Just who are making all these Dicey Decisions?
I'm glad you asked!
Scott: DM and creator of Dicey Decisions. College professor in the real world, certified amazing everywhere else. Corin: The producer and behind the scenes wizard that keeps the stream flowing while we are busy role playing. Brandi: Marketing, Social Media, and Graphic Design. Brandi is a maladaptive daydreamer-teacher-fantasy author with an infamous stubborn streak and questionable addictions to social media and graphics software.
That brings us to our players... in no particular order and with minimal fanfare we have...
Name: Daniel Character Played: Garrick Stillbraid, Half-Elf Paladin Occupation: Healthcare Data Analyst First TTRPG: D&D 1st edition TTRPGs Played: D&D (1e - 5e), Pathfinder 1e, The One Ring, Star Wars (Fantasy Flight), Star Trek Adventures Favorite TTRPG Character: Izar Goldbranch, Half-Elven Acid Savant Sorcerer (D&D 3.5e) Favorite TTRPG Memory: After an Orcish citizen was found decapitated in their home and the party trying their damndest to not let racial tensions boil out of control, I accidentally set off a blood brawl with some unfortunate (and completely coincidental) wording: "Everyone calm down. There's no reason for anyone to lose their heads." Other Hobbies: Film, Theatre, Sports, Cooking, Professional Wrestling, Video Games (especially Open World Games) Fun Fact: My first semi-regular artistic gig was writing for a short-lived Miami-based wrestling promotion in the late 1990s.
Name: Amanda Character Played: Ashrina Gemmender, Gnome Rogue First TTRPG: D&D TTRPGs Played: D&D & Call of Cthulu Favorite TTRPG Character: My first ever D&D Character I made- Eloise the child rogue. She was a little hobo who stole and hoarded every piece of food she could get her hands on. I think about creating her for a full length campaign all the time. Favorite TTRPG Memory: I once "ruined" an encounter that was meant to overwhelm us in wave-style combat while one of our members was channeling a 10 minute spell with a wall of fire spell that I circled around the party thus rendering all the baddies useless as they burned up passing through the wall. Other Hobbies: Bowling, Video Games, random crafting Fun Fact: I have two giant dogs, a Great Dane and a Great Pyrenees and between the two of them they weigh 300+ pounds and consume 10 cups of food a day.
Name: Jack Character Played: Sliver, Human Bard First TTRPG:TTRPGs Played: Favorite TTRPG Character: Favorite TTRPG Memory: Other Hobbies: Fun Fact:
Name: Sean Character Played: Kid, Half-Elf Rogue Occupation: Paid geek First TTRPG: AD&D 2E 3E 3.5E 4E 5E, Pathfinder, Blackmoor, Dungeon Crawl Classics, Savage Worlds (Deadlands, Necessary Evil, Space: 1889), Warhammer / 40K Roleplay, 7th Sea, Call of Cthulu, World of Darkness, RIFTS, Shadowrun, Legend of the 5 Rings, Ryuutama, SPLINTER, Kult Favorite TTRPG Character: Kakita Kenshin, a noble swordsman from the Kakita clan, who was killed in an honor duel at the Imperial Winter Court in an intrigue engineered by another player at the table. His death was so dramatic and unexpected that the entire table gasped as the final blow was struck. When you can create a character and participate in telling a story with enough depth and emotional weight that a character death is actually impactful - that's when RPGs truly come alive for me. Favorite TTRPG Moment: There are too many wonderful moments to count, but my favorites are the emergent RP moments that happen in a roleplay heavy group. In one homebrew campaign, I was gifted a drunken dwarven bard to play named Oakstone Flamehammer. While attempting to secure the aid of a foreign court, he was accused of lying to the assembled nobles. In a fit of rage, he bellowed back, "Lie? LIE?! I'M TOO DRUNK TO LIE!", passed the charisma check with flying colors, and aid was secured. I'll never forget that moment, or the friends that I made during that campaign. Other Hobbies: Road trips / traveling, video games (Destiny 2 warlock main) and retro game collecting, miniatures painting / modeling Fun Fact: I have been playing make-believe and inhabiting fantastical worlds my entire life. For as long as I can remember, video games have been my primary hobby and passion - I still own my original INTV System III - and I firmly believe that there is no better way to connect with people, engage with stories, or evoke memory than through the spirit of play.
Name: Justin Occupation: Network Engineering Consultant Character Played: Tarlan Hillspark, Halfling Cleric First TTRPG: AD&D 2nd Edition TTRPGs Played: D&D 2e, 3e, 3.5e, 4e, 5e. Pathfinder, Paranoia, Call of Cthulhu, World of Darkness, In Nomine, BESM, Gurps, Star Wars D6, Star Wars Fantasy Flight, Mutants and Masterminds, Avatar Legends, Shadowrun, Blackmoor Favorite TTRPG Character: "Doctor", Kenku Cleric/Wizard plague doctor Favorite TTRPG Memory: It was D&D 3.5 at a living greyhawk table playing a human wizard. The entire party had fallen to a pack of wolves and dire wolves leaving Viktor alone, out of spell slots, facing off against the last dire wolf standing. Viktor was in robes armed with a quarter staff... and stood his ground against the Dire Wolf avoiding every attack thanks to some awful rolling on the DMs part. He was later dubbed Viktor the Invincible after clubbing the dire wolf to death and stabilizing his party. Other Hobbies: Board games, video games, trading card games... one day I will grow up and have adult hobbies... maybe... Fun Fact: I have 5 tattoos with 3 more planned once I get the money and time. 1 - Kanji for "not dying" between my should blades. 2 - Captain America's shield on my right bicep. 3 - A raven on my left pec. 4 - An ellipses and semi-colon on my right wrist. 5 - Chester Bennington's wrist flame on my right forearm in his honor. Next tattoo will be a quarter sleeve rainforest on my left shoulder and bicep with an animal representing each of my kids (Monkey, Frog, Fish).

2023.05.30 19:13 snuffy-laughs Ideas for the game.
I have a few ideas that I’d like to share. I think that there should be a training mode in retro bowl to use and better your players after games and during bye weeks. Also..we should be able to play for the defense during games.

2023.05.30 19:05 ClaptonsWig How it must feel to be a real Cinci fan
| Got tired of breezing thru the game and decided to take a different approach: managing only. So that means I can only focus on drafting, extending contracts and cutting players as it’s played entirely on Sim Mode. I have 0 control over how well my team plays and can only try to work around my issues as they pop up. Tell you what it’s actually a lot more fun to play this way lately. At first I tried letting dynamic or Medium be the difficulty but lol no this kind of only works comfortably on easy. It’s never 100% guaranteed win so the challenge is there. I started out with Cinci and had one helluva time ever getting past Baltimore. You can tell how big of a road block those guys were by almost making it every season I was managing the bengals. The funniest part is when I moved to Detroit after winning a ring they actually got one without me 😶 like come on guys submitted by ClaptonsWig to RetroBowl [link] [comments] |
2023.05.30 06:23 sinsandtonic Arrange Marriage Setup with a Psycho Girl
Wanted to share this story. I live in Mumbai. My parents gave me contact of a girl in Pune, encouraging me to meet her and stuff and get married. Her parents were very interested in me (I’m somewhat well-off). I started texting her and she seemed very chill. I went to meet her in Pune
- First meeting
I met her at a Cafe in Pune. The first meet was very formal— we mostly spoke about work. I’m a backend developer and she is a frontend developer. We spoke about some fun experiences we had. She shared me some sad personal story about some relative of her who prepared for UPSC and then couldn’t crack it for 4-5 years and then committed suicide. I shared some stories about some harassment I faced in my workplace and it got so bad I had to change teams etc.
She was aggressively projecting about how modern and liberal she is and how all the earlier guys she met before me were very traditional (expected her to stay at home and cook and stuff) and she liked how I’m not like the other guys and that our vibes match. No red flags so far— only thing I noticed was she was a bit vocal/dominating about her point of view. I noticed she had a really cool tattoo on her collarbone (at that time I didn't have any tattoos but I have 4-5 now).
- Second meeting
Second meeting happened a week later. We had coffee, then went for lunch. We got very close in the sense we shared some more personal stories— about relationships and whatnot. I shared this story about how my childhood friend and I got close and we ended up kissing and 1 week later I find out her marriage got fixed which broke my heart (she used me for fun). She told me she doesn’t drink whisky and stuff because it affects her periods, so she only drinks wine. We had a discussion about how couples are irritating and I narrated her this incident about how two of my friends who are dating got into argument in the middle of the road and I had to intervene and stop it. She expressed deep resentment about how hypocritical society is when a woman does something as opposed to when a man does something (usually regarding sex, drinking, etc). I agreed with her that society is indeed very unjust towards women and even though we have made progress, we still have a long way to go. We later on went bowling. We had a fun time and at the end of the day she separately texted me that she had a really good time.
Now this is the fun part. After two meetings, both of us gave a positive feedback to our parents. Things almost became official between us. Suddenly she had a mood swing of some sort and she stopped replying to my texts and didn't answer my calls. Later on she texted me that she doesn't see my as my life partner. I replied ok and stopped bothering her. Later on she blocked me on whatsapp— unnecessary but ok her choice. My mother was confused that what the hell happened— yesterday she was fine and today she changed her mind. My mother tried talking to her mother and her mother claimed that she changed her mind because she thought I was some high-society boy. My mother was concerned that what must I have told her and was curious about what we talked about. I told her that I didn't say anything extreme— we just had a good time and I told her some funny stories and that we got along very well with each other. I basically gave my mom an idea that she is a very chill/liberal girl. This girl then randomly called my mother and got extremely triggered that I told my mother that she drinks or she has a tattoo.
She thought I was spoiling her image so in order to get revenge on me she started spoiling my image— she told my mom that I drink every weekend, I watch porn, I harassed my childhood friend after getting rejected, I took advantage of another friend of mine when she was having a fight with her BF etc.
She basically started a fight with me because she thought I started a fight with her and then impulsively said a bunch of rubbish about me to get revenge. My reaction was— what the fuck?! Why did she do this? And why did she even call my mother in the first place? Am I calling her mother and saying anything to her? You said No then khatam ho gayi baat. On top of that she is making a false molestation allegation about someone else. So shameless. I cannot imagine attacking even my worst enemy like that— let alone someone I went on two dates with.
She had blocked me on whatspp. She unblocked me and sent me a very toxic message (calling me a "coward", a "pathetic person" and that I couldn't handle her rejection and that I "bitched about her" and that is why she said all these things about me) and blocked me again, warning me that If I say anything to her she will complain to police. I'm like wtf? Basically, she said a bunch of things to me and if I say anything to her she said I will go to jail.
Looking at her mood swings and impulsive reactions I could tell that she really wasn't stable. I really wanted to respond to her but she blocked me and using another phone would have made me look like the bad person. A couple of weeks later, she joined Telegram and I got a notification about it. I resisted the urge to reply her for 3 days. Finally I gave in— I crafted a very well thought answer to her original message— I called her a "psycho", "shameless", I called her out on her horrific lies (and potentially life-destroying) about "taking advantage" of someone and that she is "mentally unstable" and hence needs to seek help. After sending this reply I blocked her. Sweet revenge. A few hours later I was getting a call from an unknown number— it was her brother who was trying to rough me up. I blocked that number as well. The girl and her brother then called my mom and were creating a ruckus— accusing me of harassing her. My mother then called her out about the toxic message she sent me in the first place.
Then the girl had a complete mental breakdown— yelling and screaming hysterically and threatening to take legal action through Police, CBI, Shiv Sena and whatnot. I was genuinely prepared for all of that— I messaged her only because she messaged me and I was extremely careful not to use any abusive words because that can invite legal trouble. I had collected and saved her messages and was prepared to use it in court. They kept threating and I kept ignoring them till the noise died down.
My advice to all young men here reading this is, try your best to avoid such situations. Because you are a man, people will automatically assume you to be the guilty one (male privilege) and in case you find yourself in this situation, be brave but don't be stupid. Indulge in controlled aggression and collect as much evidence as you can about such psychotic women (they can accuse you of any random crime like rape, harassment, molestation) as without evidence you are pretty much fucked.

2023.05.29 19:01 Able_Possession8736 A Comprehensive Guide to Pro Football Video Game Covers
Another Madden $70 re-skin is upon us, so let's take a moment to explore the history of all the people who have been featured on the cover of an pro football video game.
While the selection of the Madden cover athlete is now an event, there was a wild wild west period of football games from the 80s to the mid-2000s where anybody with a computer could and would build football games, with the selection of the cover being all over the place. Roger Craig was the first cover athlete in 1985 on NFL Challenge for MS-DOS. Madden's first game was in 1988, then by the mid-90s getting a cover athlete or spokesman for your football game was pretty standard.
I wanted to compile those games and covers based on this
Wiki article (and a few that it was missing from that list) and see who was on the main cover of all of those games (some games were almost completely irrelevant, so I left them off this list). Some of these may have more alternates with other people, but I'll stick with the main cover.
Covers by Position

Obviously QBs dominate here, but I didn't realize how little defensive players have been on football game covers (9%), with none being on a cover since Richard Sherman in 2014. I'd love to see more defensive players on the Madden cover. Who would be the most likely defensive guy in the near future? Aaron Donald, TJ Watt, Nick Bosa, Myles Garrett, or Sauce Gardner?
Covers by Team

The Re-skins/Commanders?, Jags, Panthers, and Bills have appeared on a cover but never with an athlete as the lead or with a real person. Only the Texans have never appeared at all on the cover of any football video game. I'd say the Bills are most likely to get one next (Josh Allen), then the Jags (Trevor Lawrence), then the Panthers/Texans if either hits a home run with Young or Stroud. The Commanders have a long road ahead to getting a feature cover athlete, unless you ask Sam Howell who thinks he should be this year's Madden cover athlete.
Most Prolific Cover People

McNabb is the only guy to appear in multiple covers in the same year. Also of note, 7 athletes were on a cover without ever making a pro bowl in their careers: Brad Muster, Pat Terrell, Gordon Laro, Chris Zorich, Albert Fontenot, William Floyd, and Peyton Hillis (Hillis was the only one to be the primary cover athlete).
I'll list all the games and their respective covers by their era below. I'll also attach some of my favorite covers from each era. If the cover person was a Hall of Famer, I'll mark them with a
\). If they're very likely to make the HoF but they're not yet eligible, I'll mark them with a

We didn't see the first cover athlete until 1985 with Roger Craig. They didn't really become standard until the early to mid-90s after Madden became a big selling point for the early Madden games. The dip in the last 2 decades is because there's just less games, so any generic football games will have a large effect.
The Early Days: 1965-1982
1978: Football! for the Magnavox Odyssey 2 was the first football video game with a cover, but obviously the cover athletes are generic. The 2D Era: 1983-1996
1985: NFL Challenge was the first football game with a real cover athlete (Roger Craig). This was the original bar for realism in football simulation, to where it was used in a 1988 ESPN Program \"NFL Dream Season\" where they simulated the greatest teams of all time against each other. 1988: John Madden Football released on the Apple II, MS-DOS, and Commodore 64/128 (partly being developed by Bethesda), which was the beginning of the most dominant franchise in football video games. They featured no NFL teams due to a lack of an NFL license. 1991: Tecmo Super Bowl is probably still my personal favorite football video game. It's totally timeless, and if you pick the Raiders then you're a cheater. Year | Game | Cover Athlete | Team | Position |

The Parity Era: 1997-2004
1997: NFL Blitz came from Midway studios and was a breath of fresh air for football games. They had mostly been stagnant trying to hone in on realistic simulation in 2D form, whereas Blitz came out in 3D and threw realism out the window. I definitely spent too much money on the arcade version of this game. 2000: Madden 2001 started the tradition of having their games feature a cover athlete in this format, which consolidated into nearly everyone following this trend. 2001: Backyard Football 2002 was a more kid-friendly version of a football video game, and they also had other games for other professional sports. I definitely played this a lot on my old Windows Me computer, and Pablo Sanchez is a god. 2002: NFL Fever was Microsoft's foray into football video games on the original Xbox. All 3 of their games featured Peyton Manning as the cover athlete. 2002: NFL GameDay 2003 was 989 Sports' exclusive for Sony on the PlayStation platform. 2004: ESPN NFL 2K5 was the last great football game before the NFL exclusively gave their license to the EA. It was this game that definitely led to NFL's decision though, as they slashed their release price to an unheard of $20, which forced Madden 2004 to release at $30 instead of the typical $50. This pissed off the NFL, who decided to have less competition instead.
The Madden Era: 2005-Present
2005: NFL Street 2 was the second in the NFL Street series as a kind of spiritual successor to NFL Blitz. EA tried to have some diversity in their football video games outside of the Madden franchise, so they had the short-lived Street franchise under \"EA BIG\" 2006: NFL Head Coach was a new perspective on NFL Games where you play as the coach instead of the players. I enjoyed these although they could get a little boring. 2007: All Pro Football 2K8 was 2K's attempt at keeping the 2K football franchise alive without the coveted NFL license. They got three HoF players on the cover in Elway, Barry, and Rice, but not the actual license to any NFL team. This game received praise for its mechanics, but poor sales showed that a non-NFL licensed game would always struggle to make it. 2011: Madden 12 was maybe the last good Madden game. Also, Peyton Hillis. The only guy on a NFL football game cover to never make a Pro Bowl. This guy is an actual hero though, so good for him. 2019: Doug Flutie's Maximum Football was a mix of american and CFL football as another attempt at making a football game without the NFL license to poor results. They have announced a new game as a free to play title on new platforms, but no games in this franchise have released since 2020. 2020: Retro Bowl is a mobile game more in the style of Tecmo Super Bowl than Madden. It's probably the most successful non-Madden game since ESPN NFL 2K5, and it's pretty fun. People should definitely give this one a try since it's free to play on any mobile platform. 2022: Madden 23 gave the cover back to Madden for the first time since 1999 to honor the passing of the legend John Madden. Unfortunately the game inside the cover was crap, has been the style of Madden games for over a decade. Year | Game | Cover Athlete | Team | Position |

The 50 Best Video Games of the Atari Era
Want to see the best games before this era? Check out this list which was compiled by Reddit users' nominations and votes over an entire year:
https://www.reddit.com/retrogaming/comments/o4drau/best_video_games_of_the_atari_era_poll_final/ What You Can Do:
- Vote in the poll to determine the 100th best NES/Master System Era game!
- That's it! No nominations in the comments section, as this is the last round.
What You Can Nominate:
- Any Arcade coin-op game from 1985-1988.
- Any Computer game (any PC system) from 1985-1988.
- Any Home Console game from the 3rd Generation (regardless of year published unless it is a port): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_generation_of_video_game_consoles
- NO SNES games, NO Sega Genesis/Mega Drive games. Those systems aren't retro enough for this poll.
- NO Sonic. NO Streets of Rage, NO A Link to the Past, NO Super Mario World. Those games aren't retro enough for this poll.
Exceptions:
In general, the original year published takes precedence. No games that played betteare more iconic/are more remembered in an earlier or later era.
"Sonic the Hedgehog" was released for Sega Master System, but as a port, it was made for the Sega Genesis, so it is not eligible for this poll.
"Tetris" made its biggest impact with 35 million copies sold for the Game Boy, in the next era, so it is not eligible for this poll.
Arcade ports like the original "Mario Bros.", which hit arcades in 1983 are not eligible for this poll, even though they were ported to home consoles from the next generation.
1984's coin-op “Punch-Out!!”, was more iconic/more remembered as 1987's “Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!” on the NES, which is now eligible for this poll.
Instances like this can be debated. I think it's best to allow all games from a console to be designated to one era, and for games to appear in one era poll only.
Other Nominated Games From Last Round:
Last round 53 people voted in the poll and 1 new games were nominated in the comments section.
The Idea:
Comparing, say, Pong and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, is not useful. It's like arguing which is better: the Ford Model T or the Space Shuttle? But comparing games of their era is interesting and fun! Usually, best game polls are limited to a single system. This poll is unique because it includes all platforms from the era together. How will the best arcade, computer and Master System games compete with the best that Nintendo had to offer? It will be interesting!
Why Only Arcade and Computer Games from 1985-1988?
The 3rd Generation of home consoles launched in the West with the NES in 1985 and changed everything. The Sega Genesis/Mega Drive launched in 1989, began the 4th generation of home consoles which will begin the era for the next series of polls after this concludes.
The Criteria:
I'll leave it up to the individual to decide. Innovation, quality, influence, iconic status, how much fun it was then, how it holds up today, are all valid. Whatever games you love, whatever games you want to see named as the greatest of the era.
What Happens Next:
After the poll closes in a week, the winner of the poll will be named the 100th best video game of the NES/Master System Era. At that point I would like to continue from the NES/Master System Era to the SNES/Genesis/TG-16 Era, for a new set of polls.
This will be a poll I hope to hold every week for a long time! Have fun everyone!

2023.05.28 19:01 Able_Possession8736 A Comprehensive Guide to Pro Football Video Game Covers

The Re-skins/Commanders?, Jags, Panthers, and Bills have appeared on a cover but never with an athlete as the lead or with a real person. Only the Texans have never appeared at all on the cover of any football video game. I'd say the Bills are most likely to get one next (Josh Allen), then the Jags (Trevor Lawrence), then the Panthers/Texans if either hits a home run with Young or Stroud. The Commanders have a long road ahead to getting a feature cover athlete, unless you ask Sam Howell who thinks he should be this year's Madden cover athlete.

We didn't see the first cover athlete until 1985 with Roger Craig. They didn't really become standard until the early to mid-90s after Madden became a big selling point for the early Madden games. The dip in the last 2 decades is because there's just less games, so any generic football games will have a large effect.
