with a smile. âDid you never think that perhaps you have some attractive qualities of your own?â
Martinez tried to shrug as best he could, being all tied up. âI mean, Toke did mention that I have some pretty nice abs?â
Chaoâs eyes glinted in good humor. âPretty nice? Youâve got an eight-pack. I could shred cheese on those bad boys.â
He looked up at her. âWait. When did you see my abs?â
âBack when we were sequestered within Cheyenne Mountain, and we were strictly on sponge baths.â She patted his taut stomach, feeling up those aforementioned abs. âAnyways, do you want me to get you out of these bonds?â
âUmâŚâ
Her good humor turned into a diabolical grin. âOr, would you like to remain in these bonds? Toke said something about a safe-word and safe-gesture, he said youâd explain it.â
âOf course he did. That fucker. Um. Chao, this has gone better than I could ever have imagined but I donât think you need to knowâŚâ
âKnow about what?â Her caressing of his unprotected stomach did not cease. âDoes
my corporal have a bit of a fetish?â
His brain seized up again at her emphasis on âmyâ. âIâŚâ
âLet me put it this way. Would you like me to be all mean and nasty, or more cuddly and dommy mommy?â
After a long, long moment of silence he finally murmured, âDommy mommy.â
âSee? That wasnât so hard. Well, admitting it wasnât hard.â Her hand continued its explorations. âNow this here
is indeed quite hard. Hmm. Good thing you are just too cute for words.â
âCute?â He looked in disbelief at her, and then flinched at her continued caressing.
âOne can be a badass and also cute, my dear corporal. You tick both boxes. Not to mention youâre into a fetish which Iâve wanted to indulge in for a while. Never found anyone who was into it, until now.â
Outside the closet, McCoy stood guard. She smiled in triumph as she heard Martinez yell out in pleasure, and turned to give Toke a thumbs-up.
âItâs about fuckinâ time,â she said.
Matt smiled back at her. He now sported an epic shiner under one eye. âEh, some kids just need a bit of a nudge, you know?â
__________
It wasâŚit was a wall. A wall he was looking at.
A wall covered in white stucco. Nothing too fancy, but it was indeed a
wall and Joachim realized he was looking at it. That might seem like a substandard feat, but for a man whoâd been in Joachimâs proverbial shoes it was a grand accomplishment.
His mouth worked as he swished his tongue around in his mouth. He looked around. He sat in a lawn chair in the middle of a beige room, lined on every wall with the stucco heâd just realized he was looking at. âHâŚhello?â
His voice felt old and clotted. Joachim looked down at his hand, and he saw wrinkled skin and age spots that he didnât remember seeing there before.
This room only had one exit door, and now it opened. A lean man with dark skin entered. âJoachim Neimyer? Iâm Zawahir Ibn Harith. How are you feeling, sir?â
Joachim fixed the newcomer with a steady eye. âIâll be feeling better once I know where I am. And where is Corina?â
âCorina is on her way, she should be here within minutes. We had great hopes that your treatment was progressing well. Do you know what day it is, sir?â
âOf course I know what day it is! ItâsâŚâ Joachim trailed off as he realized that he didnât know. The last fewâŚyears? Decades? He had glimpses of moments in time, as if viewed via a strobe-light. He now realized it was much, much later in time than he thought. âIâŚwhat happened?â
âAlzheimerâs, Mr. Neimeyer.â Zawahirâs eyes were kind. âYouâve been suffering from it for the last seven years. But we discoveredâŚor, I should say, we adopted a methodology for treating it. It not only stops the damage, it has a way of reversing at least some of its effects. I fear you will never regain the memories from the time during which you suffered the most, but from now on your mind should function properly once more.â
Joachim rubbed his now-bald pate. âIs Corina all right?â
Zawahir pulled over a chair next to him and seated himself. âShe is, blessedly, un-marked by the same affliction. We are, of course, putting her on a similar treatment as yourself just to make sure she remains so. With her consent, of course.â
The old man fixed Zawahir with a direct stare. âThis whole thing smells experimental. Why choose me?â
âMmm, you are as sharp as ever, sir. This is indeed an experiment, and we chose you because you are one of the preeminent rocket experts who ever lived. We need such skills now.â
âWhat?â
Zawahir leaned forward. âI will do my best to catch you upâŚâ
__________
She walked through the door, supported by a cane. The one person, the beacon in Joachimâs life. Corina lit up upon seeing his gaze. A gaze with intent, with purpose. âThey said you were feeling better!â
Before he or the surrounding interns could react, Joachim now found himself with a hundred-ish pounds of enthusiastic elderly woman in his lap.
âTell me something only you know,â she whispered.
Joachim smiled. âDo you remember what I told you when we saw the green flash? That one time, in Hawaii? During our honeymoon?â
âI do. You said that the flash was the souls of those whoâve gone before.â
âAnd I promised you that, if I passed before you, that you would just need to look for the flash to see me.â
She clasped his wrinkled face in her own equally-lined hands. âYou did better than that. You came back to me.â
âI guess I did.â He kissed her, reveling in the fact that this time heâd remember it.
Zawahir motioned to everyone else in the room. They all quickly got the hint and left the pair to their mutual happiness.
__________
The door of the simulator cracked open and Kifa came scuttling out. She peered up at the normally stony face of Master Sergeant Wilkes; right now the latter looked like heâd just been kicked in the chest by a donkey and was still trying to process it. âHow did I do?â asked the xyrax. âIt seems like I did quite well.â
âUmâŚKifa. Well. Um. Did the controls seem to operate right?â
âOh, yes! Very much, quite intuitive! Itâs been ages since I simulated combat within an atmosphere! That was fun!â
âFun. You do realize that you were going up against aces. I mean real, human aces?â
âOh. I thought that was the case.â Kifa peered back into the simulator. âWas I not supposed to know that?â
Wilkes finally laughed, something that was fortunately captured by several cameras and used as blackmail material for many years after. âYou did fine. You also just utterly smoked several of the finest pilots on Earth, and that includes non-Americans.â He regarded her with a steady gaze. âI wish I could recruit you to TOPGUN, Iâd love to see you show those strutting peacocks a thing or two.â
âWhat is TOPGUN?â
He sighed. âRight now, itâs in the same exact department as buggy-whip manufacturing. You just showed these punks that, even in atmosphere, youâre death from above.â
Kifa seemed to shrink into themselves. âI didnât mean toâŚâ
âNow, now, Kifa, this is a good thing. Gotta keep those aforementioned strutting peacocks on their toes. But soon weâll be dealing with fighting using orbital mechanics, something with which our air-combat people have about as much actual experience as they do with chatting up the fairer sex.â
âWhich fairer sex? I mean, my kind is hermaphroditic so I know the mechanics butâŚâ Kifa trailed off as it blinked its four big, oil-drop eyes.
âYou are too damned cute for your own good. Pick a sex, any one, I for one do not give a fuck anymore. Point being, we humans need a crash-course in how to fight in space. No atmo, so trying to maneuver using flaps and wings and things is right out. We need to understand how orbits work. Not just intellectually, but in our bones.â Wilkes patted the simulator. âWe need you to teach us. We need you to teach an army. Well, navy. Technically. I guess it would count as a navy. Either way. You know how to do this shit, and you just proved that even in atmosphere you can run rings around our best and brightest. So. Are you willing to show us your voodoo?â
âMy voodooâŚâ The blue-furred spider suddenly rose on all of its legs. âOf course! This will be used against the Breakers, yes?â
âOf course.â
âThen it will be my greatest pleasure to show you all of my voodoo!â Kifa paused. âAlthough, if I received a headpat or two it would also help me properly consider how best to teach you.â
Sergeant Wilkes sighed and reached down. Kifa purred in delight as the usually-taciturn sergeant unleashed the full might and power of Human Headpats upon the alien pilot.
__________
Sadaf watched as the two dark-haired women and one blonde-haired woman had a black-and-white cap fitted over their heads. Both had received a haircut for this day; Parvati for one seemed to be less than thrilled about losing some of her tresses.
âThis is the snoopy-cap,â said the aide who stood between the two women. The surroundings were sterile and very, very white. âThis cap contains your communications, and it will keep your hair in place during launch.â This was the actual process getting shown to the world. Behind them, Ravindar and Martinez were also in the process of getting suited up, but this was done with much less fanfare. The aideâs words carried to them all, of course.
âArms up!â Everyone going into space today raised their arms, and a large tubby-looking upper suit then slid down over five figures. Many human hands made sure that their heads made it through the upper ring. âThis is the upper part of your pressure suit,â said the aide. âThe gloves and helmet will complete that part, but that will come later. Now I will need you all to step into your pantsâŚâ
Everyone did so; Chao was the one who didnât quite make it look elegant. She grinned at Martinez as she fumbled for a bit getting her pressure-suit trousers on; his resulting blush was caught for the cameras but it wasnât until a week later that someone realized what it meant.
âLatch!â The aideâs voice was hard as metal.
Many hands reached out, twisting multiple metal rings to lock the upper and lower halves of the four pressure suits into one cohesive piece.
âI still say we could make them some proper hardsuits,â said Sadaf to Takh. The two stood off to the side, not exactly part of the dance but not apart from it either.
âNo, I think this is better,â said Takh. âWe need to make this look more like aâŚhuman effort.â Her XO stood at parade-rest, with both sets of arms clasped behind his back.
Sadaf nodded. âI will default to your judgement. By the wayâŚhow are you and Corporal McCoy getting along?â She nodded towards the last-minute addition to the crew.
âUmâŚMaâam, IâŚâ His faltering was not helped by watching the humans in the clean-room getting clear helmets fixed over their heads. Each latching was followed-up by a tap on the shoulder and a thumbs-up.
The big human, Ravindar, waved his arms over his shoulders as he got the feel for the suit. Heâd managed to get the helmet on without an issue, in spite of his substantial beard. âNeed more air?â asked a much smaller woman at his side. He shook his head, while he continued to flex and get comfortable with how the suit restricted his motions.
Getting the Sikh to this moment had been a master-class in diplomacy. Not least of which was because he still carried a weapon upon his person. Sadaf had no experience with âSikhismâ, but she could appreciate any culture or creed which dictated the need to carry a protective weapon at all times. It appealed to her nature.
âDo you think Parvati knows that heâs, well, into her?â asked Takh.
His captainâs voice became damn near sultry. âNow Takh, and here I thought you were all clueless. Iâve heard of the effort these humans went through to get Chao and Luca together. Would you like me to ask them to perform a similar effort for you and Corporal McCoy? Hmmm? It would make for quite the photo-op, as the humans would say.â
Takh felt a bit of panic, somehow. âNo!â His panicked reply was low, hopefully not picked up by the surrounding cameras. âI mean, sheâs so small. I could hurt herâŚassuming she wants to be romantic, of course.â
âRomantic? Takh, I admit I am still learning about human body language but trust meâŚif you want that, she wants that.â She pondered the humans in the room still going through some last-minute checks of their pressure suits. âLetâs put it this way. If you donât make a move, then I just might ask Dhuz if itâs okay to add a human to our harem when we get back.â
âWhat?â
âI have learned quite the delightful human phrase. It is, as they say, Time To Nut Up Or Shut Up. I do find McCoy really cute, after all. As do you.â
Her XO grumbled semi-silently for a bit. âFair enough, Captain. Iâll ask her. While weâre out there.â
âGood.â The humans in the clean room were now about finished with their checks, and Sadaf felt a bit of a thrill. She was, after all, witness to a species taking their first steps into a larger universe.
Five hoses were now shoved into five chest-mounted receptacles, each hose leading to its own hand-held air-conditioning unit. Another complicated round of checks, slaps, and thumbs-ups then followed.
âThey do know that weâre just going to walk beside them right into the landing boat, right?â asked Takh. âThis whole process isnât really necessary.â
âLet them have this moment,â said Sadaf with a gentle smile. âTheyâre having fun.â
__________
The five white-suited individuals emerged from the hallway to pretty much universal uproar, both in person and online. The suit color was all NASA, but the logos were not. All four wore the emblem of the United Nations at their shoulder, a pair of olive branches surrounding a polar view of the world. The four humans all did their bit and waved for the cameras. Those in charge of the cameras did as instructed, and ignored the two black-and-sliver figures behind the quartet. The latter werenât wearing any sort of pressure suit.
In the middle of the courtyard hovered the real talking piece, a landing boat from the Rithro. Its entry door was already lowered, and with another wave to the cameras from each of the five humans, they walked up the ramp and into the craft.
The five of them then looked at each other as the door began to close behind them. Theyâd trained together for a bit, enough to get a feel for each other. But now there was a real sense among them of holy shit what now?
Their mutual what-nows were interrupted as Tofa appeared. The arachnoid alien held a tray in one pedipalp, and upon that tray sat a little dish of what looked like Brazil nuts.
âGreetings!â chirped Tofa. âWelcome to Rithro Air, I assure you we have an excellent safety reputation. Well, almost excellent, if you donât count the affair around Barnardâs Star. You may now take off your pressure suits. May I interest you in a nut?â
The four humans (and a few of the aliens) flinched as Ravindar let loose with a hearty belly-laugh. He reached up to undo his helmet while he beamed a brilliant white smile at their greeter. âYou? I like you. Weâre going to be fast friends.â He reached down to pluck a nut from the tray. âMadame? Do you want to take the first nut? Or should I taste it first?â
âUmâŚâ For once, Parvati looked uncertain within her glass-and-cloth cocoon. âIf you wish to taste, then please go ahead.â
âAs you wish.â Ravindar held her eyes as he bit into the proffered nut. âIt seems to be all right,â he pronounced.
After the great ceremony with which theyâd been ensconced into their pressure suits, the humans then with reluctance emerged from their cocoons.
âWe set up some chairs for everyone!â exclaimed Tofa, who gestured to the sides of the landing craft.
âUm, where do we put all of this?â asked Martinez as he held up a pressure-suit gauntlet.
The alien spider blinked. âOh, right! Kexal, would you mind helping our guests stow their material?â
__________
The conference room at ULA now looked out over an even-greater bustle of activity. They were determined to at least match SpaceX in terms of tonnage-to-orbit; maybe theyâd do so more efficiently? The mere notion had set a fire under everyone.
Joachim sat in a wheelchair while he studied those in front of him. âLadies and gentlemen. I have, through some strange technological miracle, been re-granted the use of my mind. Not only that; they tell me that I and my wife might, if certain tests go wellâŚwe could become that which we once were. I intend to make sure that this gift does not go to waste. Not for me, nor for my wife, nor for the rest of humanity. Anyways. We have some aliens who need our help, we have some psychotic robot idiots who are fucking things up for everyone, and we need to get some serious tonnage into orbit as a result. Is that about the shape of things?â
âThatâs pretty much the shape of it, sir,â said Dwight.
Joachim pointed a wrinkled finger at the speaker. âYou. Iâve been caught up enough that I know you were the one to advocate for the use of Sea Dragon.â
âJust as a Hail Mary,â Dwight protested.
Clara cleared her throat. âI mean, I understand the enthusiasm but nobody has ever fired a pressure-fed engine that big. A single engine, mind you.â
Joachim rubbed his chin. âI understand your concern. But also keep in mind, this is a pintle injector, not a shower-head like they had on the F-1s on the Saturn-Fiveâs first stage. Pintle injectors were classified at the time. Thatâs a pity, because pintle injectors are safe as houses.â
Clara looked over at him. âReally?â
âOh yeah, theyâre pretty much bomb-proof.â
The team regarded the design now up on the screen. Clara was the first to speak their mutual thought. âCouldâŚcould we make this work?â
Joachimâs exclamation brought them all up short. âOf COURSE we can!â He thumped his cane into the floor for added emphasis. âGentlemenâŚand ladies, please forgive me ClaraâŚnot one month ago I was a drooling wreck of a human. Today I come before you with my mind re-borne and in full function. I intend to make full use of that function. As does my wife, God bless her. We are going to set an example.â
Joachim stood, levering himself upright via his cane. âHere I stand,â he said. âLike Martin Luther before me, I can do no other.â
After a moment, everybody else in the conference room stood as well.
âWelp, weâre all standing,â said Dwight. âOkay, so what do we do now?â
Joachim pointed his cane at the screen. âNow, my dear Dwight, we Build. That. Fucking. Thing. Weâre gonna show these Coalition assholes how we humans put some serious fucking tonnage into orbit.â
âFuck yeah,â said Clara, as an unholy light came into her eyes.
âFuck yes indeed,â replied Joachim. âThe question now is, what do we put into it?â
The other people in the room looked at each other, just before bursting out into exclamations as to what they wanted put into that first launch. It was the sound of people on an expense account to beat the band.

2023.06.07 11:31 DesignOramas 1/3 Projector here and I'm at a point that I feel so completely lost.
All my life I wanted to do things that nobody ever wanted to do. I wanted to explore the world, quit my job and sell my house and go on an adventure. In 2012 I did just that and together with my wife we embarked on a soul mission. We traveled to all the countries I wanted to go and even lived in one of those countries I always wanted to live in. But countries have their own rules and sometimes they just don't work with me.
We decided to not go back to our own country in Europe but to go to another country in Europe and start a new life. We choose Portugal. After a very traumatic experience in 2017 when a big forest fire consumed many animals, people and people's homes. I was left with trauma, ptsd and a sense of generally being lost. I became more and more depressed, I wasn't the same person anymore. And every year we get these horrible fires that are never ending and it brings me back to that feeling.
The reason we stay here is because of the community we have here. The people that help each other when they are in trouble. My great neighbours who are always willing to help, and I do the same for them. I have helped many people just by talking to them and giving them a good feeling. It helps a lot.
The thing is also, I have no diploma, no degree, when I was at school I had no interest in all these things, it just wasn't me. Now my only job I can do is strimming someones lawn and doing garden work. I don't mind hard work, I have been doing this for a long time in my other country. But I became more aware of the health dangers of working with petrol machines and the fumes. My health is important to me. So I decided to quit doing this. But now I don't know what to do in my life.
My human design tells me to wait for invitation, but all my life I did not wait I just made the decision to start a new job in a factory. I have changed so much, yet at this point I'm completely lost.

2023.06.07 11:07 thxfrplaying Not Ruin- ReUnIoN
TLDR Gregory was always a villain, Vanessa is NOT an Afton but an Emily, Michael is Freddy, SB was a purposeful set up to free Glitchtrap/William and draw in threats to the Aftons for Ruin, plot of ruin is to "save them", character predictions to complete the "reunion"
All imma say after most recent few vids and new trailers, to try to fill in some community gaps
Gregory is a robot and recreation of Evan, mirrored by the GGY story in the (((books))). Bad news. You play as the villain in Security Breach. The mimic system in SB is run by the influence of Charlie, and upon recognizing Gregory switches into attack mode. After all, it is never explained why they attack you in SB, or what happens to you after you are caught other than the assumed death. They attack because Charlie sees you as an Afton creation and wants to put that to a stop. May also explain why Chica knows your name but nobody else does (Chica is character in Mimic story, very related to Henry, kind of a reach).
Anyway, the only one who breaks free is Freddy, who yes I will suggest is haunted by Michael (recognizes blob souls, and other details in MatPat's video about it). This is why he separates from Charlie's influence, just by nature as he is an Afton, and/or would have been rigged to do so by either Gregory or something else (ex. Burntrap/William/Glitchtrap(?) has this capability in the boss battle, even though it is depicted as an attack, may also be why Freddy gets purpler as you replace parts signifying a break away from the others and closer to the family). This would feed into Freddy's conflicted speech upon seeing the blob, and him being "different", and resistant to William in the end.
I think Gregory had a role in releasing and enabling Afton and was never actually under threat of death except by the Charlie-driven animatronics. After all, there's no Afton jumpscare, you're only killed by the blob or the broken animatronics in the boss fight (again driven by Charlie, though Freddy's possession kill might be a hole in this). I think Gregory was always part of the larger Afton plot, but Gregory actually lost most of his memory somewhere in this process, and therefore can "die" in two different ways in SB- REAL death by Charlie animatronics, or memory death (like a factory reset, but may as well be death to protagonist us) by Afton representatives (hence why Vanny can "kill" you which wouldn't make sense if Gregory was pro-Afton). This also makes sense because Gregory does some things that don't line up with being in with the Aftons, or remembering he is part of the crew, except in the Afton ending, such as disassemble Vanny (also where he overtly exposes Glitchtrap with princess quest). So the Afton ending, probably the cannon one, is the one where Gregory regains his memory of his quest, elaborated below in the William section. Perhaps breaking enough animatronics spurred it.
So kind of tying up the WHY of all this, Ruin is a Reunion. Gregory is there, he stayed because the Afton ending of SB was all part of the plan to lure in (as is the traditional family way) the remaining representatives of the victim souls (Cassy and Charlie as the mimic system opposing the glitchtrap system). Michael is still as Freddy, who is seen broken in the trailer. This could be because (assuming he's been the guard shutting down locations the whole time) he isn't 100% loyal to the cause, or be related to the disassemble ending. This may also be why Freddy can't see Vanny- It's purposeful because they don't quite know what side he's on. Or that could be generally protective to Vanny, as being recognized as under Afton influence by being seen at all could trigger aggression as with Gregory (may partially be why Freddy attacks her with the new eyes, but this also suggests that he should be attacking Gregory too if he's also a direct Afton, though the whole 'new eyes' thing gets really convoluted around Gregory and robot-or-not and/or Afton-or-not).
William's fate is uncertain after being taken by the blob but I think the Burntrap thing was just a red herring. After all, it's all about Glitchtrap now. Perhaps even the boss battle was really to get him into the system, merging with the Mimic through the blob to challenge it directly, hence why Gregory was all part of the plan. Or by some other route Glitchtrap/William exists in whatever that thing at the end of the Ruin trailer is (Glamrock Bonnie is my personal assumption, but that's controversial).
The difficulty is with Vanny and Vanessa. Vanny kind of got dunked on if the disassemble ending is cannon WITH the Afton ending hence Freddy's condition in the Ruin trailer, and her mask was just lying there in the trailer. I think she will return, especially being underutilized in SB, but as an individual trying to indirectly influence Cassy into being infected by Glitchtrap perhaps towards a bad ending (such as by leaving the mask). I believe she did a similar thing when chasing Gregory, supporting the Gregory memory loss theory, where she literally gets him to "see red" with the hallucination kind of effect, and is capable of this kind of thing as he can be influenced by technology being a robot.
Vanessa I do not think is an Afton, her eyes were originally green which I think was only changed so as to not be too heavy handed, and that's a Charlie/good thing. She is also not shown aggression by the animatronics, which would check out with my theory about the related aggression towards Gregory. This would mean the SB good ending was not so much about the reunion of the non corrupted Aftons, but about saving them from the influence of their fatheGlitchtrap/William. Also, if in the new books Henry was a departmental higher up, also evidenced by the FNAF 6 location underneath, that would explain how she was hired by a higher up in those messages. She is related to Henry's side of things, not Afton's. In fact, in the newest theory, SHE could be the guardian mentioned at the end. Hence, the good ending, again, and being shown separate from Vanny in the fire ending and therefore not the same person. I am not 100% certain about either's role in Ruin.
This all also may explain certain scenes and lines in the Ruin trailer, like Roxy not being immediately aggressive to Cassy (not an Afton, therefore not immediately aggressive). However that could also be just a Roxy thing as there's obviously the Monty jumpscare and it wouldn't be a horror game if all of them were friendly. It could be a last stand kind of thing where instead of breaking them like Gregory did, you have to save them even as they are threats. I think Gregory again is just a lure and is a villain (somewhat touched on in MatPat's reaction video), but if Steel Wool pulled that with SB they could do another thing where Cassy is double-double-crossing Gregory and knows that he knows he's a villain and is secretly there not to save him from the pizzaplex but from the influences of his family (don't give up on me yet), and to save the struggling anti-Afton forces, without being corrupted or killed yourself (after all depending on whether or not anyone's a robot there's both physical and digital risk).
So the Aftons are there, the Henry/Charlie/Cassidy/souls whatever are there, it's a Reunion, and especially a family reunion as is the goal of the Aftons bringing everyone together to finish William's legacy which checks out with the secret room. EXCEPT, small problem, Elizabeth, and Mrs. Afton are still in the air. Mrs. Afton has not been pictured except maybe as represented by Ballora, which makes it complicated. Elizabeth has plenty of parallels, especially with Baby/Elizabeth having green eyes, the mask being in the blob, and potential robot recreations eat your heart out. There's also the staff bot parallels. This is why I think a long shot prediction is that we will see surprise characters representing these two in Ruin, assuming they don't already exist and I'm overlooking or dismissing something.
Thoughts or predictions? Sorry if anything is confusing, English is my second language and plus it is fnaf. I can try to explain some things more as well.

2023.06.07 11:04 lechatheureux The Tonpa Kingdoms Part 2 (The Kingdoms of Jangshun and Monyul)
Check out part 1 for context
The Tonpa Kingdoms Part 1 (Overview and The Gods) : worldbuilding (reddit.com) There are 5 connected Kingdoms that have Tonpa as their main religion these are.
Jangshun A Place of snow-capped Mountains and green Valleys, said to be built upon the ruins of the ancient Jungar people who controlled much of the area of Jangshun and the nearby kingdoms of Monyul and Taishigang.
Very little is known about the Jungar, their ruins are scattered throughout the landscape of Jangshun, and are often characterized by simple stone structures, pottery shards, and other artifacts. Based on these remains, it is believed that the Jungar were a relatively simple society, with a lifestyle that revolved around farming, herding, and other basic activities.
Despite their lack of sophistication, the Jugar are an important part of the history and culture of the region many myths and legends have grown up around them, the people of Jangshun often see the Jungar as a symbol of the enduring spirit of the region, and take pride in the fact that they were able to survive and thrive in a harsh and unforgiving environment. In addition to their physical remains, the Jungar have left a lasting impact on the people of Jangshun in other ways. Their language, customs, and traditions are thought to have influenced the culture of the later kingdom, and many people still feel a strong connection to the Jagun and their way of life.
The Capital of Jangshun is called Druktse, founded by Dragon Priests and the legendary Namgyal dynasty the city is known for its unique architecture, with buildings made of wood and stone, intricately carved and painted with colorful designs and motifs, the streets are narrow and winding, with prayer flags fluttering in the breeze and the sound of temple bells ringing in the air.
At the center of the city is the Royal Palace of Jigme Wangchuk, a majestic building that serves as the residence of the Royal Family, the palace consists of several wings and halls, each with its own specific function. The main hall is the center of political and ceremonial activities, where the king held court and received important guests. The royal family's private quarters were located in a separate wing, with opulent living spaces and lavish decorations.
One of the most impressive features of the palace is the Eagle Tower, a tall structure that houses the elite Eagle Guards, who were responsible for the king's security the tower is covered from top to bottom with intricate carvings of the bird of prey.
The palace is surrounded by lush gardens and fountains, and it is guarded by soldiers in traditional Eagle attire, the Eagle Guards of the palace of Jingme Wangchuk are an elite group of soldiers tasked with protecting the king and the royal family, known for their fearsome reputation and exceptional combat skills, the Eagle Guards are considered one of the most prestigious units in the Jangshun army.
The guards are named after the majestic eagles that inhabit the mountainous regions of Jangshun, and they were trained to emulate the hunting tactics of these birds of prey. They are adept at using the terrain to their advantage, and are particularly skilled at scaling steep cliffs and mountainous terrain to surprise and overwhelm their enemies. In addition to their exceptional combat skills, the Eagle Guards were also known for their loyalty and dedication to the royal family. They undergo rigorous training and were selected based on their physical prowess, intelligence, and character, to become an Eagle Guard, applicants must be graduates of both the School of the Father and School of the Dragon.
The Eagle Guards are outfitted in distinctive uniforms that featured a stylized eagle emblem, and they were armed with a variety of weapons, including bows, spears, and swords. They were also known to use eagle feathers and talons in their armor and equipment, as a nod to the unit's namesake.
Druktse is a hub of cultural and religious activities, with several monasteries and temples located throughout the city.
The most famous of these is the Tashicho Dzong, a stunning fortress monastery that serves as the seat of The Gyelpa (The Duke) the secondary ruler of Druktse and the center of Druk-Ta worship. The dzong is surrounded by high walls and towers, and is accessible through a grand gate that is guarded by soldiers. The interior of the dzong is a maze of courtyards, chapels, and offices, all connected by narrow passageways and staircases.
One of the most impressive features of Tashicho Dzong is its towering central fortress and monastery, which rises above the rest of the complex and can be seen from miles around. This fortress is home to the Dragon Priests and is one of the most important structures in Jangshun. The fortress monastery is also famous for its beautiful architecture and intricate artwork. The walls of the courtyards are adorned with colorful murals and paintings, while the chapels are filled with statues and other religious artifacts. Visitors to Tashicho Dzong can tour the complex and learn about Jangshun history and culture, as well as observe the daily routines of the monks who live and work there. The Monastery is open to the public during certain hours of the day, and visitors are advised to dress modestly and remove their shoes before entering the chapels. Even though the current royal family of Jangshun are connected to The Father, The Dragon holds a special place in Druktse.
The people of Druktse are known for their warm hospitality and their strong sense of community. They celebrate several festivals throughout the year, including the annual Tshechu festival, the 3 Gods Festival which features colorful dances and rituals performed by monks and laypeople.
To the north-east of the Kingdom lies the second biggest city in Jangshun, the city of Lhagyal, often called âThe Fire-proof Cityâ
Lhagyal is a mass of stone walls and buildings with precious little wood being used at all, the walls of the city are imposingly high and even the central palace is relatively flat and does not rise above the walls, there are 4 gates made of pure steel and those are the only entrances and exits.
Inside the city walls, the streets are narrow and winding, with tall, tightly packed buildings constructed from rough-hewn stone. The architecture is distinct, with flat roofs and ornate metal doors decorating the doorways and windows, many of the buildings are built into the city's walls, their backs resting against the ancient stones.
There is more to the city than what meets the eye. Beneath the streets lie a labyrinth of tunnels and catacombs, built for both practical and spiritual purposes. Some are used for storage or as escape routes, while others are filled with ancient artifacts and sacred relics. The catacombs are also home to a complex network of underground temples and shrines and busy streets that are home to underground residences and businesses.
Despite its rugged appearance, the city's architecture is a testament to its resilience. It has withstood numerous attempts at invasion over the centuries, including attacks by powerful enemies armed with the latest in siege weaponry. The city's fortifications are a marvel of engineering, designed to withstand even the most devastating attacks and yet, for all its defensive prowess, the city has never lost sight of its cultural heritage.
The most famous instance of this was when the neighbouring Confucian Kingdom of Jinyun attempted to invade Jangshun with its impressive military might, scores of loyal foot-soldiers hardened by decades of conflict and advanced siege technology that included weapons that used fireworks.
The city withstood months of warfare with Lhagyal earning its nickname of âThe Fire-proof Cityâ The stone structures withstood the fireworks and the hard rock of the walls withstood the Jinyun catapults, outside the city several guerilla efforts by the Eagle Guards, The Company of the Hand and The White Tigers from Monyul lending their support repelled attempted on-foot invasions by the hardened Jinyun soldiers.
In the south-west of Jangshun, near the borders of Monyul and Taishigang lies the town of Gyalpeling, a place revered by monks and pilgrims alike. Gyalpeling, meaning "Abode of the Victorious" is a small yet vibrant town located in a remote corner of the kingdom. Its strategic location, surrounded by imposing mountains and blessed with fertile lands, has made it a crucial hub for spiritual activities and monastic life. The town is centered around a grand monastery, which serves as the heart and soul of the community. The monastery, known as Samtenling Monastery, is a majestic complex of ornate buildings adorned with colorful murals, fluttering prayer flags, and the sound of chanting monks echoing through the air. It is a revered place of worship and learning, drawing scholars, practitioners, and seekers of wisdom from far and wide. The streets of Gyalpeling are lined with modest housing for monks, adorned with intricate woodcarvings and colorful paintings. The locals, known for their warm hospitality and deep reverence for Tonpa, every activity the townspeople engage in helps the monastery in some way, whether trading, farming or craftsmanship, every resident of Gyalpeling helps out the monastery in some way. The town also boasts natural hot springs, believed to have healing properties, which attract pilgrims and visitors seeking solace and rejuvenation. The pristine rivers and lakes surrounding Gyalpeling add to its enchanting beauty, serving as places for meditation, ritual ablutions, and scenic walks. Gyalpeling is not only a place of spiritual significance, but it also serves as a center of learning, with numerous scriptoria, libraries, and meditation caves where monks engage in intensive study, contemplation, and meditation, prospective monks come from all over the 5 Kingdoms to study in Gyalpeling, as monks educated within its walls are valued in any court of the Tonpa Kingdoms.
One of the most valuable cities in Jangshun isn't far from the capital, a short 1 hour horse ride east of Druktse stands the city of Jangtse, a jewel in the crown of the kingdom. Jangtse, meaning "Silver Peak" in the local tongue, owes its fame and prosperity to the rich veins of silver that run through the nearby mountains, making it a thriving center for mining and trade. At the heart of Jangtse rises a magnificent conical palace, known as Jang Potrang, or the "Silver Palace." The palace, glistening like a beacon atop the tallest hill in the city, is adorned with silver-plated roofs, walls, and pillars, reflecting the sunlight and casting a mesmerizing glow over the surrounding landscape. It serves as the royal residence, where the Count holds court and conducts affairs pertaining to the area between Jangtse and Druktse. The streets of Jangtse are lined with buildings that boast silver-plated facades, creating a surreal and shimmering sight as one walks through the city, often shining gold from reflecting the sunlight, the wealth of the city is evident in the intricate silver filigree work that adorns windows, doors, and rooftops of temples, mansions, and markets alike. The silversmiths of Jangtse are renowned for their craftsmanship, producing exquisite silverware and jewelry that are sought after by collectors and traders from distant lands. The city is a bustling center of commerce, with a vibrant market square where merchants from across the region gather to trade in silver, gemstones, textiles, and other precious goods. The sounds of bartering, laughter, and the clinking of silver coins fill the air.
The Armies of Jangshun are known for their ferocious foot-soldiers, the every-day rank and file soldiers of the Jangshun armies are regarded as the best in the region and are a feared prospect to face on any battlefield.
The soldiers of the army of Jangshun are highly disciplined and skilled in the art of warfare, and are renowned throughout the region for their courage and loyalty. They are trained in a variety of weapons and fighting styles, including archery, swordsmanship, and hand-to-hand combat.
It is said that the success of the army comes from the fact that many men and women who fight in it are from mountainous regions and are conditioned from a young age to move over mountainous land with ease, their armies can easily traverse land that would be impossible for normal armies to travel over, due to the fact that the soldiers know the land.
The army of Jangshun is led by a commander-in-chief, who is appointed by the common foot-soldiers and is responsible for the overall strategy and tactics of the army. Under the commander-in-chief, there are several generals and officers who oversee different units of the army, each with their own specific roles and responsibilities. The soldiers of the army of Jangshun are equipped with a variety of weapons and armor, including shields, helmets, and chainmail. They are also skilled in the use of traditional weapons, such as the da and the gochu, which are types of swords. In addition to their skills in battle, the soldiers of the army of Jangshun are also highly respected for their loyalty and devotion to their ruler and country. They are known for their strong sense of duty and honor, and are willing to lay down their lives in defense of their homeland. The army of Jangshun is often called upon to defend the kingdom against invading forces, and has a long history of successful battles and campaigns. Their reputation for courage and skill has earned them the respect of their neighbors and allies, and they are a source of pride and inspiration for the people of Jangshun.
One of the most famous regiments from Jangshun is the âWheel of Steelâ A heavily armored longsword unit founded by Princess Jamyang Daughter of King Kunga and Sister of King Yangchen of the Yeshe Dynasty after she travelled to Europe and witnessed people fighting in full suits of armor, this was a foreign concept in the areas around her and she implemented the idea with her Father's (And later Brother's) full support they were first deployed in aid of Taishigang who were experiencing an invasion from a nearby Dharmist Kingdom. The longswords cleaved through the invading forces lack of armor and their steel plates deflected blows.
Monyul Monyul is a land of vast open spaces and stunning natural beauty. The kingdom is home to a proud and fiercely independent people, who have built a rich culture and a strong military tradition, its plains are green and warm during the summer but snow is not uncommon in winter. Dharmaling is the capital city of Monyul and is nestled in the hills, surrounded by winding rivers and vast grasslands. It is a city steeped in tradition and culture, with a rich history that stretches back centuries.
Dharmaling was built as the northern most outpost of the Dharmist Indraprastha Empire but was conquered by Tonpa forces from a tribe that would eventually become known as the Monyul. The city is built around a central marketplace, where merchants from all over the known world come to trade their wares. The marketplace is a bustling hub of activity, filled with the sounds of bargaining and haggling, and the aromas of exotic spices and perfumes.
The Company of the Wind have their main offices in Dharmaling and use the bustling 10 storey wooden building to plan its operations throughout the known world. The streets of Dharmaling are relatively wide due to the constant horse carts that pass through them. The buildings are made of stone and wood, with intricately carved facades and ornate balconies. Many of the houses have flat roofs, which are used as outdoor living spaces during the warmer months. At the heart of the city lies the great monastery of The 3 Gods, unlike in other cities which have separate monasteries for the three Gods, this temple combines them as a display of unity between the three sects. The massive structure dominates the skyline, with its towering walls and intricate carvings. The monastery is home to a community of monks, who dedicate their lives to the study and practice of Tonpa. Surrounding the monastery are the homes of the nobility, who are known for their wealth and power. These grand estates are filled with beautiful gardens and courtyards, and are often adorned with intricate carvings and colorful murals. Outside the city walls, the landscape is dotted with small villages and nomadic encampments. These communities are home to herders and farmers, who make their living tending to the region's yaks and sheep. Despite its remote location, Dharmaling is a city of great importance, both culturally and politically. It is a place of pilgrimage for Monks, Merchants and laypeople from all over the world, and is also a hub of trade and commerce. The people of Dharmaling are proud of their heritage and their way of life, and are fiercely protective of their city and its traditions.
A 30 minute walk to the west of Dharmaling lies the Temple of Tong Thang, the Beehive Temple, as visitors approach the temple, they are greeted by the gentle humming of bees that buzz around the entrance, seemingly inviting them inside, the entrance is adorned with ornate wooden doors intricately carved with depictions of bees in flight, the temple is home to hundreds of bee colonies. The interior of the temple is a marvel of craftsmanship. The walls are adorned with honeycomb patterns carved into the stone, creating a mesmerizing visual display. Soft light filters through small openings in the dome-shaped ceiling, the centerpiece of the temple is a large altar made of honey-colored stone, adorned with intricate carvings of bees and honeycombs, where devotees offer their prayers and offerings. The Temple of Thong Tang is a place of worship dedicated to the reverence of bees and their significance in nature and the cycle of life, every day priests and priestesses of The Mother make their way to the temple to tend to the bees, bringing them water and sliced fruits, every year there is a festival outside the temple where priests and priestesses of Caihong distribute honey gathered from the bees.
Monyul is home to a large lake called Jangchub Tso, the lake is bordered by lush green forests and snow-capped mountains to the south-east, a product of Monyul's border with Taishigang.
On the edge of the lake there is a large city called "Gangri Thang", which is known for its fish markets and skilled boatwrights, nobles from the surrounding Kingdoms often commission boatwrights from Gangri Thang to build grand freshwater barges for them.
Several villages surround the lake, mostly fishing and farming communities, every spring fishermen from these villages make their way to Gangri Thang with hundreds of fish, hoping to hock their catch to fishmongers, tourists and Company of the Wind officers.
The fish they carry is mainly the several species of trout that live in the lake but a few of the lucky ones carry the Golden Mahseer, a gleaming fish variety that is said to be very difficult to catch, although the taste of the fish pales in comparison to the trout, the Golden Mahseer is revered for its scales that give off a vibrant golden glow, these scales are often used in ceremonial dress of the region adoring clothing and jewellery.
The people of Monyul are also skilled artisans, known for their intricate weavings and pottery. The kingdom is home to many workshops and marketplaces, where merchants sell their wares to buyers from all over the region. The people of Monyul are known for their skill at horsemanship, and the kingdom is home to some of the finest cavalry units in the region. The army of Monyul is also composed of archers and spearmen, who are trained in the art of mounted combat and guerrilla warfare.
The most prestigious regiment of Monyul is a cavalry unit called the White Tigers, the horsemasters of the White Tigers are known as the strictest in the Tonpa Kingdoms, if a horse fails a single training drill both the horse and rider are deemed unworthy. The White Tigers main weapon is a thick spear, painted red with a bronze spearhead, it has a heavy counterweight at the back that also doubles as a blunt weapon. Their secondary weapons are a heavy sword and a short bow.

2023.06.07 10:59 Timely_Huckleberry97 (Part 30 of a series) The Retail Punishment in Clovis
(Part 30 of a series) The Retail Punishment in Clovis Part 29 covered a lot of ground. This installment picks up with a few new points.
Also, I will try and outline the trouble that Clovis officers could find themselves in; âNightmare on Flatiron Parkwayâ coming to theaters near you!
(A) Equity Committee in place, any objections?! It is now well established that the Equity Committee is an essential party to these proceedings. Only the OEC is capable of representing equity interests which are demonstrably being opposed by both the debtors and creditors.
Since the OEC opposition, Clovis has made numerous concessions and modifications. This clearly shows the need for adversarial proceedings against the debtor which have yielded results.
(B) Negative Ruca sale price The debtors have made a crippling mistake by allowing Rubraca to be sold for negative dollars! This is something they cannot recover from, and puts the specter of fraud over the entire BK filing. Since they claim to have closed the sale they no longer have an avenue of somehow âadjustingâ the sale to take it into a Positive Ruca sale price.
There is an interesting angle here that
ESTABLISHES fraud. Let me explain how.
The key question is about the
timing of the decision to include Ruca inventory as part of the sale.
- After the auction: In this case, the bidder had put in a bid with no intent of getting inventory for free. So the company should charge for inventory considering that creditors are waiting for recovery. The company did not do so. It, of its own accord, chose to GIVE AWAY inventory for free. No, you cannot do so, when there are classes awaiting recovery. CLEAR FRAUD.
- Before the auction: If the company was planning to include inventory of $100 mn in the sale, then there should have been a corresponding bid minimum. Since that was not done, we are in a laughable scenario that the company is holding out a hundred dollar bill and singing like a carnival barker âSixty, sixty, do I hear a sixty five, seventy, sold for seventyâ. Really?? CLEAR FRAUD.
Sorry Clovis, your fraud has unraveled, and company officers will be paying a penalty and some going to jail.
(C) ODAC debacle FDA had clearly given Clovis two options, EITHER wait for OS data OR go in front of the ODAC. The OS data option was completely infeasible since data would take two years to mature and Clovis did not have that kind of financial runway. So really, ODAC was the ONLY option.
An ODAC presentation would have been something to look forward to considering the stellar PFS data. The whole reason that Athena results were delayed two times was because PFS was so strong it was preventing the requisite event related data. Considering that other front-line drugs were approved on the basis of PFS, it is a given that there would have been strong physician enthusiasm for Ruca.
In the above context, not going for ODAC is completely indefensible, and Pat and other officers can be NAILED on this point alone. Note that Gillian was one of the founders and she appears to have had a difference leading her to exit prior to BK. She needs to be deposed and held squarely responsible for this, unless she turns approver and throws Pat under the bus.
(D) Forensic analysis of expenses since Apr 2022 In my opinion the BK plan started getting crystalized after the fourth and final rejection of the share count increase proposal. Pat then had two goals: run down cash as much as feasible, and prevent regulatory successes that would value the assets higher.
First, we now know that Alix partners was engaged in the July timeframe to explore multiple options. How is it then that in September they entered a sourcing agreement with Isotopia? If cash conservation was the goal, how can one explain the money, time and effort spent on agreements like Isotopia? Was it that Novartis talks were in progress and Clovis was trying to preferentially spend money on FAP?
Second, why were strong headcount reductions not put in effect? This is such a simple and obvious measure to reduce the cash burn and I want to see the written documents where the cost benefit of this was explored and this option discarded. Instead, we had new requisitions being posted!
The interesting point is that Clovis is now publishing monthly results. We see that despite a headcount reduction of a fifth, revenue has not had a corresponding fall! This is the inelastic demand that I have previously written about. We now have DOCUMENTED PROOF that early headcount reductions would have prevented a spiral towards insolvency.
I believe that a forensic analysis of the accelerated spend since July, and comparing it to the prior quarter spending will yield interesting results!
(E) Excuse me, but your goose is cooked The company officers need to realize that the game is up. They can flutter and flap all they want but their goose is cooked. The biggest mistake they made was to underestimate the equity opposition, and now they are in a predicament that they cannot extricate themselves from. I have a poor opinion of the lack of strategic vision of the debtors counsel, what was that name again, Twinkly, Far, and Galloping?!
Pat thought of us as sheep, that he would come to us saying âYour money is all mineâ! Well, thatâs when we sheep turn feral, grow fangs, and get in the mood to leave bite marks that are life altering!
I had previously written that four company officers deserve punishment, but now have changed my view to ALL officers. Why should board members get a pass, being responsible for oversight? We need to go after the whole bunch, with the possible exception of one or two approvers who are willing to sing like a canary.
(F) Equity is in a position of strength We shareholders need to understand that our motivations are above board and can be presented in court. The entities opposing us are stronger than us but they have a corrupt agenda that they cannot state publicly on the record.
Can company officers admit in court that their hatred for retail investors made them act opposite to their fiduciary duties? No they cannot.
Can BP like AstraZeneca or Pfizer dare to stand up in court and state they wanted to neuter the competition in the PARP space? No they cannot, because the DOJ antitrust division is listening and they will be dragged over the coals.
Can the creditors open up that they actually have large short positions so their actual interest is share cancellation more than the full recovery that they claim to want? No they cannot.
These parties entered into this corrupt undertaking thinking that they will pull levers behind the scenes and get away with the heist of the century. Well, sunlight is the best disinfectant. Now that the SEC and DOJ are fully involved, these behind the scene players will see the writing on the wall and gently melt into the hedges. The only party that will be left to take the full heat of our rage are the Clovis officers.
Considering the widespread fraud by Clovis officers, it is the Official Equity Committee that will be in the driver's seat going forward with the parallel and supporting effort from the DOJ and SEC. The OEC needs to closely guard the whistleblowers until the right opportunity. Iâm looking forward to the DOJ Antitrust division becoming a party to the proceedings. We cannot have Bidenâs moonshot cancer initiative on one hand, and on the other, a key oncology asset that promises to displace the SOC for Prostate (a cancer known for poor prognosis) to be rendered impotent (pun intended) in the hands of an insignificant overseas company.
(G) Two options for Clovis officers Clovis officers need to realize that they cannot avoid the consequences of entering into bankruptcy fraud and the intent to eliminate equity. There is no getting around it. They need to figure out a way to minimize the punishment that is coming their way.
- Agree to a liquidation in Ch. 7
If Clovis requests the judge to turn it into a Ch. 7, and let the full company be put up for sale under court supervision, they may still be able to avoid the worst. There is a pent up investor anger that needs to be satisfied. If investors get a healthy share price, say $12, it would immediately reduce the severity of the remaining punishment. Heck, if the share price is good enough, they may even get the third party release that they so desperately want.
In this case, there is no financial impact to the officers. All that they are doing is allowing some BP to come in and give the proper valuation for the company assets.
- Dig in for a cage fight
If better sense does not prevail, the full investor anger will work its course out.
The first course of the OEC should be to prove BK fraud in front of Hon. Judge Stickles. Some people here automatically think the judge is on Clovisâ side. That may be incorrect. It is not lost on the judge that Equity Committee approvals are exceedingly rare. On top of that, the DOJ and SEC are fully engaged. Makes her wonder about the fire when there is so much smoke.
In the unlikely scenario that we do not prevail with fraud charges at this first level, there is the three member BAP bench to appeal to. The benefit of those proceedings will be that OEC will be represented from the get-go, and will be able to inform the bench about the seriousness of this case containing antitrust issues.
In parallel, a class-action can be started. There is a rich $50 mn. corpus that is available. I can imagine law firms falling over each other to get to a $20 mn payout to fully prosecute these crooks, including criminal charges. When there is a jury trial with everyday people like us who have lost our investments, that is when the full punishment will be given out.
If the fraud is proven within two years of the BK (more than enough time), the Ruca assets can also be clawed back and correctly sold in the market, making for even more recovery.
Make no mistake, if the company officers make it harder for us to corner them, our punishment will also be that much harder when we
DO CORNER THEM. By the time we are done with them, they will feel like a chew-toy in a cage of Rottweilers.
Iâm hoping that better sense will prevail, and the company officers will âchoose wiselyâ. But I have a feeling they wonât. Bring it!!
SPPAAAAAARTTAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
