HRT DAY 72: I feel too good right now!
2023.06.06 05:50 RedFumingNitricAcid HRT DAY 72: I feel too good right now!
Background: 34, AMAB, Autistic, DDDD cluster (DPDR), HRT 03/25/2923
Tonight I think I feel better than I have at any time in my life and frankly part of me is scared.
I didn’t do anything special today. I worked my usual 9 hours; HRT has given me back enough emotions the I have come to love my job and want to be a better and more profitable employee for my company, and I’m a fucking Marxist! I went home, cooked a Hello Fresh meal (Spicy Peruvian Chicken), walked on a treadmill for 65 minutes (“fat burn” program), and got ready for bed (wear I am now). I’ve barely interacted with my cats, except for preventing them from burning themselves while I cooked).
Visually I’m still the same overweight tall guy in the mirror. But seeing myself as I am now hasn’t spoiled this “high”(?). I probably need to shave in the morning, but that’s it. I did use a new face wash tonight: CeraVe exfoliating wash, but I can’t believe that is connected.
I’m only on a 0.05 mg/day E-patch regimen, with 50 mg spiro and 5 mg finasteride. I have an appointment on Saturday morning to with Planned Parenthood to hopefully (I won’t take “no” for an answer) to switch to a proper second puberty inducing injection regimen. I have been routinely feeling better all the time, but this likely temporary high is worthy of note.
I don’t use recreational drugs, other than alcohol: I had one shot earlier while already feeling better than ever. I know a few sobriety and coordination tests, and as far as I can tell I’m within my typical limits.
The only special thing I’ve done today is watch WW2 in Real Time’s D-Day 24 hour special broadcast; obviously not all of it.
Most likely I’m feeling the first post workout endorphin rush of my life. I’ve never had a “reward function” before and exercise was just tiring and painful. And if that’s the case, I should feel more typical in the morning.
But if I don’t, I know enough about neurology to know that any sudden improvement in mood that doesn’t go away is often a sign of neurological trouble. If this “high” doesn’t go away, I will go to the hospital.
Tomorrow I’m calling to book a laser hair removal consultation. That and Planned Parenthood are my GA related activities for this week.
Yours, eventually,
Maude Katherine [REDACTED]

2023.06.06 05:21 Extra-Imagination-67 Workout routines
Hey everyone, I’m finally ready to start getting back into the gym after being too scared for years. I’m going if one of my buddies which definitely helps. Only issue, I’m not sure what type of workout routine I should do. I was an athlete (thrower in track specifically) and worked out all of the time. I LOVE LIFTING, it’s my absolute favorite thing to do. I’m 5’6 and a natural muscular dude, very solid, but with some chub (which I love). I’m not necessarily trying to lose weight, just want to beef up muscle, especially in the chest. I would absolutely love advice or workout routines that people do/have done. I do have some things to keep in consideration though: 1- I’m hypermobile and have POTS, I have been in PT and feel much more safer working out, and I’m cleared to. 2- I am very comfortable with gym equipment and lifts, especially free weight equipment. I just need help more with routines. 3- I’m not trying to majorly change my diet, please no recommendations. My goal is to get muscular, not lose weight.
Yet again, I appreciate any advice, thanks!!!

2023.06.06 05:02 SkyrimDragongt Is my workout routine going to allow me to obtain my goals?
So I go to the gym and pretty much do the same exercises every other day (one day on one day off) for my goals I'm just looking to get alittle healthier, alittle bigger. Not trying to get massive or anything. Nothing to crazy, I'm 6,6 and 250 pounds and 29 years old. I wouldn't describe myself as unhealthy the only real fat I have is just alittle bit of a bigger belly but im certainly not fit by any means either.
Heres my workout routine:
Bench press Dumbbell curl Dumbell overhead press Tricep overhead extension Wrist curls Close grip barbell curl Seated cable row Lat pull down Machine fly Machine reverse fly Leg press Leg Extension Machines Lying leg curls Machine Standing calf raises Back extension
I do 4 sets of 10 with 1 to 2 minutes of rest between sets. I really try to focus on time under tension, form and nutrition. Generally by the last set I can barely do the last 9th or 10th repetition. I'm trying to hit most of the main areas of my body. I injured my back doing deadliest a few years ago and really don't wanna go back to that which is why I went with back extensions. Anyways just kinda wanted to see what you guys think and if this routine will help me reach my goals or not.

2023.06.06 04:36 User989396 Pituitary Adenoma
Not sure if I should post this here or somewhere else...but I just need advice and to vent...a lot has happened in a span of 1 month, more specifically in the last 5 days.
Some context/a little back story: Since April of last year, I've been working with a Physical Therapist. After a year of PT I was told by my therapist I was officially done. He then offered to take me on as a client for Personal Training. He suggested I try natural body building since the year prior I had put on 30 pounds of muscle working with him. I told him that sounded like an awesome idea!
The reason I'm mentioning this, is because I was put on a strict diet and workout routine. And once a week I've been going to see him for weigh-in's and just to talk about how everything is going. Well after 8 weeks of measurements, my trainer called me in to have a somewhat serious conversation. During the 8 weeks of training, my chest only grew 1cm. Whereas my legs grew more than 5cm. After he told me this, he asked me a bunch of random questions (I'll provide my answers as well):
- How long does it take to recover after a workout?
- It takes 3-4 days to recover. I told him it's been taking longer than normal.
- How has my sleep been lately?
- I tend to wake up 2-3 times a night. But this has been going on a few months.
- How have my energy levels been? Does caffeine do anything?
- I'm tired all of the time, and I can drink 2-3 Cold Brew Coffees from Starbucks and feel tired still.
- How has my libido been? Do I have a sex drive?
- (I thought this question was weird...) I told him that I don't really have one anymore.
- How often do you get headaches?
- I get them 2-3 days a week, but they're not that intense. I also explained how I get aura migraines and will go literally blind in my left eye. But I explained that headaches and migraines run in my family. My dad and brother get them all of the time. So I never thought twice about it.
- How stressed have I been?
- I was honest with him, I told him that since February of 2022, I've been a lawsuit that resulted in me losing my job. It took 13 months to find another job and during that time I went through a lot of personal things.
After I answered these questions, he told me he was concerned about my lack of progress since being with him. He explained that by week 6 of this 8 week program, I should have noticed results. Yet I barely grew at all. And barely lost any body fat, specifically in my lower back. He was especially concerned since the year prior I had gained 30 pounds of muscle. I shouldn't have suddenly plateaued this quickly. He told me he was going to speak with my doctor and suggested I set up an appointment to have my testosterone levels tested.
I scheduled an appointment to get the blood work done on May 5th. A week later, my results came in on May 12th. My doctor calls me and tells me that my
Testosterone came back at only 219. The "normal" range is 300 (low end) to 1100 (high end). Based on my diet, age (31 year old male), and how often I workout, my levels should be between 550 and 650. The fact that my levels were low and not even in the "normal" range alarmed him. However, he said that this didn't necessarily mean anything. He said I would need to get my levels tested again to confirm the results, and this time he was also going to test my
LH and
FSH levels.
- LH stimulates your testes to make testosterone, a hormone your body needs to produce sperm. Testosterone is also responsible for secondary sex characteristics, like a deeper voice and more body hair and muscle mass.
- FSH is a hormone released by the pituitary gland in the brain. In men, it stimulates testicular growth and helps produce a protein that plays a vital role in male fertility by aiding in the creation of normal sperm cells and maintaining them until they are ready to be released.
I scheduled my bloodwork again, for May15th, and came back May 23rd:
- My LH level came back at 1.3. The "normal" range is 1.8 - 8.6.
- My FSH came as 2.3. The "normal" range is 1.5 - 12.4.
- My Testosterone came back as 200. Slightly less than before.
On Wednesday of last week, my doctor gave me a call and went into more detail about all of the bloodwork that was done. He admitted right away that he was confused by results and concerned. (Can already tell this isn't going to be a "fun" conversation). He explained to me that because my LH, FSH and Testosterone are all on the low end (despite the FSH being barely in the normal range). The reason this alarmed him was because if one hormone is low, the other hormone will go into overdrive so the body can produce testosterone. However, since they're all low, it indicated that there was a strong possibility of a brain tumor called
Pituitary Adenoma pressing on the Pituitary Gland. These are also one of the very few tumors that can be determined by the hormone levels in the blood. He did mention that they're usually benign/non-cancerous. However, because I'm getting headaches and ocular migraines (on top of my other symptoms), they need to take this seriously/quickly.
He wasn't joking about moving quickly either. Since Wednesday of last week, I've had the following appointments scheduled:
- I had a doctors appointment today at 2pm to discuss everything in detail.
- I have another appointment on Thursday to evaluate how I'm doing physically.
- I have more bloodwork on Friday.
- They need to test EVERY SINGLE HORMONE to see how bad this is.
- I have to get an MRI w/contrast on Tuesday next week.
- Fun fact: I was told they have to put a cage on my head/shoulders so I don't move. I've never had an MRI before, so this is going to be fun...
- I have another appointment the following Friday to discuss my bloodwork and the start of hormone replacement therapy. I might have to find an endocrinologist for this, depending how low my hormone levels are.
- And depending on the results of the MRI, I have to meet with an oncologist and neurosurgeon.
- Cancerous or not, radiation therapy and surgery has already been mentioned as a strong possibility for treatment.
It hasn't hit me yet that this is happening to me. And I'm scared it won't become a reality until next Tuesday when I go in for my MRI. Luckily they're going to give me a bunch of happy drugs so I don't freak out. Right now, I feel like I'm stuck in time while the rest of the world is moving at a lightning pace.
The other issue is I'm having a very hard time focusing at work. I did tell my boss about my diagnosis and that I'm going to need a lot of time off over the next 2 to 3 weeks while I see these doctors to get an accurate diagnosis. He said not to worry about needing time off, but I am worried. I don't want to risk getting fired. My performance is already starting to fall because of this fog that I'm in. And he's noticing it...
What should I do at work? Has anyone else been through this before? Am I overreacting to feel this way? I know I need to take this one day at a time...but it just feels so surreal...

2023.06.06 04:34 egmorgan My doctor told me not to lift more than 20 pounds
First: I’m conscious of rule 2 here and not asking for medical advice. Just a rant.
I had been seeing an NP so far throughout my pregnancy (I’m 20 weeks) and she told me to continue doing my normal fitness routine and to listen to my body. I have her details on my fitness routine and she told me it all sounded good. She said not to do anything new and no new PRs. Sounded fair to me!
Today was the first appointment with the MD. I asked her for tips on traveling and she told me not to lift more than 20 pounds. I was shocked. I told her I come from a powerlifting background and have been lifting for years. She told me: “girl, you’re pregnant!”
I asked follow-up questions. Is this the same for every lift? Yes.
Wait - OHP and deadlift? Both 20?? Yes.
So…one-arm bench is 20 and two-arm is 10 each? Yes.
I told her this was barely any weight for me at all, and she told me for her it would be a lot of weight. Isn’t this the entire problem with this blanket statement??
I told her I wanted to be strong for labor. She told me not to worry about it and I’d get my strength back later.
I asked questions about ab workouts. I asked about deadbugs and bird/dogs. She didn’t know what they were. I explained them and she said they were safe, but cautioned me against planks because I could fall on my stomach (how???). She didn’t mention diastasis recti or coning.
She told me using a treadmill was fine. If there’s any concern about falling, wouldn’t it be that?
I am absolutely furious and incredulous. I was open to hearing new information but when I asked for further explanation she just repeated, “girl, you’re pregnant!”
I hate being in a position of going against doctor’s advice but this absolutely makes zero sense to me. I have had a very healthy pregnancy and have had no health issues or concerns at all.

2023.06.06 02:53 This-Introduction596 Full Body Workout
What's up fellas. I got a question for ya'll. First up context. I was a high level athlete until a significant injury derailed me early in college. Afterwards, I fell off the wagon and stopped working out. I recently decided to stop being a skinny fat piece of shit, and get back in the gym (29 now). Retraining is going well. I'm just shy of a year in lifting hard and cutting for ~6 months. I was doing bro splits, 3-4 x per week, just over 1 hr workouts.
OK, question time. I just changed up my routine to do full body 4x per week. 1 lift per muscle group (14 lifts total, 4 sets eavh). My workouts are taking me 2:15 on average. Is this too long to be productive long term? Should I cut to 3 sets each or drop a few lifts each day? I'm doing fine now, but idk if this will be counterproductive long term, or I will burn out.
Thanks brothas!

2023.06.06 02:38 french_lover 34 [M4F] #sanfrancisco French Man available for a good time.
Hey Reddit, I’m a 34 y/o French male located in San Francisco downtown. Fit and good looking ( I can share more in DM ).
I value respect, safety and communications so we will have to talk a bit before jumping into anything. After those along with your desires are established I’m available mostly weekdays for a good evening together and I can host or travel.
More about myself:
I have a routine workout to keep myself healthy and in shape. I like movies, live concerts and music ( super varied and open minded on that front ). I work in tech ( surprisingly ) and been in the bay for 10y+. My French accent is not as strong at it used to be but people tell me still sexy AF.
I’m tested regularly and will show proof. I’m asking for the same with you.
PS. You will get through a verification process so scammers don’t waste your time with me.
Looking forward to hear from you :)

I started my journey around last December and i found ways to keep my mind from breaking off into the pmo zone. This is basically for noobies on what I'm about to say. Make a morning schedule with a workout routine and a morning ritual like counting to 60 in the shower. DO NOT say the Masturbation or any of that it will make you think about it more and more until you do it and last go outside and start the day with a nice glass of water

https://imgur.com/a/073Y8rn I really like looking at everyone’s progress posts so I decided to post mine. Never worked out in a gym until 4 months ago. I set a goal early on I wanted to bench 1 plate. Started at 65lb bench. Took me 4 months but I did it!
I’ve included a photo of my routine, any tips or thoughts welcome. I do about 3 sets per exercise but it depends on warm up sets/drop sets. Sometimes I do more or less depending how hard I go. My daily workouts are ~75 minutes.
I average about 130g of protein a day and no less than 115g. Peanut butter smoothies have been amazing for helping get extra calories. Next goal is body weight bench press!

2023.06.06 02:03 PegaLaPapa Proper Sauna Etiquette Suggests I Bring 3 Towels to the Gym
TLDRead First: Proper sauna etiquette seems to suggest I rinse and dry off before sauna (towel count: 1), then sit in the sauna either on a towel or with towel wrapped around me (towel count: 2), then take a cold shower after (towel count: 3). I use the sauna that is included in the gym I go to. My current routine is finish workout, take off shirt and go into sauna in just my gym shorts with cotton underwear underneath. I also wear shower slides for personal hygiene. Then I take a cold shower after. My current routine only requires me to bring 1 towel to the gym each visit + a small towel I use to wipe sweat off my face while I'm in the sauna.
Full Post: Hello People of
Sauna! Sorry in advance for the wall of text...
Intro: The title is maybe a little misleading but I've been getting into using the sauna as part of my gym routine and really been enjoying the benefits! However I have a few questions about realistically incorporating best sauna practices in to my gym visits. I hope this can lead to a productive conversation as to why sauna etiquette is different in public gyms in the USA. Please don't just write me off as a disgusting gym bro!
Also I will be saying "proper sauna etiquette" a lot in this post. This refers to my current understanding from research I've done. Sorry if I misrepresent anything!
Currently I don't have the money for a personal sauna, so I use the sauna at the gym I go to. I understand that the sauna has many traditions around it, and I want to respect them the best I can. That being said using a public sauna at a gym in the United States does seem to have a different culture around it. I hope this doesn't offend anyone (I'm not trying to use this as an excuse to disregard all traditions, it is just the reality of the situation).
For example, I know it is traditional to enter the sauna naked and sit on a towel. However at my gym there are a lot of high schoolers, and I don't feel comfortable exposing myself to underage children every time I go in to the sauna. It is also a small 3 person sauna, so having to sit that close to someone naked would make most people in the USA uncomfortable, even if I myself was okay with it.
The Routine: As I said in the TLDR, it seems like pretty much everyone at the gym will finish their workout, then takes their shirt off and sits in the sauna in either their shorts or their just their underwear. Some times there are people sitting in a towel. I've never seen a single person in the sauna who is naked.
This is pretty much the routine I follow. I finish my workout, take off my shirt and sit the the sauna for about 15-30 minutes. I also wear my shower slides in the sauna because I'm concerned about athletes foot. I'll bring my water bottle and a small towel into the sauna with me to wipe sweat off my face. I then take a nice cold shower and dry off with the towel I brought with me.
If I were to use proper etiquette I would need to bring 3 towels to the gym every visit instead of only 1. This would mean I would need to buy more towels and do more laundry, because I do not reuse towels I take to the gym. I will use it once then put it in the laundry bin when I get home. Currently I have to wash 3-5 towels a week, but if I followed proper etiquette I would be washing 9-15 towels a week.
As I've done research I realize that my routine will probably disgust most the people on this sub, but that seems to be how everyone at the gym I go to here in the USA uses the sauna, as it is the most convenient way to use the sauna.
I think a big problem is my gym charges an extra $10 a month for towel service, so that would be an extra $120 a year. I also don't know if they would give me 3 towels every time I walk in, but for $10/month I would hope I get unlimited towels... That would be the only way I would consider using this service.
My gym is also very clean, they seem to constantly be cleaning the gym equipment and the sauna. I've never entered the sauna and smelled BO or straight ass, I am always met with that pleasant warm wood smell.
The gym also doesn't really do anything to enforce/promote proper sauna etiquette. So unless people chose to do research they won't really even realize they are using the sauna incorrectly.
I also want to note I realized the sauna was making my hair frizzy, so I bought a wool sauna hat and wear it in the sauna now and love it!
Questions: - Realistically, how important is the shower before the sauna?
- It seems the rinse before/sitting on a towel is to respect the sauna and keep it clean. But if I am the only person practicing this etiquette and the gym is regularly cleaning the sauna, is it really worth the hassle? (I know that is a bit of a fallacy.... but it is also the reality)
- Do you think it would be worth it to pay the extra $10 a month to use the towel service so I can use 3 towels every visit? Or the other option would be investing in more towels and accepting doing more laundry, as well as carrying in 3 towels each visit.
Final Thoughts: I have a feeling most people are going to say just pay the towel service and follow proper etiquette. But I also hope this post can help some people understand why sauna usage is different in public gyms in the USA. I will agree gym bros can be pretty disgusting, but I think a lot of it is a result of efficiency/convenience. If you made it this far thanks for reading and I'd love to hear your feedback.

So i can finally afford to go to the gym at last! Im wondering if there’s any good exercices for complete beginners who don’t really do any kind of working out. I don’t want to end up walking on a treadmill for 10 minutes and giving up because I feel lost. I’d also like to not just do cardio but I’m not sure where to begin. Any advice?

2023.06.06 01:07 i_Braeden Sudden Law Enforcement Physical Test for Client
| I have 1 week for this client to get his endurance and conditioning for the rest up. I’m curious on input as I never really train people specifically for this but more so just for movement in general, no short term stuff like this. With that being said, this client can move really well, form is perfect, but conditioning is close to not passing. How would you structure out a daily routine to work on these week points? 23 push-ups no time limit has to stay flat and can set anything down. - I’m thinking about having them training super slow push-ups, maybe 10 every hour throughout the day and some 4x10 sets in a workout.
30 sit-ups 1 minute: tested at 25 but after reviewing the sheet they only require elbows to knees. - I’m thinking of similar to the push-up work.
1.5 miles in 16:57: my client is super stressed about this. They never run, and even a mile is hard for them, tested 1 mile they took 9:20. - I’m thinking of having them do a every other day mile aiming for a 9:00 pace and really focusing on controlling their pace. And then maybe some 1 run 3 walk for 27 minute days.
Please let me know how you guys would approach this, if it was a month fine, but this is 7 days. Some of the things they can crush, so I’ve only included these things that are a concern, Not to mention the volume of all these things back to back cardio vascular wise for this client. We have 7 days! We don’t want to just barely pass as these scores will effect who they pick. submitted by i_Braeden to personaltraining [link] [comments] |

2023.06.06 00:53 MotiLizard Exercises for body fat loss - aim for slimming down chubby cheeks
So I want to start hitting the gym after my exams. My first main goal is to lower my body fat percentage to try and slim down my cheeks and get a more defined jawline (also to lose some weight and become slimmer). Are there any specific workout routines that I can follow to achieve that? Thank you very much :)
Is there also any special food restriction and requirement to speed up the process? I am still a growing teenager so I dont know if diet would slow down my height growth.

2023.06.06 00:37 Familiar-Let-5035 My body feels like a prison
I'm 5'1 150lbs AFAB. I'm top heavy with no ass and I'm built like a Rottweiler. Nothing fits me right, ever. I'm not proportioned like a standard AFAB person so women's clothing looks weird on me. I'm nonbinary so I wear a lot of men's clothes too but my tits make all of my shirts billow out and I look 30 pounds heavier than I am. Because I'm so short, my max calorie intake to avoid weight gain is like 1300-1500.
I have hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome so not only am I in pain all the time at my baseline, I injure myself very easily while exercising and putting on muscle is extremely difficult. Maintaining a workout routine feels impossible and only gets harder every year.
Because of this, it's also inadvisable for me to take up self-defense classes like MMA or muay thai. I had to give up pole dancing because the pain was unbearable and was hindering my progress. I still have a pole that sits unused in my closet.
In high school I was so thin that I was turned down from the school blood drive and I don't even remember what I looked like. Now I'm just puffy and frumpy looking and I'm never comfortable in any of my clothes. I can't imagine what it feels like to be in a body that I'm not constantly scanning for faults. I always feel like I take up so much space. I just want to be thinner and feel better about myself but I have so much standing in my way and it feels like I'll never get anywhere near my goals.
