How hard is it to achieve a 40 ish Avg study score

2023.06.07 11:40 Scorpsal How hard is it to achieve a 40 ish Avg study score

Hello, I am a current year 10 thinking of getting a 98+ atar for my uni course, I am taking 1/2 physical education and am doing well and hoping to achieve a 45 - 50 study score in year 11.
I aim to do 1-2 hours every day in year 11 for the subject and maybe more if I have an upcoming sac/exam, how achievable would this be for the average student ? to get a 45-50 with 2ish hours a day usually?

My second query is how achievable is it to get a 40 study score in these subjects with my listed time studying:
- Math Methods
- Specialist maths
- English
- Biology
- Chemistry
On average I want to study 26 hours a week in year 11 and 31 hours a week in year 12, Is this achievable for a decently good student in year 10?
If anyone still remembers or is currently doing vce could you tell me how much revision you did in years 11 and 12 and what scores you got?
Thank you to anyone who comments or helps

2023.06.07 11:38 Big_Iron_Cowboy Mod Team - Second Ecumenical Council - r/Christendom will go offline from June 12th-June 14th to protest changes to the Reddit API that effects 3rd party apps

Good morning friends,
As the moderation team of Christendom, we have concerns about recent changes to Reddit.
A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface.
This isn't only a problem for users: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
Accordingly, the moderation team of Christendom is declaring its opposition to this API pricing change, and will be shutting down the subreddit in solidarity for 48 hours starting June 12th.
How can you help?
- Share this news with others in different subreddits and social media platforms you are active on.
- Message the mods of reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit, voice your complaint about the planned changes.
- Boycott Reddit on June 12th - June 14th, stay off of Reddit during this time and spread the word in support on other sites.
We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause. We love being able to share edifying Christian content here with one another every day. We hope that by the collective effort of this protest we may continue to do that in this our growing community for a long time to come!
Yours in Christ,
The Second Ecumenical Council of Christendom

2023.06.07 11:37 RubyStarlight1209 How do you write consistently (Both in writing and characterisation)

I love writing. I really do. I enjoy seeing a story type itself out on the page, and rereading it later. But most of the time it just doesn’t… Interest me?
Most of the time, I get the urge to write something, anything. But when I go search for a prompt, nothing stands out to me. The fandoms I frequent are more of a passing interest than a real fandom I can get attached to, so even when I see something I can write, I lose interest pretty quickly. I also lose motivation pretty quickly — I can write out a whole outline or even like four chapters in a row, but then the next day it just… Seems uninteresting? Even when I try to find my earlier drafts, it just feels the same. A new idea is really fun in the first few hours, then it becomes bland.
My second problem is characterisation. I have a problem with making my characters mary sue-ish. Even when I try to give them some parts of their canon personalities while changing other parts (Canon character is cheerful, overconfident, self-sacrificial, my character still acts cheerful but is much more cautious, and still self-sacrificial), but it feels like it’s a completely different character. Most of my favourite characters have this characteristic that everyone seems to get right consistently but I just can’t write. How do you guys make your characters’ personalities reminiscent to their canon self while changing parts of it?
My favourite character archetype is the elegant and formal but still nice (Maybe kind of naive) type. Confidentially, my favourite characters/the main characters of the fandoms I frequent are more of the confidant, brash types… Even when I use Alternate universe and actually change the past (A certain event not happening) to get the personality change to make sense, it just feels too much like an oc instead of the character I want them to be.
Finally, my writing style is… Formal-ish? Like, the dialogue. Whenever I write dialogue it just becomes really formal/polite/flowery/straight up philosophical. The feeling is like you’re in some important political meeting instead of having a causal conversation. When I try making it more causal it becomes a weird mix of causal style and flowery wordplay.
Sorry for the long post, but if you have any advice or similar experiences please comment. Thank you.

2023.06.07 11:34 AdSpirited2412 3 - 2 nap transition??

5.5month old.
Looking for guidance on when you knew to drop to 2 naps? I don’t think we are ready just yet but feel like it’s not too far off.
LO woke at 6:30 this morning. First nap was 8:30- 9:15, second nap was 12.10 until 1:30, last nap was 4:10 until 4:30
Some of his WW are getting close to 3 hours (especially the one prior to lunchtime.. if I put him down earlier, then he has a short nap) and I’m struggling to fit naps in before bedtime of 7.
Do I continue on with this routine until it no longer works? Or start the transition?
He sleeps 7 until 6:30 or 7 without any feeds overnight (when he wakes at 7 is when I struggle a bit to fit the naps in)
Goes down independently for naps and bedtime.
Any advice or success stories welcome!!

2023.06.07 11:32 Nuttcases Poor sleep & strange snoring

First time posting here, so I hope I did this right. I'm happy to answer any questions.
My husband gets really poor sleep, and I am hoping I can convince a doctor to have him do a sleep study or something. Unfortunately, our insurance doesn't kick in for a couple months, so I'm hoping I can get some advice here in the meantime.
Despite being in bed and unconscious for 8+ hours at night, my husband often wakes up tired. He has semi-regular headaches and I wonder if they might be due to exhaustion. The headache usually subsides if he gets a decent nap. He's tried a few different sleep aides and those nostril strip thingies, but nothing has helped so far.
The thing that I find really strange is his snoring. It doesn't sound normal to me. There are two types that occur the most frequently. The first is a weird half-snore that just shakes the bed. It's like he inhales only half a breath, but then his body wants to exhale a whole breath. His stomach tightens at the end, like he's squeezing out as much air as possible. The second snore he does sometimes is a "backwards" snore. I say it's backwards because the noise happens on the exhale. He'll inhale a breath without too much difficulty, but then on the exhale it's like his nose just decides it doesn't wanna do it. His mouth doesn't open, so it's like someone's trying to do the motorboat sound with their lips pressed together too tightly.
Sometimes shifting his position helps with breathing at night, but only rarely. He says he has mucus sometimes, so he'll try to elevate himself with pillows, but that doesn't always help.
EDIT: Forgot these details.... My husband is 28, no illnesses or medications. He doesn't even drink alcohol. He's 5'5" and I don't recall his exact weight, but he does have a gut that he's been trying to lose through exercise. Sleeping issues started before the exercise (we were even hoping exercise would help him sleep, no luck)

2023.06.07 11:31 shokuhoumisakifan27 [Spoilers, DIRECTOR’S CUT, Endgame] Peter Englert

I’ve been trying to 100% the game and I’ve just got a few little things left, biggest one being this guy. Apparently other people have had this problem as well, I’m not getting any new emails from him. The last delivery I did was the second one from south knot and doing that one gave me two and a half stars on him, connected him to the UCA, and unlocked his basement. I then played the game for another seven hours, doing lots of deliveries and sleeping a ton. Never getting any mail from him. I have every other porter at five stars.
The only thing I can think of is that the progression is bugged, the few clips I’ve found of people doing the second delivery show it not increasing the star level.
I still have the save from before I did delivery 2 if that helps, did the delivery a couple times different ways and nothing changed
Any tips from anyone who has encountered this bug?

2023.06.07 11:29 wrongtailedbeast Parents don't want me and my spouse to go out of India.

I have been working in Tech consulting since last 4 years post MBA from one of the tier 1 college. Things had been pretty good in the past but since last six months there has been too much uncertainty in my present work condition. I have been on bench since last 3 months and the overall job security scenario looks grim.
In the midst of this, I have got a good offer from a consultancy firm based out of London who are ready to sponcer mine and wife's visa. It is also among my dream role and the exposure I would get will be immense.
Told about this to parents today and since then there has been a somber atmosphere in home. Mother had been crying since last 3 hours and father is making me realise all the things they have done for me. I seriously don't know how to convince them as I would not want to go if they are not happy about it. But this is also a lifetime opportunity for me which I am going to regret if not taken now.
Kindly suggest what I should do and if anyone has faced similar situation please.
Edit - They believe that I won't be coming back to India if I take this opportunity and will settle there and they have to live alone in their old age.

2023.06.07 11:28 FenceWhisperer Transmission swap

Transmission swap
Howdy folks, I recently purchase a 2015 f-350 powerstroke. I’ve noticed that after a few hours of towing my 44’ toyhauler my transmission will start to shudder under acceleration in first and second gear, trans temp is normal when it starts to shudder. The truck now has 66k on it.
Do y’all think a flush and filter would fix it or am I just better off replacing/repairing the current one? I tow alot, often and it’s usually 1200+ miles away.
What’s a good aftermarket transmission.
And who has a trustworthy weight loss kit for this truck as well?

2023.06.07 11:27 ruskibeats Do you share your at working from home workspace with others in your family?

We are a 4 person working family all with different working from home policies and we often find ourselves all working from home on the same day.
Do you "share" your space with other family members?
We are lucky to have a two man study, yet my wife refuses to share, my son is in his bedroom leaving my daughter and I sharing the kitchen table with three dogs and a doorbell that seems to never stop ringing and foot traffic from a son and wife as they get yet another cup of tea, biscuits, crisps followed by the obligatory "don't mind me"
It has now got to the point where I "leave for work" and either head to the local hotel which is 10 minutes away or drive the hour to the office.
Do you share or are you holed up in some room/shed/ ??

2023.06.07 11:27 Bekfist5775 From Hedonism to Asceticism - Second Week

Hello everybody !
Second week of my asceticism journey is now complete, and things are going pretty smoothly.
First of all there has been a lot of moving in and out so I was fearing that some of my new habits would suffer from it. But not really, I am still consistent with progress on my five little goals I set for myself.
Chocolate : I am not even thinking about it anymore, my craving for sugary things has been replaced with hunger. Instead of yearning for cakes or chocolate at 4pm, I have become used to preparing sandwiches or eating a banana or kiwi (kiwi is the best fruit)
Video games : Still on my one hour a day limitation. My gaming sessions have been a lot more enjoyable because I would ask myself beforehand on what game I would spend my hour on instead of scrolling endlessly through my steam library.
Writing in my journal : Forgot to do it on two days but still consistently writing in it. It has been a great tool of self reflection and I am happy that in a few years I will be able to get back to these thoughts and see them through a new light brighten by life experiences.
Phone and scrolling : Still didn’t have time to buy a dumbphone, but I already got used to just not use my smartphone that often any more. I uninstalled every social media except the messenger apps that I use to communicate with family and friends. I also put my screen in black and white, don’t know if that will help much but I like the style. In terms of usage I generally abandon it in a drawer before going to the toilets or going to eat (in the past it would follow me everywhere so not having it on me 24/7 is a win). I still have the problem with going on websites and scrolling when on my computer so I will consider the option of webpages blocking PlugIns to target this particular issue.
Sleep schedule : Has been a bit shaken up by the whole « moving from one place to another » part, but it’s still not as bad as my previous « go to sleep at 3am and wake up at 12pm » routine.
An issue is that now I have a lot of free time. Exams period has ended (for now) and I’ll be taking real vacations until the end of the week because I cannot bring myself to look again at my lessons. So that leaves me a ton of time, which made me bored. So I tried out new things, one of which meditation. I did not understand until now what the deal was with meditation. I saw it as a « think of nothing for 30 minutes » but stumbling upon a guided meditation session on the TIDE app made me realise that meditation is not just « think nothing ». There never was an obligation to be able to think of nothing, but on the contrary, one can lean into the fact that thoughts are inevitable and just observe them. See them as what they are without judgments.
I cannot emphasize enough how much of a revelation this was to me. I have now done it several times during the past few days and I can safely say that I enjoy it. I’ll make it my sixth new habit: « meditate every day for at least 10 minutes ».
Also trying right now cold showers and going back to doing sports now that I have plenty of time to do so.
I'll report my progress in a week or in a month, depending on how eventfull things get. I feel like an upcoming challenge will be my exams results next week so yeah I might report on this.
Thanks a lot for reading!

2023.06.07 11:23 Head_Shaker Back to Detox

Well, it’s back to detox for me. I had planned to do it at home, but my wife and therapist all but insisted that I go to detox. I've been talking to a counselor at a local treatment center for about a year off and on too. He very strongly recommended detox too. He’s been in recovery 13 years. So…I finally agreed…Mostly for preservation of my marriage. I leave at 4pm today.
I guess it’s a good idea anyway since I have the means and it will ensure that I don’t use. They can help make it a little more comfortable for me too. This is my second time in detox for kratom. I suspect this acute WD will be my worst. I’ve been using for a total of 5 years with a 1.5 month break 11 months ago. I’ve been doing 3-5 extract capsules along with 60-80 regular capsules per day for the last couple months.
Anyway, I’ll be back on here for encouragement and to share my progress as soon as I get access to the internet again. Time to rid myself of this truly horrible substance for good!

2023.06.07 11:23 sublimeload420 How accurate is the PCR?

I had an unprotected one night stand last weekend. It was a lapse in judgement. This week, i saw what I can only describe as a second degree burn on the tip. No redness, no nothing. Only it was days later after the hook up. Friction burn?
Doc had me swab it, which I abrased it until the pale skin came off (again, looked like a burn without the redness, like pruney waterlogged skin without the wrinkles), and put that swab into the vial. He then drew blood and had me pee in a cup (not in that order). All the tests came back negative. Which makes no sense because I tested positive for HSV1 over a decade ago from sharing cigarettes as a teen. It outbreaks maybe once every 2 years.
How is the PCR negative for HSV1? How can I trust the negative result for HSV2?
Ive been putting neosporin on it and drinking turkey tail tea, but I went to the ER the second I saw that pale skin dome encircling my urethra. I wasn't taking or outting anything on it until after I got home (in case it was something else) It was tingly up until today. Short lived at 4 days, but the dome receded and came back as a tinier dome 36 hours after it vanished. No blister, no crusting, no itching.
I was hoping you might have more insight on next steps. I don't trust the blood test, but without a "sore", I've got nothing to swab.
Thanks for listening.

At San Diego Comic-Con in July, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had other people raising eyebrows when he said that his long-awaited superhero debut in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts would be the beginning of “a new era” for the DC Extended Universe naturally followed: What did he mean? And what would that kind of reset mean for the remainder of DCEU's roster, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the rest of the Justice League, Suicide Squad, Shazam and so on.As

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts neared theaters, though, Johnson clarified that statement in a recent sit-down with Yahoo Entertainment (watch above).

“I feel like this is our opportunity now to expand the DC Universe and what we have in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which I think is really cool just as a fan, is we introduce five new superheroes to the world,” Johnson tells us. Aldis Hodge's Hawkman, Noah Centineo's Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell's Cyclone and Pierce Brosnan's Doctor Fate, who together comprise the Justice Society.) “One anti-hero.” (That would be DJ's Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.)

“And what an opportunity. The Justice Society pre-dated the Justice League. So opportunity, expand out the universe, in my mind… all these characters interact. That's why you see in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, we acknowledge everyone: Batman , Superman , Wonder Woman, Flash, we acknowledge everybo****here's also some Easter eggs in there, too.So that's what I meant by the resetting. Maybe resetting' wasn't a good term.only

In addition to being Johnson's DC Universe debut, “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” is also notable for marking the return of Henry Cavill's Superman. The cameo is likely to set up future showdowns between the two characters, but Hodge was completely unaware of it until he saw the film.

Is Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Streaming on Disney Plus?

Unfortunately, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is not currently available to stream on Disney Plus and it's not expected that the film will release on Disney Plus until late December at the absolute earliest.

While Disney eventually releases its various studios' films on Disney Plus for subscribers to watch via its streaming platform, most major releases don't arrive on Disney Plus until at least 45-60 days after the film's theatrical release.

The sequel opened to $150 million internationally, which Disney reports is 4% ahead of the first film when comparing like for likes at current exchange rates. Overall, the global cume comes to $330 million. Can it become the year's third film to make it past $1 billion worldwide despite China and Russia, which made up around $124 million of the first film's $682 million international box office, being out of play? It may be tough, but it's not impossible. Legging out past $500 million is plausible on the domestic front (that would be a multiplier of at least 2.7), and another $500 million abroad would be a drop of around $58 million from the original after excluding the two MIA markets. It'd be another story if audiences didn't love the film, but the positive reception suggests that Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will outperform the legs on this year's earlier MCU titles (Multiverse of Madness and Love and Thunder had multipliers of 2.2 and 2.3 respectively).

As for the rest of the box office, there's little to get excited about, with nothing else grossing above $10 million as Hollywood shied away from releasing anything significant not just this weekend but also over the previous two weekends. When Black Panther opened in 2018, there was no counterprogramming that opened the same weekend, but Peter Rabbit and Fifty Shades Freed were in their second weekends and took second and third with $17.5 million and $17.3 million respectively. That weekend had an overall cume of $287 million compared to $208 million this weekend Take away the $22 million gap between the two Black Panther films and there's still a $57 million gap between the two weekends. The difference may not feel that large when a mega blockbuster is propping up the grosses, but the contrast is harsher when the mid-level films are the entire box office as we saw in recent months.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which is the biggest grosser of the rough post-summer, pre-Transformers: Rise of the Beasts season, came in second with just $8.6 million. Despite the blockbuster competition that arrived in its fourth weekend, the numbers didn't totally collapse, dropping 53 % for a cume of $151 million. Worldwide it is at $352 million, which isn't a great cume as the grosses start to wind down considering its $200 million budget. Still, it's the biggest of any film since Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, though Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will overtake it any day now.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts came in third place in its fourth weekend, down 29% with $6.1 million, emerging as one of the season's most durable grossers and one of the year's few bright spots when it comes to films for adults. The domestic cume is $56.5 million Fourth place went to Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, which had a negligible drop of 5% for a $3.2 million sixth weekend and $40.8 million cume., in fact )

, which isn't surprising considering it's the only family film on the market, and it's Transformers: Rise of the Beasts to grossing four times its $11.4 million opening. Still, the $72.6 million worldwide cume is soft given the $50 million budget , though a number of international markets have yet to open.

Finishing up the top five is Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which had its biggest weekend drop yet, falling 42% for a $2.3 million seventh weekend. Of course, that's no reason to frown for the horror film, which has a domestic cume of $103 million and global cume of $ 210 million from a budget of just $20 million. asdfsdf

2023.06.07 11:19 Acceptable_Amoeba_37 760(Q50,V44) - resources used and lessons learnt

I got a few questions on the resources I used, so I thought I would make a detailed writeup of the same.
Disclaimer: This is not a piece of general advice, I am just documenting some of the things that worked for me. There are many experts in this sub who are qualified to give out advice, I am most definitely not one of them. Take this post with a pinch of salt. What worked for me might not work for you.
Free resources in the end.
TL;DR
  1. Quant - Wizako/ Gmat Club forum quiz
  2. Verbal - TTP(initial months)/ Gmat Ninja video series/ GMAT Club expert replies
  3. Have a guessing strategy and game plan for test anxiety, don’t lose control over the test at any point
  4. Don’t just think of what resources to use, think of when to use those resources as well. (Eg. doing gmat club practice in the initial stages felt overwhelming for me. I utilized it in a much more effective way after I was done with the basics)
  5. Be kind to yourself, get enough sleep, and fake it till you make it!
  6. Don't get disheartened if things don't go your way, a successful GMAT attempt depends on a lot of factors in addition to your prep. Your mindset and luck are factors as well. Keep going at it, it gets better!
Resources I used:
Quant:
  1. Although I am comfortable with quant more than with verbal, my basics were a bit rusty. I used the GMAT Quant core course from Wizako. I used this course to brush up on the basics. Although I used this course many months back, I frequented my notes from this course throughout my prep. They have a Youtube channel, you can check it out to see whether their style suits you. https://gmat.wizako.com/gmat-online-course-gmat-online-coaching-classes.shtml?gclid=CjwKCAjwsvujBhAXEiwA_UXnAK7fJppKZeq-T782xPruwFdSaR6zFVmE5l0c5SboqYLq9XAJpaBdPBoCz-0QAvD_BwE#fees
  2. After getting my basics in place, I started practicing with official questions. For the next few weeks, my efforts were quite scattered. In retrospect, having a structured approach would have expedited my prep - more on this later
  3. I purchased the TTP 4 months plan, however, I could not properly utilize the course as I had a very busy couple of months at work. Based on my experience, it is a very comprehensive course. It can be a game changer if you know how to utilize it well. Many people here feel that it is too vast, but I feel that is in good measure. They start from the absolute basics, and it is a very well-made course. I utilized TTP majorly for Verbal as it was my major pain point, and I was very satisfied with it(more on this in the verbal section)
  4. Once my basics were in place I realized that it was not my accuracy but my poor time management that was the bigger problem. This was my major takeaway from my first official test from a quant perspective.
  5. I fixed my timing problem with practice, get comfortable with the discomfort. I practised using forum quiz, and GMAT Club tests. GMAT club tests are really good, you can utilize this resource to get your time management skills in place. I would still say that they are not the same as OG questions, so DON'T skip out on OG questions. Getting an understanding of what skills the GMAT tests was an eye-opener. I also got GMAT club tests for free for 4 weeks. I got 2 weeks free for filling up an error log survey and an additional 2 weeks free for signing up for MBA Spotlight within 48 hours of its announcement. Watch out for such promotions to get some free resources.
  6. After practising for a while, I could see myself getting better at time management. My next pain point was careless math mistakes, I made a TONNE of them. I downloaded my error log from GMAT club, and in the week before the test, I revisited every official question that I got wrong and checked if I still made the same mistakes. If I made those mistakes even after practice, I re-read those concepts. I was making such mistakes even in the days leading to the test, anxiety was the root cause for such mistakes. I spent the last few days before my test working on my test anxiety.
Verbal:
  1. I spent the initial months of my prep doing a variety of resources, my prep was not structured at all. I used Powerscore CR Bible - a good resource to get some basics in place. I used Powerscore RC bible for RC, I found that to be helpful for me. I got comfortable with RC fairly quickly, so I did not spend much time on RC.
  2. GMAT Ninja Verbal series on Youtube is a godsend, I cannot stress how useful the entire series was, and the best part it is FREE. A lot of experts here say that GMAT verbal is not just about the rules, it seemed bizarre to me at first, but I understood what that meant after watching the GMAT Ninja videos. Watching those videos was a Eureka moment for me. I benefited a lot from the SC series especially. I felt that I could appreciate the videos better after I had some basics in place.
  3. I used TTP for verbal, especially for SC. TTP deserves every bit of credit it gets for making such a comprehensive course. Although I could not go through it completely, I greatly benefited from the verbal prep material. I referred to my SC notes from TTP multiple times during my prep journey. If you have the means and time to use TTP, go for it, but before that have a basic understanding of what your weak areas are. Use the free trial to get a feel of the course, and go for it when you are ready. Since the course is very vast, you might not have time to go through all of it, but having a clear idea of what you want in any resource will help you utilize it to the fullest.
  4. Read to understand the structure in RC, RC passages usually tire you out with a lot of details. Ensure that you don't lose track of the main idea, the structure, and what each paragraph tries to achieve in a structural sense. This helped me get most of the RC questions correct.
  5. SC is beyond the grammar rules. Don’t get me wrong, you need the rules to get to a basic level, but just that won't get you the right answer, especially in the more difficult questions. Reading for meaning is the way to go, GMAT Ninja videos helped me get this understanding. You have to be very literal with SC, I thought of SC like a puzzle.
  6. I am not the best person to comment about CR as that was my most difficult section, I tanked that in my first test. I learned that I did not keep track of the conclusion, so I fell for many trap answers. A few days before the test, Marty suggested I watch his Youtube video, it helped!! Thank you, Marty :) GMAT Ninja videos helped too. Like in SC, just understanding the patterns(eg. What are the typical right answers in a strengthen question?) will only get you so far, you need to understand what the main conclusion is and how the whole argument ties to it. Sometimes CR has seemingly bizarre correct answers, having a logical approach will help in such cases.
  7. GMAT CLUB - Just drilling OG questions will not be very effective. I used the forum quiz feature to practise in sets of 10-20 questions. I would later analyze each and every question, even the ones I got right. I used to read the expert replies and understand the concept. Once you get the hang of what qualifies as a right answer in GMAT, you will break your plateau, trust me on this.
  8. As mentioned earlier, I downloaded my GMAT club error log into an Excel file, revisited every official question that I got wrong, and checked if I still made the same mistakes. If I made those mistakes even after practice, and if it was because I did not completely understand that concept, I re-read those concepts(eg. I found the verb-ing modifier to be not intuitive for me, I re-read that a few times till I got the hang of it)
Test Anxiety:
  1. I did not account for this in my first test, and I learned a very important lesson the hard way. Some people are naturally calm under pressure, I am not one of them. GMAT is an exam where the stakes are high, so naturally your nerves will also be at an all-time high. Look up tips to help with anxiety, and choose what works for you. I got a 700 in my last mock 5 days before the exam, it felt like there was no way out. Once again, I am truly grateful for the people in this sub, and my family and friends for helping me move past that very rough patch. In retrospect, I feel like I needed to face that 700 in the mock in order to get the score I got on the test day.
  2. Be kind to yourself, and don’t get discouraged if you feel like you are not performing to the best of your ability, or if you feel like you are taking too much time to get ready for the test. You might feel like everyone else around is making massive strides and you are progressing in baby steps, understand that no two journeys are the same. Give yourself credit for showing up and wanting to move forward even when things are not looking up.
  3. I had a positive attitude before the test to the extent that I was surprised at myself. I told myself that nothing would stop me from giving my best possible performance on the test day, in a way I faked it till I made it. Things did not go my way initially, I had a flat tire right before I left for the test, I did not understand the very first question, and I had to guess a few questions(luck played a part here), I was surprised how unfaced I was given the turn of events. Having a resilient mindset helps, believe in your practice. I made every effort to not think about the algorithm.
  4. Don’t let performance in your first section affect that of your next section. I made this mistake on my first attempt and consciously avoided making the mistake on the second attempt.
  5. Never lose control over the test - have a guessing strategy. If you feel you are running out of time, you will have to make some calculated sacrifices.
Miscellaneous things that worked for me:
  1. In my first attempt, I had some trouble using the scratch pad, I followed a timing strategy wherein I write some time markers on the bottom of the page. It might sound trivial to you, but I had trouble with flipping the pages the right way on my first attempt, I was that anxious. I got a scratch pad to practise before the second attempt. If you can’t get it in your region, or if you find it to be expensive, you can get a makeshift one made at a local stationery store. I laminated a bunch of A4 sheets and got them spiral bound, not the best way, but it did the job.
  2. Reading some success stories here and on GMAT Club motivated me.
  3. I took a week off from work before my test, I completely zoned into GMAT. If you can't do this, consider having a few days around the weekend.
Free resources:
Don’t be discouraged if you are on a bit of a money crunch, you can get a great score just by using free resources. I am happy to help more in this regard, feel free to DM.

  7. Watch out for promotions on GMAT club to get access to tests/forum quiz for a few days. Subscribing to the youtube channel gives you 1 week of access to the forum quiz.
  8. GMAT Club - search for any topic that you don’t understand, and look for expert replies on that topic, it will be more than enough to understand that concept.

“They kept that all the way under wraps, and I didn't know until maybe a day or two before the premiere,” he recently said Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2022) FULL𝓂𝑜𝓋𝒾𝑒 ONLINE

Of course, that's no reason to frown for the horror film, which has a domestic cume of $103 million and global cume of $ 210 million from a budget of just $20 million. asdfsdf

2023.06.07 11:11 Captain_Calamari_ 335i M Sport Touring 2015, 30k miles, £24k - thoughts?

I have always wanted a tourer and recently I've spent hours reading about 3 series options pre-2019.
I'm looking at Approved dealer stock for piece of mind/warranty, since I have no idea what I'm looking for in used cars.
Budget £25k. Two 10mile trips per wk, sometimes one longer trip at wkend. 300mile trip every two months. Wife, medium sized dog & first kid next yr. Car will be parked outside.
Currently checking out a 6 yclinder petrol as I've read they're fantastic to drive with good reliability as long as it's not the N20 engine.
•Is a March 2015 3 series tourer a B48 engine? •Around 30k miles for £24k - expensive? •What to look out for with low mileage over 8yrs? •Should I expect typical major repairs for this model? •New house won't have a garage, problem or not for bodywork durability? •Is there a better choice? (newer model, smaller engine e.g. 2017 318i £17k)
If your got this far, thank you for taking the time.

2023.06.07 11:11 dionysusinthewoods CIO baby not sleeping

Hey everyone. Just started sleep training, on night 1.
Little dude is 4.5 months old and a disastrous night time sleeper. He wakes every 2 hours, sometimes less, and takes a very long time to get down again after. We've tried all the drowsy but awake, encouraging him to fall asleep on his own etc. and it absolutely does not work.
He has 4, 1 hr long naps a day on average - sometimes one will be longer and another shorter type of thing.
Day usually starts at 7am, 1st nap at 830, second at 1115, third at 2, fourth at 5ish then bed around 8. Depending on his wake up time and what we do in the day his windows can be a little shorter, but he's pretty good to get down for naps with rocking.
Queue the sleep training.
So tonight his bed time was 730 (bed time routine completed), we put him down and he cried for 40 minutes and was fully asleep in an hour. He woke up once about an hour and a half in and cried a little bit for half a minute then went straight back to sleep until just past 1am. I went in and fed him at that point and put him back in the crib. He then cried for 2 hours straight, then laid in the crib for an hour awake. Towards the end of that he started showing hunger cues so I decided to feed him (he started crying right before I got up). By the time I went in he was smiling and giggled at me when I picked him up..I then fed him and he was very sleepy. I put him back in crib and he seemed like he was asleep then woke up ten minutes later and has been crying ever since.
He's pretty much been awake since just after 1am and it's 5am now...
Is there something I'm doing wrong or is this just the way it goes?
I don't even want to imagine how my day is going to be today trying to make him nap and then trying this again come evening....
Need advice 😪

2023.06.07 11:10 MrsLittletall My husband is recovering from septic shock - looking for experiences to soothe our anxieties

It started a few months ago. My husband (41M) told me (37F), that he had a stomach pain. I first thought he might start to develop a stomach flu and told him to observe it, and go to the doctor if he has further symptoms.
The next day after I came home from work, he had intense and extreme pain. I thought "Appendicitis" first and I drove him to the hospital for emergency care. After waiting for three hours and nobody telling me what happened, I drove home and called the hospital a few hours later because my husband didn't inform me either and wouldn't pick up his phone.
They told me he simply had an infection thanks to diverticles and it wasn't that grave, so I went to bed and started my day the next day. After work I tried to call the hospital, but nobody was there, they said they would call back. I ran an errand and when I checked my phone, I had a missed call from the hospital. I called back and got the info "Your husband had a heart attack." and he was brought to a clinic with a cardiology. I was really worried then, drove back home from my errand and tried to call the new hospital. They told me they informed my Father in law so I called him and what he said was devastating. My husband was basically dying and nobody knew what he had. They had one last chance, he could go to a highly specialized clinic.
He got brought to this clinic and wat followed was the worst fear I ever felt in my life. We finally got a diagnosis two days after he first complained about pains. Apparently the infected diverticle burst open and that led to him going into septic shock. The hospital saved my husband's life from the cusp of death, hand's down, it was extremely close.
Of course the story doesn't end there... after surgery my husband was still in critical condition, but at least he was getting gradually better. After three weeks, he was well enough to be put outside of the ICU, on a ward that is like... the in-between. I was positive that he would start to recover now.
I was wrong... he had a relapse. The suture from his surgery (it was a colon surgery) did leak and he basically had a second sepsis! I remember how much the doctors apologized to me that we now had to start again. But it was so much worse this time. The first sepsis was bad, alright, but my husband managed to get off dialsysis and ventilator easily. The second one? It was two months of horror. He had to get on the ventilator for ages and his heart made so much trouble they had no choice but to to put a pacemaker inside of him. At least the dialysis this time also was gone pretty soon, but the ventilator... it took a long time until it could be removed for good, easily six weeks (with the weaning phase).
Then they put him into a rehab clinic, but I am really not knowing what this clinic was doing. Nothing was really happening there but constant examinations and the idea to put him on a diet. Yes, my husband is fat, but who in their right mind puts a recovering patient with no muscles on a traditional diet?!
Anyway, after around six to seven weeks in this clinic, he came back to the first clinic because suddenly they found out that his gallbladder was toast. No, really, I asked the doctor about it and he explained it to me like that the "Gallbladder was pretty much destroyed during the sepsis and now it would get infected again and again and again." They had to remove it.
Normally a gallbladder can be removed easily with laparoscopy or what it is called, but thanks to my husband's history, they had to cut him open. That happened around the beginning of May. And then the stupid surgery wound got a little infected and he got onto the ICU for observation again, but at the moment, he is on a normal station and he probably goes into a neurological rehab on Friday.
Now, after all of this, I am not naive enough to think that my husband will come home and be like "before the sepsis". But after five months of hell, I kinda would like to soothe some of my anxieties. And his too.
So, my husband is currently having a colostomy bag still. He was on a catheter for a really long time, but they could remove it in the meantime.
He can not walk or stand up, but he can move his arms well enough to use an urine bottle, drink and eat on his own and use a smartphone or tablet, though I can see that he has still trouble with motorics. He is also greatly missing strength, for example, he can't open up a bottle that was not opened up by someone else, we normally have to help him and screw the bottles open for him once.
I asked him if he already can sit up and he said that it is possible with a little help, but he can't really pull himself up and get into a sitting position on his own, he can only put the bed into a higher position.
I really hope that the new rehab clinic he goes to can help him to find his way home, but after the negative experience with the first clinic, I am very anxious and my husband also shows some doubts. I would like to hear some of your experiences with recovery after a septic shock.
How long did it take until you could go home? What were post symptoms you are still struggling with? Did some of you manage a full recovery?
I am more than glad that my husband survived this illness. It could have been so much worse. But I know we have to deal with the aftermath of it and I would like to know what comes. Thank you very much.
