Kneejerk United: End of season review & Survey results
Hi there Kneejerkers, last week we asked for your feedback on our season, specifically focusing on our move to the KneejerkUnited subreddit in March this year. The results have been collected and I can now share it all with you, going over the highs & lows, and what the plans are for next year.
This post is quite long so a summary is written at the bottom, with a second short survey for those who are happy to give us their feedback. Thank you in advance!

Part 1: Season overview

We unfortunately had our worst ever final position since KJU was founded 5 years ago, finishing with an overall rank of 845,195. We had a dreadful start to the season, only entering the top 2 million after wildcarding in GW9, and only entered the top 1 million after our 2nd wildcard in GW27. At our peak we were ranked 427,644 in GW31, but an uninspiring final few weeks saw us fall back down at the end. Fortunately we still finished in the top 1m players, but it's certainly not a season to remember fondly.
The first graph below has extra markings for important points in our season:
  • Green: GW9 wildcard
  • Yellow: GW17 world cup
  • Red: GW20 triple captain
  • Pink: GW27 wildcard
  • Grey: GW28 move to the new subreddit
  • Blue: GW29 bench boost
  • Orange: GW32 free hit
Since the season as a whole was pretty lacklustre for us, I don't think we can say that moving to the KneejerkUnited subreddit made an overall positive or negative impact on our performance. Shortly after the move we were doing well, but then it started going wrong again, and with only 10 gameweeks worth of data, there's not a huge sample to go from anyway.
All we can say in that regard for now is that, we will be staying in our new home next season, and hopefully now that more people are aware of the subreddit and how it works, we will see better results next year.

Part 2: Survey results & analysis

Firstly we would like to thank everyone who took their time to fill in the survey and give us their feedback on the positive and negative aspects to KJU. We want this subreddit and the team to be as good as possible and are always welcome to ideas and criticisms!
We are happy to report that 86% of you have enjoyed being a part of the new subreddit. 97% of respondents to the survey were subscribed to it, and 69% of you have the notifications turned on.
Analysing these numbers a bit further we can see that, of the 14% of people who didn't enjoy the move to our own subreddit, 20% hadn't subscribed to it, and 60% didn't turn on notifications. Doing these things would make you feel more connected to the process and the team, and I would highly recommend to everyone that wants to be a part of KJU to do these things.
We then wanted to know how the new notification system was going. Before moving to KneejerkUnited, there were 7 notification groups and we would send a link in the groups to notify when new posts came out. One advantage of the new subreddit though, is the freedom and automation it provides to us. Turning on notifications should notify people when new posts are published, cutting out some of our work.
Fortunately we can say that 67% of you found the new system to be either easy or very easy, 22% found it to be partly working, with 11% saying that being notified of new posts was difficult.
Looking at the numbers closer showed us however, that all the people who had difficulties being notified of new posts hadn't subscribed to receive notifications for new posts, and only 25% of people who found the notifications to be 'so-so' had notifications turned on.
The clear solution to this therefore seems to be to subscribe to the subreddit and turn on notifications: 92% of people who had subscribed with notifications on found the system to be working well. To the 8% of people with notifications turned on who only find the system to be 'so-so', I unfortunately don't know what to tell you. The system works for me and most others, so maybe there are further settings with your reddit account that are preventing the notifications from coming through?
We have had a few questions asking how to turn notifications on, so here are some guides to help out:
Next, we wanted to know your opinion regarding the captain and bench posts.
A whopping 92% of you were happy with the format (despite multiple comments elsewhere asking for changes to the system - I'll address that a bit later). The 8% who said here that they didn't like the new captain system were also unhappy with the new subreddit as a whole and didn't leave specific feedback on how to improve the captain polls in the future.
We have always seen fewer people voting on the bench polls compared to the captain polls, both before switching to KneejerkUnited and after, and wanted to know if there was something specific we could change here.
29% of you voted for the suggestion that we would write the players in the comments and the 4 most upvoted players would be on the bench for that week, and 9% of you voted for other suggestions - which were essentially to have a separate bench thread.
Surprisingly however, 62% of people wanted to keep going with the same system for the bench polls, so we won't change anything to this regard for now, but we will continue to bear this issue and the potential solutions in mind.
Alongside these yes/no questions, we asked some open-ended questions and allow you to write your thoughts freely and let us know any specific feedback you might have. Starting with the positives, it is clear that the main benefit you saw of the subreddit was the ease in finding KJU posts and being able to filter out other fpl related content.
There were a lot less comments and engagement in general, which was to be expected after only just starting in a new location, and this was seen as a positive in the sense of less trolls are commenting now, since only those who are interested in the team will see the posts.
The other main benefit was that there is more freedom to discuss general team ideas outside of the strict transfer & captain/bench posts and that there is more flexibility to how the team was managed. As 'managers' for the team, we also strongly agree with this point and it is one of the main reasons the subreddit is being used, so we are happy to see this being recognised by your comments.
We also asked what aspects of the subreddit you would like to keep the same for next year, and there weren't really any specific answers, just that you want it to be generally the same. The interesting comments regarding the next season came from the following question, asking for what improvements could be made.
Moving onto the negatives, and, also as we expected, the biggest drawback of the new subreddit was the reduction in engagement. There are far fewer comments on the posts now than there were before, and fewer votes on the captain & bench polls. This was also heavily discussed when we asked for improvements for next season, since the most commented change was to post more on the FantasyPL subreddit - which we will commit to doing. The number of subscribers to the subreddit has grown steadily since we started using it, and over time I am sure it will continue to grow, but we will also be more active in posting and 'advertising' the team to involve more active users.
The next most commented aspect of the subreddit that people didn't like is that, as occurs all through Reddit, older comments generally get more upvoted than newer ones, even if the newer comment is a better idea. There isn't a huge amount we can do to address this, but we can try turning on Competition Mode on transfer suggestion posts. This would hide the number of upvotes each comment has and display them in a random order, so that people aren't as easily influenced to just vote on whatever comment is already top when they look at a post.
The final two issues people had with KneejerkUnited was that it was hard to use and that the notification system didn't work. The notification system I have already spoken about - we would recommend to turn on notifications, since that has worked for 92% of people, and potentially you need to check your other account settings if it still isn't working. If you are then having difficulties with the subreddit and interacting with the posts then please contact us and we are more than happy to help. We find everything easier to manage on the new subreddit but everyone has to start somewhere, so if website functionality is an issue for you then let us know so we can make it a more enjoyable experience for you too!
Regarding other improvements for next season that weren't already covered, people want us to make posts a bit earlier to capture earlier price rises and have more discussions in general before making transfers. We implemented a weekly team discussion thread which was always stickied at the top of the KneejerkUnited page, but maybe you were unaware of this or its functionality? Ideally we can have discussions there, potentially instigating early transfers at the start of the week, then toward the end of a week we would have a separate transfers thread if needed, to cement our plans going into the following gameweek.
This is also something that should hopefully increase in functionality if user numbers and general engagement increase. Also, you are always free to make your own posts in the new subreddit! If you have a burning idea or transfer suggestion, we invite you to share your thoughts and we can all discuss there. You don't need to wait for one of us to create a post if you don't want to.
Suggestions for a separate poll for a vice captain came up a few times, however 92% said earlier that they were happy with how the captain/vice captain polls are being done. For now we plan to leave the captain choices the same as we currently do it, but are welcome to a discussion or changing this if there is high demand for something new.
The final improvement comments were from people asking if wildcard planning could be made easier to follow - and I'm not sure how in all honesty. Wildcards are complicated enough with your own team, but for a community team, it can be a mess with short turnaround times. The only advice I can give for now would be to always look for the latest post when we are building a wildcard / free hit team, since replying to old posts means we have already moved on from that decision, and your suggestion won't be looked at.
As part of the survey we also asked what area of the world you live in, to give us an idea of what time zone people want the posts to be. 64% of respondents are from Europe with a further 8% in Africa, with similar time zones. Since the Premier League is in England, and we are also all based in Europe, we will keep our posting schedule as it has been (which generally means no post before 7am and no post later than 10PM GMT). There may be occasional exceptions for late news or so, but there won't be much activity outside of this general time frame.
This means the 28% of you living in North America & Asia are unfortunately getting the short-end of the straw here, but there's nothing we can do about that.

Part 3: Short summary

  • This was the worst year for Kneejerk United history. We only broke into the top 1m players in GW27, then created our new subreddit in GW28. The poor finish therefore can't be attributed to the creation of the subreddit and we will remain on KneejerkUnited next season
  • The survey was posted just to the KneejerkUnited subreddit, and 86% of you who answered said you have been happy with the move here from the main FantasyPL subreddit
  • Of those who haven't enjoyed it, a large portion hadn't turned on notifications. We would highly recommend everyone who wants to follow the community team to subscribe to the KneejerkUnited subreddit and subscribe to notifications. This has worked well for 92% of people
  • Guides on how to turn on notifications are here: Website, iPhone, Android
  • Despite some calls to separate the captain & vice captain polls, we will be leaving this the same for now - but may change in the future if necessary. The same applies for how the bench polls are conducted
  • The biggest benefit of the subreddit was that all KJU related posts are together in one place and other fpl related content was filtered out
  • Although non-transfer related discussions were taking place since moving to the new subreddit, there are calls to further increase this, and have earlier posts to capture early price rises. There is a weekly discussion post every Monday to have general team discussions, and you are welcome to create your own posts as well
  • Increasing user engagement was the biggest call for improvement next year, and we will focus on cross-posting more things to the FantasyPL subreddit to attract more users to join us at KneejerkUnited
  • We will also try turning on competition mode in transfer suggestion posts to stop the influence of older comments being more upvoted compared to newer, better comments

Part 4: Final survey

Finally, we would like to hear from those of you reading this from FantasyPL. There were lots of you engaging with Kneejerk United before we moved to KneejerkUnited, but a number of you did not join the new subreddit when we made the switch in March, and overall engagement is down.
Would you mind letting us know your thoughts towards the community team please? Where you see the team headed next season, and if you would be interested in following along? If you haven't joined the new subreddit, may I ask why? Were you not aware of its existence or are there other factors in play? We would like the community team to be as open and inclusive to as many people as possible and would love to see it grow next season!

Part 5: Closing words

There were a number of comments on the survey showing that people enjoy the constant updates to the team and the general process, and we were thanked for our work in running everything. From our point of view, we thoroughly enjoy doing it all and thank you for your appreciation! Although the end result wasn't what we were hoping for, in the end it was still a bit of fun.
The Premier League kicks off on the 12th of August for the 2023/24 season, so at the beginning of August we will begin the process of setting up for the new year, here on KneejerkUnited! On behalf of u/chibibabymoon, u/FireflyKaylee and myself, we are looking forward to next season getting started!

2023.06.07 10:42 FalseCogs Will, soul, manifesting, and retrocausality

There are some areas where I remain confused about conscious wavefunction collapse or other models of personal agent causation. And there are some concerns I have about the moral sensibility of certain assumptions.

Definition of terms

Agent scope, or delineation of will

Imagine a balloon filled with air. Consider each part -- the rubber and the air -- as two separate entities. Each on its own has certain will. And these wills oppose. Yet when taken together as one composite entity, new will emerges. This may be written as follows, where brackets denote material or causal set, acting as an agent:
In the same style, we may consider undue influence:

Role and function of soul

We may thus assume that if bodies have souls, then the will as expressed by the body is that of [soul + body], or [soul + animal instinct + conditioning]. With this in mind, what is the nature or will of [soul]? What aspect or portion of will derives from the soul? What does it want on its own, independent from the body and the body's natural inclinations?
Many people have claimed that only humans have souls. Seemingly the main differences in terms of will between humans and other animals are that:
  1. Humans are usually of higher intelligence, able to devise more complex instrumental plans;
  2. Humans are often obsessed with social hierarchy and other symbolic pursuits;
What difference, or portion of difference, does the soul provide?

Many worlds and quantum collapse

One seemingly popular proposition is that the soul is connected or synonymous with consciousness, and that consciousness effectively chooses which of many worlds one ends up in by controlling quantum wavefunction collapse. About this proposition I have some questions:

Sensibility of assumed manifest

There is a phenomenon known as the just world hypothesis, where people assume that good things happen to good people, and bad things happen to bad people. As a corollary, the presence of good fortune may be taken to indicate good character, and vice versa for bad fortune. But is this belief sound? Do chaos and chance not play a part in one's fortune? Are there not immoral behaviours that result in personal gain at the expense of others?
The idea that one's personal soul or consciousness chooses the world seems similar to the just world hypothesis. If one could manifest the future this way, or perhaps even manifest the present through retrocausality, then surely one is morally responsible for the hand one receives -- or so the assumption of conscious manifest may go.
This type of reasoning may be the result of magical thinking, or loose inference, mixed with the desire to feel in control over random events. For example, one may surmise, "I received this hand, and I want this hand, therefore [retroinference] I received this hand because I want it". Yet when the wanted state of affairs fails to manifest, one may deflect with "I didn't really want it that much" (rewriting the past) or may blame its failure on outside interference. Moreover, this style of attribution can easily be applied to other people, particularly those with lesser fortune -- "they didn't care enough" or "their soul wasn't worthy".
Those in positions of power have historically used very similar logic in the form of divine decree, predestination, or similar -- where their position was ordained from above, thus legitimising any fortune, and offloading blame for any resulting harm.
When conscious manifesting and the just world hypothesis are embraced, moral reflection becomes unnecessary. Harm and failure can easily be dismissed by lack of care, or by divine desert -- "you can't disprove these positions, so there's nothing wrong with hurting people, as long as I benefit".
Those who stand to gain from past luck or future exploitive intent have plenty of reason to deny the role of randomness, or the harm in exploitation. But there is at least one argument that may be made. This is to compare the long-term viability and success of systems based on opposing sets of causal assumption. One key, however, is to adjust for inter-group exploitation and interference. For example, it would be fallacious to conclude that morality is undesirable since the more exploitive entity -- at the expense of the more honest entity -- had greater gains. The very nature of morality, after all, is about group happiness -- the more inclusive and reliable, the better. Yet operating under the just world hypothesis and the assumption of conscious manifest is among the most selfish, status-quo-maintaining things to do.
With that said, obviously it can be challenging, or even infeasible, to falsify a negative -- such as to prove there are not individual souls. But is it better to operate under selfish assumptions, or is it better to have compassion? Do groups that believe in souls and conscious manifesting do better, or do groups that believe in soulless causation do better? Which makes a happier world?

2023.06.07 10:05 SexyManOnTheMoon UA&P or UP?

Hi! I know this might seem like an easy choice for some, but I'm really having a hard time choosing between the two, esp since UP is now giving a second chance for those who haven't confirmed. Basically, I'm interested in computer related studies for college and while UA&P isn't really focused in those studies, I loved their inclusion of business studies in the curriculum plus I also get full scholarship.
However, I also have the option to go to UP but I kinda dislike how UP is really all about academics, but ofc it still is UP. If there are any insights you could give me from your experiences or just some opinions it would be greatly appreciated!

2023.06.07 09:53 RedSquirrel17 Is 'Jeanne du Barry' Really A Box Office Success?

You may have seen some entertainment outlets last week hailing Jeanne du Barry's apparent financial success.
Johnny Depp's 'Jeanne du Barry' enjoys decade-best start for a Cannes opener at French box office
The Hollywood Reporter
Eric Marti, from industry analysts Comscore France, believes the film could reach 850,000 admissions by the end of its theatrical run.
French distributor Le Pacte is even more bullish:
Le Pacte’s boss Jean Labadie, a veteran French producer-distributor who was one of the film’s first backers along with the sales banner Goodfellas (formerly Wild Bunch International), is even more enthusiastic than Marti, saying that “Jeanne du Barry” could garner up to one million admissions in French theaters.
However, despite that 'record-breaking' opening, the numbers aren't quite adding up for Maïwenn's expensive period drama.
After opening at the Cannes film festival on May 16th, Jeanne du Barry scored 401,481 admissions in its first week — 345,298 in theaters — which is indeed the best start for a Cannes-opener at the French box office since 2013's The Great Gatsby. Depp's PR has, predictably, been celebrating this as a triumphant return to box office success for the 59-year-old, signalling to any onlooking Hollywood producers that he's still a draw for discerning punters. But these numbers start to look less impressive when you scratch the surface.
The film's second week admissions declined by 55% to 156,279, and a further 52% in its third week to 75,653, for a current cumulative total of 631,477 admissions. It has grossed an estimated $4.8m so far, according to Box Office Mojo. Assuming that rate of decline stays consistent across its theatrical run, admissions will plateau at around 700,000 for a total estimated gross of $5.3m, well short of that lofty prediction of one million admissions from Le Pacte. If Comscore's prediction of 850k comes true, that would result in a $6.4m gross, so let's call that the upper estimate.
So how would that stack up against Maïwenn's career so far? Her most successful film, Polisse (2011), achieved 2.4m admissions, grossed $19.8m ($20.3m worldwide) and won the Jury Prize at Cannes 2011. Her most recent film ADN (2021) grossed $2.1m, despite being affected by reduced admissions due to Covid. Jeanne du Barry is tracking closely with Mon Roi (2015), which attracted 745,483 admissions and grossed $5m ($8m WW). In short, JdB is performing close to average for a Maïwenn film, so while Depp's inclusion doesn't appear to have significantly harmed its performance (as expected, he was never cancelled), it certainly hasn't elevated it beyond expectations.
But will it be profitable? The film's production budget was reported by Deadline to be $22.4m, making it one of the most expensive French films of 2022 and one of only three French films with a budget of over €10m. That figure doesn't even include things like marketing and distribution costs, so the film's break-even point will be several million higher. You don't have to be a mathematician to work out that there's going to be a pretty sizeable shortfall there.
PS if you're interested in a detailed breakdown of JdB's numbers, check out film producer (and Amber supporter) Paulo Boccato's threads (#1 and #2), in which he explains that while the film's opening week looks good on the surface, the finer detail shows that it's underperforming relative to its high production budget and wide release.
Now, it must be said that the French release isn't the end of the story: Netflix have acquired streaming rights (in France only) starting 15 months after its theatrical release, and there have been attempts to find an American distributor, although that has proved difficult so far due to Depp's poor reputation in the US film industry. But even if it does end up being shown across the Atlantic, it's difficult to see how the $20m (minimum) gap to profitability is going to be bridged.
So, it's well on course to becoming a flop at the French box office, a US deal might not happen and Netflix probably won't make up the shortfall, which all begs the question: why was this film ever greenlit with a budget so high and a star whose reputation makes it difficult to find distribution in the US? Beware the Depp spin on this one.

2023.06.07 09:15 AccomplishedBig7666 Golden Advice about writing, take notes you noobs!

  1. Write like nobody's watching, because let's face it, nobody really cares about your writing anyway. Just throw words on the page and hope for the best.
  2. Remember, the more adjectives and adverbs you use, the better. Nothing says "masterpiece" like a paragraph filled with unnecessary descriptors that slow down the pace of your story.
  3. Forget about editing. Who needs to revise and polish their work? Just hit that publish button as soon as you finish writing and let the world marvel at your raw talent.
  4. Don't bother with character development or plot structure. Readers love it when your story goes absolutely nowhere and your characters have the depth of a puddle. It keeps them guessing, right?
  5. Avoid originality at all costs. Stick to the same tired clichés and overused tropes that everyone else is using. After all, why take risks when you can follow the crowd?
  6. Show, don't tell? Nah, just tell. Why waste time painting vivid scenes and creating immersive experiences for your readers when you can simply state everything in a dry, monotone voice?
  7. Use as much jargon and technical terms as possible, especially if your target audience has no idea what you're talking about. Nothing says "inclusive" like confusing and alienating your readers.
  8. Forget about researching your subject matter. Just make things up as you go along. Who needs accuracy when you can create a world where pigs fly and gravity is optional?
  9. Long, convoluted sentences are your best friend. Never mind clarity and readability. The more complex and confusing your writing, the more intelligent you'll appear.
  10. Lastly, always seek validation from random strangers on the internet. Their opinions are the only ones that matter, so be sure to let their feedback dictate your self-worth as a writer.

2023.06.07 09:05 aristocreon "Making of the Meme King" (2023) - A 🦝 Review [1/10]

"Making of the Meme King" (2023) opens with promise, offering viewers a deep-dive into the life and times of GameStop meme-stock phenom, Ryan Cohen. The potential for balanced insight quickly takes a backseat, however, as host Melissa Lee's evident biases color the narrative throughout.
From their attempt to over-intellectualize simple concepts like 'Call Options', to their exhaustive dissection of Cohen's past trades, the documentary's intent seems less to educate and more to undermine Cohen's credibility. Despite his proven success as an entrepreneur, his strategies and motives are often unfairly questioned, seemingly to shift attention away from mainstream media's role in the GameStop scandal.
The piece suffers further from its ill-advised choice of contributors. Most notably, 'cybersecurity expert' John Reed Stark, whose insights feel awkwardly out of place. Furthermore, his questionable credibility and expertise found with a simple Google search makes his inclusion even more perplexing.
The attempt to visually embody the narrative via an evolving abstract painting of Cohen feels like an overdone trope, missing the mark on artistic subtlety and symbolic depth. This lack of originality, much like the documentary's core content, feels more like a distraction than a revelation.
The documentary shines a harsh spotlight on Cohen's supposedly 'inappropriate' tweets, while failing to recognize the community he has built around shared goals and humor. Its overt attempt to tarnish Cohen's reputation feels heavy-handed, especially in light of his journey as a self-made entrepreneur.
In all, "Making of the Meme King" falls short as a fair exploration of a pivotal figure in the meme-stock world. With its blatant bias, misplaced expertise, and failure to constructively question or present facts, it does little more than muddy the waters of financial journalism. For a man who started his first business at 15 and made billions before 40, Ryan Cohen deserves a more impartial and comprehensive portrayal. 1/10

2023.06.07 08:58 bubblegumjules Did anyone go to the Lawyers Weekly 30u30 event on Friday? Worst experience ever.

What an absolute joke of an event. At $295 a ticket (that’s the cheapest if you buy a table of 10!), we were only served an entree and a main, they stopped serving alcohol at about 1030 (event was meant to go until 11), the whole night was just speeches so not even a chance to mingle and… THERE WAS NO DANCEFLOOR.
To add insult to injury, we paid for our tickets (not the firm), but the prices were advertised excluding GST. For anyone familiar with the ACL, the prices MUST be shown inclusive of all taxes if advertised to consumers (even if businesses are targeted customers as well).
I won’t even go into what a joke the actual awards are….

2023.06.07 08:55 Money_Scene_9414 Vacuum Elevators: The New Standard for Modern Living in Hyderabad

In the fast-paced world we live in today, technology continues to shape the way we live and interact with our surroundings. From smartphones to smart homes, innovations have revolutionized various aspects of our lives. One such innovative solution that has gained popularity in recent years is the vacuum elevator, redefining vertical transportation and becoming the new standard for modern living in Hyderabad.

Introduction to Vacuum Elevators

Vacuum elevators are cutting-edge residential elevators that utilize the power of suction to move passengers between different floors. Unlike traditional elevators that rely on cables, pulleys, and counterweights, vacuum elevators employ pneumatic technology to create a vacuum environment within the cylindrical shaft. This unique design allows for smooth and efficient vertical transportation.

Advantages of Vacuum Elevators

Space-saving Design

One of the key advantages of vacuum elevators is their space-saving design. Unlike traditional elevators that require a separate machine room and hoistway, vacuum elevators can be installed directly into the existing structure of a home, saving valuable floor space. This makes them an ideal choice for both new constructions and retrofitting in Hyderabad's urban dwellings.

Energy Efficiency

Vacuum elevators are known for their energy efficiency. The pneumatic system consumes significantly less energy compared to traditional elevators, making them a sustainable choice for environmentally conscious homeowners. By reducing energy consumption, vacuum elevators help lower utility costs and contribute to a greener future.

Smooth and Quiet Operation

Another notable advantage of vacuum elevators is their smooth and quiet operation. The absence of cables and pulleys eliminates the need for mechanical components that generate noise. As a result, vacuum elevators provide a peaceful and comfortable riding experience, enhancing the overall ambiance of a home.

Easy Installation and Maintenance

Vacuum elevators are relatively easy to install and maintain. Their modular design and minimal structural requirements simplify the installation process, reducing the time and effort involved. Additionally, vacuum elevators have fewer moving parts compared to traditional elevators, resulting in lower maintenance costs and improved reliability.

Safety Features of Vacuum Elevators

Despite their innovative design, vacuum elevators prioritize safety. They are equipped with various safety features to ensure passenger well-being during operation.

Over-Speed Governor

Vacuum elevators are equipped with an over-speed governor that monitors the elevator's speed. In the event of overspeed, the governor triggers safety mechanisms to bring the elevator to a controlled stop, preventing any potential accidents.

Emergency Battery Backup

To address power outages, vacuum elevators come with an emergency battery backup system. This ensures that passengers can safely exit the elevator even during electricity failures, providing peace of mind and convenience.

Air-Tight Structure

Vacuum elevators have an air-tight structure that ensures passenger safety. The vacuum environment within the elevator shaft creates a seal, preventing air leakage and maintaining the necessary pressure for smooth operation.

Automatic Safety Brake

In case of any unexpected power loss or malfunction, vacuum elevators are equipped with an automatic safety brake. This mechanism ensures that the elevator stops immediately, preventing any free fall or sudden movements that could endanger passengers.

Stylish and Versatile Designs

Apart from their functional advantages, vacuum elevators offer stylish and versatile designs that can complement any home decor.

Transparent Cabins

Many vacuum elevators feature transparent cabins, providing a visually appealing and modern aesthetic. These see-through cabins not only add a touch of elegance but also create an illusion of spaciousness, enhancing the overall design of the home.

Panoramic Views

Vacuum elevators with panoramic views are gaining popularity among homeowners in Hyderabad. These elevators feature large windows, allowing passengers to enjoy breathtaking views of the cityscape or natural surroundings as they ascend or descend between floors.

Customization Options

Vacuum elevators offer a wide range of customization options, allowing homeowners to personalize their elevators according to their preferences. From cabin finishes and lighting to control panels and safety features, customers have the flexibility to create a unique elevator that suits their individual style.

Accessibility and Convenience

Vacuum elevators are designed to enhance accessibility and convenience for residents of all ages and abilities.

Suitable for All Ages

Whether it's carrying heavy loads of groceries, moving furniture, or simply avoiding the strain of climbing stairs, vacuum elevators offer convenience for people of all ages. They provide a seamless and effortless mode of transportation within a home, eliminating the need for strenuous physical exertion.

Ideal for People with Mobility Challenges

For individuals with mobility challenges or disabilities, vacuum elevators offer an inclusive solution. These elevators provide a safe and reliable means of transportation, enabling individuals with limited mobility to navigate their homes comfortably and independently.

Vacuum Elevators in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, known for its rapid urbanization and modern infrastructure, has embraced vacuum elevators as a preferred choice for vertical transportation.

Growing Demand

With the city's increasing population and the desire for luxurious living spaces, the demand for vacuum elevators in Hyderabad has witnessed a significant surge. Homeowners are recognizing the value and convenience these elevators bring to their residences, making them a sought-after feature in modern homes.

Installation and Service Providers

To meet the growing demand, several reputable elevator companies in Hyderabad offer vacuum elevator installation and maintenance services. These experienced professionals ensure proper installation, adherence to safety standards, and timely servicing to guarantee the elevator's long-term performance.

Cost and Value

While vacuum elevators may require an initial investment, their long-term benefits make them a valuable addition to any modern home.

Initial Investment

The cost of a vacuum elevator can vary depending on factors such as the number of floors it serves, customization options, and additional features. Although the initial investment may be higher compared to traditional elevators, the benefits and convenience they provide justify the expenditure.

Long-Term Benefits

Vacuum elevators offer numerous long-term benefits that contribute to their value. These include reduced energy consumption, lower maintenance costs, increased property value, and improved accessibility, making them a worthwhile investment for homeowners looking to enhance their living spaces.

Environmental Friendliness

In an era focused on sustainability, vacuum elevators stand out as an environmentally friendly choice.

Energy Efficiency

With their energy-efficient operation, vacuum elevators help reduce overall energy consumption in homes. By using pneumatic technology and consuming less electricity compared to traditional elevators, they contribute to a greener environment and lower carbon footprint.

Reduced Carbon Footprint

The reduced energy consumption of vacuum elevators results in a lower carbon footprint. By choosing these elevators, homeowners in Hyderabad can make a positive environmental impact and contribute to the city's sustainability goals.

Maintenance and Service

To ensure the optimal performance and longevity of a vacuum elevator, regular maintenance and reliable support are essential.

Routine Maintenance

Vacuum elevators require routine maintenance to keep them in optimal condition. Regular inspections, lubrication of moving parts, and cleaning of the cabin and shaft are necessary to prevent any issues and ensure a smooth and safe operation.

Reliable Support

Choosing a reputable elevator company in Hyderabad ensures reliable support and assistance whenever required. Professional technicians can address any maintenance or service needs promptly, ensuring the elevator remains in excellent working condition.

Case Studies and Customer Testimonials

Numerous case studies and customer testimonials highlight the positive experiences and satisfaction of homeowners who have installed vacuum elevators in their Hyderabad residences. These stories provide real-life examples of the benefits, convenience, and added value that vacuum elevators bring to modern living spaces.

2023.06.07 08:53 FunAd7936 Why do people feel the need to say “I am not racist” when they are criticizing the casting of The Little Mermaid, because the actress is black?

Makes absolutely no sense at all. Why are grown men making constant comments on social media, posting videos and expressing how much they hate the Little Mermaid and claiming it is a flop of a movie? Then say things like: “We can’t even have an opinion anymore without being called racist”.
Like, dude! The fact that you see the casting of a black girl as “race-swapping” instead of “race-inclusive” is a HUGE indication you got at the very least some kind of racial bias. Let’s be for real. Why perceive “race-inclusion” as “race-swapping”? Race-swapping is what Hollywood has done to black, Asian and Latino people in cinema since the 1920’s, or did you forget that white people played every race — Latino, black and Asian — in cinema for at least 80 years, now THAT is race-swapping. Let’s not even get started with BLACK face, I mean C’mon dude, if you are going to have race constantly in your mind, and feel “victimized” because you feel that a black girl being casted means “white-erasure”, you at least gotta know white history and the detrimental effect of viewing other races as “non-human” and “entitled to nothing”. C’mon man, you are at the very least IGNORANT and RACIALLY BIAS for passionately going after a black actress, who NAILED the role of Ariel.
Let’s start being honest with ourselves and start recognizing that WE might just be the problem, and not a black girl who got casted on a major film for being THAT talented. Let’s start seeing things for what they are, through a clear lens, and no a distorted one.

Here are our top 10 picks:
Number 10: Belém Tower The Belem Tower, part of UNESCO World Heritage, is one of the most recognizable tourist attractions in Lisbon. Built in the 16th century, it was considered the gateway to the nation’s capital, strategically located at the mouth of the Tagus River. It was initially built as a fort to protect the city from incoming raids along the river. The tower is also a symbol of Europe’s Age of Discovery, also known as Age of Exploration, a period in the 15th and 16th century where some European nations, including Portugal, began exploring and conquering the world. Did you know that the tower once stood on an island, but the earthquake of 1755 shifted the river’s course, moving the island closer to land? Don’t skip nearby attractions including the statue celebrating the Portuguese Age of Discovery, and Waterfront Promenade Belém with a fantastic view towards the beautiful 25 de Abril bridge
Number 9: Old-style forms of public transportation In the late 18-hundreds and the beginning of 20th century, Lisbon came up with several ingenious transportation solutions to help locals and visitors tackle the city’s steep hills and enjoy its magnificent sights. Trams are a popular way to ger around the city, nowadays especially amongst tourists. These small nostalgic streetcars have been a part of Lisbon’s streets since 1901. Ride the renowned tram number 28 that passes through the old city and other famous parts of Lisbon. By the way, did you know that before 1901 trams ran as a horsecar line, but due to Lisbon’s steep slopes, the horses were eventually replaced by a more efficient cable-driven transport. Funiculars are another fun way to explore Lisbon. Ascensor do Lavra, city’s first funicular, was inaugurated in 1884. There are others, like Elevador da Glória famous for its colorful street art, or Bica funicular that will take you through the picturesque part of the city. Ride the neo-Gothic vertical lift Elevador de Santa Justa connecting downtown and Chiado, or take advantage of the modern ones, like Lift Castelo.
Number 8: Castel of Saint George Castel of Saint George, initially surrounded by a wall to form a citadel, is now an iconic historical complex that played an essential role in the history of Lisbon. The fortification dates back to the 1st century AD and was occupied by different civilizations, however, the area was inhabited long before. The site was eventually conquered from the Moors by the Portuguese military action in the 1147 Siege of Lisbon. In the 13th century, the castle became a fortified residence for the kings. Today, visitors can enjoy a walk-through of castle’s expansive grounds that include the ruins of the royal palace, a permanent exhibition with objects found in the archaeological area, and several platforms with amazing panoramic views of the city and other attractions. Of course, you cannot miss funny and loud peacocks roaming around the castle complex, a sort of unofficial castle permanent residents. Check our Lisbon walking tour to get the real feel of the castle and the entire city. The link is in the description.
Number 7: Mercado da Ribeira and other food destinations One does not fully explore Lisbon without tasting the city’s unique cuisine. Mercado da Ribeira is one of Lisbon’s oldest markets and has been around since the 13th century. From the early beginning, the market has undergone several upgrades. The market hall, which features iron interiors and a large oriental dome, was opened in 1882. The area is divided into the traditional market that sells fresh produce and a modern food hall with over 30 stalls and bars serving top-notch Portuguese cuisine as well as food from other parts of the world. In 2014, the Time Out Market, a venture of Time Out magazine, took over the food hall part of Mercado da Ribeira. Don’t skip other markets and food destinations across the city, like the bohemian Lx Factory situated in an old textile factory complex, now full of trendy bars and restaurants, quirky shops, independent art studios and Livraria Ler Devagar — one of the most unique bookstores in the world. Walk around cobblestone streets, sit down in one of many bars or restaurants, and soak up the atmosphere. Explore Alfama and other districts with traditional taverns and restaurants, some even offering live fado, a unique genre of music that originated in Lisbon. Check our travel guide for more suggestions. By the way, our mobile-friendly travel guide covers the top 20 things to do in Lisbon and things to know before you visit, including maps, opening hours, links to buy tickets, itinerary suggestions, and other information. By purchising our travel guide, you are also helping us sustain this channel, so a big thank you for that!
Number 6: Carmo Convent Built in the 14th century, Carmo Convent used to be the largest church in Lisbon. But the Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed the building, along with much of the city. Today, visitors can admire its grand arches and the carvings on the walls that have survived for centuries. A small archeological museum located at the sacristy features archeological finds from Portuguese history, including fountains, tombs, and architectural relics from different styles and areas. The museum also features a 15-minute interactive video projection describing the convent’s history.
Number 5: Lisbon Zoo No matter your age, a trip to the zoo will always be fun and memorable, and especially so at the Lisbon Zoo. The zoo founded in 1884, is the first park with various flora and fauna in the Iberian Peninsula. Today, Lisbon Zoo is home to over 2,000 animals from 300 different species from all over the globe, including dolphins, tigers, reptiles, primates, and other animals. The mission of the zoo is also scientific research, conservation and breeding of endangered species, along with the recreational activities. Embark on a unique adventure and explore the zoo from a different perspective and jump on a fascinating 20-minutes cable car ride.
Number 4: Museum of Art, Architecture, and Technology Visit The Museum of Art, Architecture, and Technology or MAAT opened in 2016. As the name suggests, it is home to exhibitions in art, architecture, and technology. Its distinct design stands out, with its prominent location on the banks of the River Tagus. The museum’s rooftop offers a fantastic views of the 25 de Abril bridge and the city. Instead of permanent collections, visitors can explore temporary exhibits by contemporary artists, and other creators like architects, both national and international. Don’t skip Tejo Power Station, situated in a former thermoelectric power plant, now a permanent exhibition venue. Lisbon has a long and rich history, and this is reflected in its numerous museums. Check our travel guide for more suggestions.
Number 3: Jerónimos Monastery Construction of this massive monastery and a church for the Order of Saint Jerome began in 1501 but was not completed for another 100 years. Jerónimos Monastery replaced the old church used by monks providing assistance to sailors in transit. The monastery is a prime example of Manueline architectural style from the 16th century. This Portuguese late Gothic style originated in the Portuguese Renaissance and Age of Discoveries. The style incorporates richly decorated maritime elements carved in limestone discovered on expeditions of Vasco da Gama and Pedro Álvares Cabral. Stroll along the two-story cloisters and the Church of Santa Maria, and it will be easy to understand why Jerónimos Monastery is considered a symbol of Portugal’s immense wealth during the Age of Discoveries. The monastery, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is also a burial place of King Manuel I, and other prominent figures, like the famous Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama. Did you know that the recipe for the world-renowned Portuguese custard tarts known as pastéis de Nata also called pastéis de Belém was created by the monks of Jerónimos Monastery? This video is sponsored by Beeyond, helping you save space when you travel and organize your suitcase. A revolutionary new way to organize your luggage consists of a set of small and large packing cubes. Once you’re done packing, just close both zippers, compress the air out of your packing cubes like this, and voila, your clothes are compressed, and your luggage is organized. We use Beeyond packing cubes on our travels, and they are even designed to fit your carry-on. Visit Beeyond’s Amazon page to get your own compression packing cube set. The link is in the description.
Number 2: Oceanário de Lisboa Oceanário de Lisboa is the largest indoor aquarium in Europe, home to over 16,000 marine animals and plants from 450 different species, including sandtiger sharks, cute sea otters, funny penguins, and other fascinating animals. Walk around this unique aquarium and experience four different natural habitats and learn about animal life in their natural environment through information panels. The oceanarium’s main exhibit is a large tank with glass panel windows strategically placed in various aquarium parts, creating a unique visual experience. Oceanário de Lisboa is just one of the famous landmarks located in Parque das Nações, the former site of Expo ’98. While in the Expo district, admire the majestic Vasco da Gama bridge, the longest bridge in Europe, or the beautiful Torre Vasco da Gama. Hop on the cable car to get a nice view of the entire district.
Number 1: Commerce Square Praça do Comércio or Commerce Square, overlooking the Tagus River, served as a transportation and commercial hub, and is now the seat of some of the most important Portuguese state offices. Walk along Cais das Colunas or Ribeira das Naus to enjoy a historic waterfront area. One of the most famous attractions in the square is Arco da Rua Augusta, a stone building commemorating the city’s reconstruction after the earthquake in 1755.
Climb the arch to enjoy spectacular views of the square and the city. The arch entrance reveals Lisbon’s main pedestrian area, Rua Augusta, a bustling street full of shops and restaurants. The nearby Rossio Square has been one of the main squares in Lisbon since the Middle Ages. Sit down in one of many cafes or restaurants, like the historic Café Nicola, and admire traditional Portuguese pavement style “calçada” and the plaza’s baroque fountains and neoclassical architecture. And here is the bonus that we promised. If you have some time left, explore Almada district with Cristo Rei National Sanctuary, a favorite destination for those looking to spend some quiet time with breathtaking views towards the river and the city. If you find it familiar, it’s because it resembles the Christ the Redeemer statue of Rio de Janeiro. Thank you for watching. We wish you an amazing trip to Lisbon!
