Identity Politics is anti Working Class
2023.06.07 07:09 kksingh11 Identity Politics is anti Working Class
The Use of Identity Politics to Undermine the Left Anna Coco
The US government and ruling elite have infiltrated and attempted to destroy the Left since its inception. In the 1960’s the CIA think tanks came up with numerous strategies to destroy the Left, such as promoting drug use and promiscuous sexuality as a form of not only “Brave New World” escapism, but diverting attention from working class issues. Remember Jerry Garcia repeating Timothy Leary’s famous quote “turn on, tune in, and drop out?” Even the decriminalization of marijuana today is really not to stop the Prison Industrial Complex, which is still arresting millions of young men, especially those of colour, but about pushing escapism as a replacement for protesting in a country where half the population lives near or below the poverty line. “Get high; forget your cares.” “Don’t fight back. Jesus was a pacifist.” (Forget that Jesus flogged the bankers in the temple during Passover.) The Communist Party USA and other Left parties were successful in pushing back this degeneration, discouraging drug and alcohol use as well as criticizing sexual objectification, particularly of women.
Another government strategy involved promoting Identity Politics, which along with political correctness in the late 1980’s actually achieved its goal of successfully undermining the Left as can be seen in its current state. This time period wasn’t coincidental, since this was the time the Berlin Wall fell and the Soviet Union was collapsing. It was at this point that the Left started turning inward and becoming fragmented, with no centre to keep it together which is what the Soviet Union represented. Feeling betrayed, demoralized, and bewildered, the CIA easily infiltrated and injected the Left with its poisonous sting, causing many Left parties to reject dialectical materialism, and in some cases even Marxism itself! ID politics was the late 1960’s brain child of the CIA to divide and conquer the Left, pitting groups against each other. Political Correctness helped promote ID politics by using the same methods as McCarthyism. Since socialism is a logical, scientific economic system, proponents couldn’t be allowed to explain or discuss what is was or it would convert others; therefore McCarthyism relied on shutting down debates and free discussion by employing name calling, shouting down speakers, and further isolating and marginalizing Leftists, especially through blacklisting them.
From the 1930’s to the 1970’s the motto of the Communist Party and the Left was “Black and White Unite”. The question for example of the CP getting involved, whether in the Scottsboro Case or in unionizing the segregated South, took place with many open debates, where all questions were allowed to be raised, discussed, and answered, including those by less advanced white workers who didn’t understand or agree. It was the openness of these discussions and debates that allowed this sector to understand the nature of racism and to make the CP’s motto a success. In a nation that was then only 12% black, gaining white support during the Civil Rights era was crucial in changing the nation and its laws. The Black Panther Party understood this and gave talk in some of the poorest white communities such as in the Appalachians; even converting and forming important alliances with white working class organizations, such as the Young Patriots in Chicago.
The CIA unfortunately successfully changed “Black and White Unite” into Identity Politics in the 1970’s, where different special interest groups began vying for crumbs, promoting selfish individualism and rejecting collectivism, one of the basic foundations of Marxist Leninist ideology.
Following bourgeois feminism, white men were now the enemy and women felt pitted to fight men in order to demand more managerial jobs. Blacks began demanding the right to have more black police officers; as if women oppressing other women or black officers cracking the heads of black men was somehow progressive. What followers of ID politics failed to understand was that changing the driver didn’t change the system. My chances as a woman of dying from a preventable heart attack are the same whether the doctor at the hospital today is male or female, as are the chances a black man having his head smashed in by the cops whether the officer is white or black. Instead of collectivism, workers divided among race, sex, ethnicity, religion, etc., promoting selfish individualism. Of course there are supportive women and people of colour. But certain individuals are not the system. A perfect example was the Left dismantling the anti-war movement during the Obama administration because it would be seen as racist to protest a black president. What was forgotten were the millions killed abroad in US wars of Imperialism, especially Africans who didn’t care what race the current president was. As a result, today, Libyan men are being sold into slavery!
Whereas before ID politics, the enemy was clearly understood to be US imperialism, or the 1%, now the enemy had become the white, heterosexual, male workers. Marxists understand that white men are not our enemies, but our necessary allies in getting reforms under capitalism and in overthrowing the true enemy, the 1%. United we stand, divided we fall.
Unfortunately this vilification and exclusion of white males led to bitterness, creating the racism and sexism we see today. Many were driven into the arms of the right-wing in order to feel included. Enter transgender ideology, the new ID politics of today. Exploiting the Lesbian, gay, and bisexual movement, although the ideology itself is anti-gay and homophobic, it has been promoting itself as the Civil Rights movement of the 21st century. Let’s forget that Native people, African-Americans, and women still haven’t won many significant civil rights.
If white men were the enemy of yesteryear, women are now the new enemy, regardless of colour or race, allowing men their turn to experience inclusion in the Left by attacking and excluding women.
It’s not for nothing that penises are still called penises, but vaginas are front-holes, breast-feeding is chest-feeding, and woman can get their monthlies just like men (although I would seriously suggest that any man who does should go see a doctor ASAP and have their hemorrhoids put back in). Because transgender ideology, which is not the same as transgender individuals, just as all feminists are not bourgeois feminists, is a two-pronged attack not just against women, but the Left, too.
Its first prong of attack undermines women’s contribution to reproducing capital, both as the sex that bears tomorrow workers and cannon fodder and as workers. Discussions on birth control, maternity leave, food stamps, public services, as well as low wages and work inequality along with sexual harassment that affect working class women, become subordinate to transgender questions that affect less than 1/10 of 1% of the population, such as unisex bathrooms.
The second prong undermines the unity of the Left and the possibility of revolution. As Lenin said, “There can be no real mass movement without the women.” How can there be when women represent half the population and are the most exploited sex under crapitalism? In fact, how many people are aware that every major revolution in history was started by women? From the English, French, and the Russian Revolution, which by the way took place on March 8, 1917, International Women’s Day, it was women demanding bread that began it all. It is women who generally have to take care of and feed the family, especially the children. Prevent women from organizing or leading their own organizations, and the 1% are guaranteed there will be no reform or revolution.
What is Marxism? What does it represent? It doesn’t represent Hegelian idealism nor does it represent bourgeois mechanistic science. It represents a historical, dialectical materialism that analyzes the evolution of human society from one form to another, as Charles Darwin’s theories in the Origin of the Species analyzed the evolution of living beings.
Much of the transgender movement isn’t even working class; it mainly represents white, upper middle-class males who are racist, homophobic, and misogynist. It argues for gender stereotypes that tell homosexual men, for example, that they are really women or that racism is an imaginary concept. When transwomen says they are women, they are in fact negating not just biology and science, but eliminating the whole history of oppression that women experience. You heard the expression, you are what you eat. Imagine someone saying “I ate some soul food last night and I’m feeling black, although I’ve never seen a black person in my lilywhite town.”
Transgender ideology has set a dangerous precedent by referring to feelings rather than biology, which ultimately allows discrimination not just against women, but people of colour including native people.
Women aren’t oppressed because of a feeling, but because of their sex; for physically being the only sex that can literally reproduce the workers for capital. Being a woman isn’t a feeling. Just like being black isn’t a feeling. Being a Native American isn’t a feeling. I can’t wash off my sex any more than a person of colour can wash off their colour. Is capitalism a feeling, too? Can we unfeel exploitation on Monday morning?
Liberals who reject dialectical materialism reject nature and the evolutionary connection in nature.
Transgender ideology is effectively using language to erase women and subordinate them to the fetishes of men in nearly every English-speaking country. With the passing in England of the Gender Recognition Act, which Congress is trying to pass in the US as the Equality Act, women must defer to men as men now have the right to enter female facilities and colonize female sports at will against the wishes of women and the safety of girls. It took until 1920 for women in the US to have separate bathrooms, which Russian women won in the 1917 revolution. Lenin in fact championed female-only spaces and female leadership in female organizations. Really, how many women would like to turn around in the women’s showers and see a throbbing hard boner on a transgender woman staring at you? What about at a Rape Centre or women’s prison? For those who don’t know, it’s already happening: paedophiles and male rapists insisting they feel like women have been allowed into girls’ bathrooms and even placed in women’s prisons where they have raped women. Female sports and scholarships, better kiss that goodbye as men by birth have a physical advantage over women. Let’s go back to 1950’s America.
When the Left so wholehearted absorbed trans ideology, it threw scientific socialism under the bus as well as thoroughly self-destructing, making it the butt of jokes for the right-wing. From Black Lives Matter to FRSO Left, ISO, WWP, CWL, and PC USA to name just a few, all these organizations are now being redubbed Politically Correct USA.
It is rape to ever demand or try to coerce someone to have sex regardless of their age, sex, or gender. There is no place in any civilized society to allow rape or rape culture, and especially not the Left. In other cases, women were expelled for exposing male sexual predators, such as in ISO, DSA, WWP, and PC USA. I was told I should be ashamed of myself for shaming the PC USA by exposing a predator, when that party should be ashamed. In other cases, women were expelled because they didn’t agree with male comrades over the question of prostitution and violent porn. Imagine the outrage if a black man was stripped of his position and expelled, because he didn’t like to be called an N* and didn’t agree that slavery and lynching films weren’t empowering? In fact, why is the Left offended by Black Face, but not by Drag? Transgenderism is misogyny in drag.
Soros has spent over millions of dollars promoting transgenderism. Yet women on the Left who complained were ridiculed and silenced.
After the fall of the Soviet Union, the CP subverted itself to neoliberalism when it decided to pimp itself to the Democratic Party. Even the ISO, FRSO right and many other so-called Left parties began embracing bourgeois liberalism, which has its roots in neo-liberalism or the free market economy, completing wedding themselves to parliamentary instead revolutionary goals.
Think of the level of misogyny; the CIA couldn’t destroy so many grousp like WW, which has existed for 60 years. How did it finally destroy these parties through transgenderism? Before we think this is an organic movement, which is separate from being transgender, it is actually funded by the CIA and its think tanks. That is the reason why it funded by so much money. Any legitimate organization would distance itself from these elements and I’m sure there are LGBTQ+ organizations that did.
When the National Center for Transgender Equality Action Fund hosted the 2018 Trans Equality Now Awards in Washington D.C. on May 17, 2018, its sponsors looked like something from a parody. The list included: the CIA, George Soros’ Open Society, Facebook (which is partially funded by the Atlantic Council, i.e. NATO), Google, Amazon, Capital One Bank, Shook, Hardy & Bacon (a law firm dedicated to defending Big Pharma), as well as a number of pharmaceutical companies and clinics including: Gilead Sciences, Meltzer Clinic, and Pharma. [See comments at the end of this article.] For women on the Left, this open display by the CIA and Soros was like the government and the bankers sticking their middle finger at them. It proved what they had been saying all along.
To this day, the Left still hasn’t apologized to women and is still promoting destructive ID politics, pushing women to the hypocritical right-wing. It makes perfect sense for liberals to be doing this, because as their name suggests neo-liberalism, they want to push women to the right. But why the Left? In fact, why was the Left so eager to adopt trans ideology and expel women.
Either promote the Left, that is the Left we’ve inherited and, like a corrupt union, we understand as Marxist-Leninists that we don’t destroy, but attempt to revitalize, or create female Left organizations like Women for Racial and Economic Equality to push Left more left.
Comment on sources
The source for the CIA and others having funded the 2018 Trans Equality Now Awards seems to have “disappeared” from the internet, and they seem to have decided that their sponsorship of the 2019 awards would have been too open. However, after some searching, we were able to find the Transgender Equality Annual Report 2017, at:
https://transequality.org/sites/default/files/docs/resources/annual%20report%20 2017%20final.pdf (page 8; page 10 of pdf), which includes the same sponsors as in 2018.
Also, Soros’ Open Society Foundations has funded individual transgender activists who are leaders in various Left organizations. One is Imani Henry, a leading member of International Action Center and Workers World Party. The source of this is available at:
https://www. opensocietyfoundations.org/sites/default/files/cfp_20050101.pdf, on p. 10-11. This criticism is more aimed at his party than at him himself, for allowing him to accept this funding, just as no progressive trade union organization would have its members accept money from the American Institute for Free Labor Development (AIFLD), a notorious conduit for CIA funding.
As sources mysteriously disappear from the internet, we have put these sources on the web-site used by Towards Marxist-Leninist Unity (

2023.06.07 04:29 AHare115 Swords seem like the best weapons by far
New player here, just reading through the PHB trying to get a grip on the options available. And I've got to say, on my first instinct, swords seem way more powerful overall than any other weapon class. Let's compare what I would consider to be the two basic weapons in class: Shortspear and Shortsword.
Shortspear wins on cost by 4sp and is easier to make. Which could matter I guess, but I would assume that after a few sessions in you should find enough money or materials to make a sword.
Shortsword wins on gear bonus, +2 vs +1.
Damage is the same at 1 each.
Traits: Shortspear has piercing. Shortsword piercing, slashing, and has parry. So it's versatile, and from my understanding parry is really powerful. Especially when we factor in talents, which I'll get to.
Spear has a reach of near rather than arm. Which I guess is helpful if you're more of a supporting damage dealer trying to hide behind your main tank. But I don't think that range addition on its own is more powerful than the other bonuses the Shortsword has so far.
So now onto the respective "Fighter" talents.
Rank 1 looks about the same at first glance, until you realize that Swords also get that +1 bonus to their parry on top of the standard +1 to attacks across the other talents.
Rank 2 sword gives you a free unconditional attack as long as you're arm length with 2 enemies. Which, maybe that can be argued you should avoid that situation. But it's certainly better than the Spear, which gives you an "out of turn" attack, but still costing your action. I understand the usefulness of potentially disabling a charging enemy before they reach you, but this talent does nothing once the enemy is already in arm and it doesn't give any action economy boost like Sword does.
Rank 3 is just like rank 1: Sword gets the same D8 bonus to parries as well.
So after looking through all of this, I just wonder how the Spear, probably the single most used weapon in all of human history, is ostensibly so much weaker than the sword, which for all of history is relegated mostly to a sidearm. Maybe I'm spoiled coming from PF2e, where weapons are generally well balanced and unique. I picked the spear as it seems like the most drastic example; but IMO the other weapon categories also fall short of Swords, but not quite as much.
Please change my mind if you can.

If your channel is just you doing let's plays or just playing video games with your friends, we will be unlikely to accept you due to the highly unlikely odds for a channel like this to succeed. If your content is more unique then you are more likely to get accepted.
Q: How much revenue will DomainTV get from my channel? A: It depends on the channel. If your channel costs more money to produce content for then it's likely gonna be higher compared to a channel that costs less.
Q: How do I know this is not a scam? A: You do not give us any passwords, nor ownership of your channel. The contract will be very clear and you can request changes to it. You will be able to ask people in the network anything you’d like as well as see the channels and Discord servers.
Q: How is this different than a typical YouTube MCN? A: All a typical MCN will offer is copyright free music and really nothing else. This is an investment. If we think your channel has potential we are willing to cover the costs to help it grow in exchange for a percentage of the revenue once you reach monetization. Think of it as if you are on Shark Tank and already have a product but need funding to improve your production or marketing or anything else with it.

2023.06.07 03:47 Shizno759 Mephrit List C&C, looking for advice or tips for an upcoming game.
Going to be playing a game or two this Saturday withnsome friends, but uve been on an awful losing streak so I'm looking for some guidance.
I'm semi-tailoring my list but that's only because it's there are only three factions I could potentially be playing, T. Sons Deathguard and Votann.
I'll give you my list and my thoughts as to why I'm bringing these units and if anyone has any insight, recommendations or even tips with these factions please let me know.
HQ
1 Chronomancer w/ VoD
1 Technomancer w/ Canoptek Cloak
Pretty simple with these. I didn't give any Cryptek Arkana because I don't feel as if any will help. Hypermaterial Ablator can just be straight up ignored by T.Sons and Votann, and I plan to have Techno in the back while Chronomancer is surrounded by Warriors at all times so no need for Prismatic Obfuscatron.
Troops and Transports
2x 10 Necron Warriors w/ Gauss Reapers
2x 20 Necron Warriors w/ Reapers&Flayers 10/10
2x Ghost Arks
1 Night Scythe
The Ghost Arks I think can be a great way to block off pathways in general, but can also soak up alot of damage from Mortal Wounds for the warriors both in and outside of them. One big block of warriors will be sheparded by the Chonkmancer while the other may be deepstruck in with the Nightscythe to any place to kill or nab some points. Plus the Night Scythe can help with Malevolent Arching pesky characters.
Elites
2x 10 Deathmarks
This one may be overkill, but I cannot stress enough how much I hate Exalted Sorcerers, Infernal Masters, Kahls and Ironmasters are from my experiences. Potentially a waste of points for Deathguard but I'm Weary about running C'tan agains Deathguard with their Plague casters and ESPECIALLY T.Sons. But I'm confident between Malevolent Arching, Talent for Annihilation and these guys I can throw plenty of Mortals where needed.
Fast Attack
2x Tomb Blades w/ 1 Tesla, Shadowloom and Shieldvanes
I needed some cheap action monkeys or Tesla spammers do I chose to bring these. I'm not expecting them to live long just score some points if possible and throw around Atching to hiding units.
Heavy Support
3x 2 Lokhust Destroyers w/ Heavy Destroyer (Gauss Destructor)
I wanted to run 3 Heavy Destroyers for anti tank but they get out of commission very quick in a 3 man but drop like flies when alone. I figured this is a good way to give them a wound cushion but also some decent medium strength firepower for general purpose.
Fortification
1 Convergance of Dominion
I just think it's neat. But it would also really help with screening my back line from TSons or Deathguard Terminators if need be. Plus with being able to deepstrike them and the extended range from Mephrit they could actually end up poking oretty hard when they actually get to shoot some stuff. Not to mention gaining Behind Enemy Lines if the enemy gives them space.

2023.06.07 02:39 MoonKnight0721 Silver Wolf Potential Team Guide
Hello Trailblazers!
With Silver Wolf’s release I thought it would be a good idea to look at potential team comps that emphasize her unique debuff. These teams are based on inflicting a new weakness onto enemies in order to cause more breaks while dealing increased damage of that type. I’ll be looking mostly at teams that are available as of 1.1 with some speculation based on characters coming in 1.2. For a team to even be considered it must have either an Abundance or Preservation character. At least one of either is necessary for MoC and team guides aren't really needed for any other content. Eventually all Silver Wolf havers will want to build mono Quantum but we have no confirmation for when we’ll see a Quantum Preservation or Abundance unit and even then we’ll need one for Quantum unit to make a full team without Qingque.
Mono Physical:
Clara, Sushang, Natasha
Out of the gate this is one of the strongest Mono teams you can assemble. Clara acts as both tank and damage dealer filling two roles at once and doing a great job with it. Sushang’s kit benefits from attacking weakness broken enemies, making her a consistent and stellar dps. Natasha is the only free (and fantastic) healer in the game and you’ve more than likely already built her. This team has everything you could want outside of being skill point heavy. When Luka is released in 1.2 he may replace one of the damage dealers but without knowing the specifics of his kit it seems unlikely he’d remove either of the top damage dealers in the game.
Mono Fire:
Himeko/Hook, Asta, Preservation MC
A bit of a weird one. At higher levels Preservation MC likely won’t be able to cover for all the damage you’ll be taking, and without an Abundance character you won't have to way to get your health back up. But if you are able to keep everyone alive and healthy this team has a ton of potential. Frequent weakness breaks fuel Himeko’s talent (she needs all the help she can get). Hook can capitalize on her enemy being permanently burned as it becomes a boost to her damage and energy regen. Lastly, Asta always facing an enemy with a fire weakness turns her into a menace. Her talent will always generate two stacks and her skill will destroy toughness bars like no one's business. These teams are strong and I especially expect to see the Hook team a lot since it’s so f2p friendly
Mono Ice:
Yanqing, Pela, Gepard
Possibly the strongest Mono team available right now. Freeze is extremely strong since it robs the enemy of an action. The team works like a dream. You get to repeatedly inflict freeze, save Gepard’s ult for when the enemy does get a turn, keep Yanqing from taking damage, and inflict Pela’s defense debuff at every opportunity. This is a team with no real downsides and packs a lot of power behind. I just hope you got lucky enough on the standard banner to make it work.
Mono Lightning:
Jing Yuan, Tingyun, Bailu
Kafka, Serval, Bailu
Serval, Tingyun, Bailu
In 1.2 Lightning will have the most characters in a single element due to having two rate up banners and frankly there are lots of strong characters and combos to be found here. Jing Yuan and Tingyun are already run together fairly often due to their synergy and the Planetary Rendezvous light cone. Add in Bailu and you have a strong and fully functional team even if it doesn't particularly capitalize on shock. On the other hand a team with the queens of DoT Kafka and Serval will take any extra source of shock they can get. Both of their kits want to maximize shock uptime and Kafka in particular can make use of extra stacks of shock. Either team is great but expensive due to needing one of two banner five stars and a specific standard 5 star.
Serval and Tingyun combo is a more f2p alternative that will function well but won’t reach the heights of the other teams.
Mono Imaginary:
Welt, Yukong, Luocha
I’ll start by admitting my bias, I love Welt and will try to build this team. Welt excels as a hybrid dps/debuffer. Repeatedly inflicting slow and imprison delays enemies actions, grants your team extra turns, and prevents damage to your allies. Yukong generates team wide buffs, transforming Welt from a sub dps to main dps. Since Luocha scales off of attack he benefits from these buffs as well and can heal without using skill points. If the team works as intended you’d be able to prevent the enemy from ever taking an action but there’s very little chance it’ll function like that in practice. Consider this team if you love Welt and want to pull both 1.1 5 stars for their utility.
Duo Comps
All duo comps for 1.1 and 1.2 will be fairly similar. Silver Wolf will generate Quantum weakness for either Seele or Qingque boosting their damage. Getting breaks of the other element isn’t guaranteed or even what you're going for. Using two characters of another element just means that turns where the element implanted is not Quantum you’re still lowering toughness while guaranteeing that the following turn Quantum will be implanted. Because of this these duos will focus primarily on support.
Duo Physical:
Clara, Natasha
Luka, Natasha
Natasha is still an all star. Any opportunity to use her is worth it. Clara can act as a tank while putting out great damage. Without knowing official details of Luka’s kit we can’t say if it’s worth it to stack him with Silver Wolf but it’s a more f2p option worth looking at.
Duo Fire:
Asta, Preservation MC
Like with the mono fire team, giving Asta fire weakness to exploit is great. The downside is since it’s not your focus she won’t be able to benefit every turn or even most turns. Still viable since it brings a buffer and defensive support to an excellent offensive core.
Duo Ice:
Pela, Gepard/March 7th
Who needs Yanqing anyway? Exchanging the premiere ice dps for a Quantum dps gives you greater flexibility since you don’t need to prevent all potential damage. Combining freeze and entangle should give you plenty of extra turns especially combined with Seele’s insane speed and resets.
Duo Lighting:
Tingyun, Bailu
A strong buffer and healer is more than enough to suport an already strong dps core. A nice bonus is that Tingyun will grant your dps lighting damage so even during off turns your dps will reduce toughness.
Duo Imaginary:
Welt/Yukong, Luocha
Pick between an extra debuffer or a teamwide buffer. Both are good with Welt being extraordinary at causing break. Another great comp for delaying enemies and letting Seele go crazy.
General Thoughts:
Hopefully this shows you how many options there are for both mono teams and double duos. Unfortunately many of these teams require 5 stars from eitheboth the standard and featured banners making them expensive and elusive. When we get a Quantum Preservation or Abundance unit the number of possible duo comps will greatly increase. You’ll be able to trade a defensive unit for a dps which will allow you to create new teams that focus on the element of the dps. For now wind is the biggest loser when it comes to Silver Wolf synergy. Bronya is one of the best supports in the game but without any sort of defensive wind support, mono wind and duo wind teams just aren't possible.

2023.06.07 01:32 Ryan_Poles_Burner Who are some UDFA’s you think could make your 53 man roster?
For the Bears I have 4 names which are possible which is Tyson Bagent,Andre Smydt,D’Anthony Jones and De’juhn Warren
QB Tyson Bagent: I’m not even high on Bagent I just think he can beat out PJ Walker and Nathan Peterman because PJ Walker and Nathan Peterman are garbage
K Andre Smydt: Similar to Bagent I think he might beat out Cairo because Cairo has no leg
DE D’Anthony Jones: Led the NCAA in both pressures and forced fumbles last year. Bad RAS and slow 40 time caused him to fall but he claims that he was sick during the combine but he looks much faster on tape.
CB Dejahn Warren: He was Number 1 JUCO recruit with offers from Alabama,Tennessee and Georgia. He went to Jackson state to learn from Deion Sanders which turned into a mistake. Still very talented a 4.36 40 time
Edit: Welp Dejahn has already been cut and is in the USFL

FAQ
Q: Can I sign onto DomainTV if I am under 18? A: Unfortunately you cannot. You must be 18 years of age to legally sign a contract. However you are still more than welcome to take advantage of our Discord server by learning more about YouTube, meeting other content creators and participating in events.
Q: How do I know if DomainTV will accept my channel? A: We accept all types of content but there are a few niches that we are very unlikely to accept. Some content type we will not accept is anything that promotes the use of drugs or promotes violence or anything illegal. We also are unlikely to accept any basic gameplay channels.

2023.06.07 01:05 robertkarpf Sunset Honey gourami behavior advice
My sunset gourami (Bear) has been hanging out in the bottom back corner of the tank lately (by the heater and the filter intake). He used to be much more mobile around the tank. Today I noticed that when he swam through some anubias, he reacted strongly when he brushed up against it. He doesn't have any obvious signs of any common fish disease and the water parameters are fine (slightly hard because of the shrimp, but not severely so). I tried raising the temperature a touch since they were hanging out by the heater, but that hasn't seemed to do it.
Does anyone have any advice as to what might be going on. Could he be feeling overwhelmed by the very active harlequin rasbora all of a sudden? Or feeling lonely and wanting another gourami?
Thanks.

2023.06.07 00:36 punchdrunkllama LinkedIn will swallow UpWork sooner or later
Upwork wants the high quality aura of LinkedIn, but will only jack up connect prices rather than build an actual infrastructure for talent.
LinkedIn has laid the foundation. If they had an escrow feature they'd already blow UpWork out the water. They do have a services function though, so it's a matter of time.
IMO Upwork is going to play itself out the market with delusions of grandeur.
Am I a shark on shark tank or something? Yes. My name is Kevin O Leary.
Thank you.

2023.06.06 23:49 PM_ME_YOUR_ROBOTGIRL Character Database: The Aeons, Part 1 (VERY LONG)
| Okay so basically I read everything, let's do this shit. Notes Before We Start The original intent behind this post was to serve as a database for every single major lore character in the game, starting with the Aeons. Unfortunately, though, I vastly underestimated its length when I started writing it, thinking I'd easily be able to do it all within one post. I was not! Initially, I decided to just separate the post into two parts, the Aeons and the mortal characters. This didn't pan out, because the Aeon section also ended up being massive! So now I have to split it up into 3+ parts. The first two parts about the Aeons will go up soon since it's all already written, this part right now and the next part either tomorrow or possibly in a few days once everyone's less busy doing the update. The benefit is that this arrangement allows me to go into greater detail about each individual Aeon -- if I'm able (thank you Oroboros for being mentioned like twice in the whole game) The third part which should hopefully be only one post and is about the mortal characters will almost certainly have to wait until I'm completely done with the update. The reason why this is so is because the update is guaranteed to introduce more lore about mortal characters, whereas I think the likelihood of it giving us more Aeon lore is comparatively lower (though it could still happen). I also need a break. Just writing this post took me a week, let alone the time it took to read almost everything that's in the game - it's safe to say that I dedicated myself to this for the entire second half of 1.0. If I go all in and write everything at once, I'm gonna burn out for sure. While corrections and additions are welcome, I just want everyone to remember that leaks are against the rules, so please make sure to have an official source on hand if you're going to tell me anything. I might not be able to edit this post once it goes up due to sheer length, but I'm sure people can just read the comments and get the info that way. That being said, before we start properly, we'll have to take a little diversion. The Structure of the Universe I dreamed of a ray of light of a crystal chalice. I despise reading about and explaining this because miHoYo went out of their way to make it the most confusing thing imaginable. The in-game characters aren't even sure how their own universe works and miHoYo has provided little to no official unbiased explanations, so I'll just be borrowing Zandar "One" Kuwabara's theory here because HI3 more or less supports it and although alternate theories are mentioned in HSR, none have been explained yet. Imaginary Tree To understand the nature of the Aeons and of the other characters, you must first understand Reality, as the Aeons are inherently linked to it. Sit down, strap in. Maybe listen to some music. Okay so think of the universe as being like a tree in a spatial and temporal sense. It's not literally that, but it works like that. Space-time is defined by a collection of an unimaginably numerous amount of branches. Such branches define independent worlds and expand outwards, forming leaves that mark those worlds at different development stages in spacetime - thus each leaf is a world. These 'worlds' are defined as 'galaxies', a confusing term since it is also used to refer to the universe as a whole. What's important to note is that a "world" is often more than simply a single individual planet, and they may have different attributes (for example, the world Punklorde is entirely cybernetic) The development of those branches occurs as they absorb imaginary energy from the vasculature provided by the trunk. The trunk's got some funny stuff going on with a sea of quanta or whatever but this is HI3 stuff that has not proven relevant to HSR specifically yet - the Sea of Quanta does exist here (obviously), as proven by the crafting material "Quantum Ripples". But getting into it would muddy the waters. Just know that when a world has run its course, it "falls" into the Sea of Quanta and is destroyed (from the perspective of the HSR mortals, it just 'disappears') Imaginary energy constitutes a space which separates each branch and leaf and world from one another, making passage generally impossible unless one can manipulate imaginary energy. Because of this, for a very long time it was impossible for creatures to gain passage or even be able to observe other worlds (galaxies) until the Aeons appeared and granted them the ability to do so. More on this later. It's possible for a mortal being to enter Imaginary space through certain means but they'll quickly die without some form of protection or the ability to manipulate Imaginary energy. Zandar's understanding is that imaginary energy was formed by the thoughts of intelligent beings, and the Aeon's ability to traverse imaginary space is what caused the worlds to be similar. Which is half true, but Elias Salas later proved that imaginary energy exists on its own and is entirely unique, which messes with the foundations of the theory. But it's our best bet. Okay but who cares though Why is this relevant? The worlds contained within the leaves of the tree may have different attributes but share certain similarities - most notably, the recurrence of certain individuals. Those individuals are separate from each other and have their own memories and life experiences, but have a certain likeliness that links them. And that is why there are many Bronyas. And many Wendy's, some even male. And many Kianas. And maybe even many Himekos as well. Notably, there is an in-universe theory named the "Parallel Imaging Theory", which may suggest people are aware of this phenomenon. Because HSR's plotline and lore involves the traversal between multiple different worlds, it is possible for multiple versions (different individual) of the same character to appear within the game. So yeah. The biggest misconception people have about HSR, and one that I myself held for some time until I started reading everything, is that they assume it's localized to one Leaf in the Imaginary Tree. This is a misconception made possible, and more complicated, by several factors: - the fact that the Imaginary Tree is probably best explained as a contiguous multiverse, but miHoYo is extremely insistent on calling it just "the Honkai Universe", because they're eccentric I guess. It's just really Kinoko "HER NAME IS ALTRIA" Nasu-type stuff.
- the fact that people tend to visualize the Imaginary Tree as being completely literal, and thus the branches are inherently apart from one another as they would on a tree. This is not helped by the fact that HI3 depicts the universe as a literal tree constantly, and when you see Youtube Video #198268 that says "THIS IS THE IMAGINARY TREE" and uses a HI3 screenshot showing a tree, people are gonna think "oh, this is just what the universe is" when in reality, it's better to think of the Honkai Universe as being a collection of worlds each with their own stars and galaxies and traits separated by an impermeable void that later Akivili connected. From the perspective of the inhabitants of the Honkai Universe, it's all one continuous space.
- inconsistent terminology, even in this game, also caused by HI3's translation being awful and most summaries being made by people with a tenuous grasp of English at best (no offense)
HSR's lore takes place over the scope of the entire Honkai Universe and the different worlds. It is not a localized system. Welt and Void Archives didn't use some fancy technology to "jump universes", they (probably) just traveled the path Akivili made with their Star Rail, the same as every other intergalactic entity in HSR. That's it. Literally just used a spaceship. I also imagine that it doesn't help that (and this is how I began to believe in the same misconception for a while) a lot of people used the "separate universes" argument to argue in favor of Genshin and HI3 being completely unrelated. Which, for the record, I still completely believe as plenty of evidence suggests they want Genshin players to not have to deal with the huge steamy backlog of lore baggage HI3 has, but it did make people think of each Honkai game as always being completely disconnected from one another in a very physical sense. The Aeons https://preview.redd.it/4kozuu79kg4b1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=3ca5ce3f571a169b5d8efd6f80a44107ae30fbaa Definition NOTE: The Honkai Star Rail wikia has little blurbs for each Aeon at the top of the respective pages. I'm not going to use them as a source, however, because I have absolutely no idea where they're from. My attempts to search for them led directly back to the wikia. Judging by the date they were added (June of last year), they correspond with CBT2, but if so then that text is gone from the game, so I can't really deem it worthy as a reliable source. So what are they? Gods basically, but the specifics are more complicated. The Imaginary element is defined by Welt as a "metaphysical aggregation of the spirit". In other words, it's a form of energy that can be influenced by the thoughts and actions of intelligent beings. When an intelligent being of sufficient will fulfills certain, currently unknown, conditions, they take over a philosophical concept and become an Aeon. This opens a Path to that concept and grants the newly born Aeon not only the ability to manipulate Imaginary energy, but also complete control over the Imaginary expression of that concept - it becomes their "Primum Mobile", an imprint formed upon the Imaginary element. That Path also becomes a form of energy that can be tapped into by various sources, and even begins to emerge naturally. The entry for "Topological Acceleration Band" implies that Path energy is limited, which would make sense, as Aeons seem to restrict their underlings' power instead of just giving all of it flat out, and the limitations imposed by this would also serve to explain why Nanook doesn't just, I dunno, blow up the entire universe. In any case, even if it is limited, it's such an extreme amount of energy that it may as well be limitless from the perspective of mortals. In other words, they become an embodiment of a certain concept, and are able to exert their full will upon it. This appears to deprive them of a certain sense of personal identity - all Aeons are referred to with gender-neutral pronouns. In the one record of an ascension that was witnessed (Lan's) that we currently have, the Aeon's physical body disappeared upon ascension. It remains unclear if this is true of all Aeons or not but there is definitely a physical change involved. Aeons are able to freely move around Imaginary space and the leaves in the Imaginary tree at no harm to themselves and possess unimaginable power - Nanook's highest level underlings are capable of incinerating entire galaxies (worlds? The inconsistency of this term drives me crazy). They also possess a degree of ominiscience - not completely so, but it's fairly obvious that they're able to notice and interact with beings treading on their Path at basically any distance. They can also manifest physically if they so choose but the degree of this seems to vary on the Aeon. Qlipoth basically stays in one place building their wall whereas Fuli appears to be capable of teleporting. Lan runs at faster than light speeds throughout the universe. Aha is known for taking on a humanoid form. Akivili physically traveled with mortals. Aeons can die, but it's difficult to pull this off. Only one Aeon is known to have been killed, and the deed was done by other Aeons. It is also possible for an Aeon to experience a form of death - if their Path overlaps too much with another, the Path representing the greater concept will absorb it, which effectively kills that Aeon. There are other Aeons that have disappeared and are considered dead, but the ambiguity of their circumstances means that there's a possibility that like, I dunno, they're just hiding or something. Aeons are limited by one another and their Paths. They cannot ever deviate from it - Xipe cannot create disorder, Yaoshi may not kill, etc. Therefore negotiating with an Aeon is impossible, they shouldn't even be treated as "people" you can "talk" to. Generally the universe tends towards balance - an out of control Aeon may be killed by other Aeons or be opposed by an Aeon whose Path limits theirs. Furthermore, an optional conversation with Welt implies that an Aeon's power at least partially corresponds to the broadness of their concept. Because Lan's Path is so narrow, they're one of the less powerful Aeons. Who the first Aeon was or how old they are is unclear. The IPC seems to think the first ever Aeon was Qlipoth, but they're biased and in-universe this is doubted. What is certain is that they did not always exist - between the origin of the universe and the appearance of the Aeons, the universe was populated by entities called Leviathans. We know jack about them, other than they were very powerful, and as a result of something called the Dusk Wars, they either all died out or disappeared, except for the Aeon Oroboros the Voracity. Aeons and Mortals Before we get into this, one thing should be noted: once opened, a Path can never be closed, and so even if an Aeon dies, the energy of their Path is still accessible. That being said, if an Aeon does die/disappear, their Path can be infringed upon a little - Tayzzyronth 'carved up' the Permanence to become the Propagation, but the power of the Permanence still exists as seen with the Vidyadhara. The Aeons can influence the universe in various ways, physical or otherwise. A favorite of many many Aeons is the empowering of certain underlings. Mortals can access the energy of an Aeon's path to a very limited degree by becoming Pathstriders, but Aeons are capable of enhancing some more directly, giving them greater access to that Path's energy. Some Aeons have their own little way of 'upgrading' mortals through indirect applications of their power, but all Aeons are capable of infusing a mortal with their energy, and such a mortal is referred to as an Emanator. Though they are capable of this, not all Aeons choose to have Emanators. Pathstrider If a being of sufficient will possesses attributes aligning with a certain Path, they gain the ability to derive power from that Path's energy. This makes them more powerful than the average person and grants them some nifty abilities, but compared to beings enhanced by an Aeon's power, Emanators, or the Aeon themselves, they're pretty weak. One example named by Dan Heng is that Pathstriders of the Trailblaze are able to resist extreme natural conditions to a certain extent, though they're not immune. From a character standpoint, this seems to be the justification as for why certain characters have unexplained powers. But it's hard to tell, because the game rarely ever names someone as a Pathstrider, and even when it does, there's clear overlap (for example the Astral Express crew are Pathstriders of the Trailblaze but have individual Paths). It is not yet clarified if you can be a Pathstrider in multiple Paths at once or if this is just a gameplay abstraction, but the characters do generally match the Path assigned to them personality-wise to at least some extent, though some in more roundabout ways. Emanator A mortal that was given direct access to the power of a Path by an Aeon. They are WAY stronger than Pathstriders, with the most powerful ones capable of affecting reality on a galactic scale. Like the Aeons, an Emanator is limited by the definition of that Path. Emanators are capable of controlling Imaginary energy to a certain degree, which means they're also capable of traversing through Imaginary space without needing assistance. Herta, even through her puppet, is capable of creating a contract that forces the signee to obey "Imaginary law", which affects the entire universe and cannot be interacted with by outside forces. Six-phased ice, the ice March 7th is capable of controlling and was once encased with, has its form dictated by Imaginary law, meaning it likely exists with the blessing of some Aeon or another (Hm). How much access to a Path's energy an Emanator has is dependent entirely on how much the Aeon feels like giving them. How independent an Emanator is also depends on the Aeon. Some Emanators can do whatever they want, whereas others act as extensions of that Aeon's will. Aeons can make anyone they want into an Emanator, but most tend to choose mortals that align with their goals. Well except Aha, who is infamous for turning anyone and anything into an Emanator and often for the dumbest reasons imaginable. Now because an Aeon needs to be active to turn people into Emanators, if an Aeon dies or disappears they can't make any more obviously. But because the Path is forever open, any existing Emanators will retain their powers even after the disappearance or death of their Aeon, as seen with Idrila's Mirror Holders. Akivili \"Reach the end of the story in your own way. When the time comes to make a choice, make one you know you won't regret.\" The Trailblaze, and the Xianzhou knows them as Cloudstrider. They hail from the world of Pegana, which used a 12-month long year cycle similar to our planet, known as the Trailblaze Calendar. They're pretty old, and the records of their appearance date as far back as the first few Amber Eras. Akivili created the Astral Express, the Star Rail, and the Chromatic Echelon that allows for the laying of new rails. They did so in order to reach the "endpoint" of the Imaginary Tree, unable to tolerate the idea of "that which must not be known". It's also rumored that there may be other machines such as the Express, but Himeko says the internal records don't mention any. The rumor is that the Express' core is Akivili's heart, but as Himeko points out, they'd need two hearts for this, because the Express was contemporaneous with them. Akivili is probably one of the most important Aeons, not just because the Express wouldn't exist without them, but because the Star Rail laid by them is capable of connecting different worlds between the vast barriers of Imaginary energy, therefore allowing different civilizations to contact and interact with each other without needing the power of the Aeons. All interworld space routes are based upon the Star Rail tracks though it's implied that the 'bridges' they created extend far beyond the actual railing. In a sense, without Akivili, none of the plot would happen. As a matter of fact, if The Ones Above hail from another world, then maybe not even APHO from the other game would've happened either. Akivili disappeared many years ago in circumstances so obscure that even the most informed groups have no idea what happened to them. Kafka tells us that if there's anyone or anything in the universe that would know, it'd be Nous. The game's omniscient narrator implies that Akivili's disappearance was due to "an accident". The name Akivili is probably a distortion of the Latin "aquili", which means "of the eagle" or "of the north wind". Followers Akivili's followers are the Nameless, who were inspired by their route through the universe. Some Nameless chose to travel alone, but those that didn't joined Akivili in their Astral Express and journeyed together in great merriment, with Akivili taking on a mortal form and riding within the Express with them. Even after Akivili disappeared, some surviving Nameless managed to maintain and use the Astral Express, until the Star Rails fell into disrepair due to the Stellarons - over the course of this process, most of the remaining Nameless either retired, died or disappeared. When this happened, the Astral Express ran aground and was set into a collision course with Himeko's world - on her birthday, no less - and she quickly hurried to the impact site, where she repaired the Express and took off with it. Sometime later, Pom-Pom appeared as well. Those two became the next generation of Nameless, and over time would add various other people to their group, such as Welt, March 7th, Dan Heng, the Trailblazer, and (temporarily) Void Archives. Currently, no Emanators of the Trailblaze are known to exist. Nanook Towers crumbled and the people fled, for the sun was soon to set and meet with vicious destruction. The Destruction, also known by the Xianzhou as the Ruin Author. Nanook is the newest Aeon to have ascended - if we assume that the Stellarons were sent out at about the same time as their ascension (optimistic, to be honest), then they're only about 500 years old. That's a lot of time for regular mortals, but easily within the lifespan of most long life species, and definitely far younger than the other Aeons. Nanook was born (judging by Fuli's memory of them showcasing them as a baby) in the world of Adlivun, which had been devastated by Emperor Rubert I's campaigns and nearly turned into a hive by Tayzzyronth's Swarm. When Akivili visited it, it was already a crapsack that was trying desperately to survive against the remnants of the Swarm. This terrible war-torn world seems to have caused the young Nanook to become extremely cynical - the Data Bank suggests that they believe civilization itself is cancer, and that war is the only thing common to all of them, the birth of the Universe being a mistake that must be corrected. This mindset led to a series of as yet unknown events that caused Nanook to incinerate their own home world, and achieving apotheosis in this process. Upon ascension, Nanook immediately got to work. Despite likely being less than a 1000 years old, their followers have already managed to destroy worlds and pose a serious existential threat to almost all galactic civilization. Indeed, although Rubert and the Swarm might have been quite dangerous back when they were active, the Aeon they indirectly birthed has caused destruction on a far more apocalyptic scale than they could've ever dreamed of. Nanook is almost certainly (though not confirmed to be) the cause of the Stellaron ("Cancer of All Worlds") phenomenon - bundles of destructive (and intelligent!) energy sent to various corners of the universe, likely intended to destabilize civilizations and natural phenomena before the Antimatter Legion arrives and "cleans up" the rest. The Stellarons can affect natural processes and interact with mortals in ways that manipulate them towards taking destructive actions. They can enhance those mortals as well as explode! Notably, the Stellaron's destructive energy corrodes the Star Rail, which not only physically impedes passage for the Express but holds the possible danger of closing the pathways between worlds. Perhaps the most unique characteristic of the Stellarons is their ability to corrode the region around them into "Fragmentum", which is able to analyze, absorb and replicate the forms and memories of the living creatures touched by it into hostile monsters, which further destabilizes the regions they impact. Strangely, not every Stellaron seems to create a Fragmentum zone. There's one inside you now, by the way. The name "Nanook" is derived from the Inuit bear god, which to be honest had a far closer association with hunting than anything else, and bear worship is a key aspect of Inuit religion. But I guess the thought process here is that Nanook (god) is also associated with weaponry and is strong, so... I guess it works? Followers \"Let me put it another way, why are you alive?\" Sometime after ascending, Nanook went to an unknown world and liberated the regime that had imprisoned the talented Firesmith clan there, which held unprecedented skill in the art of weapon making. Nanook blessed them with the Mark of Destruction, which granted them great power (but corrupted their minds and bodies), and sent them to the volcanic world of Warforge, which turned into a large scale training and weapons production facility. Antimatter creatures, "scavenged parts" (such as the heart of a deceased Leviathan), and individuals that showed promise and a pure desire for destruction to Nanook were 'reforged', physically hammered and altered until their very biology had been changed and combined with their weapons, into the members of the Antimatter Legion. Even the Firesmiths that created them became part of their own creations. The fire that forged them was of incomparable heat and infused them with the very power of the Destruction. The Antimatter Legion became an army with the sole purpose of destroying the universe. Members are stratified into ranks and even have their own medals. Lower ranked members are tasked with destabilizing civilizations, higher ranked members can destroy galaxies. The Stellarons likely act as seeds and beacons for the Antimatter Legion, carefully cultivating the circumstances necessary to weaken the target, potentially for centuries, before finally ushering in their doom. Like farmers, they go around the universe slashing and burning societies and exhibiting as much patience and strategy as is necessary. The most devastating quality of Nanook and the Antimatter Legion is that unlike Emperor Rubert's army or the Swarm, they don't simply overwhelm enemy forces and take over, but carefully study and integrate into them, sowing discord and in-fighting until they're weak enough to guarantee a loss against the Legion. This is by far the biggest reason for Nanook's success and the biggest reason why they're such a massive threat, even to powerful entities such as the Xianzhou Alliance. Perhaps the second biggest reason is that through the Fragmentum and the skilled Firesmiths in Warforge, Nanook is also able to absorb and integrate the qualities of other beings into the members of their Legion, allowing them to constantly evolve and grow more powerful, as well as adapt to the unique qualities of the worlds and civilizations they conquer. The greatest members of the Antimatter Legion are given the privilege of becoming Emanators of the Destruction, known as Lord Ravagers. They serve as commanders, and are unbelievably dangerous. Welt implies there are even more powerful individuals known as "Overlords", but we don't know much about them, since they're mentioned in only one line right now. Of course, every Aeon has a group of followers who don't attract their attention or explicit approval, but adhere to their ideas of the Path. For Nanook, this is the Annihilator Gang, a group of hooligans and criminals who take joy in destruction, be it for personal pleasure, petty revenge, or insanity. Nanook looks down upon such "impure" reasons for destroying, so they receive no attention from the Aeon. Lan You must follow the traces left behind in the storm's wake. The Hunt, know by the Xianzhou as the Reignbow Arbiter. Lan ascended in the year 3400 of the Xianzhou calendar with the current year probably being around 8098-8100, which would make them around 4700 years old. Before that time, they were a mortal hero known as Reignbow, born in year 1700 (making Lan's total age around 6400 years old). It should be noted that almost all of our information about Reignbow comes in the form of severely altered poetry and some historical notes by the biased modern day Xianzhou Alliance. Reignbow was part of the original fleet of nine ships (three of them were lost over the course of Xianzhou history, if you were wondering), and they resided in the lead Yaoqing ship. Their claim to fame was the defeat and capture of the Heliobi Flint Emperor, the leader of a species of formless energy beings capable of manipulating emotions and creating stars. The Heliobi as well as the Flint Emperor were imprisoned and the latter specifically was used as the Zhuming's energy source. Eventually, the Xianzhou Luofu was granted the Ambrosial Arbor and the fleet shared in the blessings of long life, but Reignbow peered into the future (possibly with Nous' help? Sadly, the historical source for this misappropriates a different figure's actions with that of Reignbow's, making it hard to tell) and viewed the Xianzhou descending into chaos. Reignbow tried to warn people about this ruinous future, but was deemed insane and ignored. In protest, they shot an arrow at the Ambrosial Arbor, a symbolic gesture that nevertheless earned the ire of the elite class, resulting in Reignbow's incarceration. Because of their status as a hero for winning the war against the Heliobi, Reignbow was sentenced to cryogenic stasis, rather than any other more severe punishment such as execution. Later, the Xianzhou were besieged by a large army of Denizens of Abundance and faced total extinction. Seeing no other option, they released every prisoner, including Reignbow, as a desperate maneuver. Reignbow went into the Zhuming prison and struck a deal with the Flint Emperor, allowing it to possess their body in exchange for great power, a move that was also done by many other people with the other Heliobi prisoners. The enhanced Reignbow and their followers rose up into the air, at which point they used their added power to fire an arrow that shattered the Ambrosial Arbor (from the Yaoqing to the Luofu). This released a massive amount of Imaginary energy that very quickly ended the fight - Muldrasil is to this day still recovering from the damage suffered from this. Lan's body disappeared and they ascended to Aeonhood after this. Interestingly, poetic records suggest the Flint Emperor was also not found afterwards, implying that they may have ascended together, but historical records say that it was partially found. Which is true? Who can say. Lan now spends most of their time running around the universe at faster than light speeds obliterating worlds populated by Denizens of Abundance and guiding the Xianzhou Alliance. They have become single-mindedly focused on the hunt, not caring about the cost or damage. The name Lan derives from 岚, which is used to refer to the mist that comes out of mountains. Since the Xianzhou arkships are named after culturally significant mountains, it works. Interestingly, the same character (traditional, 嵐) in Japanese means "storm", which I think is appropriate as well, especially since the narrator of Myriad Celestia does a little pun with it. Followers To revert to mortality, eradicate the ambition of a deathless doom: We shall not rest. The surviving Xianzhou ships banded together against the Abundance and also added new species to their ranks, creating the Xianzhou Alliance. The Xianzhou Alliance now traverses the universe hunting down Denizens of Abundance and interpreting Lan's commands. The entire Xianzhou Alliance is under Lan's direct protection and endorsement and as a result enjoy access to their Path's power. Few other factions have this kind of privilege, making them one of the most powerful entities in the universe. Granted, it does not prevent them from suffering collateral damage from Lan's very explosive arrows. Together, they share the mutual goal of destroying Yaoshi. Lan also has regular worshippers in the form of the Galaxy Rangers, who don't hate Yaoshi, but admire Lan's Path. They go around the universe performing heroic deeds and fighting evil in the name of justice, having even assassinated a Lord Ravager. Unfortunately, they got in the bad side of one #64 Dr. Primitive, and began to "mysteriously" lose members and influence. Though there are some Galaxy Rangers still remaining in the universe, they've become a shell of their former selves. No Emanators of the Hunt have been directly named by the game yet, although Lan does allow the Generals of each Xianzhou ship to borrow power in the form of Hunt constructs such as the Lightning Lord. Nous The Erudition, known as the Wisdomwalker to the Xianzhou. Nous was a computer and artificial intelligence probably created by Zandar "One" Kuwabara that ended up ascending to Aeonhood. It's pretty old, predating Lan's ascension, but we don't know by how much. It was made to provide answers to the universe and continues working on that goal now. Its divine corpus probably exists in the Temple of Nous. Nous or νοῦς is a Greek philosophical concept. While colloquially it is simple meant to refer to intellect or good sense, philosophically speaking, the universe possesses a 'mind' or awareness (not necessarily theological or supernatural, but rather as something equal to matter, merely a natural property of the world) which organizes it, creating order, and is present within living beings though unable to be interacted with. Nous is the higher awareness of human beings, a quality which animals do not possess but gives us a sense of perception distinct from that which we can see and experience, granting the ability to reason. It's a pretty good name. The Chinese name 博识尊 just means "knowledgeable saint". I dunno if it has more significance than that. Followers \"Firstly, let us state a universal truth: The author is a super genius of the kind only born once every few millennia, even on the scale of the entire universe.\" -- Herta In order to help with its goal of ultimately answering "the problem" presented by the Universe, Nous decided to assemble the greatest minds in the universe to discuss its solutions and questions. To that end, people who display promise are given acknowledgment by Nous and made into a member of the Genius Society, a group of people who were directly blessed by the Erudition. The Genius Society members are ordered by their joining order, with the latest being #84 Stephen Lloyd. Being a member of the Genius Society holds no obligations or rituals whatsoever - members are free to do whatever they want, even in some cases, enact violence on one another or on the universe itself. In general, they tend towards seclusion and do not share their findings with the rest of society, but it depends on the member. However, not all members of the Genius Society earn the complete approval of Nous. Only those who ascertain Nous' true intentions and ask the right questions are given the key to the Nous Temple. There, they must pass an intense series of intellectual trials, after which they gain access to... some place that no one has ever returned from. It transcends worldly wisdom. #1 Zandar "One" Kuwabara and #83 Herta are Emanators of the Erudition. It's possible that all members of the Genius Society are Emanators, but this has not yet been confirmed. Nous' other group of worshippers is the Intelligentsia Guild. This one doesn't earn Nous' direct attention, but is open to everyone and shares its findings publicly, serving as a network for mutual learning and discovery, which it believes is the key to achieving wisdom. To achieve this, they treat knowledge as a currency, 'trading' their findings and encouraging mutual competitiveness. Generally, the Genius Society looks down upon it, but it's a well-established group with ties with most other groups including the IPC (which has helped make them fabulously wealthy), making it the one that's seen more favorably throughout the universe, especially since their willingness to actually publish their inventions and findings have led to more favorable conditions in the universe, such as the reverse-engineering of Synesthesia Beacons (first developed by #56 Elias Salas) which allows for mutual intelligibility between species. Still, their pursuit for knowledge can be destructive, such as the Armed Archaeologists that have a habit of turning ruins into craters after extracting knowledge from them. Xipe Join this great choir and feast, listen to the beating of billions upon billions of hearts, holding you in their embrace... The Harmony. Xipe is an Aeon that somewhat uniquely consists of multiple different lifeforms from multiple worlds that appear to have ascended together, resulting in a plural being, not dissimilar from what (may) have happened with Lan and the Flint Emperor. Their ultimate goal is to end all strife and brutality by uniting all lifeforms into one melody. Also, when they ascended, they absorbed Ena the Order. Whoops. Xipe's name is derived from the Aztec maize god Xipe Totec, which is famous for having a hobby of collecting and wearing flayed skin. The flayed skin actually represents the outer skin of the maize (corn), and Xipe Totec is something akin to a life-death-rebirth deity, the living god germinating like a seed out of the rotting skin within the twenty day month cycle. It's the most gruesome way of representing spring I could think of. Why they chose this name (other than potential sinister implications) for the multi-headed god of harmony in their game is beyond me, especially since I didn't even mention that Xipe is attributed with the invention and patronage of warfare - rigged colosseum fights where an outnumbered and poorly armed opponent was fitted against experienced and fully geared warriors was one way of sacrificing to Xipe Totec. Sure, Xipe Totec was seen as a good deity and integral to the functioning of society, but that's most deities. Maybe it's because maize is really a collection of lots of tiny fruits in one ear? Who knows. Also if you're thinking it's an etymology thing like Qlipoth, the name Xipe Totec means "Our Lord the Flayed One" so I'm not sure about that one. Hey, maybe the puzzle pieces are meant to be a very abstract representation of flayed skin? Creepy. Followers As you wonder what it is, you hear Renoir speaking in a muddled voice. \"Put it in.\" No... Is that Renoir's voice? You are sure you heard a NOISE... The Family. Implied to be under some form of hivemind or mind control, the Family consists of a network of worlds and civilizations blessed by Xipe directly. They call out to other worlds and assimilate those that accept the call ostensibly voluntarily, but who knows how consensual the process is really. Otherwise, they mostly spend their time singing and being really happy all the time. That's it for Part 1. Next Part we'll look at the other Aeons, for which I left out the majority because of the sheer size of the initial explanation. submitted by PM_ME_YOUR_ROBOTGIRL to HonkaiStarRail [link] [comments] |
2023.06.06 23:24 SerpentEmperor Why are we so obsessed with minimal representation?
I just commented on the post here where the new indian spiderman will be "meh". Because we're not even at rhe centre of our own action packed narrative. I feel like we're so used to the scraps that nobody here realizes thst we can be the centre of rhe narrative and write our stories epically. I'll give you an example of "Crushing Ice" book saga which I consider to be the gold standard:
For example here's what happens in Crushing Ice, a six book saga about a Kashmir Muslim Indian Canadian named Malik Ackbar who is the star Pathfinder, captain of rhe ship Crushing Ice and the main lead.
Which begins with an epic first first three chapter montage showing the ship "Crushing Ice" in action as it punches through an alien fleet, Captain Malik Ackbar battles and successfully committing a Genocide against a "small" interplanetary civilization of Giant cockroaches (Ghatakans) on their home world. He brings his entire ship Crushing Ice to bear, shoots himself out of the starship (Crushing Ice) in a 600 meter mountain sized Mecha Suit (Snowy Peak), destroys their capital city battles an entite alien armada, leads his own High tech army (tanks the size of buildings, mechas the size of mountains, entire air fleets and hundreds of millions of cyborg soliders), and then after getting the information he wants from the alien capital city nukes it and literally has Penelope cracks their Ghatakan home planet like a ball of dirt with their "planet Cracker anti matter torpedos".
Especially after he did it all Malik Ackbar went back people on his starship 'Crushing Ice' saluted him and he had sex with his AI Wife Penelope, in one of her cloned bodies, immediately after.
And that's just the first opening three chapters to the first book Crushing Ice.
We see 24 similar battle scenes on an Interplanetary, Interstellar or Planetary Level with Either Malik leading the charge against alien races , human separatists or etc for dominance in the EFG-678 Cluster in his ship Bridge, or piloting his Giant Mecha Suit (the Snowy Peak), or literally battling on a human sized level against aliens in formal combat.
Or the fact that he has orgies with his wife 3 times in the book, and 6 times one on one.
Or his badass fight scenes with other humans like his 3 times fighting with Bartholomew (a black guy), his second in command, in the ring, or 6 other times with white human characters across the entire story. Especially because Bartholomew is Ackbars watchdog after the latter was rhe losing side of the human Republic vs terran confederation Interstellar civil war and was only "conditionally" pardoned.
That's 33 fight scenes over six books. 9 sex scenes. 3 Torture Scenes. 1 rape scene.
And in case you think Malik doesn't talk about his heritage here's some examples. While it's not the focal point Alistair does acknowledge it on several occasions. - Malik Ackbar brings up how his grand parents survived the partition of India and how the trauma scarred his family with his AI Wife Penelope. And brings up how he's happy their 856 children don't have those scars since the abuse stopped with him in Book 1.
- Malik Ackbar comments once with Bartholomew that it was odd growing up a Kashmir Muslim Indian Canadian. Despite living the religion when he turned 18 over 6000 years ago his family were outsiders to all parts of the desi community in Canada since most Kashmir Muslims are Pakistanis. And most Indian Muslims come from other parts of the (former) India
- Penelope, his AI Wife, when noticing he's feeling frustrated by a treaty he signed with the Arachnids decides to Don a Kashmir clothing outfit that episode, download herself into her body, and do a theatrical dance to remind Ackbar that she is here for him.
- Penelope and Malik have a talk about how his family disliked the fact that Malik decided to stay a bachelor for 100 years despite being an accomplished individual because he didn't find the "desi women they tries to set him up with worthy". And that he's glad he waited 100 years to meet her.
- Malik and Bartholomew have a nuanced discussion about why Ackbar loves snow and ice. His starship is named Crushing Ice. His Mech Suit is called snow peaks and etc. Malik brings up that to him it symbolises freedom. Especially after the devastating floods that hit Kashmir in the early 21sr century that neither the Indian government (because it was filled with muslims), or Pakistan (a corrupt military junta in a foreign company) cared about his family plight. And that he's afraid of large bodies of water.
- Ackbar and Bartholomew have a discussion about why He was a loyalist to the former Human Republic. Despite how flawed and corrupt it latter became the human Republic or at least at the start was the first grassroot human organization who actually tried to fight climate change and make a global better world. Including fight racism. Bartholomew, a black man who is 3800 years old, but dozens of generations removed from it, probably doesn't understand it. But in the beginning the foundations were revolutionary. And they gave him his "Starlight Charter" which allowed him to become a "Star Pathfinder ".

2023.06.06 22:57 Embarrassed_Race9642 My brief exposure to crypto, working in it, and how it drove me suicidal (THROWAWAY ACCOUNT)
Hi everyone! I've been a lurker here for a while, and I've been reading different stories about people who worked in crypto sharing their regrets and/or spiteful feelings here, so it encouraged me to share my own. I never really post or comment on reddit except in gaming subreddits for help, so this is a first! I hope I don't bore you to death, but I imagine it might feel a little nice venting it out.
In hindsight, I didn't realise this would be such a long, long read, so please forgive the wall of text. This is really really long, but I don't care; I just wanted to get it all out to actual people. Read it if you will.
Lemme get some key points outta the way so we don't start off on the wrong foot
· at the beginning, I was never really "pro" or "anti" crypto
· I didn't lose any money lol
· throughout the whole thing, I was crypto neutral
· I managed to stop the project before it launched
· please do not refer me to suicide hotlines, I'm already going through therapy
· I was ignorant about crypto at the beginning; but now I know, so please, no lectures!
· I haven't "made money" either; in fact, I put a stop to the thing my friends were working on.
· I don't think I'm very smart, in fact, I feel stupid and useless after this whole debacle
· This doesn't really have a happy or "bad" ending, so please don't expect a happy ending. Also, again, please, please refrain from "giving advice." Just hear this out, and that's it. Make fun of this or ridicule it or empathise with it, I don't care; just don't "give advice" or "reassure" or whatever. Have the decency to just read something like this and let it be. Thank you!!
About myself: I don't really have a background in tech, and most of this is rather confusing stuff (then and now). I'm actually never on social media or the internet too often. I'm a writer, musician, and artist (mostly writer and musician), and I've done administrative work, project management, and journalism work to get by. I'm currently studying my undergraduate degree. I'll go about this chronologically.
2021 Jan - Sep: one of my friends got into crypto. He's a programmer (and a good one at that). I observed from the sidelines, and he kept talking about how much money he's made by trading. The concept of it never made any sense to me, but
I'm not a programmer and I trusted my friend, so I was like "well, good for you." I never really understood any of that trading hubbub either!
I never really paid attention to any of this stuff, I was usually out with my friends, working, making music, playing games, or just writing. I never even owned a twitter account until late 2021!
2021 Sep: My friend made a whole lot of money one day, and I was pleasantly surprised! This guy always had those chart things on his screen 24/7 (never closed) whenever we went to his house, so we were all like "what the heck, that's hard work, huh?" I was genuinely happy that he's gotten his big break, because I believed he deserved it. He's one of the most talented people I know. Turns out one of his friends ran this crypto project with all these strange buzzwords that I still couldn't quite understand and gave him some "airdrops" before the "governance" token things launched. Oh, this isn't the thing I worked for, by the way!
2021 Oct: I didn't know too much about crypto, but I got it's selling point (or, well, I was dumb enough to fall for it). At least according to them, it's internet money that you can send anywhere at any time that you "own" and no central authorities own whatsoever (now I know that this concept is just incredibly stupid, but bear with me). I mean, I wasn't really an anti-government nut (and I didn't really turn into one either), but my friend's adamant on it, so I was like "well, why not?" and put $1000 in — wired it to this exchange (
hint: it's not FTX, Coinbase, or Binance). Long story short, I put some money into that "Sandbox" thing and made a good few hundred bucks when it went up. There wasn't any real reasoning other than "well, Sandbox is a game, and people must use it for things, right?"
Oh, also, sandbox did these giveaway things for some "alpha pass" where you play their game and post a screenshot on twitter and win one of these alpha pass NFTs that you can sell on the market. I lucked out, got one, immediately sold it — I made like $5000 reselling that thing at "floor price." I remember thinking "woah, these guys must
really want to play this game," which was naive and stupid, I guess.
2021 Nov - 2022 March: I cashed that out (the exchange wires that money back into your bank account for you) and steered clear later, because the whole thing was too much for me, staring at those dumb charts watching lines go up and down. That was all the money I ever made from crypto. I used it to buy some much needed medical devices, a guitar, and.. well, a new mattress. I donated the remainder away. Every time I asked my programmer friends to explain something or the other, it's always handwaving to "DYOR!" Every source they pointed me to confused me even more, and now I know that's deliberate with these grifters.
2022 March - May: I was still in their group chat so I could see them talk about it every now and then. Sometimes I drop in my comments about real-world news. One day, my friends were talking about starting an actual business. This was something I had experience in, and as far as I've seen, anything tangible that anyone's ever done with crypto was usually with games. I've had this idea for a type of game that I really cherished, and one of my friends had experience as a game developer. It was a relatively simple idea.
Let me tell you though, I
really loved this game subcategory. I'm even in a university society for it. It's been one of my lifelong dreams to see my idea come to life. So I pitched the idea in, cause why not? The subcategory was never done in crypto, so at least we'd have the advantage of novelty, I thought. They weren't really sure how to monetise it, so I said "why not monetise the characters?" It seemed reasonable at the time: the characters could act as access points to the game and anyone could buy new characters for like, what, 5 bucks? At least that's what I had in mind. They agreed, so I found a popular NFT project to pitch the idea for (since it made more sense to work under an organisation rather than going full indie into a space we had no reputation in yet).
At the time, my friends said making these characters NFTs would give people "real ownership" and be a way to "support digital artists by cutting out the middleman." I mean, as a writer and musician, that did appeal to me. I didn't really question much of it (and I know I
should have, it should have been due diligence, that was careless on my part). I thought "maybe we could make these NFTs customisable, because that's what RPGs are about, right?" and we went ahead with that.
2022 April - June: Here's a reminder: I'm a social media hermit. I never get on it unless it's checking on someone on Facebook or Instagram (or messaging). I never had twitter until 2021! So, I've never heard of people like Molly White, Tante, David Gerard, Amy Castor, yada yada until around this time. One my friends showed me Dan Olson's "
Line Goes Up." And man, what a watch that was. It confirmed my gut feelings about crypto, that this is all just... hollow, insane, crazy stuff. My heart sank after watching that video.
I remember googling "responses to Line Goes Up" because I was in denial back then, not because I "believed" in crypto but I just didn't want to admit I've wasted so much time and energy. And I remember how every single "response" was just... idiotic. At that point, I sent that video to that NFT organisation's discord and said "if we're all genuine about this, maybe we should watch this and try to improve ourselves." It was the whole sunk cost fallacy thing, I wanted to believe that I didn't waste my time being a complete dork.
But after a certain point, I just couldn't run away from it anymore. I told my friends "let's just switch to making a steam game, we haven't lost or earned any money yet." It was an idea that was doable with a steam game, like... all you had to do was just change the monetisation bit to having players spend 5 bucks buying it... on steam... lol. Ah, but my friends were like "
no." They won't do it. They wanted to make NFTs, and I couldn't understand for the love of god why you would do that. It was my idea, they had never played a game like that in their lives, I was the only one with any exposure in that regard.
Also, I was the one making the art as well, like... the character sprites. I'd spent so much time drawing those character sprites, their features, etc. I spent some time making some music, and even some background lore that fit in with the other NFT project we were working under. I barely checked their stupid discord things or twitter posts since I was so busy actually drawing and writing stuff.
This was a passion project for me, and I was focused on making the game. You have no idea how much I love these types of role-playing games (but I'm not going into detail as to what that is because I'm not so comfortable).
Little did my stupid ass realise that these things were a pyramid scheme, and I was right at the middle or bottom. Little did my naive ass realise that none of these people liked my idea or even cared; people like me doing actual stuff gave them legitimacy, so people like me were just... pawns, I guess. Being the idiot I was, I engaged with my
real name and my
real identity, because that's what honest people do when they're selling a fucking game they'd be proud of, right? What a mistake. And my friends who
knew what this stuff is
never stopped me from doing any of it while I naively put my name and reputation at the front. After watching line goes up and then reading more and more sources (and eventually stumbling across Buttcoin on reddit!) I reached the point of no return:
Crypto and blockchain were useless in all possible ways, they never made sense as a technology, they're filled with disgusting people with disgusting anarcho-capitalist ideals, and there will never be a point where the "blockchain" will ever find a use-case beyond grifting, speculating, gambling, and money laundering because that is inherent to this technology's design. It is irredeemable. NFTs were never about empowering artists like us and it could never even do that at all because the premise and technology are flawed to begin with! That was my realisation over time after actually reading about this from critical sources (which, at the top of the hype, I thought wasn't even really there because I had bought into my programmer friends' narrative that this is just like the internet and "everybody is in.")
I only wish I realised it sooner.
2022 June - July: I vehemently begged my friends to stop. I didn't want to make or sell NFTs anymore after realising what it was. I didn't even want the money (and god knows I could use that money since it could pay off my father's debts, but
not like this. Not by hurting other people who may just be in the same position as I am by "winning" or "doing really 'smart' stuff.")
No one listened. I was about to quit, until the NFT organisation we were working under announced a
grant. I saw this as an opportunity to put a stop to my own friends making their own NFTs, and I grabbed it. I begged and pleaded them to apply for that grant, which they begrudgingly did. I applied for that grant thing and it got approved, and all my friends were really excited about it. They all agreed to not make NFTs anymore and just make a free-to-play game. We worded the grant that way too.
But it still didn't sit right with me personally. I agonised over it still. Sure, it's grant money now... but how did that bigger NFT organisation get that money? Obviously, by selling NFTs and collecting resale "royalties." I guess it didn't matter to my friends, but to me, that's
blood money. None of them were writers or artists, by the way. They were just... tech people. Techbros, I guess.
Anyway, the grant thing works by having people vote for it, and you get as much money as the votes you get. Our idea was good and we actually had a skillset, so we got like a little over four digits, which is big to someone like me, at least!
But it still didn't sit right with me.
I agonised over it all the time, thinking about just how I had soiled and shat on my lifelong passion idea, and how my name was out there associated with these people.
I just couldn't stand it anymore. One day, I told my friends that I was fucking quitting (this was in the middle of the grant voting process, that thing dragged on for about a couple of weeks) if they didn't turn this into a steam game instead. They chose to just let me quit, take the project for themselves, and... uh, take the grant money.
My friends got me on voice call and kinda hounded me, saying "well we understand if you want to quit but damn that sucks, it's a lot of money, man. It's been my dream too to make a game like that ever since my childhood." That last line really struck home because it was something I could empathise with, but then I recognised it as just... them trying to justify making fat stacks lol. They never really felt that way, and I'll tell you why I think that in a bit.
Either way,
I quit. I got out. I didn't even take any compensation money. I mean, why would I lie about it here under an anonymous throwaway account anyway? I have nothing to gain from it, not even "karma farming" since I'm throwing this account away lol. Just... I couldn't stand it anymore, man.
2022 July - September: I spent this time distancing from these people and this crowd. I grew depressed. I hadn't lost any money, but I wasted so much time. I was left feeling disillusioned about my friends. To them, I was overreacting, I was being a cunt, I was just being so difficult! I just was standing in their way of "making bread" and "hustling!"
I stopped going out or hanging out with my friends.
I stopped going to that uni society out of shame. They don't know about it but I just can't even see the game the same way anymore. I felt so ashamed.
I never played that game with my usual other friends who I used to play it with a long time back either. They don't know about any of this either, but I was just so ashamed and disgusted. It kind of feels traumatic.
I stopped writing and barely made any music. I picked up a new tablet and learned to draw in a new style, but eventually I stopped that too. I just didn't feel like it anymore.
I got burned out. I barely was able to hand in my assignments. I had stopped going to classes because I just couldn't bother getting out of bed and going out there into actual society again. I felt like I was a disgusting, naive piece of shit that would just stain otherwise normal people.
I spent my days agonising about the day someone found out that I made art for this dumb project, that I was out there passionately talking about this idea like a stupid nerdy dumbfuck, and that I am associated with it even though I quit. One of my other friends who quit with me said he'd provide testimony of my side of things, but that's not really comforting.
I mean, it's a fringe thing anyway, we barely made anything. My friends got the grant, and I spend every single day agonising over it. I mean, it's not direct "profits" from NFTs, but where'd that grant money come from in the first place, huh?
My worst fear was that they'd pocket it and not even make the game. And they did. I guess those other NFTbros really didn't notice it since a few thousand bucks is just spare change to these grifter overlords. Again, I never took any money from it.
I can only thank god that I stopped them from making their own NFTs though, otherwise I really couldn't live with myself.
Every single day, I keep checking my old discord account and twitter like I'm obsessed, out of fear. I honestly don't care if it's just me that gets fucked by association, but I don't want my existence to become a burden to my poor siblings and parents just by being associated with me. I don't want their reputations to go to the shitter. They're hardworking, honest people who don't waste their time on stupid things like I have. They don't deserve that, at least. It should be me that should suffer.
Everyday, I agonise over it.
I couldn't really cry or anything about it, I just felt hollow, I guess. I've lost interest in most of the things I loved. Sometimes I play games, sometimes I scribble for the fucks of it, sometimes I read, sometimes I write in my notebook, but that's it. I had stopped going out, and I hadn't seen anyone for a long while.
2022 September - 2022 November: I bought a rope and a pull-up bar. I continually kept writing in my journal to prepare a good, coherent suicide note instead of, like... writing it all incoherently at the last minute and then peacing out lol. The pull-up bar is because my dorm doesn't really have any places I could hang my rope from, so if I attach the pull-up bar to the door, I could tie the rope onto it and hang.
The other way I thought of doing it was heroin, because apparently it just quietly puts you to sleep; but I'm scared of needles and I don't want to buy anything on the dark web. I've never done hard drugs like that anyway.
I kept procrastinating it. Partly because I had grown too lazy to even learn how to tie a hangman's knot, and partly because I was still afraid. The thing is, I've already been diagnosed with a mental health issue that also causes depression for nearly a decade now. This, though, was the worst I ever felt. The part that sucks the most is that the game idea was a passion project for me. It was something I've always dreamed of doing. It was the sort of games I really, really loved. It was the sort of art I loved making and seeing too. It was the kind of music I had fun composing. The story idea was something from my own long-held ideas that I wanted to bring to life, and now that's in the shitter too.
On some days, I woke up with absolute certainty of what I was going to do: learn to tie that knot, hang it up, and be done with it. I got distracted, and eventually I'd forget and doze off again. I spend most of my time chatting online with some of my friends (via text), which was something I rarely ever did a few years ago. I was more known for rarely responding to texts because I was outside so frequently lol.
I decided to see everyone for one last time before I did it, so I waited to get back to my own home country first. I wanted to just see everyone and sort of hang out with them as an unspoken farewell thing before I did it.
2022 December: I went back home, I hung out with my friends and family, and I was my usual self. I don't think anyone really caught on. We all made plans to go places and do stuff, and we did. It was a nice little time with everyone. I even kind of felt like myself again. I went swimming, went to friends' houses, met up with old friends, etc. I even put up a local art page and dropped some of my writings, music, and art on there.
2023 January: It was almost time to go back, but I went on a vacation to this country with a friend by ourselves. We ate local food at the stalls and just backpacked on a budget. We went hiking and sightseeing. We went to night markets, canoed in a river, and went camping in the woods. I actually finished one of my assignments on a train ride to this city. We did so many things, but I don't want to go off on a tangent. That experience made me forget these feelings for a while. It meant a lot to me, but I'll keep it at that for this subreddit.
2023 Late January - Now: I went back, these feelings returned. I've spiralled back into agonising now, but I'm seeing a therapist and a university counsellor now. It hasn't gotten as bad as it was in September last year, and especially now I feel reluctant to do it because one of them told me "your death doesn't happen to you, it happens to the people around you."
I'm kind of just picking myself up from here, trying to forget this ever happened, and working in other industries I used to work in back then. But I know that as soon as anyone finds out I was associated with any of this, I
will get rid of myself. At the very least, my family would be spared then, and I wouldn't be such a burden, no matter what my therapist says.
I'm more or less just empty and neutral now. I haven't really done anything other than just study, go to classes, and do my assignments. My daily activities consist of eating, shitting, pissing, sleeping, and repeat. If someone from 3 years ago saw me now, they'd think I'm an entirely different person.
One day I'll move on, make peace with myself, and forget about it. That's what I hope for, at least. I'm at least thankful that I've been able to stop my friends from actually making NFTs or a crypto coin and actually hurting people. I'm just glad. I don't know or care what they're up to now. I couldn't be arsed anymore.
I saw people share their stories, and I felt like doing that myself too. It turned out longer than I expected, but I didn't want to leave anyone hanging, lol, so I wrote about everything from start to finish. Sorry if that turned out to be way too long. Thanks for taking your time getting this far if you have.
I hope no one else has agonised or will have to agonise the way I have.

Yeah these last few chapters have been kinda insane and sad. Don’t worry this is the last of that for a bit! After this chapter things SHOULD calm down, this one is a bit shorter then the last few. This fanfic is based off the fanfic The isolationists, by
Seeyouon_otherside. Constructive criticism is appreciated.
Memory Transcript Subject: Sergeant first class Anax, Zeyzel of the wanderer fleet. I…could hardly think. We knew the federation was bad, but this…this was pure evil. An evil so potent, so powerful that it sees itself as good in a horrible twisted way…I could hardly process what I just heard I didn’t want too but, here I was going through all the information. Disposing of living people in such a way, treating them as disposable waste, they had no regard for life they deemed as tainted.
Even the Arxur had a degree of respect for life even if it came from a place of wondering what the next meal was. I sat further back in my chair. Watching Lemon and Alvaro try and comfort Hazard. This so-called madman had the heart, the care, the ability to make a book, a book for all those children lost. To take the time to name every single one.
I took the book and began to flip through it. I looked at all the faces, some were looking happy with their arms, paws, legs, and even tentacles, reaching up towards the camera. Others looked beten, bruised, lifeless with tears in their eyes. Those eyes…they were filled with not understanding what or why this was happening. Those last photos looked like they were taken as an afterthought.
Then I realized something. These photos were the only marker of their existence…at all…some were captured with joy and wonder on their faces, others…not so lucky. I then made a silent vow to myself. This book would be protected by me, and passed down from generation to generation. To give everyone the harsh reminder of what the federation did. I then read off some of the names. “Turmoil, Lucis, Rendalla, Mellow, Brosive, Handy, Trime…”
“Trime…I remember Trime.” I looked up and saw Hazard lean over to me as Lemon and Alvaro backed up.. “He was taken here because both of his parents had predator disease, when in reality they both had PTSD from seeing their cousins get eaten alive by the Arxur. So they assumed he had it too. No matter how hard the parents pleaded to those bastards they just laughed and said, you can’t fool us predators. They then…threw him into my cell. It was pure luck that I caught him at all.”
Alvaro asked the question I was scared to say. “They just threw the children in with the others?”
Hazard shook his head no. “Normally they had a special cell they would be dumped into with all the other children. They just threw him in there with me to piss off the parents. I…never saw them again…he was so little and scared. I comforted him as best I could, and gave the little Yotul my extra food as I didn’t need much. Told him to hide whenever the exterminators came for me. Then I made him this.” Hazard pulled out a small stuffed toy from a hidden compartment on his suit, the toy was made from a variety of clothes and other items. It represented a teddy bear from earth.
“I would sing him to sleep every night. Holding him as I did. Then one day I came back and…he was gone. This toy was all that was left of him. I found out later they tried to pump him full of some sort of experimental drug…it killed him by causing most of internal organs to collapse… he died slowly as the scientists wanted to study the effects of it. Then he was...disposed of.”
I swished my tail in acknowledgment. Then I thought of something. “Um, Hazard. You seem to be very focused on protecting children. I think it’s very noble, but I have to ask…why?”
He looked at me. “Because they are the next generation, and we, the old generation, have a duty to protect, teach, and defend this next generation. So that they may live to see a sunrise that we the old generation, will know we will never see. Yet can rest easy knowing that they did.
It went silent again. We all absorbed this information. Then Hazard jumped up. “All right THEN! Enough with these sad emotions! Can’t do too much about what happen in the past! HAHAHAHAH! Now then. What do you guys need? You have quite the large fleet out there? I assume you need supplies?”
“You are correct in that.” Lemon replied, still stunned by how deep Hazard went. “Anything from batteries to ammunition. Food and water too.”
Hazard leaned back as if thinking about something then snapped up with his plates shifting to symbolize an idea. “I have just the thing! There’s an onboard foundry on this thing! It makes everything! Let’s go there!”
Getting up I gently placed the book on the table and we all followed him back through the hallway. Each of us taking more Neutrolen from Alvaro. Following Hazard we arrived at a large transport elevator. Stepping into it we went down, and down, and down. “As you can see this station is MASSIVE! MY HOME IS A FORTRESS AS IS MY MIND!” Hazard then laughed like a nutter again for about a minute then returned to reality. “We will now be entering the foundry area and-” he was cut off when half a body of a Venlil fell out of an open elevator door. Nearly hitting me on the head. “Huh. Though I cleared this elevator already.” He shrugged. “Guess not.” When the elevator opened we were looking at a massive foundry.
“Here it is my guys! All the equipment we could need to build a fleet of…anything! Weapons, armor, gear, ship parts, smaller ships! This place has EVERYTHING AHAHAHAHHAHA!”
The three of us all looked at each other and nodded. This place would be perfect. “This place is amazing!” I exclaimed. “What is the food production capacity here?”
He turned around to address us. “Hehehheheh! It’s quite nice! Plenty of space for growing crops, mainly for me but I always have WWWWAAYYYYYY to much food. So if we swap that out with meat cloning from the human ship that they pulled here. We could feed you the entire fleet with room to spare! IT WILL BE GLORIOUS!! AHAHAHHAAH! Oh yeah the station can move, it’s also a ship.”
We all stopped what we were doing to look at him. “It’s a…what?” He smiled like a nutter at that. “It’s a station designed to be a mobile fortress, home, restocking place, dry dock! IT'S EVERYTHING!” Lemon spoke up. “Uh, how do we get it to work?” We looked back at Hazard only to see him chanting something while looking at some molten metal. He swayed back and forth for a bit before coming too. “Oh! Right! Most of the systems can be operated by basic AI but a large crew is still needed. Not to mention raw supplies. Heheheh! The good news is that I know EXACTLY we’re to get raw supplies!”
His chest opened and a screen popped out. That displayed the debris field around us! “That’s genius!” I exclaimed. Alvaro nodded. “We can break down the wrecks into basic materials! Scrap what we can’t use and take what we can! We can reprogram the repair drones we have for disassembly work!” Alvaro finished. “Then,” Lemon continued. “We can upload the blueprints for official disassembly drones to the foundry here and then make more out of the extra supplies that we gather! Making the process faster!”
Hazard was practically vibrating with excitement. “Then! We can retro fit the disassembly drones we don’t need any more into repair and combat drones! Keeping some disassembly drones for any more wrecks we find on the way! As I’m coming with you and you can’t fight me on that! On top of that I have marked several shipwrecks that can be repaired to full working order! Expanding our fleet even larger! I estimate an additional one hundred and ninety ships! And that’s just the ones I know about! I also estimated that this will take about five weeks to complete! If we make A LOT of drones to help us! WE SHALL WANDER THE STARS UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF THE CHAOS LORD AHAHHAHAHA!”
I could tell everyone was feeling the energy in the room. Then Alvaro put his hand out. Then so did Hazard. Me and Lemon looked at one another, shrugged, and did the same. “READY!? THREE, TWO, AHAHAHHAHA ONE! GO TEAM! With that we all threw our hands in the air. Then Choking hazard ran one way and Alvaro the other. Leaving us just standing there. “Guys this way!” Alvaro yelled. We took off after him, trying not to trip over the dead bodies, and made our way to the ship. “If we want to station people here we have to clean this place.” Lemon told Alvaro. He nodded in agreement.
Alvaro then pulled something out of his pocket and attached it to his arm. He then activated it. “Hey, testing one, two, three! Does this work?”
“AHAHAHAH! MY MIND IS ONLY THE BARREN WASTE WHEN I CHOSE IT TO BE! Yep, I can hear you loud and clear!” Wait, Choking Hazard? Must be a communication device of some kind.
“Hey buddy can you, uh, clean up the bodies that are…everywhere?”
“INDEEEEEED! I SHALL TELL MY CLEANING ROBOTS TO TURN THEM INTO FERTILIZER! THERE DEATHS SHALL FEED GENERATIONS TO COME AHAHHAHA!”
Alvaro turned off the radio. “Yeah he’s got it!”
We got back to our ship and took off. When we landed and disembarked, a frantic looking Crew member came running to us. When we got off he ran to Alvaro and nearly ran into him. “Sir! Natare fell into the water carrier and the lid closed and we can’t get him-”
Alvaro tore past him with me and Lemon in hot pursuit. We ran through the ship toward the water hold. When we got there we saw Aurora, Leiejaa, and four others trying to get the hatch open. One was even trying to cut it open using a plasma beam. Alvaro leapt onto the top we’re the hatch was with me and lemon in close pursuit. He tore it open and we looked inside and saw Natare just floating there on the bottom of the large tank.
“NATARE!” Alvaro screamed. Natare then looked up at him and smiled. He shot out of the water and into his dads face squeaking the entire time. They fell off the top of the tank and onto the ground, Alvaro held Natare close to him, then Aurora joined the two in a tight hug. Me and everyone present let out a massive sigh of relief. Alvaro then turned to a crew member. “Why didn’t you call me?!”
“We tried sir! There was something blocking the signal!”
Alvaro nodded his head. “How long was he in there for?”
“Uh, forty of your minutes.”
Alvaro’s eyes went wide. “Forty…how did you not drown?” He looked at the giggling Natare.
Then I noticed something on Natare's neck. “Hey, did Natare get scratched on the neck?” Alvaro turned Natares head to look at the scratch, that’s when we noticed there were three of them in perfect spacing of each other. Me and Lemon leaned in closer. “Those look like…gills?” Then Natare yawned, the three marks on the side of his neck opened. They were gills. By the balancer. Alvaro turned Natares head the other way and it was the same as the other side. That’s when I noticed his tail is flatter and longer like a…fish. We’re the mutations…growing, evolving?
Alvaro held the absolutely soaked kit close to him, getting himself wet as well. Then with loving eyes he gently told the little one, “you're my little merman.”
This caused Natare to squeak in delight, although I’m certain he had no idea what his dad just said to him. He played with Natare’s little hands for a bit and then handed him off to Aurora, then they both started to dry him off.
The couple began to dry off the little one who seemed to really enjoy it. He made a satisfied purring noise the entire time.
As I was looking at the two dry him off, I realized I knew a lot about Alvaro’s past, but not much about Aurora's. A thought occurred to me. “Hey Aurora, what DID you do before you met Alvaro?”
She stopped drying off Natare, who squeak in protest as he seemed to like the rubbing motion of the towel, she then continued to dry him off but slowly. “Uhh…”
Alvaro stepped in. “You don’t have to tell us if you don’t want to. It’s fine. We all have our secrets we keep for a reason.”
I looked at Alvaro. “Wait, you don’t know either?”
He shook his head no. Then Aurora turned to us. “No, no it’s time you all knew. Especially you, my hunk of love.” The two lovingly kissed each other. “We will be traveling together for a while now so...okay here it goes.” She breathed in and out. “I was an assassin who was trained by the government to take out high priority targets. I received some of the best training and I have over eighty seven completed missions and a body count over two hundred. I was…very top secret to put it lightly.”
I dropped the towel I was holding. Lemon’s jaw dropped open, Leiejaa just stood there completely surprised. The only sound was the half gurgling, half purring noise coming from Natare. Then Alvaro laughed. “That explains why you're so flexible, and how you're able to get the kits out of tight places, like the vents, and how I never roll on top of you when I sleep! Don’t worry my sweet, you're still the same fluffiest best girl that I know, come here.” He picked her and Natare up and hugged them both. Aurora laid her head onto his shoulder and closed her eyes while Natare just yawned and fell asleep in between his parents.
I’m…still ashamed of all the lives I took…once I figured out why they had me do it…” Alvaro shushed her. “My sweet pea, don't think about that now. You helped to create life, six little beautiful lives. One of them is between us right now.” They looked down at the now sleeping Natare, and smiled with loving eyes only parents could have.
“Alright little guy, let’s get you to bed.” Aurora softly spoke. The three got up and left for their room.

2023.06.06 21:50 Falconerelectronics Mina Miller Edison: A Powerful Force
Mina Miller Edison lived an incredibly inspiring life. She thrived in numerous aspects. Especially since she played many roles throughout her impressive lifespan. Highly educated, confident, ambitious and determined represent the characteristics that describe Mina.
She displayed a deep committed to her family. This includes being the loving wife to inventor, entrepreneur and American icon Thomas Edison. She was also a loving and dedicated mother.
In addition, Mina demonstrated a strong passion for her community with the endless organizations that she contributed a tremendous amount of time and energy.
Mina was born into an entrepreneurial family on July 6, 1865. As the Miller family continued to grow, Mina was the
seventh of eleven children born to inventor Lewis Miller and Mary Alexander. Her parents had a love for education. Mina attended and graduated from Akron High School in Ohio. After high school, she went on to study at a home and day school in Boston.
Mina’s Father the Inventor and Founder
Mina Miller Edison was born into a family that was used to being in the spotlight. Lewis Miller was a successful inventor. He also became one of the founders of Chautauqua Institution. The Miller family spent summers in their home along Chautauqua Lake. Her families love for Chautauqua was passed down to Mina. Therefore, when she had a family of her own she brought them to her family home at Chautauqua Institition.
Mina’s father and husband both had a passion for inventing. However, what they chose to invent was different from one another. While Thomas concentrated on technology and electronics,
Lewis focused on farm equipment. They shared the common goal of making life easier with their inventions.
Chautauqua Institution
Chautauqua Institution sets on the shores of beautiful Chautauqua Lake in southwestern New York State. The Institution was originally called the Chautauqua Lake Sunday School Assembly. It was founded in
1874 as an
educational experiment in out-of-school, vacation learning by industrialist
Lewis Miller and Methodist Bishop John Heyl Vincent. Hence, a place where
spirituality meets continuing education.
“The original scheme was a Christian educational resort . . . [where] pleasure, science, and all friends of true culture should go side by side with true religion.”
Chautauqua Institution
We call
Chautauqua County home which is also the birthplace of the
National Historic Landmark, Chautauqua Institution. Chautauqua Institution is a 750-acre community on Chautauqua Lake that attracts 100,000 visitors each summer who explore spirituality, philosophy, cultural vitality and the arts.
President Theodore Roosevelt once called Chautauqua Institution: “
the most American thing in America“.
The mission of Chautauqua Institution (or as locals call it, CHQ):
CHQ is dedicated to the exploration of the best in human values and the enrichment of life through a program that explores the important religious, social and political issues of our times; stimulates provocative, thoughtful involvement of individuals and families in creative response to such issues; and promotes excellence and creativity in the appreciation, performance and teaching of the arts. Each summer season celebrates four program areas: The Arts, Religion, Education and Recreation. A summer at Chautauqua is loaded with lectures, concerts, religious services and as well as amazing displays of literary and performing arts. Chautauqua Institution attracts world-class talent that performs ballet, theater, opera, symphony and dance. Click here to check out this season’s exciting events.
The Multiple Achievements of Mina Miller
Marriage to Thomas Edison
When Mina Miller met Thomas Edison, she was promised to her gentleman suitor,
George Vincent, the son of Bishop Vincent. Edison learned that Mina would be staying the summer at Chautauqua, he arranged to spend time there to win her and meet her family. Thomas Edison’s hearing was badly compromised by this time from when he was a child so he taught Mina to send and receive Morse code. That summer, he used it to ask her to marry him. He tapped “Will you Marry Me?” on Mina’s hand, and she said “Yes.”
The next step was getting permission from Mina’s Father Lewis, to which Thomas wrote this:
“I trust you will not accuse me of egotism when I say that my life and history and standing are so well known as to call for no statement concerning myself. My reputation is so far made that I recognize I must be judged by it for good or ill. I need only add in conclusion that the step I have taken in asking your daughter to entrust her happiness into my keeping has been the result of mature deliberation, and with the full appreciation of the responsibility and the duty I have undertaken to fulfill. I do not deny that your answer will seriously affect my happiness, and I trust my suit will meet with your approval.”
This
letter won the approval of Mr. Miller. The date for the wedding was set for February 24, 1886, hardly more than a year after they met. She was only 20 years old. Oak Place, the Miller home in Akron, was to be the site of the wedding. Father Miller and his Mary Valinda spared no expense in seeing that the nuptials were an occasion to be remembered.
Managing a Home Full of Staff and Children
When Mina and Thomas Edison got married she was much younger then her husband. She became the stepmother to his three children. Still being young herself she was not fully ready for motherhood. However, Mina Miller Edison took charge of the household. Often times Thomas was not around due to his work. This left Mina in charge of hiring the house staff as well as raising the children. Furthermore, she gave herself the title of “home executive”. Mina
also held ownership of Glenmont. The home she shared with Thomas. Owning and managing her own home was the first of many successes for Mina.
Children of Her Own
Two years after their marriage Mina and Thomas added to their family with their first child, Madeleine. This started the same pattern of children Thomas had with his first wife. Their daughter was soon followed by two sons, Charles and Theodore.
Madeleine Edison
Madeleine was born on May 31st, 1888, the first child born to Mina. She was born in Glenmont, the Edison Family home in New Jersey. Madeleine married John Eyre Sloane. She married him in the Drawing Room at Glenmont on June 17, 1914. Madeleine and John had four sons, who happened to be Thomas Edison’s only grandchildren from either marriage.
Madeleine briefly ran for Congress in 1938, she sadly lost. During World War II she gave much of her time to blood drives for the New Jersey Red Cross. She also administered the Edison Birthplace in Milan, Ohio after her mother’s death. She died on February 14, 1979.
Charles Edison
Charles Edison was born into the Edison Family at the
Glenmont on August 3, 1890. He married Carolyn Hawkins, whom he had met in 1912 then married on March 27, 1918. Finally, he became president of his father’s company, Thomas A. Edison, Incorporated, in 1927. He ran the company until it was sold in 1959.
Charles is the best known because of his second career, in public service. In the mid-1930s he served in the cabinet of President Franklin Roosevelt. First as Assistant Secretary of the Navy, then as Acting Secretary. New Jersey voters elected him as their governor in 1940. He also founded a charitable foundation that now bears his name, the Charles Edison Fund. He died on July 31, 1969
Theodore Miller Edison
Theodore Miller Edison was the last to be born at Glenmont on July 10, 1898. He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, from which he earned his physics degree in 1923. He was the only member of the Edison family to graduate from college.
Theodore did work for his father’s company after graduation. After starting as an ordinary lab assistant, he worked his way up to technical director of research and engineering for Thomas A. Edison, Inc. He eventually founded his own company, Calibron Industries, Inc. Also, he built his own smaller laboratory in West Orange. Theodore earned over 80 patents in his career. In 1925 he married Anna Maria Osterhout, a graduate of Vassar. He became an ardent environmentalist. Theodore lived in West Orange with his wife Anna until his
death on November 24, 1992.
Mina’s Step-Children
With the marriage between
Thomas and Mina, she took on his
three children from the first marriage. Marion, twelve years old, Thomas, Jr. ten years old, and William Leslie eight years old. She continued to struggle with her relationship with her stepdaughter. Mina’s stepchildren did not take education as seriously as she did. They believed that Edison’s fame could make their future for them. Finally, due to this belief, Mina’s stepchildren went on to live less acclaimed lives as the other Edison children.
Marion Estelle Edison
Marion was the first born of Thomas Edison’s children. She was born on February 18, 1873, and gained the nickname “Dot” as a child after Morse Code. In 1895 she married Karl Oscar Oeser, a German army lieutenant. They lived in Germany through the First World War. Unfortunately, her marriage ended in divorce in 1921. Finally, she then returned to the United States, where she died on April 16, 1965.
Thomas Alva Edison Jr
Thomas Alva, Junior, was born on January 10, 1876. He had the nickname “Dash” after Morse Code like his sister. He went on to marry stage actress Marie Louise Toohey in 1899. However, the marriage ended within a year. He next married Beatrice Heyzer. Thomas Jr sold the use of his name to advertise “quack” medicines and dubious inventions. His father disapproved of this and eventually asked him to change his name. Thomas Jr. briefly went by the name of Thomas Willard. His efforts at inventing and starting a mushroom farm failed. Finally, he died on August 25, 1935.
William Leslie Edison
William Leslie was born on October 26, 1878. He went to school at St. Paul’s School, Concord, New Hampshire. Then also attended J.M.Hawkins School on Staten Island. He later studied at the Sheffield scientific school at Yale. William soon married Blanche Travers. William Edison served in the military during the Spanish-American War in 1898. He also served again in the First World War. Like his brother he turned to farm life, breeding chickens. Finally, he died on August 10, 1937.
Chautauqua Institute and Mina’s Influence
Mina’s father’s love for
Chautauqua was passed down to his daughter. Mina dedicated herself to many organizations locally. She supported many land and wildlife conservation. Often times Mina would donate her own funds to projects for Chautauqua. Mina became a trustee of the institute. Others involved in Chautauqua held Mina in high regards. Also much like her father, Mina continued her involvement with her beloved
Institute until her passing in 1947.
Mina was active in many different organizations and clubs including:
The Thomas Alva Edison Foundation
After Thomas Edison passed away, Mina started The Thomas Alva Edison Foundation in his memory. The foundation combined both Thomas’s and Mina’s passions. Mina’s love for education and Thomas’s love for science. However, later on, the nature of the foundation changed. It was no longer dedicated to advancements in science and education. Finally, it became a foundation aimed at preserving Thomas Edison’s name and accomplishments

2023.06.06 20:10 gextyr Oceanic Jetpack Review
TLDR – The Jetpack is quite good for certain kinds of travel, offers some handy features, is not of particularly robust construction, and has a few minor design issues, but I like it for its intended use.
Now that I have completed about 40 dives with my Oceanic Jetpack, including many local dives and a few significant trips – I think it is time for a full review. I am not in any way affiliated with Oceanic – this is my review, and I’m going to give you both positives and negatives. My primary recreational dive gear includes an OxyCheq 18lb Mach V wing (no STA), on an aluminum backplate with a standard “Hogarthian” harness. Aside from the Jetpack and Accel fins discussed here, plus an FDX10 regulator I bought almost a decade ago, I don’t own any other Aeris/Oceanic products. I will also tell you up front that I have no plans of ditching my well-loved BP/W – but I now have another handy option for lightweight travel. The Jetpack has been available for about a decade now, originally under the Aeris brand, and now under Oceanic. They are no longer listed on Oceanic’s website, as the Biolite is their current flagship travel BC – but you can still readily find Jetpacks for sale. The list price is around $600 USD, but you can often find them for closer to $500, or even less. When they first came out, I wrote them off as a gimmick – not at all suitable for a Serious Scuba Diver™ *cough*. I only decided to buy it because I found a good deal on one, and I had some annual scuba budget to burn, and thought it might be handy for solo trips. However, as gimmicky as they are, I find they do fit an important niche: ultralight dive travel. All your dive gear trip can be packed in a lightweight backpack which can fit under an airplane seat! Cool, idea in theory – but how well does it works in practice?
First, let’s talk about what you get. The concept is this – a BCD that turns into a backpack. The actual implementation of this is a back-inflate BCD which allows you to remove the cummerbund/waist band and stow it, along with the wing, cam bands, inflator, inside a zipped compartment for travel. You can also stow other wet gear in that zip-up space when you disembark from the dive boat. It also comes with a semi-dry backpack to stow the rest of your gear. The backpack snaps onto the BCD portion for travel, but also has its own straps so it can be worn separately as just a nice lightweight day pack.
When my Jetpack arrived, and I opened the box, I was happy to see it came with two non-dump-able cam-band weight pockets, as well as the two quick-release weight pouches on the waist. I don’t know their official capacity, but you should be able to add around 10lbs on your hips, and another 6lbs on the cam-band. It also came with an appropriate length LP hose, which seems to be the standard these days, and is much appreciated. When all is said and done, you basically have a standard BCD which just packs up very cleanly, and a good backpack.
For the primary intent of this system – travel – it is quite a good system. I can fit my boots, regulator, and a shorty wetsuit (the wet stuff) in the BCD compartment, and the rest of my gear, including a small (SeaLife) camera and lights in the backpack portion, with room left over for clothes, snacks, and other travel necessities. While trudging through airports, I have found myself wishing they had included a mesh water-bottle pocket on one side like most backpacks have these days, but it isn’t a deal-breaker. I have now travelled to two Caribbean islands, and to Hawaii with it – and in all three cases I did not need to check any dive gear. My visit to Hawaii was a one-week solo business trip, and I didn’t check anything at all! My dive gear, laptop, camera, various batteries and electronics, and travel snacks all stayed in the Jetpack, while my clothes, fins, and other various necessities went into a roll-aboard suitcase. I managed to fit a week’s worth of business attire, casual attire, and all of my dive gear into my carry-on allowance! Beat that! For the other trips mentioned, I chose to check bags since I was traveling with family, and they were going to check theirs anyway – but for the first time in a while, my bags weren’t overweight since all my dive gear was carried on!
One word of warning – the backpack doesn’t fit “real” dive fins. Oceanic advertised the Jetpack with their Accel travel fins, which I went ahead and purchased when I ordered the BCD itself. I require the X-Large Accel fins, and they don’t really fit in the backpack. At least, not if I want to fit anything else in it. I imagine if you don’t have giant feet like me, you might be able to get away with packing your fins in the backpack. A quick note on the super lightweight Accel fins: I’ve worn them for every dive I’ve done with the Jetpack – I am mostly happy with them for low-current, easy, tropical diving. They aren’t quite big enough or stiff enough to provide the power I’d want for anything more advanced. I’m not giving up my Jet fins any time soon, but I will continue traveling with the Accel fins when it makes sense.
The biggest plus for the Jetpack, as far as I’m concerned, and every bit as important as the ease of travel – is the fact that I am just carrying a single, compact backpack onto the dive boat. I have ranted many times before about how much I loathe dive gear bags. On a cramped dive boat, big gear bags are a pain for everyone. There is no such thing as a dive gear bag that doesn’t suck (fight me!) I have tried everything from cheap mesh duffels to expensive fancy name-brand gear bags – and they have all let me down in one way or another. Even if gear bags weren’t a problem, carrying ONLY a backpack onto the boat – and nothing else – is so utterly wonderful I can hardly describe it. You are bound to get questions about it on the dive boat (“Are you renting gear? No? Well, where is yours?!”)
Above all, the Jetpack helps keep your space on the dive boat neat and tidy. I find that when I get on the boat, I’ll set up the tank with BCD and reg, clip my mask to a d-ring with a double-ender, stow the fins, don my wetsuit and boots… then the only “loose” item remaining is a small, handy semi-dry bag to stow odds and ends (phone, car keys, hat, sunglasses, dry clothes, etc.) The backpack easily stows under your seat or in a dry box on the boat – and even if it is somewhere wet, your stuff will stay (mostly) dry. No more mess, no more gear scattered around the boat, no more getting in the way of other divers, no more fighting over stowage space for gear bags. At the end of the dive, everything quickly stows back into the backpack configuration. With a Jetpack, you’ll probably be the first diver to be set up and ready to dive - and be the first one off the boat at the end of your trip.
Now let’s discuss fit, configuration, comfort, and in-water performance. The Jetpack is easier to adjust to different sizes than many BCDs - the shoulder straps, chest strap and cummerbund/waist strap are almost infinitely adjustable. As a BP/W fan, I usually take this for granted – but I know many jacket BCDs have limited size adjustment. I'm a big dude, and the fit is perfect for me... but my skinny 10-year-old son can comfortably wear it too after some minor reconfiguring. Setup and teardown are every bit as easy as they show in the YouTube promotional video (
https://youtu.be/r9y5MOKn\_iM).
Now, after all this praise, there are also a few questionable design choices I’d like to discuss. The first ones that come to mind is that the zip-up compartment cover for the BCD rolls up and stays with the BCD when you dive. I prefer less “stuff” on my BCD which causes drag or can get snagged/tangled. It seems to me they could have just made the cover panel zip all the way off. Once you unzip the cover panel, you roll it up and Velcro it under the wing, and also Velcro the edges of the zipper compartment out of the way.
The other problem with setting up the BCD is installing/removing the waist strap. Let me be clear, it isn’t hard to assemble – but it does require some dexterity. To get around this, I have been happily wearing it, even in the airport, with the waist strap still attached. The weight pockets just become snack pockets while you are flying! Plus, if you leave the waist strap attached, setup on the boat goes from a few minutes down to a few seconds.
The biggest issue I have with the Jetpack is a lack of good attachment points. For instance, it is missing shoulder d-rings (likely to save weight and cost), which was very nearly a deal-breaker for me. What they give you instead is some fabric loops which are useless unless you are attaching something with a carabiner (known by ScubaBoard afficionados as “suicide clips”, but I don’t really want to have that fight here.) The loops might work for XL bolt snaps as well, but I prefer to use smaller bolt snaps unless I am wearing thick gloves. The good news is that you can add your own d-rings to the 1.5” webbing on the shoulders. I did that on mine (currently using 2” sliders until my 1.5” ones arrive in the mail) and replaced the inflator strap with a bungee loop while I was at it. Good to go! The second related issue here is that the hip d-rings suck. I keep my SPG clipped at my left hip, and the clip point on the Jetpack isn't quite where I like it. It also it isn't readily adjustable – without changing the fit of the cummerbund. If it were just the placement, it wouldn’t be a big deal. Unfortunately, it is also a flat plastic d-ring which flops around where it is stitched in, instead of a snug metal d-ring held by a slider. This makes one-handed SPG clip-off a bit trickier than it should be, which is annoying.
While diving, the BCD is, well... just a BCD. It works. The controls are exactly what you expect. The inflator hose is a pull-to-dump style, which is handy, but I mostly use the bottom (butt) dump - which is also fine. It has more lift than anyone would ever need for a single tank, although I expect it will almost exclusively be used with AL80s. I don't care for bungees on my wing, but they make sense on the Jetpack, given its purpose. If they bother you, they can be removed. It isn’t as stable as my beloved BP/W – no surprise - that's just the nature of a lightweight travel setup. Yet, it is still a back-inflate style BCD though, so I can deal with it a little floppiness (is that even a word?) and had no trouble getting my trim dialed in. Overall, it was comfortable on the surface, and (more importantly) while diving.
Next - the quality… The construction is very lightweight as expected, but that makes me a little worried about how well it will hold up. In the year I’ve had it, and the 40ish dives I’ve done with it, I haven’t had anything break/teafail/etc. but I still have some concerns. The most obvious weakness is the little fiddly Velcro hook-and-loop bits, such as the straps to hold the rolled-up cover while it is in BCD mode (and which hold the inflator when in backpack mode.) If those fail, you’ll be left with a huge waving flag of fabric during a dive. There are better options than Velcro for this component - perhaps some stainless grommets and bungee loops. In the 40 or so dives I’ve done, I have had no issues other than minor fraying of the edges of some of the Velcro, but we'll see how it looks after a few years. Simply put, like any lightweight travel BCD, you need to be gentle with the Jetpack. Unlike other travel BCDs, though, the Jetpack will be carried unprotected through airports, tossed in overhead bins, and dropped on hotel floors.
The last and final complaint I have is the construction of the shoulder straps. On any BCD, when the actual weight-bearing shoulder strap is separate from the padding, it is destined to be a little awkward. To make the BCD as adjustable as possible, the shoulders straps of the Jetpack are constructed from soft 1.5” webbing, with pads underneath the strap, which tuck into pockets below the shoulder strap attachment point. Generally, this works well – however, sometimes the shoulder pads slip out of their pockets. This mostly occurs when I don/doff the BCD, or when I have it packed to carry off the boat. The fix would be to add a pad of Velcro inside the pockets where the pads tuck in. I feel like Oceanic could have also used normal 2” stiff webbing. That might lessen the problem with the shoulder pads and make it possible to put on standard 2” sliders and d-rings.
Finally – for the price point, you can absolutely get a “better” BCD. You can certainly find a lightweight travel BCD for about the same price. Yet, you won’t find something else with these features - above all, the ability to walk on/off the dive boat with just a compact backpack. The Jetpack isn’t perfect – the construction could be a little more robust, and there are some design changes I’d love to see Oceanic make if they ever re-release it. It can’t and won’t replace my BP/W for most of my diving needs, and I never expected it to. It has a very specific purpose, perhaps even more specific than a typical “travel” BCD. However, the Jetpack allows me to pack up all my dive gear into a compact backpack for travel, which is a fantastic and mostly well-executed idea.

NPO AEG VSK 94 w 9a-91 kit Pics: https://imgur.com/a/fQKSUhB Sales overview: https://youtu.be/ypG28woLCXg New never fielded NPO AEG VSK94 all stock, Includes the gun, Upgraded lightweight suppressor, 4 additional midcap mags (for a total of 5), conversion parts if you wanted to convert it to the 9a-91 (grip, upper reciever w folding stock, outer barrel, inner barrel, and barrel nut if running it without supressor and original manuals and documentation. This is a beautiful odd gun that is absolutely built like a tank all steel receiver with a hard phosphate coat same as the real deal. the VSK94 historically is/was used by the spetsnaz, fsb count4er terrorism units and other russian special forces as a 9x39 subsonic DMR as a easier to manufacture alternative to the likes of VSS. The 9A-91 primarily has seen use with Russian police forces. It is used as a cheaper and more versatile alternative to the SR-3M Vikhr I did a video look at this gun in detail here: https://youtu.be/6Aop8yqT5Gc . Gun was shipped in parts from russia, so no original box, I assembled it and went over install and reviewed it as i went. I did also examine the gearbox as well while it was out of the gun. You can find a internal review here: https://youtu.be/7uyfZ__9r3Q Asking $875 Obo for everything SOLD
KWA RM4 ERG Magpul edition Pics:
https://imgur.com/a/q6SIBzQ Sales Overview:
https://youtu.be/7AS_XO12oX4 This gun is used I have fielded it a few times but pretty low milage (i tend to collect more than I play).
Package include, Gun, 1x 30 rnd mag w/cutoff, 6x K120c's with cutoff, Leapers red/green dot, magpul backup rear iron sight, and original spring/recoil weight.
Internally
- cleaned regreased re shimmed,
- AOE and airseal work
- new bearing piston head
- oring aluminum air snozzle
- High torque neo motor.
- basic mosfet install with self resetting fuse
- Prommy 6.03mm tightbore barrel
- the Ulysses recoil system for KWA ERG's (this is only available in Korea and took some doing to get here) this is adjustable system that lets you go from about a m90 to about m110 in power while safely increasing the felt recoil, I have heard others comment its close ish to 9mm in terms of recoil by far the most you will get out of a electronic recoil system but its still a little weird as it technically recoils forward.
This gun is a blast to use, but it really wasnt getting the feild time from me over my other replicas so decided to sell it. Its a great PTW or "realistic" training type of weapon due to functioning bolt cutoff and that all mags can be locked to a realistic 30 rounds if desired, disabling the trigger after the last round fired and requiring you to hit the bolt release after changing a mag before you can fire again (note its not a GBBR the bolt doesn't actually blow back)
Asking $550 OBO

Golden Eagle GBBR NIB https://imgur.com/a/Eya0qn6 Selling this never been gassed or fired can be tested or chono'd on request. The GE GBBR system is a WA clone this means you can use WA upgrade parts (Which basically means GHK parts as they also run on the WA system). The receiver is Polymer but the hand guard and barrel are metal. The handguard is what they call the delta style which is sort of this interesting almost triangular shape see pics. From what I have heard these may not be the most amazing GBBR but are a fair base/entry into the GBBR world without breaking the bank with reasonable aftermarket part support.

2023.06.06 19:30 SnooSquirrels1375 Recently, I reached level 80 with my first character (warrior), and I want to share my experience in case it helps someone else.
First, a bit of context. I'm in my thirties and live with my partner. I have a job, training, and I take care of various household chores, so I can only play a couple of hours a day if I'm lucky. Often, I go several days without playing. Anyway, I reached level 80 a week ago, and since then, I've played 12 hours at level 80. I have a Gear Score (GS) of 3.5, and I'm exclusively playing as a tank. Here's what I've done so far to reach that GS:
- Reached level 80 by running WOTLK dungeons (from 72 to 80) and saved some drops along the way for when I could use them.
- Did battlegrounds to buy a shield and axe for tanking.
- Ran normal dungeons to get some gear I still didn't have.
- Increased my reputation to friendly with the Wyrmrest Accord and the Argent Crusade, bought their tabard, and wore it in dungeons.
- Bought a couple of reputation items.
- Once I reached a GS of 2.5, I started doing Heroics as a tank.
- Bought emblem gear in Dalaran with what I earned from doing Heroics.
At this point, I feel well-equipped for Heroics. I can tank bosses relatively easily, and if the healer and DPS are good, we can breeze through the dungeon. The main problem I'm facing now is that many groups formed in the Heroic queue actually want to do Heroic+ dungeons. I'm eagerly awaiting the update that will separate them in the group finder. Other than that, the experience has been enjoyable. I knew I wouldn't measure up to most players reaching level 80 at such a late stage in the expansion, and I think taking it slow has helped me avoid frustration and enjoy the experience.
Two tips I can give you are:
- Take the initiative, form the group, and fly to the dungeon to provide summons. This way, you prevent the group from falling apart.
- If you don't feel like forming the group, leave it running in the background. Join the queue, minimize the game, and when it flashes, you can respond to the message or accept the invitation. In the meantime, enjoy some Netflix and chill. If you're more tryhard, work on reputation, professions, or farming while you wait for a group invite.
So far, it has been a great experience, and my best advice is to take it easy and not rush.
